Absolutely delightful! Chill vibes, friendly Staff and the food… amazing! On warm days it’s really nice to sit outside, watch the people walk by and to enjoy your meal. The Reuben toastie (16$) is nice and crunchy on the outside, and generously filled, delicious. Their flat white is great too (as almost always in Melbourne). If you dine in you get a free bottle of water. :)

Randomly stumbled across this place and let me say, it was such a beautiful surprise. Awesome food, great coffee and great service. The photo may look basic, but the flavours weren’t, making a simple breakfast absolutely delicious.

Small cozy breakfast place with solid menu that's not too dependent on egg dishes. Coffee was on the small side, but very nice and made well. Great for a morning brunch with couples or friends, not overly child friendly.

nice place to do breakfast / brunch eclectic waiters which seems to work well with clientelle can be quite cold in cooler months with not so good heating indoors Luckily it has lots of gas heaters outdoors :) Good vegetarian and vegan options. Good coffee:)

Great atmosphere, super popular for midweek. Offers solid coffee and a menu bigger than your face! Something here for everyone including freshly grinded juices, specials like the salt & pepper French toast with bacon, pecorino and tomato salsa (pictured). Absolutely full of flavour, will certainly be popping on again. Baby friendly with high chairs at the ready though could be a squeeze in busier periods.

Nice little atmosphere..it can become crowded during peak times with little space for movement..coffee was made very well..it had quite a strong bitter after taste..not really my liking though but was good for someone who enjoys strong coffee..I had their special toastie - mac and cheese, something very innovative and was really yummy..overall a good little cafe:)

Nice cozy place to have food. You need to be cautious if you are Asian as there serving size is huge and usually two portion suffice easily for 3 people. Food is nice and warm. It's also very tasty provide you aren't looking for Indian spices.

really good range of food for an all-day weekend breakfast/brunch; great place to bring people because there is guaranteed to be something for everyone on the menu. The selection of toasties they have available also looks amazingly tempting, even though I have never managed to get that far, since there are so many excellent things to try on the menu. Catch the tram (stop right outside) or walk though, as there isnt much parking around.

Thoroughly enjoyed the Cubano toasties I ordered, the flavors go so well together and the portion is great. I also had a bit of the huevos rancheros my friend ordered and it's delicious too. They mixed up my drink order but quickly rectified it, good service all around. I would definitely head back to try other dishes.

I'm a self-confessed foodie, and with the size and variety of Melbourne's vaguely hipster-chic brunch scene, it's easy to literally never eat at the same place twice. But I always come back to Hot Poppy! And I always order the same thing - the Mawby Cubano toastie, pickles on the side. Their service - and servers - are lovely, the coffee is fresh and hot, and the food is reasonably priced (around $15 for a frankly ENORMOUS sandwich that takes me right through the day). It's got a super cute vibe and I've had plenty of dates here with my partner. He always gets the full breakfast spread, and basically licks the plate clean at the end. :)

Hot Poppy rocks. Great food, busy ass place. Bear in mind these guys work reaaaal hard in a very cramped space. At busy times such as sunday brekkkie/lunch there is often some, snotty, arty farty peeps, getting snippy that their rainforest approved coffee and organic fed goats milk latte took longer than five minutes. Ignore 'em. You need to be patient when its busy and if there is ever a wait here its always worth it. Portions are huge, hot , fresh, and served with a smile and often will make whet you want and how you want with zero fuss. Staff are fab and never had anything bad here.

Eggs Benedict with hash is my go to dish. Probably one of the best ones I have tasted in the area. Good eggs, crisp hash and really nice creamy luscious sauce.

The chai latte is delicious, but the amount is three-squared, and the Cuban sandwich has a strange smell. The menu says pork, but I had a bite to eat because of the cheese.
