Comments of The Kitchen Café @ Mayfield Garden
P. T.
Nice cosy Cafe with great outdoor seating over looking the organic herb patch.
Great coffee, great breakfast and lunch. We love the garden fresh gnocchi and the roasted garden salad. Beautifully made. Pancake with maple syrup and fresh fruits were delightful.
Service and wait time was a little long, however I think they were somehow under staffed today. But all in all, we enjoyed it. Do book a table prior. This place gets busy all the time.
G. P.
It’s a must to visit the Mayfield Garden in Blue Mountains, especially their Mayfield Garden Kitchen! Though it’s the only cafe in the garden, the scrumptious food and cosy atmosphere with friendly staff are awesome. We’ll be back again. Make sure you book a table in advance to avoid any disappointment.
K. C.
Wow the food is so good, we loved the smoked trout bruschetta.
Lots of flies and insect repellent does not work.
Book in advance
A. N.
This is the only cafe in Mayfield Garden, but it wont make you disappointed, we had lunch here yesterday and the staffs were really helpful and friendly. We ordered a bruschetta and a plater, both were nice, cheese is a must try here, a lot better than other places.
g. l.
Great day out, cooling water gardens on hot days will be a lot more shady areas when some of the gardens mature more.
a. A.
Lovely cafe, portions are generous yet affordable, cozy, gets really busy so better book first before coming.
K. H.
Nice little Cafe. There weren't many light options on the menu though. Lovely atmosphere with background live music.
L. L.
Nice garden set up.
Good coffee with great service
S. S.
Make sure you make a reservation. We rocked up but we're told to use the cafe outside. Understandable but the outside cafe should have more offerings on the menu to compensate. Cool place and hope to visit again and see the garden in full bloom. Will revise review with the next visit.

Had lunch at the cafe over the New Year Long weekend, was busy, the staff were great, the food was good except for the pizza. Not much topping and soggy. Sat outside with flies buzzing, but that is ok as this is Australia. What did not add to the experience was the flowers on the table was half dead and the water had gone a transparent grey. Eating at the cafe was not a relaxing or totally enjoyable experience . There is no outlook to the cafe and there is a constant stream of people heading inside the restaurant to pay for pizza, cold water and ice cream and purchase drinks to eat in the other area outside the cafe. Also, there is a constant stream of people heading to the gardens right outside the cafe passing you. If you are looking for a nice atmospheric place this is not it.

We glamped in the garden as part of that, we got our stunning three course meal for dinner. Enjoyed the vegetarian dishes. Loved the flavours the fresh herbs was adding to the food. Morning again had breakfast at the restaurant, not a lot of vegetarian on offer for breakfast, but pancakes were good. I loved the service of this place. Accessible entrance and toilets available. I liked the lightings in the evening. After a tiring day of walking around in the garden, you can rely on the food here. Coffee and desserts were awesome.
P. B.
Great place, super busy. Make sure to book. Really great location
R. A.
Nice food and good service. Outdoor seating are nice.
C. C.
Much better than I expected. Needs more seating. Would be nice if there was a coffee cart in a more central location in the gardens. I will be back again at a different time of year to see different flowers. Highly recommended.
B. L.
This place is beautiful. The gardens are extensive and beautifully planned. We realised the season we visited was not the best, as the autumn colours had finished, but we enjoyed it nevertheless. The lunch we had in the cafe was quite delicious
C. D.
The Mayfield Garden Cafe is a beautiful spot to eat, drink and relax before, and after, walking the colossal expanse of gardens. The staff were friendly, the food lovely, and with a fine variety of breakfast and lunch foods, it is fantastic for an end of day chillax.
You can dine in, dine out, or takeaway, and with some fantastic spots to sit in the small hub of gardens that are there in the first section. A lovely experience, but definitely bring sunscreen and a hat!
M. H.
Upon this impromptu visit, I wasn't expecting to get seating at this popular venue but alas were we graced with a table (and an hour limit). It could have been the beautiful drive through the golden canola fields or the classic country chic of the interior but I approached the menu brimming with optimism. I left fully satified with the well designed menu and executive of the meals. I thoroughly recommend this cafe and the garden as an essential stopover if you are in or passing through the area.
D. B.
Superb. Food, ambience and great service. Plus entertainment (via the chickens).
K. M.
Wow! Tasty and fresh! The surroundings are so beautiful! The cafe has a relaxed rustic atmosphere! Staff are so attentive! Food came out in reasonable time and fairly priced! Come visit!
G.
Delicious food. Amazing presentation and big portions. This is the kind of food, so fresh and tasty, that will make you finally understand that what you get from fast-food is simply not food. Because real food will taste like this at Mayfield. Last but not least, very friendly customer service. Thank you.

Mayfield Cafe is the perfect spot for brunch and coffee, just outside of Mayfield Garden in Oberon, NSW. The cafe has a cosy vibe with many plants inside. Service was quick and friendly.
I enjoyed the coffee (fish rivers roasters). Food was alright.
H. M.
Daily special was excellent as were the sweet potatoe wedges. Staff were helpful and friendly. It might be wise to book a table on weekends as we were lucky to be seated.
N. L. -. l.
Amazing Food here, and it's recommended to book ahead as they get quite busy. I booked online but unfortunately the restaurant didn't get it so luckily I confirmed in person when I arrived. They recommended that it's better to call in person to confirm.
There is a Kiosk around the corner that offers a similar menu and it's outdoor seating. No need to book for this.
Excellent food! We ordered the Roast Pork and Cheeseburger. Kitchen closes at around 3.30pm-4pm
A. K.
This is an amazingly beautiful place, but if I may offer suggestions, they need heaps of clearer signage and a seriously better map. There are many pathways that we assume we can go through, but we can't thus had to backtrack several times. Nevertheless highly recommended, and you should sometimes get out of the pathways and walk on the grass to access some lovely spots.
M. S.
My partner and I had lunch at the cafe in the grounds of Mayfield Garden before visiting the garden. I had a beef burger and he had the salmon, both were delicious. The building is beautiful and the scenery is terrific, the food and wine lived up to those high standards.
Hard to believe this is located 90 minutes away from town, it is better quality than many of the places we tried in the surrounding towns.
N. R.
Staff in cafe seemed under stress. Some food stale. Amazing gardens
M. P.
Garden was lovely and well manicured, I have 100 photos just beautiful and the copper tree is stunning and refreshing on a 35degree day. Dogs are welcome which was great. For a big walk not slot of shade and on a hot day no where to grab a drink of water on the walk for us or the dog, a bubbler would be good. Drinks at the cafe are lovely, but expensive $16for 2 lemon aids and a ginger beer. Really wanted a litre of water.
T. L.
Be prepared to eat fast because of the multitude of flies attacking you. Not so enjoyable in that sense. Food was nice but pricey for what it was
G. C.
We ordered simple ham cheese avo and tomatoe relish toasties and caps and we were pleasantly surprised by the delicious taste bacon instead of ham and yummy crunchy bread! Coffee very nice too! We also bought a jar of Rhubarb jam each (made on the property). Then spent an hour and a half walking around the magnificent gardens!!!
T. N.
Nic Cafe with friendly and helpful staff. They got our lunch order slightly mixed up but let us keep the wrong meal as well as providing the missed order, and then gave us a 10% discount. Great coffee too.
C. S.
Valentine's Day degustation dinner at Mayfield was a fabulous gastronomical experience courtesy of head chef Daniel ((centre) and helpers, and 3 energetic, informative and cheerful waits. All wrapped in the wonderful surroundings of Mayfield Gardens under a clear sky. Watch out for more degustation occasions to follow.
C. Y.
Great Staff table service. Food serving time takes longer time to come. Food presentation looks good.
S. K.
Good food but the flies in this place prevent you from enjoying your meal and the garden visit in general. All the mozzie repellent in the world could not repel the flies away. Otherwise, nice setting especially at night.
M. N.
I only passed through the cafe which has nice surrounds.
If the cafe matches the standard of Mayfield Gardens don't hesitate to use it's services. Mayfield Gardens are eye opening. A huge operation over a large area conducted in a detailed fashion.
r.
Vary fresh foods and having lots of outside seating arrangements after visiting garden you will love to relax with hot meals
M. W.
Two stars for the tasty food, an extra one for the one staff member who was polite.
Left two stars out because of the attitude from the barista. We ordered ice coffee in a takeaway cup along with lunch to dine-in. The waitress repeated it back to us, including the part with the takeaway cup. The barista comes over with the ice coffee and we said sorry but we asked for a takeaway cup, can you please put it in one for us?
The barista said sure no worries but later came back and abruptly placed the coffee in front of me with attitude, and it was legit in a takeaway cup without a lid. We had to ask the nice waitress for a lid, and she looked at it awkwardly and realised what happened.
After that, we didn't want to ask for anything else because the barista did not seem approachable.
Won't be returning to this place.
F. G.
Such a beautiful place to visit near Oberon.
We enjoyed a night in the "Glamping Tents" and walked the 150 acres of gardens. So much expense has gone into Mayfield and its wonderful that the public are invited to enjoy it be it for a day or weekend.
The staff at the kitchen cafe were very helpful and friendly especially Alan the manager who went to great lengths to provide vegetarian meals for my wife. Nothing was a problem.
Highly recommend a visit or two or three.
Oh and it's also dog friendly.
S. K.
The garden is beautiful and I recommend to anyone who's planning to visit here, also a perfect opportunity to take photos.
K. V.
Lovely surrounds, quality menu and ingredients. Lots of little things to do around the area like curling, ping pong, roasting marshmallows. Worthwhile to drop by here.
U. T.
Nice place for a day trip with the family, remember to bring an umbrella just in case
R. P.
Quite good food and service fantastic. May be they need half star improvements.
K. E.
Wonderful brunch which was customized due to not eating carbs at the moment. Wonderful colors and fresh tastes with produce straight from the garden.
R. T.
Beautiful cosy ambience, Food is good, staff is friendly specially the owner.
A. A.
staff are great
food was lovely
had both brekky and lunch there
would recommend
P. C.
Beautiful scenery outside and friendly service inside the cafe 👍
R. C.
Great place to enjoy a Sunday lunch with friends. Beautiful gardens.
S. C.
Got a takeaway coffee and it was the best, the flavour of the coffee and the way it was made was awesome, could of easy had another one but we were already on the road and staff were so lovely and great service, as we brought jam and a pen aswell, cheers Sheryl.
C. J.
Thought it was overpriced to see a garden. Others didn't think so as it was crowded..
P. M.
Service was friendly and quick food was nice although not a huge choice still enough to suit most tastes ,serves are generous prices are upper end of moderate
M. N.
Beautiful red and yellow leaves. Best Autumn garden
M. L.
Love it, highly recommend. Food is wonderful, staffs are superb and garden is amazing
G. S.
Nice place to visit
B. H.
Food was amazing, just need to update the playlist 😂
S. J.
There was only one girl waiting the floor, and she checked tables that she could see first (closer tables). This means that if you're sitting further away, you'll get to watch as others who sat down after you are served their meals before they even take your order! I would rather order at the counter and then wait for table service. I'm almost tempted enough to say I'd rather wait to collect the food myself - but depending on how many people in your group, there will be quite a bit to hold. The food itself took a bit of time, but was quite excellent. I do wish they would reconsider "full table service" as it's not quite viable with only one floor staff. food prices are a bit on the higher end, but definitely still reasonable.
J. M.
The food was excellent. I couldn't fault the service and the wine selection.. limited but really loved the Pinot Grigio I had. Took a photo of the name of the wine so that I could purchase. Highly recommend this place. The gardens were unbelievable.
A. T.
Hey, how ya goin? The food was delicious however very small portion sizes. I was given literally 9 pieces of gnocchi in my meal. It was good though. I must say that the staff were lovely and very attentive but we're not treated or spoken to very well by other customers around us. Please be nice to them as they really did a great job, especially during such busy times (October long weekend)
A. R.
Good Food, friendly staff and dog friendly.
Definetly Worth the price
T. H.
It was a nice time to spend. Beautiful garden with various botanical trees with name tags. Whole place is well decorated and maintained as well. Maze was nice to explore. Glamping at night was awesome experience but the toilet need to be clean every 3 hours as lots of people use it including normal visitor without glamping access. No electricity in glamping sight but it's not a big deal as the nature is beautiful. And last but not least food was awesome 10 out of 10
v. m.
Delicious food with a dessert to die for. The Chef is amazing at this place.
R. S.
Great kitchen and cafe area. The gardens are the best I have seen for diversity of landscape and plantings. Close too Oberon which has some great cafes and places to eat. An early start for Sydney for the 2.5 hour drive is a must so you arrive around 10am before it gets to bust. Opens at 9am. The drive was easy and the gardens are easy to find. Great roads for motorcycles if you come from North Sydney takes Bells...
S. I.
On a busy day, difficult to make reservations as all gets booked and the outside kiosk serves food only after 11.30am. The inside cafe will try to accommodate only if there are no reservations for a table on that time and can only be available for just half an hour or so. It's better to go prepared as the nearing town is few km away.
However the gardens are beautiful and worth paying $35 entrance fees per adult.
J. L.
Lovely lamb pie and cheeseburger. Drinks were great. Pumpkin soup underseasoned however a bit of salt fixed it. Nice place at lovely location. Great to seat under the outdoor gas heater after a day of walking around. Fire pit at the centre was valuable and kept everyone warm. Lovely to see chickens walking around. Awesome trip!
E. R.
Loved the gardens, we visited on a lovely day, lots of walking to see all parts of gardens, just magic, certainly worth the visit, we went mid week and very busy, large car park was into overflow area. Great little cafe attached, good coffee, it were struggling a bit the day we were there with many power outages normally have a good lunch selection judging from printed and black board menu, A lovely visit
M. D.
Food was delicious and the service was professional and efficient. We were given cushions for our seats and a rug for my friend's legs being it was a chilly 6 degrees. We will be back in spring !!
N. K.
Food was average and service was very slow. Waited 30 mins for a burger.
P. M.
Very well kept and maintained. Should go when its a bit warmer tho the flowers were still shy to come out because it was too cold. Otherwise a place thats worth visiting. Just a bit far, 1 hour drive from the main towns in BM.
H. K.
This place is massive. Love the autumn colours!
A. C.
We had lunch at the cafe after viewing the gardens. The staff were very helpful and service was extremely quick. Our meals were nicely presented and very tasty. We sat outside in the courtyard under a shady umbrella and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Even in hot dry conditions this was a scenic and enjoyable place to visit and eat.
L. W.
Friendly staff and beautiful location.
Slow service and badly set up, with the waiting line very, very close to already seated guests This really needs work especially in covid times.
We only had muffins (average) and tea because they were very busy.
A. M.
Great Cafe and amazing food. The waiters were extremely confused with the food ordered. Incorrect food came to our table more than 3 times. Taste and ambience is great. Will definitely visit again.
G. P.
Ordered large Mocha & large Hot Chocolate with pear & apple crumble + ice cream. Food & drinks were nice but we had all but finished our drinks before the food arrived.
S. P.
Good location and great flood except for the flies in summer.
M. L.
I am a little apprehensive about visiting the gardens. Mainly because as most people would travel a fair distance being as Oberon is a bit remote and would obviously like some refreshment or lunch and cannot find a menu anywhere except the rather limited cafe menu. I realise the menu would be seasonal but as quoted in the video they work on a menu for each season. Some of the reviews are a bit negative. It all seems a bit hit and miss. How about a full menu on the website or would we be better to bring our own food or stop in Oberon.
I wonder if anyone actually reads these or if they action them.
We might go to the Botanical Gardens instead. 🙁
M. A.
Very nice staff and food was amazing
R. B.
Best breakfast and coffee with really polite and we'll mannered staff thanks guys will be back for sure 🙂
R. J.
Beautiful place
J. S.
Lovely place to have lunch after a wonderful walk around Mayfield gardens
M. L.
Nice Restaurant, good foods but a bit pricey
V. A.
We were pleasantly surprised to discover the amazing food this place has to offer, especially given its remote location. The food was fresh and tasty and the staff were quite friendly.
D. d. M.
Lovely indoor and outdoor setting. Food is sensational (even if you gaup at the prices). Garden is best viewed in spring and autumn, though even in the cold of winter is a most impressive exhibit.
S. K.
Decent pie and soup. Expensive however.
K. P.
Great food, wonderful to come out of the cold weather at Mayfield gardens and warm up by the fire. Staff are very friendly and working very well even with the covid safety limitations placed upon them. Great atmosphere.
J.
Huge garden which The Kitchen Cafe is located
m.
Lovely garden cafe with site and locally sourced ingredients. The breakfast menu is very small, so you can't be too fussy. We were there for breakfast before commencing our exploration of the private gardens and were glad we did.
The vegetable and herb fritter tasted pretty good though slightly lacking in flavour, kinda overshadowed by the refreshing medley of crunchy beetroot salad and corn salsa accompanying it. The poached egg was fresh and flavourful, the quality of the egg seemed much better than any store bought eggs.
The Mayfield breakfast was delightful. The rosemary potatoes were cracking, crunchy and blistered, probably one of the best roast potatoes I've ever had. The goat cheese tasted good on its own but seemed like an odd one out that doesn't belong on the plate. Tomatoes were fresh and nicely roasted. The maple bacon was a nice balance of sweet and savoury but I've tasted better.
Overall, it's a good place to have a nice breakfast in a cosy country setting.
H. X.
Best visit during Easter holiday.
B. T.
A great place to go. Good food, good staff, fantastic gardens.
R. S.
Was surprise by how big and beautiful these gardens are.
E. R.
Great food. Great service. I recommend the burger, it was the best one I have had in a while. Food was slow to come out but the quality of food was a clear reason why. Location would assumably be a bit out of way for most people however if you are driving through this is well worth the stop.
The gardens itself were over-rated.
J. L.
Kitchen was good but very over priced $29 for four muffins I think is just ridiculous.Garden at this time of the year was pretty dull but that's expected for this season
T. B.
Great food and service, just remember to layer up if you sit outside as the weather can be unpredictable there.
D. S.
We had coffee, strawberry shake and blueberry muffins. Coffee was ok, shake was very good and muffin too. Didn't tried anything else as we were late.
Staff was very friendly.
J. T.
The wonderful cafe at Mayfield Gardens. The food was really good and the staff are lovely. There is merchandise (bags, hats, jams, pickles) you can purchase as well. It's great to come here after spending your day in Mayfield Gardens exploring.
S. P.
A great cafe inside a great garden.
D. D.
Despite booking, we had to wait 30 minutes for our table. Whilst this was annoying, we quickly forgot our displeasure when the food arrived. The tapas was absolutely stunning.
S. B.
Beautifully presented and delicious food and service.
Worth recommending too anyone wanting a great dining experience and an awesome garden to view.
D. A.
High quality cafe and nursery at the entrance to a remarkable gardening achievement. The Hawkin’s family have turned acres of grazing land into a landscaped parkland. Worth the admission and time to wander through it.
S. L.
Beautiful gardens, very expensive entry fee.
Good coffee, good food, grumpy staff. The 5 stars are for the gardens
T. R.
Great chicken burger. Friendly staff.
L. D.
Very nice friendly staff, we enjoyed our lunch there, the ice chocolate drink was extremely sweet though...
N. U.
Nice atmosphere, staffs are friendly but service time was long. Food was good but portions size was small.
A. X.
Delicious food and lovely patient staff! Highly recommend stopping by for a bite and booking a table ahead of time!
G. J.
Really slow service & food is not of the quality you would expect of a venue in such a great setting...a lot of improvement needed and some professional staff would not go astray!
L. M.
Tasty pizza. Fire provided to keep us warm outdoors on a cold winter's day.
S. R. V.
All together different experience. No words to express. Must visit place and you will also enjoy the food.
s.
Excellent food with friendly service. Can get a bit busy but we did not wait that long for the delcious food to arrive. Coffee was good too.
L. T.
We saw it on Better Homes and Gardens. Well worth the trip. Magnificent. Dog friendly too. Staff very friendly food superb too.
The gravel road entry needs a grading.
B. M.
Very friendly service and delicious food
J. C.
A mixed bag.
Friendly service that was slow.
Nice chips and aioli, however, milkshake was tepid.
Fans were good although air-conditioning would be better for summer days.
S. M.
The Gardens were amazing and well worth visiting. We will definitely be back to see the gardens in summer. The food in the cafe was delicious
B. W.
Yummy beef fillet, but it took so long to get it. Overstaffed on the floor and understaffed in the kitchen. These poor people weren't prepared for the volume of people coming for the autumn festival.
L. D.
Highly recommended, pleasant staff, the young lady, who served our coffees, such an asset, to the wonderful inviroment.
F. o. t. W.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Good choice of food and wine. Love the Philip Shaw selection. The best! Relax and listen to live music with great glass of wine.
M. T.
Had an amazing meal on a weekend away. Love the fact the food is grown on site. You could def taste the freshness
l. c.
Awesome food and atmosphere with great staff who never faulted under immese pressure. Will definitely be returning here!
S. K.
Really nice looking place but the food is very avarage besides nice presentation.
i.
Food was good, but selection small, due to "2020"
Service was prompt, but a little confused.
All in all, I would definitely give them another go
K. M.
Such a lovely place, the coffee and chicken and pesto sandwich was so good.
E. P.
Had a lovely lunch here. Beautiful atmosphere and surroundings. Amazing food, lovingly prepared and exceptionally served. I would definitely recommend a vidit. We will be back in the spring for sure.
J. S.
Nice food, nice setting, fantastic landscaped gardens to walk round and work up an appetite.

L. M.
Great food in the cafe, lovely location and grounds. Well worth the drive.
N. J.
Nice salads and pizza.
K. R. (.
Nice coffee
M. D.
The place looks amazing in autumn with all the leaves changing colour, would recommend that you allow plenty of time as you could spend a few hours walking around or row a boat along the lake.
B. H.
Friendly staff, good food and nice variety of drinks 😅🍔🍟🍷🍺
L. A. C. M.
Good food and nice place to visit.

A. F.
The food was excellent.
Glamping facilities not so hot though, no hot shower!
J. R.
Excellent coffee and what wonderful walk around the expansive gardens. This is one attraction near Oberon that you should not miss.
M. K.
The service is friendly and efficient, the venue is beautiful and the food is amazing. Perfectly priced and the pancake is a work of art!
N. E.

You should definitely stop by here after you visit The Gardens apart from the fact that there's nowhere else to go - The staff here are very helpful and the selection on the menu is top quality.
M. C.
Always love coming here, food is great, good portions and great variety.

S. K.
Staff here are cheerful with big smiles. Food is nice too.
J. S.
Best cappuccino in the area.Cakes were delicious and outdoor dining very pleasant.
P. P.
Coffee is great. Variety needs to be expanded, in my opinion.
A. G.
I love the garden but the food is a bit ordinary and the staff know next to nothing about the food and wine
T. K.
Coffee was nice.
H. S.
Nice food, locally sourced, made the trip out to the garden worth it for us.
G. M.
Food was fantastic, but service was amateur and disorganised. Need better systems to handle crowds.
B. M.
Best breakfast in a long time, service and ambiance superb. Need to make it a regular thing.
D. H.
Amazing place, well well worth the short drive from Bathurst..
R. S.
It's okay, very expensive, but aren't all tourist venues?

(Translated) The restaurant is located inside the Mayfield Gradens, practically at the main entrance near the parking lot. The place is certainly characteristic and is surrounded by many different vegetables and flowers. There are pergolas for outdoor dining. There are different types of vibo, from sandwiches to muffins and even a wood-burning oven for pizzas, which I tried and it wasn't bad. Very nice staff.
