Love this place. Fresh ingredients, fabulous cakes in a convenient range of sizes. Red velvet cake and the lamington are amazing. Couple of vegan options. You can order online, or over phone or in person during business hours. Such a friendly, ambient place located in the industrial area of Heidelberg West, Melbourne. Can leave pooches outside and also eat outside. Luckily it's local to us, so we can enjoy the cafe. I don't drink coffee, so had a delicious vegan chai latte. Highly recommended Sweet by Nature cakes and cafe!

Oh. My. God. I had a Bugsy's Carrot Cake delivered on Christmas Eve for today's lunch and it is divine! Slatherings of cream cheese frosting, beautiful moist cake and being a carrot cake lover, I'm in heaven!! This was my first experience with Sweet by Nature and although I live on the other side of Melbourne, I think I've found "my" go to cake shop. Super yum!!

Always happy to come by and get some cakes, some coffee, and enjoy some company here. It's nestled in a fairly industrial area, but when you step inside it's like you've been transported to a coffee and cake store that wouldn't look out of place in the city or in South Melbourne. It's a beautiful little place doing a beautiful little business.

Found this place by pure coincidence and glad I did. They got everything. Food, drinks, cakes, soaps. EVERYTHING! The coffee was nice. Short version. Ordered Caramelicious Babycake, a beautiful, rich cake with balanced sweetness. Highly recommended. Long version. Ordered over the phone for next day pickup, easy ordering and could pick up next day between 10am & 4pm. I’ve cycled past this shop before but was surprised by a lovely, cosy shop interior with a wide assortment of sweets and cakes on display, savory items, coffee plus board games and toys for purchase. Picked up a Caramelicious Babycake and a pack of lemon slices. Both were well packed and pick up was a breeze, shop was a nice space to be in. Regret not ordering coffee since we are currently in COVID times so my coffee choices and times are quite limited. Big plus one for the cake packaging by the way. It’s easy to open and then close up again if you need to travel (this isn’t always the case). It’s also sturdy. The cake itself is beautiful with each layer showing clearly once cut and served. The mouse and sponge finger layers are delicate and not too sweet with the bottom cake layer and top layer bringing the sweet hit. Even the macaron is well done, crisp and light. Highly recommended. The lemon slices are great too. Tangy, rich and sweet. These are a long way from anything you’d get from your typical office catering which are often stodgy and lacking any fresh lemon zing at all. Also recommended. All in all this is a cool shop with quality cakes. I’ll return to try their coffee and other sweets for sure.

Great gluten free food, both sweet and savoury. Also take away and eat in. Surprisingly a vast array of reproduction vintage games is also available. Clean shop and quirky decor, plus an attractive display of cakes in a dedicated room adjacent to the counter. Order and pay at counter. Cakes are so delicious you'll want to take some with you.

Hidden gem in an industrial area! The cafe has a ‘seconds section’ which seems to be a huge hit because you can purchase baked goods that are broken or imperfect for super cheap! Cafe is well fitted out and welcoming

We absolutely loved sweet by nature, we ordered our wedding cake from them. It was exactly like the photo we sent them and were very easy to deal with. We were able to tailor our cake to our wedding theme, and enjoyed choosing our flavours from their wide selection. Our guests commented on the delicious cake and we would recommend to everyone! They make fantastic cakes, and respond quickly to all questions and needs.

The sweets are great but the lasagne was awful. Very dry and way too many lasagne sheets. Wedges weren't that great either. Service is kinda strange, you have to order at the counter and the vibe is a little daunting if you're not a regular.

Ordered the honeycomb caramel cake for my grandma's 80th birthday and wow it was absolutely amazing! The design was perfect and everyone said 'WOW' when it came out! Not only did it look amazing it also tasted amazing too! Extremely happy with the service at Sweet by Nature, lovely staff who guided us with our choices. To the incredible "angel" who personally delivered my Mums cake from Heidelburg to Rosebud on her day off, i can not begin to explain what your incredible kindness and compassion means to me and i will never never ever forget what you did. My Mum was so surprised and said you were so lovely to her but she was so shocked she cant remember what she said so thank you again. The most incredible selfless act i have ever encountered in my very long life. You are amazing and we will never forget you. Oh and the cake was absolutely delicious.

We ordered a Christening cake from Sweet By Nature. I must admit, they were the most expensive but were by far the most professional. The attention to detail on the cake was faultless and most importantly, the cake tasted beautiful! Forget cheap sponge cakes that others offer at a cheaper price, Sweet By Nature uses natural ingredients where you actually appreciate the taste. Wish I could give more stars but definitely a 5 from us!

Recently had two speciality themed birthday cakes made for joint children's birthdays. Just threw some ideas at Samantha & the results were amazing! Cakes are nice, we use them a fair bit for work functions. Considering this is in a industrial area the layout is good, comfortable enough. I would agree with some of the other comments about staff, they could be a bit friendlier but they are no where near as bad as some people's reviews state, not in my experience in over 10 years anyway.

The cakes made here are great, stay in and treat yourself to a coffee or get something to go. They even have older offerings or left over cuts put aside in the fridge at reduced prices if you don't mind things being less than 100% fresh. Definitely worth at least 1 visit if you are in the area

I love Sweet by Nature, it really is a hidden gem, and an extremely professional operation. The service is excellent, the food is good, and there's even a charming gift shop in the café. However I have some constructive criticism to offer. I haven't ordered special occasion cakes so can't comment on that. My comments relate only to the café which is part of this large catering business. Number one, as in too many Melbourne cafés, the music is way too loud. Two, in a city with a sophisticated and highly competitive coffee culture, Sweet by Nature's coffee is just okay - not bad, nothing special. Three, your delightful garden terrace can't be used much on windy days, as the umbrellas can't be secured safely according to staff. Four, the café food, like the coffee, is good, but not outstanding. I get the feeling that the chefs are just going through the motions, uninspired. So, all in all, a solid four stars, but I wish I could give you five.

Limited parking, but most people pick up cakes etc and leave so spaces are quickly vacated. Vety nice and clean. Good staff. U can phone to order cakes. Xlnt.

Love the place and the cakes however was very disappointed with customer service as I ordered a Honeycomb cake over the phone and not only the staff got my name wrong (which made it hard to pick up the cake since there was no order under my name which is literally there in the cake’s name!!!), they also misspelled the name on the birthday cake after I repeatedly clarified that it’s was T for TEASPOON, TREE,...! Not sure how that turned into a P!!! I was not offered a replacement happy birthday chocolate plate with the correct name even though it takes them 2 minutes to make another one!!!!

My family loves that you can but packets of "slices" which are the cut of pieces off of the larger cakes and slices. And also in the last display furthest from the door you can purchase packs of small cakes that are called seconds I think, but the are anything but seconds. Great for company coming over or a super special treat for the family.

Been a while since I was here. But it's a nifty little cafe lopped onto what I can only guess is a large scale sugary treat factory supplying places near and far. That which is on display certainly looks impressive. Update: the cafe has been updated a few times, with more seating, better access, great selection of trinkets, kids play area, and they're serving Prana chai now (not enough places serve loose leaf chai). They do great lunches and breakfast, really helpful kids packs that come in a little box with a gingerbread treat making it easy to bribe a visit, and easy to put leftovers in when leaving. All for very reasonable prices. The only (very minor) thing I'd change is: Bonsoy tatses better than Milklab, IMO.
