Comments of The Albion Cafe

The food and beverages here are great. They are a good location to stop by for a bite on your way to Bateman's Bay. Ordered the cowgirl chickpeas, brioche French toast, lentil + beetroot salad with trout, and the green avo. Most were really good. There was more than enough hommus in the trout meal though. Yours truly @fooderarri

Dropped in as passing through from Lithgow to Bega.
Food was good but we could not get scrambled eggs just fried or poached so I had poached my friend had Fried .sadly we both got poached but considering the long wait & we were virtually first in we left it as is.
Nice place nice decor but in total we were there over 1hr - we understand not a Maccas but all that time for weak Luke warm coffee & incorrect order pity..
C. B.
Didn't get a chance to stop in to try anything due to time, but liked the fact that the old hotel had been turned into a cafe. Good location on a corner with parking available. A good place to stop if people have time or a break from driving.
B. B.
One of the best meals I have ever had in over 60 years traveling roads all over Australia. Also some of the prettiest young girls serving and delivering it to the table. Despite the fact it was chocker block full in peak hour, the service was swift and the lunch was delicious. Highly recommended!!!
E. H.
I love stopping in here for a brunch when we travel from Canberra to the south coast. Coffee and sticky chai are great, and gluten free options on most of the food items, of which there are a wide range to suit all palates. My fave is the Albion bun, loved their own made red pepper jam!
D. F.
Stopped for lunch on the way to South coast with the family. Food was excellent, tasty and served quickly. Selection catered for everybody well. Outlook on verandah was very nice also. Will definitely return.
N. J. D. S.
Polite staff who helped us get a table suitable to have lunch with a toddler. The sticky chai and the coffee was quite good.
The limited number of outdoor tables were well looked after by the staff.
Toilets were clean and had plenty of soap and hand towels. Will definitely stop by again.
A. E.
Excellent! Very cosy interior, great food, great coffee, very attentive and welcoming staff. Hat off for kitchen chief in particular.
Update: just dropped here again, and see they are keeping their high standard. Very pleased.
T. M.
Came in for breakfast, very nice space and comfortable.
Staff not overly enthusiastic.
Coffee was excellent, however food menu was overly pretentious for our taste.
We paid for our drinks and went elsewhere to eat.
J. O.
The Albion Cafe is gorgeous. It's situated in an old terrace and set up beautifully with a rustic, market vibe. The staff were war, attentive and rather efficient. The food was mouth watering. Try the honey chai, delicious!
P. B.
Wonderful day out today for my mum’s birthday with excellent tasty meals and great service. Staff were overly accommodating and even joined us to sing happy birthday. Thank you! (and a special mention to lovely Lewis who served us throughout the day)
G. S.
Amazing food and service, Must visit cafe
C. J.
Wonderful food. Had a fantastic sandwich and ok coffee. Really nice staff and lots of fresh produce available to buy. Good setting with seating inside and around the verandah.
T. S.
A lovely and quaint cafe shop, with fresh produce all around you while you eat. The food was simple and delicious. The staff are super friendly and attentive to assist.
Book a table in advance for weekends, to not be disapointed!
D. B.
Amazing food, spectacular staff, great atmosphere. We took kids, and although the menu was limited for the little ones we still found something they liked!
H. S.
Excellent food, great coffee and supremely talented chef. Innovative dishes and a fantastic balance of complimenting flavours. The Albion is a gem.

Excellent Cafe!
- The food was affordable, very tasty and had options for our gluten free friend
- The coffee was fantastic!
- Staff were friendly and knowledgeable
- The toilets were very clean.
All in all, a great place to stop for a meal and coffee!
M. R.
Wow, so glad we tried this place out.
Fantastic service and fantastic food!!!!
We arrived in the peak of a lovely winters saturday morning and were quickly greeted with a lovely smile and welcoming feel.
No sooner had we been seated we were promptly offered drinks. The two rug rats were fairly restless and the wait staff quickly noticing offered some colouring in books to keep them entertained.
The coffee was great, the fig & hazelnut toast lovely but the bacon burger was to die for. It is one of the best bacon and egg burgers i have ever had, deliciously crispy bacon with wonderful free range eggs topped with amazing tomato relish and creamy sauce. Definitely make sure u try it if you drop in.
j. l. w.
Lovely historical building close to middle of town, sympathetically renovated.
Cheerful staff. Menu selection was plentiful without being overwhelming.
Coffee nice and warm.
Would have given five stars but disappointed that there is an EFTPOS fee for purchases for under $10.
T. C.
This cafe…..worth a visit for this food, have been twice now and will visit again. Try the trout back rice special - best meal I’ve had in ages. Great service too given how busy it was.
S. N.
A hidden gem in a little town, visit a must for lunch.
Staff are happy and always helpful.
Coffee was on the money.
This is something that you would expect to be in Melbourne hip cafes.
L. R.
We spent two days on a property 30 mins from Braidwood and spent both mornings driving here having breakfast at this divine cafe with what may have been the best soy flat white coffees ☕️ we have ever had...and that’s a big call considering how many coffees we have had over the years. Sitting on the verandah, it was hard not to order a second one. The staff were very friendly and we were sad to leave this delightful town and head back to Sydney.
M. D.
Great French Toast! Everyone else enjoyed their brunch toi.
m. w.
Always great here. Food and service awesome. Very busy but well done
A. F.
Beautiful, cosy atmosphere and lovely staff. Delicious vegan + low carb options.
O. L.

T. A.
Delicious food and coffee. Lovely ambience and the staff very accommodating. Look forward to coming back when in the area again.
M. S.
Fantastic service.
Coffee on point
Even pushed some tables together to accomodate our group.
C. K.
Recommended by many, my visit did not disappoint; Lonsdale Street Roasters coffee, crafted with care by a professional barista.
Great space for enjoying a morning coffee and newspaper, brunch/lunch with friends, or good food.
City quality in Braidwood with country hospitality
G. F.
Very tasty food and excellent staff who were helpful in adjusting the menu for gluten free/
coeliac. Definitely call in again
j. r.
I cannot express my gratitude to the Staff today
I came up with some friends today for lunch, An unfortunate incident happened to my friend and the girls were AMAZING , SO thankyou
The food was amazing aswell
P. W.
Friendly efficient service. Good range of breakfast options. We shared a granola and then a winter toasty. Both delicious.
S. E.
Warm entrance and very friendly staff with comfortable seats don't forget the best decor I've ever seen! Best coffee and ice coffee I've ever tasted that's why in the photograph the glass is empty! The best part was the breakfast IT WAS THE BEST!
H. S.
The Albion is one of those rare places where the food and atmosphere are both really lovely. It's also good value. We both had a semolina gnocchi with dried olives and parmesan and it was outstanding. The coffee was also as good as it gets. So I highly recommend and after the COVID lock downs will be back.
K. D.
Outstanding food. Great service. Really nice atmosphere. Great place for a tasty and value-for-money meal!!
E. S.
Lovely place to stop by for lunch. The food was amazing, the staff were polite and the atmosphere was nice.
It wasn't too loud and you could easily converse with others without difficulty.
The only downside was that the food took a bit longer than I expected it would but it was worth the wait. I would highly recommend this place to others and look forward to coming back again and again.
j. s.
Absolutely sensational. Excellent coffee, really friendly lovely service and exceptional food. I had the smoked trout, my husband had the falafel, we both loved each dish. They were packed with flavour and were so fresh. Highly recommend here.
D. O.
Excellent food and coffee not to expensive. Highly recommended
K.
Nice coffee and yummy homemade carrot cake 😘
K. K.
Nice coffee and yummy homemade carrot cake 😍
M. C.
Had a fantastic meal after being on the road, coffee was fast and the meal was amazing. Also a big shout out to our server Mila, she was so polite and
friendly. Will be going back when we are going to the bay next time.
A. G.
Great place for breakfast. Very nice coffee.
A. P.
We travelled to Braidwood for a day trip with the intention of spending a couple of Bob in town to help in the slow recovery from tourist deprivation during the Covid Caper. The Albion is a neat and slightly quirky cafe with an internal layout that somehow provides a reasonable amount of privacy in a medium sized establishment. They have local produce available for purchase and this is spread around. The menu is a little light on, as are most during these restricted times, but we both found something appealing and we both scored well. The service was good and the staff all very pleasant.
J. A.
It was good experience over all , staff was kind.
M. X.
Girlfriend and I enjoyed a lovely breakfast one day and the next day a superb lunch. It was our first time eating there, and we soon learnt why we needed to book. It's very popular on the weekends!!!
Both times, we arrived when it was busy, and while the staff could have turned us away, they went out of their way to find us a table. We could have easily accepted the fact that we weren't able to eat there on both occasions. A lot of other places in our experience would have, but we were impressed with the friendly and efficient staff.
With the quality and the variety of food, and the service we enjoyed, we'd recommend The Albion to anyone who enjoys the same. However we'd suggest you'd book if it's on a weekend you want to eat there.
Cheers to the staff at The Albion. We'll be back for sure!
A. S.
What a great find. Great coffee, great food with lots of vegetarian options and super friendly service. The cafe is a pleasant place to sit and appeared to be exceptionally popular with both locals and those like us, just passing through. I can see why. Spotlessly clean toilets too. Highly recommended if you're in town. We'll be back!
M. B.
Just perfect! Amazing food, coffee and friendly efficient staff.
I had the chicken toasty (so full flavour) and my partner had the fruit toast (nutty and yum).
Great work guys, please set up a cafe in Parramatta, you’d make a fortune.
D. C.
We had breakfast here two days in a row during our motorbike touring trip. The atmosphere is great, the service is very fast, staff are lovely and the food and coffee fantastic. The Albion is an absolute Gem in this town. Highly reccommend going here. you wont be dissappointed.
J. H.
This is a lovely cafe in Braidwood. The menu wasn't huge, but for someone like me who agonises over many choices it was good. We had one of the summer toasties and a delicious muffin. I had a glass of old-fashioned lemonade and my husband had a latte. We were very happy with our choices. I even brought a piece of carrot cake home with me. And the service? Wonderful! Thanks Albion Cafe, our trip to Braidwood from Canberra for lunch was well worth it.
E. W.
Highly recommend! We have been twice in the last four days. Great with kids, great for gf options, fresh produce, great coffee, great service. Look forward to going there every time we head to the coast and back!
M. L.
Good service, we were 12 people for breakfast and everyone's drinks and meals were excellent and served together. A little pricey but good. Will be back.
T. R.
Totally brilliant. Great vibe, good prices, wonderful wholesome food and good coffee. You must try the special carrot cake. It's deliciously moist.
p. b.
Except for a very limited menu, the lunch we ordered was very tasty. I had delicious duck leg and my wife ordered a smoked trout salad.
The staff were attentive, friendly and courteous
J. C.
Very good coffee. Good vibe. Recommended.
G. N.
Nice atmosphere, attentive staff and good food.
Food is a little pricey, but the quality is excellent.
Among the best in Braidwood.
M. M.
We had lunch on a busy Sunday recently and chose this place so we could sit outside. I had a toasted ham and cheese sandwich which came with a wombok salad with parmesan. So good we asked our helpful waitress for the ingredients and now we make it ourselves (not quite as good) The missus enjoyed her smashed avo which came with pickles.
J. K.
Beautiful atmosphere, great coffee and muffin (Spiced Plum and Apple).
K. B.
We drove out from Canberra to visit some friends and enjoy the shops, Cafe and atmosphere of Braidwood. The staff at the Albion were so lovely, shout out to the Irish girl who got some toys for my daughter, and the food was exquisite. The service time was longer than we would have liked but the staff worked hard to ensure we got everything we needed.
L. G. (.
Fresh and healthy food. Beautiful presentation and friendly service. Love the menu and seasonal adjustments. Chicken salad and trout with white bean purée were on point today. Worth the drive for lunch, not just a highway stop!
R. D.
Good menu selection great coffee. Fast and polite service, with some good take away tucker if you are staying overnight in Braidwood.
T. L.
Great decor friendly staff and food was great
R. J.
Healthy, good-sized GF brunch, serves Lonsdale coffee
D. K.
Had an absolutely delicious breakfast with my family. The prices were reasonable and the food was full of flavors and incredibly tasty. Staff was really friendly and the food was worth the wait for it considering they took a while making it. Highly recommend this for breakfast or lunch.
M. R.
Bit on the pricey side but nice. My special of the day salad was nice. They forgot my wife’s order which came late so they comped it which is a nice touch. Happened many times at other places and not everyone does that.
s. h.
This place exceeded all expectations. Great food, exceptional service, brilliant coffee. We will be back to enjoy this again.
J. B.
Worthwhile stopover for the drive to the coast with healthy food.
C. M.
Great food - nice coffee
S. J.
Good food and coffee and always been good with my kids there. If anything the food is too healthy.
EDIT 19/09/18: Tried new menu. An improvement over what was already good food. Had the beef bun which was a slow cooked pulled beef burger.... was amazing.
D. C.
Lovely bowl of hot veggie soup and sourdough for lunch. We arrived just on closing, made it by 4 minutes, ordered and no regrets. No time for coffee, next time. Thanks Albion Cafe 😋
G. H.
It is just a lovely small town cafe with everything that you expect from, well, a small town cafe. It's got a comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff and outdoor seating under the awnings.
The menu contains modern cuisine and our group enjoyed all their choices. The gnocchi were good (but rather mild), the honey halloumi salad was good (very sweet, be warned). The smoked salmon salad was just about perfect I am told.
Very recommended place, you will enjoy your visit
D. I.
This cafe is a gem! Food is amazing! The flavours are tantalising on your palette. Everything is fresh. One of the best coffee places that we’ve been to.
We always stop there on our trips to BB.
L. W.
Perfect bacon and egg brekky burger, friendly staff, efficient even though busy. We didn't really like the coffee but could be just personal taste. Definitely coming back, thanks!!
C. D.
Bit disappointed in the lamb bun i had. Was looking forward to tender slow cooked lamb but the meat was dry and tasteless to the point i didnt eat it all. The salad that came with it was nice. And the beetroot that the meat was on was tasty too. I also would have prefered fries than crisps with it.
They were accommodating when i asked for a small side of avocado for my baby. So service was good.
P. A.
Nice cafe in the country town. Environment is great to get a quick bite. Customer service is good. I had a chicken sandwich but did not enjoy it. No taste
M. I.
Great food and atmosphere, great coffee as well. A little on the pricey side if you're just traveling through and a somewhat limited menu but the pros outweigh the cons. Quite a gem tucked away in quiet Braidwood.
C. K.
This place never disappoints, great (and fast) service , good coffee and food. Well worth stopping in.
R. N.
Really great food. The wait wasn’t long and the food was fresh and tasty. I highly recommend the trip from Canberra or the surrounding regions into Braidwood just for the Albion Cafe.
S. S.
The Albion Cafe menu offer's a vegetarian based menu, the food selection is amazing you can't believe it's veggie based. It's just so nice! They have a various selection of hot and cold beverages. You can also buy fresh vegetables and fruits. The Cafe has table service in an absolutely pretty setting in the historical township of Braidwood.
S. C.
Most definitely a place you must stop by if you find yourself in Braidwood. Not only for the fab food and coffee, but the ambiance in this quirky country café is so special. Staff are very welcoming and accommodating. 5 stars from me ♡
T. B.
Very tangy breakfast. I like tanginess in food and the hummus egg dish did it for me. It came with a very nice relish, which mixed with the egg, toast and hummus was a real winner. The coffee was good too (Canberra quality).
S. S.
We enjoyed some delicious healthy meals in this gorgeous cafe and the service was great. Very organized managing through the Covid issues. A must to return to!!
B. B.

It was a ln incredibly busy afternoon, and even though the staff were stressed, they were still very professional and friendly, and the service was quick. The place is lively and lovely.
The coffee, on the other hand, was atrocious.
G. A.
Really nice food at reasonable prices with fast and friendly service. Check out the specials board. I usually choose a meal from the board and haven't been disappointed yet. Coffee's great too.
K.
Absolutely delish bacon bun, which they made with GF bread for my daughter and I. We will definitely return!
R. R.
Consistently outstanding! Great service ,coffee was perfect n the food ,well the food is always an experience!! We had the chicken n slaw salade w shredded Apple n raisins and the falafel , both divine!
Z. C.
Beautiful food, great service
K. M. S.
The most private eatery in Braidwood. Excellent coffee and cakes. Meals are usually good, though at times overloaded with ingredients, and all are rather expensive. Their toasted bread is hard, but you can ask for it untoasted.
M. T.
Wonderful cafe with lots of character and good service. Menu choices could be better as not a lot of choice as menu of years gone by had
B. L.
Nice for a lazy Sunday morning but don't be in a rush. Fresh juice and food was good, initial service was good but a looong (close to an hour) wait for breakfast to arrive. They did apologise, and knocked drinks of the bill.
D. M.
Food and ambience is quite nice, Menu is off the beaten track. Good for pseudo nuvo what have you's from the right side of the tracks. Can't recommend for kids, no chicken nuggetts or hamburgers.
D. M.
Brendan, Bridgit and the team produce some of the best eats and coffee in NSW. I recently had a truffle egg creation that included a mound of beautiful locally grown black truffle shavings. The cafe also features a relaxed atmoshere and warm welcoming environment. A Braidwood must!
R. B.
There seems to be a number of options in Braidwood which could catch your eye if you're driving through.
For whatever reason I settled on the Albion for breakfast.
I had been craving cheese burgers for about a week prior to visiting the Albion - luckily for me they had a smoked ham toastie on their breakfast menu.
smoked ham, gruyere cheese + salt cured cucumber pickle on grilled local sourdough, shredded cabbage salad
yum. along with good coffee and service
S. C.
A quaint Café in an old town with a pleasant ambience, very friendly and courteous staff & delicious country style food :-) Don't forget to drop by when travelling along Kings Highway between the South Coast & Canberra.
