My wife and I shared the grilled masala fish and the grilled tandoori fish last night and the flavours were nothing short of phenomenal. The portion size was generous too as you get two fillets with each serving. Service was friendly and welcoming so based on our experience I would highly recommend this place.

Fantastic service and food, all the fish is grilled which is a lighter healthier option that I really appreciate. Skilled barristas that brew an excellent coffee, which if you match with one of their home made cakes is absolutely awesome. I can highly recommend the home made Apple crumble, as pictured : ) If you haven't been here before, or it's been a while since you were last here, do you yourself a favour and pay them a visit soon , I can highly recommend the the entire menu.

This is the BEST Grilled fish and chips in Perth They also do Curries that my husband loves - Don't go anywhere else! I have to have Fodmap diet and easy to eat here Also they cater Gluten Free Curries that are Vegan - Yum!! 🤗

Another of Joondalup's hidden gems. Although the menu is limited the food here is excellent. We love it for a get together with family. I enjoy almost all of the flavours. The curries are "colonial based" Madras style and are delicious. The goulash is also delicious the meats are always tender. The fish dishes are also great, although I usually go with the curries. Staff are very friendly and are like family in that it has become a popular spot for us. I can certainly recommend Govenders for a cheap night out with delicious food. It's also great for a carry out and I have at times taken home a frozen curry and goulash.

I buy large chips and large curry sauce, it's awesome! The sauce isn't full on with curry, which I like, so if you like it strong, I suggest you ask them, I'm sure they'll accomodate you. The only curry sauce I've come across that I can't get enough of, delicious!!!

Tasty cuisine at extremely reasonable prices . This restaurant changed hands about two and a half years ago and the service and food seems to taste better on each return visit. Would thoroughly recommend Govenders, the curry's are full of flavour and there is always a selection of great desserts and treats. But what puts this restaurant above the others is the service from the husband and wife team and their staff. They make you feel most welcome and that's why I go back time and time again. It's definitely worth a visit... or two...or three!

I've had the Grilled Cod and Curry Combos here and they were amazing. The fish was of superb quality and perfectly done while the curry was a brilliant combination of sweet and savoury. Friendly owners and great food, makes you want to keep coming back for more.

Great find of quality food & coffee when going for dinner last night... My wife had the grilled Snapper with salad which was beautiful moist & flavoursome. She enjoyed also to have this much healthier option compared to the traditional greasy Fish & Chips. I had the Chicken & Vegetable/Pumpkin Curry which had just the right spiciness and loads of stunning authentic taste.... And another highlight was for us to finally find a place which offers scrumptious cakes (we had the Berry Cheesecake & Chocolate mudcake) and great Cappuccino and a real Espresso coffee! Also for the quality of the whole experience together with friendly service it was very good value for money. It was a secret hidden treasure to find for us since it is in the back streets of Joondalup, but we'll be back next week with some friends of ours...

Our family have enjoyed the unique South African Indian curries and Fish and chips at Govender's Gourmet since before the recent change in ownership. The new owners have retained the delicious curries but have since added many improvements to the menu. We are now regular customers for breakfast and lunch, (there is something for everyone from Grandma, my wife, myself and my adult children). My favourite breakfast is the big breakfast with three eggs, a choice of five sides and coffee for under $15?! Grandma assures me the waffles are the best she has tasted. The lunches for under $10 are also the best value – try the open curry pie! With an ex-cruise ship masterchef in the kitchen we have never had a meal that hasn't been delicious and hasn't impressed. The service is efficient, courteous, friendly and homely. A definite recommendation.

Absolutely outstanding food and service! I work down the road from Govenders so if I'm working, I'm there for lunch. The food is consistently fantastic, and they always welcome you with a Big smile. Their food is so fresh and cooked with love. My favourites would have to be the grilled fish and salad or the Chicken & Pumpkin Curry but they offer everything from fish and chips, hamburgers and chips amazing salads, lamb and chicken currys, cakes and of coarse my daily coffees, there is so much variety its sometimes hard to choose. Their portions are big and price is extremely reasonable compared to everywhere else in Perth. The Environment is very relaxing and I love their old school RnB Music. The Husband and Wife team that took over Govenders at the start of the year do an amazing job on their Food, Service and Presentation. Well done and keep it up :)

The sheer value of this neat little restaurant borders on the sensational. The new owners, an Austrian masterchef and his French Polynesian wife have added international dishes and style to the Indian fare of the original owner and expanded the service to a breakfast, lunch and dinner operation. Excellent food, generous serves, fine service, friendly proprietors and yesteryear prices.

Did an impromptu stop at this little spot of wonders. We chose Govenders over the other quite popular place on the same street, on account of it having spots outside that let us soak up the beautiful warm sunny winter morning (the other spot had an uninspiring outdoor area that was almost fully in the shade). BOY am I glad we gave it a go! We got such a lovely personal service with some old-school touches to instantly make you feel at home, such as them being very happy to whip me up a coffee and one of their nutella breke pancake things to pass the time while we decided what else we wanted for breakfast. When I offered to at least pay for that portion, she insisted that I sit outside and take my time and that I could pay for everything once I'd made my mind up. Look, that might not be a stand-out reason for some but to be treated with trust was definitely a tick in the box for me. As a result we ended up ordering two other items off the breakfast menu and felt that the portion size and quality gave excellent value for money. Truthfully, we could have ordered a half dozen of those nutella crispy pancakes of heaven (served with banana and strawberry slices at an awesome $4 a piece) and there's no doubting we will go back, just to order more of those. That said, the $7 triple which got my son buttered toast, a fried egg, some bacon and a pot of tea was the perfect accompaniment to the nutella dish of goodness. And my $14 scrambled eggs, bacon and mushies on toasted focaccia was a very generous serving and filled me right up. The bacon was a big hit with both of us too. The whole lot was crispy without being overcooked and we'd go back for that too. All up $32 for two brekes, the nutella gem, a coffee and a take away vanilla slice (because when he told me it was baked fresh this morning, who am I to say no). Kicking myself for having lived in the general area for a stupid amount of years without even realising this gem was here. We will be back Govenders and thanks for a brilliant start to our Friday morning!

Hi , I’ve been going to Governor’s Gourmet for sometime now. I had tried many of the dishes on the menu , all the fish , curry’s and steak. A favourite of mine is garlic and lemon grilled fish with beautiful freshly made Greek salad . Can’t say I’ve ever let feeling hungry lol . Always comes with a friendly smile , nice easy going relaxing atmosphere . I love this place , it’s a must visit . ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Oooh and sitting outside in the afternoon Cappuccino and cake 👍👍 perfect.
