Comments of Manchester Press

Great selection of pretty looking desserts. This place can accommodate a decent crowd. Loved it and it was a good experience. Also the prices are very reasonable, especially for 'Avo Chicken Sandwich'.
Furthermore , this place has various coffee so everyone can enjoy.
K. F.
Great customer service, food and coffee here! The staff are welcoming and show a passion for coffee. They were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. My bagel was generously stacked with toppings and was delicious. The coffee I had was super and I bought two bags of it to take home. Tucked down a quiet street with a few other interesting businesses around, I recommend a visit to this spacious but vibrant coffee shop.

Want to escape the hustle bustle in city and go back in time. This is the place to be. Manchester press. Good ambiance, vintage touch. Tried their avo toast, acai bowl, cap and detox drink. Worth the value and service. Keep up the good work guys.
J. J.
Love this cafe so much, one of the best coffee that I had in Melbourne!😁
R. L.
Visited a while ago. Food were tasty and coffee was good.
T. V. (.
The bagels here are excellent and the coffee good as usual. A good representation of Melbourne the food capital of Australia. Yours truly @fooderarri
R. H.
I had coffee here with my partner and found a mix of good and bad. Starting with what I enjoyed: pleasant ambience and attentive staff. But then what really bothered me is that we got charged $12.55 for two undersized and quite mediocre coffees. It was particularly ridiculous to have a bunch of extra charges on top of the already expensive coffees. Being charged extra for the shot of coffee in a dirty chai latte seems especially cheeky...
J. H.
The Black Betty was really nice very smooth. Affogatto was very strong, so if you really need a kick in the face to wake up, get that. Also very nice aesthetics inside. I didn't get one, but the sandwiches looked really good.
Y.
Visited for my morning coffee. It was only my two visits, but I want to rate it as a place that produces good enough coffee. I will go here every morning on my way to work. The staff are fully performing the role of professional baristas. My next visit will be for brunch.
A. P.
Food menu wasn't extensive but they're damn good if not fancy. Never thought bacon goes freakin' well with maple syrup, banana, cream cheese, and bagel. Place was cosy, rustic, and full of artistic pleasantries. Coffee wasn't as strong as my usual preference, however it was very smooth and fruity; just another dimension on my palette.
Will definitely drop by again 😸
A. D.
Great bagels and coffee was amazing. The dishes are well thought of and the ingredients go together very well. Would be nice if crispy bacon was offered as that would’ve elevated the dishes.
However, price point is a little high. Not sure if it’s Covid price increments on the ingredients but a little too expensive.
M.
Such a nice cafe! Coffee was good, staff were super nice and nice decor. They also have gorgeous fresh flowers around and I kept getting wafts of the floral arrangement next to me - so lovely. Great little laneway coffee spot
Y. X.
The wonderful atmosphere, the best coffee and the hospitality of the staff.
Amazing!
C. L.
Great cafe! We had a breakfast bagel and a lox and cream cheese bagel. Both were delicious. The chai latte was nice and spicy. My only complaint is that the wait staff are too busy talking and playing on their phones to pay any attention to the patrons. It’s easier to order at the counter than to get service at the table.
S. E.
Coffee was good. Took a while to get served the service felt unfriendly and people working there felt like they didn't want to be there. Interesting bagel menus food was nice. Overall happy with food but with that kind of service also happy not to come back here again.
W. K.
30 minutes wait for bagel with cream cheese.
Had to ask staff once after 15 minutes and again at 25 minutes if the Bagels were coming. Both times the staff member didn't ask the kitchen/other staff if the meal was coming.
Coffee came quickly and was fantastic but let down by slow service of an extremely basic meal.
J. P.
Very friendly and kind staff, awesome people! I had a flat white, ice cream mocha and a salmon bagel. It was incredibly good and delicious!! The cafe itself is down and small cute alley in the heart of the city. Will definitely come back! Recommended!!
A. L.
Bagels were great. The texture was soft yet dense. The toppings are generous and the sides of pretzel and pickle was a welcoming surprise.
The acai was excellent. Tasted spot on and definitely insta worthy.
Service was a hit and miss. One guy basically threw acoffee on the table before walking off and when asked for some forks for the table one of the staff seemed perplexed what a fork was...
M. L.
Nice atmosphere. Fantastic coffee from a barista who clearly liked his job. Breakfast was really good and the flavours worked. Only point I would suggest is to ease off a little on the maple syrup. That much sugar ain't so good! Other than that the bagel was excellent. Recommended.
H. Z.
Coffee here was so good. Great flavour and balance.
Cuban sandwich is a must the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted
Lox bagel classic dish so simple but super satisfying to eat.
Lovely service
B. C.
Unfortunately not a bagel person , atmosphere is good and busy. Cleanliness wasn't great as the maple syrup on the table had not been cleaned off.
Wait wasn't too bad for a Sunday noon. Had the pulled pork and I guess today's batch must've been drier than usual, everyone seems to love it but it was really meh today.
Coffee was decent tho, had their flat white and magic.
The acai pudding was surprisingly good! Great breakfast-y feel in your mouth, very interesting and way more worth your time and sotmach space.
J. L.
This place is a hidden gem!
I am here just for good coffee and they delivered. I had flat white and it was nicely made (see photo), nice decor, spacious seat, people seems to love their brunch menu and the food looks nice, good price.
The only downside is it is very greasy, and would be great if they have outside seats.
L. H.
Not the biggest establishment but just the right size to make it intimate, cozy and comfortable. Super friendly staff and their vegan/vegetarian options are amazing! I would definitely recommend this place as the ideal breakfast/brunch spot if you happen to be in Melbourne.
R. L.
We ordered a Ruben sandwich and almond croissant with coffee. Now their coffee was great and it was pretty good. The Ruben sandwich was really tasty, it was freshly made and you could tell by the taste of it. They also served it with massive pickles. The almond croissant was okay, I don't think they make them and they probably just order them from a pastry shop. The croissant was not crispy and slightly soggy, but almond filling was fine. l have had better ones and hence why I'm critical. Staff were very friendly and cafe has a very chilled vibe so it is great to come down here for a catch up with a friend or a quick breakfast. I definitely recommend this place.
B. J.
The most incredible service and the loveliest staff. Chicken avo sandwich is so delicious, however everyone working (especially the American who's name I unfortunately did not catch) made it the best place to brunch. Thank you
J. C.
I haven’t been hear for years and the decor basically hasn’t changed. The coffee is still great but the bagels have definitely changed. $26+10%on the weekend, for a bagel is overpriced even if it was the best bagel. The smashed avo was tasty (loved the tomato’s) but the sous vide egg was cold, weird and runny, would not recommend. I think id just get coffee next time.
E.
A lovely, lively little breakfast place which focuses on bagels. Great coffee, quick service and a laid back atmosphere. I wish they had infant high chairs but the vibe inside was very casual and no one minded our little one running around a bit.
L. R.
I visited 4 years ago and the food was great and the coffee fantastic. However I revisited today and must say it's improved. The coffee is still one of the best cups I've ever had, but, the food has gone from strength to strength. The smashed avo bagel is full of flavor and so well balanced and is one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Service was super quick and the staff friendly. I'm very glad I returned here, 11/10 would recommend.
H. L.
Go have a adventure in Melbourne's little busy lane, you will always be surprised.
If you are a fruity coffee person, you must try their Raspberry Candy iced latte (I like it with oat milk), it will delight your day. Food was yummy but their is not too many options for those who is not the fan of bagels.
N. R.
Great atmosphere and great coffee! Hands down i’ve had the best bagel at this place! The Acai bowl was very yummy too.
Staff are friendly and very attentive.
M. J.
Hungry? Come here for a decent feed. Ordered the avocado smash and had enough avocado to last me the week. Love this cafe - very Melbourne. Expect a short wait on weekends, but worth it.
M. N.
Loved the food, coffee and low key 'distressed look furniture' look decor. The BEST coffee I've had in a while. Simply perfect. Very interesting combination of dishes made with bagels - who would have thought - bananas and bacon (!). Must come back.
N. S.
Beautiful decor and ambience, great food and coffee as usual. I always find a reason to get a coffee from Manchester Press; very happy to be able to visit again.
J. L.
After hearing Melburnians constantly harping on about the greatness of their coffee, we were left unimpressed by many lacklustre cafes in the CBD area until we were taken to Manchester Press, a cafe with vintage chic vibes tucked in Rankins Lane. The drinks and food offering were impressive to say the least. We're still dreaming of their eye pleasing French Toast and absolutely delicious Rueben sandwich!
Highly recommended if you're in the area!
A. M.
Best bagels I have ever tasted!
Firstly it is important to note that Manchester Press is always busy. Even on a weekday we needed to wait 15 mins before there was a table available.
But the bagels are definitely worth the wait. We ordered the smoked salmon and the chorizo bagels (refer to photos), both were delicious.
They also have really good coffee, would highly recommend.
J.
Went there twice in a row. Different experience for both visits. I would say the ice mocha is so far the best I had in Melbourne. As for the dish, mixed berry is still my favourite.
c. h. n.
Great place for coffee and it’s nicely tucked in an alley. Does tend to get a bit busy though. I love their cold drip and the açaí bowl. Looks pretty and tastes as good too! Didn’t manage to try out their bagels this time because we weren’t too hungry. Will definitely come back again!
Y. W.
I am not a big fan of bagel but I find that this place serves pretty good one. The portion looks small but it fills me up easily. The cafe is cozy and the staff is very friendly.
G. R.
Yummy food and great coffee. Fantastic atmosphere in a tucked away location. Bagels are the speciality with options for rye or gluten free. Big rrange of coffee choice including filtered and cold drip. Savoury bagels make for a great lunch. Staff are attentive and helpful.
K. Y. L.
Amazing coffee and bagels. Such a hidden gem tucked in the laneway in the heart of CBD!
N. M.
This place is to die for! Be prepared to wait, but it's worth it. Woke up the next day still thinking about how good my bagel was ❤️ Amazing coffee too, one of the best I've ever had.
M. M.
Lots of tourists try to find this cafe.
It's a little bit hard to find, cause it's located alley.
This cafe is so cool and Bagle is really delicious.
One of the wonderful and exciting cafe in Melbourne!!
S. C.
Way too overpriced. . $22 for a bagel. Get stuffed. Staff were only slightly helpful - but polite. I asked for feta on my bagel and got it on the side. Asked for no sauerkraut and still got it.
Waited 10 minutes for a take away bagel which in the end was average. Wouldn’t go back again unless someone invited me.
T. F. D.
Sometimes it pays to wander around the smaller streets of Melbourne CBD, especially when you discover a splendid arty café like MP. When the discovery includes good coffee, tasty food and great service, the journey rewards you with an experience you won’t soon forget. The giant wall arts are incredible and adds to the creative atmosphere. Also, watch out for the little birds who seem to enjoy the inside of the café as much as the customers!
J. E.
A gorgeous laneway cafe, filled with a beautiful atmosphere and ambience.
The coffee is strong and delicious; staff attentive and polite.
A strong recommendation for anyone in and around Melbourne's CBD.
A. H.
Great atmosphere. Quick turn around for a table even when busy. The food was really tasty and a good price. The Philly Cheese Steak bagel was fantastic.
f. a.
Awesome coffee! I usually don't drink ice coffee but I don't know why I just tried it I just love it. Their cold press coffee was amazing. And ofcause bagel.
L. O.
I had to use Google maps to get there the first time. It's incredible how you can find such amazing places in Melbourne. The place was great but the food wasn't as good as I expected. I tried a salad but it wasn't a good choice for me. 4 starts for the place and the feeling of being exploring the city while finding them. Also, hoping to go back and give another chance to the menu.
D. P.
Overrated coffee shop. Peculiar coffee taste served with cold attitude. Staff wasn’t very helpful. I liked interior, and the spot but nothing else.
S. (.
Good breakfast spot. Great atmosphere. Nicely fitted out Cafe hidden away in a Melbourne lane way. It's an insta foodies dream.
G. B.
This place is hidden in a little alley. It was probably an old factory, the inside was really pretty! You can find a lot of kinds of bagels ! If you’re adventurous, try the mascarpone-bacon-popcorn one haha it was surprisingly delicious ! This is the perfect place if you wanna have lunch in Melbourne CBD
S. Y.
Love the vibe, staff is friendly. They use Ona coffee. Cold brew was pretty good.
N. E.
Excellent food great gluten free bagle! Coffee was delicious and very cool vibes. Hiden in a side street was a great find. I had a matcha latte and it arrived with a cat on! Only in Melbourne haha
H. M.
Came here 3 times in a week. Great coffee, great vibe, great service. Food was awesome too with a wide selection to suit all tastes. Favourite in Melbourne.
E. H. L.
Super awesome place! It is in the little alley way along Little Bourke street. Look out for the M and the P!
My Friend recommended this coffee place and I had no regrets searching for it! Amazing coffee, great atmosphere and delicious bagels!! Made my day! It’s very reasonably cost too!
G. L.
Good food and coffee. However there is a 10% surcharge on weekends, you can’t alter anything on the menu (I wasn’t allowed to add bacon to my cream cheese bagel), and you can’t split the bill.
S. B.
Probably the best bagel I've ever had! Nice touch serving it with pickles and pretzels too. There was a bit of a wait to get in but it was worth it. Fast, friendly service, great bagel menu and good value for money.
N. T.
The atmosphere is nice, food was good, great coffee and nice friendly staff. A lot of customers so it’s a little noisy inside.
K. v. L.
Really great coffee here, among the best in town. The bagels are what I go for though. The NY lox is soooo flipping great. You should just go and get one, just go. They have vegan options for your vegan friends and did I mention they do really great coffee? They do. It's a really nice space with a great atmosphere. One of Melbourne's best. Get into it and get a bagel.
A. L.
March 2017.
Tucked quietly down Rankins Lane, Manchester Press is a hidden gem that boasts friendly staff paired with vibrant decor.
Little has changed since our first visit in 2016. The coffee and bagel offerings are still some of the best. The texture and taste rival some of the offerings experienced in New York.
Not pictured is an extensive selection of single-origin coffees.
With so many quaint eateries scattered throughout. MP feels a world away from the collection of corporate office towers nearby.
l. c.
Excellent bagels 10/10. Used to think bagels were overrated but after having the pulled pork bagel it was amazing and the mixed berry bagel was excellent too! Nutella hot chocolate was yummy too!
C. S. W.
One of the best cafes in whole Melbourne.
Their reuben is just exceptionally good.
This place is also quite wellknown for their coffee. I tried 3 different kinds and my favourite one was their batch brewed coffee.
I highly recommend this cafe over any others for quick brunch in CBD.
N. C.
Food was delish, though service was a little slow. Would go back to try the lunch bagels though!
H. W.
I had the coconut Chia pudding with passion fruit and it was delicious. The latte was also just what I wanted. Funky venue, friendly staff, excellent prices. All the bagels that I saw looked yummy. Would highly recommend.
L. H.
Food was delicious as was the hot chocolate. The service was a little slow, but they were busy, and it was not unreasonable. The place is located in a very cute little laneway and the decor is cool.
Not my favourite cafe ever, but not a bad spot to visit if you are looking for a change.
J. L.
Bagels here are lovely! Great atmosphere with buzzing vibe. So difficult not to get the NY Lox (smoked salmon one) every time I'm here but finally got the mixed berries one today. Did not disappoint!
K. N. (.
The acai bowl was so much better than I expected! I honestly didn’t expect much from this instagrammy dish but it was packed with yummy granola and fresh fruits not to mention its huge portion. Highly recommend if you’re around the area.
E. C.
Lovely cafe!
I had a acai bowl and flat white. Both were delicious!!
Really friendly and kind staff, awesome people.
Will definitely come back again!
A. R.
Great place for a coffee in the city. We had a Pulled Jackfruit Bagel for breakfast and we were mind blown. We have to give it that they have heaven sent bagels and coffee to match!
G. K.
Nice coffee and pastries. Wanted to try their food but kitchen was closed since I went there at around 3:30pm. Needa go earlier next time!!
K. W.
Very smooth coffee with nice presentation at a very competitive price! The staff are kind and the environment is relaxing. Have not tried the food yet, but it looks very good and I definitely will try the food next time. I fully recommend this place!
C. S.
Love this place. Always a must visit and eat at when in Melbourne. Love their sesame bagels. Tried the Ruben this time and the Russian dressing house made was the best I've tasted. Quick and friendly service and always busy. Highly recommended
M. W.
A classic Melbourne experience. Found through the Urbanlist's top breakfast recommendations. Simply phenomenal food. Copious amounts of avocado with plenty of flavor to top. I also tried the smoked salmon bagel and it did not disappoint either.
C. S.
Delicious coffee prepared with simple elegant art in a professional manner. The space and the food maintains this vibrancy whilst creating a relaxed setting to enjoy time and conversation with friends and family.
E. Y. W.
The entrance is hidden in a small alley. U need to walk in a bit to find it. My friend and I went there for brunch, the food presentation is nice. I ordered the bagel with avocado, seems decent.
M. S.
Good place for a bagel breakie. It gets crowded and there's not a lot of typical breakfast choices (eggs, avo etc..) on the menu, but the bagel creations are pretty good. Coffee is amazing.
L. d. V.
My favourite place in Melbourne, best coffee and latte art.🤎
S. H.
Amazing breakfast and great vibes...had smashed avocado with egg and it was good
D. Z.
We had a very relaxing brunch there, the strawberry bagel was quite creamy and love the interior.
E. P.
Lots of bagel varieties, both traditional and very modern. Great atmosphere and nice coffee. Thought that the bagel was a little dry though and didn't finish it. Other than that can't fault it for a thing !
L. D.
Good service and a cute location, a good place to bring visitors for the "Melbourne Experience". Several veggie options (sadly no groundbreaking choices). I got the cream cheese open bagel with pumpkin mash, but it needed a fair bit of salt but tasty. The side of pretzels and pickles was unexpected but enjoyed.
D. T.
Cozy and welcome place, super friendly staff. One of the best coffee in Melbourne. A hidden gem in the heart of CBD.
B. H.
Please don't tell anyone about this gem :P
Bagel was amazing (I had the smoke salmon) it was cheap and tasted very fresh!
I had a coffee earlier so opted for the iced chocolate and damn it was 10/10. Partner had the Ruben bagel and she thoroughly enjoyed it!
Y. K.
It was very lively but cozy. Love the vibes and the coffee was worthy. The first sip was sour but with full of crema. Food was bit pricy I suppose, but really tasty!
A. N.
Good coffee but when you pay $4 for soft boiled eggs they shouldn't be overcooked. Flavours were ok but nothing impressive, bagels themselves were good.
A. S.
Great little cafe, with excellent coffee. The bagels are the real attraction here, though. Delicious. One of Melbourne's laneway treasures.
T. L.
One of my favourite breakfast places in Melbourne. Always has been. Had thee Acai bowl this morning. It was delish! Coffee was yummy too.
E. B.
Hidden down the laneway is a top brunch venue with delicious open bagels that will fill you for the day. It's not often I can't finish a dish but the avo with chorizo bagel, stumped me. It was packed at 10am on Thursday morning, so that says something. Would definitely recommend and go there again.
T. L.
Great breakfast and coffee spot, usually busy but we'll run with no long waits. Great food and friendly staff.
L. M.
I came here last weekend with my family, we were a big group of 7 and we were given a nice big table with plenty of space. Everyone was able to find something on the menu that they liked, and the food was great. The interior is beautiful and the service was excellent, our waiter (Will) was awesome and we were served quickly. We will definitely be back, thankyou for a great meal!
T. I.
What a great cafe, brilliant location in a cool alleyway, fantastic decor and the food, coffee and service were wonderful.
A. K.
Got here bright and early one morning - no line. Had a blueberry bagel with marscyepone cheese and jam. Was a bit blasphemous to me because that's not how you eat a bagel (I'm from the East Coast of the US, within stones throw of NYC, so I know how to eat a bagel). Plus...the bagels were a little flat. Not quite there yet with an authentic bagel. Close, but not quite. Still good, but not really living up to everyone else's hype for me.
M. M.
Good, but I think it was oversold to me. Solid bagels and good coffee, but also pretty loud. I'm going with 4 because I think I could have enjoyed it more under different circumstances - I was pretty tired and not very hungry.
M. E.
Ordered a chai latte and a "cookies and cream" cookie. Cookie was amazing: fresh and very sweet. Latte was nice but not as strong as I had hoped (quite milky). The staff were so friendly and accommodating though and the vibe was really nice. Great music too! Would definitely come back again and will try some food next time because what everyone else was ordering looked really nicely presented.
R. “. s.
Hidden gem.
Great coffee. Great place for breakfast.
S. A. G. C.
Wait was shorter than expected. Good service and ambiance. Good coffee. Surprise %10 surcharge leaves a bitter taste. @sergio_snaps for more.
f. a.
The food was delicious and healthy, the bagels were amazing. The staff were very helpful. But the restaurant was very hard to find because it was in a alley.
R. T.
Hidden gem in a laneway serving amazing coffee! Loved the atmosphere, design, service - well done! Will be definitely back to try the food!
d. o.
My wife and I both enjoyed our food and I had a good magic coffee. We enjoyed the way they did the bagels. Also, it’s a cool vibe inside and on a very fun alley to walk down.
J. C.
Was there on a Monday afternoon, it was quite packed. Bagels were decent, not stingy with the salmon (reco the salmon bagel!!!!)
M. “. O.
There were awesome and sick meals!.
The two of us went around there at midday on a Saturday.
We Waited a little bit, but the food was so tasty and big.
We felt Satisfied and the price is reasonable.
We ordered 2 meals and 2 cups of coffee. It came to cost 50$ aud i'm sure I'll go here again.
E. A.
Nice place down a little lane. The ambience was cosy and the staff were very nice. I had the salmon bagel that was delicious and thought they were very generous with the portion. Will go back to try the other items on the menu
L. C.
Love the food and coffee here. We came at about 2.30pm and avoided the crowd.
S. W.
Great place for loaded bagels and single origin coffee.
C. P.
Hidden down a laneway, this cafe has Great! Coffee and delicious bagels.
S. M.
Enjoyed a tasty Reuben that was perfectly toasted but a little too salty, nice location, staff, and menu! Not the best bang for buck, about what you’d expect from a $$ spot.
M. J.
Happily surprised by this place! Went to try their coffee, which was above my expectations (one of the best Latte + Almond milk Latte I tried around) and been delighted by the friendly service. The place itself is also great!
h. L.

Amazing coffee and amazing food.
Go here! Now!
N. K.
Very good food and great eating environment.
C. Y. (.
Excellent avo mash bagel and food coffee!
Y. J. F.
I've been to here many times, the food was good, and coffee is much much better than before that I ever had.
M. R.
Great coffee, good service but don’t go here for a regular breakfast!..
There are no normal eggs! Just add regular scrambled, poached and fried eggs to the menu and you’ve got a 5 star.
P. H.
Coffee is excellent and couldn’t be faulted. The food is also awesome BUT probably priced a bit high.
M. A.
Great hidden cafe. Excellent coffee and atmosphere. Ordered their chicken & avo sandwich, was below average to be honest.
L. L.
Delicious bagels, they're loaded with toppings and super filling!!
J. F.
Good staff, nice coffee and stuff. Bagel is a bit pricey but definitely worth it. Well done
J.
Bagels great... Tick....coffee great...tick, service was good, it can get quite busy and they have a few communal tables but it all works fine doesn't feel like your on top of each other
D.
Nice place! Sweet bagel was nice but a bit too sweet for me. But that’s maybe just me. The atmosphere was great.
K. N.
I loved my Middle Eastern Style bagel! Great environment and nice staff.
M. E.
You know it's a good place when it's hidden away down an alley.
Coffee was great!
Ordered a mixed Berry bagel, was enough to split 50/50 with my wife and also came out quite quickly given how busy it was.
Also lots of seating inside. Would recommend.
G.
Great coffee. Shroom bagel was ok. Nice place overall
P. L.
"A long black, but instead of hot water.." "You'd like ice?" 😍 A wander down the lane was worth it. Coffee 5. Service 5. Food 4. Environment 4.
N. C.
The staff and service were great. Cute little cafe. My chai latte was a little weak/too heavy on the soy, but the food was amazing. My best friend and I couldn't decide between two dishes so we halved them between us. Best decision. The portion sizes were very generous and the flavour was heavenly. Best cafe breakfast I've had in a while.
A. H.
Tasty bagels and some nice coffee. Great for a lunch and chat with friends. Staff were friendly and helpful.
R. B.
Great coffee and good bagels.
Little wait <30 min and good friendly service
M. S.
Had a nice breakfast with a nice coffee. The atmosphere is also good, like not noisy but not so quiet.
C. D.
Very good coffee, nice bagels. Staff just attentive enough. Would definitely go again when in the city.
N. C.
Ordered an open bagel. The amount of smoke salmon provided was generous! Thumbs up!
A. F.
The place for bagels. Huge servings. Great casual vibe.
G. B.
Impersonal service. Money hungry. $23 bagel. Tried to avoid cashing off my order so that they didn’t need to declare it (I insisted on a receipt so that they had to cash it off). Plus unadvertised 15% surcharge due to today being a public holiday.
Left with a bad taste in my mouth.
E. J.
Great coffee, amazing breakfast and bagels, definitely recommend!
J. S.
Really cool cafe. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Great coffee and desserts.
林.
I ordered SHROOM angle today, and the taste is amazing. Though this course is made for vegan, but it is delicious for non-vegans ! I really enjoyed the meal here.
L.
I heard that this is very famous for Latte. But i can’t admit it after having a latte and flat white. And also they have the waiting list always.
M. F.
I’ve been to this cafe twice. It’s a calm and nice cafe, so I could relax and enjoy talking with my friend. The location is close to Melbourne Central, so I can go there easily. The staff were so kind. There’re many kinds of bagels. I’ve eaten a maple bacon bagel and a carrot cake. They were tasty and good value. I’d like to try others next time!
F.
Firstly, the food is great. So flavoursome and good quality ingredients. My gripe today was with the staff not really paying attention and having to flag down a staff member after about 10 minutes of no one approaching us and standing around chatting. One staff member even met eyes with me, I waved to her in a friendly manner to get her attention, only to be ignored and returned to her jovial conversation. The coffee was also pretty bland.
G. L.
Not bad, but come early so you dont need to wait.. i came around 2pm its very full and wait about 30 min
M. P.
Super good food and drink choices. Love the options and varieties and service is Super good too.
B. J.
Interesting rainbow bagel . Good cafe for brunch.
Rueben bagel must try......
E. C.
Tried this coffee shop for the first time today and it was excellent! By far the best coffee I've ever had. Worth every penny. Great attention to detail is paid on every cup. I didn’t eat so can’t comment on the food but it sure looked delicious too! Everything in this place is just perfection. I like this cafe very much and will recommend this place.
M. P.
Slightly pricy but the food is good
Y. L.
Best bagels ever. Tried salmon one and a beef one. Both are amazing.
A. N.
A bit over hyped - ambience felt cramped food was quite basic. Orange juice and coffee were good
P.
Bagel, smashed avocado and egg.
Absolutely perfect!
Friendly service, not overly expensive but really good food and a good portion size as well.
Coffee was really nice. Would thoroughly recommend!
N.
Busy cafe down a busy street. Once you're in and seated though the pace slows down. Decent sized meals and nice coffee.
G. W.
But if a wait but worth it for large portions and great coffee
H. C.
Delicious coffee and bagels. Love the vibe of the cafe and in Rankins Lane area.
N. F.
Big fan! Best cold brew I’ve ever had. Bagels are a big size and toppings are generous. Price worth the quality and size. Waiting time was less than 10mins for 3 of us. Favourite cafe in Melbourne!
A. S.
Overall food and coffee were great. Although when we requested a bagel to be cut in half to be shared, the waiter basically told us we had knifes available to cut it on our own. It was a little rude, and I dont think it was an unusual request. The 10% surcharge on weekends was also a little surprising.
P. C. K.
Awesome cafe with unpretentious atmosphere and friendly staff. The majority of dishes are served in a bagel either open or closed style. If you're not keen on a bagel then your options may be limited. I had the Reuben bagel which was great and had a very generous serving of pastrami. Great place for an inner city breakfast.
H. N. P.
Excellent coffee, excellent bagels!
An artistic, mellow urban space, especially when it's not too crowded. A few years ago you don't really have to line up to get inside. But the number of visitors soared because of numerous good reviews. I came back recently and I was surprised that they haven't lost their taste despite of a large amount of customers . The food and the coffee are still amazing as before!
Definitely worth to pay a visit and try their smoked salmon bagel. Yum!
T. W.
Great filtered coffee and bagels, nothing to be fault at all
B. F.
Coffee was absolutely divine! The staff were very kind to explain the differences to me and make personal suggestions. I tried to vegan bagel and it was far better than I expected, would hardly know it was vegan!
K. P.
Their pulled pork bagel is a must order item on menu. Soft and tender pork!
N. J.
Perfect spot for brunch, a bit of wait but worth it!
A. W.
Bloody brilliant Bagels! Attentive and friendly staff. Tasty chocolate milkshake.
A. M.
Excellent bagel breakfasts and coffee make this a location well worth your Saturday morning spend.
E.
Lovely cozy place. They're known for their super fresh bagel combos and I keep going back!
D. D.
Great bagels! And coffee is good, but not if you're a soy drinker - they use cheap off-brand soy milk that doesn't go with the coffee at all. But it doesn't stop me coming all the time, I just grab an amazing bagel here, then head to the Cafe on the corner for a great bonsoy coffee!
B. Y.
Very busy business!!! The bagel is nice especially smoky salmon
S. t. B.
Excellent food, cheap, nice staff and interesting menu. Great CBD location, nice space but often very busy.
李.
Cool place with yummy food and coffee, must a try when in Melbourne
L. H.
Sweet, smooth cold brew is beautiful for a hot windy day! I didn't get food. Atmosphere is energetic with fun music and people chatting and laughing. I like the high roof and it is wonderfully air conditioned. I'll come back.
A. X.
Really cute store, the alleyway looked pretty plain so I actually walked right past the first time but once you go inside the store it's filled with people.
S. A.
Good Coffee and definitely a great place fpr Bagels..Loved the overall vibe of the cafe, but its easy to miss since its in an alleyway
M. A.
Ambient, Food and Coffee ☕️ all Good
Hidden in a Lane way
R. K.
Bagelicious! So many to choose from, not enough stomach space. Guess I’ll just have to come back for more 😋
S. M.
A hidden gem in Melbourne!! The coffee is nice and the avocado bagel is toasted to perfection with generous amount of avocado!
J. T.
Great food and very nice atmosphere - not too loud or too quiet. Ideal for a casual catch-up. As far as breakfast/brunch places go, it wasn't too much of a money sink either. Their Nutella hot chocolate is wonderful.
Their service was slightly lacking; a little slow but still very polite and friendly. Overall, will be coming back
J.
First off...do not make mistake of waiting to be seated at the "wait here to be seated" sign you will be completely ignored. Staff are rude. Food and coffee is good but not amazing. Overhyped, overpriced and pretentious. Won't return. Many other places in Melb where you can get better bagels and sandwiches for much better price.
O. R.
My rating is on the coffee and the experience, not the food (unfortunately, I did not try it). The coffee here is very impressive. It is drinkable when served and has a bold flavour (surprisingly, I have found this is unique amongst the best brewers in Melbourne). The alley is cool (the more hidden, the better), the shop is large and the space is relaxing (so it is good a coffee and laptop session before a meeting) and staff are friendly. Will go again.
Go here if you love coffee AND you need to wake up.
林.
A nice cafe. The staffs are friendly and the smoked salmon open bagel was awesome!
C. T.
My god they give you so much food! Such great service here, amazing coffee and chill times. Quick turnaround here so the wait for a table isnt usually more than 20 mins. Recommend for breakfast, brunch or just a quick coffee. If going with a friend I would recommend getting two bagels to share, one sweet and one savory so you get a good variety. Prices are reasonable but wont send you broke, defo worth a visit and insta sesh.
UPDATE: price increase and change of suppliers mean no gluten free bagels or bread.
A. S.
Great vibe and excellent service. One of the best places to grab a coffee.
L. T.
Very snazzy place. A quiet and pleasant atmosphere. Serves the usual cafe drinks and great bagels.
D. C.
Food was very nice . Not to crowded inside . But prepare to wait /or line up on busy days
K. E.
The atmosphere is pretty chill and the staff are friendly. The bagels are good, but you can get good from a Starbucks bagel. I think their approach to toppings and presentation is wonderful and probably what keeps people coming. Coffee is decent, too.
W. N.
Good cafe for lunch or a snack and well known for their bagels. I enjoy their smoked salmon bagel with a coffee.
I. M.
They gave me the wrong coffee, which I had double checked before drinking. I wish they would care more about costumers.
The food is good but the pickle is too salty. None of my friends could eat those.
The place is nice though.
J. B.
One of my favourite places in Melbourne CBD, so glad they brought back the Mixed Berry bagel (it was dropped from their menu once - please never remove it again, this bagel is the sole reason I dine here)
K. A.
Bagels are good, as well as their coffee
A. M.
Hidden gem in the CBD! Popped in here to escape the busy streets, awesome coffee with a variety of choices and great menu. Chilled out atmosphere. All the staff were lovely and Saxon in particular went above and beyond. Keep it up guys :)
K. R.
Good coffee, delicious cold brew, and who doesn't love a good bagel?! Tasty and trendy Melbourne spot. Can sometimes have a wait, but never too long.
J.
If you love coffee, bagels this is the place to go. The staff is really helpful, and they really know their stuff. I recommend this place! It's not cheap, but you'll get the best coffee in Melbourne here.
J. B.
Came here with a few friends. Our bagels with delicious and very filling. The coffee was really good too, though I did order a coffee to go after breakfast and they made the wrong coffee. I feel the waiter was only half listening.
A. A.
Favourite coffee place in the city. The staff are so welcoming and wonderful. Always greeted with a smile, always up for a chat. Their coffee is some of the best, and they have a range of different milk alternatives. Their bagels are also to die for! If you are looking for a smash avo breakie, look no further!! This is the place to be.
J. W.
Love the ambience and the philly cheese steak bagel ❤
C. J.
I always come back here when I'm in Melbourne. Their coffee is nice and their selection of sweet and savoury bagels are delicious. Even though it's tucked down an alleyway, the space feels quite roomy with the high ceilings.
B. S.
It is a very nice coffee place located in on eof the laneways. The room is not very big so it can get packed during peak hours. They have a whole menu just for coffee. We got bolognese sandwitch with pickles, flat white and orange juice. The sandwitch was ok but needed more seasoning. Coffee was very nice though. Service was friendly and we didn't have to wait long. Nice place, I would recommend it for a quick bite and a coffee.
A. L.
Amazing Bagels here...I'd like to try the rainbow Bagel next time
H. C.
Excellent quality of coffee and tea. Food was great, and the quantity of toppings on the bagel (mostly avocado) was generous. Good vibes and atmosphere - would recommend.
B. D.
Great atmosphere, coffee and food!
T. Z.
Great coffee and excellent bagels. I highly recommend the smashed avocado with feta on a sesame bagel! The cake selection is really good too. It's one of those cool hidden melbourne cafés that is prefect for a group, just the two of you or a solo breakfast or coffee when you just want to read the newspaper. Expect a wait to get in on the weekends!
n.
Perfect coffee and bagel type breakfast and lunche menue.
S. R.
Great food after the long wait due to 6 of us waiting. I loved the acai bowl and presentation of everything was amazing. One of our coffee's had a swan but my coffee lacked temperature a bit. Overall great experience and worth the long wait.
E. C.
Awesome bagels. Great brunch spot.
A. L.
Wonderful place to go if you have the opportunity to. My hot chocolate was actually hot and the service was fast. My partner and I both got different types of avo bagels and they were absolutely infallible. The chorizo they use is a wonderful flavour and you will leave very full even without eating eggs. It might be hard to find a table for bigger groups but it is a hidden gem
J. S.
Service here was 'ok' i guess, but I'm a little baffled as to why they sell croissants but cannot offer any toppings/fillings for them? They're a cafe!! I asked for one to be toasted (which they did) and while I understand they don't offer toasted ham/cheese croissants as part of their menu, they should at the very least offer some butter and/or jam!!! So I was left choking on a dry toasted croissant in which I would have otherwise really enjoyed.
K. K.
Incredibly impressed by their Bagel. We got the bagel with bacon and banna and it was all kinds of fun in our mouths. Our palates had the most fun enjoying multitude of flavour from sweet to savoury. The icing was their staff -- and all around great experience.
E. A.
Lovely, cosy little cafe down and very ‘Melbourne’ down a city alleyway. The bagel servings are generous, but there is very limited choice if you’re looking for a savoury bagel. The cafe is also a great spot to stop off for a mid-morning coffee.
J.
Nice cafe. friendly personal. Coffee was of good quality. Nice atmosphere. Quick service. Enough space and not to noisy compared to other places. I would definitely recommend others to go here.
J. W.
I loveeee this place!! This place is sorta hidden in the small alley. It looks like they renovated parking garage and made into a restaurant. Inside is very spacious and lots of light. It's a perfect place to chill on the weekend to get a brunch. Not only this place is very hip but also their food tasted amazing! I loved their bagel dish and acai bowl. Acai bowl was definitely insta worthy (very pretty) and tastes super healthy. I liked their bagel dish it was very flavorful I kept eating even though it wasn't my food..... lol I think coffee was alright though.
J. K. L.
I visited 2days ago for my brunch with my friend. Staffs are friendly and nice coffee was good as well, however, bagels that we order was not special or yummy.. those are from breakfast menu and I should have chosen either from closed bagel or just basic bagels and preserves.
S. K.
My wife and I came here for some breakfast. Had some mochas and bagels which were delicious and didn't take long to arrive. The place was very busy but we were lucky enough to walk in without waiting. Would definitely come back to try some different bagel meals as they all look really good!
G. K. S.
I absolutely loved this place ! Come here every time I come down to Melbourne, they seriously make the best bagels EVER. The atmosphere and vibe is fantastic , very relaxing and yet upbeat at the same time - there usually really popular too! Would definitely recommend if your new to Melbourne or your just looking to try a new place with great food and coffee!
C. N.
Love their bagels and coffee! Friendly staff and great atmosphere and interiors! Highly recommend!
L. C.
Coffees are nice, would love to try their brunches next time.
D. H.
Difficult to find but worth the look. They have nailed the breif in great coffee and tasty cool food. I had the bagel with bacon, maple syrup banana and popcorn. The staff were helpful and friendly and the prices were smart so they added to round numbers.
R. M.
Loved the cafe! Bright, colourful, laid back, great music, lots of seating area. I had their hot chocolate which was luscious with just the right amount of sugar. It went well with my banana and maple cake which was delicious even if a bit crumbly.
N. H.
I agree with reviews about service being very cold. I asked if they can cut the bagel in half and was told, they will provide knife! Ordered a dirty chai which took forever to arrive, after our food was finished and at the end it was actually just Chai.
M. W.
Amazing food, coffee and staff. Highly recommend ! They all make an effort to get to know their customers and are just lovely. They have their staples and also new temporary items each week that never disappoint.
I. L.
One of the typical Melbourne alleyway cafe. Warehouse style open plan decor, welcome ambience. Table service, attentive. Well presented dish but somehow not too much wow for me. Still enjoyable
A. W.
Whichever of the impressive range of beans you choose from, they'll make them up into a perfect coffee, every time. The kitchen offers a great range of yummy platefulls, too. There's plenty of seating, step-free access although no accessible toilet. Really relaxed atmosphere with nice, unobtrusive music. A true hidden gem in the CBD
J. M.
On a wet Melbourne, Tuesday morning, Manchester press made the day! The quality and quantity both accent each other. Beautifully presented, excellent sized meals and the coffee hit that spot! Hands down recommend this place for “any time” breakfast.
A. Y.
4 stars for food & coffee but 2 stars for staff.
Nice place with un-chilling music.
H.
Very busy little cafe. We had to wait for a table. I had a plain bagel with cream cheese and a matcha latte. Both were lovely. The latte art was amazing. The bagel could have been toasted a little less.
K. T.
A nice and relaxed cafe with good bagels (not quite on par with American ones but decent bagels for Melbourne) and is constantly busy with a steady stream of people going in and out. Prices are reasonable for brunch and the location is very easily accessible from Melbourne Central/CBD areas! Would definitely recommend for a quick brunch out with friends.
A. V. d. V.
Don’t get me wrong the food and coffee are great but the staff need to be more aware of customer needs.
My friend ordered a gluten free bagel and when it came around I had a suspicion that they hadn’t gotten it quite right.
I totally get that this happens once in a while and would normally not complain.
However when I asked the waiter whether it was the gluten free meal she had asked for his answer was:
Yeah sure?...
It did not inspire confidence and I had to ask him twice to double check.
Turns out it was wrong and he had to go get a new meal made for her.
People have food allergies, intolerances and sensitivities, never say something adheres to their needs unless you are sure!
J. P.
Incredible ruben bagel. Good cold brew. Been here twice and both times had serous food envy of the delicious looking food coming out of the kitchen. Place has a nice feel to it too.
R. S.
Good coffee, good service, good location
J. L.
Yummy bagels and great coffee!
a. w.
We sat on communal table which was fine until a strange stench wafted our way.. it was a toilet smell, like actually toilet. We were sitting near the toilets so maybe someone had just dropped a fatty. I went to investigate and was overcome by the strength of the smell. We had to leave quickly because it was unbearable.
阿.
The service is nice, coffee tastes good!
I ordered a smoked salmon bagel, I thought there will be some salad or vegetable on the side.....but only some pretzel. So the whole dish tasted a little too salty.
N. C.
Love the venue. Tasty bagels. I had the salmon one and although it was good wish I had had a sweeter one. Did pick up a salted caramel like pastry thing (no idea what it was actually called) on the way out which hit my sweet tooth.
M. K.
such a peaceful place. coffee was to acidic though
호. 여. 옥.
Nice interior and great mood. You should be here if you want to drink awesome coffee.
M. C.
Brunch here is fantastic. Bacon banana and maple is to die for. If your not into bagels they also do a lovely warm tuna salad. Very good coffee also.
M. M.
Great atmosphere in a super cool warehouse space. We had to wait for a table which must be normal as there is a clipboard outside the door for you to write your name and number of seats required. Good coffee and delicious bagels.
C. J.
Lovely coffee and the salmon bagel is fantastic. They don't skimp on the salmon or the service. Always friendly even when busy and it usually is - brilliant vibe and tucked away location make this a must visit
D. K.
Great Bagels with lots of flavours to choose from. We tried the Smoked Salmon, Ruben and Berry ones. The berry one is very rich with a ton of marscapone, more like a dessert, the Smoked Salmon was nice (make sure to ask for plain cream cheese rather than the dill one if you don't like dill) and the Ruben was pretty much exactly like a Ruben, just messier because of the hole in the middle.
M. M.
Fresh bagels and lots to offer on their menu! Coffee was great too!
s. j. L.
It is properly bustling and the dishes I ate was good (salad and one of breakfast menu).
S. F.
Made to wait outside when tables were free. Had no lactose free milk for coffee. Waitress was rude and abrupt when questions were asked about food. A smile is not hard. Plus side breakfast was delish.
M. L.
Very good service, food and coffee. Good range of different coffees. I love the unique breakfasts. My sister said that the ice cream in her iced latte was incredible.
A. B.
Always delicious. You literally can't choose anything wrong, and bagels come with free pickles, the way every good bagel should :) Some of the staff could be friendlier. Nice space for groups towards the back.
D. (.
Great breakfast and great service. Unpretentious and reasonable value. I had the Bacon, banana and maple bagel and the Affogato coffee (two shots of espresso over ice cream), I am not sure if it was coffee flavoured ice cream or ice cream flavoured coffee but it was great Nice staff!
T. F.
One of the best coffees I've found in Melbourne. Need to go for food next time!
B. E.
One of my favourite Melbourne CBD cafes. Great food and coffee, friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere.
Has a great reputation in this city and is well deserved.
Always want to visit during my lunch break.
P. G.
Always great coffee and yummy bagels
P. F.
Great coffee, great food, great for an early breakfast meeting.
It’s always busy so you may need to wait a little, but the wait is worth it. One quirk is that sometimes they’ll ask you to wait outside for your takeaway coffee
N. C.
This busy little place has some interesting combinations on the bagels, but the food tastes amazing! Despite there being quite a number of people wishing to eat in, the staff were insistent that customers only sit at tables with menus on them so ended up sharing a table with strangers which was fine, but not everyone would be comfortable with this!
D. C.
My partner and I both had the NY Knox and loved it. However, despite ordering the same dish, we found many inconsistencies in our orders. He had a couple of jalapeños but I didn’t; I had plenty of pickled carrots but he didn’t. Otherwise, portions were generous and staff were friendly.
Also, toilets were dirty and broken.
L. P.
Delicious food and coffee in a welcoming communal atmosphere.
D. C.
Only managed to grab coffee because I went at 4:20pm (although they close at 5pm) and I was not allowed to have coffee in the shop & was made to takeaways, so do take note. Was a little disappointed tbh. I get that they want to start closing the shop, but they had to turn away so many customers and it made me feel like they weren’t really sincere in serving their customers. Coffee was great tho!
J. N.
Great! I've been twice, had the salmon and the pulled pork bagels. My friend had the blue cheese one, it had a strong smell but it tasted nice. Nicely decorated, super busy on weekends though.
D. M.
good coffee, nice cake. In order to give it 5 stars I'll need to go back and try the food.
But the music was great, a mix of 70s, 80s, and 90s rock. Fantastic!
Decent atmosphere too!
G. L.
A place to chill for some coffee and chats
A. W.
Absolutely love the bagels here - an entire menu of crazy bagel experiences (YES PLEASE!). Also loved the coffee - I mean when your barista is wearing a cycling fixie style cap, it’s gonna be good!
B. S.
A short trip to Melbourne with a breakfast stop at Manchester Press was indeed a good decision. Crowded cafe, but the waiting time was not too long. Located in lane where the cafe opens up with an awesome interior, the menu was different to what I have tried good food especially the filter coffee was great.
E. M.
One of my favourite breakfast and lunch spots in Melbourne. Their specialty is bagels of all kinds. Cool spot in a little laneway, great atmosphere, efficient and friendly service. The bagels variations are to die for. Very generous portions. Love the place. My go to place when in Melbourne.
B. P.
Great coffee but the food used to be better.
A. F.
Great find tucked away down its own little lane. It was really busy when we visited, we were lucky to get a table. Friendly staff and good atmosphere, clearly popular. Can recommend the muesli and smashed avo bagel. Only wish they served bacon as a side!
L. L.
I usually order Smoke Salmon Bagel, which is so amazing. Their coffee is also no need to say - fantastic! However, I somehow feel that they are not as good as before (maybe it's just because I am so used to it?)
J. D.
Still one of the best places for coffee, food is limited to mostly bagels, but if you're a bagel lover, this place won't disappoint at well, do expect a long line during peak hours.
W. K. C.
Good bagels served here. Nice Deco too
K. W.
Just came for coffee. Had the S.O espresso and my friend had the filter. Both fantastically brewed. Good vibe and friendly staff! Great to hang out with friends for a chat or to sit quietly to study or work.
A. H.
Iced coffee was dissappointingly small, which is savage for the hefty price paid at a trendy cafe. Off to a bad start.
Reuben Rachel bagel was kinda dank but not mind blowing. Definitely does not redeem the atrocity that was the iced coffee.
3.5 stars overall. Decent but pretty okay. There's better places to eat in Melbourne.
S. A.
Great place for eating breakfast 👌🏻. The coffee there taste Good. You may want to bool a table in advance because it’s usually crowded during brunch/lunch time.
(I went there long time ago)
S. M.
Coffee was excellent, best I have had in Melbourne. I find a lot of the coffee in Melbourne is too smooth, I like some bitterness to it.
The bagels are tasty and great value for money.
J. B.
Delicious bagels (5 stars). Excellent coffee. Ok service - staff are polite but not as efficient/fast/savvy as other popular cafes in the cbd
J. C.
This cafe is a treasure, tucked away and a great atmosphere. The BEST coffee I have had in a looooooong time! And the bagels...mmm my mouth waters. One of my favourite places to visit when in Melbourne :)
H. O. A. (.
Serving some good bagels with a rustic decor, Manchester Press has seemed to become one of the visiting destinations in Melbourne city. This cafe is always crowded with people, so do expect to wait for a bit before getting a table. Manchester Press is also widely known for its coffee. I would recommend a go at the coffee here. Enjoy!
K. M.
There were lots of customers in the shop. I could not eat anything. So we must try again.
L. Y. N.
Decent menu, good coffee range. Good is delicious and simple, nice hidden spot in melbourne. A little pricey, but that's with all brunch places these days
V. G.
Great place for brunch. The vibe in here is chill and easy. I had the avocado smash bagle. I like everything about it except the 2 pickes. That combination feels odd.
E. K.
This place is very nice and just what you'd expect from a Melbourne bagel place. Very rough and ready on the inside and if you're not there first thing you'll have a wait. I'll definitely be back.
J. F.
Ultra hip little spot with great breakfast bagels. Incredible coffee. Be prepared to chill in the alley way before entering as this place gets busy! They have a waiting list at the door.
D. T.
Highly recommend the tuna bagel! It was absolutely delicious🤤
E. B.
Lacks the efficiency of 'the greats' so there's Long wait times before and after seating. Meals are inventive but and nice flavours. Music is pretty loud. Anywhere else in Australia it would be a 4 stars for sure but being central melbourne the bar is pretty high.
h. l.
next time I'll try breakfast
i went to here 3 times till cloes
easy to change trade time?!
finally~~cheers
I. T. G. D.
Expensive for what it is. Bagels over $20
M. E.
Hidden down a quiet little side street this cafe is definetly worth a look. The staff were friendly and the venue was very neat and tidy. I don't drink coffe but the friend I went with is.something of an expert and seemed to enjoy it so that's got to say something.
C. E.
Nice cafe and decent coffee, but service was kind of bog standard and made it feel a little bit run of the mill. Given that there were at least 6 staff and not even 10 customers at the time, i felt that they could have gone the extra mile. Still good, you know, just not awesome.
M.
The best coffee in the CBD. Highly recommend the batch brew ($4).
However, the food is subpar. Standard bagels that are not bad but not great either.
M. A.
Always busy but nice food and coffee. Good service.
F. M.
Manchester Press is found in typical Melbourne CBD style, via an unsuspecting alleyway. A 'M>P' sign signifies the somewhat hidden entrance. Arriving at 12:30PM on a weekday will ensure you being seated straight away. Many of the tables are share tables, so be prepared to share.
The food is primarily bagels, open (sliced in two and served as slices) or closed (hamburger style), with the Price for a bagel dish being around $15.
Good music and ambiance, without being overbearing and loud.
Wait times for food are around 10-15 minutes, so not ideal for a quick lunchtime feed.
M. N.
My colleague and I grabbed a takeout latte and flat white. Really disappointing coffees. We couldn't finish them. The venue is really cool and staff are friendly.
K. T.
Their bagels (both sweet and savory) are the best I've ever had. Decoration is unique. Amazing coffee art. Favourite cafe in Melbourne so far.
N. R.
Had the pulled pork bagel amd cappuccino, was delicious and quite filling. Good atmosphere and quick service. Good to grab a bite if you can get in as this place is quite busy.
S. S.
Awesome well hidden place with serious hipster tones, and bagels that reinvent the bagel! Great value and all round kick ass place. Exactly what makes Melbourne the #1 world's most live-able city!
I. M.
Excellent cold brew coffee and tasty bagels. The highlight was the chia coconut and granola breakfast. Good service and decent price. Cool space.
J. s.
Every business meeting I've had here has been successful. There's something in the coffee
J. C.
Very interesting cafe location in a dodgy looking lane but produces really nice and tasty pulled pork bagel. Besides the nice touches in latte art, the coffee actually has a good kick in it too.
J. B.
Unbelievably good bagels (they do gluten free, too!), delicious coffee and great vibe. One of Melbourne's great hidden gems - highly recommended.
P. C.
Quite busy in afternoon.
mocha with smooth taste
A. M.
Best bagels I have had in a long time. Great service as well. Gets busy quickly so get there early if you want to avoid the rush.
R. F.
Excellent selection of bagels!
i. c.
Great coffee and nice vibe. Really nice young staff. Relaxed decor.
C. R.
Used to be one of my go-to cafes, but now it seems excessively tourist-targeted. Service was good. Coffee was nothing special. But the real downer was paying $4 for an espresso!
A. F.
Love waking up and walking down to this place for a chill breakfast. Don't love the hoards of instagraming tourists on the weekends. We had 2 people taking pics of us while eating...felt like zoo animals. It's sad, but I don't recommend going on weekends.
B. B.
Friendly staffs, good coffee. Food was not as good as I was expected. I have the smashed Avo with egg. A bit tasteless, need to add salts and pepper to taste
K. P.
Delicious bagels and coffee. Great spot to bring mates visiting Melbourne. Wish there was a slightly greater selection of vegetarian savory options.
L. L.
Excellent coffee! But need to share table and people can be annoying.
T. V.
Excellent bagels, awesome atmosphere and delicious coffee! More than worth the price. Not too busy Sunday arvo.
D. F.
Good coffee, nice acai bowl and friendly service. Nothing mind blowing and definitely
Not Melbourne’s best cafe.
But a cute little place to try out.

Ordered the pulled pork bagel and berry bagel. The fairer half loved hers but I thought mine was better. Coffee was pretty decent too.

No eggs on the menu. avocado fetta mash bagel is cool. Unreasinable delay in the order. Coffee is great. Good vegetarian and vegan choices.

Delicious bagel and coffee 😀

Excellent coffee delivered promptly at the perfect drinking temperature. With stunning latté art to-boot, The Manchester Press presents quality of taste and aesthetics to please all.

Great coffee and breakfast, they were very generous with the portion of meat for pickled pork! The staff were friendly and service was good too.

One of the best cafes in Melbourne! Hipster vibes and incredible coffee, paid with delicious brekky and lunch bites. Service was also really friendly and helpful!

Can't go wrong. Great atmosphere, spacious area... Delicious breakfast and coffees. Also located in a nice cute laneway. Good way to start the day with friends

A great breaky in a laneway in Melbourne. Fantastic.

Do you like coffee?
Do you like laneways?
Do you like delightful decor?
Do you like great service?

The you will probably like Manchester Press!
And if you don't....well.....I'm sorry.

Some of the best coffee in Melbourne, as well as a unique bagel focused menu, all as delicious as one another, though personally I can't go past the pulled pork.

Best coffee I had in Melbourne, kept going back for a takeaway flat white. Really nice people and even eventually dropped in for breakfast (their bagels are excellent).

This is the only brunch place in the city I would revisit, hardware lane brunch places.. uh
Manchester Press has great coffee, loved the food & quality service. I've been back 3 times now and many more to come
D. T.
The food is still great but they use to do the marscapone bagel for half the price and the surcharge on weekends is a bit much. Not sure I'll go back.

Visiting from Brisbane and googled best coffee Melbourne and Manchester Press was on the list. Fantastic coffee, food and friendly service. When I'm back in Melbourne this will be my go to spot.

Wonderful coffee, def going back and recommending!

Tried the coconut chia pudding and Nutella hot chocolate. The pudding was amazing, healthy and filling. Good and quiet ambiance (early on a weekday). It's not that cheap but the place is cosy and the service good enough.

Great food, but it was quite busy and we had to wait a while both to be seated and for food. However it is a weekend in the holidays so fair enough. Note that they don't split bills on weekends.

Went here this morning. Everything was nice. Waiters was friendly...but I think guy at register better put little smile on his face when dealing with customer. Just start ur morning with smile:)

So good and beautiful coffee place, didn't try that much but the plates are beautiful too. Good to just chill a bit with some friends

Some of my favourite coffee in the area. Also, awesome bagel selection, fantastic little sweets! I'm in love with this place

Lovely coffee, will be my new regular from now on!!

Great little hidden laneway gem.
I found out about Manchester Press using the Bean Hunter app on Android. All you need to do is stand at the corner of Hardware Lane and Little Bourke Street and search for nearby cafes. This is ground zero for a quality cup of rich bean. Within a few metres are a number of well known and some lesser known hip cafes. Competition is stiff but Manchester Press serves up a top shelf coffee made from beans that are apparently a secret blend, which is roasted in Queensland and flown down twice a week. A unique, albeit smallish menu has plenty to offer, especially in the way of gourmet bagels.
All I can say is there will never be too many of these barnstorming cosmopolitan cafes in or around Melbourne. Keep up the good work.

Was recommended to go here for good coffee.Coffee was good but nothing extra special compared to other Cafe's.Dull atmosphere,I prefer Cafe's with lots of character.Bagel with peanut butter was ok.

Good place and nice coffee.

Great coffee. Simply great. Quick friendly service. Good brew. Served just right. Have there or take away.

Bagels and coffee to rave about. These guys have kept their standards up over the years and always try to fit me in, no matter how busy it gets.

great ambience. great bagels. great coffee

Food, coffee and cafe were really nice. However it's one thing to be cool and another to be too cool to smile and be friendly. Would have been 5 stars easy if I had been more welcomed.
C. M.
Great food, service and an awesome atmosphere! Highly recommend any of the bagels on offer, all are delicious and make for a great Insta shot!

I was enjoying going to this place for a short while as it's hidden away from the busy CBD and the food's okay. However, one day I was attempting to sit in there and have a coffee whilst reading a book and one of the staff came over to me pretending to tip-toe and started to whisper to me asking if I was okay? Not sure if he was on drugs or just a failed arts student that thought he was funny. Either way, I just thought he was annoying and it ruined the relaxing time I was having. I would go back providing this staff member no longer works there as he was just a disturbance....this was quite a while ago though so maybe he has finally moved on and is now living off DSP.

I have never been a fan of bagels but now I realise I have never had a bagel done correctly. The food here is just wonderful and the coffee is quite good.

So hip it hurts. Great ambience, not too loud so good for meetings, good staff and all cards accepted. Latte served in crockery don't k ow what that's about.

We were so impressed with everything about this place.
The food was delicious, the service outstanding and I've got to mention their brilliant way to wait for a table.
We'll definitely be back.
S. L.
Go the pulled pork if you want a party in your mouth. However I'd rather attentive and friendly service rather than picking at your acrylic nails (food safetly hazard just fyi) and looking uninterested as a new guest walks in the door.

Every time I visit Melbourne I make sure to stop for a bagel inspired dish. One of the best places in the city for a brekkie brunch or even a light lunch.
C. L.
Great place for brunch. The bagels are their speciality, and it certainly didn't disappoint. Coffee was good too.
P. J.
Always excellent food here! You get what you pay for, delicious bagels and coffee.
Service is quick and the staff are friendly.
R. W.
Amazing food and great atmosphere, dropped in for a tasty cream cheese bagel to go and wasn't disappointed. Definitely a must!
L. H.
Super friendly staff, nice space hidden in a secondary street.
A nice variety of (copious) bagels with fresh juices to indulge yourself for lunch/brunch.
Definitely a good choice!

The most hipster place I went in Melbourne, the staff were fed up looking with their lifes. It seemed like my 3 friends and my presence was a serious inconvenience.
Food was great tho :D

So far, this has been the only place where I've been able to buy bagels that match the ones I had when I lived in New York. Really worth a visit - you won't regret it.
F. Y.
This place was modelled after an actual ex printing press place, and is relatively large for what they've revamped into. That said, on weekends, they can still get really crowded, and you'd have to wait to get a seat. Do get their coffee, and try to get anything with avocado / guac - it's quite the bomb. However, if you're here specifically for the coffee, I think there are other places around Melbourne that you can go specially for the coffee, without the wait.
B. M.
Bagels and coffee was good - but nothing overly impressive. It is a good spot with a great atmosphere but I don’t think it quite made the 5/5.

Nice coffee in a hidden alleyway at the heart of Melbourne CBD
R. d.
Amazing café! Definitely worth a visit 😊

I expected the usually, eggs Benedict but on a bagel but it was more. It is a unique experience down an alley with delicious open and closed bagel meals.
M. L.
Yeah look, it was good. My Ruben was absolutely bangin. But both of my son's, Jake and Jeffers, we're hit on by a creepy man called Steve. Steve is my friend and I invited him to lunch, but he did end up ruining the meal. The food was good though and so was the staff. Aside from Jake and jeffers being scarred for life by hypersexual, toxic masculinity, the overall dinning experience was top notch. I am no longer friends with Steven. Five stars.

First time to Melbourne and the best coffee I had was here. A bit hidden with a quiet relaxed atmosphere. Fresh tasty bagel
