Great location and lovely courtyard, the staff were friendly and service was reasonably quick. I enjoyed my iced latte though it was quite small. The egg and bacon roll was acceptable, the egg itself was well cooked and the bacon good quality, overall though it was quite dry and the bread was pretty tough. The sweet potato hash brown was awful though, it was mushy and honestly did not taste right, like it had just been defrosted, I didn't finish it.

Stopped in here for a quick coffee before an appointment and was impressed with the service and coffee. Very friendly staff who greeted us on arrival and were super helpful with our order. The coffee was delicious! Correct temperature, taste and strength!! I would love to come back and try some of their breakfast options as everything looked nice on the menu and the reviews seem positive.

A delightful place to waste a few hours. Lovely service from delightful Tom and Katie this morning - I thoroughly enjoyed my ham and cheese toastie - The serving size was generous and the coffee was also excellent. Surry Hills has a great vibe and the outdoor area here is spacious and there’s shade or sun, depending on what you want. Highly recommended.

Pretty good breakfast place. I love the griddle cakes, they are crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Paired with the maple sauce and it was delicious. The fruit cake was surprisingly nice too. I’m not usually a fan of fruit cakes but these were nice and moist. The coffee was pretty good as well.

Being there for at least five times, since it's super close to my church and usually won't keep me waiting. Tried salads, bacon and egg roll, big breakie, pasta and burger and they were tasty. Also, its in a nice small garden with lovely staffs.

Came to Pieno after walking around Surry Hills and not being able to find any breakfast places with good seating on a Sunday morning. Was such a good find, I’m so happy we stumbled across it! The food is reasonably priced and delicious. I had the eggs bennie but will be back to try the big breakfast (the tomato relish was so good). One of my friends got the green eggs and ham, which also looked and tasted amazing. Lots of outdoor seating on comfortable benches, perfect for a sunny day. It’s a lovely cafe and it’s nice to sit out amongst the trees and decor. Can’t wait to come back!

Home of the best ham and cheese toastie in all the land. Turkish bread, well buttered, leg ham, gooey cheese, and tomato. Normally I don't dig on tomato in a toasted sandwich, because it turns to scalding lava, but Pieno has some sort of magical touch that means lovely fresh tomato, but without the mouth torture. Bueno!

Wow, I think this may be my new favourite coffee spot in Surry Hills. Friendly service and flavour-packed coffee with a punch. I've never seen or tasted a crèma that was so intensely caramel before -- just wonderful. Will surely be back.

Nice Lunch lovely Carbonara n Lamb Salad with fresh bread

Have been regulars here for the last 6 years, never fails to disappoint in terms of the food - and a great place to get breakfast. Coffee is sensational. The staff are usually extremely efficient and very friendly and the whole cafe has a nice relaxed vibe to it and a beautiful courtyard setting. My only feedback would be that when it does get busy, everything seems to get a bit chaotic and can be difficult to get served. Overall though, highly recommended cafe.

The whole menu is fantastic here, they know how to make good food and there is something on the menu for everybody. No words can describe how wonderful the flavor of their delightfully thick and fluffy pancakes are. Do yourself a favor, if you like pancakes come here.

Friendly staff serving aromatic coffee in a great location. Very popular with the locals . I had a ham and cheese toastie which was large enough to feed two people. The prices are average Sydney cafe prices. One complaint is the hand dryer in mens toilet does not work and there are no paper towels.

Beers are good (I do love Lord Nelson, tasty freaking beer!) but not hoegaarden even though it’s on the advertising boards :-( I’ll look past that given the pear salad and lamb ragu was so damn delicious. The service here is absolutely lovely. Environment gives a very warm cozy feeling. Coffee is quite bitter, little bit of a metallic taste. Not sure whether it's because of the blend or barista. Pieno is a nice spot with good coffee and long tables suitable for groups. Unfortunately the service is often terse and mistakes are frequent. The servings are also quite conservative. It's not a good look to serve two thin, minuscule pieces of toast from the end of the loaf.

Our favourite cafe. Best to go off peak as it gets busy on weekends. Coffee and breakfast are fantastic. Lunch menu great too (chipotle chicken salad 👍). But best of all is the service. Friendly staff all round.

Alfresco Sunday breakfast in Surry Hills? Sign me up! The big breakfast is deceivingly big. Our large group all ordered this and none of us finished it. The chutney and potato rosti were great inclusions that give a subtle change up from the regularly seen meal. The staff were super friendly and went beyond what is normally seen to in some parts to ensure we enjoyed our meal. As someone who likes to trial new cafes, I'm not sure how to walk past this place when I'm belly grumbling next.

I'd easily give Pieno 4 stars for the food and the wait staff too are great so why the 3 stars? Pieno is a beautiful indoor/outdoor cafe and it's kind of a mezzanine setup. And this is the issue. If you happen to be in the lower mezzanine the wait staff either forget you're there or never look in the first place. You see them come out and look around their immediate vicinity and then go back in without stretching their necks or legs to see if anyone in the lower mezzanine needs anything. If you have a setup like Pieno do you have to make an effort to be abreast of your entire area. I don't think that's too hard an ask and it's just a bit disappointing considering the wait staff are friendly and responsive when you do get them and the food is fantastic as is the surrounds. Really like this place but am just getting a bit sick of the lack of awareness.

Super fast, pleasant service. I'm not sure how it's possible to make a panini and a pasta in that time, but they sure did it. Maybe time flies when you're in good company. They explicitly state on the menu that they make customized panini to order, which is great. I get a ham, rocket, mushroom, and avocado panini, which comes warm and crispy. My friend gets a the carbonara pasta, and she complains it's a little too creamy for her taste, but not bad. Not mind-blowingly amazing, but not bad, either.

Great menu selection - Italian inspired. Very good coffee as well. Service a bit hit and miss. We waited for a while without getting any menus. When we asked for menus and water we still had to wait another 15 minutes. It was busy but still seemed pretty long given people come to eat there. Portions were generous and the food really good. I had the veggie breakfast and struggled to finish. Also great for people watching Wirt the Winery right next door and people arriving in all sorts of outfits… prices are not cheap but you get your money’s worth of food.
