Comments of The Mayflower
T. P.
The best brunch place I have ever had in Sydney. Must-try dish is French Toast, my friends and I cannot forget how delicious the taste is. The Ocean Trout is perfecttt as well.
Definitely go back one day soon. In love with this place 🥰🥰❤️❤️
D. P.
The coffee is delicious and everything I've eaten there has been at least 4 out of 5. So good. And the staff are always so friendly too.
J. S.
Coffee and food from here are absolutely *chefs kiss* and very unique. If you love high quality, hygienic, incredible food and drinks the mayflower is for you. Very photogenic not to mention great service =D It won't disappoint! I've only had great experiences here.
E. G. M.
Nice place, you can go underground and will find more tables. It can get loud since it is an small place, but the coffee and the food were great! I loved the veggie breakfast.
M.
Loved this cafe! The coffee was perfect! And the food was also delicious! Highly recommend! Make sure you get ready to take some photos! This cafe is 100% food instagrammable if you are a foodie blogger like me! 😊
R. S.
Recommended to book in advance, however under the current Covid circumstances not many people is out, so we walked in and we easily got a table.
Food was ok. Eggs Benedict quite average. I had better ones for less money.
Chicken katsu burger was very good.
Nice place to meet up with friends or even for a date.
Staff is very friendly and kind.
T. N.
Delicious food and drinks. We got the eggplant and cauliflower, Vietnamese coffee and Persian Chic mocktail. All yum!
Service was friendly and food presentation was great! The cafe is also beautiful 😍
Love the creative menu eg rambutan cocktail 🍹
J. L.
The french toast was out of this world - it's got to be the best I've ever had! The mandarin pieces on top were the perfect addition to spice up your average french toast. The chicken katsu was also the biggest piece of burger filling I've ever seen and it was freshly fried and super crispy... so good...
The only downside is that the seating area downstairs had a horrible smell, probably from the cooking fumes that couldn't be aired out. But the decor was very pretty nonetheless.
C.
A beautiful cafe ! I personally enjoyed the interior more than the food. First of all, booking was easy and accurate. I booked a table for two and was 15 minutes late but customer service was super friendly and kept our table. A very welcoming vibe and quite spacey. They also have a clean bathroom downstairs of the cafe --> super convenient !
As for the food, I thought it was quite pricey for the portion. The Ferrero french toast was incredible ! Definitely satisfied my sweet-tooth cravings, however the cheeseburger was super standard and was nothing special about it considering the price (and didn't come with fries or a small side of salad). Food wasn't very filling, I wouldn't come here hungry but for instagram photos? sure. Would suggest slightly bigger portions for the value, but other than that it was a good experience !

I woke up early in the morning to visit and have a coffee with my friends Saiifonz and Cindy at the Mayflower in Sydney. The Mayflower is truly a place where time stands still and where your experience is our priority. Everywhere I turned, I saw pieces of art and culture instilled inside this beautiful cafe.
From the outside and the entrance, it looks like a normal café, but once you walk down the stairs, you see the true magic. I ordered a double espresso and a chocolate croissant. Let’s say I started the day in a French way. The coffee had a super rich and syrupy body, as described on the roaster’s website. It was a darker roast with flavors of caramelised sugars, molasses, and dark spices. The aftertaste was long-lasting and intense. The flat white looked delicious, the milk was smooth, shiny, and silky and the latte art was well centered, used all available space and the contrast was strong too.
I love the interior design and especially the flowers, placed on the tables or hanging from the ceiling. The marble stone tables are beautiful too, so solid that you can feel the power of nature. The plates, the cups and saucers as well as the knife and the spoon match perfectly and show the passion for details of the team that has created this place.
The customer service was outstanding too. Therefore, I decided to come back after my discovery tour through Sydney and to have a light lunch. As I had additional delicious pastry during my walk, I asked Saiifonz for a light lunch. It is always great when skilled baristas know the menu and suggest. I went for the tuna tartare; a light and tasty sensory experience.
S. K.
I throughly enjoyed my brunch, I opted for the gravlax ocean trout and ricotta toast and it was delicious, as was the coffee.
The seating area is just very small and becomes very hot and stuffy in the heat from outside and the kitchen. I would eat there again.
N. B.
This place was amazing!!! The food was sooo delicious and staff were so nice and attentive. I honestly can't get over how good the food was. The mac and cheese was to die for! And the coffee was great too. We are definitely coming back!!
R. Y.
It is first time for us to come down here. Coffee on the point! Fon knows exactly how to accentuate the coffee! Adi is amazing on the element! Adi has been in the industry for decade! He know exactly what he is doing. Food is incredibly good! We had the berkshire burger( so juicy good), tuna tartare is very refreshing with watermelon in it! Ocean trout house cure is also completely put us into food coma! Thank you for the amazing service! And we love also the pink decor and the scent. Amazing team work! Can't wait for the truffle season!
N. E.
Small cosy shop with very friendly staff. Wasn't super busy so the service was great. The Truffle Croque Monsieur tasted as good as it looked, very rich in flavour with the melted cheese. A nice place to spoil yourself during the lockdown blues.
R. A.
A cute cosy cafe with beautiful decor. Great coffee, even when you’re taking away. The food was scrumptious, good quality! Friendly staff, a must visit!
C. L.
Food was amazing. Service was fast and friendly. Love the French toast!!
N. S.
Super cute cafe! A bit annoying to get to as you have to walk up hill/down hill, and the restaurant seating downstairs is super hot (no AC). The food was really good and the service was amazing, but the price did not match quantity, only quality.
S. D.
Those 1 star-reviews should understand about basic things before they wrote something for review a service/product.
After the freaking long time with Covid 19 lockdown.
My first time having time for a Sunday breakfast with my mrs. Firstly, I saw a few hype posts about this venue on Instagram and can't wait to try em out. After reading some reviews with below 3 stars, I was concern about this. However, our visit to this small lovely venue worth every penny!
Starting off with a friendly greet from Siphone the supervisor of the venue. We ordered Croque Monsieur-Big breakkie-egg on toast-cauliflowers as well as 2 coffees. Food, Coffee, Service was amazing. Base on my 7 years experience working in hospitality industry. Please try the Croque Monsieur with some sides scramble egg, they won't let you down.
Moreover, staffs were friendly and carefully check back with us about everything even they were packed. Shoutout to the kitchen team for 4 plates placed on our table after 15 mins waited at the same time.
Finally, All of the bad reviews are completely non-sense and I am truly happy with my visit to the Mayflower Darlinghurst and sooner to their bigger destination at St Leonards. Can't wait to be there and tryout the new menu.
L. W.
Great restaurant, the food was of high quality and taste. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was great. Lots of options on the menu, we came in with no expectation and were impressed. I highly recommend this place for a great dining experience.😊👍🏼
N. T.
Definitely on the pricier side but worth the experience. If you’ve wanted to try what real truffle tastes like come here for the croque monsieur which you can get topped with a layer of plain truffle (which honestly doesn’t taste like anything) and tastes the same without it. I’d say it was the highlight since at least the truffle paste gave a strong flavour and the bread was nicely buttered and toasted. The lobster roll was placed alongside crisps which was a bit strange. The roll itself was alright with black caviar sitting on top. Eggs benedict were delicious but worth it? Not really. Ferrero rocher toast was mediocre.
Come if you’re willing to spend a bit on trying real truffle and caviar but everything else is quite overpriced.
C. K.
Delicious brekkie. I had the Big Veggie and Capp. All very good and such a nice atmosphere sitting at the outdoor table. Friendly staff and they take credit cards for out-of-towners like me.
L. G.
My wife kept asking asking me to go there for the sandwiches. We finally went and it was really great, everything we expected and a bit more. We ordered a couple of sandwiches for lunch and a coffee and they were really nice, we will definitely come back. Absolutely recommend.
N. G.
This place was an experience within its self.. The decorum was lovely, best croque Moncier I have ever had, everyone needs to Order it!!! Lobster roll was good but not amazing. Could have been a bit more juicy imo. Polenta fries were good but a little bit dry! Over all great time!!! Highly recommend
I. M.
The place is a cool vibe and the food was good! A bit pricey but nevertheless tasty.
Only eh part is the basement (indoor seating) gets really, really loud, and it’s a bit cramped.
Service was great though. We had a very kind, Latin-American server who was quick and friendly.
S. Y.
Mayflower’s opening comes with a refreshed menu and a whole new look. We tried the ocean trout gravlax which I highly recommend - melt in your mouth fresh! The tart was light yet rich in flavour, went down a treat. I will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. Do yourself a favour, grab some friends and give the caviar tasting a go! Great service & beautiful, thoughtful decor.
M. A.
This place looks pretty and 'instagram worthy', but don't let that fool you - they focus on the quality of the food on their menu and the hatted chefs certainly deliver. I thoroughly enjoyed the truffle croque monsieur with 3 types of cheese and prosciutto and the caviar taster. My wife had the lobster roll, also served with caviar and I'm pleased to say she enjoyed her first caviar experience. Between the two of us, she's the pastry addict and she mentioned that the glazed French toast with berries, ricotta and jam was the best she's ever had. Highly recommend this place and I can't wait to go back for their caviar menu.
K. S.
Food was good but a little on the pricey side.
M. T.
Nice brunch here. Very friendly. Good food!
s. t.
Really cosy place to visit for brunch plus the delicious foods will melt u away❤️👍 ; bit hot down if u visit in summer season. And u would definitely wanna try out their cauliflower dish, it’s amazing... Overall perfect place to grab a brunch with ur anyone.. Enjoy..
N. B.
I’ve been to this place several times and they never served the croque with truffle. I even checked with them before coming if truffle was available and they said yes. Guess what, it wasn’t. I guess it would be more honest to let me know it’s not available before I made my order. The rest of the food was average. Don’t recommend at all.
M. R.
Its ok for picture purpose. Food is also ok for the price. But didn’t like the waitress/service lady on the counter! No idea why she asked me to wait outside the almost empty cafe for my takeaway latte and muffin! As far as I knew there were no Covid restrictions at that time (Saturday afternoons, about two weeks ago) !
H. S.
Oh what an amazing place this is! I had lunch here with a colleague and it was incredible. I got the Bacon & Egg roll with a side of halloumi, all cooked to perfection.
PS - the hot chocolate is made with real melted chocolate. Delish!!!
K. C.
The food here is very pretty and average. Good tastes throughout but not particularly outstanding. The space is certainly ambient as it is very photographic with its flowers hanging from the columns. Had the Ferrero Rocher toast, ocean trout gravlax, Croque Monsieur, polenta chips and tuna tartare. The cold drip coffee here is good.
W. 1.
New hidden gem in Darlinghurst. Cute little restaurant with great staff service and tapas Mediterranean style food for dinner. The Wagyu beef was delicious as was the octopus. Definitely worth checking out.
J. D.
A nice lunch spot on the fancier side. Lots of caviar options available and a nice wine list. The space downstairs in small but beautifully decorated. All the staff were lovely.
D. Y.
Really nice place, service attentive, expensive end of brunch. The croque monsieur was yummy But very heavy. The 2 of us split it and we still found it heavy.
Gravlax and meringue were both beautifully presented and delicious.
Sitting outside on a slope and tiny table was a bit tricky to eat (cutlery sliding off 3 times).
C. C.
Delicious offerings, be it Croqué Monsieur, French toast, granola, their grilled kingprawns or their cocktails. I enjoyed my rambutan sour at 10:00am very much too!
T. S.
Best coffee in the hood. Awesome food. Friendly staff. Winner venue, can't recommend highly enough.
O. C.
Such a lovely space; quite cosy! The service was a little slow, but the food was fantastic. What a great place for brunch with a friend.
A. L.
If you’re looking for a cafe to which you can enjoy the atmosphere and hella good food. Look no further, I do however recommend you make a booking where possible to ensure your place.
The service is friendly and professional and there is BYO available where they will provide you with glasses
If you’ve never liked caviar and think it tastes fishy, the beluga here will change your mind. Melts with flavour with no gamey after-taste with the additions of their sides which I found enticing (usually I hate fishy dishes).
I’d also recommend the truffle toast (bigger portion than the photo I found) and the ocean trout. Especially their coffee as well!!
Seriously one of the only places in Sydney I’d have my coffee without sugar and will feel absolutely safe with the quality every-time ! I asked and it’s because their compressor is automated and consisted by machine and their coffee machine times to ensure it comes out just right !
Photos are credited to their Instagram as I’m not much of a photographer... ENJOY !! ❤️🙏🏻
S. Y.
Excellent food! You must try the caviar. The artisan flower arrangements really add to the atmosphere at Mayflower. I would definitely go back 👍🏻
B. L.
Cute cafe venue. Food was a bit overpriced for what it was. The truffle Mac we shared was really good but the tuna tartare was a bit average, small and flavourless for $33.
w. c.
Loved the truffle croque monsieur, was definitely worth the wait (keep in mind there can be a bit of a wait on weekends as it gets busy!) Friendly service and pretty decor.
C. S.
A bougie cafe with a pink hue setup in the basement, menu selection is a little limited so hopefully they can extend that.
B. L.
Cute cafe venue. Food was a bit overpriced for what it was. The truffle Mac we shared was really good but the tuna tartare was a bit average, small and flavourless for $33.
M. M.
Absolutely divine food from a talented chef, caring staff and great vibe. Been there for breakfast, lunch and now dinner. Go there!!
C. R. C.
Crispy but dry almond croissant 🥐
Nice coffee
Need to come back for the Vietnamese food
While I read my book I can smell the spices yum
S. S. j.
Great service. Food was awesome. Owner is lovely. Would recommend
C. C.
Delicious offerings, be it Croqué Monsieur, French toast, granola, their grilled kingprawns or their cocktails. I enjoyed my rambutan sour at 10:00am very much too!
e.
on the expensive side but food was really good, great service, really pretty decor and cute cafe
K. P.
Great food, great staff, amaaaaaazing coffee. What more can you ask from an amazing cafe such as Brewristas. Try their vermicelli bowls - super tasty!
A. M.
An absolute beautiful place! The decor is so elegant and clean. I can’t fault the food it was delicious, ordered the ocean trout gravlax with the truffle shavings add on, croque monsieur and truffle hot chocolate. Thank goodness for truffle season because it added that extra melt in your mouth deliciousness. The staff are attentive and so friendly. The owner Kevin is a gem and very caring. My little nephew couldn’t getting his eyes off the array of gorgeous flowers and they kindly provided a high chair too. I will be returning for sure! Don’t miss out on this place!!!
J. R.
Great little Cafe/ restaurant, awesome service and amazing menu
M. I.
I love the Mayflower! The food is incredible, with each element perfectly balanced and tasty. The coffee is really good too, plus the whole place is beautiful. I love how you can go for a simple but delicious eggs on toast, a bit lush with the trout gravlex or all out with the lobster roll and cavier. Really suits all tastes and budgets, with always friendly staff.
I would highly recommend the king prawns with uni butter and Ferrero Rocher french toast.
Update: I was gifted the Mayflower takeaway tiramisu and it was amazing! Perfect dessert treat for lockdown.
S. V. B.
Went to this beautiful cafe today, seeing it on Instagram previously I was excited to see what it was about knowing it just opened. Absolutely amazing interior downstairs and the food was so well presented and AMAZING. I had the fig and buratta which was such a treat, so awesome. The only reason I gave 4 stars as the service was quite slow (understandable tho as they only just opened). So We waited a little longer then expected for our food.
But overall great venue.
R. L.
Just grabbed a quick tasty coffee before a medical appointment. Great service and coffee was super yummy. My girl's loved their hot chocolates too. Will come back again when next in Darlinghurst.
A. C.
Great service and amazing food! Definitely one to check out. Mayflower roll was our pick!
M. E.
Although a little small, the set out is pretty and picturesque. The staff are very efficient and friendly. A few items in my opinion are a little overpriced but still very tasty and well presented. Only major disappointment was the limited availability of the beverages options.
K.
Delicious colourful creative food, great for those who love truffle. Friendly service, lovely atmosphere and decor. And fyi, the marble stools downstairs around the communal marble table are not stuck to the floor, they just weigh 100kg each!
C. F.
The gravlax that isn't lax but trout is an incredible dish. So well balanced and tasty. Really eats as beautifully as it it looks. And the truffle croque monsieur is so decadent and rich. Pastries and coffee are also excellent. Decor, music, service and chill vibes are all on point. Can't wait to try more from the menu.
D. B.
Small, but great service and very nice food
e.
on the expensive side but food was really good, great service, really pretty decor and cute cafe
J.
We visited the cafe on the weekend, it was 32 degree outside and the cafe was packed and very very hot downstairs. The cafe needs a better aircon / ventilation for sure. Instagrammable cafe. Tasty croque monsieur. My friend ordered the Mayflower roll and it was good.
N. N.
I wish I could give this 6 stars. Food is beyond expectations, staff are warm and friendly, and the decor is gorgeous.
V.
The kind of cafe that people will just come once for instagram picture because the decoration is full on. Food is good. The basement sitting definitely need better ventilation or stronger aircon, we walk out smells like just finished work in the kitchen..
G.
I went here a few months ago with my parents after things started opening up from COVID and I have to say, the coffee was amazing, the food was good but the caviar and truffle train is one that I cannot get on. Decor was beautiful too!
M. C.
Dinner was fantastic. The Toothfish was an incredible dish. Also very cool how the chef comes to your table to add special details as your plate gets put down. Well done guys, we’ll be back soon
A.
Very pretty cafe and easy to get to. Ordered the cauliflower and a masala chai latte. The cauliflower was great and packed with flavour. Would definitely visit again sometime soon
T. N.
Love this place , great service and food every time.
S. S. j.
Great service. Food was awesome. Owner is lovely. Would recommend
C. S.
The flavours were amazing, staff friendly and venue fantastic. I would definitely recommend dinner to anybody looking for a fresh lot of dishes. Try the tuna entree and tooth fish main.
Z. Z.
Very original and yummy. Try the cauliflower side and the black pork katsu (the juiciest and tastiest katsu I’ve tasted). The Tooth Fish is also extremely creamy and tasty the taste lingers a long time on the tongue. Also very romantic with an unbeatable ambience.
J. E.
Good coffee, friendly guys. The outside tables are great unless it's windy. Downstairs is nice and quiet. I haven't tried the rolls, but the ham and gruyere toastie is THE BOMB!
I kind of want to make it 4.5 stars as I would love it if they had wifi.
Update: there's wifi! 5 stars all the way!
C.
Scrumptious food and friendly service.
B. C.
Amazing fresh dishes that aren't crazy high Sydney cafe prices , a healthy menu inspired by Vietnamese ingredients and lots of vegeterian options , run by such a lovely owner and team of staff.
🍄Mushroom bowl was the dish I tried and it was made in under 5 mins and tasted incredible.
Hidden gem that you gotta try!
H. L.
I would say this was a mediocre experience.. interior is very pretty i will admit, however the food is not really anything special. It's quite expensive also considering the quality and taste. customer service was ok though!
C.
I’ve been coming here for a while now and their coffees are really good especially Vietnamese iced coffee. It saved me during this heatwave. ohhh and the food is amazing too like the chicken banh mi, definitely will come back for more!!
S. G.
Very nice coffee and croissants, chilled vibe even at peak hours, it’s a sure caffeine pit-stop whenever in the ‘hood - even with my two hyper toddlers who are always welcome and treated very friendly by the staff. Thumbs up!
T. W.
Amazing truffles!! THE BEST I have ever had. LATE POST though. missing you guys- since the lockdown
E. Y. (. T. W.
Tasty Croque Monsieur and very pretty decor but the downstairs area seemed to smell of sewage when I was seated against the wall under some pipes.
r. R.
Great service and wonderful cosy brunch spot
Y. P.
Great petit coffe shop. Their Soy Latte is excellent!. Low fat and enough calories to start my Monday morning. Reasonably priced.
K. A.
Good coffee, average food. Trying a little bit too hard to be trendy as well. There are better options all over Darlinghurst, but if you live close by it's a good option
I. A.
The food was not as amazing as I thought it would be. it was mediocre really. The salmon had a weird taste to it in my opinion abd so I felt kind of turned off. the french toast tasted a lil eggy.
HOWEVER
Thai place is super cute and would be a great place to have coffee. The service is amazing. One of the staff members was askedby customer to take photos and he dedicated his time an dout so much energy into it. The place also has great ambiance so although I wasn't fan of the food Thai place was still super cute
K. W.
Fabulous new cafe in darlo with the cutest decor both upstairs and in the downstairs dining space.
Definitely try the truffle Croque monsieur!
Also, coffee is consistently fantastic. Will definitely be back in a couple days 😄
J. G.
Great food great service, we were driving from Canberra and we’re running late over the weekend due to car trouble and they held a table for us which was very kind as they were very busy and a hard place to get a table originally.
A. S.
This is one of my favourite cafe's. Hidden away in the streets of Darlinghurst, has great coffee, nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
Thanks for providing an awesome place to enjoy my coffee!
B. M.

(Translated) It seems that a fee will be charged if you pay by card. A total of $ 9 for such a small cup.
It tastes good, but it's not particularly wonderful.
Ice long black
Sourness is quite strong and bitterness is normal to strong
At this time, it seems to be Colombian beans.
Regular flat white
It was my favorite taste, but the price is high, so I think it's not frequent.
