Comments of Alfred's Kitchen

Unbelievable eatery. The food here feels home cooked and yet at the same time with serious flavour. The staff are exceptional and lovely, there is ample area to eat around the fireplace if you want or to sit in the refitted train carriage. The pea and ham soup is out of this world and is a must try! This place is absolutely an institution here in Perth, and I have driven out here multiple times even when I’m not in the area. Their late hours make it really easy to pop by even for a supper if you want to! If you’re driving past - then definitely drop by, it’s worth it!
D. M.
Traditional steak burgers / sandwiches with real meat.Reminds me of Years ago. Well constructed, tasty, defnitly worth a visit. The best pea soup. Great pergola area to sit.
A. N.
Went to Alfreds late on a Sunday night and was not disappointed, neither was steady stream of people also at the restaurant when most venues would have been empty. I ordered the famous Pea & Ham soup (original 1946 recipe), Alfred's special burger and a side of gravy and chips.
The food was delicious, the soup extraordinary and the service was with a friendly smile.
Value for money: 9/10
Food: 7/10
Only complaint is that there is not an Alfreds closer to me.
L.
My family' have been Swan valley many time, but never noticed this place. We tried it yesterday,it is a wonderful place to have a proper meal. Juice steak, yummy soup
D. (.
My first visit here, it's kind of a hidden gem that's right out in the open. I just cannot fault the burger I ordered, it was so delicious and great value for money. You have to try this spot out, it's a true gem in Guildford. The staff were so polite and helpful given I didn't know what to order, I knew I wanted some kind of burger, what was suggested was just perfect. After a short wait Mt number was called and I collected what I considered to be a rather large burger, I sat outside the train car and enjoyed the freshly prepared and amazing burger. This will now be on my must have burger spots, highly recommended.
S. L.
One of my favorite place for real burger and pea & ham soup. Every time, when I go east, I always go pass by to enjoy again.
T. L. L.
Pea and ham soup is tasty. Steak sandwich is large enough for two to share. Good burger joint.
R. G.
Some of the best burgers and chips you can get in Perth. Pea and Ham soup is delicious as well. Always good value. The number of people on any given day is testament alone.
P. N.
The best food ever! The burgers and the pea and ham soup, which they are widely known for, are AMAZING! Everything is great about this place. If you haven't tried it - do it! ;)
K.
Best fresh burgers in my neighbourhood. Love this place, having the burger and soup… tastes better at bonfire in winter🍔
N. G.
This place is seriously still as good as it was all those years ago. Friendly service, beautiful tasty food, great value, with a vibey atmosphere. I know there wouldn’t be many people that haven’t tried something from there, but if you haven’t I would 100% recommend giving it a go. Just a side note if anyone finds a better pea and ham soup please let me know 🤤
J. A.
Hearty sized meals with traditional home cooked feel and taste. Reasonably priced and not left wanting for more. Was warm and cosy eating in the dining car with plenty of tables
J. G. H.
The best pea and ham soup in WA. Do not go past and leave without tasting it. Wholesome food at a very humble place. They also have a fire going when there isn't a fire ban.
s. r.
burgers were very good. very tasty and filling and they are not greasy. their tomato relish in the burger is tasty as well. ordered the alfreds special and the hamburger. both were very good. the pea soup was pleasantly nice as well. friendly staff and good environment. best part is the price. very affordable and menu has a wide variety as well. will surely come back for more!!!
A. R.
The ham and pea soup is incredible. Old school style and absolutely divine. The Cram burger is also amazing. Would recommend to anyone in the area.
M. L.
Never had a bad burger here, even though they forgot the pineapple 🍍 in my Hawaiian. The rest was absolutely tasty but. It's a great takeaway. 8 stars really. Always to be recommended 👌
N.
I had the best burger here. It was cooked well and was so tasty. The cheese was melted and covered the delicious patty.
The buns are huge and so crispy. They offer veggie options and they were amazing. The egg and cheese really hit the spot.
The chips were a massive serve, so glad we shared them. They were crunchy and fluffy on the inside. Served nice and not.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Seating inside and outside available. Will definitely be back.
J. M.
Only tried a cheeseburger. I figured if they can't get that right, no point trying a more expensive burger...
They got it right!!! Burger was really good!! Definitely going to try again when next close by.
G. S.
Amazing burgers and chips.
Well priced for quality. Legendary pea & ham soup was fairly good tonight - only downside if there is one, always a few too many customers huddling around the one outside fire - but that's expected on the cooler evenings. Always a favourite this place🥰🥰
F. M.
Not much can go wrong when getting an Alfred's burger other than being super busy which just shows how good they are ! Always fresh , always tasty and over 15 years of getting Alfred's I've never had anything but happiness in my tummy.
D. H.
Alfred's is an institution in Perth. Many come for the Pea and Ham soup or the burgers. Some come for the atmosphere, others for the warm fire and outdoor experience. The Railcar nearby is great to eat in and the car park is generally busy with customers. If you haven't recently, head to Alfred's and be reminded hey you love it.
j.
You already know this place is good, serving since 1946, Alfred's kitchen have perfected their burgers. Amazing hamburgers and soup. The line can be quite long (~40 minutes) so get here early. The eating area also has an old train because the building used to be the old Guildford station. I have been coming here for years and am definitely coming again when I'm in the area. :)
B. B.
Far out. This place is the bomb. Best Aussie style burgers ever. I highly recommend the cram burger. Decadent and delicious.
B. R.
Quaint, iconic and historic little burger joint in the heart of Guildford. Alfred's is Guildford and Guildford is Alfred's. Has a nice little wood fire that burns as bright as the food and service. There is also a little train carriage (pic) that diners can eat in. Gluten free buns available.
A. M.
Really great! The soup is to die for! Great place for a family gathering but take an extra jumper in the evening. Highly recommended.
r.
Basic steak burger is $9.70, Alfred special is $11.50 and Hawaiian special was $9. Very good price for very good burgers. I could smell either charcoal or wood burned fragrance, which I assume they use for cooking the meat and stuff. Very transitional way of cooking which I appreciate. Ambience is very vintage and I believe it is also an iconic place for “street” food. Love the vibe :)
G. J.
Always love the food, the staff and the ambience of Alfred's Kitchen.
The last remaining "caravan burger joint" in Perth.
Alfred's is a cultural icon.
YOU MUST TRY THEIR PEA AND HAM SOUP!!!!!!!❤️
UPDATE.. Alfred's are also open for lunch... So you can enjoy their awesome burgers during the day as well 😊
S. P.
My favourite place for Burgers. And their Ham and Pea soup is the best of the best!!! Great vibe and always a long queue of people outside but the staffs are really efficient and food is out really fast.
S. A.
Great burgers! Open til late. They recently updated the menue, things are a little more expensive but vibe is still great as is the taste. I do wish the tables in the carriage were less sticky though. Haha.
A. I.
If you want to grab a burger in Swan Valley, it’s the place to visit. The patties are very thick and juicy. I liked the chowder soup as well. My kids loved the carriage-designed restaurant.
S.
Iconic Alfred’s Kitchen .... so good to see it’s still open !
If you want an old fashion burger to finish off the night - you can’t beat this place !
Grab a giant burger, generous portion of chips, and an old fashioned milkshake ... sit by the fire pit and there ya have it , the most perfect way to finish off the night after clubbing!
S. M.
Fire pit and toasty was delicious, great end to a ride...
B. M.
Great Vegan lentil burgers cooked fresh chips can also get regular burgers.Friendly staff grea fast service.
P. S.
It has been some time since I have been here. But everything is still the same. Great Burgers and chips, hot and tasty Pea and Ham Soup and a lovely fire out the front to warm up at.
Only thing different - the soup wasn't burnt, like it has always been in the past.
K. A.
Alfred's kitchen is a must visit if you are in the neighbourhood. During the winter months the fire pit is a great place to hang out while you wait for your burger. If you prefer, a hot cup of soup is a great alternative. But Alfred's hamburgers are what they are known for so definitely try one. Parking can be a bit challenging though.
C. H.
A really nice, classic burger. Not like current American Style (brioche bun etc) burgers.. but a nice change of pace!
A star lost due to the average chips.
Pic of the 'Alfred Special'

Took a while for our meal to be served/be ready, but it was cool cause we got to chill and wait by the fire. The pea and ham soup wasn't that special in my opinion but it's still yummy. That hotdog that came in a burger bun was an amusing surprise though. And the gravy in chips was huge and superb it's enough to feed 3-4 people it's cheap for what it is. Everything was delicious and I can see why people drive all the way out here(28kms back in forth on our case)
D. w. w.
Great burger, cold drinks and good seating areas to enjoy your food with friends or without friends.
M. M.
First went here in mid 70s. Rarely over that side of town but if I am and if its meal time I have their steak burger. Got to be about the best going.
A. A.
Great burger in a relaxing and unique surrounding. Staff are friendly enough but basically it’s just good burger with no frills. Expect to wait a bit if you get there around peak dinner time.
A. A.
Ham &pea soup is very filling, alfred's special was huge and very nice
B.
Excellent chips, pea and ham soup and steak special sandwich. However we will avoid bacon burger in future - oily bacon on soggy poppy seed bun was yuk. Prices and quantity were also excellent.
N. C.
This place does some of the best burgers in Perth that will NOT require the deed for your house.
On a budget? The Pea and Ham soup is fantastic for a quick meal on the go.
C. P.
Omg just love this place. Dont go very often but its always a special treat when we do. The outside fire pitt is awesome , brings a community together , to sit down together, to eat together, you can tell the burgers are better here cuz no1 talks while eating. 😉
And dont forget the caboose seating area. When you want that little bit of "me" time you can zone out and enjoy the awesome burgers and even a soup entree if you wish all in the comfort of booth seating.

Great food everytime. You can taste the freshness. Also a great vibe.

Alfred’s Kitchen has been one of my favourite places to go for burgers since I moved to Perth 15 years ago.
The food is always great, especially the pea and ham soup!

Nice area to have a good burger !
Must come to have a visit when you are in Swan Valley!
M. M.
Food was great. But so busy even though we got served as soon as we arrived we waited over 30mins, We had to stand because no seats, and could not go wait somewhere else because they had run out of buzzers. By the time we left the queue was huge...so timing will be the difference between a good trip here or a frustrating wait for food.
M. K.
My wife and I went here for lunch. We were there just before 2 and it was not too busy.
Service was good. My wife ordered the Hawaiian Special and I had a Double Hamburger. We also shared a prayer and ham soup. That was good.
Hers was tasty mine was average. Both burgers were a good size though. Price also good. Mine about 10 and hers about 8
G. S.
Amazingly organised as an old train station..Loved this place. Really felt like sitting in a train. Friendly staff and burgers are great too. Definitely going back.
H. M.
Delicious, simple and hearty food. The train carriage seating and outdoor seating area in the courtyard are lovely.
M. T.
Decent food and taste like home cook burger. The famous Green Peas and Bacon soup was average in my opinion. Many tourist came to this place because of the reviews but I have tasted much better.
L. I. P.
Well organised operation. Great outside waiting area (seated). Highly recommend the vegetarian burger and chips ☺️
S. G.
Alfred's is great! The burgers are always delish and they have a great ambience with the firepit. We always bring marshmallows and sticks to roast over the fire. They have had a recent renovation which they added a train carriage to eat meals in addition to the picnic benches. With the Reno they added two SPACIOUS bathrooms which are both wheelchair accessible and have baby change tables. The grounds are also wheel chair accessible but the train carriage isn't as there are stairs to lead up to the carriage. All in all, this place is AWESOME! A secret Perth gem!
N. H.
Always a great feed at AKs. I love to sit around the fire pit, getting all smokey and snuggly! I also like sitting in the carriages, or the outside garden. A great place for the whole family.
M. W.
Great burgers, good fair prices, 5star Pea and Ham soup, good parking options
C. K. (.
It has good atmosphere. The burgers is biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig!🍔👍🏻🤤

They've been making eats since 1946 and doing it mighty fine. It's always a pleasure to pop in whilst in Perth.

Wont dissapoint.

Great food and well priced, good home style burgers. I like to phone ahead for a speedy pickup 🙂

Ive always had the alfreds burgers and the pea and ham soup but this time I tried the vegetarian burger and it did not disappoint!
C. J.
Great place to drop by if you are craving for some decent food during the late night. Very fulfilling signature burger, chips comes with decent size, great taste and value for money.
A. M.
It's a food institution. Are they Perth's best burgers? No. Are they delicious? Heck yeah they are. Is it Perth's best burger experience? Hands down.
Get a burg or steak sandwich some pea and ham soup and sit by the fireplace or on the train carriage. Amazing. 😘
K. M.
Nice friendly service. Hamburgers were delicious. Chips were slightly undercooked, but were still eaten with gusto.
C. C.
Gotta get down like a local and visit this place for a meal. With a variety of options there is something for everyone. The prices are very reasonable. Parking can be tricky to find so you just need to look around the surrounding streets. This place is always busy busy busy so there will mostly be a wait for your meal but it will be well worth it. I could not recommend Alfred's kitchen enough to people visiting Perth!
X. P. M.
Very good value if you look at the ingredients in the burger. Fairly priced if you just consider the quality of the main ingredient - meat's tough and is a little tendon-y. Lovely, helpful staff. It's quite crowded and there's always a queue. Instead of queueing, just call up and order in advance over the phone. You might have to call a couple of times or wait on the phone, but that's better than waiting in the physical queue (unless you meet a new friend there!).
5. S.
The best steak sandwich steak I have tasted all my life! Def will be back ✌️
C. 2.
It was amazing food me and my mates loved it and will definitely be coming back for more
Z. L.
Nice burgers for an excellent price, amazing opening hours and good service, wait time can be long so call ahead and order what you want.
S. K.
What a place alfreds kitchen is an institution almost a right of passage even. Probably the greatest ocean and ham soup to get anywhere. Followed by the alfreds special and your on to a winner for dinner and you haven’t even tried the chicken. Worth the drive or plane ride from anywhere.
H. P.
Alfred’s kitchen have a variety of yummy burger and sandwiches👍🏻 Best go to if you’re craving for a late night meaty treat!🍔
J. J.
Always love our Alfred's Kitchen experience. Food and service never disappoint.
T. P.
Always a great feed! The pea and ham soup is legendary. Nice warm fire to sit around.
J. K.
Great local place.
Went on a cold night for the pea and ham soup, it was really thick and warm. Perfect.
Great for a spot over in Guildford, but they also have seating if you feel like being in a courtyard or rail carriage.
T. T.
Most recommended :
Alfred’s special ( three layers of toast )
CRAM ( burger )
The soup and chips with gravy are great too!
R. M.
Can't beat an Alfred's Special by the open fire. It's one you cannot miss out on during a trip to Perth. They have the best burgers in town!
E.
Had takeaway on rainy Saturday evening it was nice to have the fire to warm us while we waited.
The pea and ham soup was delicious with a lovely big bit of tasty ham in it. The burgers were very tasty being made with high quality beef. The chips were nice but were a little greasy and there were too many for us and we ended up throwing a lot away. I’d prefer to pay less for a small portion.
Anyway highly recommended!!
K. O.
Great service and always good food, perfect for sitting next to the firepit out front for a relaxing early evening meal
T. R.
Fantastic fresh hamburgers. Fast friendly service. Look forward to the next visit. Yummmmo.
C. R.
Went there on Mon 22/2/21 at about 9pm for the first time. Staff brilliant, service impeccable and the burger's were fantastic. By far outstrips any other burger I've had in Perth......Cheap too compared to other places...definitely will become a regular...Thanks Alfred's
O. N.
Nice place to grab a burger. Fills you up real good too!

Alfred's Kitchen is an experience. Love the people, love the venue and love the food!
J. J. B. G.
Best burger in town. They're still open even late. Parking is free.
L. T.
Best homemade pea and ham in Perth, and all hamburgers just as good.
C. A.
Good burgers, average chips (needs salt!) 20mins wait time. It's an okay alternative to maccas if you're in the area
R. R.
Never had a bad experience and you cannot beat the nostalgia of the place. Can't remember how many times I've eaten here! I remember visiting as a child when the fire was a gravel pit post horse and cart, but has always had that feel.
F. A.
Delicious burgers!
Even my 3yo was saying how yummy his cheese burger was.
Fun sitting by the old train carriage too.
Would definitely go again!
T. S. (.
Awesome burgers last time went, when I Had been years ago but didn't know what the place was called.
Came tonight with a mate, had the pea and ham soup. Both times amazing a must try!
M. C. (.
Seriously I don't understand how come people rated this as 1 star? I honestly believe nobody would hate this place. The sandwhich is definitely the BEST SANDWHICH on earth! I couldn't say anything else rather than DELICIOUS, just simply delicious!
R. B. T.
The burger was sensational. Picture won't do you good. Try it yourself. No wonder my friends drove 35 minutes all the way just to have a bite. Nice atmosphere too. Will definitely go back for a bite.
Y. C.
I've been going to Alfred's around 40-45 years, never had a complaint (grew up in Bassendean). Burgers, pea soup, what can I say?...YUM!
Awesome on a cool night, sitting around the fire, warming up and having a chat to others.
Love Alfred's
V. W.
The best in burgers and pea and ham soup to die for,you can understand why they been so successful over the past 75 yrs, keep up the good work
L.
Alfred's Kitchen is an iconic burger joint by the railway tracks at Guildford, Western Australia. This place was established in the 1940's. Apart from excellent burgers, their Pea and Ham soup is legendary. They cook on a wood-fired stove and there is a large firepit with seats around a decent sized wood-log open fire out the front -- wonderful in winter. In recent years an old railway restaurant carriage has been placed parallel to the main east-west railway line on its own rails. Regular trains Wizz past at speed very close to this restaurant carriage. Customers can sit at tables in the old carriage to eat what they've bought at Alfred's Kitchen (looks a hundred years old but refitted to purpose). The staff are really friendly and give great service. Everyone I know loves Alfred's Kitchen.
K. R.
Best place for a chill out meal by a fire, can't go past a pea and ham soup
A. A.
great burger place for lunch to midnight supper near guildford, 10 min from perth city
F. Y. L.
One of the best burger I had in my life. Made with passion and quality. Recommend to get the signature burger.
J. H.
First up, I've been visiting this place for over 40yrs. In all that time it has always served up fantastic grub. I love and recommend the "Alfred's Special" and a friend (who is 6' plus) always gets the "Cram." The Pea and ham soup is made fresh everyday and tastes excellent every time.
My view is biased by favourite memories and lots of nostalgia. Seriously though the food is quality and you won't be disappointed.
J. K.
We always comeback here for burgers. Love the ambience. Even worth drive from Willetton.
S. S.
Best Gluten Free bacon and egg burger I have ever tasted. Full size bun..
K. G. (.
First time, the Lady in the front explained to me the menu and was very respectful. I liked my Hotdog, will be back
Y.
Truly an icon of Perth. Been here since the 40's and once you try it you see why. The burgers are a traditional Australian style and the fries are thick cut and cooked to order. Try sit in the train carriage when you go and enjoy the historic town of Guildford.
Y. G.
Thanks Alfred’s kitchen for making the best soup I’ve ever tasted. I feel better about my 2 fruit 5 veg goal when consuming the pea and ham soup.
Good atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious food. I feel like this is going to be one of the few places I’m going to associate heavily throughout my life. Awesome retro vibes with all the train car dining but also love the outside fire too.
Pro tip: order the pea and ham soup and also chips, and just dip/toss the chips into the soup 😋
T. M.
Great place! Good and friendly service. Got an awesome lentilles burger for the vegetarian ones. Great flavor!
S.
Whats not to love about burgers and the outdoors on a chilly night with your mates and a fire pit. If I did this at home the fire brigade would be called in an instant but this place delivers time and time again.
N. N.
A Perth institution.
A great little place selling a variety of yummy food. They are known for their burgers, and their famous pea and ham soup.
Has on site parking, toilets, seating, a refurbished train carriage for patrons to eat in and a firepit to keep you warm on the cooler nights.
D. H.
My favourite eatery. Just good simple burgers at a reasonable price. Nice to sit around the fire in winter. Famous for there pea soap as well. Friendly staff. Be warned though it is a popular spot and in busy times there can be a bit if a wait. But there is plenty of seating available. If you live in Perth and haven't been or heard of Alfred's Kitchen, do yourself a favour and check them out.
Y. C.
Super big burger! Nice environment and view.
C. K. (.
It has good atmosphere. The burgers is biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig!🍔👍🏻🤤
J.
Best spot when its late and your hungry. Double steak burger was delicious, good friendly staff and fireplace is cosy on cold nights. Recommend to family and friends all the time
M. S.
Throughout the many years I've frequented Alfred's it's never failed. It may always be busy but it's worth the wait - rain, hail or shine.
D. M.
I ate the Cram Burger and it was epic! It was very filling. My mate and I shared the cups which were very plentiful. I'd not be able to eat a burger and all the chips. There's a good collection of soft drinks and coffee is also available.
I'd definitely come back here, though indoor seating is limited particularly pending rainy weather. The fire pit is a nice touch in the evenings. Very hospitable atmosphere.
The biggest reasons to come back would be if I were very hungry and in a group...
The food is tasty, but certainly not premium ingredients. This makes it great for big portions to fill you up.
K. T.
My first meal at Alfred's and it sure didn't disappoint. So many good reviews and I'm happy to add another one to the tally - a homely burger place value for money and plenty of flavour and quality ingredients. I tried their infamous Cram burger but no one told me that it weighed a ton!? Be warned the Cram burger is big so be ready for it. Sure its not the prettiest looking burger you'll ever eat but it packs a whole heart attack inducing truck of yummy goodness. I even went fancy and tried their ham and pea soup as a starter, sitting by the fireplace, it was a perfect winter's night. Definitely recommend it and I'll be back next time!!
M. N.
Best burgers in town, I remember this place as a teenage now in my 40s my own teenagers love this place especially pea and ham soup and chips great place in winter around the fire pit
J. G.
Been going to Alfred's kitchen since I was 14 .. love this place nothing changes apart from the standard of food gets better everytime you go . Love the added carriges and extra seating with the fence to keep my kids in .. you guys rock 🤙👌👍
B. B.
A great feed been coming here since I was a kid and it’s only getting better, last night was a bit of a line up and the team managed it well and the wait was totally worth it. Chips on point and burgers delicious.
Love the place !
T. E.
They operate till late night too. Perfect for winter night owls. Nice camp fire, cosy train seats and yummy vegetables burgers! They even have lentil burgers for vegan.
L. M.
Blast from the past, and still as good! Large tasty burgers and a nice warm 🔥
H. A.
Good hearty burgers, chips and the soup mmm. Huge portions! Seems to always be a long wait, even on a quiet night.
B. V. r.

S. L.
Yummy,great burgers as always.
E. Y.
Brilliant spot for a burger! Great local if you're in the Guildford area. There's an outdoor area as well as spot inside to eat.
A.
Never been to this iconic place before. Definitely lived up to its reputation. Great burgers, best ever chips and gravy. Fun to sit in old railway carriage during unseasonal rain in summer.
J. M.
Good prices, nice vibe, very fresh food. Great atmosphere, and loved the outdoor fire pit.
C. C.
Absolutely delicious!! friendly service, great atmosphere and the fire out the front! 👌
C. N.
Just had the pea and ham soup and burgers!!!! So delicious and staff are super friendly. Dog-friendly too which was great since we had our fur baby with us. Highly recommend
J. D.
The burgers are decently sized and with a serve if chips it makes for a solid meal.
It can get busy but not unbearably so. The fireside seating, outdoor dining area and converted train carriage provide a variety of places to eat.

Very busy, but fast to delivery food. Sandwiches/burgers extremely large size.
Fire place amazing, music too.
S. P.
My god I can't believe I have never gone to this place the best burgers ever I'm really quite cheap heard a bit about it and expected a lot worse pricewise was very cheap
D. A.
Burgers were awesome and even soo busy for fathers day service was good.
A.
Delicious and cheap feed. Open late at night so you always have time to satisfy the cravings.
Also have a firepit to keep you warm on the colder nights while you wait for your food.
R. H.
This is a Guildford staple. Great burgers, I always love the hamburgers more than their steak though. The soup is awesome if you're into a really hearty pea and ham soup. Their chips and gravy are also great. Sitting by the fire here on a cold night is a great experience.
D.
It's food surpassed it's reputation, plus the Pea & Ham soup is 👌
g. b.
Doesn't get much better than this place. Pea and ham soup by the fire 🔥 bring it on.
S. S.
Best and cheapest burgers in Perth.
A. C.
Best Pea and Ham Soup on Earth over the 25 years I ve been going and still the fire to keep warm.
G. N.
The best burgers in Perth, also ham and pea soup, tasty and affordable, all them other fancy overpriced competitors can't compete with this original burgers spot...
J. T.
serve a tasty burger. I had the hawaiian and it was super tasty. Love how they keep their authenticity by keep using wood to cook which gives an essential smell and extra tastes to the food! It’s been there for so long and it comes with a good reason!
j. s.
Great burgers and soup as usual!!! Very filling. This is the Cram Burger!!!
K. J.
Best old fashioned aussie style hamburgers you will ever find, chips & gravy, soup and hotdogs all served over the counter by friendly staff in a social space including a nice bon fire out the front to keep you warm while you wait. Alfred's even caters to vegetarian diets with their lentil burgers! Decent prices and large portion sizes. 5 stars!
D. E.
Great affordable burgers Great place to take the kids
L. F.
Alfred's kitchen is so good especially the pea n ham soup on this cold winter night. So good will be back for more.
S. O. N.
What’s there to say except 5 stars all round :) always make an excuse to stop by when close by :)
L. C.
Great food, warming on a cold day... everytime
A. D. O.
So glad this place has survived! Used to come here after late shifts at SJOG Midland - there was nothing better than devouring a burger by the fire late at night after work! Returned after a few years and the food was still just as delicious! My favourite is still Alfred's special. Would also recommend the Cram burger to any meat fanatics... the triple whammy combo of hamburger, steak and bacon!
J. K.
Aussie burgers and pea soup.Top quality ,tourist attractiom
T. C.
Fantastic burgers, great atmosphere and the new seating in and outside of the team carriage is superb. Also a great meeting place for car runs!
B. A.
Always a good feed at Alfred's. Small wait but that's expected when it's always so busy! Food is always amazing!
C. S.
Great burgers which you can by the outdoor fire and to enjoy.
J. D.
Good food and kids love the train carriage
E.
Loved the atmosphere, the hearty and affordable burger, and even the gruff staff.
J.
Good to fill the tummy but expect to an wait extreme amount of time for your food. took nearly 40 mins for 3 orders and one order got COLD before the next one came out.
also "shazza" doesn't look you in the eye when she serves you. no smile either.
P. T.
Arguably the best hamburgers in Western Australia, never disappointed.
T. D.
Best Burger's in town, cosy fire and sip on a home made pea and ham soup while you're waiting, yum
L. S.
I had a steak burger & it was delicious
J. R.
Awesome food. Big burgers very tasty and filling.
We will be going again & again.....
T.
Always great food and a great atmosphere
P. S.
If I could give 4.5 I would. Nice place offering homemade style hamburgers. Really well priced and good ingredients. The train carriage was a nice place to chill. Only thing lacking was the chips which were nothing special.
t. w.
Best Burger with the lot in Perth
Big in size and taste
Cost $12
Have paid $20 elsewhere and was nowhere near as good
Great friendly service as well
C. P.
Great burgers, with a huge range of options, and really big, crunchy chips.
In winter the Pea and Ham soup by the fire is a great option.
Service is good, with the girls having a great attitude, even very late at night.
Food cooking time is variable, as to be expected, dependent on how many people are in front of you.
The carriage and court yard, along with EFTPOS and great additions over the recent years
D.
Great burger, not so great chips. Quite busy but nice atmosphere with the fire so worth the wait.
R. M.
Decided to stop in here tonight after attending a seminar in the city, as I hadn't been here in over 10 years.
If you like your burgers homestyle, then this is a place you can't go past at all. I picked up the CRAM, for old times sake. The burger is a solid performer, with a nice, slightly chewy steak that you don't have to fight gristle to get out, a homestyle meat patty and sauce. The bacon and cheese get a bit lost in all that meat, but the cheese is melted quite well in the midst of it all.
Topped off with some basic salads, and you've got a burger worth stopping in for. At $15.80, the burger is also well priced. Overall, a solid 7/10.
D. C.
I think I just had the best hamburger in my life, sorry Mom 😉. Seriously if you haven’t been here, you should, the burgers are amazingly good.
C. J.
Haven't been here since I was 10 but I remember the cold of the night and the warmth of the fire and the taste of those burgers! 9/10 yeah fellas you should 100% stop by here and cop yourself a borgar 🙏🙏.
M. H.
They have lovely burgers. During winter the have a huge fire pit everyone gathers around to keep warm. Their pea and ham soup is lovely too.
J. L.
We ordered their special and it's a sandwich instead of burger bun. The patty was thick and juicy.
They have a camp fire and the indoor dining area is a train. It make it more special as it's beside a train track.
The soup was nice and the burgers are big for sharing too.
N. W.
Great burgers 🍔 n chips 🍟 ....👍
B. D.
This historic burger joint is a must! Not only does it have history but it is some of the best burgers in town. Through the years with their popularity they don't price gouge. You can get a burger for your self or a meal for a large family at a reasonable price. During cooler months stay warm next to the fire going out front.
S. A. E.
Great place, hasn't changed in twenty odd year's, apart from the upgrades, including the new seating and railway carriage dining room, and the nice clean outdoor dining area
Also the one and only Lisa, still there, still laughing, and friendly as all.
Keep up the great job guys and gal's.
M. J. D. T.
Beautiful soup and burgers. Love this place
C. M.
Best chips in Perth. Burgers will fill you up. Phone orders are a good idea as wait time at peak is not short. Fantastic in cooler months with open log fire out the front and an ever changing closeup view of the traffic through Guildford. Very tasty Pea soup while you wait for your main order is the way to go.
T. F. e. a. t. h. e. r. s. t. o. n.
BEST SOUP IN PERTH,,RELAXED OUT DOOR EATS WITH FIRE PLACE.
K.
Good solid burger. Alfreds special is definitely a recommendation. Don't waste your money on the chips; very average
K. L.
Been coming here for about 10years, it's a long drive for me, but I try to make the trip a few times a year.
I think that the burgers are very fairly priced considering the quality to which they're made, and their size.
The waiting time can be a bit long during the busier times, but I suppose that's a good thing; knowing your burgers are made to-order; rather than sitting in a warmer and assembled when ordered.
Chips are good too, nice that you can choose how much seasoning to put on them.
5/5 always
r. p.
Great spot for a late night feed...pea and ham soup, steak burger are great!
W. C.
Nice burger place. Soup is good too
J. S.
Arguably Perth's best burgers, esp. for the price. Nothing fancy, no indoor dining, just good burgers. They've been around so long, eating here is a tradition. Their Pea 'n ham soup is also worth a mention.
I. W.
Nice, good food, crazy long line but food was worth the wait
L. M.
Great hamburgers, kust like they were done in the 80s and 90s. Nice and messy to eat tastes just perfect. Super filling. Awesome chips. No brioche. Win!
M. B.
Amazing food and orderly efficient service end interactions. I am glad I have eaten from the post WW2 tram car East end standard.
S. M.
Must visit for their famous soup, burgers and experience. This place reminded me of street food in Asia. Next to train tracks, smell of the pea soup and lines of people waiting to get some grub.
K. D. R.
If you don't know how amazing Alfreds is then you don't know how amazing life is 😂
Go and get a Cram Burger and start enjoying your life!!
M. M.
Simple but delicious burgers are found in here, plusssss cheaeaeaeap food!!!
A. M.
Very good steak burger.
B. P.
Great burger and chips. Good value - plain burger less than $8...
Had a bit of a wait as it was very busy last Saturday night. But worth the wait. It has been going since 1946. If you want a great burger.... That's the place
P. O.
Definitely the best burgers in Perth. I will drive out of my way to come to this gem of a place. Plenty to choose from the menu, classic pea & ham soup is the stuff of legends. Every burger i have had has tasted great and left me full. Staff are friendly and service is always top notch. Highly recommend
D. E.
Good value for money, burger was really tasty, good variety on the menu.
n. s.
Always awesome street food, hang over food, late night food. BEST Pea and Ham soup you'll ever eat.
Always quite busy though
J. C.
Great Perth icon, good burgers, I drive 15 minutes to get here.
N. B.
Since 1946 this place has had Good food and is a great meeting place, for an evening of sitting by an open fire. You're going to be sitting outside so dress for that. A Perth iconic setting of Midland which has held it's character all these years. Must be tried by everyone who visits Perth, and for those who know how good the menu is. Take the family and enjoy this place
G. D.
Great burgers loved it.
L. D.
Anybody living in perth that hasnt been to Alfreds is a bum... thankyou bob hawke for that phrase...but truly this is burger as it should be and before fast plastic burgers arrived.
Its winter the pitfire is raging...hang out near ..get a yumm burger and see if you can get your laughing lips around a std or triple bacon cheese and chicken..warning be hungry upon arrival or dont order large chips lol.
Ive been in perth over 30 years..not always a regular in that time but im more local these days..from 1st time back then till now its always good..and back then the old railway carriages come eating area werent though as now...great place .. should be heritage listed
M. W.
Love this place. Dine alfresco or in an old rail car, take away and eat in one of the picturesque parks nearby. Good old fashioned (literally vintage), food and service. A slice of Perth and Guildfords history. Pea and Ham soup is thick and tasty, served straight from a wood burning stove. Take the family for a real burger or pick one up after a night out - the open fire pit on the sidewalk will keep you warm and adds to the old world charm.
T.
Delicious! I had the steak special. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the wait but worth it. We had been to the Foo Fighters and wanted a decent feed. The value of the burgers and sandwiches are defiantly worth stopping in for.
D. N.
Great burger! Love the soup
J. G.
Alfred's burgers are not fancy but they are tasty (as are the chips!) and the pea and ham soup is amazing. Best place in Perth if you need a late night burger.
D. W.
Good quick food, like simple burger 🍔 and chips, at good prices for Perth, most burgers under $10, where at other places you pay $15 or more. Can get busy, mainly on the weekends, and has an old train carriage you can dinner in or you can takeaway.
T.
How can you not love this place? Great vibe, fireplace for those cold nights, best takeaway pea n ham soup, and my absolute fav is the Alfred's special 👌 I have been back here too many times to count.
H. G.
Really nice little burger joint. There have good food and nice staff. There is indoor and outdoor seating areas and the food is nice and filling. Old-school burgers that come wrapped in paper and drive your taste buds crazy for more. Fire pits get lit in winter or you can hide in the train carriage out the back.
P. C.
Wicked burgers, cheaper than you can dream about. Great soup as always
N. N.
One of the best places for Burger's. Of not The best. Lots of people there good thing we live in Perth.
D. W.
Had the Beef, egg, bacon n cheese hamburger - best burger I've had! 🤤 Haven't been to Alfred's in years and happy to report the only change is eftpos 😆
H. U.
The chips were good. The burgers were okay. Perhaps a bit more seasoning on the patties. It was a bit underwhelming. Nice ambience though.
M. R.
Best Burgers, Chip and Pea & Ham soup in WA. Macca's has a long way to go to match quanity, quality and price.
F. W.
I liked the soup and my husbandll liked his veggie burger.
S. !.
One of the great memorable places I have in my mind, the only thing I can think of that can improve alfies is a mosquito net that reattaches with magnets. Other then that this place is great!
J. B.
We tried the famous soup and the hamburger, we really enjoy the both of them...We'll definetly come back soon!
D. N.
Good size meet Patty and large bun. Burger was scantily filled with onion. When I asked what was in the burger they forgot to tell me that there was butter in the burger. ☹ which would have been something I definitely wouldn't have picked as it makes me sick. Very well priced.
T. W.
So good! An absolute gem. Cheap, tasty and unique. They have a fire going out the front and vegan options. Only problem is the food comes in wrapping, so a bit wasteful, but they also we're happy to put my food in a container I brought from home.
J. S.
Always get a great burger here. A Perth institution. In winter, we sit around the big open wood fire out the front, eating our burgers and chatting to others enjoying the same ambience. We live in the northern suburbs but still visit. It's worth the journey.
R. O.
Welcoming staff, great and warm comfort food ready in minutes, what else could you ask from a roadside restaurant. The 'Train Carriage' indoor part of the dining experience is always fun when the occasional train goes straight pass at speed.
D. T.
Good burgers, very casual place, do not expect tables of classy finishings here. Just very nice tasting food.
Also one of the only places open after 10pm in Perth metro area.
M. 0.
Loved the food, serving sizes are massive unfortunately wasn't able to finish my meal due to the size. Great value for money.
A.
Everyone always goes on about how good this place is, and I looove a good burger so I checked it out, service was great. Food came very quick considering they seemed a bit busy and ohh man, the beef patty. In that burger is great. And the steak in my girlfriends was perfect. Would definitely recommend.
J. P.
This is an iconic roadside burger joint that is a must see and must taste if you are visiting Perth. The best thing about the place is the atmosphere. Sit back around the fire pit and enjoy one of the wide variety of burgers and steak sandwiches with an eclectic group of fellow diners. They have also added and old rail cart for indoor dining and toilets. This place just keeps getting better.
J. M. L.
Can't stop eating their burgers!! Just soo good!! And place is pretty chill so perfect for those late night cravings or just simple date nights
F. L.
Massive burger for minimal price.. a tradition all Perthites must try!!! +GlutenFree buns available!! Always a treat:)
G. K.
The burger was delicious and worth the wait. If you want to eat quickly they will serve the soup immediately on purchase.
It was a rainy night and still packed, but the atmosphere was great.
R. M.
Amazing food and staff as always
J. T.
Fantastic old school burger joint!
L. Y. Y.
Super yummy YUMMY burger!!!
They never try to be fancy.. Just simple honest super delicious food cooked with passion..
Shame I have to bring my own chilli sauce but I couldn't care less as the burgers were sensational!!!
d. p.
Always great times at alfred's. Reliable that the burger you get will be great. Also nice is that after so many years the prices have remained reasonable. Get a pea and ham soup, you will not regret it.
M. D.
Love this place. Awesome burger.
B. S.
We both had cheese and bacon burgers which were large and tasty.my only comment is a lack of tomato sauce. Chips were also excellent.
C. B.
History, what else could you say.love the open fires ,pea and ham soup on a cold, there is nothing better, thanks Alfred's kitchen well done
A. D.
Great little burger joint, stays open really late which is helpful. A perfect place to go after a few drinks or just to grab a quick bite. This place is quite popular so there might be a little bit of a wait depending on the time. They also sell soup.
D. F.
We just love this fab place for the atmosphere of bringing folks from every where together. Love the big fire pit , especially during winter time, sipping over a hot cup of home style cooked, pea n ham soup, while waiting for that special yummy burger with chips. If you prefer, there's even a rail carriage to have your meal in. Thnx a million Alfreds.
M. T.
Love this burger joint in Perth. Very nice pea and ham soup that warms you up in the cool night. Delicious burgers too. Expect to queue in line for at least 20 minutes to order
R. A.
The BEST pea and ham soup ever!
Love Alfred's, the atmosphere is always great, the staff are super friendly, the fire pit is awesome, the renovations are fantastic and the food is irreplaceable. Can't get enough of the place.
F. G.
Was struggling to find someplace open to get a feed after work one night, and Alfred's Kitchen was the saving grace. Huge burgers, tasty as all hell. Quick service, although when busy expect a wait, but it's worth every second.
A. S.
Awesome burgers. You can always tell how good a burger joint is by the line up of people and this place had so many people waiting for a burger. I would definitely recommend a visit if you haven't been there before. If you have been there then you know what I'm saying is true
M. F.
Pretty good burgers. Service a bit slow. But the burger and general ambience really tickles my happy place.
B. H.
This place is unreal burgers where amazing. I had the cram and had EVERYTHING in it! And was massive!
B.
Yummy!!! Home made great food with an open fire to sit around and enjoy!!!
M. a. h. c. t. V.
Great food. Worth a visit
K. L.
Best gourmet burger in town! Recommended to anyone who knows how to enjoy a real burger. Size is just spectacular can barely fit in my mouth. The meat is thick and super juicy. Price wise is just right for what your getting and vibes are amazing there. Bond fire during winter and for the ones who dont want the kids to be close to all of the fire and traffic on the road etc they have a gated off sitting area aswell as a train restaurant which is also amazing. Great burgers, great portion, great vibes. Highly recommended by me!
T. F.
Alfred's is always terrific! Great Pea and Ham Soup, the best hamburgers and good chips. Add to this a real fire in season, wide-ranging customers and the mix is great. Extensive hamburger menu, a train carriage with seating - it's terrific!
I. G.
Alfreds never disappoints. Amazing food and a chilled atmosphere. If you've never been to Alfreds and you love food then you are missing out.
P.
Best place for a home made burger with the lot in Perth on a cold night
J. O.
Best burger in town and soup and the customer service
P. W.
Loved this place. The atmosphere is great with different seating options. Loved the train carriage which is air conditioned. Food was great and service a lot faster than expected with a number of people waiting when we arrived
c. c.
Typical aussie burger joint with a laid-back feeling. Unfortunately 10 years ago it was a secret of the local but now a very busy location. Great burgers but expect to wait at least 30 minutes for them.
S. W.
Bustling Friday night, nice steak burger. Will visit next time I'm in town.
G. V.
Not sure what the fuss is about this place... burgers and chips were okay but seriously not anything amazing. They were just... ordinary burgers. No special bun, toppings or anything in that sense you can’t get from a decent cafe, bar or mid range fast food burger joint.
Not worth the drive out there if you live a distance out.
K. “. W.
The best burgers and the best soup!
We drive for 50 mins here for a burger and as a vego I have to say they really do the beat vego burger on the planet.
Love the idea of eating in the train carriage, be prepared to wait a while for your food though, this place is mega popular.
Very reasonably priced too!
S. N.
Amazing Burgers just like roadhouse diners of the 80s! and a soup option for starving small kids who want something instantly and is easy to eat! An ultimate stop after a whole day playing at Woodbridge Park!
P. L.
Alfred's is a WA institution, here you will find some of the best burgers in the state. The servings are generous and well priced. The only downside is that with quality comes popularity and in turn it can take a while to get served here, in addition, parking can be a pain. (If you don't want to mess around looking for a spot in their carpark, there's plenty of street parking across the road)
Tip: You can phone in your order, many of the regulars do - that said, I don't mind the wait, so I don't bother...
Alfred's expanded their kitchen a few years back and added extra street-side seating, and now they're expanding again, adding more outside seating as well as an indoor dining area (inside an old rail car)
b.
Amazing burger with such a cheap price
E. L.
Burgers are a good price and tasted pretty good. It didn't amaze me as much. Nice atmosphere with the open wood fire for anyone to sit down. It gets really busy here so expect delays
D. J.
A Perth institution, especially on cool winter nights by the fire. Grab a cup of pea and ham soup while waiting for your burger. Plenty of seating choices- by the firepit, inside the train carriage or at the picnic tables. Environmentally minded, with easy to understand waste sorting once you're done.
U. R.
Been going here for 20 years, best Pea and ham soup and awesome steak burgers
J. C.
Burgers are very decent and we'll priced. Chips are always fresh and hot. Great firepit to sit around while you wait. There's a good reason these guys are always busy!
G.
Wow, great burgers! Fire outside in the evening.
Place where even the police go because they know it's so good.
Can't say the staff is amazing but I'm sure they get the runaround with drunkard patrons (opens at 5pm and closes 3am Friday/Saturday)
Big basket of fries (chips) too!
D. W.
Pea and ham soup with a burger sitting in front of the fire pit on a nippy nighy ... heaven :)
C. O.
I know people rave about them that why we went first time amazing.
Today yuk never again, ordered bacon cheese and egg. Asked for no sauce just wanted plain burger with a bit of tomato.
Waited an hour and a half and it wasn’t busy either. It was cold and swimming in tomato sauce, which I can’t eat that’s why I said no sauce
It was horrible even the cat wouldn’t touch it
Never again
J. H.
Super delicious!!! Forgot my pickles tho 😥😥😥😂😂😂
J. B.
Nice hot pea and ham soup on a cold night next to the open fire at alfreds kitchen with a tasty burger, definately give this place a go👍
J. F.
it was worth the long wait, the burger had a very home made feeling to it, it was delicious, probably some of the best I ever had, although its far to me but its not a place I would consider coming back in long time due to lack of sitting area.
A. L.
Open late. Firepit in outside seating area. Make sure you tell them how you like your hamburger cooked otherwise it comes out still pink inside. Great chips.
T. D.
The most amazing burgers ever!!! The Cram and the Alfred's Special are my favourite... Despite always being busy, the staff are quick and helpful and great to deal with. Their chips are AMAAAAZING and they offer chicken salt and vinegar in a spray bottle so you can get your chippies just right... A must-visit place in WA if you love to eat!
I dont even LIKE pea and ham soup, but Alfred's makes it great!
C. L.
Seriously awesome burgers at reasonable prices. Great sized portions, fresh and uber tasty. The chips are pretty darn good too!
Grill'd and Jus burgers have nothing on Alfreds - they both give you smaller burgers with less toppings and charge you more for the privilige!!!.
M.
Alfred's Kitchen is one of those icons you have to visit before you die. Put it on your bucket list before you forget. It's open 'til late with a relaxed atmosphere and fantastic food. Stop in after doing a pub crawl or grab a bite to eat with the kids and stand around the fire to warm up on a cold Winter's night. They make their famous Pea and Ham Soup and great tasting Steak Burgers. Very popular with the locals and visitors alike
A. H. (.
Unfortunately was unable to get a burger from here on Friday night was it was unbelievably busy.
Past experiences have always been great!
I recommend calling ahead.
賴.
The sandwich is very tasty.
Chips and gravy the chips not crispy because put in take away box ,gravy sauce is good.
And the atmosphere is pretty good especially the train style area, you can see the train pass by.
L. G.
Had a steak burger and chips the steak burger wasn't bad not the best and the chips were terrible tasted if they were Fried in old oil.
S. C. (.
Finally got to try out the well-known Burger Joint in Guildford (or I should say in Perth). Ordered the hamburger with cheese and egg (I’d prefer the egg yolk to be slightly runny), I’ve added a tad bit of mustard and tomato sauce on my hamburger patty as I enjoy the mustardy and tomatoey flavour. Chips were okay but portion was huge (super generous), we didn’t manage to finish the chips so we ended up taking away the leftover. I’ll get the pea soup during my next visit.
Sauces, serviette, salt and vinegar are all available for you at all time.
I went there at around 1pm and it wasn’t busy, I assume it’ll get busier later the day. I’ll definitely come back for the Alfred Special and Hawaiian burger, heard that they’re da BOM!
S. C.
Absolutely amazing! I was told to expect a wait but the line was short, lucky me. Had an awesome hamburger and some great pea and ham soup. Friendly staff, great food, immaculate toilets. Definitely recommend it.
S. M.
Great pea soup and steak sandwich.
D. H.
Absolutely awesome an the food excellent 👍
Y. P.
Good tasre ..... nice price...... kind business hours....
U. P.
Always friendly service, even though often busy. Love the outdoor ambience. Food is great and their signature dish, pea and ham soup, is always special.
A. R.
Excellent venue has BYO alcohol and great fenced off seating area and seating in train carriage. Great food especially the chips.
M. B.
Tasty and fresh. Bit of a wait, but worth it.
h. L.
Very good burger and cheap in Perth.
W. T.
Alfred's does burgers, these are not fancy and trendy burgers, they are plain and simple straight up hamburgers, this is not a bad thing as they are done impeccably. Lots of variations to chose from chips are good and thier pea and they also have a pot of famous pea and ham soup on the go.
If you are on the fence about going, just do it, there is only one Alfred's and it's good honest food.
J. R.
Perth's own slice of Red Dead Redemption. Great food. Great ambience. A legendary joint by the side of the road and the side of the train tracks.
S. P.
Been hearing about this place for some time so I took a drive out there and it did not disappoint. Had a steak burger with chips. The steak was tender and the sallad fresh. Chips crisp, can't ask for more. I will be back.
A. H.
Perfect burgers and chips. A must have burger in a fairly convenient location, but beautiful old train carriage decor. Can be super busy though, a lot of wait
K. B.
Terrific burgers. Parking is easy. Social distancing is maintained. Will go again despite living more than 60 klms near Mandurah.
N. E.
We've been going here for years, I think A's K serves the best steak and hamburgers, very tasty pea and ham soup, plus a great fire pit when cooler, so would thoroughly recommend a visit to Alfred's Kitchen......
T. J.
Yummm! Steak burger was cooked to perfection and Gravy on the chips is delicious too
L. B.
Awesome place! The hamburger with the lot is great and so are the chips with gravy. There's even a fire pit to eat / wait near on cold nights.
D. J.
Great spot. Institution of Perth
J. T.
Always has been my go to burger joint. The CRAM is my favorite. Just because it's got everything I love in it. Don't forget to try the ham and pea soup too.
J. F.
One of Perths best burger joints, easily. Forget the fries, get it with a pea and ham soup and sit by the fire and enjoy.
If you are in a taxi on the way home from a big night out and don't stop for feed you really should assess where you are in life.
6 out of 7 stars .
J. B.
First time as a life long Western Australian. Alfred's reputation has sustained the test of time. Not really sure that the reputation is deserved. Burger not bad but expensive and nothing to rave about. Double steak was almost a decent single steak. Van Eileen's eats in Cottesloe back in the day killed it.
C. “. N.
Established in 1946 this roadside burger bar has it all. Steeped in tradition, from the open fire pit to the classic old school wood fired stoves that cook the famous Alfred's pea and ham soup. The burgers are just the way burgers are meant to be. No frills, fancy sauces or coloured buns. Just a well made tasty burger at a great price.
You could actually that Alfred's is an nostalgic institution for W.A. that is world famous. If you are visiting Perth on holidays, you must add this to your bucket list and make a night of it.

The fire pit out the front is handy on cold nights but the location is what is is. Would be perfect if it was out un mundaring near the dams, that's the kind of feel it has. The service is good, but something has changed fed in the food the last few times I have been. Nothing wrong with it, but it's not the same as it was previously. Definitely worth it for a cruise stop or a catchup place.
D. B.
Best burgers in Perth! Always plenty of people here. They have a fire out the front in winter so you can keep warm while you eat.
C. M.
Good honest food and a warm fire - absolute staple place in Perth and you can see why it's survived for 60+ years. If you just want something tasty with no gimmicks this is a must visit!

Amazingly, brilliant, wonderful, scrumptious, FOOD! This iconic stop by the railway in Guilford has an utterly brilliant vibe with it's community gathering feel, open style raised firepit and seating, overhanging verandahs for inclement weather, and sense of kinship you get to enjoy with everyone else eating there too, a rare commodity in this day and age!
You can sit there and stare into the flames while awaiting your order, or chat with others and make new friends from around the world! Be prepared to meet folk who have been eating there for their entire lives, and whole families for multiple generations!
It's quite an experience outside in the crisp near-hills air, with the scent of the woodsmoke, the huge variety of people, and yes, there is great parking too- facing it, to its right is its own car park and to its left is the train station carpark, and I navigate the entire place in my old wheelchair- so it is disabled friendly!
Iconic and memorable, Alfreds Kitchen has a proud tradition of gormand excellence. Unashamed of its heritage and roots -yes, it IS a truck stop- the food belongs in a sky tower restaurant with nothing under a hundred, yet luckily for us it isn't, it is a Western Australian secret. Your stomach won't complain and neither will you it is so tasty, so please dont let the truckstop label put you off visiting there; it is a part of its wonderful identity, vibe, and how such great food was designed in the first place!
I love food and love sharing about it, but sadly dont get to often so superlative food like this is a rarity for me, where they do what they do, so well, that they rewrite the standards!
Purveyors of eye openingly luscious burgers, generous serves, and homemade soup wonders. Alfred's Kitchen is a place that EVERY foodie should try at least once, and once you've eaten there, once is Not enough!!! 😁
Enjoy!!!

What a beautiful place to stop for lunch. It can get very busy, so picking the right time and day is important. Their menu is for the meat eaters, with only a few vegetarian options. Their Pea and Ham soup is extremely yummy.
A. T.
Alfred's is a West Australian institution with a range of great value old-school burgers. Don't forget to get a (small) pea and ham soup while you wait for your orders. The addition of an air conditioned train carriage has turned this place into an all-weather option. Look for the open fire out front during winter and don't forget to stop on your way home from a night out!
K. M.
Has been the best hamburger, chips and pea soup burger place for over 40 years. Staff are great. Plenty of parking and come away extremely full and happy.
E. D. B.
There is no better burgers than these. Cram lived up to its name. Huge!!! Chips very crispy and very generous serve. 2 hambugers with extras did not disappoint. The famous pea n ham soup was tasty thick and meaty - a pinch short of my mums version. 5 stars to Alfreds - every time.
K. R.
Went to the VW club this evening for the first time, very enjoyable.
The burger and pea and ham soup was awesome

12 years between visits (different states) still on top of the things to do..

From the time you order to the time you get n eat your food Alfreds Kitchen rocks it. The best service n burgers, soup n chips n gravy in Perth.
Other burger shops please take note as to wat a great burger looks/tastes like n how to wrap it....Well done Alfreds, love it.
A. J.
A Guildford classic, recently been renovated so there's plenty of space to sit now. Quintessential classic burgers don't get any better, grab some home made soup and a burger and warm up by the fire pit, a recommended try if your in Perth in the area
D. B.
It's an overused cliche but Alfred's is definitely an "institution". It wouldn't have been serving burgers for so long if they were rubbish, which they're not. Alfred's gives a great feed and in winter the Pea and Ham soup is awesome. If to you're just visiting, then treat yourself and train out to Guildford and grab a burger, you won't be sorry.
S. R.
Can't beat good old fashioned service, a good, alternative venue and is super trendy in its own cozy, soup kitchen but not kinda feel. Young n old, Asian, backpacker n locals. Good on cold nights. Highly recommend the soup. U have to have the soup. 😊
A. V.
Fantastic! Easily my favourite junk-food outlet nation wide. Dearly miss it being over in the east. Nothing compares to the Alfreds Special and the Secret ingredient Pea and Ham soup. (P.S. Secret ingredient it is made with is called 'delicious').
L. t.
When we were teenagers, we drove from Medina to Alfred's Kitchen for the pea & ham soup and burgers, now we are in our 70's we drive from Belmont to Alfred's Kitchen for the love of the soup still cooked on wood stoves and great burgers. Top quality tucker! x♥
A. P.
Good size burgers but the flavour isn't quite there.
J. M.
Great place to get late night food, can't beat a cold night with warm soup by a fire. Their burgers are also well worth going for.
V. T.
The bomb...Amazing best burgers in perth for sure people..A must go for anyone. Kid friendly great people, great atmosphere ,bloody great food, and a price better than the other takeaway ( HJ) (Mac) which is killa, but it just Better in every way....Go check it out for ya self...On ya Alfred's we will see u soon.
E. T.
Finally I got a chance to try this famous burger joint. The taste of burger and sandwich are nice, but nothing is really special can make me to drive there just to get the burgers. But if I'm in that area and I'm hungry, I might go there.
L. J.
Great atmosphere! Casual and homey. Food was amazing! Can't beat the pea soup. My Steak burger was divine! Defo going back again!
F. B.
Burgers are pretty good here. Would definitely recommend trying them. But a bit expensive. Some burgers are $15. Great atmosphere except for the bikes that frequent this spot.
T. H.
Oozing tradition and its own unique atmosphere Alfred's easily rates as a must do place when it comes to Burgers. Home Kitchen styling and appeal brings you a menu of straight up comfort food and warmness. "Home Made" soups, hand cut chips and burgers made the way they did in the 1940's fits in perfectly with the historic township of Guildford.
C. R.
Gotta love the burgers and pea soup from Alfred's!
Best in the west - or anywhere for that matter!
There's a reason this place is still going strong!
If you haven't tried Alfred's, put it on your bucket list!
J.
Delious tasty burgers and chips 👌👌
R. W.
We find the food is delicious & the location is great. Love the staff too.
d. c.
12/10. First time eating there and was amazing. Definitely worth the 40min drive. Little bit if a wait. But 100% worth it. 💙
T. B.
My 1st visit, in short it was ok and a different 'burger' experience, but was not outstanding. Old timers say it was better yrs ago and i have to agree. I wouldnt rush back for another burger but i wouldnt avoid it either. The burger was a tad dry and luke warm temp wise, they were very busy tho that nite.
Im sure there are better places with burger joints nowadays a dime a dozen.
A. D.
Love this place. Best burgers and of course their famous pea n ham soup. They now have more parking available too.
c. d.
Uniquely Australian. For Over 50 years this was a meeting place to eat sit around the fire and share a moment with a total stranger. And glad to see it still is that special place for many .best known for its pea and ham soup and burgers
S. R. (. D.
Best steak sandwiches
M. “.
Awesome, some of the best burger's in Perth :-). Especially in winter with pea and ham soup to start with, especially huddled around the fire it the front. Highly recommend "special" chili burger for chili lovers :-)
W. L.
If you are looking for the best burger in Perth, then you have to visit this place. The burger is huge and sooo tasty. I order steakburger, so good.
J. M.
Nice food, and it's a nice outdoor place to chill with mates. (It's the only place of its kind in Perth to have an out door fire and do signature pea and ham soup.
N. A.
Alfred's Kitchen as always never disappoints I'm A Hamburger pig n my burger was awesome n mate got their specailty Pea n Ham soup said it was great as usual.
Best place to go for a late night feed xox
M. D.
Great burgers and chips, can be busy but phone ahead and there was no waiting.
B. P.
Do not bother with macca's after you have been here. The wait in the cold is worth it. there is a bon fire sometimes which is quite nice to eat your burger in front of. Do not know how they do it but the meat does not make the burger soggy and fall apart like at vburger where you have to skewer the darn thing. Clean eating and great atmosphere. Definitely one of my fav go to burger joints in perth. if you are here for the day ..this is the place to get your lunch or dinner.
T. B.
Great food as always.Pea n ham soup over chips to chase down a cram burger is the way to go!
R. B.
5 Stars- try the Alfreds Special Burger, large chips or lentil burger, pea n ham soup. 12pm till 12am or litttle after. Alfreds will become a WA icon.
N. L.
Great experience any night of the week. Can be relaxing, lively and cosy. Good with family and friends, or a night out. It has public amenities, wood fire on busy/ cold nights and wide seating area, including an old outdoor train to sit in.
D. V.
Show me a place that can match the excelent quality, brilliant taste and impeccable value in Melbourne, I dare you to try.
A local gem that has built up a cult following for surrounding communities.
Unusual spread of traditional and twists for burgers and over 600L of their signature pea and ham soup, there will be somethinf for everyone.
S. B.
Never had a better burger anywhere else in Perth. Pea and ham soup is affordable and out of this world. Highly recommend
D. N. G.
Nice place nice ambience nice food cheap and great stuff. Alfred's special is recommended
M. B.
Great tasting burger but 30 minutes for my single burger order to come out is too slow. They weren't even busy.
P. H.
Alfreds have the best burgers by far tonight’s choice is the extra extra hot chilli burger they are great with people with disabilities and framing laminating and Mo just find the hot fire and you’ll be there definitely the Hart Of Guildford
R. B.
Great staff, customer service, consistency of quality burgers etc. Hopefully will remain in Aussie hands for another 50 years!
I. G.
I liked the burgers. The brunette waitress (Aussie looking one) on the other hand, was extremely rude. It's a shame. There is no need for that. Hopefully it was not going to be repeated though I doubt it as she was rude not only to us.
T. T.
Always amazing food, pretty fast. Would recommend phone ordering to skip the usual busy queue there. Pea and ham soup is a must have!
V. W.
Had the yummiest burgers here on a Friday night. Great setting sitting outside around a fire or at a table in the tram. Reasonably priced & good service.
Z. R.
The quality of food is always consistent and their vegetarian burger is tasty! I always call ahead with my order and never have any problems. Best burger & chips in the area by far.
S. S.
Tasty burgers. Pea and ham soup to die for and exceptional setting by the train line with old train car and fire pit
R. H.

Who doesn't like Alfred's ?
Great burgers ,iconic home made pea and ham soup. Great chips and a great place to people and plane watch (It's close to the finals of Perth Airport)
A. B.
The only place to go to when you want a fantastic burger, I think this is the best burger place in Perth. Great for kids and small parties as there is a train carriage used out back and an alfresco area.
J. B.
Perfect spot for an informal bite. Quick and freindly service. Homemade Lentil burger was very tasty!
S. G.
Good priced burgers in a quite different setup, more home made style rather than commercialised. This also reflects the menu names the food on offer are called what it is no fancy pants names like Chilli Addict or Sir Truffle instead you will be faced with Hamburger, cheese and bacon or Double Bacon....
3 Star ratings is more for the crowded atmosphere on weekend lunch time which you could encounter.
It is worth a visit, do not expect just pop in and let your tastebuds take a ride, btw free parking on side is provided.
L. D.
This place is great, the food was yum. Staff friendly good service.
T. J.
A miserable rainy night, pull up at Alfred's for a double steak with egg and bacon burger. First bite of that masterpiece and it's "what rain". Great place Alfred's. Workers do a magic job, have done forever.
D. T.
The Alfred special is delicious and by far the best put together burger/sandwich I've ever had... It's monstrous and doesn't fall apart... It's crazy
M. G.
Always friendly and convenient, never been let down with food prices and portions. Great for an after work feed or a midnight craving. Have been coming here for a good 15 years
S. E. D.
This is a Perth landmark, popular for their burgers and pea and ham soup. If you're new to Perth and haven't been there (and lets face it, if you haven't been there then you must be new to Perth) do yourself a favour and go there.
M. M.
Great memories of pea & ham soup & hamburgers lived up to expectations I am glad they have lasted & hope everyone gets along to keep them going
J. J.
Great burger, perfect setting with a fire cranking... love the late open hrs.
R. H.
Pea and Ham soup was one of the best I have had, Hamburger was good but the Bread Roll was very good, Haven't been there for many years but have promised myself to eat there more often.
D. K.
Alfred's Kitchen is an iconic burger joint in Guildford. There is a reason it had lasted for so long and continues to draw crowds each night. You get what you expect, good burgers.
M. P.
Love Alfred's and their burgers. My favourite chips and gravy available in Australia. Always have a hankering for them even though I'm a 20 minute drive.
L. W.
Still loved this place after 10 years. If anyone have a chance to go there, the cram burgers and the pea and ham soup are to die for. Highly recommended.
K. A. (.
Burgers great size.. I ordered cram burger which is great on size but bit bland in taste. Overall great customer service and great place to go.
D. E.
A Perth institution. Nothing beats a burger from Alfie's on a Friday night with a beer and a horror movie. Going there tonight, looking forward to that sweet traditional burger. Nothing fancy, just good old beef, salad, sauces and white roll 🍔 👍
I. W.
Iconic Perth landmark that serves good food. Every Perth resident should try this place for an old style burger joint with a roaring wood fire out the front in colder months.
A. G.
Great food and prices.
R. G.
a nice historic, romantic old ex railway building thats been serving the best burgers money can buy, and along with a cup of pea soup from the massive pot on the old fire oven and a fireplace to sit next to and warm yr hands upto. this is definetly one of perths best latenight burger stops.
s.
Cram that cram burger in me. Looking for good quality food after a big night out? Alfreds has got you covered with a wide selection of great burgers, soups and snacks. I recommend you try the cram burger =p
Y. S.
Money spent is worth every penny! The burgers were really big and good. Must try their signature soup!
N. S.
Long wait in peak times, but the meals are good and filling. Amazing vibe and lots of seating inside and out
L. M.
Always premium ingredients and old school burgers to satisfy anyone. Ive been going for over 20 years and its never changed. Steak burgers are my favorite.
