🥪 “Baron” Grilled Brisket Pastrami Sandwich At first glance with its original facade still in tact you would assume Butcher 128 was literally, a butcher. Make your way inside and you will find it has been nicely transformed into a cafe, keeping it quite authentic at the front (meat case and all) and out the back an unassuming family friendly courtyard. On the menu you will find an interesting brunch, sandwich and pastry options, most with Vietnamese influences. Their “Baron” Grilled Brisket Pastrami Sandwich sounded so delicious my friend and I both decided we had to try it. It was amazing, the perfect toasted sandwich that wasn’t overpowered by meat. The flavour they got into it makes it something you crave and come back for. I know I definitely will! Coffees and chai’s were great as was the service. Outdoor courtyard could do with some light music. Based on what I’ve had today I was a perfect score. ⭐️ 5/5

It was my first time visiting Butcher 128 today and I had a great experience at this cafe. The food was delicious and the cafe is very clean and tidy, and so are the toilets. I’m such a clean freak, so this is a big thing for me. A very roomy cafe, lots of space and pleasant to be sitting in. The staff are friendly, I look forward to going back again soon. Thank you for the wonderful service today!

Wickedly good pork and other meats served in some creative fusion styles such as the Vietnamese sizzling crepe and Saiguette. Place looks small from the front but there's a ton of tables out the back and even a small outdoor courtyard.

Love this place! So cozy with different seating options (they even have a play area for kids!). Food is outstanding. We tried the Chili Eggs, Persian Eggs, The Classic, Pork belly burger and the Panna. All were phenomenal. My personal favourites were the Chili Eggs and Panna. Also, their house pate is out of this world, totally recommend it!! You will not be disappointed with your meal here. Coffee is also fabulous, I recommend trying the Vietnamese coffee - DELICIOUS!

Don't be deceived by the entrance... Walk out to the back to find a beautiful covered terrace area. Friendly staff and an amazing Meat Hook burger with pork belly that melts in your mouth with crispy crackling.

Nice little cafe tucked away in streets of Yarraville. Don't get confused by the name - it's not a butcher shop. Visited this place for a group lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The menu had good variety and gave vegan options. A little overpriced for my purse. But great ambiance and awesome food with good portions. If you are in a hurry, make sure to get the attention of the staff as this place is quite relaxed.

This is a cute and popular cafe hidden in Roberts St. Food is amazing and well priced. There Vietnamese coffee is unique and delicious, would recommend you give it a try! Great little outdoor area for children out the back but can get very hot in summer. Would be an added bonus if there were some outdoor seating that is dog friendly.

Love it here. I always come back for more! Fit out is great lots of big spaces and a play area for kids. Coffee is good but the food. Oh my nom's the food. My personal recommendation is the Saiguette I usually have it for breakie with an egg. Price is also not too bad you are getting quality and a really filling meal.

Delicious food and lovely staff! We come in with our mums group every week and they are so accommodating with prams and screaming babies. Bathrooms have a change table and the back area has plenty of natural light.

I was keen to try a local business. It doesn't accept dogs inside (that's ok), but they have no outside seating, so we'd thought we’d get takeaway and sit in the park. They only do sandwiches takeaway, but only one option that was veg + gluten-free. Guess we'll spend our $ elsewhere. Considering the proximity to the dog park and the amount of vegans in the area you're narrowing your revenue potential.

I've been a few times and have always had delicious coffee and food. Service staff and owners are great. Had the beef stew (bo Kho) and it was spot on. Great wintery dish and I appreciate them taking a risk and doing something different. Recommended

Amazing brunch cafe! It looks a little dodgy at the front outside but the inside has an incredible setup! (As seen in some of the pictures.) The food is fantastic! Their "Butcher's Big Breakfast" is the best one I've EVER had! The size is perfect to feel full but not stuffed. (Plate is about 10 inches wide.) It's very spacious and deep. There's three sections; front-end is like any normal cafe interior, mid-section (my fav) is covered but open and has a natural/peaceful feel to it, and the back-end is completely open to the sky. The two toilets are both Male/Female, and are very neat and aesthetically-pleasing. Customer service is a bit straight forward but very efficient. They do try to be pleasant to you despite the rush. I'm basically looking for an excuse to go back there again!! I love it to bits! :D

Oh and I've been multiple times and never had to wait longer than 20 minutes for a breakfast or lunch order. If they had an issue in the past on timely service, I don't believe they have one anymore.

Just what the area needed. We go all the time. During the week are a lot of mum's with kids. They generally go out the back, so the front is for couples and singles. Great coffee, the cold one is a revelation. Good is great, and served fast.

Great cafe in the West, with a beautiful courtyard and kids area out back. The name is taken from the former occupant- a butcher for over 40 years. Great Asian inspired menu, and coffee by Symmetry.

Someone prove me wrong, is this the best place to get coffee in the area? The staff here know there coffee, from a filter coffee to a ristretto it is done well and with care. Coffee beans are also available for sale here which looks like their house blend only, as I did enquire about the beans for their filter coffee. The fitout is done well and very inviting. The back part is very open and family friendly - great for little kids, as on the occasions I have been there we did sit at the back. Need to keep your eyes open when trying to find this place. The butcher sign is still hanging over the shop but then again not many shops in this strip.

We went to Butcher 128 for the first time this weekend for brunch. I was expecting parking hassles but had no problem parking just down the street from the cafe. The staff were friendly and efficient when we arrived and we were ushered into the very trendy rear dining area which sits right behind the original butchers shop - I scored a raised booth at the very back of the room. The first thing I noticed was how spacious and quiet the setting was. There were a number of young families there and there was plenty of room for prams and high chairs but very little reflected noise. The area is enclosed but the roofing material is translucent so there is a nice "outdoorsy" feel which is accentuated by plants running the entire length of the room. We ordered coffees to start while we worked our way through the menu. The coffees were delivered very promptly by a cheery waitress who explained the menu to us... a clever fusion of traditional inner-city brunch with a hint of Vietnam. Coming from caffeine central - North Melbourne - I had (slightly arrogantly) low expectations of the coffee but have to admit it was every bit as good as Di Bellas! I opted for the chilli eggs which hit the spot perfectly. My partner chose an amazing smoked salmon, avocado creation that was presented so well, it was almost a pity to eat it! The service was attentive but unobtrusive. A true discovery that i'll be back to enjoy again!!

Love this place. Food is delicious and made with great local produce. Coffee is also very good. Staff very friendly. BUT.... even on a weekday morning, it took almost 40 minutes after ordering for 2 standard breakfast items to be served to us. Its frustrating because I like to be in and out fairly quickly especially for breakfast or brunch. I hope they can improve their serving times because until they do I don't think I'll be back
