Comments of Brother Baba Budan
A. E.
On my coffee tour through the Melbourne CBD, we made our second stop at Brother Baba Budan. I was surprised by the queue in front of the little coffee shop. We generally do not see that where I am coming from (Switzerland).
I especially liked the interior design and the music, totally my style. On the wall you could watch a video from a coffee farm. On the opposite wall you could also ready about the sustainability program their roaster put in place. It is great to see how specialty coffee is pushing this factor of the coffee value chain.
We then, of course, also tasted an espresso. I was curious how the baristas could keep up with a straight black espresso during such a busy time: they did a fantastic job. The washed coffee from Ethiopia 🇪🇹 was very clean, sweet, with a lingering finish.
Thank you very much for this experience.

It was so awesome that on World Coffee Day, Brother Baba Budan Cafe in partnership with Visit Melbourne gave away free coffees to the first 100 customers! We weren’t lucky enough to be one of them but it didn’t matter as we wanted to support local businesses who are giving back especially during a pandemic. Their coffee is delicious with friendly staff who smile through their masks! Love the chairs on the roof.
A. D.
When it comes to ice coffee, this is the place. The most distinctive one. The place is small, the price is fair, and worth to try when visit Melbourne
S. N.
Little coffee shop with interesting decor, see photos. The takeaway line was long, yet we got our coffee in 5 minutes. My latte was great with perfect temperature. Easily the best coffee in Melbourne CBD.
R. L.
Visited a while ago. Great coffee and good vibes.
C. J.
Best coffee in Melbourne town! Note not a lot of seats for dine in but there’s tables & chairs on street.
I also but beans for home use! Seven Seeds is the best roaster! Try their Golden Gate which has tones of chocolate
J. G. C.
Love this place! Great coffee and a tasty lamb pie. I’m glad that pies are coming back into fashion.
Also it’s on a quiet side street so you can hear yourself think. Felt pleasantly un-rushed.
W. T.
It's very small with few seats cafe at little bourke street. It's always busy so very hard to get seats. Lots of people get coffee for take away too. They roasted and sell their own coffee too as "seven seeds" brand. The latte and cappucino taste good, the cakes also very delicious. Will be keep.coming back
O. K.
Lives to its name, ratings and hype, the coffee was everything that everyone has been raving about.....and love the quirky decor
C. C.
Most consistently terrific coffee I have found anywhere (in the world). I go out of my way to go here when I'm in the city and I have the desire for great coffee. Cannot recommend Brother Baba highly enough.
C. M.
Great decor and atmosphere BUT! Even blindfolded it’s worth to stop by and have a coffee. God bless the guys and their craft!
I. T.
The pie was dry and not a lot of flavour, the Iced latte was nice but way too small... However the home made lemonade was excellent.
S. T.
I had one the the best cappuccinos at this place. Small with only few seats available but can always have it as take away. Nice ambience and special interior with the chairs hanging from the ceiling. Also the people running the café were extremely friendly and happy to share their knowledge. You can also purchase coffee products and beans for home.
H. L.
Famous spot for coffee in the heart of Melbourne CBD. Only ever been here for the coffee so can only speak to it and it is good. A standout in a crowded coffee market where the base line is already good. Very hard to walk past at the end of little bourke street and not stop in for a quick magic
A. C.
One of the best coffee's I've ever had, a little on the pricier side but worth every cent if you're particular about coffee.
L. Z.
I wished I had more time when I visited the Brother Baba. I just had time for a quick take away coffee as the place was completely packed on a Saturday afternoon. The place, with hanging chairs floating over your head, is really small with just 2 or 3 tables.
From the small time I had to check out the place, the amazing coffee left a taste in my mouth that makes me wish to come back and the the pastries and other yummies available.
Edit:
Had the pleasure to visit this lovely place again today when I was on my way to the library and was able to sit by the counter. Ordered a creamy and smooth late with a strong and delicious coffee taste, not too roasted and slightly acidic. To properly enjoy my coffee, I ordered the huge almond croissant, which was just perfect: crispy outside but really tender and wet in the middle.
The result? I skipped my lunch with a smile in my face and with $12 short in my wallet.
H. A.
Small gem serves one of the best coffees in Melbourne. Dont plan to dine in. Just takeaway coffee.
If you have your own coffee machine, they have seven seeds beans available.
J. L.
Ordered a flat white and a cinnamon pastry.
My friend had a chocolate and a choco danish.
Both food and drink were nice.
The staffs were friendly and helpful.
Awesome experience.
E. H.
Perfect and nice coffee, and desserts was okay
E. E.
Had an appointment down this end of town so got reacquainted with this old haunt today. I had forgotten how much I love the coffee here and their sweet treats didn’t disappoint... shame it’s so far from where I currently work otherwise would make this my regular.

This cafe is mostly a take away coffee place for me and it used to be a regular spot when it was
in walking distance from work. Now it’s just an occasional venue and I still like the nutty smooth style of coffee that they extract. Staff seem to love working here and are chatty amongst themselves and friendly. Today I had a little more time spare so was able to in on the communal table while the rest of Melbourne appeared to queue and wait. They do basic eats which are mostly sweet and if you are after beans for the home machine this is the right place for you.
S. N. K.
I was introduced to this place by my bestie and I was quite amazed at the number of people who come in here. It's always busy and sometimes the queue might run outside the door into the sidewalk. The decor is something interesting and is a perfect place for the Instagram picture. (Wish it wasn't crowded. Selfish Me. Haha).
The chairs hanging from the ceiling is a nice touch. I wouldn't recommend dine-in unless you love the 'coffee place' white noise. I saw many people reading books and working on laptops.
They sell many sorts of coffee with any choice of milk. They also sell coffee beans and cups, if in case you wanna have a share of BBB at the comfort of your home. I absolutely loved the coffee flavor and would love to visit again.
M. M.
This cafe makes me impressed when I drink a latte here in Melbourne for the first time!!
After that I've been to BBB many times since there are wonderful coffees.
BBB is the best coffee that I've ever had before.
Highly recommended!!
J. J.
To be honest, most of us can make the same quality coffee at home if we got an espresso machine.
H. H.
Very cool place, my favorite during my stay in Melbourne. Coffee was great and pastries were awesome. Baristas and rest of the staff are very good and you can sense they love what they do. It gets busy but worth the wait and experience the vibe of the place.
D. P.
After visiting few coffee shops I finally found perfect coffee cup in Melbourne. And personal was amazing!!! Also fast, there was a lot of people waiting for their piece of joy, but they managed to make my coffee in jus 5 minutes. Wonderful!
M. M.
Great coffee. When I am in CBD, I prefer it over other coffee shops. However seating is very limited and its often very crowded. Its easy to get seat if you are alone or 2, but extremely difficult if you are in a group of 3 or more. 15% surcharge applies on public holidays. They serve just one cup size which is equivalent to a medium sized cup in other cafes. Also tried their Mocha and Its good too.
P. K.
Serving up some of the best coffee in Melbourne for over 10 years.
D. A.
No doubt, best cafes in Melbourne. It’s small inside, and not enough seats but the people keep coming, even they drink standing. The coffee here is tasty and as you want. Very delicious. We ordered a magic late, I haven’t taste like it before. Definitely I’ll be back here again
P. A.
I had a cappuccino and my partner had a mocha.
The place has a very antique old fasioned vibe to it.
Not a very big shop so limited seating.
The coffee was good.
S. C.
Amazing coffee and unique vibe! Cappuccino is a must try! The cafe is actually smaller than we thought with only limited seats so we ended up taking away our coffees. Staff were friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be back!
S. A.
I have read some reviews and I decided to go. The place is too small and crowded. Their coffee is good but not as I thought. I tried one almond croissant and it was great 👍🏼
Staff is awesome and attentive ✌🏼
Generally it deserves to visit and try by yourself.
M. T.
Had a great latte at here. Smooth formed milk and the level of bitterness and warm was perfect 👌 Also, they served it quickly.
N. S.
It's been 3 years, and still my top 5 list. One of the best Melbourne's coffee I have ever tasted. Their espresso blend is a killer. Super recommended.
A. N.
Always a must for me when I head to Melbourne.
Easily one of the best coffee places you’ll find in the CBD.
If you’re lucky enough, you might find a seat at the communal table or side bar tables at the rear. The cafe is quite compact in size.
I’ve found it best to get the coffee takeaway anyway as it tastes even better in the takeaway cup!
a. n.
Cool setting, friendly people, very Melbourne vibe and the lane location.
Best coffee in Melbourne?? Hmm... maybe not.
But definitely worth a shot when you're in cbd :)
N. K.
One of my favorite coffee shops in Melbourne. Hidden away from the Main Street, this tiny little coffee shop is an excellent place to grab a flat white and sit down for a bit or grab one to do. I enjoyed trying their granola and fruit for brekkie and it was yummy and filled with good textures too.
S.
This was one of the only coffee shops open nearby before 8am. The flat white was served nice and hot. My biggest complaint would be the price of the baked goods (definitely on the higher side). The service was good. The place was small but cozy and quaint. Didn't feel cramped or anything.
A. Z.
Been coming here for over a decade. Great brews, especially their batch brews / iced filters.
M. A.
This coffee hole in the wall has been an on tap coffee excellence for a while now. I often sneak past here. Don’t be put off by the line out the door, they are efficient and move fast. And the coffee is sweetly delicious. Definitely worth the wait.
C. C. R.
This little coffee shop is really crowded. They have a good coffee and some pastries where people are willing to queue for a long line. The service was fast, the staffs works efficiently, and most of all the price was reasonable.
This place decorated in a shabby industrial look with chaired ceilings. One square table was placed near the main entrance, and people just sit and mingle enjoying their coffee. Inside there are some of seatings, but not a lot.
I must say the coffee here really boosted my day and the caffeine worked last long. One more thing, they have a babycinno too so everyone can enjoy.
P. V.
An absolutely amazing coffee with a good vibes 💫
J. T.
Why Melbourne is the Cafe Capital of the World.
Not cheap but all quality and ambiance.
Such a "super mini" space in the middle of the CBD, you can easily missed it. Location wise is not even a prominent foodie street (before these cafes turned up) and they managed to turn this "super mini" space into a non-stop coffee-hole, nearly; producing so much goodness on a daily basis, a quick escape and a cheap joy from the hustle and bustle of the City.
Always a pleasant service, indy looking team member; lots of tattoos and beards here, it doesn't make a better Barista, just trendy.
Always a challenge to find a seat and it's not because they are all hanging in the Ceiling either; expect to share table or go solo. This place is just like a beehive; Busy, Electric, Buzzing, Vibrant and just full of life, not too many small spaces in Melbourne can produced so much excitement, well done!
M. A.
Great coffee, nice staff, and loved the vibes around here. One thing is they could make the coffee a bit stronger, however, Brother Baba Budan definitely one of the highlights in Melbourne coffee industry.
J. C.
Coffee was really nice and staff was really kind to us as well. Some people tell that this cafe is small and there’re no enough seats but i think many cafes are like that in Melb 🤔 I want to recommend you to stop by here and enjoy this wonderful coffee.
S.
coffee place with more chairs on the ceiling than on the floor. The coffee is slightly more sour than the others which I had. The cup for ice mocha was the same size as the hot latte and that made us frown a bit.
N. C.
Great crew producing some one the best coffee in Melbourne. In need of a caffeine hit? Well worth swinging by for a brew.
l. c.
Great and innovative decoration design.
The coffee is also really good!
It’s really nice to get a coffee in Brother Baba when you start a new day!
S. E.
Great coffee. I’ve been avoiding this place for years because it’s always crowded and has a queue. This time we got in and actually had seats!
C. H.
Such a cool place! Limited sitting area. The interior decoration is very special, and of course the coffee was worth the visit! Very friendly staff. It was so good that I bought two bags of coffee beans to go. Come get a cup of coffee when you’re waiting for tables at Tipo 00!
A. L.
A coffee connoisseur/snob recommended Brother Baba Budan quoting, "most consistent coffee. The best," finishing the comment with an Italian gesture for delicious.
Inside Brother Baba's you won't find much seating. Tucked at the back is a narrow path with chairs on either side (not pictures). It atmosphere reminds me to small coffee houses in Japan, dimly lit and cramped.
True to my friends word, the coffee was incredible. Piccolo was rich in flavour and texturally smooth.
Brother Baba Budan's premise isn't suited for a large groups. If coffee quality coffee is priority one, you're in safe hands with Brother Baba.
M. K.
OHHHH MY GOD!!!!!! these guys don't only sell AMAZING coffee, sweet treats and probably THE BEST hot chocolate, they sell an experience!!! Well worth a visit
BEST COFFEE SHOP I HAVE EVER BEEN TO
C. D.
As always, amazing coffee, great location and lovely staff. The roof decorations give the cafe a warm feeling and creates a unique environment that's is memorable.
V. Q.
My Melbourne based coworker thinks this place is the best place in town for coffee. The line and the number of tourists would echo that sentiment. While in town I was able to try Brother Budan and market place coffee. I would say Brother Budan is the better of the two. I tried both the black and the white coffee. The piccolo had a nice creaminess and the espresso taste rang through. Oftentimes this balance isn’t there and the espresso is too strong.
The black coffee was batches brewed, which J was really disappointed by. I am surprised that finding pour over coffee/ made to order coffee is hard to find in Australia. For a place that prides itself on being a coffee centric place AU hope this trend changes soon.
S. Y.
One of the best coffees in Melbourne. Friendly service, great ambience and delicious coffee. What more can you ask for?
M. B.
Great coffee in the heart of melbourne CBD. This is the type of place that gives this city such an excellent reputation if you are a coffee lover. I don't know why they have chairs on the ceiling, but it def makes for nice viewing while you are standing in line. Yeah, your probably gonna wait in line here.
J. K.
Brother baba budan
The first seven seeds coffee shop. The one that believed put Sydney in the speciality coffee international map. Hip and hype .... crowded and calm.... all noises dissolved in the first sip of a flat white.
T.
In the demanding environment of CBD Melbourne, with its taste for incredibly good coffee, BBB is amongst the best of the best. Worth coming from far and wide.
N. T.
The place is very small, located strategically at CBD Melbourne. Most important, their coffee is amazing! We bought their beans (Nyeri Kenya), the roast and taste: speechless. If you are a real coffee lover, and you happen to visit Melbourne CBD, this small coffee shop is a must-visit!
T. S.
Probably been here too many times in the past to rates it now, but the most recent experience was very good. They serve seven seeds beans in their coffees, and make them very well. It's a cosy place, perfect for a well crafted espresso or filter coffee. Just not a cafe to grab lunch at
B. L.
900+ reviews so thought it was worth a visit.
Staff warm and friendly, location easy to find. The store is that shabby hipster vibe.. I get it. It blends well with the area and had some nice tunes playing.
Coffee was meh. For me, it was nothing special. Left an unusual note on my pallet. I assume just the region and or blend used is a combination I haven’t tasted before. Coffee is very individual though so it’s worth a visit.
All in all, I wouldn’t re visit but I wouldn’t discourage others from trying it either.
R.
machine : la marzocco linea pb
grinder : mazzer robur, mahlkonig ek43
coffee : seven seeds
brew method : espresso
if the little rogue location is hidden, this one is not, brother baba budan located at the side of the main road, small space, but got the intimacy, lovely coffee by seven seeds coffee
s. s.
Good coffee and pretty similar to seven seeds. The also sell the beans there. A bit queue normally happen in the morning.
N. K.
Great coffee but not much space in store.
P. O.
Lovely coffee. Iced mocha was great and so was the service.
Y. W.
I always come to this shop to buy the seven seed coffee bean
most convenient store to have good coffee and the beans in City
D.
Great Coffee - (Seven Seeds blend) the staff are committed to making the best coffee.
It's aways packed but you can always find a spare seat :-)
E. A.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THE COFFEE. My Dad told me about this place and I went just now to try. I had a cup of latte. The coffee was really strong and rich but not overpowered. I love how the taste of the milk isn't dominant. Definitely a place to go.
M. H.
Super attentive and friendly staff who said hello and goodbye to every customer. Coffee (cap) was perfection! Right temperature, superb foam texture and great taste. They use seven seeds coffee. They also have a few pastries.
Will definitely come back.
H.
I was lucky that I didnt wait in the que to get in. I could have enjoyed coffee and some cookie without being disturbed by anything crowded. The staffs seemed very professional and enjoying their work.
J. n.
Very nice vibrant
Coffee was super delicious
Friendly staff
Highly recommended
G.
Deserving of its title as one of the top cafes in Melbourne! Coffee is smooth and lovely. Service is great as usual. A must-visit!
V. V.
I was overseas for four weeks, and I missed Melbourne's coffee culture so very much. So, after four weeks of bad coffee, I went to Brother Baba Budan, and it felt like home. The staff was efficient and friendly. Thank you.
J.
What you would expect from an Uber Cool MELBOURNE cafe. If your traveling and in Melb and want to experience the coffee scene then check out this cosy cafe with exceptional coffee. Can’t go wrong !!
J. S.
The coffee is very good, consistently very good (seven seeds beans). It’s a small space so expect to feel cosy if sitting in. The pastries and cakes are also a perfect compliment to your coffee.
D.
Baba Budan won the first place of my best coffee shop list. Their mocha is my favorite, the latte is also super fine. I dont think the cafe is made for people to sit down and relax, but that's okay. Located in the CBD center and open since 7am makes the cafe a great place to get a quick perfect coffee before office.
A. K.
Great place for coffee. Small but good vibe.
Staff is happy to serve you.
I could not locate it's hoarding outside shop, so look for a dark themed shop on the road.
J. C.
Delicious, fruity flavor latte plus super friendly baristas - they definitely showed their concept through their coffee!
A. D.
Visited the place today. A small place
Super crowded. You'll hardly get a place to sit. Coffee is really good here. Also the place makes you feel better. Looking forward to visiting this place again.
C. C.
Get here outside of peak times to really enjoy this small but lively cafe near Hardware Lane. Mainly takeaway customers as seating is limited.
Experienced and friendly baristas behind the bar. Coffee by Seven Seeds Specialty Coffee.
A. M.
First stop of my Melbourne trip and so happy to get a very nice coffee to start my trip!
A. H.
You can tell that it is some of the best coffee around as it still has a queue, but other places have closed.
J. L.
A tiny little coffee place with limited seating, large table with a few stools by the door, on the ceiling hang fixed empty light chairs and below there is room for about ten other customers to stand and two staff including the barrista. Seven seeds coffee is sold in whole beans as well. Good coffee.
M. G.
Super chill coffee shop! The coffee is delicious. The staff is nice. And I really like the atmosphere!
K. V.
Excellent quality coffee. Super friendly staff.
F. G.
The decoration inside was pretty mesmerizing with all the chairs hanging at the ceiling. Service was pretty fast. Tried the cappuccino for $4.5. Tasted smooth, silky and creamy. The roasting was spot on, not too burnt. I can appreciate why it is so popular.

Brother baba budan
The first seven seeds coffee shop. The one that believed put Sydney in the speciality coffee international map. Hip and hype .... crowded and calm.... all noises dissolved in the first sip of a flat white.
S. C.
Really loved the coffee and atmosphere here. The coffee was served with a cup of soda water which was a nice touch.
O. B.
Excellent coffee. Great staff. Eclectic fitout.
J. N.
Really cool little cafe with a lot of atmosphere. It's a small cafe so probably not idea for larger groups if you want to sit down, but excellent coffee.
f. a.
Perfect coffee. If you need perfect coffee I will say here. They greet to everyone and they where friendly.
They use seven seed coffee beans. Try all the kind of coffee. If you go on middle of the day inside will be busy so you might can’t sit down but even takeaway will be fine. You will still enjoy.
W. F.
For coffee lover should come here.
But don’t expect to have a seat, because the place is small with many coustomer having a coffee
X. C.
The cafe uses seven seed beans, and I ordered an American , which has the right acidity and bitterness. The location is good. You can order a cup of coffee when you pass by.
C. R.
Awesome coffee.!😎
Except you guys missed my sugar 😭
G.
Great coffee. Different but good pastry. Not very busy late afternoon
A. H.
Cool little coffee shop. Friendly staff, despite it being packed the guy helped me decide when I couldn't, downside is that it is pretty expensive so wouldn't recommend for a daily coffee but it's great for a one-off coffee every once in a while.
It is small though and can be hard to find seating at peak hours.
V. N.
Completely approved the long black and cappuccino!!! One of the best flavors I had, and it's worth to dedicate some time to enjoy it :) (in this case, a bit luck to find available seat ;) )
P. F. R.
Friendly service and yummy mocha ($4.50). Quirky cosy interiors.
M. H.
Have been going there since 2007 and only ever had consistently excellent coffees. The staff are also super friendly and efficient. The beans are great for home too :)
L. A.
Great coffee, so packed, I try their Magic, recommended
D. M.
fantastic coffee!
Interesting decor too. I go here often and always enjoy it.
S. V.
One of the best coffee shop in Melbourne. I loved their coffee. When i want to drink coffee then always visit there. Good quality Coffee at a reasonable price. Thanks
B.
If you consider yourself a Third Waver, it’s a requirement to come here.
Standing room only basically but amazingly cool headed staff even at the height of busy.
A. M.
Visited from Sydney and came here with my daughter for coffee and breakfast. Am now at a crossroads....whether I move here permanently just because of this cafe. Would definitely recommend
M. R.
Really cool funky cafe. I did a tasting of three beans and then picked one to make the cappacino with ☕😎
K. C.
Super strong coffees and in a quaint shop. Part of the seven seeds group in Melbourne. Coffee quality is good and South American in origin.
A. M.
This was my go to place.. but now coffee is a hit and miss. Please guys.. would like to see some consistency. I love your coffee.
Y. Y. (.
Perfect coffee you should try in Melbourne! Special decoration also!
M. D.
Always a joy to visit the team here. Can get busy. Although worth it as the lace has a comfortable chilled vibe. Worth a visit and revise when in the area.
L. E.
No frills little place, best for grab and run experience, although with small inside sitting area, they have outside sitting area too. Music is loud... I don't go places to get smashed by decibels, I am not deaf...
L. N.
Great coffee! My must go to place whenever I visit Melbourne!
M. N.
The decor here is amazing and I really love it. Love catch up over coffees of hot chocolate at Baba Budan, their coffees are so good and the hot chocolate is powered by Mork Chocolate. Really recommend this spot for coffee and hot chocolate
R. H.
I love everything in this cafe! Maybe they don’t have enough seats and space, but their coffee and desserts are absolutely amazing.
The peanut butter cookies is a must try! It’s so chewy and delicious, especially with coffee.
And the service was really nice, I found the dessert to be appealing and sweet but one of the staff recommended the peanut butter cookie to me and it was really good.
K. M.
One of my fav coffee shops in Melbourne! I think it is worth the wait, if there is a line. 💕😍
A. S.
Great coffee experience in a small but well run place. The coffee is amazing!
A. X.
Great coffee. Small shop but friendly staff.
a. v.
Great coffee cosy and must try chai latte with honey 😍😍
L. G. B.
Four stars for the coffee and cool creation of hanging chairs from the ceiling however it’s super busy- we had to wait outside for awhile as the place is small and queue was long. In my opinion it wasn’t worth the wait as there wasn’t anywhere to sit. I’d much rather go to a cafe where I can sit down and enjoy my coffee. I found the coffee reviews to be a bit overrated too as it wasn’t the best coffee I’ve had. Yes it was good but I wouldn’t say “amazing”. Maybe perfect for someone who is wanting to purchase a good coffee on the go.
C. N.
Very cool place, my favorite during my stay in Melbourne. Coffee was great and pastries were awesome.
J. Y.
Coffee is amazing! If you are a coffee lover, you must come here.
I will definitely come back.
S. C.
Bar hopping by night, Cafe hopping by day. A must drop by cafe when you are tired of walking. It can be really crowded so be prepared but it is worth the wait. A takeaway is good with while walking around the lanes.
A. K.
I went there because this place was mentioned as one of the best coffee spots in Melbourne. I did enjoy a good cup of coffee, and a nice atmosphere. Altough, the place is packed and a bit small. I wouldn't say the best cup of coffee out there. Worth trying if you are nearby and looking for coffee, not worth getting out of your way to drink a cup here.
H. V.
Very small cafe with great coffee. Quiet busy on the weekends, but quick service and friendly staff.
J. B.
This was one of the main coffeehouses open close-by before 10am. The level white was served pleasant and hot. . They truly realize how to make one of the absolute best espressos. The espresso is so full-bodied and charming.. One of my top picks in Melbourne and have been returning consistently.
J. R.
7 Seeds. Long a staple of great coffee in Melbourne. And BBB has long been their little home in the CBD. Melbourne has plenty of great coffee shops now, but the 7 Seeds crew still rock it.
K. Y.
I can guarantee you baba budan is one of the best cafes in the universe
b. J.
Wonderful coffee taste, love the richness of the coffee bean and place decor was awesome with hip hop music. Daily coffee place to be
Y. L.
Great coffee. Really good. Best coffee in Melbourne I've tasted so far
a. a.
I have to say first before finished type. The formed milk is so so so good. If you looking for awesome cafe, go this cafe. Right now.
A. D.
Melbourne's best coffee without doubt
d. p.
Great coffee, Nice small place, can be quickly crowded. Friendly staff, I came 2 minutes before the closure and it's still able to order a take away coffee
M.
Amazing food and coffee! Great location!
M. ¨.
Very lovely cafe with excellent coffee. only negative comment is that they don't do soy milk very well. But for the rest, they have fantastic lattes and pastries. Staff are always wonderful. It's often very busy in the tiny shop so I would recommend getting a take away and enjoying your drink while exploring the neighbourhood.
R. P.
Great ambience but decent coffee on a lighter side..was milky even after asking for double shots..also ordered dirty chai which was good..
A. B.
Incredible coffee (had a magic and a flat white) and delicious almond croissants. Very busy in the morning but quick turnover of the limited seating. Variety of Seven Seeds blends and single origin beans to buy. One of my favorites in Melbourne and have been returning almost every day.
l. c.
Extremely nice cafe in CBD! Cozy decoration with bikes in the ceiling ~ !
H. B. T.
My favourite coffee in Melbourne.

Great coffee! Love this little busy coffee bar. Will be back for sure when I get back to Melbourne 🙌🏽🙌🏽

Lovely coffee and strongly recommend "Luiz Paulo Natural Process Brazil" It's just amazing!
D. C.
Great coffee. Cool atmosphere.
M. N.
Great coffee, great service
J. V.
This is a great spot for coffee lovers or first time coffe drinkers. There is a wide range of drinks available with a tasty range of accompanying slices and cakes. I recommend the long black, which is one of the better ones that I've had in Melbourne so far. The music is a nice volume as well, so you aren't shouting to your friends or struggling to hear them talk. I am coming back in the near future. Highly recommended!
P. H.
Very convenient location and nice iced coffee, however, it might take a long waiting time. It is worth to visit when you play around the city.
Enjoy!
B. F.
Always enjoy a warm cup of piccolo in this cold weather @ Melbourne!
T. Z.
Seven seeds coffee has always been one of my favourite caffeine dealers and so it's great to have their beans available in the city from a team that really know how to extract the most from each of them. In short: your coffee will be delicious.
This place is always incredibly busy but don't be scared and hang around in the doorway, lock eyes with some staff and let them know how many seats you need or your takeaway order. I would suggest never coming here with more than 3 people. They just don't have the room. Also just coffee and some cakes, they don't do cafe food.
H. J.
One of, if not the best coffee in Melbourne. Very cosy space, nothing ostentatious - gives it a very rustic and authentic setting, giving the coffee the attention it deserves.
張.
Better than it’s partner shop! Coffee flavor is perfect shows in your mouth!

TOP ① in Melbourne
Coffee lovers need to visit this small busy magnificent coffee shop👍👍
C. M.
Every time I come to Melbourne this is my stop for breakfast. The almond croissant is delicious and the coffee amazing too.
J. H.
Great to see this place survived covid. Excellent coffee, one of the further places from the office but 100% worth the walk.
W. Y.
Whoa! Amazing coffee, I had a flat white and it was really good. They use 7 Seed beans, and there is a great selection in the shop for purchase. The shop sign is a little inconspicuous, and lower than eye level, so do keep a keen lookout while looking for the place. While you are sipping coffee, do look up to see the cool chair lighting system. It is a hipster place that keeps it real!

Great place for a quick coffee, nice and quite in the mornings.
Would go past this place without popping in and soak in the atmosphere. Random ceiling chairs, coffee scoop handle and the old wall scribbles aims to make this place look a lot less than it is made out to be.
Coffee is consistent, made with Seven Seed coffee beans, almond croissant was delightfully soft in the centre.
Easily a Melbourne must try.
L. B.
Without a doubt, excellent coffee. This shop really lives up to it's reputation, sadly because it is so popular it is hard to get a seat. While the shop itself is small, it's located right next to a beautiful laneway where you can escape the crowds and sip your coffee in peace (no tables)
W. G.
This is the best coffee that Melbourne has to offer. The best example of the Seven Seeds empire. The staff here are very friendly, remember names and orders and can make a damn good coffee. Recently the prices increased for a coffee and you can only get one size, however having one size means the coffee is always consistently good. You can use a keep cup to get a discount on your coffee. It can get a little cramped at peak times, but if you wait outside staff will bring takeaway coffees out to you.
C.
Coffee is good, croissants is OK.
T. D.
Their coffee never fails me, so far. Thanks for made my day brighter.
F. Y.
Personally find that their coffee is better than their peers down the alley. It's more tasty, and faster of a wait, although being more crowded. Food wise they do lose out though, as the menu is highly limited, whichever time of the day. Many people do takeaway coffee, and I can understand why, so you may like to do that too. Do look out for the interior decorations though, as they have some fancy chair setup on their ceiling and it sure looks interesting.
K. V.
Love this place, I always stop by when I’m down in Melbourne. Cute cosy cafe, with quality coffee. I love their filter coffee.
N. S.
Always a pleasure great food great coffee
P. R.
Coffee tastes good but you wanna make sure to drink it onsite. Or you might end with a Maccas looking TA. Disappointed..
J. F.
Generally great coffee and atmosphere.
However they fail to make proper long macchiato.
Unsure if it’s the barista or how they serve it, but my cup shouldn’t be filled up 3/4.
The flat white my partner ordered and the cold brews, filtered coffees I have ordered in the past have been great.
T. J.
Coffee is probably one of the best in Melbourne, one thing I notice is that you can't really rely on articles that list best cafes cause not only it's personal preference, some of them are just, not even good coffee. Glad that Baba is really good though. The things like hario pour over dripper is also cheaper than other places. Overall, amazing coffee, just a lil busy I'd say.
B. R.
one of the best coffee shop in Melbourne.. I love the latte 😍
T. C.
Consistently the best coffee in the CBD.
Perfect drinking temperature every time, flawlessly executed pour and milk.
The cold brew is also amazing.
Plenty of seating inside, however there is only around 16 usable settings, so be prepared for a tight squeeze and a wait, or grab your coffee to go and have a walk around while you drink it.
I. K.
The careful crafted coffee that is served to you by a young hipster is a work of art. It’s not your average coffee. It is a delicacy to be admired and savoured. This is an absolute must if you’re in Melbourne.
M. B.
Only ever came here once for a quick coffee and chat. Now, I normally do not like any form of pastry or buttery goods but my LAWD is the chocolate croissant just a God send. The euphoria I experienced as I consumed its delictable filling complimented with their good coffee was worth going out of my way and skipping all the other coffee shops on the way.
S. P.
Love this place, good interior design and very homey. Perfect coffee with perfect mug size make the coffee tastes really good. The most important one, it opens even on the weekend, and give me a chance to try this coffee more than once.A good coffee should be enjoyed on the weekend :)
L.
So unique and fun place to sip coffee.
B. C.
Coffee is delicious here and the cafe and atmosphere are so inviting. Not to mention the staff are always friendly and engaging and if there is a line, your coffee still comes in a timely manner. Highly recommend for a great cup of coffee, definately a melbourne hotspot
R. G. (.
Small, cramped, has character. The queue for take away was about 10 pax on a Sunday at 11am.
Where possible get a long black or a cappuccino if you must have milk - the flavor of the coffee itself is wonderfully complex and tasty.
D. H.
This place is amazing. I've had Seven Seeds before at home, but damn they do a good job with a bag of beans in a brew basket!
Tight for space but full of character. The staff are friendly, the coffee is reasonably priced, and you WILL travel here for just one cup.
Check if out, or you haven't experienced Melbourne yet.
L. D. C.
Great coffee. Place is vert small. Not suitable for gstherings. But nice interior deco. Look up!
J. W.
Brother Baba Budan (BBB) is a breath of fresh air among the hipster coffee scene in Melbourne CBD. Not only this place pack a punch in terms of personalities (check out their quirky chair decors hanging from the ceiling), their coffee is just as sensational as the rest of the cafe. They do mostly to-go basis, unless you have a chance to sit at their single small communal table. For my coffee, I ordered the flat white ($5) and it was stunning! It was perfectly bitter, well bodied with just a nice kick of sourness *LOVE*.
D. J.
Amazing coffee. Fast and friendly service. Excellent pastries etc
J. W.
Crowded and cosy atmosphere. Nice coffee too
C. Y.
Coffee is good. Sadly, it's fame has generated too many curious customers, queue for a drink often extends to outside the cafe. There is very little seating inside. You hardly can relax while having your coffee.
M. H.
Great almond milk latte very nutty flavour. Croissant was also very fresh - small selection of pastries available. Very limited seating and gets very busy so not terribly relaxing but certainly trendy!
K. F.
I adore this place. Its what a coffee bar should be. Busy but you don't ever wait long. Friendly but not invasive. Sophisticated but down-to-earth. A intimate vibe that allows you to sit amongst strangers and still get lost in your own thoughts. But most of all the coffee is exceptional!
B. B.
.... Beautiful little cafe, has chairs hanging from the ceiling and lovely jazz music playing. Very cool vibe .... The coffee is absolutely sublime - has to be equal best in Melbourne .... There's nothing to order on the menu in terms of food, but there are little cakes and friands and those kind of things, that are very nice.
Staff could be a little more engaging.
A. C.
It has pretty good coffee at this place, but try to get an extra shot in your drink, as it's generally more milky than what I liked my coffee for. It's right by the roadside, a short walk away from the main street. They however do not have a lot of sitting space, so it's more a takeaway place than where I'd go for my brunch / coffee. For that, I'll probably head off to Manchester Press down the alley.
T. G.
Such an amazing place this. A tiny cafe that runs like a very well oiled machine. Great vibe and very friendly staff. Expect the queue to be out the door, but it doesn't take long to be up the front ordering your cup of goodness. Walked 2 kms to go here and would walk that again and again. It is a must visit!
K. K.
Best coffee in Melbourne. I was informed that Melbourne has the best coffee, but we had a couple in Victoria Market and wasn't impressed. Then this was the place that was going to be the final judgement. And did. Not. Disappoint. Highly recommend their Latte. Single shot goes a long way.
S. H.
I went to several times. Coffee was always tasty. One day I really wanted to have this coffee so I got off train and went to the shop for coffee in the morning. It looks chef came from the kitchen and he made a coffee was not good at all. It was early morning so probably there is no barista at the time. I want to say please do not sell coffee if there is no barista. Many people still might like this coffee shop. But probably there are some people never come back like me.
J. C. D.
Efficient. Great coffee. Not much seating, but that's cool. It's ironic cause ceiling has loads...
M. N.
Not really into the coffee. Seemed to be quite a dark roast and my soy flat white was made very strong - too strong for the small takeaway cup size. Not particularly easy to drink.
C. L.
Good consistent coffee baba budan hipster! ☺️
H.
Great coffee with delicious toasties
S. A.
Word has it that the best coffee in town can be found here. And I did have a great cuppa-- the coffee was divinely aromatic and full-bodied, albeit a tad acidic for my liking. Still, I would come back.
M. A.
One of my favourite cafes in the CBD! The interior design is very unique!
W. D.
Really nice coffee, friendly service. Quite a small cafe so it may be hard to get a seat, takeaway may be the better option. Good range of pastries and cakes.
M. H.
Exceptionally good single origin coffee. The setting is eclectic and a little crowded but the pastries and cakes to accompany your daily caffeine fix are excellent. Swift service as well as friendly staff make this a go to coffee destination.
D. S.
Delicious coffee and great service. Worth the wait if it's busy, good chats when it's not.
C. J.
Good coffee most of the time. Always busy, but you can sit outside when not raining.
K. H.
My flat white tasted like oriental medicine, not sure why it's considered as one of the best cafe in Melbourne.
G. B.
So great but so busy. Luckily snagged a table seat today.
Coffee is consistently good, most variations are on the menu. Recommend for anyone looking for a high quality coffee and not needing to sit for long.
S.
Most favorite coffee shop in Melbourne. I find they do soy really well. Coffee is nice and strong and warming to the soul. I love the homeliness and cosiness.
N. K.
Cool little cafe nestled down a side street of Melbourne, alternative interior with old chairs hanging from the ceiling.
The coffee was good although not entirely to my taste. The staff were quick and friendly even in a busy period.
L. L.
If someone asks me: Which is the only one cafe I should visit in Melbourne if I only have one chance. My answer would be: Brother Baba Budan. (though they are not my favourite) The reason is simple: They make best quality and decent coffee, and the shop is just so.....cool. In addition, my feeling toward the taste of their coffee is: pure! That's what you can taste from their coffee, and it takes concentration and hard work.
B. M.
Best coffee we have found in Melbourne. Very busy, we were lucky yo get a table. Had an iced latte, wife had iced americano, both were very good. Will be back to try the pastries.
A. S.
Went all the way looking for the best reviewed coffee in town. Its a tiny premises, good decor (its different), the "coffee" roasted with a mix of beans which is a little different but was pretty average when you consider the time I spent looking for it. For a change, they didn't have a Menu, just order a coffee :S
J. M.
Loving the batch brew filter coffee. It's been a while but happy to be back.
T. M.
Really amazing coffee with no gimmicks. This is the most consistently good coffee shop I have been to. Every time it is full of flavour, and not at all bitter. A white latte is my recommendation.
R. M.
Nice and cozy spot, very friendly staff and delicious coffee. Was lucky to find a place to sit on a Sunday! Only gave it 4 stars as Touchwood in Richmond has raised the bar high for coffees and also the cafe is small which means you don't always find a seat. But i would visit again :)
N. D.
One of the best coffee I ever had ever! I only wished they had bigger mug sizes, and I actually felt that the takeaway cups are indeed larger (But it could be that my eyes are playing tricks on me).
L. B.
I've been twice here and always busy. whether it's afternoon or morning, people keeps coming. Despite the rush, the place is full of energy and great coffee brewed by very skilled baristas. Staff is very helpful with anything even with choosing the right coffee beans if you want to grab some home for later.
A. C.
Good coffee in a funky setting. Can be quite busy so staff have limited time to answer questions.
E. Y.
Small and quaint little cafe at the corner. Had a simple latte since its in the morning, but boy.. I am blown away by the coffee. Requested for the seven seeds expresso blend, it really goes well with the steam milk. You know that you are having a well crafted coffee once you take the first sip. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Can see why this place packs with crowds.
C. J.
They do have very tasty and well rosted coffees but it is to busy and small place to enjoy the coffees. It should be balaced both tast of coffee and place allow to have relex if it can be a good cafe. It was hard to enjoy tast of coffee due to pressures from packed customers in the small shop.
융.
Very kind staff. So great Coffee
e. k. c. h.
Good vibes. Great coffee , efficient and friendly staffs. Good for a quick coffee break but it's small little coffee house means no comfy seat like the typical big coffee chain that u can do work or read book .
I. N.
It's a good place for coffee but used to be a lot better a year ago. It's very hipsterish and attracts a mixed crowd of all types which is a good and bad thing. Would come back for coffee and to meet friends. But wouldnt say it's best coffee in melbourne as there is so much competition that goes unnoticed.
K. G.
The coffee in-house [S/O LB] was phenomenal but the beans I took home were even better. The [potentially limited] Golden Gate blend is fantastic for those who enjoy a darker, fuller flavour profile. Best I've had in a long time, and after a few disappointing 7 Seeds experiences, puts them pack in the top 3.
Service, even though packed to the brim and busy as always, was still friendly and efficient.
BBB continues to be an essential part of any trip to Melbourne.
N. A.
Very delicious coffee. A bit crowded! Ordered flat white and it tasted really delicious! Price around 4.5$. Unfortunately there is no packed sugar for take awAy !
A. G.
Enjoyed a delicious single origin batch brew. A nice and cozy specialty cafe.
A. B.
Has lost some of the shine it used to have. music too loud for such a small place. I was unable to hear anything the person sat next to me was saying. Coffee was still good but there are quite a lot of places about that serve up coffee of a similar quality.
D.
Good coffee and very nice atmosphere inside! Good music and good staff!
C. S.
This has actually always been one of my favourite coffee locations. They really know how to make one of the very best coffees. The coffee is so full-bodied and enjoyable.
T. W.
Seriously overated, came here with high expectation but really disappointed with average coffee quality, not even close to self made flat white and macchiato at home using Barista Express and Di Lorenzo beans. I've tried seven seeds' bean before, taste is towards the sweet end, not strong at all, don't like it.
J. R.
Nice enough coffee but just feels like they’re full of themselves. I’ll take my coffee without sugar or pretentiousness please. This is Melbourne, the city of amazing coffee and talented baristas.
J. R.
Cold brew here can be outstanding, but it varies somewhat. The espresso-based coffee is more consistently good. Shame the place is so tiny, and it is a little pricey, but it's still a favourite.
A. M.
One of the best coffee i have ever tried. WORTH A TRY
E. B.
Warm day so went for the cold brew. Friendly staff, but was a little surprised when my coffee came in a takeaway cup - considering I was dining in.
Coffee was delicious and refreshing, but for $5 just a tad more presentation couldn't hurt.
M. S.
The place is little bit small but it’s cozy. Coffee is really good.
F. E. R. N. Y.
Fantastic coffee that really accentuated the flavor or the bean. Friendly staff. A small shop which adds to the character of the environment. The space and aroma are perfect. One of the better coffees I've had.
S. A.
I made the mistake coming to Brother Baba Budan upon opening on a public holiday. To sample this coffee and decide if it is in fact as good as the hype is akin to critiquing a fine wine during an earthquake. The coffee is superb, food was good but as Brother Baba gains popularity, this delicious coffee will be lost amongst all the external noise and chaos.
O. R.
A nice little spot to grab coffee. They had one barrista who also served some snacks so the espresso was left to sit until the cashier poured the milk. They use Seven Seeds, which is a positive. However, there are plenty of 4-star-plus coffees in town.
M. S.
Very nice atmosphere, coffee and interesting interiors! So crowded but not wait for long.
N. H.
Small but extremely busy cafe near Emporium. Famous for having numerous chairs as an interior design on ceiling. Pretty good coffee with smooth taste!
A. I.
Just the way coffe should be! Melbourne's lattee standards has risen the Bar!.. you won't be disappointed! Great vibe, staff and really awesome coffee.. A must do bucket list for Melbourne's finest latte.
Regards Polished Concrete Pty Ltd
J. P.
Such delicious Melbourne coffee. It's rich and strong and they don't mess around with too much else on the menu. Just *excellent* coffee and a few pastries.
E.
Great coffee, not the best I’ve had in Melbourne, but still very good. Friendly & helpful staff. Extremely busy. Recommend takeaway only.
E. O. C.
I absolutely love the Coffee here! (Plus They use 7 seeds coffee beans). The cafe's set up is really cool too! A must visit place for Coffee lovers.
H. H.
Really good coffee with nice staff and cozy place. I had a flat white coffee for 4.5$. There might be just few minutes wait before you could get a seat and when seating inside, you do not have much space to do anything other than drinking your coffee.
V.
One of the best coffee shops in Victoria, if not Australia! Cold drip my fave but all drinks and snacks are equally high quality!
L. G.
If you like good coffee, this place is for you, in the heart of CBD. I never had to wait more than 5 minutes, no matter how busy it was. It's small though, I could only sit in a few times - but always my first choice for takeaway in the CBD! They serve Seven Seeds coffee.
T. C.
Best mocha in melb. I always drink flatwhite but the mocha tastes better than flatwhite here.
P. B.
One of my all time favourite cafes...ever... The coffee is rich and punchy and always consistent. I've been coming here for over 7 years and walk away with a fantastic coffee every time. You must come here!
N. M.
Small cafeteria with great coffee.
We ordered about 30 coffees for an excursion. Sam was very accommodating in organizing them.
Not enough place to sit down besides a couple of tables.
R. Y. J. Y.
cozy, trendy and tasty. Lots of chairs up on the ceiling and lots of spaces on the ground. Nice coffee and very friendly staffs. love to recommend this to anyone who loves coffee
L. F.
Super cosy, I spend a lot lf my free time 'cafe hopping' and this place is one of my favourites. Keep in mind it is very cosy (which I like), offers very friendly service & fantastic, consistent coffee. Great example of 'Melbournes cafe culture'
D. M.
Amazing coffee, will come here again for sure!
S. W.
Some coffee blogs ranked this as one of top coffee in the country.
S. B.
One of the top three coffee shops for me in Melbourne with nice choice of some pastries.
The best thing is that this is one of the very few coffee shops in Melbourne that opens till 5 pm.
Keep going!
A. J.
Quirky - few of the best coffee places in Melbourne. Best is, Baba Budan opens all days of the week. It is a strong, hot coffee. Just the blend you crave for after breakfast and lunch each day.
J. P.
Best coffee in Melbourne CBD hands down. Rare to get Almond milk and to then be surprised by the fact the make their own was a bonus. Keep up the ace work ! I’ll be back
J. S.
Easily the best coffee option to get you through a big session of cbd shopping, just a stones throw from Bourke Street mall and Emporium. Seven seeds coffee, made by expert baristas, combined with great service. What more can you ask for in a coffee shop?? The range of sweet treats they get in are pretty amazing too!
S. Y.
Funny name for a coffee shop. Serves good coffee. Love their great and hipster decor with the ceiling chairs. Definitely will be back!
A. D.
Great coffee. Quick service.
S. S.
At the heart of any good thing is a certain beautiful, healing quality. Brother Budans definitely fills that criteria. Incredible tasting coffee, made by knowledgeable, skilled staff will put you back together first thing in the morning, or whenever you manage to get through the throngs of people clambering to get inside. A small assortment of beautiful cakes and pastries and all delivered with incredible, friendly customer service.
BBB is an absolute must if you like nice things.
Q. F.
Quality coffee, one of the better ones getting around in the Melbourne cbd. The place is tiny and you're basically standing on top of people to order your coffee. Virtually no seating.
R.
This place definitely lives up to the hype! Named after an Indian Sufi Saint, who initially smuggled the 7 beens out of middle-east to plant them back home. Not much was a saint, was he ?
Anyways, the coffee smells amazing, and the place smells strongly like the - well coffee. It is the best coffee around.
A. S.
When people in Melbourne, the most fanatical city in the world when it comes to coffee, queue to pay $4.50 for a small coffee, then it must be damn good...and it is.
G. F.
Best coffee in CBD. Yes it is so popular that you have to line up but the service is fast and friendly, the coffee smooth and tasty. There is a limited variety of cakes and pastries. They also sell tea.
A. Y.
Melbourne OG coffee shops, they set a bar for other shops to follow years after they opened. Many shops around the world take inspiration from this place. Take a seat and enjoy some quality time here.
P. N.
It's been a bit hit and miss of late and it's not cheap, so I do expect consistency. Hipster staff are aloof and self-absorbed in their own conversation. For example, I went in there recently and said I'd like to drink in. They insisted I take a seat rather than order right away. 20 minutes later (there is a constant stream of people ordering) I had to request service and the lady looked at me like I was a pain.. but they really weren't that busy, just faffing around. I feel like they're resting on their laurels a little and need to make more of an effort.
M. K.
Specialty Coffee Shop Serving Pastries With Chairs Hanging From The Ceiling...
M. L.
Super popular cafe with the queue stretching out to the street. Great vibes with communal table and natural melbourne sunshine streaming through large front window. I had a piccolo: Seven seeds seasonal blend. Beautiful drop. Lovely friendly staff. I Love melbourne!!!
S. C.
Been in Melbourne for 1 year now and this is the closest to a good coffee I've had. Great ambience, freindly staff, a litte pricey but good coffee is worth the extra $. Definitely go try it.
J. C.
It really is the best coffee in town. I always get a weak long black because I don't want the milk to take away from the amazing flavour. They have a few pastries of a morning but otherwise there's no food.
S. C.
A go to place for caffeine every time we're in the city.
M. Y.
My absolute favourite coffee in Melbourne.
J. A. T.
Tiny corner shop serving coffee from seven seeds, decent cold brew
S. G.
Fantastic coffee and the best pastries in Melbourne! The pastries may be priced on the higher side compared to a bakery, but they are worth every cent!!
b. w.
Dropped in here for a quick coffee and it was packed. Came due to google local reviews and having seen this in mags. Really nice decor/ quirky and grungy. As I got in and sat down, girl who the server knows came in ordered a coffee and they proceeded to talk for 6+ minutes without taking my order. Big minus. Lamington was on the dry side; looked great on the plate but disappointing. Coffee was good . The service burp was probably bad timing but seriously, not hard to ask "What can I get you mate" 10 seconds.
T. A.
When I first moved to Melbourne, Brother Baba Budan is the "must try" coffee.
Their coffee is strong with a lot of flavour but definitely lived up to the expectation. I buy their beans and send them back to family too
D. K.
I heard about their coffee and decided to give it a go. And I am glad I did. THE best coffee I ever had in Melbourne to date. Well done guys, keep it up.
A. S.
Great coffee and really friendly service.
R. S.
Good takeaway coffee in the city
C. X. R.
I felt like Alice in Wonderland with a caffine itch. Chairs hang from the ceiling giving you the falling through the hole after chasing the white rabbit feel. loved it. The barista's and cashier are just the perfect combo of friendly yet cool, perfect for the hipster vibe this place has got going. Seven Seeds coffee is my favorite tasting brew in town, LOVE!
T. L.
Edgy little coffee shop serving up some tasty coffee and light snacks in a funky space. Short wait times. Staff don't interact too much, so it sometimes feels like a production line, but if you're in a hurry, this is perfect!
W. C.
Found this place on the Bean Hunter App and it's definitely worth the rating it has, great Coffee
O. M.
Great coffee.. Cant go as far as saying the best coffee ive had .. But ranks pretty high
Pretty strong but has a mild bitterness.. There coffee grows on u pretty quick and u tend to want more
Id prefer a milk thats a bit better frothed and creamier
L. K. H.
Rich, aromatic, flavourful coffee
g.
Listen up caffeine lovers: This is the place for you! Great coffee, cutest little interior and decor with chairs dangling from the ceiling.
Very limited number of chairs on the floor though.
M. A.
One of Melbourne's hidden gems. They have their own blends of coffee - I especially live the one with the orangy flavor - in a cozy atmosphere
P.
After trying this spot several times, I would say coffe is nice; BUT weak white coffees, overheated filtered black coffee, way overpriced.
The ambient is nice and service usually friendly.
R. T.
One of the best coffee in town that represents Melbourne as a "coffee town". You won't find any coffee that taste the same with the perfect combination of the seeds and barista
S. Ü.
Best coffee in Melbourne 👌👌
R. W.
Absolute best coffee in Melbourne hands down. I've been coming here every single time I've visited Melbourne for 3 plus years and it has never once disappointed. Thanks!
S. B.
Been living in AU for over a year now is Brisbane but went for a quick holiday to Melbourne and was told to stop here for a coffee....BEST coffee I have had since coming to Oz!! Their cappucino was simply amazing. WOW!
D. V.
Best coffee in Melbourne! Great experience every time. Neat little cafe too 😁 i do highly recommend this place 🌟 🌟 🌟🌟🌟
A. B.
This shop is an example of hard work and passion for superior standards. High quality and best tasting coffee and probably one of the best here in Melbourne. Highly recommended!
M. K.
Great chai latte w/ delicious ice cream. Excellent quaint/unique atmosphere. No wifi, but I had my phone and the environment made it worth it. Awesome little coffee shop.
R. W.
great coffee, cute place in the heart of Melbourne CBD. Love it!
C. P.
my 1st choices for melb coffee ... real hidden gem ...if you want to try seven seeds roaster beans better come this place that has great coffee and atmosphere .. the ppl attentive and clean...
J. L.
Go in the afternoon when they're about to close. Decent coffee.
H. W.
Very good service comes with Good Coffee. House blend espresso is so good. All of you will love it. But for filtered coffee, I think it could be better than this. Btw come here and enjoy your coffee : )

Great little hole in the wall for great coffee. Nearly as good as the coffee from "the chapel" in Burnie Tasmania, but brother Budan uses a blend where as the chapel is single origin.
Enjoyed both coffees and the excellent hot chocolate
J.
Fantastic coffee and great pastries. It's normally packed yet the staff still seem to efficiently get through the madness in a professional and friendly manner. It's a cracking little coffee joint.

I am not a Melbournite but make time for a visit to BBB each time I am in this beautiful City. The coffee is rich, strong & picks you up while the venue is small & packs a cool punch with the decor & vibe. There is more seating hanging from the ceiling, but if you do find a spot to sit & have a little time, its a great place to take a minute or 20 over a coffee or two.
M. S.
Perfect coffee and delicious pastry. The staff are all friendly. The space are small but comfortable. Highly recommend this place. Definitely will comeback.

I love their flat white, really good taste, creamy, smells good
D. D.
Probably the best almond flat white in the city. They make their own almond milk which also includes macadamia and dates for a bit more creaminess and sweetness. Delicious!
M. Y. Y.
One of the best coffee places in town with a quirky set up with chairs attached to the ceiling. I bought tonnes of beans for my Aeropress and they have been so tasty!
J. R.
Beautiful coffee and a great small place!
R. M.
Great coffee!!! Unique decor and tasty cakes...staff are a bit grumpy but the delicious coffee makes up for it 😁
J. H.
Simply an amazing coffee shop, I absolutely love the layout of it and they definitely make the most beautiful coffee ive ever had. Absolutely awesome store should be on your bucket list :)
C. D.
Good flat white but nothing angelic. Crappy Chai latte. (Best Chai latte is at Neighbors in St. Kilda.) A bit underwhelming after reading all the 5 star reviews. Gotta give respect for employing mentally challenged baristas. Trying to explain to me that their filtered coffee is "completely different" than American style machine drip coffee. "We use a filter full of coffee grounds and pour hot water over it." Genius
A. H.
I have never written a review for a coffee shop, but this place is great! Delicious coffee, nice staff, quick service, can pay by card AND they give a discount for keep cups.
C. M.
Awesome coffee and pastries
M. M.
My previous experience here has been great which was a few years ago, but late December I ordered an almond latte and the coffee tasted awful and it left a dreatful after taste. Service was great.
B.
Very good coffee. One of the best in Australia.
A. A. A. C.
one of he best coffee in Melbourne
H. J.
Cozy place and nice ice coffee
N. L.
Excellent coffee, bring your takeaway cup though because seating is limited...very limited.
J. C.
Great coffee as usual. Standards haven't dropped for the last few years. Only thing is coffee takes a while but fine if you have the time.
E. Y.
Very nice and unique place. Very cramped up though more seats needed on the floor. Was very crowded when we went, Had to get take away. Coffee is nice though and peanutbutter chocolate biscuit is to die for.
P. K.
So amazing coffee. Unique interior and nice staffs. The coffee taste is different from others. It has a rich flavour and perfect balance. If I go to Melbourne, I should be there again.
Try this cafe!
E. L.
Best coffee in Melbourne for sure! Beware that it's always busy but its worth the hustle and bustle for a good brew.
강.
I like here! however today i paid 20boxes for 2coffees and got 1.50only jajajajaja i was so happy to having a coffee so totally forgot to check the change it was my mistake :) but coffee is awsome still i would like to go there!
H. K.
Great croissants (if you can get one). You’ve got to get there at the crack of dawn to get one though. I went 3 times and I still could not get there early enough to get a regular croissant.
P. R.
Really good coffee. Not too bitter but strong enough at the same time. The best that I have had in Melbourne till now.
S. M.
Potentially one of the most-photographed little cafe in Melbourne. Gets quite busy quite often, but worth a visit - they still serve coffee that is among the city's best.
R. D.
In a city blessed with amazing coffee shops, this one stands out. Really great little spot with fantastic espresso drinks - and a great logo on a tee!
Q. H.
Phenomenal coffee with super knowledgeable and helpful staff. Wish I was stopping through on my way back so I can stock up on beans!
J. H.
Proper iced coffee with ice cream. And indeed proper regular coffees too.
H.
Solid spot for some coffee, cozy place, cool to just sit and hang
T. W.
Very cute, cozy little place in the heart of Melbourne CBD. Great coffee, very trendy with the chairs on the ceiling. Offers quality both takeaway and eat in.
J. S.
Great coffee & affordable, friendly staff too
M. G.
Best soy latte of all time.
S. D.
Great coffee...always has been..just always a little bit confusing where to order. Not sure who the staff are, and who the customers are!!
G. R.
Some of the best coffee in melbourne. Small selection of good quality pastries. Often busy but this adds to the atmosphere. Really good service from my experience
D. H.
For many Melbournites, it their regular haunt for exceptional coffee, but it is so frequently busy - with so many more choices in the immediate area, arguably with better food and coffee, there is little reason to bother.
P. H.
Great atmosphere. Friendly (but not overly so) staff. Great coffee. Opens at 7am on a Saturday, which is at least an hour before their competition.
C.
What happened to the bubbly staff? Was such an excellent vibe with the all-girl team. As I local, I don't trek here on weekends- crazy busy & annoying. Mid-week is nice, and still relaxing even with a full room of people.
A. L.
Hidden in plain sight. Coffee spot visited by tourists and locals. Lovely coffee and interesting decor of hanging chairs from the ceiling.
E. B.
Everything you would expect from a solid Melbourne Cafe. Staff were very friendly and the great vibe is really relaxed.
No X factor but still a must see on any inner city coffee crawl.
D. F.
Hello to the best coffee in Melbourne. Love the feel of this place, cool staff and simply divine coffee.
Brother Baba Budan, please keep producing the goods.
O. S.
The place is relatively small but it doesn't matter when you get one of the best coffee in the city. It smells delisious, looks creative and feels really good!!
B. M.
Used to be my favourite place for coffee each time I visited Melbourne, haven’t been for ages. Atmosphere still lovely and coffee pretty good.
S. I.
Quirky little shop, good coffee, great friendly staff! Limited seating which is why i gave it 3 stars.... we had take aways and walked through the city 😊😊
K. M.
Beautiful place with fantastic coffee!!
서.
The chairs hanging from the ceiling gave me a good impression. Then, the taste of coffee, service, harmony of customers made it perfect experience.
R. M.
Great coffee and baristas. worthy of their almost perfect positive reviews. It’s tough to get a seat, id recommend a coffee to go.
S. Y. W.
The great rating brought me over and I was not disappointed. There was a queue but the service was rather fast, got my coffee under 10minutes after entering. Coffee was great!
K. O.
Smells of delicious coffee once you step inside! The place is small but decorated so well. Highly recommended coffee to go!
N. H.
Small space, but very trendy. Fast and friendly service. The coffee is by far the most consistent, and hands down the best I've ever had! SPECTACULAR!
A. T.
Best coffee I have had in Melbourne and the best Almond Croissant I have had anywhere. Small shop but recommend a visit regardless.
F. A.
Great coffee!
I. T.
One of the best coffee shops in Melbourne, without doubt. The ceiling chairs add an interesting look to the shop but it is very cramped and gets very busy, but the coffee is worth it.
J.
Probably the best coffee in Melbourne, consistently excellent quality, fast and friendly service in an interesting, though small shop. Can be a bit of a wait during peak times though.
J. T.
Not only amazing coffee, but super nice staff. Even when rushed. Can be a bit crowded if that thing isn't your thing. They use seven seeds coffee
G. H.
Wherever there is a queue day in day out, to me this indicates the coffee must be good and it is.
A. K.
Very good coffee!! When you say a good coffee in Melbourne it means a super super good in other cities around the world :)
E. G.
If you are a coffee lover and you never came here... You must come now... Personally, I consider this one of the best batista coffee in Melbourne city.
T. M. S. A.
Decided to try their coffee after witnessing a massive crowd outside this cafe. Great coffee but the staff could be more welcoming.
G. M.
Definitely one of the best coffee's in Melbourne! Lovely staff as well.
E. K.
One of the best cups of coffee in Melbourne! Doesn’t disappoint! Get a magic :-)
B. R.
Excellent! There isn't anything less to say about this place. The decoration is really great and staff are always very friendly,k welcoming and make you feel like you are part of the family. I can't afford to visit very often, but if I could I would literally live in this place.
J. O.
Just the asthetic alone makes the coffee taste amazing! Gorgeous little laneway nearby. This place is always bustling
E. M.
I enjoy my Piccolo Latte at a corner inside the cafe in a morning. Coffee is strong and powerful yet smooth.
E. L.
Definitely one of the best coffee in Melbourne!!
R. B.
Brilliant coffee and a cool quirky atmosphere. Would recommend. Limited menu and a wee bit cramped but if you can get in then you'll have a great time!
A. L.
Good but not great very very weak tasting coffee
R. F.
Coffee was decent, staff were really friendly, cinnamon scroll was how love feels, but on your tongue.
f. t.
Small little cafe. Serves great coffee and hot chocolate.
W. A.
The single origin coffee is extraordinary
S. L.
Great city spot for your coffee hit. Consistently good brews (milk-based or filter/pourover) in a tiny but cosy setting.
C.
Favourite cafe so far, some great drinks with sick music (80s J Pop when I went) in the background. Good vibes.
J. P.
Crowded, always crowded, but for a very good reason. Be patient, pick your spot and enjoy.
陳.
The best choice of great coffees
y.
Coffee is great, love the cakes, but it can get crowded due to its popularity. $4.20 for a longblack
c. w.
Ordered 2 Caps, one in mug and one in takeaway cup. Cappuccino in mug was amazing would say 5/5. However, the other was disappointing. Consistency is the missing factor.
c. b.
Busy little espresso bar, but we'll worth the tight squeeze to get in.
Efficient service, very quick barista and beautifully creamy but full flavoured coffee.
J. G.
One of my favourite coffee places in the city. If you love coffee, you got to check out this place for sure!
C. T.
Perfect coffee. Has the best control if the milk and temperature. Naturally sweet, no need sugar. Best taste of the real coffee.
Y. H.
Good coffee, excellent service!
J. S.
Small coffee bar with a ceiling full of chairs! Good coffee using Seven Seed beans. Friendly efficient service. Popular.
M. M.
Only one of the worlds best places for coffee. Don't take my word for it, The Economist said so too. If only they sold yo-yo biscuits.
K. E.
Espresso Machine: La Marzocco Linea Pierro Bambi
Grinder: Mazzer Super Jolly
Coffee: Seven Seeds
delicious coffee exelent service, definately I will come back again.
K. M.
Nice spot for a quick coffee, funky tunes, open on a Sunday.
T. A.
Great Staff, Coffee is always delicious and always a good range of take home options too. Plus the little shop itself is cool and very insta worthy if thats your thing
j. p.
Visiting from Brisbane, staff were very friendly and fast! Some delicious coffees, would definitely recommend trying the filter!
W. L. N.
Good cuppa latte. Only one size is served.
J.
One of the best coffees in Melbourne! There is not much seating available, but the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is hip.
L. R. S.
Insanely tasty hot chocolate!! Looked amazing. The cafe is so quirky looking aswell with the chairs hanging above it feels like something from Harry Potter
R. R.
Coffee. Great
Customer service. Great
Claire. Greatest!!!!
She stood with us explaining EVERYTHING even though there was a line. The rest of the team pooled in for her.
G. A.
Top class coffee.
