I alternate my alcohol purchases between the two Murgon bottle shops. (So it appears that I don't have a problem.) I only buy one brand of beer, but The Australian also has a very good range of wines and spirits. Good advice too.

We did part of the rail trail from Wondai to Murgon and stopped at the hotel for a coffee, on a Sunday, when little else was open. The staff gave us great hospitality. The publican took time to welcome and talk to us. Would highly recommend this hotel. A friendly, nice town.

Rooms where clean, not showers, water pressure was good. Bed was comfortable plenty of pillows and blankets. Good mobile and Internet signal. Coffee and tea provided. Had a good sleep.

Called in for dinner tonight and the meals were basic but nicely cooked. The steak was half the size of my plate but as it was a thinner cut it couldn't be cooked as blue as I would have liked. Still enjoyed it very much though and the garlic sauce was delicious. The only downside was there was no dessert offered as apparently very few people ask for it so we went across the road and finished our evening over there.

Absolutely perfectly done steak. Meals prepared quickly and very reasonably priced. Tidy, renovated decor that oozes class with friendly and approachable staff. Only quibble is drink prices are steep for a small town but I understand the logic in their case. Will absolutely return.

Lovely clean friendly pub. The food is spot on, no it's not gourmet restaurant level. It's probably the best value you will find anywhere, perfectly cooked, hot delicious food. Steak cooked perfectly, great sauces, thumbs Up to the chef and staff here. The area is stunning too, great free camping, shops and atmosphere

The staff where friendly and nice. The room came with plenty of towels, bedding, supplies & was fairly clean. The bedding & towels where nice & fresh. However the room had poor lighting & the bathroom door didn't lock & there was a few large holes in the shower ceiling... At $95 per night for 2 people, I would have expected there not to be holes in the ceiling & the room be a bit cleaner. The main pub area is next door & nicely done.

The staff at The Australian Hotel were extremely helpful and very nice . They let me into my room early so I could freshen up before attending a funeral . The room was tidy and clean

Food was okay. If it had been normal hours for them, it would probably have been better, actually. Four stars simply because the staff was awesome, and went above and beyond. Even though it wasn't during their normal food service hours, they made sure this hungry traveler was fed, when nothing else in town was open. So helpful!

Readily available "Jack Reacher" style motel rooms right in heart of town opposite the RSL. Hotel seems to close early on weeknights. No secure parking, but apparently it's not a big problem.
