Went here on Saturday morning, since it's lockdown again in Melbourne. The guy who served us was very welcoming, and definitely enhance our 'coffee experience'. Helped to decide which coffee beans should we get for our best preference. Got the chance to smelled heaps of damn-good smelling beans. He definitely know what he's doing tho. Had the Columbian for my latte as well, surprisingly delicious with fruity notes. Thanks Cartel.

The venue is located towards the end of Somerset Place and it's everything you want and more. We've been coming here over the years for the batch brew and the occasional single origin coffee that they bring and have never been disappointed. The venue is quite spacious inside and they have a nice selection of little pastries and sandwiches if you're up for it.

10/10 coffee, well worth the visit for coffee lovers. Try the Bkon coffee, it is worth the price, watch the experience of it being brewed in the fancy machine. Lovely service, great atmosphere. Fine for children to visit but no toys or playspace. Accommodates dogs outside but no shady place to sit and can be exposed to the weather. Highly recommend.

Great coffee and toasties in a nice little nook. I'm half feeling guilty letting anyone know it's good. Beautiful space inside and out to accommodate for sunny days and not so sunny ones. Service was quick and accompanied by a smile, the jaffle selection is small and more than adequate. Definitely going on my repeat list. Update - another summer's day another great experience. Coffee lives up to the hype, one of the nicest espresso’s I’ve had locally! Service was very unwelcoming, didn’t receive anything beyond basic interaction from the staff member and felt like I was a bit of an inconvenience to her lunch break. Cups were also a bit muddy on the outside. I will be back, just hope for better experience next time!

This is definitely a hidden gem for coffee lover. Extremely high quality coffee shop with the benefit that they roast their own coffee beans. You can also get coffee beans for your own used. They also provide various options of milk as cow milk alternative, including macadamia milk. The jaffles are yummy, full of flavorsome ingredients and freshly made. They also serve variety of pastry and cakes. There are few medium sized tables inside and outside the shop. Staff are very friendly. This shop is hidden inside a small laneway. Easy access from public transport. Car parking available nearby.

Found this little gem just off Lt. Bourke St when we were trying to find brunch place. The place felt very cozy and from the outside, it looked very inviting. As I was not a coffee person (why the hell I was there then?), we ordered their jaffles, the Pulled Pork and Buffalo Chicken. Both were quite spicy. To be honest, the food looked really basic but the taste was delicious! It had a bit of spicy mayonnaise inside and the meat was very tender. They also had 4 different chilli sauces on the table but the mustard one was the winner for me. Alex, the guy who served us was very friendly and he was quite fast making orders and serving customers even though he was the only one there. It's a highly recommended place if you want to try jaffles or even if you don't know about jaffles, you should give it a try!

In typical Melbourne style, this trendy cafe popped up in 2019 in a non- descript CBD laneway. The space is very inviting with outdoor laneway seating, perfect to soak in the summer vibe. Coffee was a little weak for my liking, but the gluten free chocolate cake was am absolute treat, especially when warmed up.

Amazing coffee in a hidden Melbourne laneway. I am from Sydney and haven't found anywhere better for coffee in Melbourne. I stumbled across it one day and have been coming back every morning before work in Melbourne since. Great selection of beans and the coffee is A grade. I've ordered online in bulk and purchased in store. Staff super friendly and will make recommendations based on your preferred tastes. The price is higher than average but worth it for the quality. Jaffles are tasty too with a good selection of chilli sauces. Has rescued me from a couple of hangovers! Keep up the great work guys!

I was initially impressed with the genius signage and the convenience provided by this cafe in the form of lots of smart phone charing cables lying around. However, I'm quite disappointed by the food. I ordered a pulled pork bagel and a soft-boiled egg and spinach as sides. The egg was hard-boiled rather than soft. The bagel was too hard which made eating it a real chewing exercise. Last but not least, how could a cafe serve packaged potato chips! The coffee was average.

Nice cafe which reminds me of the Ironworks Co in Bristol as regards to atmosphere. Could do with some brioches though - what if I want a continental breakfast? Also contains the greatest misleading sign of all time outside (see picture). I mean it is down an alleyway, so they have to attract attention somehow.

Great little cafe tucked away down the lane. Coffee was smooth, strong and no bitter aftertaste - great for black coffee in the morning. Service was super friendly and inviting, was warmly welcomed and quickly served. Cafe eatery is not extensive but still a great - fresh crossiants to complement your coffee, as well as sandwiches and cookies (to name a few). You can sit inside or outside on more communal bench & table style seating.

Highly recommend this place for a calm atmosphere to enjoy a truly decent coffee. I think their cold brew is one of my favourite in Melbourne. I've come here many times but the reason I'm writing this review today is because of the service. The sole barista on today (Saturday afternoon) handled quite a busy cafe quickly and made sure to check on everyone. I had an iced latte with oat milk and orange cake. Orange cake seems delivered from factory, and coffee was very acidic. Too bad for me, I am not a really huge fan of Melbourne coffee trend. I prefer dark roasted nutty flavor coffee. Everything was good. Just good. However, absolutely Over priced That's the reason of 3 stars.

Randomly stumbled upon this place, and I gotta say these guys know there beans.. he said it has these certain types of notes and usually when baristas say that and you try you kinda dont taste it.. but I tasted every note he described, no such thing as bitter coffee here... I do think he needs a team there few times I've been there, he has been on his own and struggles to keep up with orders, so if you do go there when it's busy give him some space and patience to compose himself he is the most knowledgeable barista I have met and super friendly.

The first time i have ever tried an exotic coffee from Ethiopia, beautiful tropical flavours not normally found in a coffee. When i was charged $10 i was surprised but it was well worth it. Best coffee i have had in a long time.

I came here purely because Deliveroo were doing a promotion and was a little skeptical at first considering the coffee prices started at $5. But although the barrista was super busy with the influx of customers he remained friendly and professional the entire wait. Chatting and talking to us while carefully juggling coffee making an tea brewing. So when I finally did get my coffee the wait didn't matter all that much yet when I tasted it I could definitely see why it was worth a full note. If you're ever in the area I suggest giving this place a go! I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

The little Mule is an obscure place with a simple interior decor of white, wood and space. Coffee is great with an earthy smooth taste one of the few places I can have a long black without winking excessively. Food is mainly things on bread or bagels but good if you want something light. I thoroughly enjoy the service and coffee of this place and would recommend.

Very friendly staff however food is very slow (not the fault of chef, as they don’t have a kitchen, just a job and grill behind the counter), once food arrived a little disappointed,$6 “Corn Fritters” was one tiny fritter, and the $4 “eggs” were one egg, plus a portion of $4 Haloumi was tiny. I don’t feel it’s very good value for money. Generally, not a bad little joint but feel that they need to up their game to get repeat custom!

Tucked away on the side of a lane-way, don't let it's location put you off. Recently with new owners Cartel Roasters has newly sourced coffee and let me tell you it will blow your mind. The new top dog? I certainly think so. Unlike the bland coffee you will get from other places, when they say its got floral or chocolate notes, you better believe it does. Each sip blows my mind with flavour, one of the best coffee places in the CBD at present. They even have leaf based chai and (for the moment) free sampling of an expensive Kenyan sourced coffee.

I discovered this place down one of Melbourne's ubiquitous laneways a few months ago (ok, it's really more of a side street, but laneway sounds cooler). I now go back every few weeks to have a leisurely start to my day; reading the news on my phone, eating baked eggs (with beans, chorizo and gruyere) accompanied by a few cups of excellent coffee. I hope The Little Mule remains relatively undiscovered. Not because I don't want them to succeed, but I love that I can have this place almost to myself at 7.30 on a Friday morning. It's the perfect way to ease out of a hangover.
