Comments of The Hive Berambing
B.
Enjoyed this small family run cafe. Something for everyone on the menu, and most items are baked on the premises after we enquired. Croissants, sourdough, pies and toasties. Yummy cakes and slices. You can tell they are passionate about coffee too. You can sit outside so dog friendly.

We ordered a beef pie, a spinach roll and an apple pie. Beef pie and spinach roll were decent but they really missed the mark with the apple pie. In fact that was one of the worst apple pies I've ever had. No spices whatsoever and you could just tell how flavourless it'd be from its pale colour. As someone that makes apple desserts regularly I can say it really shouldn't be thus bad if they simply just added enough brown sugar in it. I consider this a huge letdown because this area is known for its apples
R. L.
Finally got to try to a burger from here after hearing how good they are. It did not disappoint!! We've been getting coffee's and toasties here for a long time and it doesn't matter what you order, its always delicious!!!!!
J. L.
We stopped at the Hive for lunch on the way back from the Blue Mountains Botanical Gardens, which is only 5 minutes away. Great little cafe, with tasty burgers and toasties to choose from. Coffee was also good. It also has a little shop selling local honeys and treats. Even freshly baked apple pies. Very yummy.
R. H.
A great place to stop before going to the mountain garden. Interior design looks nice and outdoor seat looks great, too. Food were great but drinks can be improved 😊.
Parking available 👍
I love their sandwiches💕
S. S.
leisure drive, stop here for lunch, order beef burger and chicken burger, very nicely presented delicious tastes, bravo to working staff very professional, much thanks will be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our food! Lamb & Rosemary pie, pesto/avo toastie and scones were all so delicious! We arrived towards the end of the day so not long before they were closing and most of the pies had sold out - except for the one lamb pie. It’s a great little stopover for something quick. We will be back again!
D. K.
When we are passing through to go to the Blue Mountains we call in for a coffee and a pie. The staff are always very friendly and the service is excellent. The meat pies are beautiful and plentiful of meat. The apple pies are great. Well worth stopping in if you are in the area.
T.
A great place to stop for a coffee, breakfast or lunch just a minute or few before the Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens when travelling from Sydney. Excellent baked items and good coffee.
C. B. L.
The place is very nice, the staff is friendly, but the halloumi and spinach sandwich wasn't the best. But that's according to my taste. Maybe you'll like it. The only way to know is by going there and trying it yourself!
A. V.
Food quality and taste was top notch, every dish my family chose was a winner
R. M.
One of the best burgers I’ve had, and easily the best burger in the Blue Mountains. Coffee was great and I grabbed a homemade apple pie on the way out. Can’t wait to visit again. The staff and owners have perfected the quaint cafe in the mountains
M. F.
This little cafe on the side of the road served the most delicious beef and gravy pie. The staff were very friendly and the food tasted amazing. Would highly recommend if you are in the area
L. J.
Cute little cafe on the way to Mount Tomah. Scones were amazing. Highly recommend to drop by if you're passing by.
P. S.
We made a quick stop here for brunch and ordered the Avocado & Cheese toast, a vegetarian roll, scones and a capuccino. The food was great but the chef definitely nailed it with the scones. The place was clean, had COVID Safety measures in place and social distancing was maintained. The staff were friendly, and the service was quick. There's also locally produced honey and apple juice available for sale. Highly recommended!
H. C.
Lovely little rustic cafe that sells homemade sweet and savoury pies, as well as scones and other treats. Local produce is also for sale here, and you'll be able to find preserves made from locally sourced fruits and vegetables, in additional to all of the Bilpin branded products like apple juice and honey. The coffee is good and the scone are soft and amazingly fluffy. The meats pie crust is crispy and the filling is chunky. The perfect pie. Brilliant. It can be cold inside though. Definitely need a heater! Bring gloves.
N. M.
Lovely Cafe with great food and service. Savoury Pies are awesome!! They also accept Dine & Discover vouchers.
V. T.
Delicious meat pies!
A cosy little shop just off the main road, they sell a selection of hot meals, baked goods and preserved foods!
The beef and gravy pie was generously filled with chunky steak, swimming in a rich brown gravy, and wrapped in a crispy, flaky crust!
Bring an empty stomach as you'll want to try their desert too! Scones were hot and fresh, light and tasty!
J. S.
Amazing little place in the blue mountains. The apple pie is a must try and delicious. Not too sweet, but just right. Coffee is great too! Highly recommend as a pit stop out west.
M. D.
We dropped in to The Hive on our way to the Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens and had a delicious lunch. The boys had pies and said they were very good. We girls had the most wholesome and scrumptious soup with lovely toasty buttery sourdough, which was so good on a brisk day in the mountains. We also bought a fresh apple pie to have for dessert after dinner. It was also really good. The coffee was exceptional and perfect after the lunch. All in all we were really impressed. Plus the Botanic Gardens, just up the road are sublime. We'll certainly be back.
R.
Great place to stop for a coffee or even a bite to eat. The toasted sandwiches are made to order.
J. B.
Very tasty pies with fluffy and crispy pastry. We shared a beef and a chicken pie, couldn’t pick a winner. Perfect post hike pies.
S. B.
Short pit-stop here to grab a toastie, and was not disappointed. Gourmet-style! Very delicious. Will come again.
R. R.
Amazing food, loved the Burgers. A must visit ♥️

Road food is always a contentious category for me. I simply won’t dine if it means eating mass-produced junk food. Cue me: scouring our planned route to NSW’s Central West for something approximating real food. I scored well with The Hive Berambing, a small grey shed with polished cement flooring and varnished wood details.
While it might be roadside on the Bells Line of Road, the food it produces is honest and inexpensive, plus there’s the opportunity to team your visit with a spot of produce shopping. They’re the home of Bilpin Bush Honey, so there are opportunities to taste creamed, cinnamon creamed, and raw bush honey while you wait for your food. Locally produced products take pride of place in their small range, with Hillbilly Cider and Wirraninna Ridge apple cider vinegar from nearby Bilpin, both standing out on the shelves. Outside you’ll find straw filled wooden crates with fresh produce. Picture perfect oranges, lemons, pink lady apples and pecan nuts were on offer during my recent visit.
Fresh produce is put to good effect in their own range of products, like the house-made Spicy Tomato Relish ($10/400g). You can try it before you buy it with The Hive Sausage Roll ($6) for an extra fifty cents. This pork-mince filled sausage roll is flaky and honest. The sesame seed-studded Vegetarian Roll ($6) is even better against the chunky, round tomato relish.
On the succinct menu, you’ll also find this relish put to good use on the Vegetarian Toastie ($12.50). It's pitted against golden, freshly-grilled haloumi cheese, avocado and a generous helping of tangy sauerkraut on a toasted flat roll. It’s a generous size, big enough to share if you both want to try their baked products too.
Drink options include Remedy’s lovely Lemon, Lime & Mint Organic Kombucha, a range of coffees, including Iced Coffee ($6), and a clever Banana Turmeric Smoothie ($9). Made with a blend of bananas, walnuts, yoghurt, almond milk, honey and LSA mix (linseed, sunflower seeds and almonds); it’s nutty with a nice kick of turmeric - perfect for fuelling your onward journey.

With Bells Line of Road now open to traffic, at reduced speed, we ventured along the well known stretch of road to lend support to the local communities and their hospitality outlets who are still operating and discovered The Hive Berambing. With stoic smiles and no little amount of hustle and bustle they were serving a steady flow of people, similar to ourselves, and providing food that's worthy of the rating. From delicious ham in toasties, fragrant Green Curry chicken to a very yummy pork sausage roll (they had sold out of their pies!) the food was great, topped off with great coffee, and chai latte. A fascinating feature is a glass-fronted panel of a functioning bee hive built into the wall, and almost as soothing as watching a fish tank! Well worth a stop.
S. S.
Highly recommended to everyone, very tasty and delicious meal. Scones were vegetarian, softly made.
P. H.
Great coffee! Beautiful homemade apple pie! A great little cafe to drop in your way up Bells Line of Road. Friendly service and a lovely range of local produce. Fresh apples, honey and cider.
S. H.
I highly recommend the rhubarb lemonade. The homemade apple pie was also delicious. It is a bit tricky to get off the highway to stop there, but it‘s definitely worth it! I tried some honey and it is astoundingly good- I usually don’t like honey.
K. H.
Delicious food and the loveliest staff! 🧡
Gift shop is adorable and affordable, and the vibe is just so great, highly recommend :)

A really nice place to have Mother’s Day brunch. Not too busy but a constant hum of people. Great food, good customer service even though they were working very hard. Easy parking and I liked the outdoor seating.
r. s.
Great coffees and that Apple pie yummy also the scones yummy and great great service xx
M. N.
Your gluten free bread/cheese toastie was delicious!
P. H. (.
Great food and coffee. With the Bells Line of Road closed just west of the cafe this is a real hidden gem! It is really peaceful at the moment and the air is so fresh. Take a good book or just sit and relax in the sun. Enjoy! We did.
C. W.
Lovely spot to stop for a cuppa and watch the world go by.They also sell bread, honey and other locally sourced produce
B.
We had breakfast here this morning. Service was friendly and inviting, Coffee was perfect and food was great. Good way to start start the day. People must remeber that the mountains are not fast paced so don't rock up in a rush and start being rude to the staff!! Nobody appreciates people who act entitled. ✌

Very nice road side cafe. Good covid practice.
The meal is good quality and good coffee.
Be careful of turning traffic, I saw a couple of near misses because the shop is directly opposite passing bay so sometimes car crosses 2 lane of traffic going at high speed to the opposite side.
There need to be changes to the road or there will be serious accidents soon....
K. R. (.
Delicious apple pie and nice coffee
D. H.
Yummy apples and great honey. The tea is mediocre and toilets had no water. Don’t expect a garden restaurant, Hive is situated next to the busy road.
I. D.
Modern-rural design stopover on the Bells Line of Roads through the Blue Mountains with excellent espresso drinks, teas, pies and local products. Operated by the family of Bilpin Bush Honey products.
B. N.
Great place to stop for a coffee or bite to eat - easy access both directions on road. Coffees were great, we had a couple of pies that were delicious. Staff lovely. Will be back.
D. C.
Nice. Basic menu and dog friendly for well behaved dogs seated outside.
A. R.
Kids love watching the bee's. The honey's are wonderful and worth the trip alone. The natural bee's wax candles are lovely burning on a cold day. Oh, Pies are EXCELLENT!. (if only it wasn't so far away). we do our best to plan westerly trips past here! Lovely place.
A. S.
This was a nice little place to visit for lunch, the scones and jam were delicious! It does get pretty busy, but was quieter when we arrived. We had the Vegetarian roll and the avo, cheese and tomato sandwich, followed by scones (yes they are most certainly considered dessert at lunch or dinner).
Physical distancing was maintained during COVID with a limit on the number of people indoors (placing orders, browsing) and seating only outdoors.
The only misgiving was the cars driving by rather close to the seating area, with some not slowing down and throwing dust. This isn't on the main road but on the way to the parking. Maybe move the seating area behind, nearer to the serene view at the back if possible? Not sure what the space availability is there.
I would definitely recommend The Hive and would like to visit them again on my next trip to Bells Line of Road. The food was delicious and the Staff friendly and helpful.
A. G.
Excellent coffee, tasty scones and food. Best place to stop along the side of the road on Bells Line of Rd. We will definitely visit again.
S. B.
We stumbled across this little cafe whilst driving. I'm not a beef pie person but the pies were delicious. Great quality!! My husband also found the coffee to be excellent. I would love to stop by again and try the cakes.
V. W.
Foods great. Lovely atmosphere. Will be going back again.
f. “. i.
One of the highlights of our trip to the Blue Mountains. Great quality fresh produce and excellent service. Toasties are dangerously tempting and pass the taste test with flying colours. Excellent coffee as well. Fresh honey options available. Highly recommended.
C. L.
Great spot for a stop, cup of joe and delish bite. The home made honey and indoor bee hive is unique and fun to see!
L. N.
Absolutely wonderful little place to take a break from driving! We stopped in from Mudgee to Sydney and were surprised by all the great things they had on offer - delicious pies and sausage rolls, fresh bread and local honey, house-baked cookies... loved it!
P. S.
Friendly and helpful service. Good food.
With increased traffic now, it is very noisy, making conversation difficult. It needs seating around the back.
L. F.
Stopped in for lunch. Pies were tasty, coffee is good and has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Good selection of honey to buy. Lunch menu had two curries which I’m looking forward to trying on our next visit.
G. S.
The chicken pesto toastie was delicious. You can tell the chef put a lot of love and care into preparing the food. Such a nice place to stop for lunch. Will be back!
w. d.
There’s quite limited tables and it is quite busy, so visit this place for takeaway, to buy local produce like honey, apple pie and apple juice or to grab a casual snack and coffee. We enjoyed our visit, but wish they had more dine in seating.
S. G.
Very good coffee (they do care about the beans). Great and full of flavour pumpkin soup (on special on the first weekend in June). The best sourdough bread I have found in Australia! All of this located in a tiny tin-shed by the road. Unexpected quality in a random rural location. I have been visiting this place for many years whenever in the area and it's always been surprising me. Don't miss it, or do miss it and leave me that one last loaf of bread left on the shelf...
V. C.
The most delicious pie I've ever eaten! Flakey, rich pastry with flavourful lamb garlic and rosemary filling. Beaut! And friendly, professional service.
A. B.
Very nice coffee. Bought one big, scone to share with wife.. One serve is 2 scones... Woohoo.. I got 1 and a half.. Nice friendly staff even though they were busy.
M. N.
Your gluten free bread/cheese toastie was delicious!
J. S.
On the way back to Sydney from our long weekend break, decided to take the Bells Line of Road route to see if we could lend a little bit of support to those who were affected by the fires. Came across this gem. The staff were friendly, food was delicious and coffee was great to boot. Well worth a stop if you're in the area.
R. J.
Called into this place about a year ago. Clearly they were renovating, we were pretty desperate for a coffee as it was early morning and we driven two hours from the Sutherland shire.
The owner happily Provided us with coffee. Even though they were closed. It was the best coffee.
We’ve had the intention of going up again after the bushfires but the Covid restrictions have kept us at home.
Looking forward to visiting again as soon as possible.
M. R.
Best Apple pie and scones of the year so far. Friendly, fast service, tasty honey on sale also. Coffee was ok. Smallish place though we had no problems finding a table to sit at for morning tea.
J. R.
A nice little place in the middle of nowhere. Coffee n sweet pies are great. Nice honey and bees display. They need more variety of food to make people sit there for longer. Cute although they need to think more about how to grow the business or it will die
E. W.
Great coffee, not a fan for sour pie. Why put vinegar on pastry?
K. M.
Friendly, professional staff, tasty food, good prices. Great fresh produce especially the home made apple pies.
Clean, welcoming establishment
C. N.
Nice breakfast stopover driving from Mount Wilson back to Sydney. Pleasant customer service and very decent coffee.
D. H.
Very tasty toasties for lunch followed by fabulous iced coffees - yep, complete with ice-cream & cream. Will definitely call in again!
K. E.
An institution. Best damned apple pies in the Blue Mountains, in my (and many others') opinion. They did the place up recently, and it serves a good coffee, and some local produce. Whenever it's not too inconvenient, I love coming over the Mountains via Bells Line of Road just to fetch a pie from here.
K. B.
such an adorable little place! fresh jam and scones were delicious also bought some fresh black plum jam the cutest bees wax candle, will definitely be back 👌
D. C.
Lovely stop off the roadside. They do great pies and scones. Honey, candles and other things in the shop as well.
E.
Very tasty beef pie, and nice service :)) worth stopping by. We grabbed some honey too as they looked lovely.
A. H.
Great morning tea, comfortable cafe.Serves excellent coffee, great banana bread and scones, generous serves.
Very friendly staff, keen to please. Thanks to the young lady who served us.
S. S.
I've had some pies around the place but the beef pie at the Hive is one of the best I have ever had, definiteky recommended and worth a stop on the way through the mountains
I. P.
Had hot chocolate and avo toast. Hot chocolate is nothing fancy. Pretty sure it was powdered chocolate.
Avo toast was very good but also very small so averaged out to OK.
J. S.
Really enjoyed freshly baked and cut sandwiches with pies. Apple cider they made was refreshingly tasty.
A. S.
Great food here, I especially love the apple pie, I always have to bring a coffee l couple home when I am passing

(Translated) I stopped for a lunch break on a drive trip. It was a stylish cafe in the mountains, and it was fashionable, the atmosphere was good, the staff was nice and the food was delicious. There are also souvenirs such as honey. We also sell apple cider, but only non-alcoholic ones. Those with alcohol seem to need to go to Bilpin.
