This little cafe, right on the beach front has a beautifully kept grassed area all around the outskirts of the cafe & a scattering of picnic tables. There is plenty of free parking (although it does get busy as the day progresses). The cafe itself has a window for takeaway orders & an area within for dine in & is like a well oiled machine. A lovely selection on the menu that can tick all boxes & great coffee. Top spot, thanks guys, we'll be back 👍

Ordered croissant, got toasted sandwich. Had waited 15 minutes, so wasn't going to wait another 15 for my correct order, while my friend ate alone, then have her sat there while I ate. Iced coffee served in take away cup despite dining in, which was disappointing. Also they constantly yell out order names both by voice and over a speaker, which destroyed the ambience of the nice beach setting. In the end, the sandwich wasn't too bad.

Menu is extensive but nothing of specialty to note. Friend said the fish & chips have been nice in the past. We ordered fresh juices, and the choose-your-own blend was a great idea but a bit pricey at $9. Range of cookies, slices & cake but nothing in the way of DFGF which was unexpected for an established Freo venue. Recycling bins were overflowing in early afternoon, and no hurry to clean tables either. Nice location near the beach though.

5 out of 5 stars for what it is, which in my mind is a quaint little Cafe by the ocean. Food and coffee was good, bigger portions than typical Perth cafes of similar size, and they even offered extra items when I removed the mushroom (yes I am fussy don't judge me too much :)). They are also dog friendly which is awesome if you are a dog lover like me. If not, you may not enjoy it as much as I did (got to pat a few dogs :)).

If you are a beach lover, then this is the place for you! Literally a stones throw away from the beach, this Cafe is realllllly popular. It has a great selection of juices, smoothies, food snacks. Be warned, the parking can be terrible on the weekends and you may be going round in circles for a while!

Inattentive staff, plus whilst I was sitting , I had a staff come over to ask if I was finished, I handed him my plate, but commented I was still drinking my coffee, he then wiped my table down then walked away. He then came back and slammed his plastic container down on my table to collect plates from another table. I decided to leave then as I wasn’t feeling very welcome.

Love this spot, get place to take some shade and have a great coffee, ice cream, or some hot food before or after the beach. Lots of grassy chill area and shady trees too. Would be great if there wasn't a $10 minimum on eftpos but other than that, lovely cafe by the beach. Also has Wifi!

Below average fish and chips, average drink you would find in any average café and not worth the money ( obviously catering supplies) and staff that obviously do not want to be there and make sure that you know that. This cafe has such great potential and could be a great money spinner given a chance. Has great and beautiful location and a very busy location but food and drink and especially the staffs attitude needs to be improved greatly.

Excellent. Lovely surroundings, lots of grassy areas for picnics with a glimpse of the ocean. Well set out cafe with a good assortment of tables. Friendly staff, reasonable prices. Kudos to the young fellow clearing tables - he went about his work efficiently without interrupting patrons, making sure everything was done properly and checking all around to make sure all was in order - nice to see someone taking pride in their work ☺

Location - great, nice and close to the beach Food - average at best and overpriced but a good range for casual beachside dining. Staff - not rude but not particularly friendly either. Atmosphere - casual and rustic, just right for the beach. View - where? The ad promises sweeping ocean views but you must have to walk down the beach path for that - couldn't see the ocean from the Cafe (which seems to imply you enjoy the view while dining). Surroundings - nice big grassed area outside where kids can play - or you could take your food. Pet friendly - as mentioned by numerous other people.

My wife and I went to this cafe Thought was wonderful and the food was great, The only real problem and reason that we never gave it five stars is that in this cafe is one Lebanese man with a cap that never smiles who seems to think that it is OK to talk to the customers and especially the children like he was something that he scraped of the bottom of his shoes. He talked to our well behave grandson harshly saying that he could not stand near his grandmother in line to make space for other customers that was not even there. There were no other customers waiting and as our grandson is very little he was scared holding onto his nana"s leg. Everytime we come to this cafe we witnessed him always being very rude. But the rest of the staff are completely wonderful👏

This is a nice place to have lunch. The atmosphere is friendly and dogs are welcome. The food is of a good standard and the serves generous. They also do some funky drinks. The beetroot and ginger is surprisingly refreshing! The only down-to-earth is that you can't actually see the beach from the cafe (although the it's only about 50m away).

A convenient place to grab a bite to eat or a drink after a swim on South Beach. The owner uses a Tannoy system to call out peoples names when the cafe is busy which can be quite annoying, a bit like 'name bingo'.

Great dog friendly cafe. Enjoyed eggs Benedict with salmon and pancakes with berries. Able to reserve a table easily. Only downside were found the plastic chairs uncomfortable to sit in for any length of time. Maybe a ploy haha!

It's conveniently close to the beach and playground, offers toys and there's plenty of room for kids to play which makes it pretty good for parents with little ones. Though it could do with a renovation and the fish & chips and ice cream we've had there could definitely improve. I'd go there again if I went to the beach but only because of it's location.

Super relaxed place where to have food next to the beach. Not pretentious at all and food is good quality. They have icecreams (not common next to the beach) and you can park your bike just at the front. Plenty of parking. I really like this place. Staff is really nice and friendly with kids.

My first time at South Beach and I will definitely be back! Lovely service from staff and the chicken roll I ordered was absolutely delicious! I also had a hot chocolate which was the best hot chocolate I've had in a long time.

Good food. Great location. The cafe was busy, but they did a good job with processing our order quickly. The one problem I had was how they deliver your order. You order at the counter and instead of giving you a number and bringing your food to you, they just call out your name. This means that you have to wait near the counter to get your food. Those quite inconvenient as my wife and I were sitting outside around the corner from the till.

Nice concept of a place right by the beach. But far to many flies buzzing around that made me feel sick thinking of them in the kitchen. Quite expensive for what you get. Our scrambled eggs where not cooked. Literally were disgusting slop. We dined in and were given a throw away cup for coffee... you're right by the beach too... Also you must collect the food yourself then go in a different direction for cutlery and salts etc. Which you arent told about. We had to just follow what others were doing. They call your name on a loud speaker 3 times before you even have a chance to stand up which was just annoying listening to the whole time.

I always go her after a swim at the beach to grab some grub. All the food I have tried is lovely and there is also a large selection of drinks and icecreams. The place is slightly dirty though and after 4 they only sell drinks, icecreams and fried food which is annoying if you are looking for dinner.

Pricey beach-front option. Chips and wedges portions are quite large for the price, and the atmosphere, staff and location are all great. Price is the biggest turn off, especially for non-finger food options like breakfasts. There's hardly anything which can beat a Cafe at one of the beautiful beaches around Freo. South Beach Cafe is a community hub where locals and travellers meet. It grew over the years but still has the ambience of a quiet local spot. In the morning you'll meet people from the neighbourhood who go for their morning swim and a cuppa.
