Great coffee, reasonable food, creative dishes that don’t always work, serving sizes sometimes small. No bookings on weekends, waitlist only.
S. K.
Great breakfast and coffee :) I got the potato hash and it was cooked perfectly, perfectly poached eggs and lovely thick chunk of bacon that was super-tender. A good selection of coffee too.
J. L.
It's been a long time since the last visit. The menu wasn't as exotic compared to previous visits so it took a few passes to figure out what to eat for brunch and maximise the experience.
The scrambled eggs in XO sauce came with Asian greens and a fried bread stick that's reminiscent of the Chinese doughnut. I'd opted for a rash of bacon as well, which was on the lean side, how I like it. XO sauce is one of my favourite flavours and you can't go wrong with it.
The place looked just like how I remembered it. Staff were friendly and chirpy throughout the visit. This place is a haven for coffee lovers, a great place for connoisseurs to check out the diverse range of brews.
A. E.
Coffee was good and the staff were friendly. While I was pretty impressed, there were a few not so good things.
I had the potato rosti dish. It was quite yum. Others had avocado on toast.
One person on my table found the hot chocolate to be like warm milk and not very tasty. Overall for what we got, it was a little pricey. Reasonably easy to get to and plenty of parking near by. 1 he free spots worked okay.

Easily one of the better brunch cafes in all of Melbourne, and that's saying something. The venue is always a delight, the food on point and coffee stands out.
Absolute recommendation is the cauliflower dish, you can't go wrong. The menu is so refined and well thought out, there's real value in coming here .. you certainly will be proud you did it 😉

We ordered the Onion Soubise Toast which I absolutely LOVED! Great serving size and packed full of flavour. This one’s for the cheese and onion lovers like me.
The Potato Hash was okay, we added the anchovy sauce to the side in case it was too fishy (it wasn’t - just the expected saltiness). The potato was a little difficult to eat at times.
Super friendly service, these guys are machines at pumping out coffees and food on a busy morning. Very impressive.
V. S.
Absolutely fantastic. One of the best breakfast I’ve ever had. So yummy 🤤. Staff are so friendly and helpful. I’ve chosen this Cafe because of rate on google and I am so happy with this decision. Highly recommended.
Thanks 🙏
E. M.
Great coffee and staff clearly put effort into their service which was appreciated. However the food was a bit of mixed bag.
The dishes were creative, with unique flavour combinations but didn’t feel like it necessarily worked, or made it better.
Sometimes people just want the brunch classics done well or a hearty toasted Sandwich.
Would go back again for a change but can’t see it being a staple for me personally.
J. N.
So, amazing coffee, & coffee cake 🙏
Would highly recommend for every coffee craved through the day.
A further positive to this place, they follow government mandates like their (& your) life depends on it, you will most definitely be safe while enjoying your coffee.
- Reply to manager.
Today was one of those days where getting pestered for a sign in confirmation wasn’t outweighed by the coffee itself.
If people want to avoid the background checks prior to breakfast, this place is a 3 star.
Y. P.
Very great coffee and food is fantastic!
Many people recommend me to go there, now I know why everyone love there! I ordered hash brown and burger! Both very delicious and coffee too! Staff are very friendly even tho busy time! Hope this cafe is near my home😂❤️
A. M.
Proud Mary proudly ticks every box in being one of the best places for brunch. The food is great, the coffees brilliant and the service is friendly and quick. We walked in on a Sunday morning without a booking and were seated inside of 15 minutes.
I had the hash with thick cut bacon and not being a fan of anchovies asked for the bagna cauda to be replaced with relish which was happily taken care of. Everything was perfect in the combination of a few simple elements. My partner had the miso roasted cauliflower and remarked on how well all the elements were put together and simply tasted great. We will definitely be going back to try out the rest of their menu.
P.S - the milkshakes are delicious and a steal!
K. D.
Nice gluten free bread. Most expensive breakfast we’ve ever had. $6 for a piece of bacon 🧐

Found out about Proud Mary from another cafe many years ago and didnt know Proud Mary is a cafe here in Fitzroy Collingwood. We also recently bought a bag of Humbler blends from an online store but didn't there there was actually a physical store of Proud Mary. We visited Collingwood and saw it on Google Maps and came for a visit and was blown away by this place. Proud Mary is a very cool cafe and they do have some really good coffee beans highly recommended!!!
J. Y.
Unique creative menu and delicious food! The food portions are good too! We enjoyed our avocado and cauliflower dishes. A bustling busy cafe, with lots of people getting takeaways.
We went at around 11:30 in a Saturday and it took us around an hour to wait to get seated, to order and receive our food. The wait was long, but at least the food made up for it. However, the waitresses were a little cold, and service was minimal.

Finally, I made it back to Proud Mary. The first encounter was in 2016, when I met their roaster in Honduras, during the Cup of Excellence competition Tegucigalpa 🇭🇳. The second encounter with Proud Marry was in Portland, Oregon 🇺🇸 in September 2018 during the ASIC Coffee Science Conference. I still remember the beautiful pour-over coffee I enjoyed from the Pacas family: El Salvador 🇸🇻, La Esperanza – Bernardina Honey, with notes of passion fruits, mandarin, and pineapple. The flavors were delicate, the acidity was juicy, the mouthfeel was smooth and the aftertaste clean, lingering, sweet, and long-lasting.
My third encounter was on 10 February 2019 in Melbourne 🇦🇺 after MICE: I ate an amazing burger and enjoyed a beautiful batch brew from Nuhan Fernandez in Honduras 🇭🇳: Finca Don Andres. The cup was vibrant, with floral notes, yellow stone fruits, and lime.
On 26 April 2019 I was lucky, and met Maria and Alfredo Pacas in El Salvador 🇸🇻, during the award ceremony of the CoE Competition. Their coffee placed 3rd with their amazing Bernardina variety. Their coffee was my personal favorite. It was beautifully tea-like, with subtle floral 🌸 and white peach 🍑 notes, citric 🍊, with a velvety smooth texture and an endless lingering sweet aftertaste. I totally fell in love with this coffee for the second time. Remember, I first tasted it at Proud Mary in Portland.
Last November during WCC in 🇮🇹, I had the pleasure to taste La Esperanza again – anaerobic process, roasted by Tosca from Varietals in the Netherlands 🇳🇱. I really like this Bernardina variety. And here, I am again. At Proud Marry in Melbourne and guess what coffee I enjoyed the most: BERNARDINA – WASHED from El Retiro (Pacas family): beautiful tropical fruit flavors of peach, papaya, and mango 🥭. The acidity was well integrated, juicy. The mouthfeel was silky and the aftertaste clean and long-lasting.
It seems that wherever I go, I bump into Proud Mary, the Pacas family and the Bernardina variety. The barista at Proud Mary was super nice, very knowledgeable, and amazingly friendly. I nearly forgot… My salad was healthy and super tasty too. Sometimes we forget, there are other things than just coffee. THANK YOU.
M. N.
Staff are always helpful and friendly. Both coffee and meals are seasonal, so you get a good variety as a regular. The must try coffee is the "Nitro Cold Brew" which is refreshingly good on a hot Melbourne day. Credit Card payments are accepted as are the splitting of bills. There's indoor and outdoor seating and you can order online.
D. B.
Great staff with great service. Excellent good and very nice coffee
R. H.
Proud Mary, what can I say? The iconic cafe in Collingwood which gets rather busy most days for a very good reason! You just cannot go wrong with this place as they have great coffee (have their own beans), friendly staff and delishy dishes at reasonable prices.
N. S.
Yummy food as usual and plenty of options for vegetarians too. Serving staff are super! I remember one of them jumping up from lunch to sort the billing out as they offered free coffee and a cake instead of us waiting for an hour ( this is not the norm as I have been here before - they can still take 15 to 20 mins on weekend) for our order to arrive :) It is quiet a Melbourne establishment and one should certainly try!
V. W.
What amazing food here. We ordered the potato hash which came with a large rosti which was finely shredded and had a crisp outside. The thick cut bacon was salty and complimented the bagna cauda. Eggs were slightly cooked but luckily just the way I liked them. For a refreshing side, the kale and radicchino salad was great
h. A.
Great coffee and very very very nice staff
I like the atmosphere of this coffee shop. Really cool to dine in. Must visit to try their great coffee.
J.
Excellent café, where you can try very good coffee, I was surprised to feel the difference in taste between an expresso and a cold drip
And the staff can explain you why and answer all your questions about coffee
I really recommend this amazing place 👍👌
A. g.
Been to this place over weekend and the the coffee ☕️ selection was quite great. Me and friends tried a Hot chocolate & Flat white , Cappuccino and they had lot of flexible options when it comes to order as the order was taken and paid completely online even for dine in options. Would have given 5 star ⭐️, but just felt that item description in online ordering portal could have been more descriptive, as few items felt confusing as we had to ask the waiter for the exact contents in it. Otherwise a great place with a classy food selection.
E. C.
Our favourite coffee shop in Melbourne. I know everyone says every place is the best coffee in the city but no, Proud Mary really is!!
T. C.
Got takeaway so can only comment on the espresso shot delivered, 3/5 is kind. Atmosphere seemed nice though, Mary would be proud of the presentation if not the coffee on offer
G.
Absolutely beautiful desserts, coffee was spectacular. Very busy and yet order system is well structured and very effecient as waiting time was not long at all. I would definately recommend if you are looking for 5 star food and service.
D. S.
A real coffee institute. They are always serving the tastiest coffee and offer advice when you can’t make a decision. The team are always friendly and it’s great to see them smiling and laughing, even during these times. Something has changed and I like it!
M. M.
One of the famous cafe in Melbourne!!
Coffee was so nice and the decor was funky.
I really like this cafe. All cups they serve are light blue colour. It's so cute and had enjoyed drinking a coffee.
You can also buy some original coffee beans.
At that time I tried to have a long black from Panama and flat white from El Salvador.
It's flavorful and great smell as well.
I would come back there soon.
Can't wait to have another one!!
G. F.
I've been stopping by this corner coffee space for a few years now and didn't realise I'd not left a review. 'Bout time it was done!
Love this place...
Now on weekends, and even today a Monday mid morning, this place is busy. As a lone diner there is usually space at the window or bar near the barista. Weekend and you're a large group? Expect to wait.
The coffee here is exacting and scientific. Each dose is freshly ground, weighed and then extracted for exactly 30 seconds.
Pour-overs are a wonder to watch.
So yea the coffee here is amazing.
The food is also great. Lots of interesting choices with a menu that is one the more "exotic" side with eggs on toast a simple $11 affair but it's easy to head north of a $20 plate for breakfast once you get fancy. Not that fancy is a bad thing, the food is awesome, worth the money and for me worth the wait.
Not your everyday breakfast place but for me it's a fab splurge every now and then.
This is a place I would be taking people who I want to impress.
J. A.
Definitely funky, but were they good and harmonious dishes? Nope. Choice of cucumber in watermelon and pork belly salad was a bad idea. Watermelon and pork belly and the sauce was okay.
T. B.
Great staff! Very helpful. Food is delicious and coffee is the best in Melbourne
P. A.
This place is incredible. From food to coffee and interior design, it is absolutely my favorite one to have breakfast at on a weekend! Service is fast and the staff is very friendly. Went early on a sunday morning and it was already a bit crowded - even though we didn’t wait for a table - it would’ve been def worth it!
S. M.
A really good place for brunch. Generous portion sizes which is often hard to come by for brunch. I got the potatoe hash which was lovely. Served with bacon, poached eggs, kale and anchovie sauce. Delocious. Lovely coffee too, they make it extra jot if you ask which is what I like. Went on a weekday, I would avoid at the weekned because of qeues
G. F.
Visited this place on recommendation from my regular in Sydney !! I was not disappointed !! The service was great and the food was even better. I was not disappointed with the coffee ! The cold drip is amazing !! Lots of attention to detail and certainly fast service ! A quick 86 tram ride from the CBD and a short walk !! Worth the visit !!
C. L.
I want to say a big heartfelt thank you to every member of the team for keeping me sane these past few months. Yes the coffee is fab, and the food is delicious. But it’s the kindness, laughter and care that we have shared during lockdown that keeps me coming back. Oh, and donut day!
S. P.
One of the best roasters in town & a nice cafe too. They've got the best decaf the best water process decaf I've found
C. Y. (.
A hippy and vibrant coffee shop! Fabulous food and awesome coffee! Like the people and service there! Soft crab burger was super yummy~ music was nice~ let’s rock!!! :)
N.
Great coffee, warm and inviting amenity. Ordered a latte which was great but the waitress scuttled away before I could ask for sugar, which was subsequently bought in a babycino cup. Bizarre.
Y. N.
Good coffee and brunch server. We ordered the potato hash and it tastes very good.
Staffs are attentive.
Background music quite loud though.
T. T.
Weekend brunch with friends. Waited table for 5-7 mins. Seated and ordered coffee (good quality) and some foods. I ordered the infamous potato hash, I should say they are amazing! Buttery potato rosti, chunky and melting bacon, completed with some kale for garnish. Great flavour especially the rosti with buttery sauce. Must try guys! The place can get quite packed at lunch time. Make sure you arrive earlier.
L. W.
Super love their breakfasts options. Will definitely pay another visit to try out again on other choices.
Was crowded and queue needed to get a table. Coffee was good too.
D. N.
Proud Mary has got to be one of my favourite breakfast places of all time, the coffee is always perfection, it gives you the best start to your morning, and it’s always consistently good. The menu is vastly improved over the years, it was delicious, and savoured each bite. Even though it was a busy morning, I did not wait long for a table, to be served, or for my coffee or food to come out. Take a look around the streets, you’ll be able to find some free parking, just take note of the times. I will be coming back again Mary!
J. H.
Very nice place, with an amazing menu. Their food is top class, great varieties and super delicious! Coffees are fantastic, I love their nitrogen infused cold brew.
Limited outdoor seating available, so bring your dog!
A. i. e.
the food here r big portion~
coffee also big😂
but nothing too impressive for me except the size~
if u r curious about here, not a bad choice to try one time since its food menu is a little special comparing with the other cafe
but I will not come back again for delicious coffee or food
D. I.
We went on a busy Saturday morning and managed to get a seat right away (though a line former starting around 11am). Ordered a cappuccino and kimchi avo toast, both were delicious. Lovely place, would highly recommend.
M. G.
Breakfast here is really good. We got the Bircher and the ricotta hot cake. The presentation of both dish was beautifully done and they both tasted really good too. The service was great, I asked question about the dishes and our server was really helpful and happy to answer any questions I had.
M. (.
Staff very friendly, well explained for us who have no idea about the coffee.
The food is so good.. recommend avocado kimchi and salmon cream cheese. We love it so much :)
J. B.
Proud Mary is a regular repeat for when we're in Melbourne. The coffee is good, and the food always fantastic. This trip I had the potato hash, which came with a kale salad, thick cut bacon and a poached egg.
The staff are friendly and helpful, and the cafe had a real buzz about it. Plus it's an easy walk to the nearby shops, and a quick tram trip back into town.
The best way to start a long weekend of shopping, eating and cycling in Melbourne...
W. W.
Delicious fusion food packed with lots of flavours! The waiters were also very friendly and welcoming when we went.
B. N.
Well Proud Mary being one of my all time favourite songs by CCR, had to give this cafe a try during my visit to Melbourne. Tried their Pine Mushroom Corn Bread - so delicious. Good coffee too. Definitely going back and highly recommend.
m. c.
Oh my! Food is so delicious, coffee tasty and balanced and the floor staff is amazing, so helpful and kind! You guys deserve 10 stars just for your kindness during this difficult time!
M. V.
Totally mouth watering and amazing food, we had breakfast ~ brunch here and it was cool, As a lover of the pig 🐷 in the year of the pig 🐽 I had a side of bacon, which was amazing check out the snap below. If you are in the hood best to visit, amazing service, coffee and food 🔟/🔟 🎲
A. T.
A great way to start my Sunday. Proud Mary delivered the goods with my eggs on toast and a side of thick cut bacon.
The staff were friendly and helpful, it was quiet easy to find a spot to sit on Sunday morning. The food and drink came out very promptly after ordering which was great.
K. Z.
Haven't been to Proud Mary since COVID. My husband used to take me here for brunch. Now I really hope it will be back to normally and take my daughter to join the brunch as well.
K. L.
Great coffee and excellent and friendly staff. A place I'll not get tired of everytime I'm in Melbourne. Not to mention they have a great sound system!
M. M.
The coffee here is off the scale. A bit like the coffee machine. One of da best coffee ive had. Good food and good music playing. I luuuurv this place and will endevour to come back here everytime im in Melbourne.
K. F.
Everything about Proud Mary is fantastic. I’ve been drinking their coffee for years via the Sydney cafe scene and never visited the cafe in Melbourne until this past week. The coffee was deliciously smooth and we had beautiful looking and tasting breakfasts. Spot on, guys!
R. M.
We went there for a brunch after lockdown. I think way over-rated. The food design and quality was good but nothing especial. And very expensive. You can get the best brunch by paying half of this price!!
J. B.
I've been to both the Portland and Melbourne locations, and the food and coffee at both are top notch. Great vibes here in Melbourne, the brunch options were refreshing and interesting, and the coffee was excellent. Pricing was pretty reasonable, on the higher side.
j. s.
Friendly waiters, very good coffee and the food was really tasty, not disappointed at all by this cafe !
M.
Great coffee but a bit pricey. Consistent though. Would like to return to try their food.
M. T.
One of my fave Melbournian cafes - Proud Mary's coffee never disappoints.
P. M.
Exceptional food, courteous customer service. What else do you ask for?
I will definitely return. Cost around $25 per person with drinks and food. Try their burgers, yum.
L. H.
This is now my favorite brunch spot in Melbourne if not Australia.
Salted egg with sourdough, cream cheese and salmon is amazing. All the flavored elements go together perfectly -10/10!
K. L.
I’m sure with the amount of people at the cafe it must be good, and we just came on an off day, service average, and slow, food however was good, but with the reviews expecting more.
L. H.
We knew it'd be a wait coming here on a weekend but it was worth it. There was even a line just to buy coffee to go.
I had the Cauliflower Saag which had light ingredients but a good amount of flavour and was a filling meal with the roti on the side. The staff - despite being run off their feet - were helpful & friendly.
I'd definitely come here again but either much earlier or later. Parking around here can be tricky to find so public transport is a good & convenient option!
A. W.
One of the best coffee I've had in Melbourne. They also serve great brunch and amazingly friendly n professional staff. Will definitely comeback again here.
C. V.
Amazing and interesting food. Amazing twists on classic brunches. Staff are super friendly and dog friendly too ❤️
P. P.
The last three or four trips to Melbourne have always included breakfast here! Great food, great coffee and excellent service! Love it!
G. H.
With so many great options in Melbourne Proud Mary remains on the top of the list whenever I travel down. Coffee options are always varied and great, service is friendly and the food is delicious. Thanks guys!
E. E.
I get beans delivered every fortnight and their product is the best I've found in Melbourne. It's actually a treat when they arrive!
D. M.
Love this cafe. Delicious food, great coffee and vibrant atmosphere. One of my favourite in Collingwood.
B. P.
Dan dan noodles for breakfast, need I say more? Awesome brunch spot with unique food offerings that pack a lot of flavour. Great coffee to boot
V.
An unassuming cafe that got no signboard outside makes the best coffee in the near suburbs of Melbourne. Many places I end up asking for extra shot for my coffee. But not here as the coffee is made perfectly with right milk to coffee ratio. The vibe of the place and the great customer service is an added bonus.
K. W.
Great vibe, great food, great coffee, great people. This is the absolute perfect place to be, wish I didn't have to leave!
T. D.
Everything about this place is five stars. Service is faultless, Food is delicious (I can highly recommend the potato hash with thick cut bacon)..and of course the coffee is outstanding. Try some of their single origin espressos..or do what I did and try them all 😳🤯
E. S.
Overpriced. Coffee wasn’t great. Nice toast with avocado. Hot choc was terrible. Needs a change table in the toilets
L. L.
food was so delicious 🥰 coffee - good as always!!
R.
Lovely food. Great service. Amazing coffee!
Can be busy during lunch time.
J. W.
Decent service and great coffee and foods, though options for vegan could be limited. Place could get very busy during lunch hours, we waited for a good 20-min before getting our table.
B. P.
Love everything about Proud Mary, great space, coffee food and service. Give the Hash a go and the Colombian coffee. Chai latte one of melbournes best and gluten free carrot cake to die for
J. F.
Amazing food and coffee. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and knowledgeable about the different types of coffee. Good place for catch up with friends.
D.
As a Radelaidian, I found Please Say Please to have the best coffee in the city, so I just had to check out the origin of the beans at Proud Mary Cafe when I was passing through Melbourne. They did not disappoint. Lovely aroma the moment you walk in the door and coffee was brewed to perfection. Friendly and attentive staff, and breakfast options to die for!
P. F.
The avocado kimchi toast didn’t taste good - the avocado taste was pretty diluted.
But the bacon hash was good.
B. “.
I had the Mork Chocolate French Toast & Chai Latte.
French toast was a small portion but delicious. Chai latte was just right. Venue is cosy. I would return for a coffee but would not order food again as it was simply too small for the price paid.
J. V.
Coffee was nice, good service as well, the staff are always friendly. The only let down was the food. The pancake option seemed pricey for the one pancake you got. The toast with avocados option looked sad as well.
J. A.
Amazing coffee. One of the Melbourne greats
D. C.
Perfect coffee, consistently delicious food really lovely staff.
I.
Excellent service and the friendliest of staff.
The ricotta hotcakes were drenched in the pimms syrup, which made them too soggy to eat. It would have been better to have the syrup in a cup instead.
D. W.
Great coffee, great service, and excellent food. A little pricey but always worth it.
鄭.
Nice special sauce on asparagus salad
There's a girl staff with the most cute and kind in this country.
M. A.
Reached mid noon doing a desolate walk from metro station. But the vibe in cafe was great .. peppy music and a great cappuccino with in house coffee blend. Great taste of roasted beans
Y. S.
A variety of retails of coffee and absolutely amazing coffee. They have 2 S.O and Filters each, all of them are special.
Next time I want to try their food, thank you team!!
S. N.
Very friendly staff and delicious food. I had the roasted cauliflower salad and it was absolutely yummy. Banana bread was great as well. Will come again!
C. Z.
Good food and Interior Design;but took 20mins to prepare the food - Toooo long for a Friday 1pm brunch when there are not much customers around
F. S.
My coffee was a touch expensive ($14 for a V60), but it was tasty and quick even with the long line.
C.
Great service, great food and great coffee. I had the roasted lamb burger with a mocha, both of which were delicious. Overall a very nice cafe that's definitely worth a visit.
P.
Tasty af! Every one of our meals was unreal! Amazing service super knowledgeable about their coffee. Will definitely be back for more. Yummo 😍😍
D. K.
Lovely coffee as usual, and my friend loved the asian twist to the brunch
P.
Amazing service, tasty food and drinks. Nice ambient (enjoyed the afternoon sunshine entering through the window and reading coffee related magazines they have there). Prices are as any melbourian trendy cafe. Would definitely recommend it.
D. M.
New Menu - Asian Inspired Breakfast Tapas
We live on Oxford St but won't be coming back. Food is good, but portion sizes are small and you'd have to spend a small fortune to feel satisfied. (I had to have a bowl of muesli at home afterwards.)
It'll be interesting to see how the new menu is received. It'll probably do well as a once off novelty for people, but I can't see this being someone's 'local'.
Good luck Proud Mary! It's a brave move, I hope it works out for you.
T.
Coffee 7/10
Food 8/10
Service 8/10
J. K.
Excellent coffee, friendly staffs, nice food. Love their potato hash with steak cut bacon.
黃.
Amazing coffee! We Tried different origins (Brazil and Ethiopia) and they’re both lovely.
M. Z.
Great venue with friendly and attentive staff. Beautiful coffee and food, which were delivered quickly. Very happy to come again!
K. L. C.
Amazing food and ambiance. Very flexible options for allergies. Top notch coffee
N. A.
Food and coffee definitely stands out above most!! Tried their most popular dishes, the curry scramble and potato hash, and I can see why they’re so popular! Was bloody delicious.
g. m.
For some reason I was expecting to be blown away by the coffee, but I wasn’t completely, maybe after spending 6 days of 5 coffees a day around Melbourne, my expectations were too high. Will go back again for sure though..
u. u.
Best breakfast I had in Melbourne so far. Tasty, fresh ingredients, the bacon was very thick and cooked perfectly. The fresh juice was amazing. No hesitation in giving 5 stars.
J. W.
Fantastic food and coffee served by happy people in a funky place with a great vibe. Came back 4 times while staying close by for a week. Do yourself a favour....go there! ☺
D. C.
Quick service, nice coffee, good food. Keep up the good work guys 💪💪💪
M. P.
Great coffee, nice service, warm environment and decoration
A. E.
Bloody good coffee, bloody great people who work very hard to look after you too. Always come here for a coffee and pick me up of a friendly smile and genuine "good morning".
They practice covid guidelines and ensure you're in a clean environment too so you feel very safe.
P. D.
Good brunch, good coffee, good atmosphere for chilling. What else could you ask for?
D. S.
The hype about this place was amazing and although I'd been here previously and thought it a bit ho hum, I've returned and found it much better. This is why you can't take a place on just one visit. Proud Mary did the place Proud today.
I went for brunch and the place was jam packed with people, a little noisy but kinda had a funk going on that was enjoyable. Coffee was better than last time. Nice and hot and not too much froth. Eggs were nicely cooked and toast perfect.
Service - fabulous. Very attentive and despite being busy, they took our order quickly and service was fast. Thank you.
Notes: Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Parking is as you would expect in Collingwood.
Look forward to coming back again.
C. K.
My no.1 favourite cafe in Melbourne, best coffee, great food, and always great service
A. U.
Service was great, such a good coffee.
C. D.
Homemade coco crisp french toast! Third time I have had it, excellent as ever.
B. R.
I feel obligated to give these guys a 5 star review. I don't live in VIC, nor have I ever been to the actual Cafe. I have been subscribed to Proud Mary's single origin filter coffee subscription for the past few months and it is by far the most out there, weird coffee I've tried, and that's a good thing. The extra little touch that they provide by giving a history of the relationship with the growers and some details on the roasting really helps me to develop my own taste and learn what I like in a cup of coffee.
I'll be honest, I can't afford most of the deluxe/limited editions coffees that PM's releases, but the few that I have been able to get my hands on have been worth every cent. Especially when compared to the gimmicky hype of something like black ivory coffee. PM deluxe coffee is far from bad value.
They also reply to me when I text them back on their promo texts, which is pretty cool.
The only think that I would like to see would be a way to add other products to my recurring orders. If I want something extra that fortnight, I don't like needing to have two seperate orders that arrive at different times and doubling up on shipping fees.

Superb food. Exotic Coffee you won't findd anywhere else around the world! Convenient location and FREE parking! What an awesome to spend our honeymoon and my birthday! Thank you Proud Mary.

My fav cafe in town! Love the iced mocha there!

Loved the award winning Cup of Excellence filter coffee from Brazil, this was accompanied by a yummy Crab and Potato Omelette.

Great food , fantastic coffee and friendly staff

Hello from Sydney, I've been buying your coffee beans for past 4 years from a small cafe in Newtown called Handcraft. Yesterday I bought natural processed Colombian by Jorge Rojas.
It's so impressive that I have no qualm in saying I haven't had a coffee so exotic in last 10 years...
A. m.
Awesome spot but best avoided on weekends. We waited nearly an hour for a table of 4. Not to be mistaken as a downside, the place was rocking. The food was excellent and the coffee superb. Now one of my favourite brunch spots in Melbourne. A must try!
P. C.
Food and coffee really great but usually long wait here
P. W.
Great coffee if a little cool for me. Loved the potato hash with thick bacon and anchovy and garlic sauce.
J. P.
Yum. Food is amazing. Pure cacao hot chocolate is delish
J. T.
It's always an enjoyable visit, must watch their top end coffee specialist

Good coffee and fast service even in the hectic time.

Everything was on point — coffee, food, and service. Definitely the best cafe experience we tried in Melbourne. Definitely going back on our next trip. 😊

We used to live in the area and love the coffee here and let me state first up that nothing has changed there, the coffee is outstanding. The food is also very good and the atmosphere is always bright and energetic. The only thing that stops a 5 star review are some of the staff here are so precious and pretentious that they think they are the stars of the show. The bearded waiter who served us made us wait (with tables free) while he went outside and checked on his car, then went out again and taped a sunshade on the windscreen. We had our infant some with us, so wanted to get things moving. We were told that the high chair would not fit next to the table we were assigned, so we politely asked the people beside if they would swap. They had overheard the conversation and were happy to oblige. The waiter made a big song and dance about not wanting to disturb the other customers (which is fair, but they were not upset at all and said they were surprised at the waiter's reaction) and then moved us to a table across the other side of the cafe while rolling his eyes and making it known that he wasn't happy to have to accomodate a child. This is the worst part of one of the best food cities in the world....
The staff from then on were friendly and efficient and made us feel at home. It only takes one bad egg to taint an otherwise delightful morning.

Favourite coffee in all of Melbourne. The coffee is crazy good and the vibes are awesome. Definitely my go to cafe. Location is also perfect, lots of shops around.
G. L.
Awesome coffee! Friendly staff, always make me happy to go there
M. D.
Great food and user-friendly staff. Loved it.
A. R.
Nice place. Good atmosphere if you like it busy and trendy. You may need to wait for a table if you go at the peak times and are a group of more than 2. 10% surcharge on weekends to be aware of. Only thing that really stops me giving a 5 was that our original order wasn't available - ran out of mushrooms - but was only told after we had ordered. Coffee was great and theres a good selection of cold brew, drip and classics. Food was good and came out pretty quickly despite how busy it was.
J. K.
Speciality coffee doesn't get much better.
M. M.
One of the best brunches you’ll ever have in (not only Melbourne, but) your entire life. Plus lovely staff and coffee. When you drink coffee here, you’ll also learn all about the farmer who helped get the coffee from the soil to your cup. I love that, and I love everything this cafe does.
S. M.
Delicious coffee, friendly and efficient service
H. H.
Loved the coffees they had on the single source selection menu. We tried all of them! Available in cold drip, espresso,...
The breakfast was good as well, about 10 to 15 options on the menu. Full of flavour and good portion sizes.
You can also buy fresh ground coffee to take home.
M. C.
I've been here a few times now and have decided it's now one of my top three! The staff are helpful, friendly and social, the food is all delicious and they introduced me to the best cold drip coffee that now I'm hooked. I would definately recommend this place but be prepared to wait for 20 minutes+ if you're going for brunch on a weekend.
A. M.
Oh my Lordy lord !! I just had the best bacon and egg roll I've ever eaten this morning at proud Mary's !!! Please keep them there for like ever !!!!! Amazing !!!!
S. M.
The coffee is always good here but my breakfast was just as good
김.
def one of the best coffee in melbourne
T. Z.
Proud Mary coffee is excellent.
The staff are friendly (though frantic as the place is always humming and busy, long waits for a table are expected). Coffee is a highlight and matched by some excellent all day breakfast items.
Always worth a go for a nice breakfast and great coffee.
H. M.
I don't usually drop images but I was blown away by the coffee and the atmosphere at this place. one can pick up the many newspapers lying there and just read and sip on the coffee. As seen in the pics I uploaded the cappuccino looks fabulous.
C. W.
An absolute institution, this place has some of the best coffee in the area, which is saying something. I've only ever eaten the sandwiches they have but the table service food looks great too. I can tell you the rueben they do is second the none and if you're lucky enough to get in while there's still some available you won't regret it. The staff are also super friendly so that's a bonus. Great place, will continue to get fat on their food and buzzed in their coffee.
S. B.
One of my favorite cafes in Melbourne. Menu is interesting and varied - the potato hash with the anchovy sauce is amazing. Coffee is incredible, as you would expect from a place that sources and roasts its own. Staff are warm, friendly and highly professional. They also sell their coffee online if you can't get there.
M. S.
Knowledgeable staff who are happy to give advice on the different specialty coffees and what's best for your particular taste. Great food and sweet treat selection- will definitely be back for a meal! Also a selection of non-coffee drinks too that is more than just the standard tea and hot chocolate option - the options available rival their coffee menu!
퓨.
I ordered my dishes and I waited, She forgot my orders..TT And Potato hash is kind of salty....That's all..
C. T.
This place deserves a five star just for its excellent customer service alone. We were only here for a coffee stop, however there weren't any available seats and it was raining outside so we didn't wanna do takeaways, but they made our wait for a table so pleasant by letting us try their filter coffee (on the house) and constantly popping by to update us about the table arrangements. The servers are super friendly and hospitable! We decided to take the window bar seats in the end as we felt bad for hogging a table if we weren’t having food.
Coffee was excellent! Their filter coffee is amazing - do try it! I'll love to return to try their food the next time.
T.
I met a mate here for some brekkie. The service is excellent, always and attentive.
I had a strong skinny latte which was perfect! Just hot enough to drink without being too hot that it burns your tongue. The coffee flavour was delicious and the latte had a lot of milk froth. I actually ordered 2 coffees and they were both perfect! 5/5.
Food wise I had scrambled eggs on Zeally Bay multigrain toast. The eggs were perfectly cooked, light, fluffy, milky ... yummo!! The toast was good too.
Overall this cafe is a must visit, it’s been consistently good since I was last there. But parking is limited to 1 hour so be careful.
January 2018 - original review
Called in here for Sunday brunch w my partner. The service was really efficient, and the coffee amazing!! It was one of the best coffees I’ve had in some time.
And not surprisingly this place was selling t/a ground coffee by the bucketload!
For brunch I had a pork belly w watermelon salad which tasted Thai inspired and it was delicious! Yummmy hahaha
My partner had avocado and kimchi toast w a poached egg and a hash brown on the side. The hash brown was delicious as was the rest of the meal. That finished off w a fresh orange juice.
Wow, this was soooo good. Just perfect... happy days.
J. G.
A busy and cool place to start or finish or just enjoy day in Collingwood. Excellent food, coffee and interior with friendly staff. I first went there to meet some friends from overseas and it instantly gave them a feel for the local flavour for those very reasons. I’ve been back several times since for a great breakfast.
A. P.
One of my favourite coffee shops in Melbourne.
J. B.
Amazing food. Great friendly service. Beautiful spot
Y. L.
Their beef short rib & potato toastie is the best! I order it every time I am there and am never disappointed. My friends love their coffee and frequently get their blend to bring home. There is usually a wait for a table but it's worth it.
C. C.
Beautiful food, delish coffee, fab and friendly service! Look closely because there's no signage to say you're at the right spot! We each had the tasting flight which was great! Highly recommend the fruit salad (so good and not over the top sweet) and the beef brisket toasted sandwich.
B. C.
This cafe is super close to my accounting shop, I bring customer here for meetings and a quick chit chat with friends. They serve delicious coffee from my home country El Salvador.

Waited years to finally visit in person. despite the covid19 lockdown and restriction, they still provide the best service regardless. Reputation speaks for itself.

Proud Mary was such a wonderful surprise! Let's go step by step:
As soon as we walked in, we were welcome right away and the table was quickly prepared for us - even though it was extremely busy with lots of people waiting to pay or just grabbing their to go coffee.
Our waitress was super sweet and took her time to explain the menu and offered personal recommendation.
I had the baked hash which ended up being one of the best brekkies I had in Melbourne in the past couple of months. The sauce was full of flavour, eggs perfectly poached, the potatoes done just right and even kale tasted amazing (can't believe I am saying that).
My boyfriend had the mushroom dish, which tasted great even to me, and I am not a fan of mushrooms.
Coffee was of course on par with everything else.
Overall an amazing experience - even the person we paid to was super friendly.
V.
The minus two star is for the girl with the braid who was rude that ONLY said to me ‘Just let you know we’re closing at 4’ with really bad attitude. I can tell that she’s in the bad mood but please don’t bring it to the customers. And then she served the ppl just arrived and didn’t mention anything about the closing time which made me really upset. Since when I entered the shop I asked that do you still take order and I would be quick that I knew you’re closing soon. The coffee is nice and all other staff are very friendly but all the nice just destroyed by the girl immediately, thanks. For the shop like this you need to pay more attention to the service.
K. G.
Best coffee, wonderful staff, nice atmosphere
M. d. V.
Fantastic coffee and amazing food. Definitely check this one out
B. A. K.
Went today for breakfast... Fabulous coffee with stories of the growers origins, and food perfectly designed and prepared. Super attentive and genuine staff. Great ambience and music. Everything spot on!
Didn’t meet Mary but if I were her I would be very proud of this place too.
S. L.
For now giving it a four stars as I didn't eat anything here yet. But the coffee is what blew me away. The staff is also extra friendly and they are very patient. Many people sir around and work or read whole sipping on their drinks here. One thing to note also here is that they have unisex toilets that makes it hard to tell also if it is occupied, making a weird awkward situation when you try to open it and someone is already inside.
G. K.
The interior is nicely decorated and the vibe is good. The coffee is really a bit bitter- we had the magic mocha and a strong latte. I had the hotcakes and the potato dish. Both were good, but as far as melbourne brunches go, it was a bit disappointing. With the other options available around, I would advise not making this one a priority.
K.
As always, Beautiful unique Melbourne roast here every time.
A. C.
Best coffee in Melbourne, period. This place has never failed me, they are so consistent, the food is awesome too.
R. A.
This joint is very likely to have the best coffee in Melbourne. Because the thing is it's consistablty amazing no matter style of coffee you drink. There is a young barista there called Dillan who works most weekend mornings, this guy blows my mind with the coffees he makes. Go there and ask one him to make you an expresso flight or even to suprise you with a tasting, you will be sorry you never met him earlier. I never knew coffee could do the things it does until I first went here
R. Y.
Great food and hang out spot.
L. M.
Great atmosphere and great vibe. Staff greeted at the door and made me feel super welcome. I tried the soft shell crab burger despite it have 'crisps' as a side. I was delighted when the order arrived and the crisps were made in house and delicious. The burger was amazing. Couldn't fault it either. Coffee was so good I couldn't resist a second cup, fourth of the day 😲. The joys of day trips to Melbs
P. K.
Came in for brunch and despite being very busy they sat us very quickly at the bar area where we could watch the barristas.
The waiting staff were very friendly and polite. We had the kimchi and the hash with coffee.
The cold brew was excellent.
The hash was my partner's favourite. While I really liked the kimchi avocado mix.
When we paid the lady at the teller was a little short and snappy with us. But it was a busy day and things happen.
Overall excellent brunch.
N. L.
Fantastic place for coffee and brunch if you don't mind the queue or sitting next to strangers. The staff is quiet friendly and genuinely cares about your stay (pretty rare within the Melbourne hospitality scene lately). Coffee is excellent, of course. Oh their Meatsmith bacon is necessary optional regardless of which dish you get.
R. W.
Unique menu, excellent food, good coffee
g. d.
Coffee was good here, it tasted very 'smooth'. Staff are extremely attentive. We also had a couple of cakes and slices from the cabinet which were better than invisaged.
L. M.
A great late lunch here. It's not huge, but has a lot of in/out traffic so we were able to get a table no problem. The coffee was excellent, very important to us! The food was great and the service was up there too
P. L.
Arguably the best coffee in Melbourne. They have been at the top for a very long time. Doesn't seem like they are heading where anytime soon. Can be pricey however.
M. T.
Gets crazy busy on Saturday and Sunday morning, but it's worth the wait and they manage expectations well. We were told 25 minute wait but were seated at the bar in less than 10 (note to other hospitality staff: under promise, over deliver!!)
Excellent coffee, good food, service is good but can be a little slow at peak times but they definitely don't drop the ball.
e. l.
Some of the most delicious cafe food I’ve had, the coffee is great too!
K. C.
Not only do they do the best coffee in Melbourne but they also have the kindest, most genuine staff I have met. They are a true testament to the brand and the main reason why this is my favourite place. Thank you Proud Mary!
L. A.
Good coffee and friendly staff
R. A.
One of my go to places for brunch, great meals and strong coffee with absolutely amazing service. I also make sure I'm stocked up on their blends of coffee beans at home because they are soooo delicious, definitely a must for anyone who wants to be able to wow guests at home
C. S.
Perfection at its finest - I cannot say more - the coffee is flawless and the food is unmatched. Proud Mary are specialists and leaders in the industry! This place is worth the wait - you will not be disappointed - it is very close to impossible.
J. C.
Good food, great coffee and friendly staff/service.
I also get my coffee beans from here and it does not skip a beat.
Their custom made 6 group head coffee machine is drool worthy and so is their cake display.
Be careful, it can get real busy at times.
f.
Coffee is good, service is good, but I can never seem to find anything normal on their menu, I've ordered some really weird stuff here and its very hit or miss. My experiences were misses though, hash-browns with anchovy sauce didn't work, and the Chinese dumpling jam thing didn't work. Sometimes I just wish I could order something normal but there menu is all over the place
R. E.
The service was easily the highlight of our experience, our waiter (young Kiwi fellow in a yellow cap and Adidas' shoes) was one of the best. Followed by delicious cold drip coffee (my sister who travelled from the Gold Coast requested we go to this cafe specifically and now I know why!) and perfectly made lattes for my Mum who can be very picky! To round out our experience the food was to die for! I had the potato hash, I was initially worried that the garlic and anchovy sauce would be too overpowering, but it was perfectly put together with the hash, poached eggs, bacon and kale salad. Needless to say I'll definitely be back!
R. E.
The best coffee in Melbourne for sure! Plus super friendly staff and awesome atmosphere. My brother, who isn't even a coffee lover said that it was the best cup of coffee that he's ever had! Definitely check this place out.
A. J.
Amazing coffee and delicious food!
S. B.
Proud Mary is the Holy Grail of coffee shops. The food is insane, the coffee is amazing and the staff are so sweet and friendly that it's like visiting a cool friend's house. Amazing gluten free and vegan options, including the best vegan & GF brownie you will ever taste. Coffee is incredible, the espresso is delicious and their batch brew is absolutely delicious, really strong and quite fruity. GO NOW.
E. C.
Bit of an institution, this cafe. Always love to come here when I'm back to visit but remembered it being better last time. Coffee is great and I love their amazing machine. The food was a little underwhelming this time and is a little pricey, but they use quality ingredients and have an interesting take on their dishes. Will still be back!
J. M.
Awesome coffe.
Heard about this place being highly regarded and with a Synesso coffee machine i was expecting good things.
Just amazing coffee made with love for sure.
Sat outside and received terrific, friendly service.
A. H.
Such a great place for coffee and a filling brunch! Staff are also super welcoming and knowledgeable
K. H.
Among the best coffee brands in Melbourne, to say the least, with a lot of great variety and some spectacular brunch fare. Coffee wise, they often have a handful of showcased black filter and espresso options. If you just want breakfast, a flat white, or a pastry, you'll be in great hands. Always great staff, year in, year out.
윤.
Good coffee, decent food.
H. J.
Nice cafe and food, have to try it !
D. C.
Awesome food, excellent service. Glad I made the trip! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
G. V.
Lovely building. Lively atmosphere. Prompt and efficient service. Delicious food. I had the roti and my husband the eggs on toast with a side of bacon. The portions were generous and the meals very satisfying.
S. O.
The BEST breakfast we've experienced in Melbourne. We tried quite a few of the "top list" spots, and I'd come back to Proud Mary again before going to any of those spots. My favourite dish out of the few times we've been is the hash, although there's an open faced pork sandwich that was pretty incredible as well. My really enjoyed the simpler items, like the sourdough with butter and jam as well.
B.
I have not dined in the cafe, but Proud Mary coffee is absolutely infallible. I drink it here at an Adelaide cafe (Please Say Please) and got a percolator just so I can make it at home. Absolutely delicious and when I order the coffee online it's a reasonable price, cheap shipping that is extremely fast! Thank you!
Q. M.
Great coffee, great food, and friendly service.
Best Hash Brown outside of Southern USA.
The staff provide quick service, always with a smile.
Perfect for a lazy Sunday morning brunch.
My favorite Collingwood coffee shop.

The food here is super creative. Even ubiquitous dishes like bircher muesli are reimagined as something entirely new. The staff are very friendly, attentive, and helpful. And the coffee is perfect. Hard to fault, really.
J. S.
Great coffee, great staff, great food; Albeit a little pricey however
C. E.
Far out. Don't see many cafes working on 6 group machines. The place was easy to find, the coffee selection was varied and well thought out, but what made it was the attitudes of all of the staff. My wife and i are both coffee professionals and you know what, from all of the cafe's we've visited in Melbourne so far, this was the only one in which the barista looked up and said hi when we came in. If we're back in the area, we'll be in for a brew. No wonder why this place was on every list of recommendations before we came to Melbourne
L. G.
I've heard so much about this place so I was really excited to visit.
I can't even remember what I ordered, but I asked for avocado on the side - and it was the worst I've ever experienced in Melbourne. It was so hard I could barely cut it into pieces. I was super disappointed. I didn't ask to replace it because all the staff seemed to be busy and annoyed so I just ate some of it and ordered another coffee because their coffee is really, really good.
It's sad that their food was such a disappointment.
M. M.
Wife and I went here probably 6 or 7 times during our 2 week vacation. Coffee is superb, and the food is great as well. Definitely the best way to start your morning in Fitzroy.
M. B.
Great coffee, in a great location
A. B.
This is a great cafe. I have been going since the day it opened. It's a busy place so bear that in mind when you go.
The coffee is always fresh and roasted near by. The food is well made and tasty.
A highly recommended cafe to go to if you are visiting the area.
Aunty Peggs nearby is the same crew and you can purchase beans and try some different coffee extractions.
g. N.
Nice place, but Cappucino was not upto standard, very milky with very little froth and a mild coffee flavour (aka a latte) Cappucino should have a strong flavour with lots of foam and just enough milk to counteract the bitterness
A. H.
Perfect coffee made with love! We had the batch brew too. Food is great! Try to brioche :) a range of coffee menu to try so try it all!
J. O.
Used to be the best coffee in Melbourne, but now over priced and under strength - very disappointing. Tried them again after several years and coffee still tastes like warm milk and service quite poor.
D. F.
We are visiting the area and love this place. It is a favorite of our friend who lives here as well. Service is really good even when they are busy. Always a smile and upbeat. The food is excellent and it isn't the same run of the mill dishes served everywhere. It is very cozy but thats also part of the really nice vibe the place has. Highly recommended and definitely get the home brewed kombucha!
D. C.
The place is always busy, the jams always groovy and coffe sublime. The good menu is a bit of a hit and miss while the atmosphere isn’t very warm. Best to take your coffee away and enjoy it at a spot of your own liking.
B. G.
Always busy but accommodating. Staff are excellent and the coffee the best I've had in Melbourne. The hot chocolate is great as well, they use a mix by Mork (Can't say myself by reports are its great).
A. C.
Supremely tasty food, excellent presentation. Superb fresh roasted coffee and the best staff ever. No matter how busy they are, they take great care of the customer. Go there, you won't be disappointed.
鄭.
Fantastic food , lovely staff,Great!

Friendly staff, nice ambiance, good coffee, a very nice place to hang out and have a quality time with your friends.
A. G.
Friendly, and welcoming staff, very laid back atmosphere. I was disappointed that when i visited i didn't have time to sit down and only had time for a takeaway as i was in a rush. Cant wait to visit again!
C. D.
we came here after having had a run in in another cafe (plug nickel) from a snotty barista. both cafe hadn't updated their menu online and we were looking for muesli that was no longer available. but the manager here was so lovely and understanding. we highly recommend the place. all the staff were so friendly and efficient.
the plate we did get (the mushroom and Parmesan custard) was amazing. and kind of cheered us up. thanks guys!
Y. J. S.
The wait for food is pretty long, but they have amazing delicious options and really good coffee. Some times it can get crowded, but I've never waited long to get a table! Their wait staff is great too, friendly casual and attentive.
T. S.
My second favourite brunch place in Collingwood. The coffee is on point and the Sammies (toasted sandwiches) are amazing! Make sure you ask for a side of chutney for an added flavour boost.
E. C.
Stop 3: Coffee excellent. Food great - I had the potato hash i think it was called, incredible sauce. Quite busy. Staff friendly and attentive. I will return with a friend. 4.5/5 if that was available to score.
J. S.
These guys were really fantastic.
The coffee was on point and when our filter was taking a while (as filter coffee often does) they brought us out a free sample of their nitros coffee, which was also delicious.
The food was fantastic as well, the hot cakes were incredibly spongy and the smashed avo was the best I've ever had.
S. 1.
One of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had and the coffee was fantastic too. Good WiFi and the service was super friendly. Great place all around.

I came to Proud Mary with high expectations and they were exceeded. Their service was really friendly, and the wait staff are knowledgeable and will patiently explain the menu and coffee. You know you’re in a proper café when the food and coffee menus are separate – love it! When in Melbourne, be sure to drop in…no actually, make it your first stop.
T. L.
Cool cafe with friendly service. It's always pretty busy, but I only waited 2 mins for a table. Staff are really passionate about their coffee. Had brunch with a friend. Food was good, coffe was good, price was good. No complaints at all.
M. M.
Walked all the way from Flinders street station for their coffee and it was well worth it. They had a variety of blends to choose from and the wait staff were all friendly. Gave a tip which is rare for me as im a tight arse but i enjoyed the experience. 😁
k. y.
Never fails to deliver on outstanding coffee and food.
N. B.
Freshly roasted coffee is the only type of coffee you'll get here. The smell when you enter the place is stunning - the caffeine is quite refreshing in the morning. I noticed that the staff are very nice and welcome everyone with a smile and friendly attitude.
G. B.
Super nice coffee/brunch place in Collingwood! It's quite small but we managed to get a table quickly. The Granola was really good!
E. M.
That juicy slice of bacon was almost something from the perfect world (or La La Land). The dish’s name is hash potato and it comes with 2 poached eggs too. The dressing has done its job which is to homogenize the perfect elementals of the dish. Thanks guys, for this dedication. (This review is much beyond answering questions such as would you come again or do you recommend us to friends. Actually, it’s a certificate and testimonial for such a perfect job). Oh, I forgot to talk about how wow my coffee was. Maybe next time!
Cheers,
Emad
C. M.
Takeaway coffee and breakfast bun were superb. Made an effort to come here on a road trip and well worth the effort. Sensational staff, impeccable service, lovely decor and great coffee. It deserves its place in the pantheon of Melbourne coffee institutions!
R. C.
Best brekky I've had in a while. Eggs cooked perfectly, on buttery toast. Added potato hash because I was hungry, and it was devine! Coffee (flat white) was exceptional; I had to have another cup. We also had a hot cake and the flavors were outstanding. Ginger, lemon, maple, butter... It just didn't end! So good. I will be back.
C. N. (.
Geisha is good but not more outstanding than other geisha I had at home, piccolo a little bit too bitter for me.
kitchen closes at 3pm which was a pity. Staff are cool boys and you can tell they are having lots of fun here. Would love to give it one more star if I would have a chance to try the brunch menu hah.
E. B.
Good coffee in Melbourne is not hard to find. However, good coffee AND amazing service is. Thankfully, Proud Mary delivers on both counts. Thanks heaps for the friendly chats and yummy coffees!
M. Y.
For great brunch food and coffee, this place easily sits at the top in this area. Proud Mary goes the extra mile by sourcing local ingredients and offering an unparalleled coffee experience, if you wish to dive down that rabbit hole.
PM is constantly filled with patrons but the staff are always on point and fluent at juggling all tasks. We were sat down, ordered and served our meals with such clockwork efficiency.
Not a single blemish to be found.
N. D.
Very good adress for a coffee or a dessert on the spot or to take away, very friendly staff and particularly nice place to stay at for a while to hand out or work. First time I came I ordered dumplings which weren't that good and way overpriced (5 dumplings for $14 if I remeber right...). But I came again because of a friend and was this time statisfied by a classic toast eggs and avocado. I would recommend.
J. R.
I have a regular breakfast catchup here once a fortnight and have not once been disappointed.
Great coffee, food is solid, and staff are super friendly and accommodating.
You will certainly see me here every Tuesday for a long time yet.
G. S.
Not your average coffee shop. Diverse and original food menu & excellent filter coffee. Staff are knowledgeable and genuinely friendly. Will definitely be coming back!
D. V.
Coffee was perfection, I haven't drank a milk coffee that wasn't strong in years. But the one I had here was amazing. Perfectly textured milk, subtle sweetness to the coffee. It brought a year to my eye. I'll definitely be back
r. 0.
What a find! Initially baulked slightly at $17 for salmon pate and it looked kind of small when it arrived. Then I tried it. BOOM instant new fave: it this dish was a record it would be my single of the week; instant hit! Worth every cent and I’ll be back for more. Bonuses: robust coffee, attentive service and actually very nice UNpretentious people. Give ‘em a go!
M. H.
Food that looks great and tastes great. Incredible drinks menu. And friendly service. A very busy inner city cafe with a buzz. Highly recommended.
Y. B.
Really happy with the quality and flavour.
Portion looks very small in the menu photos but the actual dish is a lot bigger 🙂

Might be a case of high expectations but just another typical Melbourne brunch cafe. Food is good but nothing super wow. Note parking is a bit of a pain either pay $4p/hr or move you car every hours. Also if you don't have the parking app thing parking machine only takes coins.
H.
Space is nice, know their coffee, but food is especially pricey and they make you wait for a seat with a server to encourage you to order food. The banana chocolate cake looks amazing but is super dry :(
E. L.
The coffee is amazing but the brunch is tiny and overpriced...
Wouldn’t recommend for meal here!
K. K.
Definitely my place to stop by and hang out before and after work. They had delicious coffee here that became a part of my morning routine every day and some foods you can eat up with during lunch or even dinner.
P. C.
Good menu choices, excellent coffee and great service even on a busy Easter Sunday. Not a fan of the communal seating but that's a personal thing. Best if you're going in a group rather than as a couple IMHO.
김.
Come and Joy. And You should try kim-chi(Korean traditional soul food) toast when visit here. Great combination Kim-chi(김치)with others. Even coriander is Thai! Also the coffee is so gorgeous and elegant.
M.
Ambiance: Chill and rustic.
Food: Excellent selection and delicious.
Coffee: Must try in Melbourne
Drinks: Loved the juices.
Tip: Ask for the daily specials cause it is worth a try!
B. B.
Awesome food. Awesome coffee (and I'm very fussy about both). And the red-haired girl made the whole experience just wonderful. Thank you Natalie - you really brightened up my day! :-)
S. G.
Amazing place, one of the best croissants i have ever tried in my life. Their bacon is next level. The staff and service is superb, please go to this place, it’s out of this world
M. B.
Pretty good coffee. Cafe was overrun with people, so it took a bit of tine to get my cup...but fair enough. Definitely feels like a local spot.
J. C.
Awesome food. Awesome coffee. Awesome service.
F. A.
The atmosphere is energetic and the music is curated accordingly. I had Javier Fernandez coffee and it was as citrusy and pleasant. Didn't eat anything so I can't comment on food. Although I would definitely attempt coming back again.
C. E.
Oh hell, what a great place this is. I had the potato hash with a side of (spanish) black pudding along with a coffee; both of which were absolutely delicious. It's in a great space but can get busy. Definitely worth the wait though.
J. K.
Coffee: Proud Mary
Flavour/strength - good
Temperature - just warm! 😬 the other 3 large flat whites, were a little bit warmer than the latte
When I did a barista course, we were told ideal temp was 60 to 70 deg - why is so hard for professional barista's to get it right?!
When I spoke to the lady who served us, her reply was, "thats how they serve it! " Then said , "if I want it hotter she would get me another one", I said that would be good, but didn't want it stewed.
Well it did come back hotter, not stewed, but close. 😏
Food: enjoyable, my stars are based on the food.
Hearty plate servings, interesting menu, though predominantly breakfast selection, smaller options for lunch. We did order 3 beef cheeks, which was on menu (we got there about 1pm) but they were just starting to cook them, and as they close around 4 they wouldn't be ready! Why have it on menu?
What we did have was nice. Girls next to us had amazing looking Pancakes .
We will give it another go.
D. H.
The meatloaf with pureed caramelized onions was heavenly. Great 80s music too, as the name suggests. Gets busy as it's quite popular so worth a check if you're visiting during brunch hours.
T. C.
Beautiful salmon pate and potato hash
Good range of single origin beans
Latte is equally delicious, nicely balanced.
Attentive service and good prices. Will return
l. w.
Great service. Nice coffee.🙂
G. A.
Definitely great coffee and lovely customer's relationship. Might be a bit busy.
l. k.
Fantastic food and coffee in a lovely old building. Service was fantastic and super friendly. Brought my mother in law here for brunch and she was very impressed :)
L. P.
Legit the best coffee in Melbourne 💪
T. R.
Great food, very bitter coffee
R. F.
I loved this place and taste of the coffee.. Perfect!
a. l.
Very good local cafe with outstanding service great coffee and food. Definitely worth visiting even if you’re not in the area, easy access on the 86 tram from the city just 4 stops out of the free tram zone.
A. “. G.
Proud Mary keep on burning! Haha. Set in the Fob and Gibson complex of warehouses, designed by William Pitt - I think around his typically exuberant boom period, these a little more restrained. He really could do it all.
Coffee not bad either. Had a large flat white here before I played D&D with some friends. Got cold a little quick for my pace. Had to microwave it. Oh well.
Thanks Roy
K. N.
Yum food. I ate the avo on toast with haloumi on the side! Devine. Coffee is great too! Staff friendly and professional. Really great cafe
D.
Coffee is always perfect - with friendly staff running the show. Busy each morning for a good reason!
J.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The happy and friendly staff really make the whole experience enjoyable.
The coffee and food were also great.
It was a great way to start the weekend.

Good brunch I will come here again
J. F.
The staff were lovely and friendly and the food...wow. we tried things not had before for breakfast. Just delicious and beautifully presented
L. W.
Popped in here for a coffee while visiting Melbourne and I have to say the coffee was mind blowing! The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and the vibe was very upbeat and positive. Great place! 😊
G. C.
Great coffee and breakfast! Came here a while ago and was very delighted. Would definitely recommend!
T. Y.
We had the best coffee. Bought the great green tip geisha coffee beans from their roastery. Service at their cafe was fab as well.
B. C.
Great coffee (mine even had a rabbit artfully drawn on it!), Good/interesting food. Cool crowd. Worth the trip from the north east burbs.
A. A.
I have one great experience, and one awful experience. I had an almond latte which was awful, burnt and tart. Would love more consistency between coffee experiences.
T. N.
Friendly and cosy atmosphere with open fire. Coffee was exceptional and poach pear ricotta hot cakes was to die for. Great place for brunch or dinner.
L. W.
Cool cafe and interesting brunch options. The rosti was amazing and the bacon..... YUM!!!! A little cramped but as it's popular they want to make sure they can host everyone.
E. S.
The food was amazing and the coffee was one of the best I've had.
P. W. T.
Superb coffee, superb food
T. L. G.
The best french toast, coconut kefir pudding, hash brown breakfast, and hotcakes we've ever had. Great coffee also.
R. H.
Proud Mary is on my must do list every time I visit Melbourne, and given the size of the queue's to get in on weekends it appears I'm not alone in this! Huge selection of coffee and brewing techniques along with a menu of delicious food makes it worth the wait.
k. h.
busy cafe, nice coffee and food with local ingredients
S. C.
Staff were sooo friendly and attentive, such a rare and refreshing experience. The pork and watermelon salad was AMAZING!! I will definitely be back to try more delights here. Highly recommended.
C. L.
My fave cafe in all of Melbourne! Amongst the numerous I've been to! Superb ambience, amazing food and great coffee. With super staff!
R. H.
Exceptional customer service, some of Melbourne's best coffee, and just a generally respectable company. Would strongly recommend.
T. T.
Love you guys! Thank you for making our day every time we come in. Every single staff member that we have had, have been incredible and super sweet.
Seriously out of control new menu! Can't wait to make our way through it (like the last 😜)

K.
Truly amazing coffee - these guys know their stuff and do not disappoint. Super easy and friendly service is a welcome bonus.
S. B.
Great coffee ☕, hot or cold brew. Changes frequently to remain relevant and staff are fabulous from the moment you enter the place. As a regular I'm greeted by name and with a smile.
B. N.
The choccy French toast is next level if you’re down for a sweet treat! Great coffee and the staff are really friendly, highly recommend!
J. N.
They’ve got specialty coffee
They roast they’re own and it was great seeing them have their cold drip coffee out in the communal dinning tables
Amazing service and has a very up great atmosphere
M. C.
Great coffee and great staff that are happy to explain the different coffee options to you if your undecided. Also nice little gluten free cakes and pastries.
L. M.
Some of the best coffee available in melbourne.
There's new bean varieties all the the time, if you get the chance grab some Brazil or Nicaragua they're both smooth and delicious.
A. W. C.
Had a very good hot chocolate here. Sat outside. Good atmosphere and the coffee looked good but by an afternoon in Melbourne I was coffee’d out.
W. H.
Delicious coffee and delicious food served with really friendly service. We've just moved in around the corner so this will definitely become a regular spot.
J. B.
Food was delicious, excellent hospitality from start to finish, loved the iced batch brew
R. P.
We came with a group of 9 and all enjoyed our coffee, meals and the service!
C. C.
Popular Collingwood cafe no longer “hidden” off Smith Street. Always packed at the weekend.
Come here to buy the Proud Mary coffee unless you have at least 40 mins.
P. N.
Superb Filter Pourover Coffee for today ~ tried their TopShelf $10/cup Panama Estribi (Geisha Honey). Awesome drop..
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Then the Brew-rista gave me a free sample of the El Salvador Noruega (Bourbon Natural), which was also great... Now to finish off with a last great Chemex cup of Brazil Sitio Serra (Yellow Catuai Natural).
Great brews, great coffee rosters and great service+atmosphere. 👍
A. F.
Amazing coffee. Great atmosphere. Cool baristas who know their stuff. Dishing out espresso shots like clockwork. Watch out for the six group Slayer!
M. S.
Their amazing breakfast menu leaves you puzzled but the friendly staff are more than happy to guide you through. Lovely space and great coffee make it an unforgettable experience.
S. L.
Great coffee, great food, good vibe !!
A. S.
Great Honduran batch when we visited. Had a range of meals between the four of us and none were disappointing. Service varied but ranged from good to excellent. Price is good.
N. H. (.
It's decent. Maybe overrated. I'd describe my coffee as good. But if you are into coffee you can likely make a good coffee at home...
A. S.
We had coffee and cake at this place. Coffee was absolutely perfect and the lemon cake was rich and tasty. Cool place with good service.
K. D.
Enjoyed the food although found it unnecessarily complex; the bagna cauda was out of place and did not improve dish. Acoustics make it very difficult to chat. Still liked it, despite these disappointments.
C. B.
Great coffee shop with lots of options. I also love the way they prepare the beans in front of you - the smell of fresh coffee in the morning is my favorite - it gives me the chills and wakes me up.
T. H.
Food was excellent and the atmosphere is great. No booking available so you just have to rock up and wait for a table. Took a bit long for our orders to arrive but the food was great so it's all good.
B. L.
Amazing coffee, but food are average. Will come again for sure
서.
Feel warm service. Taste amazing several kinds of cups of coffee in here. Proud mary will make you satisfied
G. F.
Nice coffee, nice atmosphere. I just Favourite'd this place for later to try the food.
D. L.
Gorgeous menu, super friendly staff and delicious coffee! Mostly shared tables so it helps that other patrons are lovely too
S. A.
In town on holiday. Went 2 times in 3 days. Excellent food and great atmosphere. Only negative is that the kitchen closes an hour before the restaurant does. I dont really understand that. Otherwise it was great
P. P.
Awesome coffee. Yummy monkey (banana cake) to die for, very friendly and quick service. Oh and blue eyes. Lovely.
S. D.
Food was pretty mediocre and the wait times were long. Staff were very friendly though
M. R.
One of the cool place for coffee .. very friendly staff. Food has a modern twist to it. Very industrial look in to the place with cool vibes to it .
Ambience 5/5
Coffee 5/5
Service 5/5
F. H.
Friendly staff. Good coffee but busy so can be a bit slow so don't be in a hurry. Coffee is worth the wait.
I. A.

D. C.
Amazing food! And lovely and very friendly staff! Would recommend to more of my mates and I will most likely come back again !
S. R.
Great food and friendly staff
J. L.
Some of the best coffee in town, both to drink and as take away beans. Can get very busy though, avoid first thing in the morning if you don't like to queue.
J. L.
They just changed menu today, some more smaller dishes to try. Food and coffee is great as usual. If I'm around, I'll definitely drop by!!
M. T.
Great coffee and great brekky. Consistent and some cool twists on classic breakfast fair and some other interesting food. Usually pretty busy.
P. N.
I haven't been here in quite a while, but they're still at the top of their game. Exceptional coffee, food & service.

P. S.
The lamb burger was amazing
R. W.
Great online range of beans, brewing gear and more. fast shipping as well
J. B.
The food and service was delicious. It would have been great to get more than 2 tiny pieces of bacon for the price.
L. C.
Probably the premienemit current roaster in Melbourne. PMC take great pride in their coffee and food. Go round the corner to Aunty Pegs if you want to getup close and personal with their operation.
