First time visit to this Bakery Cafe and is one of the best in the Chippendale area. I just seen some reviews and thought of giving a try. I had Almond Croissant, Toasted Croissant with Cheddar Marjoram and Tomatoes. Best part of the Turmeric Latte which is my best ever I had in my life. Must visit Cafe in Chippendale.
J. Q.
One of the best bakeries in Sydney, serving up fresh baked goods every morning. Their hot cross bun was quite nice, very fresh and full of flavour. Service is always very friendly and warm
Highly recommend their mushroom melt sandwich
E. T.
Small and cosy bakery at Chippendale. We ordered takeaway an Almond Croissant (delicious however slightly burnt), Chocolate Croissant (wish it had more chocolate) and Chocolate cake with Kaya (moist and not too sweet which is great). Was going to order a coffee but they don't serve almond milk. Overall ok.
I. H.
Great coffee, but this place is all about the pastries. I haven’t tried them all yet, but I’m getting there. The Berry Danish can be a little dense sometimes, but that’s the only blemish so far. You can also buy baking flour and their fresh bread is great too!
B. S. G.
Cozy bakery with a great atmosphere, plenty of seating space inside and outside. Pastries were amazing, drinks were also very nice. the staff were also very hospitable and caring. One of the best bakeries in Sydney.
C. K.
Small but everything is there. Coffee was good and pastry was satisfying. There was a little bit of waiting but services was nice. Staff recommended the sandwiches but I just wanted to have something simple. Apparently sandwiches are amazingly good. I will try next time.
R. T.
Not sure if I am just spoiled with excellent bread, but the loaf I just bought here tastes about 3 or 4 days old. Still much better than Woolies sourdough though, so seems like the best thing in the area.
J.
The place is cosy and coffee is decent. Staff were also friendly but not really impressed with their sourdough. I feel like it could’ve been better if it were more toasted. Nice experience though.
L. M.
My favourite soughdough-lovely flavour and texture, crust is nicely chewy without being the type that cuts your mouth once toasted...speaking of which, makes delicious toasties! But delicious just to eat on its own or with good butter. Yummy treats including the biggest pieces of this chocl and salted caramel layered cake for $8 (feeds 2 easily..or 1!!). Staff are lovely. Good coffee by Mecca. Free parking in side streets on either side of Cleveland.
O. G.
Loved this placed. Croissants were great (more buttery would make them even better), coffee is very good. Staff was friendly and sourdough is a must have for the week. The special scone was veeeeery good too
J. C.
Great coffee and chocolate coconut cake, croissant is good but can be better. No dinning inside at the moment but there are few benches outside you can sit and chill on.
A. C.
Lovely little corner cafe that does delicious plates off the menu. Coffee was great too. There's a lovely display full of cakes and pastry.
We got a croissant and small seeded baguette to go but didnt live up to expectations which was a shame as lunch was so good. But definitely do drop by for their lunch.
Limited seating indoors but they do have a couple of bench tables outside. Staff were lovely too.
A. L.
Great Mecca coffee and a super range of bread and pastries. Tried their almond croissant as part of a mission to try Sydney's famed favourites. This one is a lovely unique cinnamon style.
Also bought a spelt and honey loaf, which was fantastic.
W. T.
Great cafe with good coffee, pastries, bread and cakes. Their sourdough is amazing. And, their service is top notch too.
A. W.
Super delicious food and baked goods. Milk coffee was ok but the filter was nice. Really enjoyed the atmosphere, gets quite busy so be prepared to wait.
A. T.
Original - 5/5 - A classic. The staff sold it though. Couldn’t have been more helpful and pleasant.
Latest 3/5 - Review reduced following latest visit. For a place so well known for bread, the toast was really disappointing. It was so dry (over crunchy). Unfortunately probably won’t head back again.
C. M.
They have delicious turmeric latte, chai tea, vegan and gluten free sweet options. The sesame cookie was gluten free, with coconut shreds and like sesame taste. It is a little too sweet for me (I prefer very low sweet content)During covid times, customers lined up one at a time to go in. I always see this place has many people waiting for their order. 5 to 8mins wait for a latte.
P. L.
Cute bakery with delicious snacks! Personal favourite are the black seseme balls and white lamington, but you can't go wrong with anything here!
Also works well as a take-away brunch place if you're looking for sandwiches and coffee, the beef brisket sandwich is highly recommended.
B. C.
Had avocado toast with lemon and a cup of mocha! My friend recommend this place to me and I am happy that I came!
The sourdough toast was so good...it just satisfying 💛 also the mocha is very rich in chocolate...I love it!
The decor is cool as well. High ceiling with an industrial touch..I also love the chairs near the window, it shows they give attention to details😁
R. H.
One of the best croissant and pastry shop in Sydney. Very busy in the morning and it is quite a testament on how good their products are. Love it!
H. K.
Everything was delicious but I’d say the white choc & passionfruit lamington was a standout!
F. F.
Best bread in town, recommend if you want sourdough bread. Beautiful galleries on the vicinity too, so a great place to start the day.
S. L.
A really cool café. It was packed when I went on a Sunday afternoon. The highlight must be the bread, both the sourdough and the baguette I tried were fresh, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The fillings inside the bread is full of flavour and goes really good with the bread. The portions are huge and it justifies the $15 price for a samdwich. The coffee is great too which makes this a very fulfilling brunch. Will come back again to try the cakes which looks amazing.
J. D.
Great little cafe with delicious fresh baked goods and an extensive menu. Staff are very friendly and the baristas can make some awesome coffee! The dishes we had were flavoursome and well presented, will definitely be back for more. Keep up the great work guys and girls.
D. M.
Overall, this place is great with an awesome selection of pastries and baked goods. Please don't get over creative though because the carrot sandwich does definitely not hit the spot, especially compared to the mouth watering, loin tingling bacon sandwich.
J. J.
The best croissant I've ever had in Sydney. Service is friendly but quick, and coffee is quite good especially if you're into the stronger blends like me. I look forward to coming back to get some of their 1kg sourdough loaves!
L.
Great bakery, busy and croissant is sometimes sold out even lunch time. I loved the quiche in good terrace seats.
D. A.
A very trendy and charming Cafe and Bakery which specialises in fresh melts and breads. The Cafe has seating inside and out and the coffee was on point. The staff were friendly and courteous and the aesthetics are rustic and inviting for a good catchup with friends. It's not the kind of place you could park yourself for hours for, and the position of the café means you'd get a draft wind from the side streets but this is one you'd definitely visit for the Melts and toasties.
P. E.
One of the best bakeries in NSW, I had hot cross buns from them last year, they were delicious
N. L.
Coffee is fantastic. We ordered “Roast Chicken Sandwich” and “A little of everything”, taste good!
J. L.
Went to have lunch on a friend’s recommendation. It was a beautiful winters day, sat outside on one of the benches and had a cheesy mushroom sandwich, it was very good. I hear the custard tarts are very good but they didn’t have any left.
D. H.
Best. Croissant. Ever.
Best. Looking. Long. Black. Ever.
Can’t wait to come back to try the toasties and pastries.
Croissant was served warm, with a perfect crisp. Super buttery and beautiful layers of pastry. 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
M. Y. T.
Lovely place with indoor and outdoor seating. Sandwiches there were great - had the bacon and pork belly ones, as was the coffee. Probably not the most baby friendly for indoor seating (they don't have baby chairs and it's high tables) but otherwise, a wonderful shop run well.
s. r.
Literally my favourite bakery ever! I don't know how anyone can complain about the quality of their product - their sandwiches are to die for and all other baked good that I've had are exceptional!
Comparatively, the prices are a bit steep but it's also the best sandwich I've ever had so worth every penny!
M. C.
Great fresh almond croissants, with a hint of cinnamon. The coffee is from Single Origin Roasters, which is always a delight. Ben and Josh have a great thing going here.
M. C.
Really huge portions of fresh, tasty food. All at a very reasonable price too. Not just great to sit in and enjoy but also great takeaway for the pastries and bread.
C. R.
I must say I absolutely love their almond croissants. My biggest disappointment is they seem to be no longer making their baguette. It would have to be the tastest bread I have ever had. I can't change to any other loaf as I absolutely detest sour dough.:( I do hope guys that you will rethink no longer having the baguette and start making it again.
L. S.
These are definitely my go to treats at Brickfields...
O. R.
Decent coffee and generally very good pastries. Does get really busy and service tries its best to keep up by being quick yet staying friendly and efficient. Orders have gotten confused or forgotten a couple times during our visit.
R. d. C.
The quiche was done just perfectly and the accompanying salad was also tasty. I’d love to go back to try the mushroom and truffle mayo sandwich next time.
D. M.
Best coffee in the neighbourhood. Try their Macadamia Cappuccino! Breads and deserts also really good, my favorite being the almond tart (Frangipane).
J. M.
I've re discovered Brick fields,it's sooo yummy as most delights savory/ sweet are made on premises mmmmmmm!!!
I. F.
Speed here for breakfast and I settled for the Bacon Roll.
OMG! This has to be, hands down, the best sandwich I have ever had.
I will definitely be back to get another, worth the 2 hour drive.
T. J.
They serve freshly baked bread daily! Great capuccinos, croissants, and fruit pastries.
M. M.
Good service and great coffee. Fabulous gruyere cheese and mushroom melt.
M. S.
Had a scone and chai tea here yesterday for morning tea and I brought a rye loaf to take home. The bread fresh and there are so many options! I will be back.
N. L.
Had a great time on a Sunday morning. Was welcomed and greeted by almost every staff in the shop which was a nice beginning to the day. Coffee was great, food was straight forward and tasty good. Love the music they play in this vintage looking house, nice atmosphere.
L.
Paid this place a visit as we heard the pastries were great. Pastry-wise, they were actually delicious. We tried their quiche and almond croissant. In terms of coffee and other hot beverages, we think there is room for improvement. Being a chai latte lover, this place did not deliver. It tasted more water than chai spice. The cappuccino was also pretty average. Nothing special. We will come back for the pastries but not for the coffee.
A. E.
Excellent food and coffee. I love this place.
S.
Slight disappointed with the white sourdough bread, was there early in the morning shortly after 7am it was good to see all breads were ready but there were no smell of bread or warmness in the shop nor bread….
I normally buy Sonoma sourdough but it is great to try others and heard all the top review on this shop as the best sourdough in Sydney. Their Sourdough did taste great after toasted. However not so great without toasted, a bit like my homemade artisan bread. In comparison the Sonoma sourdoughs have great crust and soft centre texture even untoasted when fresh, also slightly sourer when toasted. However Brickfields do have slightly denser texture also seem to be taste rather freshing light when toasted. Today I only bought the normal small white sourdough, baguettes, plain croissant cost AU15.5.
B. B.
In a quest to find the best sourdough in Sydney (just a regular plain bread) we tried Brickfields. Sorry to report it was nothing special. The crust was dry and chewy, and the texture of the bread inside was too crumbly. Just average. Hot cross buns a little better.
D.
Nice spot - coffee was bland, too milky, disappointingly only in take away cups with lids, even though we were drinking there, no recycling bins for cardboard used to serve sandwiches. Bread was nice, mushroom toastie was ok - needed some tomato or more evenly spread pickles, as was very cheesy. Make staff member was very friendly.
K. T. E.
Amazing food, fantastic coffee, a niche corner and courteous staff. Will be visiting this place again.
D. P.
I had the Mushroom toastie and just blew my mind. The jalapenos are just an extra touch! Coffee was great!
L. R.
Got a few pastry for breakfast, honestly they were so hard I thought they maybe have been several days old, kinds disappointing compared to he hype, coffee was good tho.
L. Y.
The food has been great so far for the times I've been here. Only downside is that it is sometimes a bit too oily. Also, there's not much seating around..
j. a. l. (.
Lovely shop, filled with people inside and out, only a quick visit to try some of their popular bread rolls, great service and friendly atmosphere,.
M. H.
Lovely hidden cafe, great bakeries.
L. T.
The almond croissant was ok, the coffee is amazing !!
D. P.
Brickfields is a bit of an hit and miss, sometimes food is great, sometimes not. I do not understand why they change their side salads all the time, they should just stick to one type: last time I ordered quiche with salad, salad was greens & zucchini, before they had sweet potatoes and even before that corn... On top of that, price is too steep. 6-7 dollars for a small pastry? no thanks!
T. R.
Coffee and cakes here are delicious 😋
We had Lemon Tart, Almond Croissant and Plum Tart (which was still warm from the oven)
It as great to see the goods being baked right there infront of your your eyes
h. (.
Favourite bakery till date. From coffee to different types of bread and pastries 🤙🍞🥖
A. C.
Great coffee and an awesome selection of pastries made in-house. The baristas are always really friendly. Our favourite place for a Sunday coffee and ham & provolone croissant.
L. B.
Brickfields USED to have the best, crispiest almond croissants but the one I had today was soggy and limp :( I was so disappointed as I’ve been looking forward to coming back after some time to have the almond croissant! The berry danish was also soggy unfortunately, but the filling was yummy!
C.
This is a small cafe that makes amazing bread and pastries. I recommend their croissants and if you have a sweet tooth their almond croissant. The menu is vegetarian friendly with plenty you choose from. Their coffee is also excellent, service is fast and friendly.
There can be a line sometimes so account for a bit if a wait to get your takeaway is a table during busy times.
They also have a good range if sourdough and other loafs of bread.
Y. S.
If I can.....would like to come here every day for a coffee! Try the bacon and pickled cabbage roll if not on diet🤤
D.
The BEST almond croissant in Sydney and yes, I’ve tried them all. The rest of the brunch menu is very good; highly recommend the brisket sandwich.
M. P.
Very very very tasty baked goods - the mixed berry danish and the potato and leek quiche were particularly incredible, as were the croissants. Only gave four stars as the wait time on takeaway coffees was a little much considering they weren’t busy, and the customer service didn’t seem to have any haste.
R. L.
This is one of my favorite bakeries in Sydney. They make great bread and the assortment and quality of their pastries is outstanding. The make great coffee here too.
I generally find that it's easy to stop in and pick something up if I'm in the area as there is usually some street parking available near by.
Z. M.
Service was a bit to cold, it's almost if your not a regular your not given the royal treatment. Was pretty poor to see that the favourites where skipping Queues and getting served before 4/5 customers. I'm all for a bit of local recognition of course, but it wasn't followed up with friendly service for the newbie like myself so seemed just a touch jaded in delivery... Apart from that that, the breakfast menu wasn't exactly kick starting my Sunday, but the croissant I ended up have was good. Only reason I would return is for a coffee as my amazing night hairdresser's is around the corner!
A. D.
Great little spot. Good coffee, delicious baked good (croissants are a must), and wonderful small cooked breakfasts. Nice setting at the end of the cul-de-sac and not too noisy given the proximity to a major road.
Update (August 1019): Lost a star due to imposing a 10% surcharge on Sunday. It's not like my food tastes 10% better. Just seems unnecessary and annoying.
w. x.
One of the best bakeries in the chippendale area. If you are after good quality sourdough, you found the perfect place. They also have yummy treats and croissants and great coffee. Seating is lacking so you might have to buy and go. I tried their sandwiches and coffee the other day and they are both fantastic, especially loved the coffee, top notch.
C. R.
Awesome bacon sandwich! The bread roll is amazing, with very tasty bacon, cheese and a creamy sauce with kale (I'm usually not a big fan of kale). I added an egg. Good coffee and excellent pastries and sourdough. Can't wait to go back.
F. N.
Awesome coffee and great bakery, friendly staff
J. S.
A pleasant suprise.
We got recommenedr this place after we failed another restaurant due to being closed. However it was just a delight.
Coffee was almost on point. However still good.
Food was the star 🌟. Had an amazing glazed baked pumpkin sandwich. Full flavour, enjoyed every mouth full. The brisket was also another hit. Baked eggplant🍆 was oily but tasty with the bread. My friend had the quiche which he also recommended.
Shop was funky clean and well presented. Love this place would definitely recommend to anyone in the area .
H. B.
Felt very warm and inviting, service was awesome. Felt like I was just sitting in a friend's kitchen, it was great. Coffee was amazing and the food was also wicked. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more of their baked goods 😊😊😊
S. F. L.
Known for their baked goods, this is a cafe that’s a must visit for anyone that’s a fan of good sourdough bread and classic croissants.
The croissants feature the signature honeycomb of layers that you look for in a well risen French pastry.
I tried the mushroom and cheese toasty on the signature brickfields sourdough, as far as toasted sandwiches go, it was one incredible tasty one.
V. X.
Fantastic bakery! I love when things are baked in-house because you can smell the glorious baked goods wafting out from the kitchen. This cafe doesn't a offer a lot of seating but it doesn't stop people from coming. Their pastries, cakes and sandwiches are real good with my favourite being their bacon and kale sandwich and the frangipane tart.
S. W.
Amazing coffee, breads and sweet pastries here. The seeded ciabatta is possibly the best roll you can get in Sydney. The sandwiches made here are also good but can be a bit oily.
Seating at the cafe itself can be a bit tricky and you may end up sharing benches outside with people but it's still a great place for a coffee.
C. F.
Amazing coffee and even better bakery. Try the almond croissant it's delicious! Only problem is its too small!! Staff friendly and always lots of dogs outside to pet
V. O.
Good coffee, pastries look amazing. Disappointed by my food. Baked muesli with sheep’s yoghurt- no where near enough yoghurt, I had to ask for more milk so that I could finish it as didn’t want to eat dry muesli. The girl looked unimpressed when I asked. Also far too sweet, honey not needed with such sweet granola.
T. W.
You won't find the usual cafe items on the menu here, but there are plenty of baked goods and sweet treats on offer. Seating is limited, especially with the amount of people walk through the doors, good timing meant we were lucky enough to score a table outside and got to enjoy our treats in the sun. The Persian Love Cake was moist and just sweet enough to make it great with coffee. The Grape and Fennel Seed Crostata had ridiculous good crusty pastry. The sandwiches looked tempting but since I already had lunch they'll have to wait for my next visit.
M.
Always been one of my fave bakeries in Sydney! Bit pricey and limited food options on their menu but it's definitely worth paying for! Loved their sourdough, fresh pastries (must try their Persian love cake and white chocolate lamington) and of course, their friendly service 😊
U. P.
Great Product and coffee was tops! WIll be going back more often. :)
K. S.
Tasty food and drinks. Despite being a specialty pastry place, I still think that the display stuff is awfully overpriced.
S.
Great coffee! I remember the bread is one of the best in Sydney. However, since being diagnosed coeliac I haven't been able to eat there - no GF bread and limited GF meal options. It would be great if they could order in some Nonie's GF to cater for those with allergies.
T. D.
Huge portions for very little $$$
Yes that's right, very little dollar dollar dollar for your much need breakfast. What a refreshing sight to see a place as generous as this actually turning a profit. Friendly, unpretentious staff (a real rarity in these kinds of places). However, lines can be long and unless you're in a group of +4 people, you will probably be sitting shoulder to shoulder with strangers. Those are the only downsides though.
L. L.
their sourdough is amazing, but the guys are arrogant disinterested and a total turn off. They should probably look for another gig! The girls, thankfully, are lovely. Incredible sweets and very very good coffee. Overlook the attitude and enjoy the flavours.
J. B.
Best coffee i've had in a very long time. This is my usual morning coffee spot. The sandwiches are also great! Keen to try a sit down breakfast soon and the baked goods are amazing. Also, the staff are some of the friendliest in Sydney.
D. N.
Split the bacon/manchego/kale sandwich and a hot cross bun. Loved it. Great build out, nice outdoor seating and an interesting little part of a neighborhood. Very relaxed and great coffee. A few other friends sampled some other options from the menu and were equally pleased.
T. B.
Ordered home delivery on their website - three hours later it arrived. Tried again today, 2 hours later no food...
Update: have been into the store - great friendly service and of course amazing bread.
M. H.
Coffee was served too hot, my partners rhubarb danish was soft instead of crispy. My ham and cheese croissant was great but only gets 3 stars overall due to the other faults.
C. L.
A cafe made for your tastebuds, not your instagram feed. Everything is so thoughtfully made and absolutely delicious. Even the turmeric latte was made with fresh turmeric juice, not chalky powder. This is what quality is.
A. W.
Best bacon toastie i have ever eaten, can't stop thinking about it. Terrific coffee, bread, cakes and lovely service.
M.
This place is petty cool with friendly service, it is traditional bakery which I love about, with a touch of trendy Asian fusion everywhere on the menu. After trying twice, personally I still prefer those classic ones. So far the almond croissant is quite unique, which comes closed to my favorite ones such as: Victoire, Miam. Their famous croissant comes second comparing to Victories’ or Labancz.
Somehow, the sesame cookie didn’t impress me with strong coconut overtook sesame it is a bit too dense, hard and sweet. The mushroom melt sandwich is not bad, which reminds me croque monsieur but not quite yet. The best of all is the custard date tart, frangipane tart. They are truely devine! Possibly the best I've tried so far and even better than Lorraine’s. Sourdough bread is chewy yummy which explains the crush of crowds. Thank you for nice food and service!
m. p.
The best pastries but one of the worst coffee, even that I still rate 4 star for the pastries. The place is talk of the twon at this moment and improvement on their coffee is a must to accomplish the overall experience for the customers. I also like their breakfast especially the sandwich with red cabbage, beetroot and pork.
E. B.
Such a tiny little place with not much seating at all. The great food and interesting flavour combinations makes up for it though. Breakfast board definitely a hit.
They also make their own soda here, but nothing special. Stick to the coffee :)
C. C.
Amazing pastries and service , would highly recommend the Turkish stuffed eggplant
G. C.
Brickfields is a great place to go for breakfast or brunch. Their coffee is excellent and their range of sweet and savory foods are varied and delicious, but unfortunately not exactly cheap. Their indoor seating is a little cramped but their outdoor seats are great in good weather. They'll also serve you on the benches across the way. Be careful though, they don't have a bathroom and will direct you to the white rabbit gallery down the street. Their breads also come highly recommended.
R. W.
Want awesome coffee? Want a stellar pastry and cake mix? Want lovely staff that blend so well with their customers? Then this is your joint :) Hidden / not hidden in Chippendale, its the go to for local culture!
H. G.
This place is great. I work around the corner and I often pop in for a beautiful loaf of bread to take home, a sandwich for lunch or a quick breakfast before work. The portions are huge and the food is really delish and exciting- not your usual breaky or lunch. Plus the staff have always been delightful!
K. I.
Sandy and I had the most delicious & original salads. Coffee was excellent, bread amazing and great service from Caity. Very comfortable, relaxed, casual atmosphere.
L. C.
Coffee was good. Dropped a star because the pastries were cold. Location was very nice
C. H.
A bit expensive - but quite worth it. I suggest trying the pork belly sandwich - you will take ages to finish it because it is very dense and tasty. The coffee is great, they use the mecca bean and the atmosphere is great - a lot of good music is playing and you can smell fresh bread. Plenty of light and air. They do some really great breads too - I really recommend their Ciabatta. Also you should order a jug of their sparkling drinks like lemon and mint - it's $5 and you can split it between two.
A. D.
I always find it a plus when a bakery has decent coffee. It's like they're doing something above and beyond their call of duty.
Took a while to get our food though and we ordered a donut with our coffee and breakfast and the lady forgot to give it to us and we had to ask.
The food I had though tastes delicious and I would highly recommend to try this place.
H. D.
Best bacon sandwich I've ever had. Loved the coconut and sesame cookie. Great coffee. Recommended.
S. O.
Fantastic baked goods. My wife also loves their earl grey jam, so we were pleased to find that they sell it in jars. Can be pretty packed, so consider what time you're going, or maybe grabbing something for takeaway.
C. C.
Good place to go for coffee and nice breakfast.
H. D.
Great customer service. Food is unique and delicious. Cakes & breads are delicious. They should consider branching out to the Illawarra region. Bring Brickfields to Shell Cove 😁
c. b.
Very nice coffee
J. B. W.
5/10 almond croissant don’t @ me
A. N.
Sitting on a corner of a street meeting a busy highway, stepping into Brickfields was very much an alice in wonderland moment, filled with the smell that every bakery should have. It was an ambient experience, with the mild tones of conversation in a cosy setting. I had the fig/walnut toast which was a little tough for my liking but the flavours of the cream were there, with a dash of freshness from the berries. Would recommend for anyone looking for a soothing start to the week, for catch up with friends or planning your next adventure.
J. P. P.
Absolutely amazed by this place (and I eat out a lot). Service was immaculate (attentive, water refills, suggestions on menu, not pushy to drive sales or to clear our table when we were done). Food is as good as you will find for breakfast or lunch. Pastries are awesome. Well done guys!
P. L.
Great coffee. #1 croissant in area. Great sourdough breads. Re: occasional non-crispy croissants, chatted with staff, is humidity in summer.
E. C.
Great little bakery and cafe which specialise in artisan methods with the finest ingredients to produce exceptional breads, cakes and pastries. I always pick up a danish or any fruit inspired pastry they may have and a coffee. The cafe also offers a daily menu comprised of ingredients that are sourced locally. Great place to have breakfast/brunch on the outskirts of the CBD.
G. A.
We found the stall the first time at Flemington Markets on a Saturday and I have to say the ciabatta loaf and baguette were the best I’ve had in a very long time maybe years and the croissants were crispy and delicious. Highly recommend!!
M. W.
Good food and friendly staff.
b. w.
service was scattery. food came 30 minutes later but salvaged by the fact that it was quite good. inconsistent pricing (same coffee is $0.50 more) when we ordered another - and no eftpos. Cakes are quite nice. I can see myself coming back.
a. p.
Great bakery, good coffe, great breakfast options. Unfortunately the location is not the best given the traffic on Cleveland st... But still! Some of the best sandwiches in Sydney!
C. P.
Great sandwiches on amazing bread. Decent coffee too. Gets a bit busy though and there aren't a lot of tables. Excellent service makes up for it.
L. D.
Love this cafe. Everything is delicious and such a great little spot. The poached pear with ricotta on toast is super.
K. W.
Needless to say the food was delicious and beautifully plated. The staff went out of their way to be generous and thoughtful. Very much appreciate this cafe, their staff and their coffee!

House made flavoured sodas, delicious sandwiches and sweet treats like Persian love cake and the cutest custard tarts. The tiny interior is cosy and offers limited seating. The walls are lined with shelves from top to bottom full of jars and tins, hanging plants for greenery and a mound of sacks are piled up under the counter. This cafe/bakery is a perfect spot for great coffee, tasty sourdough and gorgeous pastries.
E. S.
This is a cute small (you likely won't be able to get more than 6 people in a group) Cafe that has a relatively small menu. Typical prices for a brunch place (~$17) for my flat white and cheese mushroom toastie.
E. v. d. L.
This is a very hip and happening place. The pros are that the breads are delicious, the coffee is good and there is a nice atmosphere. The cons are that it's fairly pricey and I've never been given the correct change.
G. M.
Was great but baguette quality has fallen and prices have gone up. Slow service and cramped. Delicious sandwiches but expensive cakes. Prices becoming an issue as quality no longer justifies it and bread consistency varies too much between batches.
E. N. K.
My favourite bakery, it's ruined me for all other bread... . It's crunchy and has the perfect amount of sourdough chewiness. Their coffee is great as well.
M. B.
These are definitely my go to treats at Brickfields!
R. L.
Most delicious ricotta and honey toast, yum!
D. Z.
Food was great coffee was too. Great breakfast place.
M. H.
I went for coffee and a danish with my 2 year old daughter. Coffee was superb and the blueberry danish was excellent. We were met by attentive staff who got us seated and organised.
D. D.
Beat the longer queues at Bourke St Bakery by visiting Brickfields! Well, it is a busy place but the coffee is good and the cakes are better! Lemon polenta cake is light and fragrant. Persian love cake is exotic and aromatic. Lemon curd tart is that, tart! Choc hazelnut tart is more creme than ganache, simply lush. Fig sourdough with marmalade has the zing about it. We were content dessert gluttons after our visit and will return for sure!
A. M.
Long wait time and definitely on the expensive side, however all aspects of this cafe are outstanding - Great coffee, great bakery items, and a great food menu and possibly some of the best sandwiches in Sydney.
A. P.
Unfortunately scratched off my regular visit list. Coffee always feels half full; bread rolls go hard as a rock if you don't eat them that day; and staff has never been that friendly or has acknowledged regulars.
R. W.
Best coffee near uSyd and such tasty bread. I had the fig and walnut toast - comes with a very generous serving of ricotta and honey. Perfect breakky!
L. Y. P.
Good food and coffee .Attentive staff .The beef brisket is amazing!
J. C.
Wonderful bread & pasties and lovely cafe. Their spelt and honey loaf is delicious. I'm not a big fan of their coffee, but it's not bad.
A.
Staff seemed to rush us when ordering and clearing our plates and were generally not very friendly. Pastries and bread were nice but the service brought the rating down
G. J.
Great portions, fresh and tasty food, can get frustrating sitting on top of people when super busy but it’s small thing.
Staff super nice, attentive and nothing seems too much trouble.
Gets very busy later in the morning but worth the wait I say!
E. M.
Beautiful sourdough loaves, awesome flaky pastries and delicious coffee. Couldn't recommend this place more highly
T. E.
Service here is exceptional and food is on point! Been here a few times now and staff are really friendly, don't believe the reviews saying otherwise. Highly recommend the bacon sandwich!
J. M.
The best local bakery! Good coffee, great sweet treat and plenty savouries to choose from. Definitely go for the mushroom, gruyère and jalapeno toastie.
A. W.
I can die in peace knowing I have had Brickfields' bacon, kale and manchego truffled sandwich. There is no sandwich better than this on the planet (probably galaxy, possibly universe). I have had it more than 50 times and hope to live long enough to have it a 10,000 times more. That said, I just want to clarify that I am more than happy to die now. The dopey hipsters on staff are more unusual than my little toenail and I love them deeply for who they are. All of them deserve medals or at the very least gold stars.
F. Z.
The almond croissant was good. Fruit Danish was soggy and average.
The fifteen minute wait for a burnt tasting long black was disappointing.
S. S.
My favorite bread shop. I get fresh tastier sourdough breads here. Soylinseed is my fav.
But now missing this shop after moving to new work place.
Still, i walk 30 mins to buy this bread.... love u soy linseed 😗😗😗
B. P.
Impeccable service and the best mushroom and cheese toastie I've ever had. Partner's coffee was bang on too. Best place we've been in Sydney so far.
H. Q.
Great, as always.
Love the breads, pastries and my fave soy chai latte
S. F.
Great service. Love this place. I stop by at least once a week. Great coffee. Great pastry. Awesome staff.
J. L.
Love this place. The bacon sandwich is inspired.
B. D.
Good selection of baked goods but breakfast menu is limited. Service and coffee were ordinary. Nice bakery more than a cafe!
L.
Coffee is excellent and the sandwiches and bread are amazing. If only there was more seating available!
D. F.
The space is a lot smaller than a thought it was. Sandwiches are ok. Pricing on the more expensive side. Decent lunch spot if your in the area. But wouldn't go out of my way to go here.
V. S.
I recently stopped in at brickfields for a coffee and for a bite.. whilst having heard so much about the bread variety, i was disappointed to find the food menu to be limited.. the saving grace was a lemon ricotta donut on display.. it was perfect and enough to make me want to come back for more.
D. V.
Tasty fresh bread
M. E.
Fantastic bread! Really, really nice. Very limited but great menu so be prepared for that. Cool combos of flavour though on the sandwiches.
D. B.
Love this place, great staff, great food.
Can’t go past the bacon sandwich or the cauliflower croissant.
Always a must when in Sydney.
A. S.
Amazing bakery!! These guys supply bread to all the local cafes! Bread is out of this world in quality I couldn't buy bread from anywhere else!! Very limited seating outside and limited street parking
D. P.
Great local bakery. Good bread and better pastries and cakes. Cute, but limited, seating. Luckily there are a few parks around
I. S.
Staff is so nice!!! Very polite and helpfull. Food was perfect
S.
A penchant for cabbage and other interesting greens, delish sweet treeats. They have a lot of unusual and yummy food here. 100% recommend.
s. 1.
We need more local bakeries like this!
P. B.
The website is pretty impressive however I was disappointed with the set-up. No inside eating and benches outside with no tables on busy Cleveland Street, noisy
K. T.
I feel like it's a bit overpriced now. I used to love going here but it's become a bit to cool. Lovely food and bread but there are alternatives now.
C. C.
Great coffee and juices. Try to get a seat in the window. Can get hot inside. Not the best croissants.
D. S.
Best bread in SYDNEY!!!!! G there is a queue around the block but it's totally worth it! Best bakery in NSW! Highly recommended!
C. T.
I was at this restaurant with my old friend and we had enjoyed our Cheesy mushroom sandwich, that was really well cooked and gratifying, we were totally satisfied with their food and services, I would like visit again and recommend,..!!!
M. M.
Great bakery, amazing bread, decent coffee, ok seating. The sourdough is one of the best in Sydney.
A. K.
Don't know what I'll do with myself if I ever move and am not a five minute walk away from Sydney's best almond croissant... can't fault this place.
F.
Bread here is 5 stars and the food is also great it just needs a slightly wider menu choice to make it the perfect regular breakfast spot.
J.
Really lovely place, the staff are always friendly and the coffee is on point and reasonably priced. Try the batch brew. Best coffee in Chippendale.
G. C.
Lovely coffee, delicious bacon and brisket sandwich, lunch rush slowed down service so this took about 40 minutes but the wait staff were unfailingly polite.
e. c.
Well, the bread is good & the baker has great customer service. I have not experienced that with the other staff so much.
T. R.
Awesome sandwiches. Normally do a good vegetarian one. The bread and pastries/treats are also top notch.
M. S.
Fabulous fresh bread and good coffee.
P. U.
Was nice enough. Went with one of their reputable sandwiches but probably should have gone with full mains instead which looked a little more inspired.
J.
Croissant + marmalade... Awesome. Great (Mecca) coffee, too. Just wish they had more seating capacity.
J. B.
Some of the best bread in a Sydney. Lunch is excellent but you will have to be lucky to get a seat.
D. R.
The coffee is the best reason to come here, well made. Pastries and bread yum, not so much the food on the menu.
R. S.
Here at Brickfields the menu is simple but excellent, They are Artisans. With a capital A. You wouldn't find better Artisan bread in Portlandia. Or Marrickville maybe. Go to Brickfields.
o.
Great coffee and tea, innovative sandwich choices on their excellent bread, nice pastries.
z. e.
I love the vibe there. The freshly baked bread is amazing and the food is great....prices are not too high...
A. A.
Berry Danish was delicious and perfectly paired with my cappuccino 😍
K.
Great for a coffee and a bite.
K. C.
One of my favorite bakeries! Perfect place to drop by for some baked goodies or stay for some since satisfying brunch.
N. F.
Best croissants I have ever had. Haven't had anything else but the cookies, which were fantastic too.
B. B.
Great space, great coffee, and the best baked goods around. Seriously one of the best cafes in Sydney.
S. R.
No visit to Chippendale is complete without a visit to Brick fields. A bacon sarnie, long black and Persian love cake my standard (particularly if hungover)
Y. S.
The croissants and pain au chocolat are very yummy, flaky and buttery as it should be... Good coffee and bread too...
R.
Great food at a central location. Parking is pretty easy too. Service was a bit rushed and curt, guess they were busy
E. z.
Friendly staff, good coffee.
E. A.
Good coffee. Delicious baked goods - especially the croissants and fig tarts. Reasonably priced.
B. R.
Great place for breaky or Brunch on the weekend. Yummy food offerings and the coffee is good.

C. S.
Excellent juices (possibly the best in Sydney) amazing bread and friendly service. love this place.
C. T.
Hipster food, hipster prices. You get the idea!
R. D.
Food was excellent. Got some take away treats which were also great.
T. G.
Came here based on Google recommendations for best croissants.... quite average to be honest
G. G.
Having pretty standard tastes in breakfast and meals, this place was really hard to find something to order as it's all artisan and trying a bit too hard with it's recipes.
M. P.
Please support this business, it's small but cosy. During these tough times, the staff have been wonderful and upbeat.
A. F.
Always busy when we're there. Service and food both great. Nice outside seating.
R. S.
Friendly staff, cabinet food looks and tastes amazing. Great brunch spot😊
A. G.

B. K.

R. M.
Their coffee is decent and their breakfast was delicious. Small but worth a drop in.
A. P.
Love the chicken sandwich and honey malt milk. Ask for the sandwich on sourdough - soooo nice!
F. H.
Ham cheese croissant and long black!!!
And they have several good ptions for breakfast and lunch as well.
Go for it!!!
S. M.
Had the green bean plate for breakfast and it could have probably had only 1/3 of the olive oil they “drizzled” on my plate.
P. H. (.
Ambiance is really good but a bit crowded. recommend the croissants but the rosemary bakery was really greasy.
T. H. L.
I found this cafe on the way to my practice. I love the location, the vintage look & absolutely fantastic coffee & sandwiches <3
