Interesting cafe shop, a lot to explore, love their plants decor. Nice creamy coffee, friendly staff and good food. Clean and spacious toilet. Everything is convenient. They actually have hens in the courtyard. It's a funny experience of listening to the background music with hen's calling along. It would be a very kid's friendly cafe as well. We will definitely come back with the kids. AND I love their real grape vines and succulents.

Came here with a large group of friends for brunch. The outdoor dining at the back is fantastic, there’s a chicken cage as well. We all enjoyed the food, standard assortment of breakfast and burgers. Also decent choices for vegetarians. The standout was the gay time dessert bao. First time I’ve eaten a lightly fried bao other than in asia. Def worth trying.

Came for the chickens, stayed for the amazing food! My 3 year old loved seeing the hens and the novelty of a kids milkshake in a special glass 😄 she also enjoyed her fish n chips. 10/10 for food! My parter had the breakfast board which had a bit if everything and real OJ. I had the southern fried chiggen (sans coriander, cos no🙅‍♀️). If only we had space for a second coffee, as it was 👌🏾 Perfect for families as has change table, super clean and friendly staff.

Brother Hen was great!! Really quick food but great quality and large serving size, all for a good price! They made the eggs exactly as I asked (I used the “special instructions” options on their ordering service. 🍳 Crispy Fried Eggs w pumpkin hummus 🌽 Zucchini Fritters w charred corn and kale Brother Hen would probably be my most visited and most recommended breakfast spot of them all. I’m not someone who returns to the same restaurant all the time but it just consistently hits the spot and is definitely a crowd pleaser with its generous, humble dishes. It is family friendly, a small indoor dining space as well as an outdoor courtyard with an actual chicken coop! My absolute favourite dish here is the zucchini fritters, but I believe you could easily close your eyes, point and pick a winner every time.

Quote simply, the best breakfast ever! Big call - but a hands down winner. Having travelled in from the city to eat here, the four of us were pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem. Every dish that came out of the kitchen looked impressive. Portion size was generous and every barely finished although very tasty. Table consensus was that we need to come back and try the bao. Tumeric latte was amazing. Friendly staff and efficient service. I am surprised there was not a line out the door.

Ricotta hotcakes are to die for. Coffee and service was also very good. This is a hidden gem, away from the main shopping strip with plenty of street parking. Don't miss a visit to the chooks out the back!

We came on a cold, drizzly morning and were keen for baked eggs. Their baked eggs definitely hit the spot, with added pesto goodness and three pieces of fire grilled toast. The zucchini fritters were surprisingly huge with at least six little fritters (slightly gooey) and two poached eggs (with my choice to have them extra done), and a forest of fresh kale - though quite pricey at $22.50. Coffees were also quite good, would come back. Edit: got a second latte and it was PHENOMENAL.

Cool place with a chicken barn in the back. The smoothies were really good and mixtures to make up their flavours were JUST right. The pork quesadillas were delicious, we definitely made a good choice with that one. I wouldn’t recommend the big breakfast plate. It was so anticlimactic and basic. It comes with an freshly squeezed orange juice though, which is a plus. We just didn’t know what to do with it because we ordered smoothies already lol. Service is excellent and friendly. One negative is that I felt it was a bit overpriced. Paid 35 per person for breakfast with a smoothie each.

Brother Hen not only is a beautiful cafe but also a great place to gather with friends and family. Their backyard is simply unique: chickens, plants and herbs. We ordered their famous baked eggs and the breakfast salad with the addition of fried chicken. Food was ready 5 minutes later and goodness me how great it looked! The salad was delicious and fresh, full of flavours and textures. The baked eggs had spices from every corner of the world and it formed a beautiful Symphony in my mouth. Definitely a place to check out and where you will find good food, great people and chickens.

Plenty of delicious food, seating and service. These guys have everything worked out. Fast friendly service, a simply delightful menu and everything is so fresh & tasty. There is four eating areas including the front foot path and out back courtyard. Breakfast and lunch are served with a selection of coffee anytime, although they close by four most days. Try the “Steamed Gua Bao buns” you can get two or 3 to share.

Brother hen hands down has some outstanding food on the menu and seriously don't hold back on the portion sizes, constantly providing the best food around Moonee Ponds. Every time I have been, they have always delivered on the coffee and food with all the freshest produce. The happy and welcoming friendly staff who were more than happy have me, as I usually to stop by on the way to work for my morning coffee or for a catch up with friends. Defiantly recommended! Also the only place i've seen to have pet chickens!

Great tasting Ricotta hotcakes, the fairy floss looks like the chefs grey hair has fallen out on top of the hotcakes according to my niece. This place reminds me of eating at my nonna's house. The house has been turned into a cafe, it's like you have a choice of eating in bedroom 1,2 or 3. It has outdoor seating and a small chicken coop in the back for the kids to check out. It's a good place to visit.

I’ve recently discovered this local trendy cafe. Really cool to see them embrace online ordering & best practice during COVID when eating in. It’s so user-friendly with extras to add or add to your order as you go. Last month went to order my favourite - Zucchini Fritters. Asked the waiter (who happened to be the owner) if they noticed the extra saltiness in the dish and truly went above & beyond to remake, offer another dish or cater to dietary needs. As we were in a bit of a rush, I was overly surprised with how quickly & thoughtful the owner was in preparing a take away salad for me on the run. Thank you Mr. Owner & Brother Hen!! Looking forward to our next return & many more 😊.

This Cafe is very child friendly, uniquely designed with great food & service. Highly recommended for parents with kids as there's an area to see the chickens at the back, change table in the bathroom and they even have paper for drawing with pencils! The service was prompt and friendly with great food recommendations. Excellent for vegetarians as well. I especially loved the over hanging grapes as we ate, very quaint. Lots of parking on the street with easy access to trams. We'll definitely be back.

Worth checking out if you're looking for delicious coffee while in Moonee ponds or out & about exercising, near the lake etc. They have loads of take-home meal options and can stock up on basics while in-store at a super reasonable price, which is great.

It's a little more family oriented with plenty of places for kids to chill out and play in the back courtyard. What a fantastic place! I tried the crispy pork belly steamed bao buns last time I was here. Today I tried the Tunisian eggs with haloumi for something different. So fabulous it was memorable. The chef is clearly very creative with an amazing mix of international cuisine. Worth a visit. Oh, and check out the chickens in the back courtyard, kids will love it.

Love this cafe. Like many cafes in Moonee Ponds it serves Noisette bread and croissants which are delicious. The coffee is very good, most of the staff are really capable and rarely make mistakes. My god, the Golden Gaytime Bao. This has ruined me. I can never be happy with another ice cream sandwich again. I will hunger and yearn all the days of my life for this. I cannot know peace even in my dreams. That rich slick of Nutella, the familiar Gaytime vanilla-and-malt-biccie combo. The bao is even lightly crispy, so the ice cream doesn't soak in too fast. It's worth making the journey from anywhere in Melbourne just for this. I hear they have just added a brownie waffle sandwich. Pray for me.
