Very charming bohemian coffee shop where you can buy your own freshly roasted coffee beans on site as well as enjoying a cupa of the house blend or a choice of different origins, coffee is excellent! Must try the Spanish omelette!

This coffee shop is truly a must-visit gem in Sydney! Stepping into this painting-clad space transports you to another world, a charming Spanish one where cafes are open till 1 or 2am! The coffee is great and so is the service. This is the perfect place to come, drink, enjoy and have a chat. No wifi at all, which is quite nice too! I’ll definitely be coming back in the evening!

Cafe Hernandez is an institution. The coffee is freshly roasted in house in an artisan machine. The place to buy coffee beans to take home and to have a coffee inside and enjoy the wall-to-ceiling work of arts.

As of Nov 1st, 2019 this place is open continuously from Friday mornings at 6am until Midnight Sunday. Because of the way Google posts opening times (anything after midnight is considered the following day) it looks like it closes on Friday at midnight. This is not the case. It’s open all night Friday, i.e. in the wee hours of Saturday morning, and all night Saturday night (i.e. in the wee hour of Sunday morning) Now for my review: this place an institution in the Sydney coffee scene. As the place that never sleeps you used to be able to come here any time of the day or night for a coffee. Recently their all-night hours have changed (I imagine due to lockout laws), but there are still a couple of nights (Fri/Sat) that they don’t close, so it’s still THE place for nocturnal artists, insomniacs and urban shift workers.

Forget all the hipster cafes. This is the real deal. Awesome coffee beans and half the price of the Surry Hill cafes. Roasted in the café. Open 24 hours too. A must visit cafe.

This place is very good. It has good drinks and very nice staff. You can pick from a wide range of coffee beans that they will bag and sell to you at the counter. There is a bathroom in the back that isn't too bad, ESPECIALLY for a shop of that size.

I've been buying coffee beans from Cafe Hernandez for over 15 years. Great variety of coffees, from Africa, Central and South America, even from Papua New Guinea. This place is great for eating in as well and is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. What more could you want? Love the place and love the staff and management!!!!! Keep on the good work!!

A 24 hour coffee shop - that is awesome! The staff are always friendly, and the coffee tastes great! The 'generic' food is a bit meh (lasagne tasted pretty basic, and they forgot the salad)... Though I haven't tried their Spanish cuisine.. Still, the place makes up for it with great character! Excellent shop - I would visit again any time (literally).

Of course, the most important thing you look for at a coffee shop is the quality of the coffee - and that's where Hernandez is definitely one of Sydney's best (along with, possibly, Campo's). Always count on them for a good cup, just like the original Hernandez in King's Cross. A great place to stop by every morning on your way to Sydney Uni if you live in Glebe or you're taking the bus in from Central Station.

Love this place but what is it with the Laptop Lady in the window every freaking day? Sits on one bottle of water in one of the prime tables for three hours, seven days a week, while people are being turned away when there are no seats. Saw her once with a friend who brought her food in a Tupperware container. This is why I could never run a cafe - I would have bounced her down the hill by now.

Part of the local furniture; purveyors of high quality coffee roasted on site; doing all of it since way before it was de rigueur; favourite of cabbies; always open. If you want to take away for making coffee at home, I recommend a 50/50 mixture of Nicaragua Gold and Kenya Pearl.

Excellent Mocha! Not watery not milky not too choco. Perfect taste of what should be called a Mocha! The price is higher than many other places though. And they charge a bit more on sundays for holiday service. Barista friendly and skillful. Oh and they have an ensuited bathroom.

I’m always looking for a great night cafe and, unbelievably, this one is open 24 hours. It also has one of the cosiest, European atmospheres I’ve encountered in an Australian cafe. And they do a tasty tortilla!
