A hidden gem, that isn’t just a cliche being rolled out to be overly exotic, this place is actually hidden and an absolute gem. It’s been around since 1930, which explains the location as no modern day cafe would allow this location based on lack of foot traffic and other modern day business case rubbish that precludes this type of operation. The people serving are fantastic, the vibe is beautiful, coffee excellent and food is homely and clean. The locals obviously love it but keep the secret close to their chest, it’s worth the walk and just a skip over from the river walking trail.

Amazing food but even better service. Hard to say what is the best thing about this hidden gem. Dog friendly and super child friendly with a box of kiddie toys rolled out by the amazing French waitress who engaged all the kids and dog! Don’t forget the freshly baked doggie biscuits.

Very nice vibe and atmosphere, great place to hide from the bustle of South Yarra. Does not support a vegan diet, wouldn't come here to eat if that's what you're after. Expensive for small things, this toast with avocado and Vegemite was $13.20. Cost of ingredients is probably $3.20 so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Their filter coffee costs $5 but isn't worth that much in my coffee loving opinion. But if you're looking for a brunch that's not vegan away from traffic then I would recommend this spot.

I've been here quite a few times for takeaway coffee as I live nearby and the barista is absolutely fantastic. Popped in for breakfast the other day and the food was top-notch as well. Lovely atmosphere (definitely sit outside) and lovely staff too!

Visited this cozy cafe many years ago, went it again yesterday, had a cup and chatted with the staffs. The shop is a hidden gem in a quiet residential area, surrounded by brolocks of Spanish style buildings which were builded in 1930s' by Australian architector Howard Lawson. There is another building called Beverley Hills Apartment, not not far away in Darling Street, is Howard Lawson's work as well.

Had a lovely breakfast at Lawson this weekend. The food was really good, especially the chipotle scrambled. We were served by a very nice girl. Music volume and beat could be a little lower in the early morning. Will definitely come back!

Sh.....Really don't want more people know this place. It's small and beautiful. Comfort as my mum's home..... Coffee is very nice, food is delicious, fresh and always give me surprise. Staff are friendly and sometimes make cold jokes. I am so enjoy here. Real hidden gem.

A little cute cafe has its own personality. It is hard to find, not only it hides in apartments but also cosy home vibe. (As I feel Melbourne cafes goes more commercial now.) My friend told me this place and I fall in love with it when I walked in. Coffee is very smooth and tasty, I ordered green eggs, it is very delicious. The cafe impressed me a lot. Saw their weekend special and can't wait to try.

Oh how I miss Lawsons amazing eggs benny & coffee. Best hidden spot in our neighborhood. The sweet combination of jamon, artisan toast and that heavenly hollandaise would be a contender for Benny of the year award anywhere. Don’t tell your friends and let’s keep this gem to ourselves. (Edit due to new management) It was a hidden gem. Dog friendly and tucked away in Lawson Grove, this cafe is perfect for breakfast and also sells a selection of groceries. Standards have slid - not a lost cause but needs some attention.

The best chai latte (powdered but they also have leaves) I have ever had! Really friendly staff and in a relaxed location that then gives off a relaxed and welcoming vibe. I appreciate the layout, the fridge section that you can go up to and grab a coconut water etc for your table and just enjoy a different style of cafe.

One of the most hidden cafes I've seen in Melbourne so far. No frills or fuss, staff are amazingly friendly and spend time explaining to you what's on the menu with their personal recommendations. A place for the locals to get their coffee fix and an awesome brunch place.

Lots of character and charm tucked away from the bustle. Lovely al fresco patch out the front for the summer months, with the dimly lit but warm interior perfect for conversation and introspection when the weather turns. Good coffee. Better food. You would be attacked by a German Shepherd if you started reciting Jimmy Barnes lyrics here. You won't get served wearing a Bintang single either. The place has some minimum standards after all...
