Comments of Saint Germain Patisserie

Loved by locals and those who work in Redfern, they have some nice pastries and expect good service here.
You are sure to please any adults with their cakes, just try them out and find your favourites 😊. Any local would always go back for more!
If you're unsure about a flavour, there's smaller versions and pieces to try for pretty much every cake and tart 😁

I think croissant with chocolate is the best. And i cant forget that the host(i think he is the host)is so kind, he has nice smile. Hot long black and latte are also good. It gave me perfect feeling in Redfern.

True story...I was once in a tiny southern French town, and bought a croissant (yes, unremarkable so far). Upon leaving the shop, I had to open the paper bag to check that they'd actually put something in there! Light, crisp, a mere whisp of butter and flour...perfect. On the other hand, not far from saint German (to which I'll refer soon enough) cockatoo bakery makes a croissant so rich and heavy, more like a giant sfogliatelle that a whole black forest cake may leave you feeling less burdened (though still happy).
Saint Germain aims to straddle these 2 worlds with their croissant. To these ex makers eyes, the spread they offer looks totally happiness inducing, in an upper end of the middle of the market way. The service is smiley frenchy, and $2.80 is a pretty lean price for a croissant these days. The trouble was that it wasn't particularly good. Nor was it bad. However, the crispness was uneven, and the crisper end were decidedly stretchy, in a 5pm croissant way...but this was 10am. I'd bet they were baked after 4am, so they weren't actually stale. From the way I saw them stacked, I suspect they went into this piled state whilst still warm. This is no favour to a croissant. The heat doesn't allow the pastry to cool evenly, and the latent steam can have a staling effect, as I experienced.
Notwithstanding my inability to croissant here in the future, I'm sure this is a great little local, making frenchy happy times.

One of our favourite places for cakes! Almost every birthday we get one of them here! Never get sick of them! Very nice baguettes too. Place is cosy, probably not big enough to accommodate big groups.

Amazing pastries, cakes and pies.
The owner and his partner are lovely, and you can bring your dog inside to order.

A nice little Cafe in Alexandria serving excellent coffee. They bake their own cakes and serve baguettes and sandwiches for lunch. The owner is a very happy fella who loves to have a chat.

Best almond croissants in town, fresh, tasty, great ingredients, with fabulous french butter, amazing and the owner Gwen is so lovely.😊

Lovely place, friendly staff, tasty food and good coffee. I dropped in today and tried the halloumi burger and had a flat white, before wanting to take away some pastries to share at home. I was recommended the lemon meringue tart, I liked the look of the gluten-free orange cake, and I had to try a plain croissant as a yardstick to compare with other places (as I always do, along with a coffee). Definitely will go back - plenty of cakes, pastries, pies, deli items and other drinks to try!

Absolutely amazing shop with fresh variety of products, they have French cheeses and Saucisson, very tasty Croissants and Pear & Almond Tart. It may be busy on Saturday, just allow some time for waiting and be patient.

Best cakes ever..! The apple vanilla caramel cake is well worth driving across Sydney to get.
S. Z.
Great pastries, amazing cakes, lovely lunch options with good choice of sandwiches and baked savories. Good coffee too. Seating area is a pretty small so not great for prams and wheelchair access, although there are good big tables outside it can be noisy off the main road. Staff are brisk and the service style is pretty French, brusque and food - focused.

A great place if you just want some great quality food and coffee to have a quiet sit down whilst having a chat. Also an excellent hangover place.
The only thing I can find wrong with this place is it's not open long enough.

what I really like about this place is the quaint cosy warm atmosphere that I feel when I walk into the place. One early cold grey morning, I walked past it and saw the warm glow coming out of this little place, it was like a spell and i had to go in. The place offers plenty of selection and I wished I could try one each.
