Tucked away inside the building at 189 Kent Street and a part of 189 Cafe is Mochi Donuts offering donuts that have a slight chewy texture like mochi, but also the airy dough texture of a donut. These are then served plain or else coated (generally on the top half) with an icing flavour. Special flavours can vary on the day, and you can choose your own combination multi packs that are cheaper per donut. Compared to the smooth and chewy texture of a proper mochi I can't say this truly satisfied my mochi craving, but if you are thinking about this more from the donut angle then this is quite a special and unique offering. Staff are friendly and nice to deal with and, in addition to picking up the donuts in-store, they also offer delivery.

Came across Mochi Donuts during the lockdown when I was searching for something sweet for my team. I placed my order online for in-store pick-up. The CBD store is hidden inside an office building near Miller Point, the staff were friendly and pick-up was seamless. The Mochi Donuts are baked freshly daily and the flavours change on weekly basis. We enjoyed the original glazed and plain donuts the most, they were fluffy and slighly chewy unlike the traditional doughnuts. The glazed donuts are colourful and great for photos. Perfect for gifting as well as own consumption.

I ordered donuts with high expectation. The texture of the donut was nice but the taste was not so good as I could taste bad palm oil all over my mouth. Maybe they can change the oil.

Amazing donuts and even better staff. Went to the extra mile to ensure we could get our order in a COVID safe way after being stuck in isolation. Highly recommend this great business and cannot thank the whole team enough!

Super yummy mochi donuts. It’s not super sweet so you wouldn’t get sick half way eating it and I totally love it. The flavours change daily I believe but my favourite is the plain donut.

Love this donut, especially when it’s fresh because the texture was chewy yet so light and fluffy. Had a chance to try their glazed donut and matcha donut. Like both flavors, nit too sweet and price was reasonable $4 each or $22 for 6 pieces assorted.

These donuts are as authentic as you can get. I was in Japan January 2020 and had mochi donuts every 2nd day. I was hooked to say the least. These donuts are the real deal. I love the flavours and once you eat one, you can’t stop. Will definitely be a regular.

I ordered a 12 pack to share with housemates. The delivery time was great as we received it at 10am. We were so confused about what came in the 12 pack; we thought maybe it was 6 mochi donuts and 6 regular donuts. We found the donuts in the boxes were inconsistent in texture. Half of them were firm and the other half were soft and chewy. The donuts that were soft and chewy were incredible but the other half felt like they were normal donuts which had been sitting out too long.

Absolutely amazing mochi donuts! The staff are super friendly and the donuts are delicious reminds me of the donuts from Japan (Mister Donuts). I will definitely go back! Highly recommended.

Place was hard as hell to find... I was expecting a nice lil cafe style shop wid some coffee to to wid my 🍩... Instead it's this lil shop called Cafe 189 moonlighting as a Mochi Donuts store inside the building of 189 on Kent St... Anyway the doughnuts themselves weren't bad!

Girlfriend absolutely loved it!! Very bouncy and chewy and just yummy to eat! If you’re looking for the shop, you gotta walk in the office building and you’ll see the sign just inside the doors. Unfortunately the building itself is a bit gloomy but that’s why the donuts and shop owners are there to brighten things up! ありがとうございました！　本当においしい~ 🍩 がんばれ！

Great little business, hard to find though, walked up and down mutiple times before we walked away, thankfully we went back and looked inside and found them tucked into a corner. The doughnut dough was great (soft and chewy) but toppings on the day not my personal taste BUT dont let that disuade you from trying them.👍 My kids liked them. I would reccomend to others. 4/5 'I Like It'

DELICIOUS! That’s all i can say, these mochi donuts were absolutely amazing - and I got them very late in the day!! Even after all that time the donuts were light and fluffy! The woman selling them to me was so nice too, HIGHLY RECOMMEND visiting this gem!

Incredible doughnuts. What an experience! My mouth is tingling. These are something else! I highly highly recommend. Doughnuts get a base level of 5 stars in my heart but these ones deserve 10 stars. I still don't even know what happened to me. Wowee. Staff are amazing too, very kind and personable. Please do yourself a favour and savour the flavour.

Texture is perfect and they are really well priced! So worth it. Ordered a couple times on Uber Eats and they’re great every time. My favourites are the glaze and cinnamon but they’ve got rotating flavours each week to try :)
