Comments of Bourke Street Bakery Marrickville
c. p.
If you have read any of my other reviews, you will know that I am a fan of good pies and good coffee!
Whilst both are available at Bourke St Bakery (Marrickville), the main reason I come here is for the Lamb & Harissa Sausage rolls (pictured). The almond gives them a delicious crunch whilst the sweet currents backup the sweet sticky pastry on the base 5* everyday!!!
I have been to othe BSB locations and to be honest whilst the standard is generally pretty high, this is by far my preferred location.
M. S.
Bourke street bakery never disappoints, with their excellent bread, coffees and delicious sausage rolls. A huge bonus is that it’s on quiet street and you’ll almost always find a spot to sit outside, highly recommended
B. W.
Bourke Street bakery has the most amazing food and artisan breads that are delicious, I used to love their pies and breads but since being confirmed as coeliac I can't have anything from their menu except the most important thing in my gluten free diet...
COFFEE!!! Their coffee is next level goodness and the staff are super friendly and helpful. I've been to many Bourke Street bakeries across Sydney and their coffee is always amazeballs, every shop I've been too has been amazing coffee and service and no matter what time or day it is, still amazing coffee and service.
Do yourself a favour and go to Bourke Street bakery and get some coffee and you'll never see coffee the same again.
Thank you...
Cheers...
J. T.
Great bakery with a fantastic selection of sweet pastries and savoury pies and rolls.
The bread options are all well done and worth a try.
I highly recommend the chicken, potato and pea pie!
L. P.
Love it! Food and service was great
Only reason for not giving 5 stars is because most of the breakfast items were sold out and it was hard to pick in the end.
However the croissant with jam and ricotta was surprisingly great!
The tarts are always amazing my favourite is the ginger one, never disappointing.
A. M.
Super friendly staff not just when they are serving you but through the time I was there. Little one loved the babyccino and my piccolo also delicious
H. O.
A nice branch of the infamous Bourke Street Bakery. Situated on a quiet street off Victoria Road, most people take out bread or pastries but you can also sit down and enjoy any of their fine pastries or cakes with a cup of tea / coffee. Personally, I love their fig sourdough and all their sausage rolls. If you're in the area, well worth the visit.
S.
Best pastries in town! Especially the Ginger Creme Brulee and Almond Praline Croissant
A. H.
Tasty, yet lil suss on the pork sausage rolls , bit pink, been here nearly every day for 2 weeks and about 80% of the pork sausage rolls are pink
J. G.
Such a Good Aussie pie
I got the beef and veggie pie and of course you gotta have the tomato sauce
There was a good balance of gravy and chunky beef
DELISH

Not bad. Not hike worthy. I guess the best summary... It's a bakery, not a destination. Bourke Street Bakery I always thought presented itself as a bigger cafe, but that might be on my head.
I'm any case! It's a bakery that doesn't really do anything outrageously better than any other bakery. Prices are on point for their bread, if s little bougie.
However, massive dissatisfaction on the unAustralian practice of payment required for sauce for the hot pie. If I want a little dead horse with my pie, include it in the cost ;)
E. S.
Always fresh sourdough and lately I've been eating other baked goods and always a great hangout and great atmosphere, however the service is way too slow. It's ok for weekends but Monday to Friday they need to pick up the pace.
A. N.
Best sandwich ever we had and goes very well with hot chocolate. Great customer service. Owner was very polite to us.
A. N.
Such delicious smooth coffee and if you want a sweet twist then have a mocha which is so decadent and rich! My go-to will always be the pork and fennel sausage roll followed by the lamb sausage roll followed by .. basically ANYTHING and EVERYTHING! Everything is deliciously fresh, crisp and sells delectable. It's always hard to only choose a couple of things.
L. 1.
What are you gonna do? It’s a windy winter Sunday, you’ve finished the weekends chores... It’s Bourke St Bakery time. Great coffee and outstanding baked goods. The lamb & harissa roll is the best sausage roll I’ve ever had.
M.
Do yourself a favour and get a chunky beef pork and ginger creme brulee - you'll be coming back for more. They're THAT good!
L. N.
The Best Pastry, cake and bread. Accompany by good coffee. If I can, I will visit this place everyday.
S. F. C.
I usually buy bread at least once a week from this place, and never once have I come across one staff member in there that smiles or is friendly, and it's not like it's cheap, it's very transactional, and sometimes the staff are very demeaning.
J. W.
Hot day & came in for an ice coffee while waiting for some alterations. Lovely staff & great coffee, not much more to be said!
S. L.
Excellent pies as always. A bigger location than the Alexandria and Surry Hills spots, so a bit more comfortable to sit. Always very busy still though so be prepared to wait.
A.
Love the bread options here! As a vego that's lactose intolerant, I tried the vegan sausage roll and I cannot stress how bad it was, good thing the vegan pies make up for it. Overall solid 5/5 but the vegan sausage roll here needs a major rethink.
Y. I.
Parking can be fun, but for coffee and pastry it's tops 👍🏻
B. D.
Great baked goods and thanks for sensible Covid-safe policies keeping everyone healthy!
T. T. N.
Have had pies and sausage rolls from the Balmain branch previously and really loved them. This one hits the spot also. Friendly staff. I recommend the lamb and harrissa sausage roll. So yummy! Glad this is closer to my work at Kingsgrove :D
Keep up the great work!
A. a.
Lovely place, lovely service, great coffee and food, been there a couple of times and definitely going back there again... thank you guys :)
M. L.
Amazing food and great staff.
Pork and fennel sausage roll is top tier and gruyere quiche is fantastic.
W. H.
Bourke Street Bakery Marrickville is one of my favorite places. Always friendly service, great pies, sausage rolls and coffee. 5 stars!
M.
A wonderful bakery tucked away in the backstreets of Marrickville offering good coffee and a fresh selection of bread and pastries. Staff are great - friendly and helpful. Highly recommend the pies - spoiled for choice!
J. M.
The quality of baked goods at this cafe is second-to-none. They have excellent coffee. Their sandwiches are loaded with flavour and worth every penny. And the service is just great. My only complaint is that the toilet is in the warehouse at the back but it's really not enough to fault this place and it's well deserved of the five star rating.
R. L.
For the last 8 years I have enjoyed the almond sausage roll. Try it and you will agree that it is a taste sensation.
Also the mocha uses real chocolate .
And the pies are great and the bread and the lemon tart and ..... everything is nice.
A. L.
One of the larger Bourke Street bakerys with the usual menu items.
Be aware that at lunch, things as sell out quickly so go early. When I arrived there was just one veggie option left.
Personally, I prefer their sweets to savouries. The chocolate and raspberry muffins, and flourless chocolate cake in particular.
The quiche is a bit too oily and eggy for my liking, and the veggie sausage roll can err on the dry side but is still a good meat alternative.
Bread is also always a solid choice, and coffee good with bon soy.
S.
Service is great! Just the almond croissants would have been tastier if were more crunchy and flaky. Love the almond flan.
L. C.
Knowledgeable staff, great selection and reasonably priced. Amazing flavour in the rosemary and potato loaf!
L. B.
I really loved the fennell/pork sausage roll but the much hyped lemon curd tart was not very enjoyable, neither was the bacon and potato pie. My girlfriend found the same as me. I'll go back next time I'm in Sydney to try some different things, but would highly recommend the sausage rolls!
D. K.
A local bakery favourite, all items baked onsite including artisan bread loaves and sticks, gourmet pies and sausage rolls, tarts and rolls. My favorite is the pork and fennel sausage roll. They also make great coffee.
N. M.
This is the best sourdough you can get - and it's really good value too. The cakes, muffins and pies are also a big hit with my family. I like the option of ordering online and skipping the weekend morning queue.
p. L.
The pork and fennel sausage rolls are soft, fluffy and scrumptious, the best ones I've ever had. And gone are the days where I have to travel to the Oatley pie shop because the pies here are among some of the best I've had as well. Would highly recommend Bourke Street Bakery to anyone who wants a no fuss Aussie classic.
G. S.
Good bread and good pies, what's not to like
R. W.
This is my first time visiting BSB here and it's relaxed, coffee was very good, the 'crosstie' was strange but enjoyable. Staff behind the counter were wearing masks and were friendly.
L.
Really nice place. I’ll get chance to buy couple of breads. It looks crispy and delicious. I’ve been here, looking for a simple croissant and I bought two. I can’t wait to go back.
The staff was sooooo nice in the way they welcome customers. And I felt in love whit the smiling girl who served me. I think she’s Australian...I don’t know, I spent too much time concentrate on how beautiful and smiling she was.
Just in case she can read this, I’m the guy with fake blonde air 🤣 will you marry me?🤣 lol. If you say no, at least I got the best croissants in the area ❤️
M. L.
Beautiful quiet space for breakfast. Croissants, ginger crème brulee and lemon tarts were delightful.
J. R.
I ordered a beer pie. Hit the spot! And coffee was on par. Staff left a lot to be desired. eg. telling us that they had ran out of sausage rolls. But excluding the fact that there would be more ready in 10 minutes. And as we were dining in, the wait wouldn't have been a problem.
Y. l. d. 妈.
Ok cafe place to me, the croissants are good here but the pies are very ordinary. If you are a bread person you may love this place more as they do good sourdough. The coffee sometime good, sometimes very weak...... So overall I rate this place 3/5 😁
L. W.
The lady that served us today was just lovely. The bread is top notch. Beef brisket pie is yummy. Couldn’t resist the lemon curd tart. Will definitely go again and again.
M. C.
Excellent pastries, baked goods and breads and great coffee and home made drinks selection. I dream about the pork and fennel sausage roll its that good! Highly recommended if you are near this or one of their other outlets.
A. W. G.
The croissants and tarts are excellent as always. The pies and sausage rolls are not bad as well. Highly recommended to pastry lovers and anyone who enjoys a good cup of coffee with some lovely pastries.
S. R. M.
The pear danish I had was a mixed between a normal Daniele and a Portuguese tart so much better then normal and the chicken pie wasn't just the standard chicken and frozen vegetables Mornay sauce which while can be done well this was a welcome change. Only complaint would be size of iced coffee choice only being 300ml though priced to match.
S. W.
Chicken sandwich is great, sausage rolls and quiches. 5 year old asks to go here for breakfast every second Saturday. Easy 5 min break while he shakes the chocolate milk to get the chocolate off the bottom.
i. h. l. V.
Despite a limit of 3 people currently in store, because of CoVID, BSB still manages to knock out some of the best pies in Sydney. Marrickville tries to make sure they get customers served quickly, so the line wait is as short as possible.
A. C.
Super tasty bread, treats and coffee. Although I had the brisket pie last week and was way too chewy with fat. Chewy in a meat pie is not a good mix, especially having to pull fatty bits out.
T. T.
Watermelon cake is the best thing ever!
A. B.
A weekly hangout! Awesome coffee and chocolate milk. Sausage rolls are our favourites, but also ham and cheese croissants. Tarts excellent too - chocolate and raspberry highly recommended by the boys. Busy, though service always good.
M.
Delicious pies, sausage rolls and bakery items. Make sure you try the lamb, harissa and almond sausage roll. It's amazing. Coffee is excellent. Plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor. #theamazingplate
Y. S.
Always good food at these bakeries. Staff could be better in terms of hospitality - but all Bourke st bakeries I go too have this issue. Go look at the reviews for the Newtown one. The staff there are so horrible I don't go any more and I know many others who feel the same. More staff moral? Or hire people that know how to treat customers properly? I'm not sure. But something's not right in the management of these places.
A. G.
I love the ginger brûlée tarts, pork and fennel sausage rolls and quality pies. On the downside they are often slow with coffee service and croissants are decent but sometimes a dry and generally overpriced for what it is.
J. D.
Real Sourdough and good quality bread, pastries and cakes, especially the pies. Croissants, not french but good. The staff are hopeless though. Last time we went, our food came out, then 5 minutes later my partners coffee came. we had finished our food before my tea arrived and then I had to go in to get milk. OS students, they just dont care and are slack. No apologies or any concern. The serving staff (not all) are a disservice to this company
J.
Hands down the best vegan pie and "sausage " roll in town . Great service at this Marrickville store. 👍
J. M.
Served with a lovely smile every Sunday by Adriana :-) Yummy chickpea rolls and vegie pies :P
m. g.
Amazing coffee and great service from the staff. Definitely recommend their almond croissants and their amazing pork sausage rolls!
H. D.
Great food, great service. The chicken sandwich is great toasted, and so is the wagyu beef. The dark choc blueberry muffins are to die for
J. C.
If you are like me and have heard so much about the Bourke St Bakery, but have never tried it, you need to!!
Popped in to their Marrickville store, (located just off Victoria Rd) and grabbed a panini, delicious does not describe it!! Light, tasty, not chewy and certainly no floury after taste, bread is their speciality (as the name implies)
There were plenty of people mid Sunday morning enjoying pastries and pies and that is my next adventure!!
Why 4 stars? The prices are more than anywhere else I have tried...but if you keep it small and simple an affordable indulgence!!
k. d.
Excellent cakes in a nice, surprisingly big, seating area. Cool to be able to watch the bakers at work through the windows and conveniently located just opposite Sauce Brewing as well
S. &. S.
I just love stopping in after breakfast to pick up beautiful bread and insane pastries. Their cheesecake is the freaking bomb along with the ginger creme brulee
A. S.
Great little arm of the bourke st bakery empire. Nice friendly staff and top qualiyy pastries and sandwiches. The only real downside is the complete lack of parking. Totally recommend it, i even cater our work meetings from here regularly and everyone likes their pastries
B. M.
Really good bacon & egg rolls and sausage rolls. Good coffee too. Well worth stopping by to try.
東.
I had good coffee, thank you very much :)
M. C.
I go there once on a blue moon, but every time the coffee is good, and the pies are good and fresh. Despite the huge competition I have to say these guys are very consistent!
C. F.
Had the sausage rolls (all 3 types available). Must say, not a fan. The bread looked good. Has a good industrial factory feel.
J.
I have to say that the quality of the food in this store seems a little different to what I am used to from Bourke Street Bakery. I tried their pork and fennel sausage roll but it seemed to have too much fennel, making the flavour quite aniseedy.
c.
Good pies and snag rolls can be devoured here.. You do pay for the brand though.
L. C.
Amazing!! Food and service was great.
Will be returning to try other menu items.
A. T.
Two of the best sausage rolls and one of the best pies I've ever had in my life, plus an amazing coffee, these guys are on point. Quick service too
S. Z.
Spartan design, effecient service but good coffee and excellent food at very reasonable prices. The sausage rolls are delicous, the ginger brulee tart worth the trip there.
C. C.
Friendly and efficient service with premium baked goods and pies/rolls and good coffee :)
J. C.
Recipe for coping with jet-lag. Long early morning walk down to the BSB in Marrickville then a coffee and a praline and almond croissant. Set me up for the day. Then I had their bread the next day. Equally good. No wonder it's a legend.
s. m.
Best pork and fennel sausage rolls. Ginger creme brulee tart incredible. Staff lovely. No parking.
M. B.
Great food without the crowds of the original store in Bourke Street. I was told that the pies for all the Bourke Street Bakery shops are made in this store, so well worth trying. The pie I had was delicious
M. T.
Such tasty food; a humble feed. Love their delicious baked goods! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu! They have kept me happy for years.
S. K.
Beef pie is soggy than surry hills branch. Coffee is ok
K. R.
Sausage rolls, and pies are So good, flavours are Perfect, pastry is to die for, flaky and buttery- OMG this place is the bomb!!
A. M.
This place has so many good options. My favourites are the ginger brulee, lemon tart, rhubarb danish, muffins and the sausage rolls. Great coffee too!
K. M.
Absolutely superb! The Chocolate tart is easily one of the best if not the best in Sydney!
d. s.
do NOT eat the leek croastie, it has too much oil! i felt queSy from it but they have quite nice pies actually
J. S.
Great bread with a lovely team. Very happy customer 😁
D. H.
Pies and pastries were excellent quality and flavor. Menu options are varied selection and priced well. Staff is friendly and atmosphere is chilled.
a. t.
Good selection of pies and sausage rolls. Also has a lot of choices in pastries and cakes my personal favourite are the ginger brulee tart and carrot cake
C. H.
Best croissants in Sydney! Coffee is on point always.
D. L.
Delicious coffee and bacon&egg roll. price is cheap. You can also see Cute latte art when you order latte.
J. P.
This bakery of course, is to die for. If you haven’t been to a Bourke St Bakery yet, you must! The ginger brûlée tart is one of a kind.
J. H.
We had the pork and fennel sausage roll and it was great. Coffee was up to standard as well.
K. L.
Great cafe that is open late on weekends (a rarity)! Love that they have an open 'kitchen' design so you can watch the bakers at work!
M. Y. N.
The best coffee ever and such friendly staff. Makes my day each morning I go to get breakfast. Coffee and a tub of museli and yogurt with poached fruit... My two indulgences.
M. S.
Great food! Good service will definitely go back for a sossy roll!
J. S.
Good coffee and delicious pastries on offer here.
W. S.
Breads and pastries. This place stands out for these. A different locale but same standards. Very homey environment even though it sits in an industrial area.
T. D.
The food, coffee and hot chocolate here are always great. I'm a big fan of the sausage rolls and pies.
J. J.
Friendly place, lots of space. Lacks healthy vegetarian options, but good fresh bread and decent coffee..
P. N.
Very good coffee, a surprisingly narrow selection of baked offerings considering its reputation.
S. S.
Fab bread, delicious (strong) coffee, friendly staff, not crazily busy on mid-morning Saturday. I like this place a lot.
G. M.
Best meat pies in Sydney, delicious coffe and fantastic products! Definitely reccomended cafè
W. N.
Great coffee, service, and epic pies and sausage rolls. Seriously one of the best sauage rolls ever!

C. L.
Friendly staff, must try the pies and lamb sausage roll!

Made a perfect day, thx.
T. A.
The pork and fennel sausage rolls are amazing!! Huge must for visitors
