Fantastic experience! Was brought here by loved ones as a surprise birthday dinner and I enjoyed every minute of it! As someone who hasn't been back to my hometown in America for three years I was overcome with so much nostalgia and the authenticity of it all!
The staff was so friendly and talented - it was so impressive to watch them roll around on skates and break out into dance numbers, wow!!! Food was delicious, music was so immersive, and finally, it's accessible for mobility-aid users! 10/10 would recommend! 😁
H. T.
Always an excellent experience! Great customer service, though you can see some of the staff are learning since coming out of lockdown. They're doing a good job!
Food is always consistently tasty and the vibes are off the chart.
S.
By far the most interesting part is the style, the 50's style diner is truly unique and is something worth experiencing. The food was ok, honestly nothing too special but still pretty enjoyable. Staff were also friendly and prices weren't too bad, overall if your not too picky about food but want a great and truly distinctive atmosphere, this is the place for you!
R. T.
Food took ages to come out however over all a fun experigood with the dancing and fifties music, the shake was great and the burgers were pretty good
L.
An amazing experience! Food was delicious and very reasonably priced, staff were so friendly and give off a great vibe! Loved the dance that the staff would do every few hours! Definitely recommend going if you're looking for a fun 50s American diner experience.
F. C.
OMG! The food and ambience here is amazing! Loved the hot chilli dog especially since it was very unique and had a nice smoky flavour to it. The chocolate milkshake was rich and thick too. The staff did a lil dance as well, quite typical in some American restaurants. A must visit for some good ol authentic American food!
M.
Family fun night out with tasty 50 diner food. Great entertainment and customer service.
T. E.
Great atmosphere, good food. A live band was playing the night we were there and lots of patrons got up and danced. Only thing missing was they were out of cherry pie!
A. x.
Soda Rock Diner has a great atmosphere. The staff serve you on skates and the theme is great!
The shakes were delicious! So thick and I love that the give you the leftover shake so you can top up your glass.
Unfortunate things went a little downhill from there.
The service is pretty poor. Considering there was only a couple of other people...it felt like I was constantly looking around to flag down waitstaff.
For an American themed restaurant, you'd expect big portions..but you'd be disappointed.
No one was hungry but plates were left clean when we'd expect left overs.
Chilli "fries" were made with thick cut chips which was a bummer. The chilli itself was superb but the serve size left us wanting more.
Things picked up again for dessert which was amazing.
Overall though, it was just ok. Some things were great and others were poor. I was not disappointed going there but I wouldn't return.
A. H.
amazing and unique diner! lovely atmosphere, good vibes, good music! our server was Jack (or michelle obama.. couldn’t tell😂) Jack’s service was above and beyond🙌🏻 cracking good jokes as always! it was such an amazing experience! highly recommend and will be back❤️
N. F. T.
Great restaurant to try for its uniqueness and stunning interior. The jukebox and pinball machine really added to everything and the service was amazing ! waitresses were on roller-skates the entire time
However, The food was quite simple and average tasting, the hotdog and burger were too bland and food was a bit overpriced. the presentation was just alright, we enjoyed the chocolate shake the most out of everything we ordered.
This place is mostly for the atmosphere, its simply a fun restaurant that is worth trying !
J. T.
Awesome staff, friendly vibe and delicious food. Great little show during dinner too. Definitely worth a visit
L. B.
Soda Rock Diner is definitely a place you want to go if you really want to enjoy being in a restaurant rather than just food! The atmosphere really brought me back to America and Elvis Presley, with beautifully designed interiors, two pin-ball games and also some waiters on roller-skates. The food although a little bit dear, was quality and was quite filling (and catered for vegetarian options). The highlight was the deserts and the milkshakes, though be careful if you haven't had a 'spider' before :D Would definitely recommend to family and friends if you want a tasty and enjoyable dine out!
W. H.
Food was okay, service was outstanding and the performances from the staff (yes, they perform dances, we're really fun!! All in all a fun night out!!
G. H.
Classic 50s vibes, roller skates, and tasty burgers. What more could you want? They even have a solid rock and roll playlist to set the theme.
A. M.
This was my second time here and much like the first time, I had an amazing experience. This retro styled restaurant is situated perfectly in south yarra and the food it provides 100% consolidates that it deserves the location it has. The thickshakes tasted incredible and were the perfect thickness (moreover, the extra amount was given to us on the side, which was great). The burgers were amazing - my only complaint... that I didn't get 2. Loved the environment, loved the food and loved this place - will be back all the time
B. W.
Great energy and atmosphere. Food took 40mins to come and burgers were pretty basic, however still happy with the experience
N. M.
I really enjoyed visiting Soda Rock Diner. The service was prompt and very friendly, not to mention they were on skates! Someone selected a song and the wait staff came out and danced in unison. 😍 I loved every minute of the retro American theme. The burgers were amazing! I didn't order a sundae but I watched them meticulously prepare one and you could tell they had pride in their job, which was really nice to see. Definitely recommend visiting this place! 👌
H. S.
Loved this place! Stepped back in time when I walked into this Diner. The staff serve your meal on rollerskates and danced to the jukebox songs. Food is great! Fun experience for young and old. Vegan burger available, and curly fries!
L. V.
Nice American feel dinner. Skates and all. Worth a visit.
H. P.
Great decor and vibe - plenty of fun. Food is very average, at high prices (think $24 for a basic burger combo, $11 for 6 nuggets without anything else) - but you're really paying for the experience more than the cuisine! The ice cream sundaes were the highlight of our meal by far, and much better value than the mains. Service was friendly but patchy - they forgot a few simple requests (ie cutlery), but we enjoyed the dance performance. We came for my daughter's birthday and she had a great time, but probably won't be back.
J. R.
Great fun atmosphere for everyone. Roller-skating wait staff add to the fun. Delicious food, juke boxes at your table and dance routines by the staff. A fun time stepping back to the 50's
S.
It has been many many years since I've been able to come here. New digs, but the same wonderful slice of Americana I recall from the music to the Elvis themed memorabilia, the decor, the food and the roller skating waitresses.
Truly a treat. Comfy booth seats are a winner.
A.
Such an amazing experience, the atmosphere was vibrant and lively, the waiters and waitresses move around on rollerskates and the whole diner has an amazing vibe. My family and I ordered the chicken burger, the fish burger, a slice of apple pie and the banana milkshake. All tasted amazing, the price was a bit high but the whole experience was definitely worth it. Only issue was that the service was a bit slow but understandable as it was very busy.
S. E.
Classic American diner style fast food if that's what you're looking for. Always a fun atmosphere and waiting staff all dressed up. Had the chilli dog which is everything you'd expect - soft bun with a hot dog and chilli and cheese. For the money you can get a better meal anywhere else in Melbourne but if American style fast food is what you're looking for this is probably the place to be.
M. C.
Really decent feed. The wait staff are polite, prompt and cheerful, even in the Christmas season.
It's a traditional type American diner, which really nails the atmosphere - Elvis era American dining.
Pricing is reasonable, 20 for a burger meal. Excellent char grilled burger flavours.
J. J.
Food and drinks are amazing . And the staff skating around were pretty cool too. And every hour, some of the staff do a dance.
M. C.
Magnificent venue, taking you back to the 50's where you can get the best burgers and shakes in town, whilst being entertained by tribute artist. We saw an amazing Elvis Tribute Artist whilst there, Marcus Jackson, wow we didn't know Elvis lived on. This was fantastic. So energetic on stage, looked the part and vocally I thought it was a recording that's how good he was. Definitely going back again for the food and show.
A. L. (.
Amazing place with the most lovely staff possible. Try to get here before 7 so you don’t miss the dance! Retro but also so modern. Very impressed with the new setup, having only been her prior at their old place of business.
B. L.
was a great atmosphere. Wait staff were lovely very professional not to mention talented taking food orders and delivering food on roller skates. A little pricey but I would go again. Excellent
G. “. A.
Great food and cool atmosphere! Loved the music too.
J. C.
The hot dogs where delicious. Bigger, taster and better value than their burgers. The curly fries were also tasty.
K. G.
Honestly, food was just basic and plain simple and to be blunt, it wasn’t worth what we paid for. I had a vanilla shake while my wife got the banana, it wasn’t that bad. However, service was great and we got the chance to see their custom dance while we were dining.
The atmosphere makes us feel like we’re in back to the future film. Classic American retro diner I would say.
C. D.
Vibey, good burgers, awesome onion rings.
E. H.
One of my favourite places to go! It’s so much fun! 😍
A. T.
Great experience and lovely staff. Would 100% recommend for the great vibes and generous portions.
Z. A.
Amazing food with a lovely atmosphere. Service was amazing and put a smile on your face.
L. S.
The service was great. A good attitude and the vibe was there.
The downfalls were the fact we asked for our share plate of fries first and when our average hotdogs with a stupid amount of onion came out first we didn’t want to eat them anymore. They came out way too late and in all honesty it was too much.
All in all the food could have been made in my microwave at home.
M.
Most amazing experience. Lovely staff, fantastic food, beautiful atmosphere and right next door to the village cinema at Jam Factory. Thankyou for making the Valentines Date Special.
T. K.
Took me back in time. Very clean our waiter was very nice. Nice American Brownie
A. P.
The food is okay, nothing is mind-blowing. The experience is amazing! Just like retro american diner
N.
The choc milkshake was to die for...and a good ol' american hot dog definitely hits the spot. A great and friendly service too.
J. R. Q. V.
Great place with American vibe and friendly waiter in skates. Had a succulent burger and a classic Coke with such a great flavour.
J.
Great service- yummy hot dogs and apparently even better cheeseburgers!!
X. g.
Food and service on point but have no idea what happened to the prices? My daughter was interested in having fries with her nuggets but I wasnt prepared to pay $13 for fries. I think they may have priced themselves out of a lot of peoples budget. $17 for a burger was ok but $10.80 for 6 frozen nuggets nope. Sad as I used to love this place.
P. P.
We ordered cheesy fried came out very horrible and soft fried 😭 not crunchy at all. The milkshake we ordered was banana and the taste is so artificial taste unfortunately. The waiter was good. Just only the service made me satisfied to be honest. Give 3 star for service only.
J. C.
A beautiful American style cafe complete with a Juke box and friendly staff on roller skates. Food is great. Hope to visit again soon.
D.
Nice little 50's diner. Reasonable prices with wine very big burgers.
One of very few places around that serves Cherry Pies!
Q. B.
incredible. ive been here 3 times and ive never ever eaten a better chicken burger, or drank a better milkshake. the staff are lovely and super attentive, and the food comes out so quick! literally the best food ever, every time. also, such a gorgeous theme and so cute that the waiters are on roller skates i love it!
a. n.
Friendliest staff and amazing vibes at this place in the heart of South Yarra.
Takes you to Hollywood with Elvis music, skating staff and delish food. They even have a gaming station. Does it get better than this?
The Iced tea burger combo was yum. A must try for the vibes alone.
Z. S.
Charming venue, cheerful staff, reasonable prices. And the food tastes authentically American! Much better than the typical US-themed diner.
N. T. (. C. Q.
Simy the best burgers, music, service and entertainment for any age
J. C.
Absolutely amazing!! The food was delicious and we definitely loved the Cherry Coke. Even when the staff did their little dance routine/rollerblading extravaganza 😍. We will be back again for sure!
L. C.
very USA style restaurant, very interesting. food is ok. just satisfying.
D. N.
Service was great and fast! Food was good as well.
G. A.
I really enjoyed the experience and atmosphere. Choice of music was great playing the old popular classics. The only thing I would say is that the food is a bit pricey. I ordered the chicken burger combo and the burger was pretty small. I think next time I'll just get a hotdog. The waiters did a little dance to a song which was entertaining.
E. W.
The food was amazing. The waitress broke out in a dance half way through our meal. It was beautiful. Definitely recommend!
S. (.
Pretty cool experience sitting in a old school American Diner eating classic American food. Staff are dressed up too.
J. T.
Incredible milkshakes (worth the cost), awesome burgers, great vibes, groovy beats and wonderful service. It was a really entertaining experience and my partner and I walked out with the biggest smiles.
A. K.
I have been going here for over a decade. It’s a dining institution in Prahan led by Les’ passion for his craft. Great customer service, coruscating atmosphere, amazing food and the best thick shakes you will have anywhere!
D. N.
Old school diner flippin' classic burgers, shakes and fries, they make it perfect every time, and accompanied by lovely service.
K.
Super friendly staff & a fun bubbly environment! The diner can easily cater gluten free & provides a delicious meal in an entertaining space. Highly recommend!
M. M.
This is a very charming place, and I went here for a dinner once when I was on a holiday. The atmosphere of an American diner has been captured in this little space, and the look and feel of the place is very nice. The food is incredible too, and there are even old magazines to read through while you wait for your food. The waiters have roller skates, and they roller skate to you to deliver your food. Overall, I strongly recommend this place.
L. c.
Fantastic food. Great service. ++++
M. B.
Went there last Friday night (26th Feb 2021) to see a live show. We had an awesome night. Service, food and entertainment was spot on. We are going there again in July.
B. S.
Staff were fantastic, food was great, and roller skates were awesome!!
L. T.
Great burgers, onion rings, malt milkshakes, assortment of fries and the fact that the waiters and waitresses are wearing skates. The vibe is just too good to be true!!
L.
The food here is amazing. The staff wore rollerskates which was a wonderful novelty that most places wouldn't do. Each table also has its own jukebox selection that plays throughout the restaurant, giving it a really vintage feel. One of the best American themed restaurants in Melbourne.
N. M.
Waiters are on roller skates! They have the American curly fries. A classic retro American diner. Multiple burger and fries options.
M. S.
If you like retro style restaurants,
If you like the king of rock n roll,
If you like the rolling skates,
If you like milkshakes in jumbo mugs,
If you like seeing coca cola in a classic font,
If you like the golden period of life,
If you like anything cool ever,
You will love this place for sure.
R. T.
Really nice, relaxed atmosphere.. Staff were great.. friendly service. Felt like you had gone back in time. Loved the table juke box!!
Only complaint.. smiley fries were not what I expected and would not have ordered them if I had known they were just regular fries with a staff member drawing a smiley face on a seperate plate. I did feel cheated and think management did know they were cheating people. Especially when they cost more than the other types of fries!
Please management either change it on the menu or make people aware they are not what you would expect!
Other than that.. thank you to the friendly staff member, you definitely added value to the experience!
R. C.
Not many 50s themed restaurants left, so it was nice to visit the place. Even the employees were dress in correct time period attire. Had the "Hound Dog" combo, which was absolutely massive and absolutely tasty.
M. G.
Really Cool dinner. Waitress on rollerskates! They perform a dance as well. Propper juke boxes on the tables. cherry pie is delicious
J.
What can you say? If you have kids and they wanna go somewhere fun, this place is hilarious. The staff dance and sing and are on rollerskates, it doesn't serve alcohol and the shakes are literally pure sugar. The food is like festival food, my burger was overcooked and tasked like a hungry jacks. But fun for families and kids and very unique!
G. M.
Came here for dinner on a Sunday night, and they were pretty much full. Service was very slow due to understaffing, though the staff themselves were attentive, helpful and apologetic. I'm a little torn on how I feel about the food. The food is a very accurate recreation of American diner food... Take that how you will. You have to go once for the novelty, but there are many better places.
H. J.
Great burger and very VERY thick milkshakes. Not that big fan of their chips (I'm not into crunchy ones) but vibe was fantastic and the waitress on rollerstakes was a nice touch. Love the music and deco. A little expensive however.
C. B.
We had a great family dinner here tonight - child absolutely loved it! The waiters were super friendly and did a great dance routine on roller skates. The food was tasty, quick and fresh. Will definitely be back.
D. L.
Great place. Local food and original American made food also. Some of the staff are on roller skates.
D. S.
They provided excellent service. The staff even dressed up especially for the Halloween. They danced! In their costumes and rolling shoes unbelievable. I'm si grateful to be able to visit this restaurant again and gain unforgettable dining experience for my family. My kids were amazed. Thank you for the great experience
R. R.
Absolute favourite of mine when I need some hearty classic American dishes to fill my stomach. Cheap prices considering the size and quality of the food that you get, and serves absolutely incredible thickshakes. Staff have always been friendly and seem rather happy to do their job, some even rolling around the restaurant on roller skates and occasionally performing musical numbers. Would definitely recommend.
J. G.
Great place, lovely friendly staff and yummy burger and apple pie. 😊
C.
This is such a fun place to go and seems to feel so much better in this location. Meals are huge so if ordering for kids you may need to help them out.
Staff are awesome with the kids and happy to chat. The sudden dances, with and without the skates, are fun and all the diners get into it.
J. S.
Fun experience, ‘Elvis’ was there to entertain us. Food was ordinary however
J. S.
A visit to Soda Rock Diner never disappoints. I have sampled most things on the menu and it's all marvelous. Tasty, wholesome, vibrant, uncomplicated food that makes you happy! The prices are extremely good value considering the high standard of the food and service. It is rare to visit a restaurant where the staff are so happy and willing to go above and beyond to make guests enjoy their visit to the fullest extent. Do yourself a favour and visit Soda Rock Diner. You won't be disappointed and in fact you'll wish you discovered it a lot sooner!
D. P.
Great atmosphere awsome food and waiters on wheels
T. C.
Love the milkshakes! Super funky environment, I love the rollerskating shows and the good attitude of the staff.
Hopefully they get the booth seats fixed soon because it's not comfy to sit on!
A. G. U.
We really liked it. We went there with no expectations because the reviews were a bit mixed, but the service and the food was quite good. It wasn't cheap but for the area, very reasonable. The meal was a good size, we couldn't finish it all.
And we can be picky so saying quite a lot! The dancing was fun, and we had a nice young guy as our waiter.
Not many places to get chilli cheese fries and cherry coke in Melbourne...no idea what they mean about renovations, the place looked clean and well looked after to me.
J. F.
Soda Rock Diner originally named Johnny Rocket is one of the greatest time warps I've ever experienced. One moment your walking in the streets but once you walk through them doors it all hits you Elvis Presley everywhere retro furniture which are red and white stools and red booths.
The staff are wearing classic 50s uniforms and are on skates they even perform dances for you. This place has pinball machines and jukeboxes and at the booths you can choose a song to play over the jukebox. The staff is incredibly helpful and nice. The food is great and the thickshakes are amazing it is an absolute must visit and I myself will definitely have to go back again.
C. J.
Decent attempt at American style but as someone born 30km from the US border, I don't think I've ever seen beet root in a burger. :) Good burger quality, Denny's level everything else. Milkshake prices are obscenely high.
The real stars of this restaurant are the dance numbers by staff.
B. C.
Good food and the best entertainment Issi Di
n.
The atmosphere was very cool and the staff were friendly and engaging. Great food and coffee as well. Also the waiters are on roller skates the whole time, which was amazing.
M. R.
Dinner was roughly $25. Vegeburger was surprisingly good.
Theme is consistent and fun.
Best service I've had in a while. Enthusiast staff, who roller skate around.
Only down side, plain chips were pretty plain. Would recommend getting one of the other types.
W. C.
Love the interior design in this place.
They have random performance which is the staff dancing. It's really interesting. On top of that, they have 2 pinball machines!! I had great time to be there. Good atmosphere. Love it. ♥️♥️
D. R.
Food is good. A bit expensive but within reason.
C.
Ordered 2 herbal teas and a cherry pie to share after dinner elsewhere. Staff were attentive and very friendly. As far as fake 50's diner food goes, it was really nice.
A. G.
Lovely thematic place with good burgers! I've had my first ever Twinkie there.
A. O.
Reserved a table for 14 and the waiter was a legend when taking our orders, he was patient and didn't get a single thing wrong. The food arrived in a timely fashion and tasted great as it always has done everytime I've gone here.
The staff were friendly and made the experience fun and interesting. And weren't pushy for us to leave dispite some of our friends finishing right at closing time.
Thanks for making our night great guys 😁.
A. W.
Food and atmosphere great. When the team got up to dance to Aretha Franklin, everyone smiled and clapped along as those two guys owned it! Even passersby took out their phones and filmed with big smiles on their faces. Kids loved it! Adults cracked up!
H. J.
My boyfriend and I had an amazing experience at Soda Rock Diner yesterday! The atmosphere was amazing - we were in awe of the music, the booths and the waiters on roller skates! We thoroughly enjoyed our food ans can't wait to come back again!
B. F.
Amazing food, awesome rockabilly themed dining, and not to mention the waiters/waitresses on roller skates! They also all stopped work for a single song and all put on a great dance / skating show. Awesome place!
M. G.
Great place for kids & adults alike. Awesome service, lovely food & entertainment😉
How about opening one up in Perth??!! 🤩
R. C.
It was a really good place to spend time, good food, really good milkshakes, definitely will go back several times.
M. T.
Very kind staff. they did a show and a sing and dance for a birthday, great service and the food was delicious. Highly recommend a visit here😊
A. K.
Had dinner here for the first time, food was good. Ordered dessert from the waiter with glasses which never came... Thankfully one of the other waiters got us the order and apologised. In fact the rest of the staff were amazing!
K. W.
Love this place. Staff are so friendly. Food is great. Amazing to be back in our favourite American Diner
S. M.
Soda Rock Diner is Back Baby. YEAH!!!!
And it's better than ever.
Food was Perfect, service was friendly and prompt and the atmosphere was sublime.
I only wish I didn't live so far away from South Yarra otherwise I'd be there every day.
Best restaurant in Melbourne.
Can't wait to eat there again.
C. Z.
Not a bad venue if you want to enjoy some blast in the past fun! Food is nice for the American diner style that it is.. but slightly on the pricey side for what you get. Milkshakes are also good
H. B.
We didn’t have a booking when we went, the lady who welcomed us was very friendly, all the staff members were very nice and offered us alternatives as we had some dietary requirements.
The food was delicious and service outstanding. You can see that the staff members care and make an effort to provide an old fashioned American dining experience.
A. P.
Went to a birthday party held there, kids absolutely loved the food, the atmosphere, the music. Awesome American 50's vibe. The staff were amazing. We'll definitely come back again.
A. P.
The aesthetic of the diner was quite exciting, with staff on roller skates and other vintage additions, however the food was highly overpriced for what we ordered. I went to Soda Rock with 2 other people, we ordered a burger, chips and a drink each. The bill was $200! The meat tasted very fake but the chips were satisfactory.
F. C.
I had a cheese burger and curly fries, not the biggest burger for over $10 but beef was nice and thick, curly fries are good .
50s style burger joint not wheelchair friendly because of booths so I couldn't sit with my friends, no disabled toilet, but there is one at the jam factory just a small stroll away.
Friendly staff and Manager.
I'll be back !
R. M.
Fab food, great atmosphere.
J. M.
An excellent return from what I assumed was certain death when the previous location closed. The food and staff are just like I remember and that's excellent.
M. E.
Been here a few times can't complain about anything foods great staff are fantastic the staff go out there way to make you happy defently worth going to soda rock cafe you won't be disaponted
P. K.
I love this retro 60s style diner. They have live performances on certain days. The milkshakes are absolutely to die for. They have old school hamburgers and hotdogs. So addictive. I'm so going back for more!
J. W.
Love soda rock diner the owner was fantastic my mum had her 63rd birthday party before the covid I hope his business dos'nt close down for good and my man cousin played their as an elvis impersonator and my aunty wants to back their she only been there once and the rest of the staff so happy & bubbly please don't close down the only grate 50's diner I will cry😭 its the only place I call home.
H. R.
One of our favourite places when we get to Melbourne. Share a hot dog and chips, the portions are huge; you can always order another if your're still hungry. Thick shakes are the best! And see if you're lucky enough to catch the staff doing there dance routine (Shake your tail Feather). Forget the negative reviews: have an open mind, cast yourself back to the 50s and enjoy.
A. G.
Fantastic atmosphere, outstanding customer service and attentiveness. WAYYYY TOOOO much food.
Value was ok, did need a rebuild of the hotdog as they where having issues with the blow torch to melt the cheese, which was replaced with a massive smile and an apology, very quickly I might add!!!
Need to go for a 15 km walk after, I didn't want to stop eating.
The shakes are amazing!! Great balance in flavor and thickness.
D. C.
Looking for a delicious tasting Vegie Burger & great tasting onion rings? Look no further! Really yummy vegetarian burger and the best onion rings in Melbourne by far. The service is great, the drinks and really nice (try their Coke Float it is so nice), and the 1950s Rock n Roll music is charming. Go, enjoy, you won't regret it.
R. D.
Delicious food, great atmosphere
I. G.
Been here 3 times already and planning on coming back Over and over again. Love taking the girlfriend here for dinner and then straight to the astor theatre down the road for a retro themed date night! Food and drinks are great, as long as you love American food like me ;) if you love anything remotely retro, or especially the 50s and 60s and Elvis, you'll love this place !
C.
Very friendly service! Good burgers, staff clothing, interior design and music match the concept. Worth a visit!
N. R.
Fun themed fast food restaurant, the decor and the staff definitely add to the experience. The burgers and milkshakes were good, though nothing mind-blowing.
T. G.
Unbelievable and fantastic, the greatest dining experience I've ever had, amazing food, lovely decor and great service.
Visit this place for a truely awesome time.
(Get the cherry pie, it's the best)
A. T.
The reason why The Soda Rock Diner is only getting 5 stars because thete are no more.
I would them 50 star rating.
Les & the staff look after you from the time you step through the door into a 1950's diner. Some of the staff are on skates & even do a dance routine. It is wonderful to watch. Even the food is wonderful & the cost is not that bad. My favorite is the onion rings. Plus the Soda Rock has live entertainment like Andrew Portelli - awesome singer. Joe Piastrino - awesome singer. Thank you Les & the Staff of Soda Rock.
Ps. Watch out for some lovely old cars parked out the front.
V. S.
Fun place. Love staffs dancing routine.
s. x.
Excellent little diner with alot of Elvis themed stuff - staff go from table to table with rollerskates on - burger/fries excellent.
S. M.
Please make sure you go into Soda Rock when you’re in Melbourne! It’s such an unpretentious place and it seriously feels like you’re in a local soda shop from the 50’s. Have fries and a shake or a seriously good burger. Also, you can play songs on the mini jukebox on your table. Amazing!
B. S.
Great american style diner. The food is exactly what you would expect and presented very nicely. The staff wear skates which just adds to the atmosphere and the music is perfectly appropriate.
G. L.
Take a step back in time...grea t food...great service ....greag vibe
M. B.
Fun experience. Great waiters on rollerskating, bopping along to the band, and giving friendly helpful service. The rockin' tones were brilliant.
C. C.
Absolutey phenomenal. Great vibes. Food 10/10. Excellent service and music. Would 100% recommend.
R. L.
What a great place to dine with family and friends. The staff are very friendly and provide fantastic service. I highly recommend it to everyone. Its a blast from the past!
V. P.
Just love this joint. The retro seat. The rollers are waiters breaking out into dance and food ain't bad...overall was an enjoyable night!!!
G. B.
Best place to visit with that genuine American dinner feel. Great for all ages and love the dancers
R. S.
After dinner we wanted something sweet and dropped in to this place that looked inviting with the Elvis Presley statue inside the front door and the clearly fifties diner theme. We had relos with us from NZ and they were interested to check it out too. Small juke box at the booths, yummy spider drinks, sundaes. Definitely will go back again for more rock and roll.
J. D.
Simply mesmerizing! A must every time visting Melbourne. Was in Melbourne for 3 nights and couldn't resist eating there each night that's how good it was. Also cheap parking in close proximity for $2 an hour.
R. P.
Such a cool place! Great music, delicious food and fun atmosphere. The staff are friendly and have awesome skating skills
R. H.
Can't go past the hubcap burger - very authentic and tasty American food. The staff's skill on roller skates is impressive.
S. H.
Absolutely beautiful atmosphere, food was superb and staff were so accommodating!! 10/10 such an experience
M.
Food is alright. Nothing fantastic to justify the high cost. I did, however, appreciate that they gave me the excess of the milkshake I ordered rather than throwing it out.
A. S.
It’s pricey but a good vibe and the food was good
Y.
Every time we go the food is good. We ordered a hot chilli dog least time, very good! The cheeseburger tastes good and the size is just enough! If the chilli dog is too big, the chilli burger is also good too!
N. S.
Ordered coffee and a burger. The coffee arrived in good time, but the burger took a bit too long. Think the customer service could have been friendlier too.
M. W. M.
Had the best Milkshake in a very long time today. This together with plenty of the music I love and I feel like becoming a regular. Great Old American Dinner charm.
R. D.
A top little old school American Diner. Great burgers, creamy sodas & root beer. Roller dancing wait staff, table top jukebox & pinball machine 👍
M. A.

This place was good. Decent American styled hamburgers, curly fries and malts. Too bad they closed 3rd Jan, 2016 as apartments take over the building.
A. H.
Meal was great, but the whole surrounding and roller waiters, not to mention Elvis was live in the building with a fantastic show! We will be back!
R. B.
Good atmosphere some of the team on skates didn’t want to be there , good food 👍🏻
