First time at Hello Sam and will be back. Good indoor / outdoor seating, friendly and attentive service, food came pretty quick, went with a McSam for first visit, was tasty, patties good and seasoned well, little bit of bun collapse at the end, fries good. Half star taken off for meat juices on platter, needed 1/2 mins to rest but minor quibble, lots of options and look forward to next visit to try some other burgers

Pretty good burger Beef tasted fresh and the burger was a nice size. Could have done with a bit more salt in the patty to my taste. Sweet potato chips were better than standard potato (would be good if they came with a dipping sauce, aoli etc given the prices)

These are from the new vegan menu at Hello Sam. It’s so new I can’t even find the names of the dishes online. Once I find them I’ll update the review. The food is incredible. The loaded fries are the best I’ve had and whatever mock meat is in them is unbelievably realistic. The burger was messy but so good to eat. I will definitely be going back soon!!!

Been wanting to try their burgers since the lockdown. The chance came up when we were looking for a place on a busy Saturday night along Chapel Street. We got the Popcorn Chicken Fries the “Popcorn” component which was the fried chicken was crispy and excellently seasoned, although I felt they went over board with the hot sauce drizzle which made the fries soggy and a tad bit sour. For the burgers we got the Uncle Sam and Too Cheesy, the burger patty were standard, and buns could be better. Furphy beer on tap was cheap. Overall, the place is your average burger joint, although I can say the service was exceptional! Might give the chicken burger a try next time.

Been meaning to get to this spot for a while, and it definitely was worth the wait. The animal style loaded fries were a stand out for me, the flavour of the sauce and onions was spectacular - and the amount of topping was very generous. I opted for the classic Sam burger with added bacon, which was simple but flavourful, although I found the patty to be on the dry side. The atmosphere was great, with ample seating and good music, and the service was prompt and friendly. Overall reccomend that you check this place out!

Had a recommendation to head to Hello Sam and try the vegan Cheezburger. Not only wanting to cut our red meat intake down but we also heard it was better than a real red meat cheeseburger. It didn't disappoint... The burger was phenomenal and I loved every last bit! We got chips and sriacha vegan mayo as well - the whole deal! Pair that with the fact we were able to be outside at a table again with our pup plus a beer in hand, and it was just a 10 out of 10 experience. Covid safe plan was easy to follow and the service people didn't make us feel like it was too strict to be outside finally. Great meal!

Love this place! One of the best lunch deals in the area, with amazing burger selection, chips & drink for just $15! I was totally starving when I got there so choose the most fatty option lol Got the fried chicken which was super tasty! Absolutely lovely service and very interesting menu. The Nutella fries were fantastic (albeit very rich so only get them if you’re seriously hungry). We also tried the Sam the Man and Bacon Bird burgers. The fried chicken burger was perfect while my only note on the beef-burger was that the patty was a tad over-cooked so I’d suggest asking them to make a little more rare and a little less medium. Chuck a couple of beers on top and the whole thing came up to 60$ which is very reasonable for the quality and quantity of the meal. Would defo recommend.

Casual eatery serving up some delicious and juicy burgers! Great place with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Hello Sam serves a variety of different burgers and sides, I tried the juicy Lucy, which had cheese inside the meat too, it was pretty good and extra cheesy, be careful, as the cheese that comes out of the meat is extra hot. Price is standard for a burger and fries at around $22. The place was spotless and the staff were friendly. Limited street parking is available, you can park underground for cheap parking, starts at $3 for the first hour. All in all, must try for burger lovers!

There are a lot of great burger places in Melbourne. This is one of them. What makes Hello Sam unique to other great places is their use of onions and cheese (with many different uses of cheese). Onions are almost always supportive and are less hit you on the first bite and more as you work through. It's an interesting take, and definitely worth your time.

What a memorable 18th birthday party my son had on Saturday 21st February! Katherine and her team saved the day when I could no longer host this event at home. I chose the venue from google maps as it is in a fabulous location on Chapel Street and then I had a conversation with the owner Katherine about my needs. Having never visited the venue she face-timed me so I could see it (I was more than 5km away). Well this friendly, professional customer service secured the booking. I felt relieved and so comfortable. Twenty-five young adults were happily seated on a long table altogether for a 6pm dinner. They were responsibly served HAPPY HOUR drinks during the two hour function (if over 18) and ate delicious meals. The menu had something for all the young adults and they told me the burgers were deliciously juicy, crunchy chips and the service so friendly. Staff brought out the enormous cake too, lit with 18 candles and then served it to the group as well as taking group photos for me! What amazing service. I felt like a friend was running the birthday dinner. The kids headed off down Chapel Street to bars and I returned to pay an extremely reasonable bill and pick up gifts and leftover cake. I can't wait to return and eat a burger myself! Grazie!!!

SUPER tasty burgers, I had the Juicy Lucy and the cheese oozed out of the soft patty just how I wanted. I've tried many burger places in Melbourne and this place is definitely up there. Great customer service from Ross as well, the staff here will always look after you. They even provide wet towels after you devour their food which is a nice touch I don't see many places do, its the small things that matter. Plus you might even spot a few supercars when sitting outside, always a bonus!

Best vegeterian burger (truffle shuffle) I've had in my life. It melts in the mouth, and I've had my meat-loving friends try this and love it too! My partner had the Big McSam (Double) and he found the meat PERFECTLY cooked medium rare. The jackfruit fries have the texture of pulled pork, but are VEGAN, and I'm scooping every remainder of that sauce. I wish I had a picture, but I ate it less than 10 minutes, THAT GOOD!

If I could give this place six stars I would, they are the best!!!! Their food is delicious, especially their fried chicken burgers and their vegetarian patty. Also the staff are fantastic, always cheerful and polite. One time I had a problem with ordering via Uber Eats (the problem was at the Uber end of things) and they spent a lot of time on the phone with Uber and with me to sort it out and made sure that still got my order (which was awesome, as always). Highly recommend!

Great burger place. They have a decent range of vegetarian burgers, the two (of three) that I've tried have both been excellent. The store is a little weird in that it's order at the counter and yet it feels a little unnatural to do so, this is not their fault so much as the layout feeling very much like you should sit and wait for your order to be taken (and guard the table). The staff are friendly and the burgers came in a reasonable amount of time. The range of drinks is very good as well. From Milkshakes to Soft drinks to Beers, everything is covered. Given that most of the seating is outside, this place may not be the best choice for a boiling hot day, but is otherwise very well located. As far as price goes, it probably fits into the Gourmet category with 6 burgers, fries and drinks costing ~$120 (team lunch). Would eat here again.

Nice vibe. Good amount of veg in the burger. If you're after salady bits. Beef patties are a little small and aren't cooked pink as is printed on their menu. Other reviews tend to agree that they overcook. There are better burgers within 700m of this place.

I only ordered from the burger and chips menu. I went for the sweet potato chips and they were nice and crunchy. As for the burger I had the spicy Sam. I quite enjoyed the jalapeno popper on top however the burger itself could have done with a few more jalapenos inside it. Fairly certain they use a brioche bun too which I'm still torn about. They keep the water in the cooler which is a nice touch. Note it's not table service. You have to order at the counter.

I used to go here once a week until they changed the menu and removed the awesome sausages they had. The burgers are pretty good and consistent and service is usually prompt. The chicken burger wasn't anything special, but their Bonanza is a very solid burger that goes great with their cheese and BBQ n'Bacon chips. The only real negative is that their kitchen exhaust fan is way too close to the eating area and can make you feel a bit nauseous.

Similar to most good burger joints in terms of quality and price, meaning it's expensive but I can't complain about the food. I had the Juicy Lucy which has a mozzarella stuffed beef patty and an extra fried chicken patty, would recommend. They also do milkshakes which I consider essential, and was satisfied despite my first choice of chocolate being unavailable. The chilli cheese fries are also decent. I tried the Big McSam and it was delicious, I would definitely recommend. The staff were also very friendly. Great example of how to win over customers.

I gave Hello Sam 5 stars, this was based on past experiences and being one of my use-to-be Fav burger places with my Fav mushroom burger... (I even took all my friends here on my birthday). Having said that though, the menu recently got updated and my Fav (and only burger I could eat here) was taken off the menu, so unfortunately I haven't come back since! But do not let that discourage you! If you eat meat, then this place is awesome!

I went to Hello Sam for dinner last night and all up I must say that I was a bit disappointed. I ordered the Uncle Sam on the Big Sams menu with 1 pattie. What arrived not only looked but also tasted like a mcdonalds cheese burger. There was no lettuce (my fault, I assumed that it would have come with it) and as such looked very small and plain. The meat was cooked well done and was dry, even though we were one of about 4 occupied tables they still managed to over cook it. My girlfriend ordered the Sam-Brero which was definitely a step up (deceptive given the 'Big Sam' part of the menu) but was still underwhelming in flavour. The burgers lacked any sort of flavour that would set them out from other burger places and they were poorly presented, with zero presence on the plate. I went home hungry which was disappointing. While it wasn't bad, it wasn't good either. We won't be going back any time soon, we will be going to somewhere like Grill'd, Mr Burger or Ziggy's that is more than just a Maccas burger without the side of guilt. On a positive note, the chips were nice.

Had a Too Cheesy with grilled onions instead of red. The burger was perfect, right down to the light charring on the inside of the brioche bun. Only sore point was beer selection: Melbourne Bitter, Peroni, and Stone & Wood Pacific pale. Would have loved a selection of local craft beers to wash down my meal.
