Our party of 23 (including children) took the Fraser Island Tour. Pick up from our accommodation was on time and this is where we met Martin our Tour Guide/Driver extraordinaire.Right from the get go he had all of us completely interested. On the Island our itinerary was clearly outlined and agreed with the group. All points of interest were covered and throughout we were entertained by his knowledgeable commentary. He was completely in tune with our group's requirements and an added bonus was his sense of humour. We recommend him highly.
The buses provided were clean (at the start of the tour anyway before the swimming stops) and comfortable (considering the Island's rough tracks).
We recommend the tour.

Kingfisher Bay resort, a beautiful place to visit for a day and laze around the pool. Or if you're feeling more energetic, there are a lot of trails to explore, or hop on the tour bus to see it all. Great activities for the whole family. Got more time to spare? Why not stay for a couple of days. Go fishing, or canoeing, there's something for everyone.

We are still on our trip, I will update this post once it ends.
This resort is an overall letdown.
My girlfriend and I are beginning a 6 night stay and there were some immediate concerns. Today we are already quite disgruntled with a few things.
The main issue is that a fair chunk of the activities are booked for the entire week. There is apparently only one masseuse for the who hasn't got a single slot available. The sunset cruise is booked out too.
It's disappointing to only have 2 food places to choose from and they're pretty average.
Service is not great apart from bar staff.
If you are looking to stay here - book things before you arrive. It says on the website to do it at reception but I suggest you call. Don't expect the journey to include an amazing culinary aspect or good service.
Before the staff reply - I have not yet spoken to management about this but I will. I did tell the reception that I am disgruntled but they interrupted me mid sentence to go on their phones and discuss something else. No other patrons were being attended to so it seemed unnecessary.
In all I recommend finding another resort even if it costs a bit more. I'm not on here having a whinge because one or two things went wrong it just seems immediately apparent that the resort is an overall let down. Here's hoping I'm proven wrong soon though.

Enjoyable stay, well laid out resort with bush setting and close up wildlife (not dingoes. The resort is ringed by a dog proof fence). Good privacy between rooms. The rooms are a bit dated but comfortable. Reception and restaurant staff are friendly, good service. Great pool.

What can I say about this pristine beautiful location. We were pleasantly greeted by a curious dingo on our way in. Ducks descended from the skies to join our bathe in the pool. On top of that, you can head to the sunset bar for one of the most divine experiences of nature you'll ever see. Thank you Kingfisher, we'll be back!

Second visit to Kingfisher, first one was 18mo ago. Can tell that there has been effort put into updating the accommodation facilities, my room felt very comfortable. All of the Rangers I interacted with were friendly and knowledgeable which was consistent with my last visit too. The majority of the hospitality and front desk staff were also helpful and welcoming. My only request would be for more opportunities to get out and about on the island with the support of guides outside of the beauty spots tour for returning guests that don’t want to do that same tour again. Another tour out to other locations like Champagne Pools would have been amazing. I did the West Coast Cruise, ranger guided night walk, bush tucker talk and taste, and trip to Lake Mackenzie (which I had been to on the beauty spots tour previously but I loved so much I wanted to visit again) - would recommend all of them. I can’t imagine how challenging it has been to keep such a large operation running with the challenges stemming from COVID, but despite these I still had a good visit to the resort.

An absolutely AMAZING weekend celebrating our anniversary and engagement. The food at every place on the resort was DELICIOUS. Highly recommend the sweet potato chips at the sand bar! The staff were all amazing, Pauline at the ticket office helped us so much! Resort staff were so kind & made our stay truly phenomenal. We will be back!

We check out in the morning after a 4 night stay. As a family of 6 (4 kids 5-10yrs old) we had a Villa with two normal rooms and a 3rd room in the loft. It’s a great layout and well spread out. While not luxury it’s ideal for most families. As we ate at the resort every night we did find the options limited. Seabelle Restaurant appears to have been closed for a year with no opening date in sight. There are no renovations currently underway. The Sandbar is really a freezer to fryer type quick snack venue, leaving Sand & Wood as the only real option. It’s safe to say we know the menu well having eaten there 4 nights straight. Food quality is fairly good although it’s a pretty small menu. An example of the limited options was the cake of the day was the same for 4 days, surely it could be rotated as guests only stay a max of 3-4 nights.
Where Accor could also make a simple improvement is to overhaul the wine list. It’s currently an extremely basic collection of C grade wines. Surely a more professionally sourced collection could be copied off another Accor hotel.
Staff were overall helpful and great with the kids. It is obvious the hotel, like most hospitality businesses is suffering from experienced staff shortages but there is not a shortage of effort.
We have really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel to others.

I would give 5 star but since our room on the first floor kind of noisy from other guest on the second floor. Not sure if they ever sleep but we were wake up at 2 am cause the noisy from running foot that you can heard and not to mention the kettle was broken before we use it but that's not big deàl, the front desk staff very quick to response.
H. P.
I had low expectations, but the resort was nicer than I thought. It is starting to get a bit dated. I did love the photos of K’Gari in the rooms by the local photographer.
The resort is ideal for families, so don’t expect any quiet time by the pool.
It would be good if they somehow kept the bottom pool for adults only or something.
Also, it would be good if there was security or something to stop the drunks screaming outside our room on the weekend.
H. S.
Even though it was overcast and a little wet still a magical place to stay, staff at venues all wonderful. Canoe guided tour was beautiful, even with the rain. Hire 4wd and explore for the day, or just take your own
R. O.
Recent renovations on the cabins. Big Pools, Restaurant, Bistro, Tours of the island and activities around the resort. Recommended taking a 4wd to see the Island, Petrol and Diesel at the store, Air, Car wash and vacuum.
A. J.
Drove over from Eurong to have dinner whilst on the island. The food at the restaurant was great and quick service. Location of the restaurant is right near the pier so watching the sunset over the water was a great change.
The drive back across the island in the dark was amazing seeing many different animals and scenery. Well worth it.

Resort is very tired and needs updating. Starting with matching signposting to the map provided for those with a car. The entry to our wing contains the rubbish bins which gives a low 1st impression. Do not pay to upgrade to a "bay view" room. There is NO view - see photo. Only trees and swamp with a glimpse of water in distance. We booked 2 mths in advance and was told the main restaurant would be open after refurbishment by then- it wasn't, and there was no refurbishment going on. Only 1 restaurant , Sand & Wood, open with "reduced menu", no specials and no changes. The food provided was good but the service at dinner really needed a strong manager on the floor. We had to ask every night for our finished plates to be removed. The whole resort needs to be looked at including - parking areas, accurate signage, screens around bins, update tired cheap looking bathrooms - get rid of slippery baths- stop promising BAY VIEWS - it is false advertising, manage dinner service better- really poor service. On a positive the reception staff were great and the brekkie service was always good.
J. F.
I would suggest that you not book the ground level rooms as they are very noisy with people moving around above you . We were woken up every morning at 5am by the unit above us.
I also have travel extensively in Australia and overseas and most hotels give you Free Internet . The FREE Internet was not working anywhere and was NOT FREE if you managed to get any.
The room serviced and breakfast was wonderful . The 1 day tour We did was wonderful ,Mark the driver and guide did a splendid job.
K. G.
As resorts go, its quite nice but, I found the food and beverage to be overpriced for what you get.
Room was comfortable and clean, staff were polite and friendly.
I. M.
Really enjoyed our stay here. Staff were friendly and helpful, enjoyed dinning at the restaurants. We booked through Luxury escapes so had some extras thrown in, the free bottles of wine made the meal bill much cheaper. The 2 bed apartment we stayed in had a kitchen and laundry facilities which also made it more economical. The bathroom was a little aged but not too bad. Overall, for a family, if you bring food and drinks it can be a big money saver. My phones Telstra internet was hopeless.
m. c.
Lovely resort set right in the middle of nature. Staff are friendly and rooms really good. Lots of nice hikes and views around the area. Sunset bar best location for a view. Only issue would be food choice - one fancy restaurant with limited choices and another more like a limited pub bistro. More choices would be good. Even have some BBQ’s or something. There is a small supermarket so use that for food as well. Overall - staff were great and we’ll be back (just will take more of our own food).
M. D.
Lovely eco resort with a couple of pools and spa. Lots of activities available. Great food and cocktails 🍸
C.
The accommodation is quite nice and lots of faculty to go about. Definitely a great place for the family up enjoy and if you are into history and nature, I would recommend joining some of the free guided walks or paid day tour.

My husband and I travelled to Kingfisher Bay resort for the weekend. We live in Hervey Bay and wanted to get away for the night. The design and look of the resort is quite impressive and reminded me of something you might see in Jurassic Park.
The reception staff were friendly. We found mixed service at the bar and restaurant. Not everyone was accommodating. There were a few stand out staff members that genuinely seemed to want their guests to be happy, others seemed to care very little about them.
The food at Sand and Wood (inside the resort) was okay. It wasn't food we would rave about but it was edible and the ideas and flavours were there. Some dishes could have done with a little more to make them stand out.
We had a standard room for the night, which was comfortable enough, although we found no information inside about activities or meal times or suggestions of things to do on Fraser. We also spoke with each other about them possibly adding some more entertainment to the resort itself. It was a rainy, cool weekend so we didn't use the pool or spa but possibly some live acoustic music or something would have helped add something to the atmosphere.

Kingfisher Bay Resort
Fraser Island K’gari tours
An experience to cherish
When you are on this island, you have an overwhelming sense that you are experiencing something special.
We took the K’gari tour package that included the first night at the Kingfisher Bay Resort, a two-day 4WD bus tour across the island, with one night at the Eurong Resort. We added an extra night at Kingfisher Bay Resort after our tour.
That was a good decision because it gave you more time to wind down after the pace of the two-day tour.
The bus tour was excellent and we covered all the major locations across the island over the two days.
You can read all the details on the K’gari website about its iconic locations and things to do and see. As far as we were concerned the package lived up to our expectations and easily exceeded it.
Kingfisher Bay Resort lives up to its reputation as a top-class resort nestled into an environmentally friendly way into its surroundings.
It is striking in its design, and the facilities offer you a chance to either relax or explore. You can laze around the pools in the main resort area, which features a restaurant and bar and lounge rooms.
There are a variety of accommodation offerings, from hotel-style rooms to villas. We found the hotel rooms comfortable and clean. The timber buildings are carefully integrated into their rainforest and coastal vegetation surrounding them.
When we were there, two restaurants were operating. Perhaps, because of COVID issues, there were times when the staff seemed a little undertrained. The restaurant lunch and dinner menus were very limited, but the food was very flavoursome and well presented.
Perhaps when the resort is back in full swing, they will expand the menu and provide more services such as full table service.
Overall, I can highly recommend the Kingfisher Bay Resort and K’gari tour.
Be prepared to be active if you want to move around. You need to invest some time and effort. That’s the type of place it is. If you want to laze around a resort pool and swim in the surf, perhaps the Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast would be better for you.

Every staff member was so friendly, super helpful, it was a pleasure from the moment we got to the River Heads jetty! We loved everything, thank you! 🙏🏝👏👌

The resort is comfortable and the staff are very friendly and helpful. My only disappointment was the fact that there were no dingoes to see. This island is known for dingoes and I know that during mating period they have other things on their minds than being around tourists. I discussed this with staff and they agreed that a lot of tourists were disappointed. I suggested that perhaps a few dingoes could be kept in an enclosure similar to zoos so that people could see these dogs up close. I didnt particularly want to confront these animals in the wild but being able to see them confined, for whatever reason, health, age etc would be good.
Also, before turning up at the barge disembarking place, visit the shopping centre about 1km before the dock so that you can check in and provide your luggage for transportation to the resort.
One final point. I know that all foods etc have to be barged to the resort. However, something like tomato sauce in the general store costing $7.20 is a little over the top. Supplies are transported twice a week and they are only 6km from the mainland. It is not like the middle of nowhere. This applies to the meals provided. Breakfast was good and on this occasion supplied in the cost. My suggestion would be to take any snacks and essentials instead of buying on island.
J. S. J.
Great resort except for location on the island. Not the most central place on the island to see sites. Takes 1.5hrs to get to the beach side one way so takes 3hrs off your day trips each day.
K. F.
Beautiful resort. Clean, well furnished room with lovely bush surroundings. Only negativity, food options were limited and what was available was expensive.

I went for a friend's wedding with family and was not disappointed!
The ladies at reception were super friendly and were available to answer any and all enquiries at any time. They were amazing!
The resort is super spacious with plenty of places to either chill on your own or socialise with friends and family. The restaurant is available for food and drinks at any time of the day.
The Sunset Bar, at the pier entrance, is a must for having a bevvy and watching the sun drift under the horizon. Than visit the Rainforest Bar in the main resort with friends to have an evening cocktail and laugh the night away! The lads at the bar were super friendly and great value!
Overall, it was a great time away for a weekend! Would recommend everyone to go and make a weekend of it! Refreshed and ready for the next season of life!
C. K.
Great location, K'gari is a beautiful island and there are many nice walks on the island. Good for families as well. The one drawback is the resort food ranges between below average to average. Highly recommended that you bring your own food and drink to the island.
P. P.
We stayed for the 3 night and 4 day package. Had a great time in the organised tour with our guide Warren.
The only down was the food at Kingfisher, over priced and not value for money. The meals are boring and very over priced.
G. H.
Have had a nice stay here with my family, last year. Nice staff and Fraser Island is of course amazing. Getting a hold of reservation staff is very difficult, takes weeks! (hence reduce my verdict by 1 star)
S. W.
The customer service on the island - specifically Lexi at the front counter - was amazing! Lexi definitely enhanced our time on the island and at the resort.
M. A.
The meals were really nice, the drinks were cold and the wildlife was entertaining. Not much more you could ask for 😁
J. B.
Very good. Reception staff were amazing on check in. Room was good with a spa bath. Some restaurant staff were extremely rude, especially the one at the barista bar in a morning. Overall would definitely return
L. M.
Some staff were quiet good & some were it's too much trouble. Parking was a pain & we were guests. Hot Breakfasts.....was cold. Rooms were ok apart from people dragging furniture at all has. Dining food was average.
R. H.
It's a nice place with a beautiful restaurant and a fabulous swimming pool. We had been to Makenzie lake,a sweet water lake in Frazer Island which is about approximately 25 minutes drive from kingfisher Bay.
You can hire 4 WD to move around in kingfisherbay or you can just hop on to a bus.Everything is arranged neatly.
Even gas station is available here.
Thanks to the management.
P. H.
Unfortunately a couple of the resort dinng options were closed, although that is to be expected given the border restrictions. Mixed experience with service with our first two orders being lost and only discovered this when we went back to the counter after waiting over 30 mins. Offering a small discount for the inconvenience was not forthcoming either.
N. S.
Love love love Lake Mackenzie. A great day out exploring the island and a beautiful swim in the lake.
M. W.
Pay as you go wifi is all that’s available. Free wifi is a staple for accommodation these days. Shower in the bath is both dangerous and from the 80’s or 90’s. If you can’t fit both then just have a decent shower. The Queen bed was sagging towards the middle but comfortable. Old style TV only. Smart TV connecting to the free wifi is standard for accommodation these days. Beach Bar and staff excellent. Sand Bar bistro needs new furniture but the staff and food was great. Sand and Wood restaurant was excellent. All staff were great but young Lucy was the standout. Food was wonderful. Trip to Lake McKenzie was great. Tour guide Hayden was so great, his knowledge of the Island was amazing. General store was ok but the service from the older lady was sub par. She didn’t want to be there. The new girl was lovely. When there was a line up they didn’t open another register so lack of care and awareness there. Reception staff were great.
Food on the Island was Uber expensive but you expect that with a captured market. I would return.
G. J.
We stayed 3 nights and it was excellent. I could not give 5 stars because of the internet service. Its terrible and that is being kind. For a modern resort it is unacceptable to provide incomplete wifi service to the rooms. If you are considering conferences, note carefully.
Overall this is a beautiful and quiet resort, well placed within Fraser Isand. Rooms are spacious and clean.
j. s.
I stayed 4 days in the resort for my Birthday. The place is nice. Fraser Island is amazing.
Room comfortable and food OK, Nothing special.
K. R.
An amazing resort that really lives up to its name. The service is amazing and same with the rooms.

My bestie and I decided to visit Fraser Island named by the original people as K'gari for a Beautiful Queensland get away. We are staying for 5 days on the island, we have planned hikes, good food and good company! Front the moment we arrived at reception on the main land (you travel to the island via barge cars welcome) the staff have been 5 star! Everywhere we have been we are greeted with a smile and great conversation. Connor who I believe to be a pr person has been stupendous and very accommodating. On day one we stayed in one of the 2 room Spa villas that are soon to be modernised which have a rustic and natural charm. They come with a beautiful nature outlook and nothing beats a wine on the balcony during sunset or sunrise. If had to describe this place in one word I'd say astonishing! The resort is very accommodating with busses running hourly around the resort for those sore from a hike, have difficulty with mobility, little ones or even a few to many bevs at one of the lovley and recently renovated bars and restaurants. With 4 different eateries around the resort there are different styles and foods to cater to all. Today we took one of the Lake Mckenzie tours abd had the pleasure of swimming in the most pristine and visually stunning places I have ever been in my life, whether your attending for a day visit, staying, or camping this is a must see and do! Our tour guide and famous photographer Peter Meyer kept us captivated on the 4wd bus tour with some lovley nibbles at the end and soulfilled stories about the local tribes and island history. Amenities wise the resort has a souvenir shop, a grocery mart, beauty salon (will be attending soon), museum, multiple eateries, multiple pools and spas. Day two of our stay we have moved into the stunningly renovated Cooloola 2 bedroom villa, when I tell you these rooms are spacious, stunning and decadent I mean it, I'd honestly live here if I could and will be coming back every year! With the island a little quiet due to covid there is a huge opportunity awaiting everyone to get in whilst its a little quieter, we have met such beautiful people here so far and the peaceful tranquillity has relaxed and rejuvenated our souls. Whilst it's only day 2 of our 5 day stay there is so many fun things to do, see, eat and explore that will be coming back for years to come. 5 out of 5 stars so far!
P. S.
We just got home from our stay at Kingfisher Bay Resort..
Firstly the positives- fantastic location, beautiful pools and surroundings.. staff were overall nice. We spent a lot of time exploring the island and again fantastic location for first timers.
Now the negatives- we stayed in a 3 bedroom spa villa for a week. We were only provided 3 dishwashing tablets and no other cleaning supplies. If you are heading over make sure you take some as island prices are expensive. You had to pay to rinse the car even as a guest, again not cheap. The bathroom had mould in it, the whole unit could do with a revamp. Meals at Sand and Wood were not overly impressive given the price tag attached. We paid for a late check out and were then locked out of our room, asked for a refund for the late check-out which didn't happen.

Best resort on Fraser Island. Great deal with accommodation and tour. Plenty of extra activities to choose from every day. The service was excellent. Will return to this beautiful Island.
D. H.
Very relaxing except for the march flies. Wear light colours not Navy or dark. Great service and food.

Had a great stay will definitely be coming back again. Staff are friendly and helpful . Plenty of activities and well planned tours.

Kingfisher Bay Resort was great, partner and I had a 3 night stay and was well worth it.
Staff were very friendly and helped out whenever we asked.
Food was awesome and had plenty of options. You can either drink by the pool with food, have a fine dining experience or get some take away to take back to your room
The Sunset Bar is a definite go, have a nice cocktail while watching the sun goes down is amazing
The rooms were clean, had a great very of the wetlands and the water pressure was good.
I would highly recommend a getaway with your loved one. Also a great place for families.
A. M.
Absolutely loved our time at Kingfisher Bay. We stayed in the basic room but it was clean and comfortable. The environment around the resort was just beautiful with wildlife everywhere, I saw so many birds including a stunning kingfisher, rays, crabs, and possums.
We ate at the sunset bar, fancy restaurant, and normal dining area and enjoyed everything, from chili crab to pizza the food was great. There is always an expected "island tax" on food and groceries in these kinds of places but it ended up being less than we thought it would be. They also do a good coffee which was another unexpected surprise.
The other highlight for us was the ranger-guided tours. We did the night walk, bush tucker walk, canoe, and the bush tucker talk and taste. All were really interesting and we came away with knowledge to share with our friends (eg. how to see where rays have been feeding and spotting spiders with a torch).
The site is certainly not the most modern hotel in Queensland but I honestly thought the rustic buildings added to the whole experience and made you feel like you were part of the environment. It was just a wonderful time, thank you Kingfisher Bay and staff :).
D. S.
We had lovely accommodation staying in the hotel overlooking the bay through the trees in a king sized bed. Just needed some maintenance work done to the bathroom.
We went on the Sunset Tour which was fabulous-best one ever!
The Beauty Spots Tour was marvelous as well! Very comfortable. Best way to go 4wd without driving yourself to see all the sights.
The Sand and Wood Restaurant was good. Covid has put a damper on breakfast as lines were long.
Cocktails great at Sunset Bar with a yum cheese platter.
Takeaway from Sand Bay was really nice too recommend the fish and chips and burgers!
The Village Shop was so well stocked with everything we bought some cute souvenirs for our 3 grandchildren.
D. C.
Quiet place to stay. Alcohol expensive and hard to get. Nice units, pretty place to stay. Recommend the bus tour around the island.
B. T.
Amazing location, facilities and service. We are two nights into a three night stay for my 40th birthday celebrations and I am more than happy with my holiday. Nothing was too much trouble for the team here, food was incredible and the Beauty Spots tour was amazing. Shout out to our tour guide too coz he was a legend!
Y.
Everything just perfect for we need .
Friendly and helpful for us and if u don’t wanna drive ranger car for advance and just fallow the group.
Very relaxing day and easy
B. M.
Great large houses and smaller places to rent, Lovely to watch the sunset at the jetty with a drink. Only downfall of staying at the resort is the location if your planning on exploring the island and the resort is your base. the Inland tracks are really bumpy and unkept (I don't mind) but take up a very large portion of the day and take their toll on the elderly.
J. B.
Great place, and wonderful staff, just not enough of them to have all the restaurants open which was a shame, However it didn't spoil our anniversary. We will be back.
M. a. B.
Amazing spaces, the engagement between comfort and nature is absolutely splendid. Staff were wonderful, especially food and beverage staff.
The food was lovely, but particularly dinner menu was our favorite! I love meat and their sirloin was cooked to perfection every single time! We tried their pork, seafood, specials, and so on, everything had an A+
Kingfisher caters to EVERYONE, And I mean everyone! Couples, families, friends, children, elderly, etc. They have so many activities and facilities! The sea explorer cruise was gorgeous and enjoyable for the entire family!
While on the island we had a look at the other accommodations and we were certain when returning to Fraser Island, Kingfisher is the best destination!
The only little thing I would change, is that pillows were super bad, basically flat. Ended up getting my travel cushion to sleep as it was a bit uncomfortable.
A. K.
Tracey from the booking area was incredible, offering the best deal and giving good advise on times to catch the ferry and the best time to go on the tours given the days we will be staying. I am so impressed with the genuine care taken to ensure a very special birthday for my Granddaughter will be fantastic. Can't wait to get there
Z. D.
This resort is always a pleasure to visit. Boardwalks showing signs of wear.
We stayed in a king spa hotel suite. Lovely views at all hours. Shower height not great for a tall person. Comfortable bed, very soft. Fridge very small and just cold enough by the second day.
Segway tour was fun. Eco cruise was pretty good - could have been amazing of the weather was better.
Friendly, helpful staff. Food and drinks a bit pricier than the norm, as expected, but good value for the quality and quantity.
D. J.
Lovely place. HIGHLY recommend the Korean chicken burger. BEST burger I've had in years!!!!
T. K.
Great holiday location on Fraser Island. We are welcomed super welcoming staffs. However, some part of the facility definitely aged over time. We got the hotel room with a spa and it let out quite a lot of brown floating substance which was very unpleasant.
M. D. M.
pros:
a great place if you have never been to Fraser Island and not sure what to expect, as you get right off the ferry into the resort (dingo fenced ).
in the resort is a kids playground, basic shops to grab some essentials, eating areas, beautiful pool and spa and of course reception to the eco lodges.
staff very friendly and helpful. tours are easy to book and a must do to see the island if you don't have a 4WD.
the tours are great fun and educational!
we had a 3 year old with us and everything was easy to accommodate (bring your kids car seat for 4WD tours).
one of the food areas had a pool and kids entertainment which was great. and huge Portions of food.
walking distance to everything was great and well lit at night.
the cons:
restaurant food was not exceptional. very basic menu. nothing impressive.
no room service was my worst nightmare (first world problems yes lol but if im in a resort I expect it, otherwise I can hire a cabin and bring my own food, so I really didn't understand that and was disappointed 🤷♀️)
the rooms were very basic. no mini bar, not modern. we booked a spa suite. spa was average but at least big enough for my Toddler and I to play in.
overall for the price I wasn't really impressed (we did visit in the off season so price was about $350 a night which is ok so I would hate to pay the price of busy season! 😱)
but I would definitely recommend for a first time visit to the island as everything was accessible.
next time I will bring a 4WD though and skip the resort.
L. B.
Beautiful resort.
A couple of slight hiccups quickly fixed.
Tiny lack of information re in room credits and departure info.
Excellent cocktails.
Hard working staff.
Would return. Stunning spot. Recommend 3 nights.

Had a great stay at Kingfisher Bay Resort a few years ago at Fraser Island while on a road trip exploring Queensland. The rooms where clean and had a great stay at the resort. There’s a lot to do on the island, explore the ship wreck, one can capture beautiful sunsets from the Fraser Island jetty worth it, Day trip to lake McKenzie and a lot more. Had lots of fun. Thank you.

Loved the stay in Eurong Kingfisher Bay Resort. We stayed for 3 days for the Valentine's Day 2021. I gave the resort 5 stars for the location and the staff. The location is unique and absolutely beautiful. The staff was approachable, helpful and friendly, with the required decorum. The room we stayed in was quite large and comfortable, even though there was no place to place socks and bits in drawers, as there were no drawers, only a large wardrobe. Hopefully next time we go, there will be that, as well as daily service to the rooms. Highly recommended.
C. C.
We loved it,staff's are helpful, beautiful place to stay.
J. H.
The staff are amazing and all went out of their way to make our stay as relaxing as possible.
The Beauty Spot Tour was the best ever our driver guide was Wayne he made our day his knowledge and passion for this island is awesome I would highly recommend Wayne do all tours it just made our holiday extra special.
Thank you all for an amazing sta.

Had an amazing time at the resort the past few days. The staff here have great team culture which is not easy to find. Plethora of activities well coordinated and catered for various age groups. I stayed here 18years ago, and is always spectacular to visit. Thanks team, keep up the good work!
A. K.
Elvie, Ruben and Jody exceeded my expectations. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was nothing less than perfect at the resort. Outstanding! Cannot wait to get back to the Island.
B. P.
I really enjoyed my stay here. Wonderful everything.
I found the front desk to be very helpful, more precisely, Paula, Roberta and Annie the Ranger were super helpful in organising some recreational activities for my family. They gave so many options and bent over backwards to find something suitable. Absolutely lovely. Thank you ladies for your professionalism.
J. W.
An absolutely beautiful place! You could stay here forever and just rejoice in all the beautiful nature! The activities on offer here were awesome, including their eco and educational tours. The restaurant also serves really good food too. All in all, Kingfisher Bay Resort seemed to have all the facilities and services to cater for everyone!
H. F.
Beautiful place!!! Nice service dont miss the beauty spot tour isbthe best tour ever.

Great stay in a pristine environment. Easy to relax and take it in. There are some good walks either side of the jetty one down to McKenzie's Jetty and the other side to the creek. Both walks take in areas outside the dingo fence. We didn't see dingos but saw there footprints on the beach. The room was tidy and clean with an outlook over a small wetland. Accommodation was centrally located to the resort with a short walk to the beach and jetty.
Tourist activities are really well organised and the transfer to and from the mainland was seamless.

We booked through the wedding and events team to come and view the island as our potential wedding venue and from the moment we reached the barge office everything was so easy and the staff were so friendly!
Then when we arrived at the resort our wedding coordinators were at the entrance where they welcomed us and then took us around the island showing us all the beautiful ceremony and reception options, with a complementary cocktail at the end of the sight inspections.
Kingfisher Bay resort is absolutely beautiful and would recommend to everyone! Families and even just a romantic couples getaway.
Needless to say, we are 100% having our wedding here! And we will definitely be returning every year for our anniversary.
Absooutely Beautiful place!

Awsome place, great food, great accommodation. Great service. 👍

Great place to use as your base to explore the island. Bring your boat along as well. The beauty spots tours are awesome with really great information about the history of the Island and it's people. Was disappointed to see so much plastic rubbish washed up on east coast shore. Next time I'll bring extra garbage bags. Beautiful place. I'll be back shortly.

Ruben at Front Desk went above and beyond to assist my husband and I. He was welcoming, knowledgeable, friendly and very professional.
Restaurant staff were friendly and helpful; and chef accommodated dietary requirements (prepared off menu order). Food was delicious and fresh.
Highly recommend.

From the reception on the mainland to the welcome and reception on the island, was great. The staff was really friendly and helpful, be that the welcoming party or the waiting staff. Loved the number of varied activities available. We went to the Sand & Wood restaurant which was wonderful with the heater sitting outside. What we didn't like at all was the thin walls in the rooms, you can hear the conversations of your neighbors. The bathroom was okay, nice natural light through the glass window, but it's not that modern. Went on the whale watching tour which was fantastic. The host was really down to earth and the overall service was wonderful.
L. S. V.
We had a magic time. Room had a amazing view. Staff are amazing. Especially Gold Coast.
K.
3 nights 4 days spent at kingfisher bay resort. Lovely staff, room was great, spent way too much time at the sunset bar. Explored the island and decided the western side where kingfisher is located is better than the eastern side where everything else is located. Definitely would stay at kingfisher again over any other accommodation on Fraser.
T. S.
Very user friendly...can't do enough for you and always improving to make your stay as enjoyable as possible...special favourable mention for the Buffet Breakfast...best ever and consistently generous with both quality and quantity...we have been coming for years and recently twice a year...will come again in November...love it...

Really great resort with amazing food and cocktails. The sunsets at the pier are worth a nights stay alone!

Recently had the our wedding at Kingfisher Bay Resort! It was the most amazing day! Perfect setting and staff that go above and beyond to give you an enjoyable magical experience 💕 Massive thank you to Paulina 🙏 Wish she could coordinate my every day life! Didn’t want to say goodbye!!

We visited the resort whilst we were on that side of the Island. We grabbed a meal and a cold drink or two. The staff were very friendly and the food was good. The resort itself was looking a bit dated. But I would say if you are staying on the island, you should be exploring every day.
D. E.
Totally recommend staying at this well run resort. We had a Wallum room for 3 nights which was well equipped and quiet. The quality of food at all the restaurants is pretty good. The breakfast buffet was your standard kind. The staff were all fantastic, very friendly and knowledgeable.
A. D.
I would like to thank the staff who were absolutely amazing to my friends, my family and myself.
Especially GiGi, Lani, Lyam, Kajia, Curtis and Jarrod.
They were beyond friendly and helpful throughout the whole holiday/wedding.
Thank you guys for helping my friend's wedding and our stay at your resort one to look back on for years to come.
The bride, the groom, the other attendees and myself had an fantastic stay here thanks to the staff involved. Everyone who attended for the wedding was blown away by all the staff who looked after us during our stay at Fraser Island.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, PERFECT BASE FOR 4WD DAY TRIPS AROUND FRASER ISLAND
M. D. L.
Really enjoyed my time here. The resort is lovely nestled in amongst the vegetation. The food is excellent the staff friendly and helpful. Lots to see and do or just laz beside the pool...your choice

We were lucky enough to go on the sea explorer and had the absolute pleasure to have Kaylee and Brett. Highly recommend them both for their knowledge of the island and the surrounding islands. Both very approachable, and made our tour interesting and fun. A huge Thankyou to you Both. We also did the sunset cruise. Again we had Kaylee and Brett. Whilst I highly recommend them both, the only disappointing part of this cruise was it was slow. I love being on a boat that goes fast. Brett absolutely made my dream come true, with the bit of fast fun we had on the way back. Absolutely the best fun I’ve had on a speed boat👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍. Thanks so much Kaylee and Brett you are both legends in my eyes
L. A.
great resort, well run even during covid the space and setting among nature in the resort is beautiful. and so many easy to do things on the island, tours with the guides are a must.
F. P.
We were made to feel welcome right from meeting the staff at the onshore office. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. We took the Beauty Spots Tour which was a great day out. There are lots of activities to keep you as busy as you want with choices of free and paid activities. We will definitely be back.
C. G.
We absolutely loved King Fisher Bay resort. The second we got to Hervey Bay we had no complaints the entire stay.
The ladies at the counter that check you in for the ferry were so friendly and made the experience smooth.
The resort is beautiful and ties into nature so well. The first thing you think is it definitely is Eco, but still in a luxury way.
Huge mention to the Chefs at Wood and Sand by the pool at the main resort. The dishes were so well priced but the food was worth much more. We love share plates so this was designed well. The pool was always clean. The reception staff, especially Elsie were always so friendly and ready to help. The rooms were good, the balcony furniture very basic, they could use an update but the island and resort are so beautiful you really shouldn’t be in your room anyway.
Ranger Chris, and Brooke were awesome. So friendly and informative – also shout out to the ranger with braces (sorry), super friendly and helpful. HIGHLY recommend the day trip – you see everything you need to, plus the canoe tour and sunset cruise also musts. We lashed out and took a plane over the island – ands down one of our favourite experiences to date.
Highly recommend this resort and island to travellers.
J. M.
I don't have enough words to explain our trip. From accomadation to staff, food, activities and the whole island itself is an amazing experience. We loved every bit of our trip and seen some amazing things along the way. Lake Mckenzie is a must, absolutely stunning! We will be back!!!!
C. W.
One of our favorite places to stop when sailing the Great Sandy Straight at Fraser Island. The Sand bar has nice meals, a swimming pool and is well priced. The Pontoon bar is a top spot to enjoy a drink and watch the sunset. Don't know much about the resort as we anchor out the front.
M. M.
Right from arrival the staff were friendly and welcoming. Great food. Cold beer. Pool and area were spotless. Bed was quite comfortable. I know it's a big ask but having allocated parking spots would be great.
A. L.
Nice place to sit after 4wding around. Shamless extortion on price of alcohol

Absolutely stunning stay at the Kingfisher Resort on Fraser Island. I initially thought when I booked it, that is is probably very touristy and also a bit old. For sure, it is an old resort and some of the rooms might need in upgrade in the next time, BUT: it was amazing! So nice architecture, that blends into the nature surroundings, open air „hallways“ to your room like boardwalks in a national park, ponds and creeks everywhere around you, beautiful pool with view into the sourrounding nature landscape and a lot of wildlife. I’d highly recommend doing the nightwalk with the rangers. Tess and Tim were amazing guides. And also in general: all employees were so nice and helpful!
It looks like I was paid for this review as it is so positive, but I was not ;) anyway I have to think about what could be improved... I think the only thing: we were not really satisfied with the options at the buffet dinner in the Sand and Stone restaurant. It is really a pity that the seabelle restaurant was closed „due to the current circumstances“.
G. P.
It's a little dated but let's face it Fraser is great
K. R.
Very relaxing time at kingfisher. A lovely combination of relaxing and activities. Staff always friendly and helpful. 4 pools for the kids, 3 restaurants, multiple bars. We got a good deal including free brekky and ferries. Pete B our driver for the Beauty spots was friendly and informative. Would come back!
A. S.
Lovely eco resort on Fraser. Been coming here since early 90s and seen a lot of change, always a reliable bit of civilization on this beautiful island. Easy access to lower and half of island. Would recommend staying at their other resort on the eastern side for the more northern parts of Island. Always love staying here. Thanks Kingfisher
M. B.
Great enviornmentally responsible resort..Handled Covid regulations perfectly. All the staff particularly wait staff were excellent ,attentive and extremely polite..no long delays on food which was excellent quality. The inclusions in our package were great, day trip around the island and whale watching.we added the sunset cruise as an extra which was also good ..highly recommended

A lovely resort to stay. Beautiful pool and we love the Sunset Bar! The Bush Tucker food tasting experience was awesome.

Beautiful resort! We stayed 3 nights in a villa, it was very homely. Nice walk through the rainforest to the beach or resort. Amazing sunsets from the beach/jetty. The staff were lovely & helpful, dinner at the restaurant was amazing!
J. C.
Wow , where do I start? The friendliest staff I've ever met, the food is amazing, The beauty spots 4x4 bus tour was an amazing experience. Our bus driver Murray was so friendly, full of local knowledge about Fraser island and it's ancestors.
Our rooms so nice, clean and homely. I love it here and would recommend that's a bucket list to do. I will be back and thanks for a memorable holiday.
Regards
Joolz and Tony

Nice place in general. Villas are dated and the one we stayed in had a damp musky smell to begin with. Resort rangers are awesome. Hotel staff not so much. It took 3 days and 4 times asking to get a light bulb installed.
S. G. (.
It was ok. The spa wasn't working and The pool bar was closed. The upgraded room had me wondering how ordinary the regular rooms might be. The food was great some days and below average on others.
The staff were all great, happy and helpful. The location was magical, can't beat that!
b. s.
Fantastic place. We stayed in a self contained 2 bedroom villa which was good value in the off peak season but it does get expensive in the peak periods. Service was friendly but a little slow at times ( most likely due to running less staff due to Covid) we will be back but only in off peak.
A. M.
Kingfisher Bay Resort & Fraser Island just cannot disappoint. The only issue, if you could call it that, during our 3-day stay during the Covid restrictions was that the restaurant was somewhat struggling to accommodate the number of people wanting to have dinner at the "usual" time. As a result, we ended up only being able to secure a spot quite late for one of the nights and instead opted for a take-away pizza from around the corner - which was a good option!
Happy to come back for another visit some time in the future!
D. R.
Beautiful destination, very friendly staff and always helpful. Special thanks to Tracy from bookings for helping me get the best package suited for our stay. Once again thankyou for the fantastic service and experience
L. W. (.
Bed was comfy. Didn't like our view of the street. Photos on website doesnt show the balcony facing the street so would have been better to get an option. Spa bath was good after it was cleaned properly, but maybe had some brown stuff due to not being used for a while. Good size rooms. Beautiful sunset at Sunset Bar. Didn't try the pool as there were too many kids, but looked good. Some stuff were lovely but some could be friendlier. Rangers were awesome!
j. g.
Great place , however the food is terrifible at the restaurants ( never cooked well) and has been for while. The bar grill has better quality but is all pub food. Great for 1 or 2 nights, bring your own food if your staying longer
R. M.
We headed to reception for some advice for the 4 of us on tours of Fraser Island and we met the delightful Elvie ! She assured us the weather would be perfect, the tours we booked would be brilliant and the our restaurant booking should would best be done ASAP as the resort was busy with weddings
The beauty Spot Tour was amazing!
The scenic flight down 75 Mile Beach a must!
Murray was our guide and he knew such an incredible amount and was brilliant So if you’re looking for an adventure on your doorstep (if your from NSW or QLD) Go to Fraser Island
A natural beauty with so much to offer We absolutely loved it
R. N.
Ok but not great. Took advantage of special offer for 3 day visit. Failed to tell you that some venues closed for renovations and Covid restrictions have been applied to some food venues especially if your visiting mid week. Prices for food and drink can be a little on the high side but then you are a captive audience on an island. Otherwise ok for a relaxing experience. Beautiful part of the world.
M. B.
Awesome place to chill around the pool, great pool side service.....loved our stay. They really need to work out a menu for take away breakfast , lunch and dinner... Buffet doesn't always suit everyone all the time....staff are so helpful and friendly tho. 👍🏼
D. J.
We spent 2 weeks camped on the Eastern side of the island but visited this establishment twice for lunch, both times our meals were delicious and the service very friendly and helpful.
Reasonable priced food with great service.
Highly reccomend stopping in for lunch.
T. S.
The tours were excellent, th overall experience was a little tarnished by lack of communication. Rescued a little by staff

We had a very brief stay, to plan my Mum's wedding, and we had nothing short of an amazing experience with you guys!
The food at the Sand and Wood was so freaking amazing!
Every team member we spoke to was so lovely and helpful, a super special thank you to Jo the coordinator, it was so great to meet you, there was not a question you couldn't answer and you made my Mum feel so great and at ease with all this wedding madness! Can't wait to be back next year!
A. “. M.
Had a great time here, amazing staff. Wish we could have spent more than 3 nights. Only downside was bed a little uncomfortable and the walls were a little thin so could hear neighbors moving around their room. But wasn't enough to annoy us that much.
Will definitely come back again, probably with kids next time.
A. M.
Absolutely beautiful. Our King Resort Room was pristine, the service was friendly and efficient and the facilities impeccable. We loved it and have already booked to return with the whole family.

3 day long weekend in April. Staff and service fantastic. Food amazing. Location fabulous. Sunset bar is the place to see days end.

Kingfisher Bay Resort was a dream! My fiancé and I spent 4 nights here and loved every second. Our room was spacious, and I love how the resort was nestled in amongst nature. There's so much to do on the island as well! We went on the Beauty Spots tour and visited Eli Creek, drove on the beach highway, walked through the rainforest and even got to have a swim at Lake McKenzie. I loved how the resort had a few different restaurants too. We spent every afternoon at the sunset bar on the pier. There's also a really big pool! If you go at the right time of year, you can book yourself onto a whale watching boat tour. Will definitely return.
T. N. (.
Had a fantastic 4 days stay at Kingfisher Bay Resort. We parked our car, checked in and dropped off our luggage at the mainland reception. A short bus ride to the jetty and a 50 mins barge journey to the island. Once we arrived on the island, we were taken to the main building.
All staffs including the rangers were friendly and welcoming. Our luggage was in the room already when opened the door. The room is massive, has a balcony overlooking some bush land. The decor is a bit dated, especially showing its age in the bathroom, but overall clean and tidy and comfortable.
There are plenty of paid and free activities you can book via the resort. Our favourite ones is the bush tucker talk and taste. Informative and entertaining about bush foods. Very good value for money. Another must join activity is the Beaty spots 4WD tour. It’s a full day trip, take you to the most famous spots on Fraser. There is also a daily free ranger guided walking tour.
In my opinion, if you’re new to Fraser Island, staying at the resort is a very good introductory trip to the island before taking on your own 4WD trip. We have had a great time and can’t wait to come back.
e. j. p.
One of the best holidays we’ve had!!! The room was fantastic! Every staff member was incredible! Even the lady who worked at the 4WD hire place came to our rescue when we needed a hand! This is our last night here and we’re sad to leave. Next time we’ll definitely book for a week. Three nights just isn’t enough time to do everything.
The food was awesome and if you have any dietary needs just let the staff know as they’re more than happy to accommodate you. We can not fault our stay one bit!
We highly recommend Kingfisher Resort!!
Thank you 😘

Definitely will go again. The resort is amazing, food is fantastic and pricing is very acceptable. I highly recommend a trip to Fraser Island.
J. S.
Very conveniently placed with all necessary amenities. Helpful and friendly staff who are readily available to provide help and tips on getting around Fraser Island.
G. W.
Accommodation was great. No great views however in our unit. Food options aren't the best for lunch and dinner. Next time I would consider self catering. Breakfast was pretty good.
P. S.
Great resort. Walk to Lake Mckenzie was spectacular.
S. P.
Friendly and informative staff, great facilities, enjoyable breakfast. Heaps of stuff to do for all fitness levels and budgets. But only giving 3 stars as upon arrival there was a musty smell. When mentioning this to reception they sent someone in to spray some glen 20. After half an hour the smell was back, so we mentioned this again (day after) to staff and they would send someone to inspect, this didn’t happen. The evening after when mentioning this again, they said they would send someone again to spray some more glen 20. They clearly didn’t take our enquiry seriously and didn’t even bother to check the room upon complaining. Not happy coming “home” to a smelly place for 4 days in a row.
R. P.
My wife and I had dreamed of visiting Fraser Island for decades and a special accommodation offer gave us the chance to do it. Truly a unique and facsinating island.
T. G.
Great resort for location and facilities. Choice of restaurants is great, pool is great. Food, service and location is great. Lacked a lot of kids activities and they had Eco ranger tours only on Friday and Saturday. We were not advised about this when we booked, and when we arrived they were fully booked. Didn't detract from the overall experience, but would have been good to know.
**edit** further into the trip we had an accident where one child broke his foot. Staff were amazing and went beyond what was required. We were very impressed.
P. D.
Loved the place, plenty of activities, whale watching, driving over the island, rooms very good and staff great

I was surprised by how nice this resort was since it's in such a remote location, however it does feel past it's prime. I expect little has changed since the 90s. There are three restaurants on site, and they all charge far more than you would pay for a restaurant if equal quality elsewhere. There is nowhere else you can eat near the resort so they kind of have you over a barrel.
We ate at the Sand and Wood twice. A pretty mediocre Continental breakfast costs $27. For dinner entrees where from $16-29 and mains about $30+
The nicer restaurant on site I can't recall the name but we ate there as well and prices are slightly higher. This one shoots for a fine dining experience but missed the mark. We and three other tables had bookings but were not seated until over one hour beyond our booked time, our order was initially not submitted when we gave it and we asked another server to check. They had to retake our order three times in total before we got any food delivered, and when they checked each time the order submitted was incorrect. The food we got was boring and unremarkable. One dish we ordered was the Open Ravioli. This dish was a few pasta sheets laid over a few prawns and scallops smothered in sauce, but the tails were still in the prawns! I found that quite odd.
Overall if it wasn't for having to eat at the restaurants I would give the resort a higher rating. It's also difficult to spend the day driving with your own 4x4 as we did because there are no options to get lunch you can take with you.
G. A.
Always an excellent experience for the family in every aspect of the stay. Staff, facilities and services are very welcoming and friendly. Once a guest, always a guest! We'll always come back!
C. B.
Nice cabins. Resort is easy to get to but depending on tides you may want to be on the east coast to start or end the day. Restaurant had nice food and friendly service.
T. F.
The staff throughout the entire resort, including the cleaning staff, were so kind, helpful and went out of their way to assist people. The food at the resort was beautiful, the pool/s were clean, large and there was more than one, the groceries store/shopping village and petrol had every thing you needed.
The rooms were nice and spacious.
The resort offered plenty of activities and things for kids and adults to do.
Also shout out to the Maheno restaurant specifically, we ate and drank there a fair bit and the staff were nothing short of exceptional 👌
Would stay again
I. P.
It's quite good. Has everything you need. Sound isolation in our room wasn't the best though.... we could even hear people snoring upstairs at night
K. C.
Nothing amazing nor terrible. It seemed like there were a lot of new staff who made some mistakes that were quickly fixed. The sand bar food was good and had a good atmosphere. Great for one night after a week of camping but I wouldnt stay longer or go exclusively to Fraser Island for this resort.
W. S.
We visited Kingfisher through a Web deal. Facilities could do with a modernisation. Pool area very nice and relaxing. Buffet breakfast ( part of the deal) was very basic. Staples presented but never hot and quite overcooked. Resort staff friendly but not engaging. Reception staff didn't go out of their way to be helpful. Only processed your check-in and checkout. Not really selling the other activities on offer. Didn't ask how our stay was. Easily accessible without the need of a 4WD. Great sunsets. Up close to the wildlife as well.
S. B.
Definitely worth the visit to Frazer Island - the whole area is beautiful. We had a meal here and loved it. Clean and welcoming.
S. C.
Excellent place for a holiday. Sunset cruise was brilliant and the staff were really friendly. Elvie and Conor on reception were wonderful.
B. C.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Based on its location pricing of meals and drinks reasonable. Lots to do and see here...recommended.😊👍
E. C.
Absolutely thrilled to be back at KFB resort for its June reopening. Staff genuinely are happy to be there and keen to see the reopening go well for guests. Thanks Ranger Jess and Kurt, just to name a couple of super helpful staff. Some tidying up, repainting evident in the break but good to see not much has changed. Ignore any reviews on other platforms that say the resort is ‘tired’ or disappointing! It is a resort on a remote location, carefully designed and ahead of its time when built 30 years ago & simply enjoy what it is in a unique location.
P. C.
Friendliest staff, stayed for 2 nights, the weather wasn't with us unfortunately but the staff excellent and friendly attitude made the trip. Resort offers something for all types of getaways from hotel rooms to family holiday houses.
Did a site inspection for all type of rooms as we are looking to get married here and they offer many options and flexible
Highly recommend.

Awesome resort on Fraser Island. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The dining is great! There is so much to do from the resort that you'll need several days to experience it all. A highlight was the Sunset Bar which offers drinks and food platters to enjoy as you watch the sun set over the ocean. I hoghly recommend a visit. The staff are extremely professional and attentive to your needs while on the island. It is the perfect place to celebrate an anniversary or relax for a holiday.
R. E.
Great enviroment, good service, a little slow at times but the attention to detail and friendly nature easily made up for it.
The bar selection, happy hour deals and incredible range of choice and selection for meals make for an excellent dining experience
As for the rooms their decor and structure make for a relaxing and care free living style, perfectly ideal for a relaxing vacation.

We booked a Moet & Chandon 5 course dinner package that included overnight accommodation, buffet breakfast next morning and walk-on ferry fare. For not much extra we also upgraded to a water view room. The experience was above expectation. The check-in experience at the mainland office for the ferry and secure car park was easy and friendly, as it was at resort reception. All staff are friendly and helpful, with some being multi-skilled, eg people managing luggage or wearing Ranger uniforms readily jumping behind the service desk to assist dedicated staff and help waiting customers as best they could. We arrived early at the resort and used the facilities all day. The pools are large and relaxing in a resort setting and includes a warm spa. Apart from toilets, there are no change facilities if you haven't been able to check into your room. Our room #269 was spacious and clean with a very comfortable bed and pillows. The resort had discovered we were celebrating a significant wedding anniversary and to our surprise, a nice cold bottle of bubbly was in our fridge. Thanks KBR for such a lovely gesture! The dinner itself was wonderful, with intimate tables for two predominantly set up, and larger tables for groups. Each meal course was very very good quality and the champagne and other drinks were well matched. There was certainly enough included beverage to accompany the dinner. The wait staff were very engaging and so friendly. The head chef was very professional, using a microphone to eloquently introduce himself, speak about the champagne dinner concept and to explain each course. What an enjoyable evening. A good nights sleep followed by a quality buffet breakfast and easy check-out topped off a great weekend, and that was without taking up any of the many available activities.
While this resort does not match the tropical luxury of those in places like the Maldives, Tahiti, Barbados etc, it punches above its weight in terms of value, comfort, diversity of experiences on this iconic island and staff friendliness and attitude. These package deals are great. We'll keep coming back and will stay longer in future. Thanks KBR.

Just love this resort. You can sit back and relax or you can go explore.

Long Review..
Never have I ever been anywhere that is so easy, organised perfectly and has outstanding customer service. I actually cannot fault one thing about this place. I am blown away.
I easily booked in over the phone and it was a simple and quick phone call and process.
We drove to River Heads and the mainland office was a little busy for check in but not too much of a wait. Helps that the staff are so professional and organised. The shuttle bus driver (Geoff, I think) saw it was busy and jumped behind the counter to lend a hand. Rare these days. We parked in the secure car park and then jump on the bus with Geoff. He drives us to the ferry and he is talkative, friendly and genuinely seems to enjoy his job. It’s very refreshing and a great energy for our initial impressions.
The ferry staff are welcoming and friendly and we make it over to Fraser in about 45 mins and it was a great scenic boat ride.
A shuttle bus/train take us up to the resort from the ferry and we have a lovely lady giving us the run down on the way. She shows us into a room in the lobby where we go over some house keeping and she hands us our keys and explains where our room is. How easy was that for check in?! We get to our room and our luggage has already been delivered!
We didn’t do anything outside of the resort. Our weekend was spent at the pool and in the resorts restaurants and bars. Every single staff member inside the resort was seriously wonderful and friendly. Why would we want to leave?!
We had a buffet breakfast included in our stay, both mornings, and we just arrived at the counter and they had our room number and we could begin eating. Again, easy and organised. Dinner was amazing. We ordered the $150 seafood platter and was allowed to take left overs back to our room and the wait staff were just so welcoming and friendly. One lady in particular helped us choose our meals the next night and she was spot on with her advice. We were very satisfied.
Our room was equipped with everything we needed and was lovely and clean. No issues. We could even opt to skip house keeping for the day and receive a $10 credit. I was extremely happy with that because even though I’m on holidays, I prefer to clean up after myself.
Nothing was too hard, every request was met with a smile and the whole venue was just very visibly run proficiently and perfectly. Credit to the owners and managers. Wonderful job.
Thank you to everyone who showered us in VIP treatment for the weekend. We are just a married couple who came for my birthday and to get away from our chaotic life for 2 days and I can’t fault it at all. Very very satisfied. Best customer service experience I have had in 30 years.

I would say this is probably the only place you want to stay on the island.
The resort is stunning. The location is on the sunset side of the island, and we say some incredible sunsets! Our whole experience on Fraser Island was magical and we have fond memories. The staff at the resort were extremely helpful and the hotel has pretty much everything you need. The accommodation is spacious and each unit is multi levelled in the trees.
C. P.
Absolutely incredible eco resort on the beautiful Fraser Island. As you approach by ferry, you can barely see the resort hidden behind the tree but then it gradually emerges. We stayed in one of the bay view king rooms and we had a spectacular view, overlooking the bay and sunset. I would imagine you could spot whales from our room.
The bed was super comfy and the balcony spacious, with two sun beds.
The staff were lovely and very accommodating.
We booked onto both the Beauty Spots tour and the Lakes of Fraser tour and were so impressed with both. Two full day tours, getting to see different parts of the island. Would thoroughly recommend both of them.
Would definitely come again and am so glad my friend recommended it to me.
M.
I had a good time on the island. Better than lizard island. I saw so many more lizards here then there. Good Job!!! staff :)

Lovely place to stay and get away from it all. Amazingly cheap great food and some brilliant activities. Would highly recommend.

Have just had 3 amazing days - perfect for a getaway. Staff fantastic and no complaints about anything. Not many places that you can say that about. No rubbish. Wonderful tours .Our tour guide Emily was a pocket dynamo with lots of knowledge and she sure knows how to handle a 4WD bus. Thanks Kingfisher

Love the experience, in particular the environmental management system that the hotel is operated. The school group had a fantastic experience including the delicious Mexican Menu and a rich breakfast with heaps of options. Friendly and very flexible staff. Value for the money!

The resort is slightly out dated and could use a freshen up overall. Pool and some facilities are damaged and in need of repair.
Staff at reception were not forthcoming with any information. If you didn't ask the right questions you may have missed out. Other travellers were more informative, with events around the island.
Don't order cocktails through the barstaff, it turned into kaos, and the employee had a meltdown!! Couldn't handle the pressure!
Local tour guide Wayne was fabulous for our day trip. Very informative and entertaining for the day. We did the Island flight and found it worth it all be it a short view.
We will be back to explore the island in the future. Cheers

Hotel rooms were comfortable enough though they lack some common essentials such as a toaster, microwave or even bowls for breakfast. Facilities at the resort are clean and well looked after. Some bbqs would not go astray especially with so many rooms without cooking facilities.
All staff we interacted with were lovely and made us feel welcome.
b.
Crystal-clear water on a perfect summer's day. No need to go overseas for that!
P. M.
Great resort, fabulous food and the great staff were very friendly and courteous. Extremely relaxing location where you can do nothing or indulge in a variety of outdoor activities. The only downside was our room was a bit tired, but clean with a very comfortable bed.
D. M.
Truly stunning location that our family will definitely be returning to. The lobby is very large and makes a great first impression on arrival. The room we stayed in was adequate, comfortable and clean but clearly due for an update. There were no plug sockets beside the beds to charge phones and lighting was very dim. The room had a balcony to enjoy watching the local wildlife and listening to the amazing sounds of the birds. The Seabelle restaurant is well worth visiting with beautiful food and wine. The other restaurants were quite expensive for advrage food. As a family it may be worth booking a cabin with a kitchen and doing your own cooking if looking to keep the cost down. We spent plenty of time in the immaculate swimming pools relaxing after our days adventuring all around the island.
K. S.
The resort itself was fantastic however, on arriving to the main land office to check in they requested a deposit to be paid up front of $200. We were told it was to cover damage costs on the room & that all guests had to pay it before arriving at the island & it would be returned upon check out. On checking out the receptionist couldn't advise us on the return & after leaving the resort over a month ago it has taken back & forth emails & long waiting times to receive responses to get to the bottom of it. We enjoyed staying at the resort but the customer service is poor.
J. K.
This place was just ok. Not that you have many options on Fraser island, but our room had a lot of issues that were never addressed. Fridge didn't work. Adjoining room door was stuck and not locked. Soap dispensers leaked. Decent enough room. Not many options for food. Water was very hard to come by.
I'd stay again only because its probably the best option on island. Staff was friendly
A. M.
I very good resort hidden amongst the trees. The villa we stayed in was just what we were expecting. Breakfast was very good quality nd you could have as much as you liked from the self service buffet. We also dined one evening in The Sands Bar which was nice and informal and just what we needed after a long day exploring the island.
S. K. (.
Perfect , but we stayed at villa 616, 617 wasn't the cleanness as expeted. The window lock was broken. So couldn't trust the security and we had to take our valuables with us.

Spent 3 nights for our 30th wedding anniversary. We have also stayed on other occassions. I cannot fault anything. We were given a bottle of bubbly and a lovely card wishing us a happy anniversary. Our room was very clean and bed very comfortable. We were close to all amenities. We were given an invoice listing all our transactions. No mistakes very efficient. All the restaurants prepared beautiful food. We particularly enjoyed the shared meals. We also had free buffet breakfast everyday with an array to choose and gluten free options. Free transfers on barge from the mainland to the resort and return. All staff were polite and friendly. I would highly recommend staying for the 3 night deal includes free buffet breakfast. Two free cocktails at the Seabelle restaurant. A free bottle of wine when dining at sand and wood restaurant. $50 voucher to go towards a treatment at the Spa. $50 voucher to add to a tour. See you next time. 5/5

Beautiful resort (some parts of the resort are old but well maintained) very peaceful and scenic, great spot if you're into 4WDing and the great outdoors and nature. Beautiful part of the world.
C. G.
We had a family emergency during our stay. Justin and the staff were absolutely amazing at helping to get back to Brisbane and return. They were extremely compassionate. We had a lovely stay. We will definitely be returning. Thank you team!!!

Stayed at Kingfisher Bay resort for 4 nights and had a ball. Two bed apartment which was great for 4 adults and we toured from there to all the places in our hire Toyota Hilux from Adventure 4x 4 Hire in Coolum
Thanks Leigh for the car and the great week we had
S. L.
An awesome and relaxing resort. Plenty to do and complimentary tours with the rangers. We had a very enjoyable native tree and foods tour this morning with Kaylee (ranger) the staff very friendly and efficient and the transfer and check-in seamless. Beautiful natural settings. Enjoyed a delicious paper bark wrapped barrumundi in the Seabelle restaurant last night. We highly recommend kingfisher Bay resort. Can't wait to come back will stay longer next time.
A.
A great place to stay to access the island. Resort a bit tired and needs an upgrade especially the food and beverage outlets. Expensive and not great quality food. Avoid the pool bar restaurant just off the jetty. Food is poor quality and over priced. Kids ordered child burgers and it was literally one tiny slider and a few chips . Villas are good but depends on which one you book. The resort tries to get owners to standardised furniture and fittings and supplies in each villa however it can be inconsistent. Get a villa close to the main building otherwise it can be a bit of a hike. I'd recommend taking your own sharp knives for cooking and a few basics like fry pan just in case the items in the villa are worse for wear.

I'm currently mobilising with walking sticks slowly. When we arrived at reception the check-in staff moved our room closer to the complex centre. There are ramps everywhere. The Staff are friendly helpful and yet unobtrusive. There seems to be a really relaxed feel or atmosphere about the resort. The cabin accommodation blends in with the environment. The pool complex is lovely. The pools have ramps to walk into the water, which makes it easy for me. It has been a great place to get away and just relax. We saw a lovely big goanna 6 to 8 foot long meandering through the sands around the accommodation huts. At night the birds are a joy to listen to. We will be coming back here again.
T. C.
We visited on a Monday out of season and found reception staff welcoming and helpful.
We were invited to use the pools, dine at the restaurants and join the free ranger talks.
We did use the pools and eat at one of the restaurants but did a self guided walk to a lookout that returned via the beach.
The resort looks great from the little we saw. It is a trek to the island's natural attractions from Kingfisher, whicis why we chose to stay on the other side of the island in more downmarket accommodation closer to the sights and next to 75 mile Beach.
A. P.
Beautiful place. Good family destination. 4x4 hire is very expensive. Day hire is NOT 24 hours. You will only get ~6 hours after mandatory briefing and paperwork.
K. D.
Great spot for a relaxing holiday and base for Fraser Island. Villa was very dated but a good size and comfortable. Resort doesn't have any stair gates etc for toddlers which would have been handy for my very busy one year old but otherwise happy
C. V.
Our stay here was memorable we enjoyed the resort and the accor side was very good. The whole process from the barge to the hotel went very smoothly, it was a great experience. Our room was nice, however the bathroom needed a bit of a facelift. The tiled step into the spa looked like it had been through an earthquake. The staff were on average very good. Enjoyed the restaurants, the food was fantastic.
J. a. K.
Beautiful island and nice resort. Rooms are very tired & very loud. We couldn't sleep past 6 am during our holiday due to all the noise from upstairs & outside our door.
Pools were nice but so crowded that you had to get there first thing in the morning to reserve a chair or you were out of luck. Would be nice if 1 pool could be adults only in order to cut down on all the constant chaos.
Dining a bit limited with 40+ minute wait for takeaway.
All in all it was ok, but far from what we would consider a relaxing holiday and certainly better suited for families over couples.
J. E.
Staff are very friendly and helpful, though sometimes a bit slow at reception. Rooms are nice. Breakfast buffet is standard fare. Food from the poolside place is great. Typical island-resort premium for things, though not extortionate. A local beer is Sydney CBD pub price. We did the bush tucker walk and it was short but interesting. Archery was fun for the kids.
E. K.
The villas are incredibly dated! Definitely need a re do, the showers are probably the worst part. Food is expensive but actually quite good. The hospitality staff are wonderful, but the reception staff seem clueless. The pools are nice and clean. Overall, Id stay here again but in a hotel room, definitely not a villa.
K. L.
Amazing place to stay. Stayed in holiday house which exceeded my expectations. Fabulous family holiday destination.
S.
Well well well. Accor need to step up and invest in systems, processes & overall renovation to support the very helpful staff. So, food is excellent, staff very willing BUT the villa, 537, we stayed as a family of 4 in was tired and dated. Plywood doors, flecked carpet, chocolate tiles, really let it down. Given the captive nature of the resort, this is expensive, lack of quality. As to processes, just be wary of front of house, reception. Again very cheerful and bubbly, but they miss things. Here's one example: booked a night walk, turned up later quite excited to be told a) no booking, so walk was cancelled b) on checking out 3 days later, the night walk was on the bill. Another simple process miss: informed we need to checkout by 10, but bags would be collected and stored for 2pm ferry departure. Went whale watching, awesome, came back & firstly, no bags found in storage room, then told they were in "delivery truck", and so when asked to retrieve, as we wanted to change, front office/reception called the porter to be told that they'd be taken over to the mainland reception on the 10:30 ferry!! 😂😂 Imagine however, you had medicine in those bags. Anyway, this review is NOT to detract from helpful staff BUT to make you aware that this resort has its foibles and to make you aware...eyes wide open! By the way, arrange your trips on the mainland, with the actual operators. A bit more effort, but saves you money & any hassle as this hotel, resort sorts itself out.
N. A.
Kingfisher bay was fantastic, we had such a lovely time, so many things to do, my fav was beauty spot tour, all the staff in all the departments was very helpful and nice, very welcoming, but our last day in Seabelle ruined everything, wasn't expecting that bad and slow service in fine dining restaurant, our food came cold after we waited 45 min, Manager came and said they would remake the food again but second time the food came cold, dint bother to complain again, as we could see our food was sitting in chefs area for 10min and noone cared to bring the food on the table, instead of any offering, Manager Danel was good in blaming others and defending himself when we asked why its so, he just said its so busy we should understand, what a shame and surprising, we get these kinda attitude from the manager, lack of customer service experience.
we will be back, but not to experience like this in fine dining, the restaurant is so nice u need some experience ones.
t. e.
Great place to visit for a few days. Nice beach and forest to explore, just mind out for the dingos, apparently they can be a bit of a pest, dident see any myself but my partner was a bit worried about reports. A great centre to branch out from with 3 restraunts of varying levels / costs. Nice pool.
Take a trip or two out to the rest of the island. Don't expect to see much from the lookout points if you decide to take any of the walks from the resorts, They are a bit overgrown.
C.
What a mixed bag. First off: The staff was always extremely nice and welcoming.
You arrive on the mainland reception, where you are asked to pay 25$ and then 20$ per night for parking, even though room is sufficiently available. We chose street parking (directly in front of the reception).
The room itself was a bit dated, but the view was nice.
The dinner in the buffet restaurant was not good. The buffet, which offers sides to the main, was ok. But the main, a steak, was completely tasteless. It was too expensive for this to happen!
During the breakfast in the main dinner buffet restaurant, I noticed there is only filtered (or is it even instant?) coffee available free of charge. In my coffee there were many solid pieces swimming around (See picture). Both the lack of offers and the quality of what is available are not in line with the claimed 4 stars. The scrambled eggs needed more cooking.
The second dinner at Seabelle was good. The food was good, the staff very attentive. Portions could have been slightly bigger (I had the open ravioli), but still a good experience.
On the second breakfast it was not really possible to find a clean table. The hotel does not have enough staff on the breakfast floor during those times. The staff was working hard, but it was just not enough.
Overall, the resort relies too much on the location and does not provide sufficient value for the money and the 4 star rating.
PS: I could have fully understood if the wifi would be slow because it is an island. But the free WiFi was only slow because there was a pay option available. If you are a 4 star hotel in that price range, WiFi has to be included.
Overall, we would not stay again. The resort needs to drastically improve the buffet restaurant (and maybe refurbish a few of the rooms) in order to make it an actual 4 star resort.
H. C.
Stayed with my family. The top floor was way too hot and needed to turn on the air conditioning for 12hrs to cool the room.
Enjoyed the tour and the activities around the island.

TLDR: stay at the hotel, but DO NOT HIRE A 4wd FROM THE COMPANY THEY RECOMMEND (AUSSIE TRAX).
I stayed here a few years ago and I was satisfied with my trip, but not blown away by anything. We stayed in a villa and it was clean, comfortable, had great AC, and a lot of space. The tours were great - definitely recommend the night ranger walk even though it's an extra $10. Breakfast and dinner at the Maheno restaurant is great, but there are practically no vegetarian lunch options. Seabelle restaurant used to be incredible but the food was very mediocre this time. It just feels as though the love and effort they previously put into their food wasn't there.
Finally, the most important part: the company they recommend hiring a 4wd from, Aussie Trax, is absolutely appauling. The owner's daughter was incredibly rude when we told her that we had lost 2 hours of our day because the battery had failed and we needed to be jump started 3 times. She was very aggressive, tried to deceive us about the map she gave us (showed us an entirely different map) and then only refunded half the time we lost saying “take it or leave it”. Kingfisher reception said they had nothing to do with them but it's the place they recommend guests get their 4wds from. I would recommend hiring a car from mainland, which will save you a few hundred dollars in ferry and rental price, and you’ll get better service than from those people.
T. P.
Love the experience we had here, specially with the beauty spots tour and breathtaking views around the island.
k. b.
Very nice, was my 1st time there
B. S.
Amazing place with worldwide tourists. The Bush walks were entertaining and the beach was nice, Highly Suggest the Breakfast Buffet, it was very tasty. Rooms are okay.
T. C.
Excellent. Spent a great Christmas there last year.
F.
Very nice Eco-resort. Lots of activities.
A. F. W.
A piece of paradise! Amazing food, wonderful service and lovely facilities. Our villa was very dated but the package deal we got made up for it. Kids had a fantastic time in the Eco Ranger activities. Beautiful pools. Love all the historical and environmental information plaques everywhere.
Thank you for having us!
J. S.
We loved the Ranger walks and talks (free), the location was lovely, the kids loved the pool.
We hired a 3 bed villa the intent being to self cater with 3 children. The general store had limited provisions and was extortionately expensive. We should have brought food from the mainland, but were walk on passengers.
We all had a great time.

While we didn’t stay in the resort proper, we did get a chance to look around and eat at the awesome Sandbar restaurant. The resort is stunning. It’s the perfect blend of wildlife adventure and modern, comfortable amenities. I’ve been to other “eco-resort” style facilities and this, by far has the combination down pat.
Being this this far from mainland facilities I was expecting the pricing to be ridiculous for everyday needs, but barring the fuel prices (fill up before you go), everything was reasonably priced between the restaurants and the general store. The Sandbar restaurant/bar was excellent. A huge selection on the menu, prices better than some mainland counterparts.
The ribs, Thai chicken pizza AND salad are bloody fantastic. No, I didn’t eat it all in one sitting.
The staff were great, some a bit green but under excellent supervision. It’s a beautiful bit of decor in a perfect location. I could not have been happier.
S. S.
Resort is beautiful, stayed in villa 625 facilities are beautiful. However, the service is not as great. Maybe don’t bother ordering a cocktail because it won’t come for atleast 30 mins and even then you have to remind staff... Highly recommend staying here just be prepared for island time service
S.
Great glancing location to get to the rest of the island. Good staff very friendly. Good mix of restaurants. Will go again.
Booking and reservation staff are not at all friendly and totally unreliable.
S. S.
The resort is great and staff are very friendly. Great family location with lots of wildlife and a jetty you are almost guaranteed to land a fish from. Really wnjoyed watching the bull nose rays gliding by in the afternoon. Book early for the ferry that you want.
T. J.
We have been to the resort a few times now and have always enjoyed our stay. Friendly people, great facilities for yachties ( free showers etc), relaxed atmosphere and lots to do and see. Some lovely walks and the chance to encounter a dingo or two. The Sand Bar also has delectable pizzas.
A. J.
Lovely sunsets from the sunset bar on the beach.
The resort is nestled in to the natural surroundings.
Nice restaurant, bar, lounge area around pool.
M. T.
Initially was put in a 2br plus a 1br. The 2br had a faulty washing machine so they moved us to a beautiful 2 story 3br. Many thanks to the management for accommodating our group. Had some annoying cranky neighbour claiming to be a ranger living on site, who whined at the slightest noise at 830pm while trying to repair a loose spotlight, but aside from him it was a lovely stay.
E. C.
Visiting again after over 20 years. The restaurant has just been upgraded but the villas seem a little tired but still comfitable with all you need to self cater. Excellent Christmas Lunch in the Sand & Wood.
C. H.
Staff great. Island beautiful. Resort is tired. Room had old musty smell. Tours were great.
F. D. A. R.
Loved that place.. very big to get around
Great pools, great drinks, great food
We had a charity event there and was well executed
Thank you
F. T.
Gorgeous place, rangers and staff are all fabulous and so good at their jobs, and make everyone so comfortable and happy. The quality of the rooms varies a bit, as they are a mix of privately owned and hotel owned, and it's use as a thoroughfare for 4WDs seeing the island is the reason for not getting 5 stars.
C. L.
Very dated but spacious accommodation (we had a 2 bed spa villa); warm friendly staff throughout our stay; heavily overpriced food. Needs a really thorough revamp. Beautiful island though.
A. S.
Myself and my partner were guests overnight at the resort as we are looking for a suitabke wedding location. We were delighted to have been given a free room for the night, and a guided tour of all rooms and locations the next day. All staff were happy and helpful at every stage and our gift was very thoughtful. The rooms were slightly dated, though the view and overall vibe were amazing.
T. H.
Great and generous meals. Squid dish an entree
N. M.
We've stayed in the same villa 6yrs in a row and love it...it's central to everything with everything in walking distance. The whole island is a beautiful place!!
The only negative but isn't a big one is Kingfisher Resort cafe's near the pool and bar inside is in desperate need of maintenance and a make over.
j. d.
Stunning resort all the way around. Beautiful rooms, with a wonderful view of the ocean. Super clean, with great customer service. Would highly recommend staying if here for a night or two if you are headed to Fraser.
P. T.
Great place to getaway and take a break, pools are wonderful and relaxing. Fantastic breakfasts which are included in price....Lunch & dinner prices are a bit over the top as is the drink prices, mainly catering for the overseas travelers who have big credit cards with money to burn.......
L. W.
Beautiful resort, would 100% recommend. The transfers are so well organized and smooth so your stay is excellent from start to finish. We arrived to our gorgeous treehouse apartment to find our bags already safely dropped off which meant we were free and ready to go on the nature night walk which was awesome. We learnt so much about the animals on the island. Our tour guide was great (didn't catch his name) and so knowledgeable.
Word of warning: make sure you have bug reppelent on at all times or else you'll be eaten alive by the mozzys!
S. S.
Awesome place to stay or have a meal on Fraser Island. Food is comparatively on the expensive side but it is worth it.
Had lunch here. 4 Stars due to a staff member asking us to be seated and he will send someone to take our order, but no one did. Ultimately, we had to go to the bar to order. If he had mentioned that earlier, we wouldn't have wasted 30 mins waiting.
M. W.
Amazing place to stay... accomodation is affordable and the setup is great. Your close to the food areas, restaurants, pools, and the shopping village. There are many activities and walks to do, plus you can rent a car to travel throughout the island.
B. C.
First trip to the island and a great spot to base yourself for a few days. No need to worry about camp sites or anything else, just day trip to the fun things and enjoy.
A. R.
Fraser-island is Amazing, it's a perfect getaway 😍 The Resort and staff are always very welcoming and friendly. We just got married over here and we couldn't be more happier with the Service from our wedding coordinator Jo and her lovely staff members.
Thank you for everything 😊

We had an amazing stay at Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island. The whole experience was hassle free and so much fun, we didn't have to haul our own luggage on and off the ferry and it was delivered to our rooms. The rooms were good enough and clean, which is all you need when you want to spend all your time outdoors on such a magnificent island. There was so much to do and a range of wonderful restaurants and bars on the island to choose from, with the added bonus of a cocktail happy hour at each bar every night! All the food we had was great and the service was mostly excellent. We rented a little Suzuki from the resort and hit the sand tracks which was heaps of fun. My partner chose Fraser Island as the place to propose and it was the best day ever! The only thing I have to remark on was that he'd also booked a table with the reception for Seabelle Restaurant to celebrate our engagement. He did so months before, but when we got to the restaurant desk we found that our table hadn't been arranged. They squeezed us in, but we had to wait which was a bit of a shame. My hubby-to-be was a little distraught but it didn't dampen the mood much and we'll be back!
L. S.
Lovely place. Had a great time. But the food restaurant cafes should of been open longer hours. And more of a range. Bit more for children also..
C. K. (.
Accommodation and meals have been faultless and staff have been really good to deal with.
R. H.
This is such a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. 4WDing is adventurous but still quite relaxing at the same time. The staff are friendly and happy which makes the atmosphere fun and relaxing. I highly recommend the massage, it was amazing. I did the short one but wished I got the longer one! We will definately be coming back again.
S. D.
Beautiful resort nestled between the ocean and the rainforest. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, the rooms were neat and quaint. We did the 4WD island Beauty Spot tour and we got to see the various features and beautiful landscapes the island had to offer. Some people on the tour expressed that the ride was super bumpy but a lot of fun (I had a a great time, I think some people may have had different expectations of what a 4WD tour is). We also did the whale watching and it was incredible. We got to see a mother whale and her calf swim right up to the boat. Experience i will never forget. Food was great too, wide variety of cusine across the three restaurants. Was a great place to stay, would definitely take a holiday there again.
P. T.
Fantastic getaway, it's a unique location with loads of natural attractions and activities. Great accommodation options and amazing dining too.
M. A.
I loved the resort!! Friendly staff, clean and nice atmosphere, comfortable rooms , good food , I loved the pizza at sunset bar!! 💯
K. B.
Absolutely great day-out!!
Highly recommend. 🙌👌
The Boat Tour was also fun & satisfying!!
K. N.
Comfortable and cozy rooms (and beds) with beautiful balcony. Very friendly and helpful staff.
However, in contrast to the Resort's eco philosophy it is absolutely not understandable that coffee is mostly served in plastic cups even though it was clear that you are sitting on the deck.
J. M.
We loved our stay here. While we did not utilise the restaurant, the rest of the services were amazing. Staff were always helpful and friendly. The junior eco warriors program for children is also great value for money. We will definitely be returning.
B. C.
Average place to stay. Nice resort but the staff don't take much pride in their workplace. Rubbish was there when we arrived and still there when we left 4 days later. We were over billed numerous times at checkout and in the restaurant. The location however is spectacular and a great base to setup and see Fraser Island.
J. A.
Great hospitality especially by the Indian staffs of Sand Bar. However the 9.30pm barge was like a fish market - employees off duty were obnoxiously loud and lady who cleaned the boat was rude and very eager to chase everyone off the boat when we haven't even completely docked which could have been unsafe if the waves were the slam the boat and knock us off. Horrible way to end the experience.
R. K.
There was an excellent place to rest - really nothing to do without spending money. Some workers are little bit lazy but that's maybe natural in Kingfisher Bay Resort. Beautiful natatural scenic points everywhere. All prices are couple of land. Recommend to visit here in Winter.
J. C.
We recently had our wedding at Kingfisher Bay Resort and it was an amazing day but I was torn between the lack of attention to detail and communication in some respects and the staff that went above and beyond. Our wedding coordinator was lovely and did her best under the circumstances. The food was amazing but the beer was not chilled properly, the wedding cake was not cut until 10pm due to lack of communication from the catering team and when it was presented there were no plates for guests to use for adding cream and coulee to the cake. The staff were very apologetic and very friendly. For some reason the table seating was not correct and we had a table of 11 people on a small round table and a table of 6 on a large rectangular table this was annoying as the coordinators attention to detail prior to the wedding was on point. The courtesy bus driver was wonderful...he escorted my elderly mother to her room...such a lovely gesture that I will cherish. A staff member also climbed a ladder to retrieve my bouquet from the roof when my bouquet toss was a little too hefty. Some very simple mistakes that could have been prevented with more care and attention in some respects and some wonderful staff members who went beyond the call. Thank you for the memories with some improvements with communication it would have been the perfect wedding.

Had a great stay, 2 nights. We arrived on the last ferry at 1845 Friday evening and was taken by shuttle to the resort. Upon check-in I noticed that there really should have been a line separate for those who had already checked in at River Head reception, because we were left waiting for those who hadn't. We stayed in the King Spa room, view was great, outdoor seating and a big spa bath in the bathroom. Air conditioning got cold reallly quickly which was nice coming inside from the heat. Day 2 we had arranged for a 4WD beauty spots tour which visited Lake Mckenzie, central Station, maheno wreck, and Eli Creek. The 4WD was actually a very large bus. The sites we saw were stunning, beautiful and like nothing I had experienced on the mainland before, the driving to get there was almost sickening, bumping through sand for hours would not be recommended for pregnant women or anyone with motion sickness. The guide explained a lot of the history which was nice and near Eli Creek you have the opportunity to take a scenic flight for $80 which I highly suggest doing as the views were phenomenal. Upon returning we had a delicious dinner at Maheno's, seafood platter for 2. The waiter advised there would be a longish wait so allowed us to take anything from the buffet to start which isn't normally included in the deal. By day 3 we headed home and wish we had longer to relax and enjoy the resort.
K. W.
Excellent day. Great staff, food and ambience. The weather was perfect! Will definitely stay a couple days next time up this way. Very relaxing.
H. D.
Summary: expensive resort, expensive food and restaurants, quality of living is average to poor, amenities are poor, staff of the resort vary greatly, some are great while others treat you like you are in a cheap resort. Long stays are not recommended. Come purely for the beauty of the landscape around resort and not for the resort itself, definitely not worth the money.
Came to the resort with family. Arrived to find that the beds were incorrectly assigned to our villa, instead of two queen beds we had a queen and a bunk bed. It was sorted out quite quickly and we were moved to another villa. The new villa was much newer but it was not properly cleaned, had a smell, vacuuming was not done properly and looked like the amenities were from 15 years ago. The bed sheets were stained and not washed properly, all the cups and cutlery were so used that they had stains that couldn’t wash out. In one of the bedrooms there were dozens of ants walking on the walls, had to call reception twice before it was sorted. People in the other bedroom slept and woke up covered in bites, we asked the resort to come out and check for bed bugs. We came back to the villa later and nothing seemed changed. We asked whether anything was done and apparently they came out and sprayed the whole house with insecticide but didn’t leave any note or notification.
The resort had 3 restaurants, two had very similar menus and were priced the same way. The food was average to below average quality. The Seabelle was their signature restaurant which had a minimum cost of $100 per head, going up to $140 with wine, definitely not something you can pay for every night. You have to expect to pay a minimum 30 dollars per person regardless of where you eat. The staff serving you varies greatly, some were fine while others were untrained or rude. In the mornings you have to wait upwards of 20 minutes to get your coffee. You order lunch to find that staff do not take orders at the table which is 10 metres away even though you are paying restaurant prices.
The rest of the resort is outdated, it feels like stepping into a time capsule. It has old lacquered wood everywhere, spiderwebs and very little entertainment. To some this may have an old timey charm, but personally I find myself thinking about how great the resort would have looked thirty years ago when it opened versus how sad and depressing it looks now. The swimming pools and tennis courts are pretty much all the resort has to offer. There is volleyball but the courts are unkempt and full of branches, if you would like to do other activities such play billiard or go to the arcade you have to pay per play, which is absurd as you are already paying to be there.
Ultimately you come to this resort because you have to stay somewhere to see the rest of the island which is spectacularly beautiful. It is extremely unfortunate that the resort is not.

Fantastic place. Well organised and operated. Nice food. Amazing location. Lots of activities and presetation. Don't miss the beauty spots tour. Fraser Island is a real paradise. The eastern beach is sublime. Take the 15min flight from the beach, worth the $80 for amazing bird's eye view.

Amazing service and very kid friendly with a great kids program, giving parents much time to themselves. More of destination for doers- with hikes, camping, 4wd and swimming areas everywhere. Lake McKenzie a absolute stand out. Staff are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

Fraser Island is a stunning and fairly unique place to visit. Just a few miles off the Queensland coast, this sand-banked based Island is a beautiful sub-tropical paradise. Kingfisher resort is the main place to visit and stay at on the Western coast overlooking the strip of water back towards the mainland. Remembering that the island is a protected world heritage site the rooms are distributed on piers that spread from the central hotel which adds to the open-air feel. Most are suspended above the rich forest floor which means you feel close to nature without having any visitors. Indeed one of my favourite things was listening to the rich and loud birdsong early in the morning. Rooms are fine though basic enough. You don't visit for deep pile carpets and plumped up pillows after all. Hotel service was first class and food was good; though again like the rooms you are here to be nourished by the island experience not by 5 course haute cuisine. So lots to do when there including walking tours; Segway tour of neighbouring beach; proper 4 wheel-drive to the other side of the island and the 75 mile beach which doubles as a highway with 80km speed signs. The driving is true off road experience and our highlight. After shaking your way back make sure to get sun-down cocktail at the hotel jetty. Wonderful.

Kingfisher Bay Resort was awesome. We stayed there with our teenage son. Excellent facilities, relaxing atmosphere, well stocked buffet breakfast, multiple bars and restaurants. Food/drink bit pricey but expected on an island with higher logistical costs. The staff are attentive. Beds very comfortable. Tip; if you are staying in hotel room (save money) take an esky for snack options to reduce costs, there is ice at the kiosk. Also, you must do the Beauty Spot tour. Very imformative guide. Do the optional scenic flight - at $80 it was a treat. Segway tour fun for kids. Dont take your car unless 4WD. Whale watching tour also recommended. Small matter, some of the kids games at Sand Bar were not working properly. They really need to be updated with modern equipment. Different menu options at some of the restaurants (maybe on weekends) would improve variety. However, fantastic stay. Thankyou everyone who made our stay memorable.

We booked a villa on the advice that we could have a BBQ on the balcony, so brought BBQ ingredients etc, only to learn that there WAS no BBQ at our villa. Apparently the villas are all privately owned, so it's up to the owner's discretion as to whether or not to provide a BBQ - and you can't be sure which villa you will be allocated until arrival. On top of the initial disappointment, our villa also smelled terribly musty and fishy, so initial impressions were not good. After reporting all of the above to the duty manager, we were relocated to a fresher-smelling villa with a BBQ for our 2nd night, so it all worked out in the end. This service redeemed our impression somewhat and we enjoyed the remainder of our stay.

My family & I have visited Kingfisher many times for years now. This resort is set in amongst the forest overlooking the bay. It is a place to unwind and be very one with nature. The sent of the rainforest in the air, the sounds of the birds in the trees and waves lapping gently on the shore are pure bliss. The rooms are comfortable, warm and very private and are all nestled amongst the forest. We use Kingfisher as a base to explore the island and at night after exploring it is beautiful to return to tasty food and great service. Kingfisher has changed only minimally over the years that I have visited and it seems when you walk into the room and you are greeted by the transparent privacy doors it is though you are at home again. Thankyou Beautiful people for you amazing staff and natural surroundings which compliments this stunning wilderness.
P. K.
Great facilities, fantastic pools, heaps of food and drink choices, kids activities for most days but more during holidays, beach, fuel, general store and more. Just wish the rooms were darker for the early morning summer sunrise.

have had an amazing trip this weekend. booked the beauty spots day tour and had a wonderful time. the tour guide was especially hilarious, Peter, who also runs the art gallery by the convenience shop....just absolutely amazing.
food is a little pricey, but if you're an accor member you get a discount at the maheno restaurant. we got a buffet without the mains -$30 for adults anf $15 for kids although the selection is mostly sides, not any meat options but salads and veggies were yummy, as were the desserts. staff were accomdating and friendly. most eateries in walking distance! highly recommend
M. S.
Excellent resort, nestled in the surrounding natural bushland! Excellent service from staff, glorious and plentiful food to eat to suit backpackers, families and restaurants. Wildlife galore! Day tours are great (try and get Butch as your driver - if there is anything you want K'Garri (Fraser Island), Butch has the answers!

Had a nice stay but have been there before and it isn't as good as it used to be, I think its been taken over by a different chain.
Room was nice enough but bathroom had paint peeling off the ceiling, don't think it had been redecorated since I was last there 5 years ago.
Most annoying thing for me is that the pool now closes at 9pm, the late night swims and hot tubs used to be one of the nicest bits, especially after a few beers, now its gone all nanny state.
Food was pretty good but nothing special given the price
a. d.
We stayed in a villa and it was grubby and the plates had food left on them so had to wash all the dishes before use. When we arrived the door didn't even lock so maintenance had to be called to fix it but still never worked really well. The vacuum cleaner was totally full so had to clean to use and the shower dispensers were empty and the lounge dirty. If you are requiring a nice shower you will be disappointed as the water pressure is terrible and believe me when I say no more more than a dribble really really bad when I mentioned this to the manager he told me that it's because they are on an island and that is the reason for the terrible water pressure in reality it is because everything is just old and dated and desperately needs.an upgrade. As stated before the shop is terribly lacking in choice and incredibly expensive $70 Min for a case of beer $24 min for a bottle of wine at 4l of water $9 so bring loads from the mainland! On a positive note the service was great and of course the island has so much natural beauty which is accessible by 4wd best to bring your own as around $300 per day hire all up. In conclusion when booking I would ask some serious questions about the room you may be getting and think long and hard about your expectations of a holiday here as you maybe disappointed.
L. P.
What a great place to stay and explore. Our adventure made more memorable because of the genuinely friendly and engaging staff all throughout the resort and this is extended to the passing locals who were happy to help in unforseen circumstances that can occur while exploring the island Thankyou for a wonderful experience.
K. R.
We had an incredible experience here....whale watching was better than anywhere we have ever been! Also did the 4wd tour of the island which was superb! Very well run and super efficient getting on and off the Fraser Island ferry
S. M.
Great family holiday location. The Sandbar puts out a fantastic feed(beef cheeks are awesome. Thanks 👍)
Fishing from the jetty provides a variety of fish, so far have seen caught or caught myself Bream, Flathead, Jew, Tuna, Snapper(surprisingly) and too many more to name.
T. M.
Great location. But on bay side of the island. If you have a 4wd the other side of the island is much more spectacular .A bit of a trek across on a narrow track though. As we are gold accor members we had priority checkin and lady could not have been more helpful. Really set tone for the resort.. Rooms are a bit bigger than the average hotel room and nicely presented. Bathroom big and clean. Although shower is over the bath it is easy to step in. Ask for elevated bay view for added touch.A bit of a walk to restaurants and not covered so would be a problem if it rains. Not really suitable for those with a disability. Long walk around the road to avoid stairs.Only minimal ammenities in room and we were only left an open milk carton.Bring your own if you can.Ate at maheno restaurant last night.Buffet with choice of meats Sizzler style.Adequate but service is slow.Had to ask twice for our drinks. Our empty plates just built up uncleared on the table. Probably 3 and half star but could be a 4 star with a few added touches. Best part is scenery.
E. R.
Very nice resort and Island, fantastic place and Nature. We did Beuty Sports Day tour with our Guide/driver Emily. She really made our Day, Five ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ star guide, excellent knowledge, stories, fun and extremly serviceminded. TOP🌞
D. P.
The kingfisher Bay Resort is beautiful, built right into the forest. Our room was surrounded by nature and the whole resort is connected by boardwalks through the trees. There are several dining options, as well as plenty of activities and terrific views everywhere you look.
M. W.
very glamorous.. nice bar on eastern wharf to watch sunset..pity wasnt open for afternoon drinks
A. T.
It can be quiet, or you can be involved in as many activities as you like.
The 4WD bus trip to the beauty points is well worth while, food and accommodation is also excellent
C. K.
This resort was a pleasant surprise to see, it has all that you could ask for with eating and dining options that cater for families and large groups. The standard of food is up there with the best resorts in Australia, it has a unique Aussie feel from the native vegetation every where you look around the resort. Native flora and fauna abound on this wonderful natural sand island which is the biggest in the world, but if you do come to Kingfisher bay resort it has a multitude of must do's from swimming in lake McKenzie to flying over this magnificent island in Airfraser which take off and land on 75 mile beach, this island has many wonderful surprises which I can only recommend to all, come bring the family you will have a great holiday.

As a regular over the years, its so hard to give a review on this place, as soon as you step of the barge, the world is lifted from your shoulders everything just drifts away, as always the setting is beautiful, even when they are booked out it never seems busy at the resort or overcrowded. Since its been purchased by Accor, the food has gone from 2 stars to 4 you can even see some of the new talent around, they are younger more enthusiastic chefs that obviously want to make a mark for themselves, so the food is great best eating in more then 8 years for sure. My Loft Villa 514, was HUGE, could have had 4 couples in here for sure if you were on a budget, Big lounge area big dining area, massive bathrooms great air con etc etc..... But here is where is gets hard to review, .... Everything is old, old carpets STINK and are terribly stained and water damaged near bathrooms and balconies, furniture was stained and old and smelly (sofa's) decor and old and damaged and dirty, not unhygienic dirty just old and stained from 30 years of ware and tear. You just see things and you ask the question ... i know this is an eco resort but i dont think i would accept the level of built up dirt , dirty windows, and bathrooms stinky stained carpets and walls at any other hotel or resort i would complain and ask to be moved. DO NOT TOUCH THE SOAP DISPENSERS they take the casings off the refill them but don't seem to see the black mold that is growing inside of them when they open them, no i'm not mental i brushed against my one and it fell open i wouldn't open it normally, friends checked theirs in the hotels rooms and same thing inside the dispensers black mold everywhere...NASTY. Cleaners need a good kick up the bum they do surface cleaning and not real cleaning... and surely there is a government grant they can apply for to get some assistance updating the resort... it just needs $5000 allocated to each apartment to bring it into 2018 and freshen it up, new carpet, paint and bathroom tiles would just bring it back to life. Staff are always lovely , professional friendly, albeit the Sandbars girls are a bit dumb ( i witnessed one telling a customer sorry all the schooner glasses are dirty you can wait 10 mins or i can poor you a beer in a wine glass, when the man said could you please just wash this schooner glass and handed her his empty one, she looked at the man with confusion and said sure but the dishwasher wont be done for 10 mins ... lol appears young people dont know how to wash a glass the old fashion way) That all being said, Its ok , Im at kingfisher its so lovely i don't even care about these things like i might at another hotel im here to unwind and not worry about this sort thing, I will be back again , maybe you will surprise me next time with a face lift in the rooms, maybe you wont either way we will be back.. Oh and the DINGO bar... ive never had more fun in a place that smells like a public toilet in my life... that i can remember... good times :) seeyou soon
C. R.
Kingfisher is great, staff is friendly and knowlegdable. The eco friendly resort is very good too. I just wish there were some more "normal" food options, apart from the restaurant on the beach the other food was too unusual especially if you are travelling with children
J. D.
Loved staying here, highly recommend. Beautiful meals, buffets, pools and villas. Recommended doing one of the tours to see the island as well for the day and seeing lake McKenzie
D. K.
Absolutely stunning area. The resort is right in the beach, and is completely fenced off from dingoes. They have lots of tours to take around Fraser Island, but there seems to be a lack of things to do on resort property other than the pool, so if you don't want to see fraser island, I hope you like lying on the beach/poolside.

Very nice place! We had a big appartment (5 p) and a nice view. Not super clean, but I think that is not easy in the middle of the forest (balcony, windows). In the evening a lot of stars. Dinner is ok but expensive for us 'foreigners'. Only wifi at the reception. And again.. very cold swiming pool.
B. M.
Unless you're camping kingfisher is I feel the best resort to stay in. Its no 5 star resort but is probably the best available on the island. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa which had enough beds for my family of 5. Given many people bring supplies from the mainland (there is a small shop in the petrol station) it would make sense to have the fridge on for arrivals. As it was it wasn't till the next day that the fridge got cold. Maintenance was nice enough to bring a bar fridge in to tide us over so that helped at least.
Facilities are good and staff are friendly but my one big gripe is the buffet breakfast. It's not the range that I have issue with as I do know it's an island, but whoever the chef is in Jan 12-14 in the morning has no care for what is being put out at all. The sausages are being overcooked to the point where it is difficult for a knife to even cut through and have the texture of a rubber bullet. The scrambled eggs looked like they were made with a blender and were dry with no seasoning. Any chef should be ashamed of what is being put out (maybe they're vegan/vegetarian and won't taste the food?). Again it's not about range it's just about cooking it right when you are charging resort prices. On the positive side the wife was very happy with the barrista made coffee.
Overall its a good place to stay to explore Fraser (we hired a 4wd from Aussietrax). Other food we tried was good, but be wary of paying for buffet breakfast if you like starting your day with something tasty.
M. P.
exquisite beaches and well maintained environment. lots of wild life but all with in a safe distance. many lovely walks through out the resort not great cell reception but wifi is provided.
K. S.
We stayed at The Holiday House. It was really spacious. Had enough room to fit 11 of us (6 adults and 5 kids). 3 rooms downstairs and 1 room upstairs. Massive space. Well equipped kitchen and they even had a 6 burner BBQ.
However, the house is about a 5 mins drive from the resort. You can walk, but probably not suitable if you have kids or old folks.
V. B.
You may like it if you're keen for venomous snakes, wild dogs that eat children and biting insects. There is a nice pool and good food. The rooms are good enough. Ours was dark and gloomy without adequate electric light.
B.
Everything is so good the food is delicious. And fresh There is one thing I I would like to see them upgrades in that's a spa. You can only fit about 4 people in it.
J. G.
Real nice house all to ourselves. There were 8 boys on a bucks weekend, and I'm sure the other guests appreciated the space between our place and theirs.

Fraser Island is a fantastic destination to visit, highly recommended. The rangers who are part of organized tours are passionate and kmowledgeable, full credit to them and are making a difference. Kingfisher Bay resort itself is attempting to blend several objectivea as a family destination, eco lodge/enviro oriented (Fraser island is a listed as world heritage by Unesco) and as part of the Acoor hotel group it is also expected to be commercially viable. As a result it achieves none of it. The resort was built in the early 90s and shows its age. Outside of an initial effort to design it within a range of man made ecosystems, it shows little in the "environmentally friendly" space and i didnt see any evidence towards strong sustainability procedures. The staff is friendly but kept to a minimum through heavy rosters. It is no wonder why Australians consider destinations in south east asia as a preference first, The price tag is fairly heavy considering the overall quality om display (amenities/food/service) when compared to other options in the APAC zone. Food is really average at best except for degustation menu at the main restarant.
S. M.
Fraser Island is such an awesome place, and Kingfisher Bay Resort would have to be one of the best places to stay on the island. We stayed in one of the houses at the resort, which was very spacious with a nice outlook over the water. There are 4 pools at the resort (plus a hot spa), with the main pool being popular with kids, but the other pools being much quieter if that's your preference. Poolside food and drinks also a plus!
Make sure you explore Lake McKenzie, which is about 30-40 mins via 4x4 from the resort.
L. T.
Booked in at the River Heads office and took the bus to the ferry. Friendly staff, everyone says 'hello' the maintenance staff included. Kingfisher Bay Resort has.. Huge areas to avoid the crowds... Everything is a little pricey considering how much it costs to get supplies and employees into Kingfisher Bay Resort. My local pub charges more.?!
Wearing casual clobber is the norm, though we all look nice in a Versace frock....It can get busy at the bars and food counters at dinner time...school holidays (kids hey!). All the food is good particularly 'The Sand Bar' and 'breakfast buffet....the 5 course set dinner at 'The Seabelle' was lacking...
"Activity"' I find, is a vulgar word...but there is not just a plethora, but a multitude of things to do... as I've always tried to maintain my Clive Palmer physique, I did nothing. The reception staff are attentive and very helpful. Would certainly go again.
C. Z. d.
Came to Fraser Island for a day trip with a free lunch. Resort looks nice, with great looking acco. Pools are very cold. Reception was too crowded, queue was very long. Information you get from reception depends on the the experience of the employee which helps you. You have more possibilities of sightseeing the island if you inform at reception (with the right employee). We arranged a private tour to Lake McKenzie with a ranger, which was great. Lunch at Sand bar was simple, you would expect buffet style, not much for kids, drinks excluded.
I. C.
Had dinner at the seabelle restaurant. The food was superb, comprising locally sourced ingredients and bush tucker. Even the deserts, I had the wattle seed mousse, which was a highly original dish and truly delicious. The wait staff were professional and courteous but friendly and interactive with our party of 11. I would recommend dining here.
H. C.
Visited on a days trip that came with lunch, however was very disappointed with the food! I ordered the Rainbow salad that specified chunky avocado and grilled sweet corn, what arrived was two dollops of mushy avocado on the side with what looked like 10 pieces of tinned sweet corn and tasteless quinoa. When I had made this known to the staff, I was told that the chef had written the menu and made a mistake on the wording on the menu... Back to the drawing board for the "Head chef " me thinks.
Saying this, the general facilities in the resort are very good with a few lovely pools and a tennis court.
W.
Transportation to the Kingfisher Bay Resort is via a 40 minute ferry ride from Hervey Bay. If you book all your transfers through the hotel, you won't have to work out how to get to the resort once you arrive at Hervey Bay airport.
When we got to the hotel reception for check-in, the staff member there ignored us even though we lined up in the Accor Plus priority queue. After we had been waiting a while, Ranger Tess was nice enough to check us in. I later found out that the reception staff member was Kat from the UK and was apparently the Duty Manager. Other reception staff that we met during our stay such as Marc was helpful and Elvie was friendly.
Our room was a good size and had large glass doors which opened out to a balcony with two outdoor chairs. The bathroom had the shower over the bath and the bathroom window had no window coverings. A screen outside the room provide some privacy.
In the main resort area there are two pools and two restaurants, the Maheno and the Seabelle Restaurant. Near the beach, you'll find two other pools and the Sunset Bar and the Sand Bar.
The Rangers conduct activities, some of them at a cost and some are at no charge. The Rangers are very knowledgeable and friendly. We participated in the Beach and Mangrove walk with Ranger Adam and the Bush Tucker walk with Ranger Anne. Both these activities were free. We also went on the guided Canoe Paddle with Ranger Jay. This activity was $30 per person. I would recommend that anyone staying at the resort participate in some of the walks/tours listed in their 'What's On' guide.
Other things you can do include, but is not limited to, is fishing, hiking or hiring a 4WD and discover the island.
We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay at the Kingfisher Bay Resort.
S. C.
Great weather with very helpful staff and so much to do. Not enough time to do all the ranger activities in our two days here. Only issue is on some days of week casual dining Sands Bar is closed which limits eating options
M. P.
We stayed in one of the villas close to the restaurants and pools for 5 nights. it was very dated and heavily used.
Cleanliness was an issue, especially the carpet was very dusty.
Most of the tiles were moving (not attached to the subfloor anymore), the kitchen cooktop (gas) didn’t work properly.
Shampoo, hand soap, etc., are in dispensers attached to the wall...
Very noisy during the night with loud music and karaoke from the pools area. Pools water was very cold (mid September).
Fraser Island is a paradise, these facilities are not up to the requirements of this island. It needs refurbishment ASAP.
If it was not because of its proximity to the ferry I would not go back to this resort.
b. t.
Resort is a bit out dated but not too bad. Awesome location. Dinner was fantastic, breakfast not so flash but ok if you like the previous days leftovers!

Absolutely loved the resort. Fantastic accommodation.
Very helpful staff.
4WD day tour was amazing.
Can't wait to go back.

The food," absolutely fantastic," big thanks to chef, cheers mate,

For making our last night stay so comfortable , and assisting my son and I
with our safe departure,
still standing beside myself in wonderment "

Perfect place for a resort. It's nestled perfectly into the surrounding environment.
This is an awesome place to stay if you want to see the famous World Heritage Listed Fraser Island.
K. B.
If you go via the east coast the road west is a real 4WD test. When you get there it is worth the drive. Great staff and good food. The west coast is much quieter with calm waters. Great for fishing.
B. B.
We enjoyed the accommodation. Bring a fishing rod because the fishing of the pier was fantastic and beautiful. The breakfast buffet was ggood but the pool good but pool menu was awful. The pizza bar was better.
S. B.
Had a wonderful time. Great service, food and scenery. Must does are sunset drinks at the jetty bar, beauty spots tour and the plane flight off the beach over the island. Awsome.!
s. b.
What a location. Absolutely perfect. Everyone was in such a great relaxing mood it made it so much a magical place to be. 10 out of 10
P. R.
Great place, everyone made to feel very welcome, good atmosphere and facilities. Cold beer reasonable food, an oasis in the middle of the Sandy strait will be back, a good stop over while sailing through . Ps good ice creams as well.
N. R.
It was a nice place but alot of things in our villa didn't work. Locks on doors and iron. Beds were super uncomfortable. And a staff member spilt red juice from a steak meal all over my good shirt while I was attending a wedding and put a downer on my night. Then wouldn't do anything to compensate for it.
K. J.
We stayed two nights and.enjoyed the beauty spot.tour with Pete B who was absolutely fantastic, witty and.informative. The room.and.food.was all.wonderful and.we had an awesome.time ..thank you. We will be back !

Spacious, clean and quiet rooms. Choose your room or be prepared for a long walk and stairs to get to your room. Nice food. Great Pool Bar area.
S. K.
Changed rooms 3 times but found a really nice one over looking the lagoon in a "newer" room. Try to get an upstairs room if you can. Beds are ok. Our aircon is leaking but that might be due to the humidity outside. Buffet breakfast is ok but more knowledge and variety for those with allergies is needed.
g. h.
Easy to get to on the barge. Resort very relaxing and friendly people. I would recommend it.
J. S.
Kingfisher Bay Resort is in a fantastic spot, nestled in the trees overlooking Great Sandy Strait. It forms part of its local environment nicely.
It has all the usual facilities, and is very family friendly (e.g.: a pool; scheduled activities; recreation areas for the kids and plenty for Mum and Dad to do, too).
Staff are attentive and helpful, and are very welcoming.
The villa we stayed in (privately owned) was a little 'tired', and would have benefited from a refurbishment (particularly the bathroom and kitchen).
The central areas, too, while clean, were tired and suffering from some basic janitorial shortcomings (mainly due to the very high ceilings - cobwebs and bird droppings up very high - which, while not present at ground level, still gave an impression that there were some simple things that could be improved upon).
Dinner service was lovely (Seabelle), if over-efficient (Maheno). Service at the bars was prompt and the Jetty Hut for sunset was a standout.
Overall, a lovely couple of days, and a great base to explore the island (including a fun trip across the island each day, to reach the ocean-side and the better-known highlights).
H. L.
Fraser Island is a beautiful Island which must be seen. But this resort is expensive compared to the quality of the rooms and the food. If staying here I would recommend renting a car and drive on the beaches! Wonderful experience
V. H.
This resort is just fabulous staff reception every body friendly helpful made our stay not want to end rooms just like pictured will stay again also the spa was the bomb thanks Maria and the local store sold clothes I love so bought a few
A. D.
Older-styled beautiful eco tourist resort on Fraser Island -Kgari. Just off the mainland of Australia, but worlds away from the rat race. The only down side really was a fairly ordinary breakfast. The staff, tours and accommodation were all good. This place isn’t a bells and whistles newby- rather a comfortable and relaxing stay with a wealthy friend.
T. S.
Didn't spend a huge amount of time at the resort but it had everything you could need. Helpful and friendly staff.
C. C. (.
Amazing lodging. Treetop sights and sounds delightful morning and night. Staff attentive at every move from ck in to tour bookings. Restaurants all delish. Wish I had more time here!
R. G.
Reasonable price, clean, good food (great buffet for breakfast which is included in price). Great outside area with a huge swimming pool. The only resort on Fraser Island and I think it should stay this way as Fraser Island is on World heritage.
S. V. W.
Isabelle was a wonderful waitress. She really brightened up our dinner and the time we spent at the Sand and Wood.

Went here earlier in the year and had a mixed experience overall. Due to flooding, we couldn't make it to our "Last Minute Deal" package, which was stated as non-refundable, but the resort gave us a voucher for the amount I'd paid, which was very good of them, although it meant we had to spent a lot more money for a shorter stay. Had the "Fraser Indulgence Package" instead. Was a good deal overall, but our cheese platter that we had ordered as is directed was forgotten about and arrived very late to the Jetty, and we never even got our 30 minute massages. I'd phoned the massage place in the resort and clearly made a booking for the day that we were leaving, a few hours before the ferry. After waiting for over 2 hours between checkout time and when our appointments were booked, we were told that they had no reservation for us and that they had no available appointments. I told them that the massages were part of the deal and we had already paid for them, but they could do nothing about it. I was disgusted and crushed. I'd been looking forward to the massage and had waited outside under awnings in the rain for over two hours simply to be turned away without an apology. I never received a refund and that experience soured an otherwise lovely stay. Honestly, I won't be returning to Kingfisher Bay because of that. But I still want the massages I'd PAID FOR and BOOKED.

Awesome experience, great service, good one day tour packages and good food. Fraser Island makes a great holiday and kingfisher bay resort is the place to be, especially if you don't have a 4WD. We stayed for 3 nights and did the one day 4WD tour and also a half day whale watching. Both were amazing experience. We had done whale watching in Port Macquarie last year, but there were far more sightings here.
D. M.
For the price you pay to stay and play here..you would expect them to get the small things right. Had multiple issues on the hospitality side of things as well as the rooms. Some of the activities were quite unorganised. The communication from staff to us wasn't clear or concise. Beautiful part of the world though.
E. C.
This eco resort is your best option if you plan to visit Fraser, located at the ferry terminal, it makes arrival and departure extremely easy. They have got the check in process down to a fine art, bussing people in from the ferry to the admin building and handing out keys and instructions to everyone in a matter of 5min. The resort is a one stop shop for anything you could want to do on the island, including; whale watching tours, 4wd hire, segways, kayaking, canoes, boat hire, island tours, nature walks etc. These offerings enables you to experience all Fraser island has to offer with minimal effort. You do need to organise any tours the day before, so a small amount of organisation is required. There are 3 restaurants, 2 of which you have to book at as they get quite busy and one more casual diner. There are also 2 additional bars. The accomodation is very comfortable with a sizeable room, aircon, TV, fridge, toiletries and a small balcony.
T. C.
Overall good, furnishing, bathroom and kitchen good. However, check in not available until 4pm when 2pm was advertised, cleaning crew delays. Drinks were provided while waiting. A few broken light bulbs
D. L.
Hidden away in Australia surrounded by dingoes on Fraser Island you will find a nice little bar/bistro with a pool and activities for kids. Acceptable prices for the location. Accessible by boat and ferry only. A nice little find!
S. C. D.
Well the actual resort is lovely the atmosphere is great, peaceful and the serenity is spectacular.
The rooms are dated the furniture is a touch on the nose and the stereo and appliances could do with an upgrade for convenience.
We had dinner at the restaurant and I must give compliments to the chef the 270 gram sirloin was cooked to perfection close the best steak I've eaten and I know my steak! Mushrooms on top added the finishing touch.
The down side I am disappointed to say is the salad bar was worse than the wogga Rsl baker dinner, veggies no tast over steamed and the salads were not even rabbit food. My fat little 2 year old will eat kangaroo poo and turned his nose up at the salad bar!
Desert was ok ice cream too cold we couldn't scoop it and fruit flies all over the fruits.
I smiled and paid as the steak took me home.
Over all a really good place to stay, I hope this review can be taken and improvements made as it's so close to being a five star resort given the location and magical place.

Very nice place, after one light was not working, they gave us 50 AUD refund for every day IT was broken.
The whole resort is just beautiful and I recommend it !
Best wishes from Germany

Gorgeous resort, excellent food, great service, I highly recommend this experience. Would be a perfect place for a wedding or honeymoon.

Great place to visit. Meals and drinks were a good price down on and near the jetty. The restraunts were a little expensive at $43 for a steak. Shop not too bad.

Lovely room, great location. The villas are definitely the way to go IMO, especially if you are going with friends or family. The three bedroom villa had plenty of space.

Unique eco resort situated on the Western side of Fraser Is. 4wd barge service operates from River Heads on the Mainland. Many levels of accommodation in Rainforest setting overlooking the Sandy Straits. Two main areas. One for resort guests with large swimming pool, reception, and Restaurant. The Lodge reception area of the resort is quite spectacular and worth the visit. There is also another area for visitors with a Bistro and swimming pool opposite the resort. White Sandy Beaches and pristine aquamarine
water. Long jetty for offloading 4wd vehicle's and tourist buses. Guests at resort fish from the jetty. It is a favourite anchorage for yachts and motor boats, and to have a swim in the beautiful waters and walk in the rain forest.

Sorry guys, staff were great, not much activity for the kids provided by resort, even in school holidays, resort itself was ok, getting a little tired though, and the whole COVID thing is a bit tiresome.... wasn't really backed up 100 percent with a lot of things, best thing was day trip called Beauty Spot, guide Mr Peter Myers was excellent, and thoroughly enjoyed the day out.

Fraser Island is amazing and should not be missed. However, the kingfisher resort seems as if they have fallen asleep. They won some
awards and stopped changing. Hence you have rooms and villas that are getting in worse condition and not being repaired. The breakfast is very simple and slightly overpriced.
- you have to ask for cheese and then get 1 slice.
- good coffee is extra

It's like being in a wild paradise: beautiful but with all the commodities! But watch out for the spiders, the snakes and the sharks...you will see some for sure! Super friendly staff! If you'd like to feel the escense of Australia, don't hesitate!!!

We had a great 4 days at Fraser Island staying at the Kingfisher Bay Resort. Although it was winter, you wwould never know. The days were warm with clear blue skies. We experienced so much in such a short time, from the 4 wheel drive trip around the coast with Martin as our tour guide, to Segways on the beach with Adam.
Martin had such a wealth of knowledge and great driving skills. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the the facilities and accommodation was great. Recommended it to anyone.

Nice views and day tour around island, however, we found leftover coffee from previous guest in the kettle in our room, which shouldn’t happen if the staff clean the room properly.

Good place for yacthies to drop the hook and enjoy a decent pizza, cold beer and a swim in the pool. Bit pricy though 🙃

A magic place. Yes, its looking very old but given its location, setting and the fact that we have recieved the best customer service it's still worthy of 5 stars! Service at the check in and smiles on all the staff really make a getaway special.
We stayed in the Pandanus Villas and they are huge, very generous sizing. Kids loved the spa on the verandah!

We didn't stay there but travelled on the all-terrain bus. Fantastic day on Fraser Island. PT our driver and storyteller was the best.
