Comments of Five Guys
B. F.
As mentioned, it is on the pricier end however I think overall - you get what you pay for.
As a burger head, I think 5 guys is a hybrid of ‘fast food’ take away style & burger restaurant type food. The smashed patties are great, quality beef & very tasty. I also enjoyed the chips, cooked in peanut oil it definitely gives it a different, unique taste.
Will definitely be an occasional visit, time to time but I’ll definitely be back & I was not disappointed. Definitely worth the visit if you’re a burger lover!
Y. B.
I agree with all the comments. It is a good burger, but it's not cheap, for the price it's still a good option compared that they are better than the average pub burger. The burger size is actually huge and the standard is double patties. If you want single patties you need to order the little ones. The chips are really good and also huge. Large chips can be easily shared by 3-4 people. The soda refill is a nice plus. Just missing the bulk peanuts they used to offer for free in the UK and US, not sure if that's a covid restriction or not. Overall, it's a good option to try when you are around the area. I would come back again.

My absolute favourite burger on the planet. Have eaten Five Guys in U.S., Berlin and now Australia and always love every bite-full. Yes, it is pricey, but the quality and freshness of the meat, veg and bread is superior. You get what you pay for.
Shakes are also delicious!

HONEST REVIEW FROM AN ENJOYER OF FAST FOOD
This was my second visit.
For the burger, chips and drink (free refills) I paid around $35.
I seriously enjoyed the burger. As far as it went, I don’t think it could have been any better. The bun alone was tasty with nice texture. The meat was thick but soft. The bacon was just right but crispy too. The choice of toppings were lettuce, Mayo, grilled onions and mushrooms. It was a mouthful and seriously hit the spot.
The fries were better than when this place opened, in that this time they were actually full length. They are nice and unique with potato skin still on them. Alone they taste nice - but they seriously need better seasoning or salt. They tasted very plain which was seemed unnecessary.
They have quite a few choices at the soda fountain which is really great to see considering they’re virtually non existent elsewhere. But unfortunately on my visit, the soda machine was a little flat which detracted from the enjoyment of it.
If the fries could be more flavoursome and the drink machine kept up to standard, I would have been extremely satisfied.

I had been to Five Guys in the States and enjoyed so was looking forward to trying it at home. The cheeseburger is a double beef patty and with all the toppings was a big soggy mess. The beef wasn’t seasoned well at all so unfortunately didn’t taste nice. The chips were very nice and the chocolate milkshake was great. The grilled cheese was a joke.
As others have said this place is horribly overpriced. Not worth it at all. Even at a much more decent price I don’t think I’d go back.
m. c.
Great burgers even more delicious are the fry’s. You can’t leave without a creamy chocolate milk shake in your hand.
This is fancy dine in burgers , a tad pricey around $50 for 2 people. Worth it if your in the area 🤤quick service and very covid friendly. Cleaning after every table use!
S. O.
Great experience at this highly rated burger joint.
Ordering was a breeze, even thou I had no idea what I was doing at the beginning.
I ordered the bacon cheeseburger burger, large chips and large drink.
BTW it’s free refills, just like in the US.
The cheeseburger was awesome. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.
J. L.
A bit overpriced but the ingredients are fresh and delicious. Staff are very friendly, good customer service. Peanut butter milkshake is thick and nice. Some said Caijun fries are a bit much, but it was okay for my bf and myself since we like caijun. When you order burgers, add a lot of fresh toppings then it would cover the price :))

Never been to burger bar before like Five Guys, but it was worth a visit. Expensive, but also worth it! They are pretty good and I have loved it for topping up my burger, but that's too much calories of intake compare in the USA where I've tried it 2 Xmas's ago. Even though, I got hungry and it was amazing including the shake I've tried however, the paper straw really drive me mad when I had to sip it! I'd give around 4 to 4.5 out of 5 review. I'm hoping to come back in Penrith for some more or if somewhere in Campbelltown area would be greater where I closely live.
E. O.
Delicious food, cool aesthetic, and friendly staff. However.... as most people you ask will say, the food is over priced, and in my opinion not justifiably so. I feel if a 15%-20% price reduction, this place would be perfect, and set up a great location for the rest of Australia to follow

First time trying Five Guys.
Burger was delicious. Quite overpriced at $21 but it did taste nice.
Ordered Cajun Fries. Beware if you get these as it appeared like 8 separate people each decided it didn't have enough salt so they added more. As such it was almost unbearable to eat. 60% Cajun salt 40% chips. Maybe get the normal salted fries.
Milkshake tasted nice but the bacon option I added did not fit in the straw so it kept clogging up the straw and made drinking the shake difficult. Either make smaller pieces or give a bigger "bubble tea" like straw.
Cannot fault the friendliness of the staff. They were chipper and lovely/helpful.
As some have stated, the pricing is quite expensive for what it is. I fear the novelty will wear off soon and it may struggle to compete in an area already inundated with far cheaper food options.

Update: third visit now and the consistency in the quality is amazing. Burgers done well here and the freshness of the ingredients really shines.
I was super excited when Five Guys announced it was opening a store in Australia, I lived in the UK for 5 years and first experienced it there and was hooked. The burgers and fries are all made fresh on-site, there is nothing that comes frozen which makes for a ready tasty burger and fries. The quality of the food is outstanding, it’s not really ‘fast food’. I see there are a lot of low-star reviews because of the price but Five Guys is a direct competitor to Maccas or other fast food, it’s quality made to order fresh. Similar to Shake Shack or In n Out burgers.
I had the hamburger with cheese and for sides added lettuce, grilled onions, ketchup, mustard and relish - absolutely yum! Unlimited refills on fountain soda drinks as well which is a bonus.
Currently there is no eat-in option, only takeaway until further Covid restrictions are lifted. Staff are friendly and there is a lot of staff which is good. Burgers take about 15mins to cook because they are made to order - super fresh!
Heaps of on-site parking as well. Great burgers and experience, can’t wait to go back (it’s a 68km drive for me so it won’t be a regular dining option, more of a bi-monthly treat!)
A. H.
Quick to order and food came out not too long after even for a weekend. Food wise, tastes like a fresh quality burger but nothing to rave about especially when you're paying $20 a burger alone without anything else. Fries were Cajun style and on the spicy side. Most local takeaway shops do a similar or better burger in my opinion. Worth a try if you're in the area.
H. B.
Super friendly and attentive staff, honestly quite pricey but worth it for the experience. My burger was well loaded and was assembled perfectly ...none of that Macca's patty slipping out the side nonsense. Fries were super fresh, full of flavour.
Unlimited refills are a plus however 5.90 for a cup is highway robbery.
Overall, I'd come back as a special treat.
M. Y.
Five Guys in L.A. are my favourite burger chain of all time. So I expected a lot from Five Guys in Sydney. Unfortunately, it just didn't live up to that expectation. Service is surprisingly slow for the amount of staff they have on. There seems to be around 5 people standing around doing nothing.
Decor is great, burger is very similar to the U.S. version of Five Guys, but the food wasn't as hot as one would like. While the fries have the same texture as the U.S. fries, they were a little soggy. With all that being said, it's nice to have Five Guys in Aus, they just need to fix their teething problems.
The pricing is also much too expensive.
T. M. T. S.
It's really tasty. Look it is expensive and may be a once a month type of thing. But you will go out of your way to get this. So tasty and so yummy and the fries omg the fries!!!! Good vegetarian options too. The shakes are good but at 10 a pop maybe just go for the refill sodas. Unless you're a fan of whipped cream... (it's the best whipped cream I've ever had in my life)
S. (.
Great burgers. So fresh and tasty. That's where the good news ends. $66 for 2 burgers, 1 large chips, 1 toastie and 2 drinks is just ridiculous for fast food. I think this place will be a 'visit once and never again' place for most people.
M. L.
Fantastic service and delicious burger! Pro tip though that I had forgot because it's been 10 years since I'd had five guys in the states, if eating alone just get the smallest drink and fries because you get so many fries and the drinks are self serve so you can refill! I got regular of both when I could have easily got little which is their small!
P. S.
Even though the 5 burgers plus the 2 different chips are pricey but it's worth the pricetag for something similar to Betty's Burger and with the Burgers you can choose 15 free toppings of your choice plus there's unlimited soft drinks refill when you dine in plus milkshakes and beers available.
Five Guys gets their produce fresh daily as they don't have freezers.
C. S.
When Five Guys first opened, I was concerned it would be another tourist trap - overpriced food with the allure of being a foreign food chain brought to Australia in hopes of making a quick buck off of nosy Aussies, but this couldn't be further from the truth. The staff here are wonderful, the building is clean and welcoming, the interior always feels so welcoming and vibrant, and, most importantly, the food is genuinely and consistently outstanding.
I have never tasted a better burger than the cheeseburger at Five Guys (and I've had a lot!) - and while I've had some great burgers in my time, the difference here is that Five Guys are consistently immaculate every single time I've been. The quality is fantastic, top to bottom.
Admittedly, the prices are a little steep, averaging $25 - $30 for a single meal, but with unlimited drink refills, as many free burger toppings as anyone could dream of, and the 1.5x fries you get with each order, not to mention the flavour in and of itself, it truly is worth it as a treat. Definitely recommend coming here to taste it for yourself.
Also a shoutout to Lane, the staff member that served me this evening. His energy and pure joy for life prompted me to leave this review. Keep up the great work, 5G team. I'll definitely be back.
C. C.
Diamond burger prices!
1 burger, 1 bacon burger, 2 regular fries, 1 vanilla shake, 1 bacon shake = $55!!!! That includes a 20% tip, but whay would a fast food place even ask for a tip?
I know its not frozen and they dump extra fries in but $55 is ridiculous for meal that wasn't demonstrably better than other fast food places.
Never going again.

If you are thinking AMERICAN sizes, think again!!
Burgers are good quality, freshly made and pretty standard in taste. They are just like homemade, with a mincemeat unflavoured pattie.
The Burger is a decent serving size, definitely not what you would expect as an 'AMERICAN' size, it was smaller than anticipated from reading other reviews, my teenage son wasn't full after a cheese Burger with nearly all toppings.
I was disappointed that cherry was not a milkshake add in as I saw online for five guys and was what I went in for.
Hot chips were really good, we tried the five guys seasoning. I bought a large because other reviews stated it was very large portions enough for a family.. well it wasn't enough for 2 people..
The staff were friendly and the attitude was very helpful and exciting..

Visited 28/12/2021.
Fantastic. Don't let detractors ($$) stop you visiting.
This is how fast food dining should be. Clean restaurant, great food, good vibe.
For ordering you choose a burger or hotdog as the base. We had a range but bacon cheeseburger seems the go. Bacon here is crispy American style and adds a heap of flavour. From there you add toppings. Don't forget to add ketchup/mustard as it's not automatic. To keep it simple ask for "all the way" which gets you the toppings in black from the menu.
The highlight of these burgers is the meat, fresh not frozen and you can tell as each patty is cooked through but very juciy due to a pretty good meat/chuck ratio. I'd prefer if the patties weren't well done, but that's a personal preference and they're still juicy. Great tasting with condiments, burgers don't fall to bits and just have a great balance. TBF, you can get burgers with more flavour elsewhere, but they'll fall to bits. The combo of eatability and flavour is spot on here.
Chips are hand cut, skin on, salted. Tops. Soft drinks are free refills and the milkshakes are all made to order and you can add multiple items to them. Oreo pieces are spin through, pretty darn good.
Final highlight is they permanently have a staff member cleaning the dining room. Keeps the place COVID safe and turning over the tables for next customers. It's busy, and for good reason.
Some people are put off by the price, this is quality food and we'll worth it. Will visit again!

If you come here with the intention of replacing your usual trip to McDonald’s or Hungry Jacks then you are sure to be impressed by the food, but not so much the price - a common complaint. I understand the frustration but you have to look at five guys as not a fast food restaurant but a ‘fast food theme park’ where you pay a premium to experience a little slice of American cuisine.
J. J.
Very nice burger, chips, hot dog and shake.
Friendly staff assisted ordering. It take 1hour to go but it was worth it. I definitely visit again. ☺ Thank you.
B. D.
Real fast food has finally made it to Australia. The not-frozen beef makes an enormous difference. Having tried Five Guys in the US, I can say the quality standards are the same if not better. Definitely worth the drive to try it out, the hand cut fries and milkshakes are fantastic as well.
J. M.
I’m from the US and when I heard that we finally got a Five Guys I had to check it out and see how it stacked up against the restaurants back home and to hopefully scratch that itch for a nice greasy, quality burger.
It was basically the same as back home! Same fresh beef, same grease-spotted bag, same overflow of fries (or maybe I just got lucky). The unwritten rule at five guys (at least in the states) is that you never order a large fries because even with a medium size you end up with a large portion size scattered throughout your bag. Cajun seasoning FTW.
We also tried a milkshake, which I never tried at Five Guys before. It was really good and you can mix different flavours and additions - we did salted caramel, malt, and coffee. At almost $10 I probably wouldn’t get it again but it was a nice treat for the ride home.
The service was also great - it was packed on a Friday night and the the line was out the door but they kept things moving and there were a ton of people working. No dine in yet with COVID restrictions, but the wait wasn’t terrible even though it was busy. They also have soda refills.
Look, for people saying “it’s basically hungry jacks”… you’re kidding yourselves.
As far as it being expensive, I just checked a location from where I lived in the states and a cheeseburger costs $11 there which is something like $14.50 in $AUD, so it is a little more expensive on paper. However, the cost of doing business in ANZ is also more expensive, and they have a liquor license, so it doesn’t seem terribly unreasonable me. (From my experience living in Sydney for ~3 years so far, *everything* is expensive!)
I would not compare it to traditional fast food like Burger King/hungry jacks, maccas, kfc, etc. A more fair comparison would be something like Grill’d, as they are more expensive than the fast food chains mentioned above but the quality is better. A burger at Grill’d costs about ~$16.
Don’t listen to the whingers, try it for yourself.
Just be prepared to spend more than you would at maccas or hungry jacks; cost-wise and quality-wise it is more similar to something like Grill’d.
J.
The food was solid! You can really taste the ‘no-freeze policy’…burgers were quality, hot dog was delicious, and the chips never disappoint! Brought back some serious good vibes from our travels. Just FYI any burger without ‘little’ in front of it has 2 patties.
Honestly can’t complain! Sure the price is a little dearer and it may not be the fast food joint you eat at every night, but you really shouldn’t be doing that anyway…
Nevertheless, I’ll be back sooner rather than later! Thanks for the solid feed 👍
s. d.
Was a nice burger. Definitely not worth the $21 (bacon cheeseburger). If it was a quater pounder and not a big mac size then maybe it would've been worth it. Left there hungry :( lol -- I'd probably go for a doubled quater pounder meal and be full and satisfied next time.. that said, the burger was tasty, so I couldn't fault it in that department.
3 stars based on the burger being tasty and not dissatisfying 😊 hope yous actually make the burger bigger to reflect the price being charged.
P. M.
Simple menu, easy to order!
The food food is spot on delicious. 🍔 🍟 Refill on the soda 🥤 Big size serves on food.
The food may be a little expensive next to other similar places, but we think it's worth it.
Clean, friendly staff plenty of parking.
G. N.
Compared to what's around, it's pretty good. Made fresh to order, twice the thickness of regular fast food patties. Better version of a Whopper. I imagine the other items are just as good. Worth trying the (very thick) milkshakes (malt ftw). Warning: standard burgers are double patty.
B. W.
Customer service is good, Food is pretty expensive, but the trick is to take advantage of all the free extras to get your moneys worth. Milkshakes are really tasty. Nice experience to have with friends. Probably wouldn’t go alone if I’m feeling like a burger, unless you got the dough 😜
I. F.
Reminiscent of my experiences eating from Five Guys around the globe, this one did not disappoint.
Service was quick and the burger was sublime, messy but so tasty.
The fries were at the usual high standard.
Definitely will be back.
H. C.
Bit pricey but burger and chips is very tasty and fresh. I also had mill shake. It was just okay and wasn’t really special.
S. R.
It was exactly like America’s five guys!
I’ve lived in NJ my entire life and only moved down under about a year ago. So happy this five guys opened up about 30min away from where I’m living. Would definitely recommend & definitely come back when craving that American style burger.
Yes it was pricey but honestly worth the burger & fries. The milk shake was a bust though.
N. R.
Great service, great food, only downside is price but fills you well!
Large fries big enough for 2-4 people I suggest sharing. Housemates and I got 2 lil fries and a large and we left with all the containers still full, t do
I got bacon hamburger with EVERYTHING (red and black toppings)
R. D.
Nearly identical to the Five Guys back in the US with taste. You won’t be disappointed with the food. Generous portions, fries are super fresh and check out their shakes. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone who wants a bit of a novelty from the US. It’s a nice “tasty” reminder of home. The only downside is the costs of the food, a bit steep but they are making it fresh so it’s understandable.
J. A.
Definitely overpriced. The food was quite average, not what you would expect when paying so much for fast food. The chips were well salted but soggy and not hot; and the burgers were decent without being amazing. One of the burgers didn't include bacon even though it costs more to have the bacon cheeseburger. The milkshakes were quite nice though and the service was relatively prompt.
G. S.
nice to give it a try. I think my reviews will be consistent with most. Very very good quality fresh burgers and ingredients, you can clearly see them make and assemble each one. The bacon on the bacon cheeseburger was really good too. All of the staff were also very lovely and patient. But expensive compared to other fast food so wont come here too often, but its worth it.
A. C.
Have been really excited for Five Guys to come to Sydney and they didn’t disappoint! The burgers are so tasty, really high quality ingredients including the very generous double beef patty. Not sure why there are a few negative reviews about the prices, they seem to be the normal for good quality food around Sydney including Penrith these days. Also if people want a cheaper option there is literary a McDonald’s next door. Just don’t expect the same quality. Can’t wait to go back!
B. T.
Objectively speaking, you would only really go here because you've heard that it's a burger chain with a cult following in the USA with a reputation for great food.
It is quite expensive, but the food is good. Fries were tasty, the grilled hot dog I had was great. You get what you pay for. But I wasn't blown away by the experience - I've had much better bang for my buck elsewhere.
Would make an ideal place for a first date or a place to hang out with mates, though I wouldn't go back on the regular...
It's certainly better than the borderline racist decor and tough steaks that the old Spur steakhouse was offering before Five Guys moved in!
Probably worth mentioning that cleanliness was a bit lacking I reckon. The tables seemed to not get cleaned and the floors were a bit slippery with grease (almost as if they weren't cleaning them properly). I gotta say, the toilets were sparkling clean though.
S. H.
High quality, delicious, fresh and generous menu. The staff working there are professional, positive and efficient too.
I was blown away by the awesome interior and authentic vibe. You can basically customise your burger with as many toppings as you want. The burgers were carefully arranged and you felt like they were made with love. I see that people are concerned about $... The most expensive burger is $21, but seriously you'd pay this price at any pub... this burger is miles better quality that any pub burger. You can't seriously compare this place to McDonald's, they are in two completely separate stratospheres.
I was very very impressed with Five Guys. Thank you!
A.
Friendly staff, nice dining environment, burgers tasted good...but such a remote location of shop...had to travel almost 30km to try them out...would I travel 30km to have the burgers again? Probably not...hopefully they will have one open soon at more populated areas
S. P.
Was a bit hesitant to give it a try due to some of the reviews posted. Definitely glad we tried it as we were pleasantly surprised with the overall experience.
The food, although pricey was great. The bacon cheeseburger had perfectly cooked crispy bacon, beef patties which were juicy and perfectly cooked. These paired with the cheese makes for an absolutely delicious burger.
The staff were also friendly and it was great to see a dedicated staff member continuously cleaning the dining area. Definitely recommend giving it a try if you can look past the price.
A. W.
Nice store, somewhat friendly staff
I feel like there were almost a dozen staff standing around doing nothing as there simply was not enough work. The menu is very basic, not much variety … and prices are okay but a little on the expensive side
if you’re Hindu and don’t eat beef this is not the place for you.
The food that we did order took almost 20mins but was nice and hot when it came
Average, nothing special
I’d recommend trying another place in the area
R. H.
Tried this place for the first time and was really impressed. The burger was great and sooo filling. I was a little surprised by the fries. I thought the five guys special would be something funny like curly fries except they were fries with skins on. But they were really good
Crunchy and soft inside. I had the bacon milkshake and it was yummy!! Reason for the 4 stars is, i think the music could have been a little softer. It is really hard to hear the people behind the counter and you can hear when they call your number. But I would definitely eat here again.
S. T.
Tried their little cheeseburger for the first time and it did not disappoint! Juicy thick pattie, lots of thick crinkle cut pickles, it really hit the spot. And it wasn’t too greasy which surprised me. Butter and BL Burgers are often very greasy leaving me feeling bloated, not this guy tho. Luv that u can add free toppings. The chips were crunchy even after an hour. It’s not the cheapest feed but I think the quality is worth it. Definitely recommended and will definitely come back!
H. J.
Australia’s one and only Five Guys. The burgers are expensive, but delicious. The staff were friendly and inviting.
Unfortunately the fries were far too salty and a bit undercooked, and the milkshakes were nice but the straws they provided were too thin for the thick paste of a drink.
Overall this is a good treat, but not a weekly fast food snack.
S. J.
No complaints about this experience! I was also paying for the memories of eating at Five Guys in USA. The food was in point and the chips are epic! Super clean venue and decent staff.
D. Y.
This burger chain didn't really meet to my expectations the burger wasn't the juiciest. Flavorwise it was bland only thing I loved was the toppings and the sauce. It wasn't the worst burger I've had but I've had better. The chips though are a bonus to have. But I generally wouldn't go here super often also its very expensive.
J. H.
Five guys was very expensive given it is a fast food establishment. We got 1x cheeseburger, 1x bacon dog, 1x chocolate milkshake and regular fries totalling $52. I expected the cheeseburger to have a unique flavour however it just seemed to be a standard burger, the fries was good however it wasn’t really anything spectacular especially since they really rave on about it. Finally the chocolate milkshake was so thick, it tasted like a melted chocolate ice cream and incredibly expensive at $10.
Not sure what business model they are trying to achieve, charging an excessively ridiculous price point which I would only expect from a restaurant establishment.
C. W. A. C.
Dirty American style burger. Tastes like it does in the states, but $19 for a cheeseburger is a bit nuts.
R. J.
Why is everyone complaining? This place is fantastic and near identical to the US stores (I've eaten Five Guys in New York). So fresh, especially the fries and if you read the rules on their prep it's the best you can get. Expensive? Versus the price of what you get at Macca's yet folks line up and buy horrid food that's small. Versus the US? Do you know how much staff there are paid vs Australia? Plus our other high costs. Anyways I really hope they open in Brisbane, I'll be there regularly. This store was ultra clean, staff were friendly and the food was quick. Toilets were clean, easy parking, and great layout inside.
D. P.
There is nothing wrong with the bacon cheeseburger I had it was ok, but frankly just ok. The Pattie’s were fresh but the bacon, mushrooms, onions are all precooked and plopped on, the tomatoes slices were large and nice and fresh, the lettuce was soggy and a very small serve. Overall it was underwhelming and about on a par with an ultimate whopper from Hungry Jacks at a much higher price. Any takeaway shop offering burgers will cook everything up fresh including onions, bacon egg etc fresh lettuce etc - a much superior burger at much less $. After $21 for the ordinary burger, the ultimate insult was the additional 27 cents charged for paying by card - really well yes it seams so, it sealed the deal for me even though it’s a stones throw from where I live it’s a once only visit for me. Visited Friday at around 7pm, very very quiet, I wonder why?
N.
Burgers are big and delicious. Chips are amazing and you get large a portion. I also enjoyed the caramel milkshake I ordered. It is on the expensive side so we can't eat here regularly but I highly recommend to try it at least once!
C. M.
I got the basic little burger and fries here and got a hefty serving. Chips are some of the best I've had you can even notice its un peeled potatoes. I just wish theres more branches, I'd come over and over for the fries
D. S.
I’ve been here several times now. It’s always been great.
Most of this negative review-bombing seems to be based on the pricing.
I wonder if most of these reviewers know that buying a burger anywhere else in Sydney (besides maccas and hjs) is about the same cost?
Admittedly its not the best burger around; but that’s probably because the Australian burger market has improved significantly over the past few years.
T. K.
It is expensive!! One bacon cheeseburger, regular fries and a shake $38.85.
The peanut butter chocolate shake is nice. It’s good. The burger you get to add whatever you want and and many as you want with no extra cost but it’s there built into the price. It’s not worth that much money. It’s very basic and not the best I’ve ever eaten to warrant going back to Penrith just to eat it. I can go to my local pub that does a burger just the same for cheaper and it’s actually worth the brag.
lol he restaurant is clean and the staff are very friendly and well trained. It’s a pleasant experience just an average everyday burger and fries that’s not worth the price.
J. C.
A pretty good burger: simple, unpretentious and old school flavour.
But for the price, you do expect something a little classier than the fish and ship shop burger of your childhood.
Chips also meh. Maybe better if eating in?
Worth a try but probably not a regular choice.
w. b.
Very nice. I’ve been waiting a long time! Because they use fresh wholesome ingredients the prices will of course be higher than Mac brand competitors. They maybe should have opened the first restaurant in an area that can afford quality fast food.
S. T.
The shake (Malted Milk flavour) was one of the best I've had. The rest was very average, at best. Burger, meh, fries meh, Hotdog also meh.. Nothing special about anything else, considering the cost. Won't go back. ($95= 2 x Burgers 1 x Hotdog 2 x Large fries 2 x refillable Drinks 1 x Milkshake)
A. M.
Was able to order the Fatty melt from their "secret menu". They let you customise anything and their price is reasonable for the quality. Please, open near the CBD!
Z. B.
Really bold bringing this chain to Australia. Having been to the one in L.A, thank you Five Guys for taking the big first step! Yes the menu is quite pricy but I'm sure that will be adjusted as more stores open. In regards to the burgers, shakes and fries.... PURE HEAVEN. Fresh, crisp and delightful. Really looking forward to coming here more.
C. H.
You can’t come here and expect Bar Luca, Suzie Dukes, Mate Burger, and just see it as fast food. It’s much nicer than Maccas and it was just overall tasty.
🍟The Cajun fries were nice but way over seasoned and a bit much to eat, I’ll try the regular fries next time.
🍔I got the little bacon cheeseburger and added grilled onions, Mayo, ketchup & mustard.
The bacon was super crispy which I loved, and I didn’t get the heavy sickly feeling afterwards, which was a nice change!
I’m not blown away but I really liked it and would get it again, especially after a big drinking sesh next door at panthers 😂
Follow @foodenthusiast.sydney for more reviews!

Burger wasn't bad but certainly not worth the prices they're charging.
Chips were pretty average.
While waiting for the order to be made, was told that sitting was not permitted.
Didn't know that Covid discriminated against people who sat instead of standing.
R. C.
I’ve been excited for Five Guys to open in Australia for years since trying it in New York.
The staff at Penrith were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant really clean!
The bacon cheeseburger I had was huge and solid - so good!! The fries were as good as I can remember, and there were loads of them shoved into the bag. The chocolate/coffee shake was also great!
Was it overpriced? A little, yes. But for the haters out there, no one is forcing you to order food from Five Guys and pay the premium price.
C. S.
Ordered a cheeseburger and large fries. The cheeseburger was quite substantial, with two beef patties and toppings of choice. It was very filling! I appreciate the great variety of toppings available to customise your burger. The fries I received were hot and fresh from the oil. They don’t skimp on the fries like other fast food places. However, the freshness varies as my friend’s fries were cold. Also, the fries were a bit over salted.
Overall, the quality of the food is above typical fast food places but the price is too much.
R. M.
Burgers were delicious, I had the bunless option others had the cheeseburgers 🍔. Fries were amazing. Service quick and size of the meal was great. Very tasty, only complaint is the price but I knew it was expensive going. A once off treat.
B. G.
We drove 60km to check these guys out and I can say it didn't dissapoint! We got a burger each, a large fries and 2 milkshakes and it was about $65, a little on the pricey side but hey its not far off what you pay for a meal out these days... We went and ate it in a park and really I can't fault them, everything was the sort of food where you just kinda drift off for a bit and enjoy that euphoria, very satisfying. The Chips pack a punch, the milkshakes were so creamy and the burger was great too.
Would definitely go again
g. l.
Tasty meat patties between fluffy bun, fresh, crisp salad, surprising tasty fast food that's not greasy or salty or overly sauced which is a very welcome change. Chips weren't overly salty or greasy either. The shake at $10 is pricey but I've never had a shake as good. Ever. 1 star off for charging like I'm eating at the Opera House.
R. T.
I loved the veggie sandwich which is actually a burger. It was awesome and not what I expected but better then what I expected. They have a seasoning for the chips and it’s so original. You can add stuff to the burgers with out any additional charge. My daughter was given free drink refill here as well. She had a hot dog and its better then what I was expecting. Service was great too..thanks 5 guys.
J.
Finally got my hands on it after trying it in Scotland many years ago. It was alright, bottom bun was very soggy and crumbled within a few bites, cajun fries were very strong, sent them back to be replaced by normal fries. Overall an average experience, but burger was very tasty. I shall return!
C.
The Cheeseburger tastes like a good home made burger made from quality ingredients. Cajun Fries were enjoyable and came in a generous serving. Peanut butter milkshake was too thick and hard to consume with the paper straws that were provided. Overall quite an expensive meal for what it is.
L.
Best milkshakes ever. I always get a strawberry shake when I can. They also have the best chips. Only problem they use really bad straws for their shakes that can't suck up the drink or get so soft and become useless quickly. Wish they could use the plastic ones.
C. W.
As we'd been to Five Guys in London, we knew what to expect and suffice to say they delivered. This is not a regular fast food place, it straddles the line between normal fast food and a quality burger joint.
While Five Guys is relatively expensive compared to fast food, it is also quite simply better. The taste is better, the quality is so much better, it satisfies your hunger and the atmosphere is quite nice inside.
I will happily go back while I can, if nothing else out fear that they will struggle in the Australian market and might not be around for very long.
H. H. (.
Five guys are the best fast food place in Sydney without a doubt. The food tastes fresh and they even tell you where it is sourced from. The unlimited free refuels is also mad.
X. Z.
Fantastic flavor, expensive price.
This fast food restaurant is for those customers who are not price sensitive.
A. q.
Not the same quality of burgers you get from Five Guys overseas.
The milkshakes and fries are great, will definitely go back for that...
But I'm disappointed with the burgers... The sacks of charcoal near the counters are just for show, as the paties are so bland. The lack of flavor really doesnt justify the price you pay for the burgers..
D. G.
Five Guys was a pleasant experience. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the venue was clean. The burger I ordered had super soft buns and was juicy and delicious. I had a bacon cheeseburger 'all the way' which had lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and mushrooms.
While I ordered a large fries, an extra generous helping was placed in the bag which ended up being too much to eat by myself.
The main criticism is the price. For 2 people with meals and thickshakes, the total was around 70 dollars. This makes it too pricey to be enjoyed regularly. The meat patties are not these skinny patties you get at Maccas or Burger King. They're more substantial, but you are paying for it.
Try it. You'll like it, but your mileage may vary on how quickly you'll want to return.
L. T.
Absolutely delicious burgers!! Fresh, hot, flavoursome with generous fillings. Quality ingredients compared to other fast food burger joints. Their fries are also BOMB and super crunchy and well seasoned. Although prices are more dearer than average and lines are long, it's definitely worthwhile grabbing an authentic American burger experience at Five Guys every now and then! Highly recommend.
H. M.
Overpriced for the quality of burgers and fries.
The bun was dough like, no bounce back on the touch and stuck to the roof of my mouth.
I ordered the veggie, the grilled mushrooms and onions were delicious but spoiled by the unproportionate amount of lettuce heart and thick slices of tomatoes.
Fries were generous but unfortunately soggy and needed more seasoning.
I guess the only positive part of this experience was the refillable sodas and the paper straw was able to withstand the soaking.
Won't be visiting again.

The reviews of Five Guys lacks an understanding of what this restaurant really is in Australia. The 3 star rating Five Guys maintains is almost completely due to pricing, with a plethora of reviewers comparing pricing to McDonalds or Hungry Jacks. However, despite its American diner/fast food aesthetic, Five Guys is much more than that.
The burgers here are incredibly flavourful and juicy, and are meticulously constructed. The open kitchen behind the counter lets you see how the workers in red function in tandem. Great customer service and experience.
Sure the 16-21 dollar burger range may be a little pricey but for what you get, I believe the food is more than just a novelty experience. I maxed out on the double-pattied bacon cheeseburger with plenty of the 'free' add-ons and it was a great burger.
The milkshakes are unique in their thickness and the many flavour combinations you can curate are a major bonus.
The food produced by Five Guys is incomparable to big food chains in Australia, and those who begin to compare the two are either bitter about pricing or have broken tastebuds.
I would definitely come again.
L. K.
First time here and loved it.
The burger tasted very fresh and the shake was yummy!😋
They dont do combo meals so order everything separately. Can get a bit exxy but worth it. You can order beers as drinks too!
Also you customise your own burger - 15 free add ons
They have 2 types of burger regular and little size - the only difference is regular has 2 patties and little ones have 1.
They have hot dogs as well.
Worth a try! :)
o.
Got 2 bacon cheeseburgers with cajun fries and a shake. Was $58. That is a lot of money. Definitely not somewhere to go for a family dinner, for example. The fries were very nice, spicy if a tad salty. The shake was thick and creamy. The burger overall was nice and cheesy, the patties just needed some seasoning. To be honest, my expectations were rather low so I wasn't disappointed. Overall, I do see what people are saying, I personally will not return but I enjoyed the meal for what it was.
D. C.
Okay, hear me out. The burgers aren't bad at all however the price is what impacts it. A burger on it's own can cost you $20 and this automatically raises the bar on expectations. Definitely worth a try I'd say.
If you do go, make sure you try their peanut butter milkshake!
T. R.
Tried the Bacon cheeseburger, fries and vanilla shake. Burger was tasty and a fair size. Chips...hmm ok, shake not too bad very thick. Overall good but the price for the meal was crazy. Could feed a couple for similar pricing at other restaurants.
D. D.
Five Guys is always a favorite for delicious burgers. Compared to the States, the prices are higher but that's everything in Australia. Things cost more but wages are also higher here.
Compared to somewhere like Grill'd, I don't understand why people are complaining about the prices. I would say they're in the same ballpark (getting an extra patty at Grill'd is what? $5 on top of the price of your burger?), and Five Guys tastes fresher to me personally, like good homemade burgers and fries, made from scratch.
For two people, I'd order two little hamburgers (or little cheeseburgers, little is just single patty), one little fries to share (they're generous with their servings), and two fountain drinks. That's about $50, which is a little bit more expensive than what you'd spend at Grill'd for a similar amount of food, except you'd make up for the difference if you got one refill on your fountain drink.
Service was great and the food came out pretty quick and tasted hot and fresh. Tasted just like Five Guys in the States, except I missed the peanuts. Will definitely be back, though.
K.
I think it’s time to turn things into a meal as opposed to keeping each individual food item seperate… does not meet the Australian standard of fast food at all. A company should consider and adapt to new demographics. It would be a shame to see Five Guys go down hill due to pricing, because they have amazing burgers.
D. Y.
Really clean big venue- staff were constantly cleaning. All staff were friendly and helpful. Very popular right before the footy game.
Food was pricey but fresh, everything tasted great and will come again.
A. t.
The fries were terrible.
Burgers are good just not for the price, such a ripoff!!!
Update February 2022: Decided to give this place another try after 4 months and I can truly say, it seems like the guys at 5 guys listened to our comments the fries are 100x better than before, they are crispy and taste fresh. I asked one of the staff memebers and can confirm they have changed suppliers to a farm in South Australia.
Much Better!! 4 stars for the price
C. V.
Definitely offer something different, especially with the fries and shakes.
Whilst some say burgers are on the "high side" it's really no more dearer then any other burger shop.
All fresh ingredients and the option to make the burger how you want.
When you eat there your still "supporting locals" as the staff working there are from the surrounding areas.
B.
$33 for a burger (medium chips and drink) is pretty high and the expectation should be perfect.
Burger was ok, I didn't mind it apart from being soggy (Had eaten in store, not delivered). Chips weren't good, cold, soggy and very short. For the price and expectation "the best burger you will ever have", pretty disappointing.
The pricing at this store really needs to be revised, otherwise I don't see it lasting
N. P.
Had Food Here. It Was Tasty Fresh.
The Atmosphere Was Modern Very American.
The Music Was Loud.
The Portions Were Small For The Price
The Service Was Friendly & Not Rushed.
It Was Spacious Inside.
I Would Eat Here Again.
V. S.
You have to hand it down to the Americans. They know the "ins n outs" when it comes to making burgers and fries. I ordered a cheeseburger with Cajun chips and a milkshake. The chips were perfect - not so thick, crisp and with a good seasoning. The milkshake was thick and the little crumbs of Oreo give it a nice crunchy texture. The cheeseburger was a double patty so a little too thick for me but tasty nonetheless. I know it's a bit pricy for 30$/person/meal but then you save on the flight ticket to the states.
Must give it a try if you like cheeseburgers!
L. G.
I think 3/5 is generous, but on saying that the service was friendly and helpful.
The price just doesn't do it for the quality of the product. Sure the salad is fresh and the chips were quality (well seasoned, crisp, actual good potato taste to them) but the burger was a big let down. The meat had no flavour to it, the buns were uninteresting, and the bacon was dry.
I don't think I'll be back - there's not much to really differentiate it from the myriad of other burger joints in quality, taste, price, or selection. Give it a go if you want but didn't do much for me
B. D.
Novelty factor may wear off quickly, there are definitely better burgers around - especially for the price. But, for now, it was fun to see Five Guys in Australia. Chips were a stand-out, primarily because they are a little different and certainly reminiscent of their USA brethren. Shake was good. Hopefully once dine-in reopens there will be peanuts.

Visited for my first time today after some deep anticipation for the last few weeks. All I can say, is it was worth the drive and every dollar spent. I’m usually very critical when it comes to food but man, for a burger joint, this blew my mind. The burgers, amazing. The hot dogs, amazing, the fries, amazing. The drinks, my God so fizzy. I cannot see this place lacking in any way shape or form. Deliciously cooked beef patties, customisable burgers, THE BEST BACON I HAVE EVER HAD etc. I’d eat here daily if I could. For anyone who complains about the price, they’re just mad at the fact that they had to spend this much. Everyone comes here and compares it to McDonald’s and Hungry Jacks, however, it is in a league of its own. Looking forward to coming back.
D. C. (.
We've been to Five Guys overseas before, but this is the first time in Australia and it didn't disappoint!
The serving size is the same with the regular burger coming with 2 patties. We ordered a burger, a small fries and a peanut butter smoothy, and there was definitely enough food for the 2 of us.
The burger tasted great; juicy and flavourful, and the spice on the fries made my saliva run even when I am typing this. Peanut butter smoothy is a must try in my books!
O.
We ordered:
-Bacon Cheesedog
-Little hamburger
-Small Fries (five guys style)
-1x Drink
Total: approx. $45
Chips: Chips are great - perfect saltiness and slightly sweet, not too crispy - good balance of soft and crunchy with skin on. I rate the chips!!!
Burger: think this is dependent on what toppings you pick with your burger. We got the usual toppings with mayo. Just make sure you get some onions (raw) or peppers to cut through the saucy burger. I personally prefer Hungry Jack's burgers (with the fresh tomatoes, onions, lettuce, etc.) mainly because their mayo is more tangy/herby.
Cheesedog: not bad - I got mine with a lot of veges so I enjoyed my cheese dog with veges. Also, I LOVE American smoked cheese and the Cheesedog delivered. The dog itself is similar to that of a Frankfurt which I enjoy (processed and salty mmm)
Drinks: self explanatory - fizzy and sweet.
Overall, I enjoy the hype of American Dining and Five Guys gives you that experience. Would I come back? Probably not given its quite far but if I'm in the area, then maybe.
Recommended items: chips and Cheesedog :)
R. F.
Burger was easily one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time , I’d rather pay the extra here then be given some sloppy made mess from McDonald’s. the fries are awesome too , well seasoned and rough cut with the skin on beautiful serving too. If your not willing to pay the extra for quality look else where but if you want a good feed and full stomach come here and get the bacon cheese burger. We will be back for more ✌️The milk shake needs a wider straw though as the milk shake and be quite thick
T. H.
Tasty bacon & cheese burger with Cajun Fries. Definitely can taste the difference between fresh ingredients vs places like Maccas. I didn't find the Cajun Fries were over salted or too spicy like others have stated but that's personnel preference. Quick and friendly service, ordered and recieved meal in under 10 mins. Clean tables and facilities.
L. H.
What a burger. Huge!. Chips tasty and milk shake so rich , yummy. Just $$$ . But I'd go back again.
J. D.
I was looking forward to trying Five Guys over here since having it in London and it didn’t disappoint! Burgers were really yummy, they have two beef patties for your standard burger, and one for the “little” so the price matches what you get! We got a regular fries and omg there is so so much food, you could easily share with one else! I don’t understand the reviews about pricing, when they’re exactly the same as other burger places in the area for a single with limited toppings? I think people think it’s the same as McDonald’s because it’s being classed as “fast food”. If I had one negative they could do with some “dips” for the chips and the milkshakes are so thick it’s really hard to drink through a paper straw. Will def be back!
M. F.
Had the bacon cheeseburger - absolutely not worth the money. Fries were apparently double fried but most were soft. The shake was actually really good (oreo with malt vanilla). Burger, fries and drink came to $37 which is a staggering amount to pay.
S. O.
It's great to have such iconic restaurant in our backyard. The crew is every bit professional as one would expect. The waiting time to be both take and receive the order was very reasonable despite the long lines. For some reason the food tasted a bit more tasty in the US from memory. I will be certainly back, I can't wait to sit down within the restaurant and give a five stars review.
B. J.
I've been to Five Guys in a few different countries and as always it was phenomenal. Burger was delicious, fries are heavenly and the milkshakes are brilliant. The staff were absolutely lovely too. Well worth a trip to Penrith.
L. F.
Tried a burger, shake and fries today. The Bacon Cheeseburger was a decent size, pretty filling. The vanilla thick shake was great, much better than a McD's or equivalent. It tasted premium. The fries were really good too, just over salted. I'd def go back again.
Pricing is comparable to most premium burger joints. You can't compare this to your local milk bar or chain store.
Definitely a better start than the other US franchise which arrived a few years earlier.
G. G.
Pricey but good. A real American burger and milkshake! Fries were ordinary and nothing to brag about. Customer service was good, place was clean and plenty of parking. Highly recommend.
N. D.
Really nice, clean, not greasy burgers. While people complain about the cost, they're comparing it to fast food which five guys isn't, they're closer to burger restaurants that actually have similar pricing, but none of the flexibility. Five Guys is sort of like the subway of burgers, buy a base, add whatever you want for free. You also get to watch them making it so you know nothing is frozen.
F. C.
Was alright, standard fast food, chips were really good
C. R.
I lived in London for 6 years and I was so happy to eat again here in Australia! The hot dog is delicious 🤩
W. H.
Went there with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised. Got the little cheeseburger with everything and it was awesome! Would of given it 5 starts but I felt the price was extortionate for what you get.
D. f.
Tried Five Guys for the first time tonight, and I’m not going to lie I was quite skeptical due to the reviews but I thought we’d still give it a shot. I have to say it was one of the best burgers I have ever had, 100% worth its price and the experience was overall amazing, the staff had such a great vibe continuously despite it being busy, everyone was so welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be back sooner than later!
J. D.
Food was ok, great burger with a pile of soggy chips, but the prices are ridiculous two burgers with drinks and chips were over $70, it's cheaper to go to a sit down restaurant like outback steakhouse and have a proper meal with table service.
I tried it because of the hype but I won't be back. 5 Guys have no chance in Australia with their current model. They need combos, recommended burgers (i.e with all the sauces and condiments, not build it yourself been the only option) and they need to look at their pricing, they seem to be suffering from an identity crisis and I'm not quite sure what they are trying to be?
j. d.
Really friendly staff who all look like they seem to have their own job and stick to it, which results in a 5 minute wait when the resturaunt is packed. The food itself is nice, but the pricing is just an utter laugh. For myself and partner, we could have gone to a proper resturaunt for the tiniest bit more.
m. d.
Great burgers, chips and milkshakes. A class above Maccas etc, you can tell the ingredients are fresh. But too expensive for what it is. Save yourself some money and go to Betty’s Burgers instead. If the price was lower this would be a huge hit.
T. F.
I’m a simple man and I have simple taste. The burgers here, though expensive, are delicious and worth the value. The staff were incredibly friendly and had great service. With how clean and efficient everything was, it was quite a pleasant experience that I would be happy to partake in again. This place is not meant to be fast food and I am excited for when I can finally dine in and enjoy the full five guys experience. Thankyou
K. H.
Felt like I was back in the USA. The Cajun fries are delicious and the burgers melt in your mouth. It tastes exactly the same as it does in the USA.
The prices are reasonable and with good sized servings.
Well worth a visit, especially if you’re missing the US.
j.
It's delicious food, but honestly the pricing is higher than it should be - I hope that changes.
The milkshakes are honestly fantastic, but again $9.90 is a lot.
There is a lot of very strong local competition for Five Guys, especially in Penrith/Sydney that is cheaper and similar portions/quality. Five Guys will need to adapt to our market. They can't ride this honeymoon period forever.
J. C.
Good food good venue good staff, but it will be a tad pricey if you want more than just a burger. However portion sizes are generous.
C.
Burgers were good with out being great. A bit on the expensive side for what they are. Fries are good and they throw in heaps extra. Nice touch.
L. P.
Being a fan of all things American, I was keen to try Five Guys being told that it compares with In N Out Burger. I can say, hand on heart, that it is worth a try but does not compare with In N Out.
Firstly, it’s extremely expensive. The average family of 3 will pay close to $100 for 3 burgers, shakes and fries. It’s close to 3 times as expensive as McDonalds. The burgers are nice but now $20 each nice.
I can’t see longevity at these prices.
R. S.
22/9/21. Dunno what I did wrong, but when I arrived home (5 minutes) the chips were OK, the beautiful burger was a big soggy tastless mess. Next time will consume immediately at the Store. Everything else was fine. Service excellent, covid safe, helpful staff. Bit exxy, u get what you pay for. Might try again in 14 months.
M. A.
Definitely come here for the shakes I had strawberry and it's the best shake I've ever had.. I also ordered a cheeseburger $19 you get to choose from 15 different toppings, I also ordered little fries $5.90.. so if your buying for 2 people or just yourself it's kinda affordable lol.. but I loved the staff and they were very quick
H. A.
I purchased the grilled cheese toastie it was quite small and not so tasty but really enjoyed the vanilla milkshake. Very long wait for fast food
r.
Really fantastic service, was nice to be greeted at the door by a friendly face. The cashier Eleanor was wonderful and very helpful. Food took a while as the place was fairly busy but that’s to be expected at the time I went.
Thanks!
A. S.
Ordered the burger and fries and enjoyed them but…..
As it’s a new chain from the US to Australia, it was actually pretty enjoyable as the food was tasty and all. They burgers buns for me were a little moistened by the sauce below tho but everything was yummy.
What could they do to improve?
Lower the prices a bit and that’s all, if it’s affordable for everyone this restaurant has the capability to reach the popularity of McDonals and KFC here…..
R. N.
Had a cheese burger, chips and a milkshake. Good burger but not something you won't find in a good cafe that sells gourmet burger. Mediocre chips. Peanut oil fragrance is a nice touch but they were not crispy. A novelty experience that I don't think I will repeat again. The staff were very nice and helpful.
E. M.
Exactly the same as overseas and service was incredible - all the staff were so nice! Even the five guys in Italy was slightly pricier than their American counterparts but this is the cost of bringing a great franchise overseas that cares about quality and sourcing of ingredients.
J. S.
It's actually okay. Staff are really friendly and service is good. Burgers are a bit overrated. They honestly taste like hungry jacks with a bigger price tag. Chips are good though!
J. T.
I was pretty happy with their cheese burger. The fries were really good. I am definitely coming back for some more 😏
L. X. M.
ITS AMAZING
BACON CHEESEBURGER… yummmmm
BEST FRIES EVER
A. C.
Loved the burger as you can add on a lot of free extras but don't try their milkshakes. For $9.90 the salted caramel milkshake I got wasn't very flavorful and definitely not worth the price!
C. S.
Tasty, tasty burgers and hot dogs! Milkshakes are good too. Cajun chips were a bit spicy and over seasoned, but overall still highly rate the food here!
A. K.
Delicious burgers and fantastic service! Drove 1hour to get two Five Guys and it was definitely worth it! The fresh fries and beef burgers are so tasty!
A. S.
Review from the perspective of a working professional with no kids.
I really like this place.
It is not cheap, but that's fine for me. I'm OK spending $30 on a meal for myself.
The burgers are authentic American style, the meat tastes great and it is not gristly or tough as I've experienced with similar burger places. I love the Cajun fries, they seem to be adjusting the amount of salting, the second time I went had less seasoning. Which I think would have more mass appeal. I think the quality of the fries is what really sets this place apart, the seasoning they use is unique (to me) and tasty.
Addressing price, its comparable to a restaurant in pricing. I think, calling it fast food or marketing it as such would be a mistake. The eating area inside is large and the music is loud, someplace that'd be great to hang out once covid restrictions are over.
My main complaint is I am not a fan of American style bacon, to me it feels over cooked and lacking in flavour. However that is not a big issue as I can just order a burger without one.
That being said this is probably not a place for a budget concious consumer or someone trying to feed a large family at a low price. There is a premium being paid and that is one I am happy to pay for. Additionally there is a difference in style, between this place and your local take-away.
I'd embrace the difference in style. I'm enjoying the cheeseburger with Mayo, ketchup, mustard, relish, onions and pickles. Far different from my burger with salad, egg, bacon, cheese, beetroot and BBQ sauce that I'd get from the local.
J. B.
Just as good as the U.S! Great burgers & shakes! Staff were super friendly as well.
A lot of people complain about the price, but the fact you can add as many extras to your burger at no charge you have to ask yourself where are they going to recoperate the costs? And when you look that the burgers are double beef patties as well it really works out to be on par with most burger resturants in Penrith. This also not really a fast food joint. Its more a fast casual burger resturant, so keep this in mind!
Overall really reccomend checking it out if you haven't already!
S. A.
So I finally did it, the first time for this bloke at Five Guys.
The food was delicious!
Fries were strange at first for fast food, as they seemed almost homemade rather than 'perfect' mass produced fast food products, and although I found them too heavily seasoned with salt, they were still very tasty.
The burger I had was a Little Bacon Cheeseburger, with pickles, ketchup and mustard, so I could make a more fair comparison to the other kinds of burgers that I prefer from Maccas and Hungry Jacks.
I found this burger lacking in no way whatsoever. It had such a fresh appeal to it, the patty was thick, juicy, and the burger wasn't dripping in grease. Everything that Maccas is not these days.
Two problems for me that make this experience deserving of 4 stars:
1) The price. It's just so expensive. Not everybody in Australia makes huge amounts of money, and more than $10 for any burger is something I would consider an extravagance.
2) The noise in the restaurant was ridiculous, and there was nobody there. Yes, I'm talking about the music. It was way too loud, it made ot difficult to order and hear what the staff member was saying, and also for the person calling out the order numbers. I get the idea of creating a 'vibe', but why would that even be necessary? The food speaks for itself.
An interesting experience nonetheless, and one I would be interested to repeat once my bank account and waistband have recovered.

Arrived at 8pm on Tuesday.
Ordered for 2, waited no more than 10 minutes. Service was smooth, food was even better. Great for a cheat day.
I thought the burgers (bacon cheeseburger) were similar to those sold at Mary's in Newtown if you're wondering.
S.
Loved the burger, really enjoyed it. Wouldnt get fries again as it gets $$.
Hated the prices, shame its so expensive thats prob what would stop me going.
A. B.
Pros:
Delicious fresh local ingredients
Made quickly and efficiently
Tasty
Cons:
Expensive
P. S.
Food great.
Service great.
Price very expensive.
2 burgers a large chips 2 shakes came to over 70 dollars.
If the price dropped would be 5 stars.

Fourth visit to five guys. First time with guests. Fed a family of 6 (2 adults, 4kids) for $145. Isolated thats what it would cost on average to take the family out for lunch. When you compare what we ordered to what you would get at Maccas/HJs/KFC for that amount is their only downfall. Food was good. Just overpriced. $11 grilled cheese cheese with bacon is the best item for me on the menu.
W. D.
Heard good reviews on their Milkshakes. Bought the Chocolate and Strawberry flavours. They used fresh strawberries which tasted really good. The downside to it was the price. You're up for $10 for an average size shake. The straw was HORRIBLE! Paper straw on thickish milkshake did NOT go well. It was ripping off after every 3rd sip. H.O.R.R.I.B.L.E. We had to drive out at the nearest hungry jacks for their strong plastic straws. Literally tasted much better with the plastic straw.
Lesson learned! Next time ask for 10 straws or bring your own..FIX your straws for the milkshakes Five Guys!!
S. F.
Not the worst burger I have ever had , but far from being the best. Well over priced and not the best presentation. Worth a try but it won't be a regular.
A. M.
I ordered the Cajun fries and vanilla shake with Oreos which were both amazing - almost worth the $18. The music was very loud and I could barely hear the lovely lady serving me. I witnessed another order being missed probably for the same reason
m. s.
Amazing food. Really fresh and tasty. The only reason I can’t give 5 stars is because it’s crazy expensive. But 5 out of 5 for taste
N. H.
Burgers are awesome! Fries are pretty average, the shakes were god like!
K. w.
The price is the biggest reason I can't go a 5 star review here. But wowee.. the taste and quality Is on point. Will be back and would recommend to a friend!
K. A.
Burger are always great at 5 guys, but the question is, "Is it worth it?". I don't think you should go out of ur way to get it, but if u happen to drive by, do try it. Its definitely not worth the money.
B. F.
The food taste great, but very expensive.
$67.13 for two people.
2x hambugers
2 x regular chips
1x milkshake
1x water
D. A.
The price is a bit high for the size of the burger which is good but just too small for what it is worth did not fill me up.
R. P.
Average. Not worth the money. $65 for two burgers 2 fries and 2 drinks. Honestly wouldn't go back we have much better food in Penrith. Can't see five guys lasting in aus if this is the price and quality.
K. W.
Friendly staff and fast service. But the burger was waaaaay too expensive for what we got. $16 for something I'd pay about$10 for.
P. S.
Food tasted good, can see why people say it’s just like hungry jacks but way too expensive 3 small burgers 1 drink and 1 large fries cost $63
A. M.
2nd visit to Five Guys just as impressed with it as before.
The best burgers and fabulous milk shakes
A. D.
Tasty food, slightly pricey, but all toppings come for free (including free bacon in the milkshake!)
P. S.
Seriously good burgers. Very clean and not greasy as well which is a nice change.
Minus one star for no combo deals because it really does add up with individual items. Lucky for me I don’t generally get chips and shakes otherwise once would probably be enough for me
S. K.
Really good burgers and can't fault the quality or taste. The peanut butter with bacon bits milkshake was out of this world! Fries are handcut and crunchy. A little over salted for my liking but wouldn't put me off.
C.
Food was decent. Fries were the only best part. The prices drops my rating from a 4 to a 3.
G. V.
I have now ate at Five Guys twice. If you are looking for a high quality fast food burger this is your place. If you are looking for for a gimmicky gourmet burger that's pink in the middle you will be disappointed. Yes it is slightly on the expensive side, but not so much for it to be considered unaffordable. 4.5 stars.
s. 2.
Hotdogs are pretty good, burgers are "ok". Milkshakes are quite nice, plus free refills on soft drinks. I am critical on the price for what you get. If you have a taste for American fast food joints give it a go.
J. S.
Absolutely love the cheese bacon burger! Service was good and very friendly.
C. Y.
Prices are high but for good reason. You get all the toppings you want and the food is so good! I especially loved the double bacon cheeseburger and the peanut butter milkshake! Amazing!
S. S.
Price are not fast food like, but the burgers are nearly as good any gourmet burger shop. Dont think it is worth the price and will consider it only as an secondary option to the likes of Beefy Burgers and Burger Head which have been serving better burgers and shakes in the same price bracket in penrith.
K. T.
They're just as good as I remember from when I had them in Paris. We saw family and friends down there on the open night and they even agreed they are the best burgers and fries!! You can't go wrong with fresh food and the price isnt that bad for what you're getting x
R. N.
Disclaimer, I have never tried Five Guys before in any country. This was my first time trying Five Guys from the Penrith location in NSW Australia.
I ordered two Cheeseburgers, one with a lot of toppings and 1 with just Mayo and Grilled onions. 1 Hot Dog with Ketchup and Mustard, 3 different types of milkshakes (Oreo, Peanut butter and Chocolate).
Findings - Burger Patty's are quite chunky they give you two per burger. The patty's have great texture. The burgers seemed to be medium done through and through. Broke off excellent with each bite. The toppings were good and crunchy and the cheese was ok. The one with the many topping was filling.
However, and I am not sure if this was by design or that night they forgot to season the burgers or the chuck they use is not especially salty, but I could not taste the patty. It was bland. It would be interesting to know if this is the case at all five guys. I eat burgers a lot. Like I see a new burger place/truck, I have that burger. No stopping me. So I am not kidding when I say the patties were bland.
I actually have gripes with Australian hotdogs, and it just maybe subjective and acquired taste, but Aussie hot dogs do not have the flavor that American, especially New York Hot Dogs do. I don't know why. Different seasoning I guess. And I have tried to import US wieners to Australia but it is illegal. The only place that had Hot Dogs that I was used to was Nathan's in Parramatta and they closed down for their non Australian pricing standards. So I thought the Five Guys Dogs would actually be authentic American Dogs. Unfortunately no. They did not taste any different from the All Beef dogs you can get in the Costco Freezer.
The Milkshakes for me were the better of the three. The Peanut Butter one was ok, but a tad too salty for me, the Chocolate was not bad either but too sugary, I found the Oreo one to be a good balance and the best one.
Customer service was very good. Friendly staff dealing with non stop line. It took me 1 hour and 10 minutes to get my food out of there. Dealing with such a big crowd I thought the staff were very patient and proactive in helping.
And now let's address the elephant in the room. The pricing. I am gonna give you some context so stay with me.
It is important to note Five Guys is also very expensive in the US. This is because Five Guys is apparently marketed as a premium burger joint. Now I grew up in NYC, long before Five Guys came to New York. I am obviously well versed with your typical fast food chains - Mickey Ds, Burger King, Wendy's, Roy Rogers, White Castle etc etc. When compared to your mainstream US Junk Food chains, I can see where Five Guys would stick out from the rest.
Now the issue is does that cut it in Sydney Australia? No joke but Australia is hands down one of the best countries for "Premium Burgers". Penrith alone has two of my regular burger spots. Burgerhead and Beefys. If you haven't tried them, I would suggest you do. Now with competitors like Mary's, Bl Burgers, Five Point Burgers, Betty's Burgers, Burger point and a big chain like Grill'd, we Aussies are not strangers to fresh gourmet burgers with excellent toppings and great beef. I am not even mentioning the fantastic burgers we get from the trucks like Mr Gees, Holly Heffa etc etc. And I could name the fantastic joints in Melbourne.
The point is if Five Guys is known for being premium cause they add fresh salad and toppings into their burgers, mate Aus has been leading the charge for ages now with prices averages out at $10-$13 for a burger that will make the buttons on your pants pop.
I can guess why Five Guys would be so costly here. There is franchising costs, also they may need to source certain things as per franchising requirements which may not be local making it costly. And there is also the Five Guys premium as well. I have no beef against Five Guys (lol!)
But here's the truth. I am not going back there any time soon. Penrith alone has burger places that make better tasting burgers for me. Price comes second. Good Luck Five Guys!
E. T.
Wide variety of toppings and everything tasted so fresh!
M. D.
Spent my whole like in the USA and Five Guys is THE BEST!!! So happy to see a proper American burger joint in Australia. Five Guys needs to open another one in SW Sydney -- maybe Gregory Hills?? 🙏🏻
B. A.
Yes, its not cheap but its not meant to be!!!!
These are just some great burgers worth travelling the world for. Now Sydney siders just head to Penrith to grab this piece of heaven.
J. C.
Best thickshakes I've ever had. Although the food doesn't look that fresh.. but edible yet overpriced
R. S.
Ample portion sizes justifying the price, all ingredients appear fresh and the burger is really tasty. Fries are to die for, not crispy coated like everyone else but made of fresh potatoes
J. s.
Ordered 2 Bacon and Cheeseburgers with Chips
And 2 Drinks. Both burgers, Bacon was left off.
Burger was average, chips were made from fresh cut potatoes and good. I was second in line, no excuse for leaving of Bacon.
P. G.
It's not bad, I've had better burgers, but it's not that good that you can justify the high price. Please lower the prices or you may risk losing business. Staff are friendly
Д. К.
Expensive but very worth it. I ordered fries, burgers and milkshakes and all were definitely worth the 38 dollars I spent on them.
S.
Very muted and uninspired flavours. For the price was expecting more of a signature taste but unfortunately there's nothing unique or noteworthy about the menu. The MacDonalds across the lot offers better value and taste.
D. K.
Decent food, nice burgers, staff were great. 3 stars only as I feel food is overpriced.
C. C.
Great burger and chips , a little overpriced but you pay for the quality of their food , overall Good experience
P.
Food is amazing, totally worth the price, you get what you pay for, if you don't like the expense, stick to the cheap processed burgers from fast food stores. Milkshakes are on another level, so good!.
J.
Love this place... good quality burgers that taste great 👍
Friendly staff
R. A.
The place is placed well the chips are nice and salted and generously portioned the way it’s supposed to be and the burger is nice and has flavour and not overpowering with grease.
The downside is it’s more pricy than grilld
The music is too loud to the point where people can’t hear the numbers being called even though the song list is like listening to WSFM
L. O.
Food was really great, service was good. Very expensive though, $60 for 2 burgers, fries and 2 drinks.
J. F.
Just ate here my girlfriend and I really enjoyed the burgers. Only down side is $21 for just a burger is kinda steep but other than that I will be back
P. R.
Generous serving of chips and the burger tasted great but the price is just a tad high compared to other places I've been
J. C.
You pay for great quality.
The burgers are here are better then the ones in Five Guys restaurants in the U.S.
N. T.
AMAZING!!! burgers are delicious and real, not stingy on the toppings and sauce, the chips are the bomb!! Love that there some skin left on them... 10000/10 love love love
Y. A.
A solid 9-10/10 burger.
Fresh with a lot of flavour
Chips arguably the best in the QSR space. Worth the price
D.
Overpriced great food, but the thickshakes were the best part for me. Must try: Vanilla, malt, Oreo pieces thickshake with whipped cream.
E. H.
It was good food but the Cajun fries had way too much seasoning and if I was going to pay $41 For a burger, fries and a shake I'd just go to a better burger place like burger head
J. C.
Big burgers, very American style, like that you can choose what goes into your burger. Real chips too.
S. M.
Bit pricey for whopper-tasting burger for $20
K.
Pretty good food, served quite fast. It's very expensive but worth the dosh. They add their tax at the end like Americans which I HATE just FYI.
A. M.
The flavor of the meal and the milkshake was very nice, however we couldn’t dine in even though the restrictions were already ease.
M. H.
Very versatile burgers, and very filling. I couldn't fit another thing in.

Having never tried Five Guys when I was in the US, I don’t have a baseline besides the local Sydney burger scene. Chose the Double cheese burger, extra cheese, pickles, jalapeños, relish, and their house sauce.
For $19.00, it was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long while, especially in Penrith, where Down n Out used to be located in the same area. The spicy fries were awesome too.
The only issue I had was with the bacon milkshake, unfortunately - but I’ll have to explore the other options when I return.
The wait wasn’t too bad, as you can see all the staff are on their feet doing their jobs, and it’s understandable they would be as busy as they are.
I find that a lot of people having issues with the price - this isn’t McDonalds or aligned with the other usual take out burger places. The burger scene in Sydney isn’t cheap, if you want to pay for quality and flavour.
I would put this up around with stores like Bar Luca in taste. Definitely will be coming back, as I love the fact that your burger is a blank canvas, with the condiments being your paint. You’re only limited by your imagination.
10/10.
N. J.
Fries and burger were delicious. Little on the expensive side but its not an everyday purchase
S. B.
Expensive and you'd have to travel to Penrith. A notch above Carl's Jr in Oz.
A. A. F.
Beat burger joint, costs a bit more than others but well worth it. Quality ingredients.
J. S.
Was a nice meal, but way over priced. Not the best burgers, same as hungry jacks basically.
R. B.
Good shake and chips but burger average and definitely not worth the money for fast food
B. J.
Everyone leaving bad reviews just can’t afford it.
If you go to a good restaurant it costs money.
5 guys. The only thing better is 6
I. H.
Very similar to the US and UK versions in terms of price and quality. Only slight downside is the lack of the Coca Cola Freestyle drink machine.
M. B.
Not expensive despite everything claiming it is, you get a filling meal for around $30 which is on par with similar chains, staff are extremely friendly and only a short wait for food.
J. O.
Expensive but delicious.
Everything hand made fresher cooked made with care best burgers I've had
V.
This was pretty underwhelming to be honest. The fries were soggy and the price for the food is insane. Mediocre at best.
B. S.
Delecious as promised i never tried it before the burger was so good but its expensive and i believe in 20 $ u will get a better burger specially here in sydney, talkin about the fries 10/10 cant complain served hot and crispy and also the drinks comes with free refills overall it was good i will give the whole experiece 8/10
W.
after reading all these 1or 2 star reviews, and looking at prices of the burgers i think its over priced
the average worker in Sydney gets paid around $22 a year he or she would afford this meal
your best to reduce your prices, if all your burgers tasted like hungry jacks
F. R.
Awesome burgers and experience for an affordable price compared to others that shame them.
D. M.
Great burgers, not gourmet but great. Add bacon to your peanut butter shale for the win
N. D.
A very pleasant surprise, simple foods but wow, very good servings, great choices, slightly pricey but well worth it, enjoyed the food immensely, and definitely going back
n.
Really good burgers! Get the bacon cheeseburger. Has really crispy mouthwatering bacon!
M. C.
First Five Guys experience…
Quality: 7/10
Taste:. 7/10
Ease to eat: 6/10
Fries: 8/10
Value for money: 6/10
Overall: 7/10
Comments: would be better experience if it was eat in.
P. M.
Really tasty BUT crazy expensive. 75 bucks family of 3!! Ridiclous proving has to change or won't survive in Oz.
j. s.
This is the real deal of proper burgers
No microwaves No heat lamp racks
No Freezers excellent burgers best fries even with cajun seasoning just like in the USA worth going for
T. S.
Everyone’s complaining about “over priced”. If you want a cheap burger go next door to Maccas. If you want a proper burger go here and just load the toppings on.
R. M.
Fresh not frozen amazing staff and so clean!
S. P.
We loved it when living in London and tastes just as great here. So good!
L. C.
Best milkshakes. Fresh and juicy burger. Chips well-seasoned and yummy.
Quantities bigger than other burger joints.
J. W. R.
I counted at least 8 or 9 guys working here. Misleading! But the extra workers made a good burger. Well done.
B. A.
Reviews Show You How Povo the 27 District Is. Great Burger For a Decent Price. Move Along To McDonald's If Your Broke.
F.
Burgers and chips were decent but way overpriced. Won’t be going back unless they lower prices.
A. d.
Delicious!People keep preparing five guys to Hungry Jacks this is more your dine in burger place not fast food.Definitely be back!
M. S.
Average Burger good. Good for a meal to fill you up.
b. h.
The best burgers and fries ever! Same as USA.
D. E.
Great tasting food, A little bit on the expensive side but I read the menu prior to ordering so wasn't shocked when it came time to pay.
T.
Burgers are great but pricey, staff are helpful and the restaurant is nice and clean.
P. L.
Food is good, milkshakes are excellent but a bit pricy
A. S.
At last a wholesome Burger, with everything as it should be.
Fries not so good. But very satisfying burger.
W. C.
Burgers are pretty good. Value for money, not so much. Try it as a novelty.
J.
Solid selection it's pricy but not the craziest I've seen. Only complaint is the cardboard straws, they collapse after 2 sips of the milkshakes.
