Building is combined with residential and sharing with same lifts and entrances. Hotel itself located on ground and first level only. All the front desk staff are kind and welcoming. I believe they got lots of complaints in regards to the air conditioning so when I came to reception spoke with a guy he offered me room move straight away in the next day. Anyway room is clean and cozy, and bed is comfortable. Compared with other hotels in Canberra this hotel I think not too bad though

From the moment we arrived the service was fantastic and our room was very clean and comfortable. The view to Lake Burley Griffin was an added bonus. No to mention the culinary delights with a vegan twist. Highly recommended!!

We had one of the small rooms on the low level, whilst small it was well designed and has the latest tech and a lot of nice touches. It has everything you need and more with a large tv, apple play, Alexa, black out blinds, great air con, free snacks (pretty much crisps and biscuits) and free bar fridge with can of coke, couple of beers, some wine, milk and water. Things you should be aware of is that Wilson runs the car park and 24 hours parking is $35, also in the room there is no door to the bathroom and the walls are glass (not an issue for us but new couples may get embarrassed by using the toilet). We got a heavy discount and probably wouldn’t pay full freight for the room but it served our needs perfectly. Would certainly recommend it.

Design of rooms was great (1 bedroom apartment), and overall the hotel look and feel had a postive vibe to it. My only concern was the fact it was built next to a busy highway, and given the room relies on a cross-draft for ventilation it makes the lounge very noisy.

Apartments are compact with a lovely sleek design, although without air conditioning the lack of flyscreens seems like a massive oversight. I would think an eco friendly apartment would encourage its residents to keep windows open.
We have beautiful big sliding doors that offer soundproofing or a lovely breeze but it’s so hard to appreciate this luxurious feel when I’m either fighting off bugs or the heat :(

Channelled my inner Helen Keller during my stay - at 50+ my eyesight could be better and the mood lighting throughout the hotel meant that I was constantly reaching for my glasses (is it time for me to buy a chain to wear them around my …

Unique design, biodiversity excellent. They grow their own food and use it in their dishes.one of the quietest and beautifully lit foyers. Wood everywhere, repurposed from older buildings. A virtuous circle in architectural terms. If you have travelled internationally this is the place for jetlag. Sleep guaranteed. Staff from every country on earth. Views across 360 degrees across city. Hairdressers on site.bSmall charming library, discrete spaces to work in. Great for families, bike hire available. Concierge knowledge is matchless b
Price again kind of unbelievably reasonable but book early. A secret gem getting more and more international attention.
You have to go there , sit there eat there to get it. Art works everywhere. Green walls flowing down all sides of building. And if that not enough, the Palace Cinema is located beneath hotel. Escapology embodies

Totally get what you're aiming for and love your efforts in this direction. Great CSR, proximity to uni, mini bar and breakfast inclusion with room rate. Convivial staff. Amazing ambience. In Room 212, we couldn't tell if it was day or night with tree fern well and no opportunity to see the sky — a bit disconcerting. Phone in room didn't work for contacting reception or housekeeping. Nor did the Apple TV. Kettle space could be more generous and shower/wetroom just made a big wet mess on the floor. Next time we'll book an outward facing room. Can't wait to see future tweaks.

World class hotel in a world class location with a world class restaurant Monster on site. Not to mention a great view of Black Mountain and Lake Burley Griffin and proximity to the city. Worth staying at if you're looking for a nice hotel.

My partner and I were a bit hesitant to stay the Ovolo. We chose the Ovolo as we are both vegetarian and heard about the great food, comfortable bed and how modern it is. We had a sunroom suite. It was great. We had a king size bed, very comfortable, it was easy for me to sleep on the bed as I have arthritis. The room was reasonably clean, room service is great, unlimited candy is great, unlimited loot bags was great, unlimited refrigerated drinks and alcohol was great, tea was great! The breakfast buffet was to die for. Great variety of fruits, pastries, cereals, juices, coffee and tea, plus vegan coconut yoghurt and normal yoghurt. All was amazing and great. The customer service was very customer driven all with great attitudes and well regards. The only thing I didn't necessarily admire was the cleanliness of the shower. Other than that, everything was superb and my partner and I had a well above average stay. They have great selection of food for dinner and lunch. Between 4:30-5:30 customers at the hotel can have a free drink of choice and unlimited snacks, it's called social hour.
They have hire bikes and hire scooters available. The location is quite great, very close to everything in Canberra CBD. We really enjoyed our stay.

This place has issues. If you are in a room overlooking the lake it's impossible to have the balcony door open as the traffic noise is awful. Reception will mark a parking spot for EVs for you but other vehicles simply park anywhere they like and no real attempt is made to control this. On the plus side the staff are delightful
O. L.
I really like the quirkiness of this hotel, and the interior is lovely with nicely curated artworks. One complain would be the tight space in it, even I got the bigger room, it still feels quite tiny
B. L.
Incredible service. I asked if I could arrange a special treat for my partner's birthday and the Ovolo staff went above and beyond. Champagne and a card waiting in the room, Portuguese custard tarts delivered to the door, free drinks in happy hour and a discount at the restaurant. We were so spoiled and absolutely delighted - a very full five star rating from us!
K. M.
The best hotel I have ever been to. Friendly staff and room was amazing. Would definitely go back
A.
A great stay with our four legged best friend. You can even take your dog in the restaurant. What is better than having your doggie join yiu for breakfast? I havent been to too many places that are so dog friendly.
R. T.
A really nice building with some great businesses on site. I've both stayed here as a guest in the hotel which was wonderful as well as conducted business with partners and the facilities are great
R. M.
Great hotel, fantastic service and lovely welcome, what lets it down is the parking is super expensive as they don't own it, Wilson's do and it's $35 W day!
J. P.
Cool and funky hotel and the staff were very helpful. Gave us bottles of water when borrowing bikes for a ride around the lake and for the drive home which I thought was very thoughtful. It’s a vegetarian hotel which was fine by me but not well publicised in advance and one of the men in our group was a bit disappointed with no bacon at breakfast. He’ll get over it though! My only slight gripe is that everywhere is very dark - fine and atmospheric in the bar and restaurant but the lift and room could have done with a few more lights. Loved the full size toiletries that are topped up in the bathroom, rather than the mini bottles and mini soaps in most hotels. They smelled nice and felt good too! Lovely experience overall and I would recommend this fun hotel to anyone visiting Canberra. Well done!

Good place to stay. Great ambiance and awesome service...most times. Room very modern, quiet, comfortable, and all mod cons, including apple tv. Surprising freebies including minibar, happy hour (2 drinks free), continental breakfast. Two failures: coffee never arrived with breakfast one morning & a beer never arrived one evening. They apologized profusely, with real sincerity. Only real downer was parking at Wilson's Car Park underneath at $35/day.
Overall though it had a nice vibe, much nicer than bigger chain hotels and I'd be happy to stay again!

We have enjoyed our stay at this Hotel. Down side for us was the all Vegetarian Menu. Whilst we don't mind this, the Menu was limited with not enough diversity or choice for us, however, what was available was excellent and well presented.
The parking was somewhat of a nightmare, however, staff did just ' fix it'! Luther is amazing and deserves a mention as an exceptional staff member...he really looked after us after an exhausting day of travel. We would stay here again.

We were super exited about our stay at Ovolo Nishi, which we booked after visiting the hotel in person and being showed two rooms by the manager on duty (who was super friendly and helpful). Whilst there, we received a written quote stating the room rate for the two nights as well as all inclusions. We stated that we would call later that afternoon to confirm and lock everything in.
A couple of hours later, we called to make the actual booking and spoke a lady at the front desk, where we were informed that the rate had gone up and she clearly was in no mood to honour the quote given to us a couple of hours earlier. After some push back, she agreed to contact the manager and phoned back with a slightly lower price, but still not what we agreed upon with the manager (stating that the computer spits out the pricing). Finally we managed to book the room at (almost) the same price as initially quoted.
Arriving at the hotel the next day, all the parking bays were full, so I hopped out of the car to check in. I mentioned the booking name and I could see the lady behind the counter smirking (this is when I realised this was the same lady my husband had spoken to the day before to make the booking). As there were other guests in the lobby, she stated that she would be charging the room rate plus $100 to the card (as a security deposit), to which I agreed - assuming that this would be the agreed upon rate (which we had received a written confirmation of), plus the $100 security deposit.
I asked my husband to check what we were charged as she never actually stated the room rate which I assumed she would not (because guests might be paying different room rates). Lo and behold - we were charged the high room rate (over which we had been fighting before).
My husband had to go back to the lobby (again) and even had to show her the booking confirmation with the confirmed rate that she had emailed to him the day before. It took a conversation with another manager to say that this would be sorted out.
Have it not been for this, we would have given the hotel five stars - the rooms are well appointed, comfortable and clean. This initial experience just left a sour initial impression which unfortunately clouded the experience.
C. B.
Could not fault a single thing about this wonderful establishment. Thank you so much Mars and all your team for catering to our every need in an enthusiastic way (going to the extent of setting up an extra table) even though we didn't have a reservation. The food was deliciously different and the accompanying wines enjoyed by all. We will definitely return and will be highly recommending Monster Kitchen to others.

Stayed two nights for a minibreak midweek and was really excited to stay at this new brand. The vibe at check in was great but the lack of options for breakfast and no InRoom Dinning were a little disappointing. The “perks” sound better on their marketing than when you actually stay. Hallways and room lighting are very dim and dark although a great size and very private. No regrets on staying but most likely not coming back or choosing this brand in future. Giving this one a 3 star due to how well the staff delivered the best they could do even though this is not my regular cup of tea.

This one is for the young hip vegetarians. Beautiful designed building and worth a visit to the Monster Bar just to have a gander. The accommodation is creatively stylish and celebrates mid-century design. Staff were mostly helpful, warm and friendly. However... In the one bedroom we had the bathroom is located between the bedroom (which is open plan) and lounge dining area - it has frosted glass walls but you can clearly see what is going on in the bathroom from both sides so you best be travelling with a very close friend. Splendid views on the lake side and there is a balcony with seating however quite noisy as Parks Way has 6 lanes of traffic below. The free flowing ventilation which is a design feature, did not work as well as planned and we needed to get an evaporated cooler brought up - they have these in the lobby - warning to make these work effectively in heat you need ice to put in the top. This place is not recommended in Summer (when we visited), when there is smoke or dust in the air or if you suffer from allergies or run hot as the natural ventilation really doesn't work that well and what is outside comes in. Oh and they restaurant, bar and room service only serve vegetarian food but there are plenty of other options near by.
M. S.
Kinda overrated, definitely not as good as the stay we had at Ovolo Darling Harbour back in 2016. Wifi dodgy, breakfast pretty weak - only 2 options and both very mediocre and only with the option of filter coffee or tea at breakfast included. Social hour was anything house or a soft drink, so nothing fun like a cocktail and the staff just seemed a little out of it. TV screen turned on randomly in the middle of the night however rooms a cool design but beds not amazingly comfortable. Would have just preferred to get a nicer airbnb at a similar price. Also the parking situation is not fun unless you want to shell out $35/24hr for Wilson parking.

Recommend this hotel for a great stay in a central location.
The rooms are really nice with a few little extras thrown in if you book directly with the hotel, which is well worth the effort. And then you’re supporting them directly too, which is great.
The bar and restaurant is a great place to relax with a drink early in evening before dinner and the food is great too.
The staff have done a great job adapting to new ways of doing things during the pandemic and I felt really safe there during my stay.

Stayed here for 9 nights on a business trip in one of the one bedroom apartments. Overall a good stay with some pros and cons.
Pros: terrific quirky and engaging design, clever use of building materials and great views on to Black Mountain from the balcony. Some of the staff were great (thanks Rupac) and the ‘vegetarian only’ food from the restaurant was always good. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was good. New Acton area has good restaurants (but no bottle shop!). Kitchen was well equipped. Great bar and sitting area on the Ground Floor.
Cons: the ‘passive cooling’ was not very effective on the hot days and opening the balcony doors let in so much road noise I couldn’t listen to the TV or make phone calls. Serve was a bit unpredictable, with 2 days of room service trays sitting in my room in spite of requests to pick them up. Restuarant does not do lunch, only opening at 1400. Washing machine and dryer, but no rack or line to dry clothes.

The bedroom was on the small size but comfortable, especially the bed. Overall the hotel uses basic building materials such as concrete and timber to create an understated 'modern' look which may not be to everyone's taste and I would not classify this as a luxury hotel. Ate dinner once in the hotel and although I was happy with my 3 course meal, my companions were less than impressed with theirs.
F. K.
Wow what a little hidden gem. Nothing bad to say. Rice, Curry, and bread are fantastic. I had the beef and the amount of spice was just right. This is going to be one of those 'need to try one of everything on menu places. 5 stars !. Ohh and the price, FANTASTIC !

I've stayed here before and I love the style and Uber cool nature of this hotel. Recently I stayed in one of the rooms overlooking lake burley griffin. Gun barrel views of parliament house and great big sky views. But...
There is no air-conditioning, so on a hot evening the only way to stay cool is to open sliding doors to balcony and crack a large window at the back. You'll be cool, but the road noise was unbelievable... Who knew road noise in Canberra was a thing! Also the bed was very uncomfortable. Monster (their restaurant) was great as we're staff. But I would not get the same room type again.
P. L.
Great Hotel, Great Service, Great Food. I had a lovely stay there!!! The hotel has a very nice Bar and restaurant with a variety of vegetarian options. The design is different and rooms are decorated in a way that provides a very relaxing environment.
C. F.
Kooky little hotel, conveniently located with stylish rooms and reception/ bar area. Big on sustainability, but might have taken this a bit far with the restaurant serving only plant-based food, so don’t rock up expecting to be able to order a steak for dinner or bacon for breakfast.
S. C.
Nice! Friendly staff, comfortable bed, close walk to restaurants, complimentary bikes.
M. P.
A great location to spend a 3 night getaway in Canberra from Sydney. Surrounded by great in-house and neighbouring cafes, bars and restaurants. Great to be able to walk into Civic downtown and hip Braddon. The lake and walking trails nearby also are a great way to start or end a day. The hotel room was modern with large windows with great views of parliament house and all the greenery. Our room was very clean and very comfortable for 2 adults. Parking our car was easier then we thought which was great.
P. D.
Amazing night, yes I know there's no meat, but the food was tasty without being pretentious, service was attentive, professional and friendly, haven't seen that very often these days.
It was very brave of the management to become vegetarian not many would have the confidence in their own convictions.
A.
The hotel is stylish as per the website photos, has free minibar which was a nice touch, the staff was friendly and prompt.
However it is plagued by lack of attention to detail.
Our TV didnt work when we arrived. Later the apple tv remote was out of battery, and the staff were prompt with a charger and resolved the issue.
The internet was super slow which meant the tv streaming wouldn't work.
We had to troubleshoot and change networks everyday for it to work.
The shower is built impractically, and the bathroom gets completely wet on every use.
Flickring light in our bathroom which eventually stopped working.
The hotel rooms are on floor 1 and 2, and there are no real views from any room, so no point paying extra for a room with views.
The included Breakfast is disappointing. However you can buy more, but the paid breakfast selection wasn't great either. The restraunt "monster" was in general a major letdown, but thats a story for another day.
Pro tip: book via quantas and get better rates than their website.

We stayed in Ovolo Nishi with our two bulldogs. As soon as we walked in and sat down at the lobby, we were greeted by friendly staff who offered our fur babies “puppy-cinos” and beds to rest. The rooms are beautifully decorated and we had a room with views of Parliament House. We also had dinner at the restaurant which served excellent food. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. If you have to stay somewhere in Canberra, this is where it should be. We can’t wait to visit the other Ovolo locations!!
M. S.
My wife and I chose to stay here for our 10th wedding anniversary as we have stayed at other Ovolo hotels. And we were not disappointed. This place exceeds all expectations that we had and I would consider it to be probably the top hotel to stay in Canberra for an eclectic and mysterious vibe. We loved everything about this place from the decor to the food to the overall amenities and accommodation we stayed in. I don’t think I’d stay anywhere else when coming to Canberra again.
J. L.
We’ve stayed at Ovolo (darling harbour) a few times and Ovolo does not disappoint.
They really stay on top of their game in being unique. The fit-outs in each ovolo has been so eclectic, and the staff are always so great.
Shout-out to the staff in Monster bar/restaurant on Sunday and Monday night.
Great food and drinks
P. L.
We loved the place. Especially the amazing interior design detailed to every corner. The light could be a little brighter tho.
The staff was nice and friendly.
Free overnight public parking at the rear is also a plus.
Would love to come back the next time.

Fantastic staycation location!
My wife and I spent an anniversary evening at the Ovolo Nishi and had a great time. The staff and service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the decor was inspiring. Particularly happy with the massive bath and bathroom :)
M. K.
Nice room and hotel but I was disappointed with the breakfast that was included, where you had to pay an additional $10 for eggs!!
All vegetarian room service options weren't great either, so please improve on them!
Would like to give 3.5 stars if possible
T. H.
Fancy and fun hotel to stay if you are keen on trying something different than boring old same five star hotels.
We stayed in their Creative Sun room, which I think translates to ‘the room is larger than average and you get the sun’. In any case that’s what we expected and we got what we expected. The room was brightly lit during the day with natural light.
Interior is one of the things making the stay fun. All corners of the room were covered with unconventional materials that makes you feel like you’re in an art gallery than a hotel room.
The room is full of gadgets like Apple TV, Amazon Echo, iPad etc. We watched youtube on their TV.
We booked with Qantas so did not think we were eligible for their ‘perks’ but were pleasantly surprised when the reception told us the minibar and breakfast were included. Minibar had a bottle of sparkling water, a bottle of normal water, two bottles of Peronis, a half bottle of Deakin Estate Shiraz, a half bottle of Deakin Estate Chardonnay, a bottle of orange juice, a can of coke and a can of coke zero. All of them were free to consume and would get replenished at around 10am next day.
The parking felt a bit dear - $35.43 incl. card surcharge to park all day at Wilson parking underground the building.
As another reviewer has mentioned there were some noises which could deter good night’s sleep if you are sensitive. Mainly:
1. The room looked over Parkes Way where cars could zoom past occasionally.
2. The bathroom made odd tap-on-and-off sound once in a while without us using it. It seemed to react to other rooms using water in their bathrooms.
The hotel is within walking distance to National Museum of Australia which was a plus.
G. L.
Stayed here for 3 nights on a business trip to Canberra. The Hotel is modern and well built/designed. Inside the building is a very respected restaurant, a cinema, office space and residential. It has a cool vibe and there is always something going on at any time of the day. The wooden design is a real delight. The room was spacious and modern with everything you need at your fingertips via ipad. Free mini bar (on certain bookings) is also a really nice touch. 1 night I had room service through Monster restaurant which was delicious. Comfortable bed, good bathroom and great staff service. Happy with my stay overall
A. L.
Stayed here for two nights in the Original Sun room on the second floor (hotel only takes up the first two floors). Room was spacious, tastefully designed and had a good view of the lake. iPad, Alexa speaker and free mini bar were a plus (wine, beer, soft drinks and water – as well as a 'loot bag' of snacks on arrival). There was even a yoga mat (to take home) and free yoga lessons. Did not find the room dark as the room did not face the internal atrium, but there was a bit of traffic noise in the morning – worth booking the sun rooms. The hotel was centrally located to a number of great wine bars and restaurants. Buffet breakfast was excellent – a good spread of cured meats, cheese, sourdough, fruit and muesli. Only improvement would be the parking – options are $50 valet, $35 indoor or $20 outdoor per 24 hours ($4 all-day Sunday). Staff were pleasant and very informative. Highly recommend Ovolo Nishi and will certainly stay again.
M. V.
I booked Ovolo Nishi from a friends recommendation. it was totally worth it. The hotel itself both interior and exterior was quirky and cool! The room we stayed at was great. Food was delicious and service was attentive. If you book directly with the hotel you get looked after on some goodies, make sure to do so!
The breakfast was yummy, not your traditional boring wet scrambled eggs and soggy sausages!
a. w.
I loved this hotel. Designer did a great job giving consistent patterns inside out side from concrete wood shelving and tiling. As a pattern person I found it very relaxing. Benefit of absorbing noise is fantastic. Free mini bar and snacks is a nice touch. Despite the luxury I like the eco friendly side while getting guest comfort right. Tissues and bins where they should be.
The foyer works the best I have seen with bar and food easy to reach.
While a would stay here again the lighting need review by a lumen specialist. It does not work at all.
Thank you to the staff for a job well done.
PS I want the designers name.
M. M.
Attention Puppy parents, Ovolo has introduced the V.I.Pooch package!! Your pup can stay in your room with you and they'll provide a dog bed, bowls and a goodie bag for your dog. The hotel and staff are so accommodating and the service was excellent. Having drinks at the bar with our furry friend by our side was a highlight and we'll definitely be back again!
J. L.
Great hotel very friendly staff. Very modern and comfortable. Great added extras. Breakfast is good. Can't fault anything with our stay.
N. T.
24h reception service made our life easy during our road trip stop over. No special parking spot for hotel guests. No aircon. We stayed at the apartment and we loved all the cool design. Bathroom in master bed room was super tiny, like in Japanese hotels. Perfect lake view. Good location.
C. L.
The team at Ovolo Nishi were great! Everything was top notch! The design of the building is so cool. Plenty of photo opportunities every where. And it has a cinema! Yep thats right a CINEMA. This place is next level.
J.
With an artsy and almost quirky vibe, this hotel hits the mark. Staff are attentive and fun and the dark and edgy rooms offer luxury and comfort for guests. From the free mini-bar to the glamorous bath, definitely worth coming to stay.
N.
They provide apartments as well as hotel facilities. Currently they are trialing veg only food.
The gym is slightly small and they only allow 3 people at a time (although I have seen 4) which needs to be pre-booked.
H. J.
Had a lovely dinner with my friends. We had a greater waiter with short blonde hair and lovely service from a young strapping bloke behind the bar cleaning glasses.
D. C.
This place was beautiful. The staff were so nice. Almost too nice, like they enjoyed their jobs or something. The food in the hotel was delicious. The rooms were super cool and you get a bunch of free stuff. Possibly the best thing about Canberra.
B. B.
This is one of the coziest and lovely places to stay in Australia, not just Canberra. The design and layout is wonderful, you will probably want to just hang out in the hotel the whole time! The bar and and other facilities and just beautiful , my husband and I are looking forward to going back for a longer stay. I honestly feel in love with this place! Thank you for having us.
D. M.
Fantastic funky hotel in Canberra. The decor is unique and it’s quite dark here but the hotel is fantastic. The rooms were immaculate and the staff were very pleasant. Everything was included in the rooms so no worries about paying for extras. Loved my stay here, wish I could have stayed longer.
B. H.
An amazing & unique experience. The style of the hotel is most unusual, and grows on you. The staff are more than helpful. Only downside was no pool, but did have a gym. A lovely spot for a memorable weekend away.
L. V.
Awesome hotel! Ovolo Nishi has ruined other hotels for me. I only now want to stay in other hotels as good as my experience with Ovolo Nishi
R. S.
Nice enough hotel but it didn't really live up to all the hype. Probably wouldn't stay again, money could be better spent elsewhere. Full vegetarian restaurant didn't suit us.
P. T.
The hotel is modern and nice, but overall not very impress with the brekky… stayed at other hotels for better value with good breakfast spread.
S. C.
Very happy with our stay, good breakfast ,room , service. Be advised now of $35 per day for parking, no disc offered. No mention of this when booked.
T. B.
I stayed here recently for 2 nights and loved everything about it. Everything about the hotel was modern and contemporary, and it was styled perfectly. The staff were lovely and willing to help in whatever way they could. Will definitely recommend to others!
M. W.
Beautiful room, clean, gorgeous view. Food expensive and well, not my style. Staff were very friendly. Loved it. Cinema downstairs too, good place for snacks haha
N. J.
The hotel is gorgeous but the service could have been better. For e.g. the mini bar was complimentary but there was no bottled water in the room. When we asked about it we were told that they ran out of bottled water. Complimentary breakfast: there were only two items from the entire menu of monster kitchen that you were allowed to order. You have to pay for rest of them. I found it a little odd. Parking: is not free unless included in your booking.
T. M.
The striking thing about this hotel is it's appearance. Bikes are avail free to guests and there is easy access to some magnificent bike tracks. Enjoy some bar-snacks, or just the warmth of the friendly staff around the gas fire. The staff are amazing and did more than is usual to help make us comfortable.
S. B.
Nice hotel.
Pluses: trendy modern rooms. Nice bathroom. Comfortable bed. Free snacks and mini bar. Nice restaurant and bar. Alexa speaker and iPad in the room. Friendly staff.
Cons: couldn't get the sound on the tv to work. Safe didn't work. Windows in sun-room dirty enough to negate the purpose of getting a sun room (see photo).
M. B.
Thank you for the wonderful stay. There's a lot on offer at this hotel and it's in a convenient location. I liked the inclusions of the room and how modern and technical they've been with an Alexa, apple TV etc. It would have been nice to have just s bit more info on the touch panel about the room itself, and my Alexa wasn't actually functioning at all.
Other than that, great stay!
P. R.
Nice food, free minibar, friendly staffs.
R. J.
The hotel is great, very new age. Great foyer. In my room I had free mini bar, dimmer LED lights apple TV and an iPad, lots of nerdy goodness! I stayed with a group and while I had an excellent time, most rooms were far less than mine.
T. M.
Very convenient for city. The location of the hotel is superb. I always felt well taken care of. Great to stay for family with little kitchenette. The bar staff were lovely. Love our balcony with lake view. Last time in Canberra I stayed at the Aria and it was fabulous.
R. N.
Nice trendy hotel in a good location. Was disappointed with the view from the room though. Although booking 2 months in advance with a lake or mountain view we ended up with a view of the road, for nearly $400 a night we expected much better; we received a bottle of wine for a sorry but they couldn't change the room, fully booked apparently.
J. G.
Incredible interior design, fantastic & attentive staff. Would highly recommend & 100% stay here next time I’m in Canberra. Full of hidden touches (snack bag in room, lollies at entrance, free mini bar). Under 10 minutes to any major attraction (parliament house, gallery, war museum) & situated next to a new awesome cafe (Morning Glory, check it out). Goes over and above - 5 stars!
T. M.
The rooms are very small. The beds really should be premium quality given the room rate. I was very impressed with the staff. The furniture was a mix of vintage and quirkily crafted and the staff are delightfully friendly and welcoming. The hotel is well located not too far from Civic.
Z.
Quirky hotel with a unique fitout. Located in a buzzy mixed use building. Good location in close proximity to both Civic and the lake. Service unfortunately hit and miss.
J. c.
What a fabulous hotel with great facilities and staff. The room was spacious and comfortable with all the luxury items we crave for; iPad, Alexa, complimentary mini Bar and proper coffee! The only downside is that the rooms are very dark, so not great for anyone with limited sight.
F. M.
Amazing hotel, would definitely recommend this to all who are visiting Canberra! Staff were amazing and the room was beautiful. Such a great vibe and the bar down stairs was awesome. Only downside was when I booked the man on the phone got my last name wrong and missed that I also wanted a bottle of wine ordered but staff were quick to apologise about this so I didn't mind to much. The building as a whole was incredible and the design was one of the best I have seen. Will be staying here from now on!
D. K.
Stayed here a few times in various rooms and suites. All the rooms and suites are well presented, and clean. Rooms on the lower level tend to be quite small, so great for individuals staying for work, but more than one person in the room would make it a squeeze in some places. Suites are great for more than two (all self contained with kitchen and laundry), lack of air conditioning in suites can be annoying when the humidity is high. Be prepared for a lot of bare timber!

Location was great. Nicest hotel room we have ever stayed in. Be sure to get a room with a view as it is well worth the sunlight. Food at Monster was delicious. It's massive and spacious with contemporary furnitures. All the staff at the hotel was very friendly and very helpful.

I know it’s not everyone’s favourite but I quite like it. Stayed here 3-4 times: work paid: all different rooms. Some are narrow and tiny; others more spacious. Dingey is the difficult part of this hotel. I tripped over a tray left outside a room. Dropped something on the floor and never found it back. Wall is made of cardboard I could hear the neighbours. Still for some mysterious reasons, I like this place. Some magic. Oh maybe it’s their complementary mini bar.
A. M.
What an incredible hotel. The design and attention to detail of the building was impeccable. Everything was within walking distance, so barely had to drive. Staff also went the extra mile. Special mention to the manager Raven who went above and beyond to make sure this was a trip to remember. Will be back here for sure!

Beautiful Hotel, lovely staff. Room was rather small and our swipe card never worked for long. We had to take it to reception every single time we left the room and then prove who we were etc. That got pretty boring. Drinks at the bar are ridiculously expensive and you can't buy an ordinary beer. Good shower.
J. F.
The room was quirky, a bit funky even. Room was comfortable and temperature controlled (by hotel).
I booked a studio appartment. The bed folds down out of a cupboard and there is a huge gap between head of bed and shelves. I had to stuff cushions in the gap to avoid having my pillow being swallowed up during the night.
I went to admire my lovely view of the lake when I arrived from the balcony and when I came back inside, I had cobwebs all over me. On further inspection, thick spider webs were also on the outdoor chair and table.
Also the bathroom shower cubicle could have done with a better clean. There was remaining soap scum on parts of the wall.
None of this put a dampener on my trip though. The entrance to this place is stunning, so was my views and it was neat and tidy overall.

Spent two nights here, and absolutely love this hotel! Highly recommend for when in Canberra - the staff are welcoming, the bar has a great vibe for drinks and chilling out and the rooms are setup for relaxation and fun (minibar being included is ace!)
S. S.
Really loved the hotel design, my husband and I have stayed in this hotel. I have never been in such a beautifully designed hotel before. Super creative approach to everything. Definitely worth checking out. The only down side was that the check out time was at 11am and check in at 3pm, I think it is waaay pushing it considering you are paying for all 24h. We has a breakfast in the lobby cafe and we have waited for our extra hot coffee for 40min (which arrived just warm) and about 1h for our food. It really ruined a bit out amazing experience with the hotel so far. I would definitely would stay there again, but will not be having breakfast there for sure!

Extremely beautiful and lively boutique hotel in Canberra. The Ovolo Nishi is a very unique place to stay, either in the classic hotel section or in the apartment part of the hotel for a totally different experience, like a home in town. The architecture of the hotel is stunning. And the interior decoration very well design, modern and cozy. A very contemporary and elegant place to stay. And, what is best, the main lounge area is such a lively place with bar, restaurants and fireplace.

Our room was a little small, but overall we had a lovely stay. Breakfast was included but not many options were available. Great service by all.
T. M.
I was really disappointed with our first impression of the service. We loved the look of the hotel instantly but I was completely underwhelmed by the concierge. He was way too casual about us arriving and when I asked about parking he …
M. M.
The most friendly hotel staff I have ever seen. Beautiful hotel, however, we have stayed in designer loft apartments. A bit dark and cold apartment, not much sun gets through the windows, next time we will try to stay in Hotel Hotel. Really liked the restaurant Monster, abasulutely lovely food and creative environment.
L. B.
Great design and amazing staff. So friendly. The hotel had a warm atmosphere. We stayed in the Meandering atrium as well as another room, and both were lovely rooms for a romantic getaway.
B. D.
One of the best hotels in Canberra, this elegant establishment is an absolute delight to stay at. Set in the award winning Nishi Building in the heart of Canberra, this is the perfect place to treat yourself high class room of impeccable cleanliness and class, with either cosy atrium views or sweeping Canberra landscape views. Friendly staff will do everything to make your stay enjoyable. I cannot recommend this enough.
The kitchen is fantastic, thus I recommend dining in the charming lobby for any meal or enjoying the room service.
K. L.
Nice service and greet food. Convenient place.
T. M.
Stayed the night in an upgraded room 204. Also had dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant (Monster). The stay was great. The decor is very industrial and dark (almost like a sci fi movie set). When they say they are validating your parking it just applies a 50% discount (not free).
A. B.
Stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment on the top floor. The apartment is absolutely wonderful, with each room having their own ensuite with Aesop soaps and hair products. Also has a big kitchen perfect for making food if you don't feel like eating out. Lovely views
L. H.
We loved every minute of our stay at Hotel Hotel. Our meandering room was amazing - full of artworks, quirky furniture and a gorgeous bathroom. We loved the breakfast, the Lyneham cocktails were sublime, and it was close to lots of restaurants, bars, breakfast spots, the movies and Autumn walks.
J. G.
Very average hotel/apartment. No aircon in rooms only fans so summer would be a pain heating is ok in the winter though. It's a enviro friendly hotel that the young Marxists would love. The bin under the bathroom sink is rusty the floor was unclean.
The restaurant down stairs is fusion Japanese that is average. So it's a typical delusional Australian 5 star hotel that is far from 5 stars and more like 3.
$35 a day parking be sure you get a ticket and put it on your dash as it's a daily $65 fine if you don't.
T. R.
Unfortunately, the desire to be cool has overridden the need to be practical. No desk, no shelves, very few power points and no quiet areas in the lobby make it hard to like Hotel Hotel from a business traveller's point of view.
The food, too, tips over into earnestly hip; I can count the number of menus I've read in my life where not one thing was a) understandable or b) something I wanted to eat. Service waxed and waned between staff and shifts, too.
Beds are comfy and wifi is fast, and there is secure parking downstairs.
Maybe I'm too old (mid 40s) or not cool enough, but Hotel Hotel isn't for me.
H. A.
From the first moment I walked in the door I was impressed. The staff were attentive and helpful and the decor gave the hotel a very cool vibe.
The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable, and are something I would love my house to be like.
I highly recommend the hotel.
M. D. F.
This was by far the best hotel we've had in Australia so far.
The hotel itself is stunning and our room was phenomenal.
The service is outstanding and the food is great.
Cannot fault anything, we will definitely be back.
N.
Very interesting, modern artistic hotel that sets very high standards. Service was exceptional and the rooms were funky with very comfortable beds. Enjoyed a couple of cocktails that were very tasty
M. M.
An amazing hotel we had the cosy atrium room just perfect luxurious amazing food and fantastic service by well trained friendly staff....... Highly recommended

Hotel Hotel - THE place for people people! I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Hotel, and my experience was a remarkable one. Upon walking into the reception area (which carries through to Monster Kitchen & Bar) it is evident a lot of thought has gone into the overall concept of this hotel. Arriving at the front desk, I was greeted by Ebiyan from the concierge team. He took care of my bags, valet parked my car & was readily available to action any request throughout my stay. There was nothing this man couldn’t do for me-seriously good service.
After the pleasant & quick check in process I was directed to my room, which was nothing short of exceptional. I have attached some photos, but these do not do it justice. The bathroom, in particular the bath, was just amazing. The bed was so comfortable and the view of the interior private garden was lovely. The room layout was functional, with well-considered décor giving the space a luxurious feel. From a design point, the room could not be faulted. This excellent attention to detail was noted throughout the whole hotel, from the foyer, dining & bar space, right down to the room itself.
To the front office manager, Raven. Your individual attention to detail is world class. Thanks again to you & your team for a memorable experience. Nevermind ‘a place for people people’, hotel hotel is THE place for people people!
S. R.
This was a lovely place to stay while I attended my nephew's wedding in Canberra. Friendly staff. Great food and alcohol choices plus a cinema. Close to so many attractions. I would come back.
C. B.
A beautifully designed hotel. Stylish rooms that are comfortable and practical. The bathroom are supplied with Aesop products which are great. Food at the hotel is great too albeit a touch pricey, ie. $14 for three churros comes to mind. But would definitely stay there again. Well located too, there's plenty of other amenities over the road and close to the attractions that Canberra has to offer.
T. M.
The apartment was very comfortable with quality fittings and consumables. I realise that the MONSTER kitchen and bar within the hotel is not everyone's cup of tea as ***y of the ingredients are difficult to pronounce. Sorry we only have some organic cola which certainly did not taste right with scotch.
B. S.
Interesting multi purpose building.
Energy efficiency efforts keep everything in semi-darkness.
It's a combination hotel, apartments, and office space.
There is a cafe, lounge, and small restaurant. The food is ok and I found it uncomfortable that the staff dresses in grey uniform clothing that makes them appear like forced labor refugees from North Korea or Mao era China.
Overall, worth a visit just to experience it.
M. A.
Very cool, imaginative interiors, a delight to visit and discover. A great place for creative spirits to dwell and imagine, maybe even relax. A favourite.
M. P.
Wonderful modern design - but won't be to everybody's taste, with lots of bare concrete. Good location in New Acton. Large comfortable quiet rooms.
Be aware the hotel is only in the bottom two floors of the building so you won't get much of a view.
T. M.
The staff here are friendly and extremely accommodating. Loved the balcony with the view over the lake to Parliament House and watching the hot air balloons in the morning. Worth the money. Do yourself a favour and go for a visit you won't be disappointed but you will be amazed.
J. Y.
Eco friendly architecture. Very modern, clean, Japanese style rooms with a breathtaking view of Canberra because the air is literally a bit thin. I stayed here's for two nights and honestly it's the best sleep I've had all year.
R. R.
Unique hotel and a free minbar. The Nishi is not your ordinary hotel. Dimly lit to add to the atmosphere it is much more intimate than your average hotel. The staff were friendly and who wouldn't enjoy a free minibar. Stocked with a couple of beers, a small bottle of wine plus water and soft drinks it's hard not to be satisfied. A free "loot" bag was also supplied containing a few items such as nuts, grainwave chips & chocolate. Highly recommended.
T. V.
Fabulous piece of sculpture with an excellent air purifier. The collecting of the dust as it flows through the building is a brilliant idea 😉
T. H. B.
I had a fairly small room on the 2nd floor, but it was quite nice. There was a free swag bag of snacks in the room, and a yoga mat as well. I would have taken the yoga mat, but my luggage was full. There is no room-service available after 10pm, which made me sad.
B. M.
Great architecture (modern Japanese style) but seriously compromised by many of the rooms being unbearably dark even with all lights on. A bit more led lighting and this would be a great place to stay. Otherwise, I won't stay here again.
P. S.
Lots of energy, thought and money has gone into the design and touches in this hotel. (Which was great.) You’d think they'd put some thought into the background music. The music at breakfast was truly terrible. It was largely the worst of the 1980s. Turned up loud. First thing in the morning.
As the woman sitting next to me at breakfast said: “Wow, not really hipster is it”. It's amazing how music can either build or wreck the ambience of a place. My neighbour walked out, and then I did too. Come on Ovolo, there is music that goes with the sophisticated design of this place. So easy to fix but it lost you one star.
(Reckon it's an OH&S issue for the staff as well. It must drive them nuts.)
Speaking of the Ovolo Canberra staff: I had remarkably mixed experiences. Frankly I don't think Kirsty on the front desk likes her job. (She's not too happy about dealing with people.) Meanwhile the Duty Manager Kye was lovely and really helpful. She deserves a raise. She also saved the hotel from a 3 star review.
This place could be 5 star with a few simple fixes.
M. R.
Japanese decor is boss, amenities (gym, yoga, cafe etc.) are all great, mini fridge all included (cheers for the beers). Surrounding area is really funky too. Well worth the stay!
J. G.
Shared a drink with my daughter in the bar. Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff, and excellent decor. We played some Jenga and pick up sticks. Very relaxing.
D. M.
Bafflingly beautiful complex. The raw aesthetic make it feel so futuristic yet cozy, and while pricey, the bar and restaurant offer an amazing variety of food and bev. Very fun place to hang out with people, go on a date, or just to hit up for happy hour.
K. N. v.
Canberra has pockets of hidden treasures. This is one of them. It's got a cinema, I'm sure the hotel rooms are nice, and the restaurant does pretty good food. The artwork inside the hotel makes it standout. Great cool hotel.
M. O.
You can watch a movie here and grab a drink or a bite to eat, besides the building being ugly inside and out, at least the Staircase looks great and some residents might have a decent view.
M. M.
(For the bar area only) Really comfy seating, large space. Quiet both times I went there which is nice if you want somewhere to chat with company but can also make the place feel empty in terms of atmosphere.
D. L.
Very 'cliche hipster design; even bikes mounted on the walls... I think Melbourne in 2009 has caught on today in this hotel. There was no room in the restaurant for us (2 hotel guests), so we had to order room service; great food to be fair, although some was cold, (we were so hungry we didn't send back). Very loud restaurant, so if you like a party atmosphere, this is a hotel for you. It's not a private restaurant. Rooms are very small and as a result this doesn't get the self claimed 5 stars in my book. 3.5 would be far more accurate, especially once you have had brekky here, (busy busy). Parking was an absolute debacle. The carpark is shared with a cinema; go figure? Not 5 stars at all.
J. L.
Room is dark and not enough light. Not much space and not good if you need to work in the room. No door on shower so water will splash everywhere around bathroom and toilet. Overall. Service is good. Facilities, other than the above, are decent and comfortable.
S. F.
Absolutely amazing. I can now appreciate why Hotel Hotel is an international award winning Hotel. Design, styling and artisan touches are all brilliant. It's well worth the money or well worth paying a little extra to experience this Hotel and the NewActon precinct. A real credit to Canberra.
B. H.
An amazing hotel. Staff were so friendly. The room was incredible. Restaurant food was fantastic.
Can't say anything negative here, as it was perfect.
H. A.
It’s a beautiful hotel the rooms are lovely very well setup and beautifully furnitures.
The lobby and the bar area is amazing and very cosy.
The staff are friendly. The part that let them down which is more of a 3.5 stars not 3, Was the complimentary breakfast menu option. The complimentary breakfast is VERY VERY LIMITED in dietary options, essentially a dessert platter or a smoothie bowl.
They should have a small fruit platters, some hot food options, Perhaps some toast and condiments with eggs and bacon.
We have stayed at Ovolo a number of times in Sydney and now here in Canberra we love the hotel and hope that the management will pick up these issues and resolve them.
Thank you
T. M.
The reviews for this hotel really intrigued me and I got very excited about the thought of a stay in what I imagined to be ""alternative luxury. Our room was HUGE. In the hotel the shabby chic looks works, but in the room it feels unfinished with the bare cement walls and tacky looking chip wood panelled walls.
D. D.
The staff were extremely helpful with lots of information on what to see & do in Canberra
My room was fabulous very modern with a quirky well appointed bathroom
I really enjoyed my “goody” bag it was a nice welcome touch I also enjoyed the teas
H. R.
Always enjoy my stay at any Ovolo Hotel. Great to have free mini bar, a happy hour drink and breakfast included. Hotel is always such a pleasure for the eyes as well - very cool!
e.
Delicious food!! We were incredibly late to a reservation but they kept the table for us and were extremely accommodating, which was sweet. Be sure to pick up one of their desserts on the way out because the berry slice of heaven there ia absolutely amazing.
B. H.
Great value 2-3 course lunch menu ($28-$33pp). 3 starters, 3 mains and 2 desserts to pick from. We had all the starters and mains between us and all dishes very good.
S. H.
My Favorite place to stay in Canberra. Always warm, the architecture is stunning. The hotel restaurant is called Monster and has won best restaurant in the ACT a couple of years running. Staff cannot be more helpful, the amenities are beautiful and you can walk to the restaurant district. What more could you ask for!
K.
One of my faves spots in Canberra. Head downstairs to Makeshift, go to Cellar Door on the stairway on Saturdays to try some great local wines. See a film at Palace Electric or sit by one of the fires in Monster and have a cuppa and a share plate.
The staff are always helpful and there is always something to do.
F. M.
Awesome hotel, has a industrial feeling to it. Cool bar also and rooms although darker than most is definitely recommend as that's the theme it's going for
A. S.
Best hotel I’ve ever stayed at.
Beware the breakfast buffet though. If it’s included, happy days. If it’s not, it’s $26pp and it’s a pretty limited and basic array of breakfast choices.
M. F.
Want an experience ..good food and service then visit here
I. E.
This was the nicest hotel room i have ever stayed in. I absolutely loved the bath. Its a great hotel, absolutely awesome for sleeping (its very dark). It was very quiet too.
R. J.
The hotel is great, very new age. Great foyer. In my room I had free mini bar, dimmer LED lights apple TV and an iPad, lots of nerdy goodness! I stayed with a group and while I had an excellent time, most rooms were far less than mine.
J. F.
My favourite hotel in Australia. The design is truly remarkable and deserves more credit. The staff were excellent t as well. We will be back.

Did not disappoint - beautiful design hotel
Was actually staying in Canberra with friends but had read about Hotel Hotel in a design magazine in my travels so decided to visit. Totally loved the chilled out/ integrated lobby and "common areas". Very different experience to most hotels. And the wine selection was awesome and uber easy to use WiFi. Would recommend for a pre-cinema wine or meal which we did a couple of times during my stay.
M. H.
Strangely designed, quite small apartments, interleaved amongst owner occupied apartments. Better than a lot of accommodation options in Canberra, but not somewhere I'd rush back to. Restaurants within easy walking distance are all on the pricey side (although some serve excellent food).
A. V.
Purpose of my visit was coffee and there are several great options to choose from. We opted for the Monster Cafe lounge area and the coffee was great. The staff service is efficient yet not obtrusive and the surroundings are pleasing.
B. S. (.
Beautiful building! The fit out is amazing. It feels like a maze with a new amazing discovery waiting just around the corner.
Definitely not a real family or kid style destination.
But for an escape from the world it is perfect.
d.
Very nice, very different hotel. We stayed on our wedding night. The staff were fantastically accomodating. The room was interesting, art nouveau with a fabulous bed and enormous bath and no expense spared amenities.
T. N.
We enjoyed our stay here. And all the staff were lovely. Only thing is that its a little out of the city centre than we would of liked.
W. F.
Great hotel and likely be where I stay every time I visit Canberra. Only one complaint being a constant drilling sound coming through the ceilings. Excellent food from the restaurant downstairs available for room service too!!
p.
Great experience! Definitely recommend stating here, super friendly staff. Will be coming back for sure
T. M.
I have just stayed for 4 nights in this hotel on business. There seems to be a lot to do nearby. We always had transport willingly available to us from the resort. We were not made to feel welcome by the staff at breakfast or lunch sittings. We would be happy to return.
P.
Exceptional hotel room, the hotel room has a powerful shower with Aesop products. Very large shower space is amazing. Friendly front desk girl called India. King size bed. Couldn't ask for a better experience.
J. K.
Amazingly up-scale hotel with friendly staff and impressive niche rooms. Amenities are delightfully complimentary and the food is fantastic. Great service, great stay.
P. H.
Stayed here for the NSW Labour Day long weekend, and loved every minute and every detail. Friendly staff are all masked up and practising Covid safety throughout, while continuing to offer Ovolo's famous perks. Their free Social Hour is still on but at spatially distant tables, and the free continental breakfast buffet has been replaced by an inventive and colourful breakfast salad plate with pastry and coffee. Rooms ooze dark, moody, modern charm, with walls of raw concrete, particle board, and cork. Get a water-view room for splendid views of the basin and Government House.
K. H.
Fantastic place to stay. Exo friendly building with sweeping views of the lake and Black Mountain. Easy access to some great restaurants and bars nearby.
T. M.
The location of the resort is very quiet and peaceful. Hotel Hotel is in a hip and happening part of Canberra with extensive restaurant options. The room numbers on the allocated car park are all over the place and dont follow any order so we couldnt find the carpark space.
H. J.
Trying to be trendy, design over function doesn't work.
Too dark, impractical and confusing. The service at restaurant is also very average. A service culture needs to trained here. Lipstick on a pig really.
Food was tasty for dinner though a good mix of morrocan and bar style foods. Just was let down by the ordinary service.
E. R.
Really cool hotel. I like the Eco friendly aspects and the decor. Next time I am in Canberra I will stay there again. Try do the yoga in the art gallery if you can.
J. G.
Excellent service - it all started with the professional warm welcome and clear instructions at the check in desk. Super comfortable, modern, clean and great service.
M. S.
This is a really nice hotel that's great price to value, with a very rustic and unique build out. It's more than sufficient if you are very busy and won't be there much. The in-house resto, Monster is good, but a little pricey for what you get in return. I had a canned beer and tiny spaghetti for lunch= $36. That's a bit over the top for a non meat, lunch special.
The hotel's slogan is "A place for people people" and nothing could be further from the truth. I have been staying in the residences since NOVEMBER (Jan22 now) and only TWO people have ever said hello or greeted me on the way in or out. Granted I'm not a hotel guest, but I'm staying in the hotel. After 2mo of seeing the same face, you'll know someone, even if by accident. I thought hotel's were in the HOSPITALITY business?? This country has the worst service I've seen on average. No matter where you go hospo people are aloof, disinterested and doing the bare minimum.
That being said, if you're looking for just a bed, you're in good hands. If you're looking for these "people people"- as the place touts- you're gonna be "stitched up" as the Aussies put it
K.

I love books and loved that there was an eclectic selection of books to browse through in the studio apartment I stayed in. The bathrooms were a good sizereminiscent of the change rooms at Elixir Health club in Bondi junction especially with the Aesop products bolted down. Would definitely recommend.
J. C.
Loved everything about our stay, comfortable bed, great shower, very helpful staff. Food was very good, all the perks were great too.
J. C.
Cool rooms and amazing foyer area that had wine tastings and local produce for sale. The only downside is I accidentally left my tag watch in the room when checking out and rang 1hr later and it was nowhere to be found .....great hotel otherwise
A. N.
Great location, amazing food and cafe environment, great for a meeting or just getting work done. The only drawback is the room sizes and brightness of the rooms facing the "courtyard". If you stay on lvl 1 courtyard facing rooms it feels like a bunker.
A. M.
The whole place is too dark to see, including the lobby and check-in area, the lifts are uncharacteristically dark and therefore a hazard, the stairs leading to the 'cinema st' are poorly lit and the edges not easily defined, an emergency exit plan was not visible inside our room. These might be "creating the vibe" as the staff say, but as a customer I say "not a safe place to be".
E. G.
I want to move in! Hotel Hotel nails it on every level. The design is stunning and quirky but still manages to create a home-like atmosphere, the service is top notch and the food is scrumptious. Please please can I live there!
M. S.
Not only does the Nishi building house the Palace cinema, it is an energy efficient building with vertical garden draping down the floors. It has a restaurant and bar called the Monster Kitchen and bar. Stairway, is made from recycled timber.
A. S.
This is am awesome little place. It is decked our with heaps of art and it seems like everyone who works there is young and enthusiastic and nice. The room was really Cool - the light switches are comically hard to understand and there wasn't any movies but it was still a 5 because everything else was great.
R. F.
It's always nice to be recognized as a returning guest. The Hotel Hotel went of their way to welcome me back. The vibe is always funky and the rooms are great, especially the Aesop products.
R. W.
No air-con in the apartment(eco-friendly), fan only. Nature lover appreciates it. Have to say the room is better than QT and the Peppers. But food in Monster kitchen not as good as it was ( 2 years ago). I would go Parlour for dinner.
J. F.
My favourite hotel in Australia. The design is truly remarkable and deserves more credit. The staff were excellent t as well. We will be back.
D. B.
We stayed there on a staycation here in Canberra recently. Check in was great, room was nice, we paid a little more for a larger room. Not cheap compared to other hotels but overall a fun stay.
T. M.
The location was perfect for getting just about anywhere. City centre, national museum and some restaurants are within walking distance. All in all a good hotel in a good location with great transport connections. Ultimately, you get what you pay for. I look forward to returning in the not so distant future.
M. C.
Hotel Hotel is really really cool.
Hotel Hotel is located in the recently completed Nishi Building in the New Acton area of central Canberra. The Nishi Building is a faceted jewel of a brutalist concrete tower, one half hotel and apartments, and the other half an energy efficient office building. Its bare concrete aesthetic is softened by the liberal use of timber. The grand stair is an amazing work of art created from thousands of pieces of reclaimed timber from the construction process. Even if you don't stay at Hotel Hotel, it is worth dropping in to experience the building itself.
The whole New Acton precinct is worth a visit, with galleries, trendy cafes, restaurants and bars to explore. A. Baker (a bakery/café/restaurant) just across the road from the hotel is a definite highlight. The Palace Electric cinema is located under the hotel and screens a range of popular and art house films.
The hotel rooms are individually decorated with restored vintage furniture and range in size from "cosy" to "meandering". We stayed in a cosy room, and while not massive, I have stayed in much smaller hotel rooms. The room and especially the bathroom exuded modern luxury. We found the hotel staff to be friendly and helpful.
I enjoyed my experience at Hotel Hotel and will be back.
G. W.
If I could give 10 stars I would! We have stayed at many hotels throughout the world and this is the best..
R. A.
Great hotel, with a nice vibe. Rooms abit dark but free mini bar is a bonus !
C. S.
Definitely recommended for travellers who come to Canberra for the first time. Good location for shopping, fantastic view, nice room service and of course very beautiful interior design. Ideal choice for most tourists.
S. T.
On the highside. Stayed here two years ago and recently revisited. The ground floor cinema side is still untidy and rather messy. The stairwell feature still has a cool factor but the balance of that area lets the overall vibe down. Perhaps a small bar would work for the vacant space?
J. Y.
Ovolo Nishi provide very good value. We stayed in one of their Creative Sun rooms and it has alot: premium channels, iPad, free wifi (that all 6 devices could connect to), free mini bar (and refills), and even an Alexa that we played with! Their service is good and the staff are friendly. Though they do get busy at peak times (understandably). Hope this ovolo experience is consistent throughout as we're staying at another soon! Thanks Ovolo team, and Ovolo did love us during our stay!
R.
It's more of an experience than a hotel. As someone mentioned earlier, every nook every corner of this place has something unique, antique or specially commissioned. If you like boutique quirky hotels, you will love it.
M. S. Z.
A 5-minute walk from the closest bus stop, this stylish hotel with a plant-filled atrium is 4 km from the monumental Parliament House and 3 km from the National Gallery of Australia.
Offering city or atrium views, eco-chic rooms feature natural materials and restored furnishings. All provide smart TVs, free Wi-Fi and minibars, plus iPads. Upgraded rooms have sitting areas; some add soaking tubs. Sleek studios with wall beds, and 1- to 3-bedroom apartments, add kitchens, washer/dryers, and balconies or glass-enclosed terraces.
Perks include free breakfast and evening socials. There's a hip eatery and a bar, plus a gallery and a 24-hour gym.
E. G.
Cosy and warm atmosphere. Perfect to enjoy a nice cocktail next to the fire place or a delicious dinner. The food is to die for! I would recommend to book a table - it's usually busy!

This place is architecturally innovative and has a nice restaurant (Monster Kitchen), new movie theatre (Palace cinemas) and swanky hotel, of course. Parking can be difficult if toy don't want to pay for the garage, but there are more spots closer to the QT hotel a block away.
V. W.
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The rooms are excellent, decently priced and clean. The staff are all friendly and helpful.
I loved everything!
R. W.
Fantastic hotel! Only stayed one night for work reasons and this was such a great place to chill and relax at the end of the day. Staff were wonderful
I. E.
This was the nicest hotel room i have ever stayed in. I absolutely loved the bath. Its a great hotel, absolutely awesome for sleeping (its very dark). It was very quiet too.
S. S.
Great hotel! Stayed prior to it being taken over by ovolo as well. It’s still a great hotel! Favourite in Canberra
L. L.
Excellent hotel and you'd struggle to find a better one in Canberra. Formerly Hotel Hotel and now rebranded as an Ovolo. Very confusing online and also when speaking to taxis. There is only one! Great anyway and the brekkie is fantastic (if a little inconsistent in terms of how they offer replacements for the complimentary continental brekkie). Picture is of the granola.
T. F.
Great design. Friendly staff. Good cocktails and coffee from the bar. Free parking for guests would be a plus. Room was very dark.
C. P.
Beautiful place - warm & cosy. Loved the overuse of timber. We didn't want to leave!
A. S.
Best hotel I’ve ever stayed at.
Beware the breakfast buffet though. If it’s included, happy days. If it’s not, it’s $26pp and it’s a pretty limited and basic array of breakfast choices.
C. E.
Really nice hotel and apartments. Very modern and in a pretty good location in Canberra. This would be my go to hotel if I was in Canberra regularly enough but stayed in but the hotel and apartments and both are really good.
D. K.
Hotel Hotel challenges the sterile standardization of hotel construction and decor around the world (think opposite any major chain you've ever stayed at.) You're equally likely to rub elbows with chic design fanatics as you are the Parliamentarian crowd when the session is in. The rooms are a master's class in modernism; in this hotel texture is King. Deep-grained wood beams, smooth poured concrete, fibers and textiles unknown - even the room key is honed from alternative materials. The design throughout seems to reject the notion that a capital city must be drab and dull - and begs curious travels to come to Canberra, if only to spend a night in between the pages of this art book.

Gorgeous hotel to stay in Canberra. Brilliant building design and really convenient to get food from downstairs. Friendly staff with helpful service.
T. R.
Bar and restaurant really good with attractive menu items. Share plates while a bit pricey were delicious. A great choice for a bit of a fancy dining experience in Canberra
T. G.
Just did a wine tasting downstairs. I did not actually stay or go into the hotel. But have heard very nice things about from those who have.
N. Y.
Had a fabulous stay at Ovolo, these guys really know how to go above and beyond....a room upgrade, special touches for my birthday and amazing breakfast....awesome!!!
C. S.
Love the interior design and the vibe! The Receptionist Jing’s service is excellent, gave us so much help! Will visit again!!
G. W.
Great place to sit and drink coffee. Brilliant use of the space to encompass a place to meet, a hotel lobby and good food and drink. Such a nice comfortable space to enjoy and people watch.
J. C.
Beautiful in every detail. Lovely staff. Great attention to detail. Right down to the curated selection of cut fruit I received for breakfast when I asked simply for "a piece of fruit". Wow.
B. I.
Cool vibes emanate from this Hotel. Loved the round open fire in the restaurant.
J. B.
Look a bit too trendy for us, everything is low lit, nice rooms, but no view
T. “. D. D. A.
The industrial style rooms are out of this world!!! We had a view of Lake Burley Griffin too. Expensive but worth it 😊🥰🤩🤑
N. a. S.
Great place, great service, amazing rooms. Price is quiet expensive but you definitely get what you paid for. I always stay here and ask for a room facing the lake, the view is on another level.
R. P.
Incredible! Amazing spaces and the best hotel experience I've ever had 🤩 Just wonderful
S. m.
had to make a detour to canberra but hotel hotel made it sooo much better to bear. beautiful architecture (in love with the plants and design concept), very clean, relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, hotel food was also delicious. nothing to pick on.
a.
A beautiful boutique hotel for a nice weekend away. Great amenities within the room, we stayed in The Creative Sun room. Loved the complimentary goodies.
K. B.
We enjoyed our stay there. Staff were accommodating and looked after us.
D. D.
Good rooms, very tasty menu, small but very interesting wine list including a very good by the glass selection in terms of unusual choices appealing to wine wankers like me 😁🍷🍷
N. L.
Good design everywhere but the rooms slightlt run down - carpet a little old and the sink is slow. The lobby area and amenities top notch.
I. C.
Customer service was fantastic. Ambience and venue was great. Food was a bit too fancy for some of the gguest and could have been better presented. It was definitely delicious though!
N. Z.
Hotel was beautiful! The food at monster was nice but felt like it wanted to be to fancy, when sometimes simple is best! Overall, nice experiance.
A. T.
Funky, cool hotel. Fabulous architectural features, thoughtful inclusions. Canberra is really looking up! The whole precinct has a great feel to it.
T. L.
Beautiful place, simple but also high tech. Perhaps a bit too high tech though.. took me a while to work out how to call reception!
J. L.
Really enjoyed staying here. We stayed in a 2 bedder apartment and couldn’t be happier.
A. F.
Love this hotel. Amazing attention to detail from the muted lighting to wood finishes to Aesop in the bathroom. Also cool lobby bar/ café.
E. R.
Comfortable stay, friendly staff. However, wasn't as amazing as I'd expect for the price point, the only difference I noticed between this hotel and others with a lower price is the decor.
M. B.
Very interesting amazing property with big green initiatives in place.... Parking is not free however and very difficult to get a spot during weekday business hours..... We had a booking with a king size bed and well I'm sure it's only a double unfortunately.... Other than that we are extremely happy with the room and hotel
P. B.
Nice place got a touch of sophistication and ambience, a stroll to lake Burley Griffin, it also has a hotel. Reasonably priced
I. G.
Love this place. Have stayed as a guest and last visit shared tapas plates. A bit pricey but yummy. Love the way the place is built to be ecofriendly.
S. C.
Nice Hotel, staff nice, cool vibe, bathroom was great and beautiful Aesop amenities. Very dark in halls, rooms etc, can feel a little bleak at times, service good.
C. A.
The waitress was so lovely, they made me a drink that wasn't on their menu. The atmosphere was amazing. I really enjoyed myself
H. S.
Funky modern hotel offering wonderfully spacious appartments with great views of the lake and hinterland. Service is mixed as is the food at Monster restaurant.
C. C.
Good location, very nicely decorated rooms, good service.
S. P.
Great menu - variety, size of dishes, flavours and excellent service. Relaxed interesting environment. Must try when in Canberra.
S. B.
Great bar and entrance. Has a large fireplace that adds atmosphere. It has a beautiful wooden entrance staircase to the hotel.
G. K.
Room was good, service at the bar was terrible. Had to get up and get cocktail menu myself. Had to go and call waiter myself. No one came around for us to order second round of drinks so we moved on.
S. S.
Bed was very comfortable. The pillows were very good. The cocktails were delicious. Aesop products used in room
B. C.
Very good place to stay, beautiful furnished room , restaurant and lobby, friendly waiter. near ANU and parliament house. One thing to concern is the extremely narrow parking porch at the front gate.
C.
Staff are so friendly. Food is great. Architecture is amazing. I recommend Hotel hotel, feels like Melbourne in Canberra.
P. K.
Went to Monster for lunch - awesome food! Can't wait to stay at the hotel!
R. P.
The only down fall was it's right near highway so noise with car traffic. Beautiful hotel I would like to recommend more dining menu options
P. M.
AMAZING!!
Free mini bar, goodies galore, beautiful rooms, helpful staff, incredible breakfast, WOW dinner.
Loved loved loved.
C. S.
Everything I could want from a weekender apartment! Delightfully curated spaces, clean, comfortable, with breezy views of Lake Burley Griffin. Delicious cafes within walking distance, farmer's market AT the hotel on Saturdays- surprised and delighted. Will be coming back
B. W.
Everything is exceptional and I love the design of the hotel, the only thing bad was that it is very hard to turn the lights off and I had to turn the power off for the whole room eventually but all else was brilliant
L. H.
dark elevator, a cozy place to stay. Note that the area might be dusty even after a proper cleaning due to located next to Parkes Way and in high wind.
J. J.
Absolutely a beautiful hotel and food experience 👍 the only down side is the new music 🎶 please bring back music from hotel hotel days as it suits the art precinct and style of the design and all levels of the experience ❤️Bring back great music !!!!!
A. L.
Clean, cosy, and stylish place to stay. Staff is friendly and offering is great.
m. h.
Individually styled rooms. Friendly staff, amazing food, unique decor, not seen another hotel like it, stunning staircase and amazing use of recycled materials.
S. H.
a few minor issues did not detract from the overall great satisfaction of staying at a super kool, aesthetically supreme and awesomely unique hotel with friendly staff.
B. S.
Good services available, very helpful staff. Good location to have formal events. Unfortunately dinner while delicious, portion sizes should have been bigger.
T. L.
Beautiful rooms, great food, really good use of design. Good service. Lovely view over lake.
F. B.
Most beautiful building in Canberra,I desperately want to work here
T. F. &. D.
Great hotel, amazing service & outstanding drinks 10/10 👏
M. W.
One of the best hotel I have stayed in Australia. Famous for its design by the designer who has designed the Water Cube in Beijing.
M. M.
Lovely decor, nice rooms, complimentary snack in the rooms, good restaurant. Be prepared to add $50.00 parking to the price of the room.
L. D.
Arty hotel in central Canberra. Great on-site restaurant. Go for a sunlight room for space. Recently changed to Ovolo. Hopefully it will keep up its standards.
K. S.
Beautiful eco friendly apartment , lovely views and handy bar downstairs
W. L.
Room amenities were top notch. Eateries not far walk. The cupping room also located nearby. Easy to contact for enquiries.
A.
Loved that it was artsy + modern with a touch of retro~ went there for our anniversary and loved the hotel room we stayed at with a natural stone bath. Will come back again.
D. F.
Nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. Check out was super quick, like 15 seconds and you're out the door quick. Free minibar and breakfast included!
A. S.
We checked out the rooms and they were pretty good. Not too cheesy. And the apartment side was very spacious.
J. v. d. M.
Central and beautifully appointed. The in-house personal care products are wonderful. Staff were a pleasure to deal with.
Y.
Hotel Hotel is a lovely place. Staff are really nice and they treated my wife and I beautifully on our honeymoon. Will be back. :)
A. B.
very 'trendy' ... rooms a bit too dark otherwise great!! Good Food! Nice staff.

This place is amazing, like incredible art and vibe and food and drinks and EVERYTHING! you can't go wrong with a stay at Hotel Hotel.
T. B.
The people are awesome. The rooms are nice. The location is phenomenal to where you can walk to many places!
S. L.
Beautiful hotel with incredible decor and friendly and helpful staff. Who can complain about a hotel that provides Aesop toiletries, linen dressing gowns and an alpaca blanket?
M. W.
Really nice building and really nice people. Love the cinema too 🤗
V. V.
Great food, service doesn't match. The hotel rooms are nice, but quite small.
J. C.

S. A.
Awesome food - truely amazing food and excellent service.
W. A.
I like the Hotel Hotel for a coffee or breakfast or lunch, especially in winter when you can enjoy the fire in the lobby. It's also an interesting area to walk about.
C. H.
Great place to stay, every room is different so you have something to look forward to if you stay more than once
J. F.
Pricey but great food - dish sizes could be a bit more generous - all in all a cool experience

J. A.
Amazing hotel. They've kept it together during COVID so huge thank you

It's like a hotel meets art gallery. All the textures and art and the fireplace make it a cozy and interesting place to relax and hang out after a long day.
M. G.

M. A.
Great friendly service, restaurant good enough for clients, quirky interesting atmosphere, many kate nights around the fire
T. D.
It has like 15 storeys built in a beehive design, quite a unique architectural work.
T. P.
Room was excellent, great quality toiletries in the bathroom, bedding was extremely comfortable.
A. V.
Super cool place to stay. The fit out gives the place a welcoming yet intriuging ambience.
S. K.
Very good food and atmosphere, waiter did however make a mistake with our order, but gave us the mistaken dish on the house, so redeemed themselves in this respect.

C. J.
Very unique architecture design, very clean and great location. Love the stay and will go back
T. D.
This is my favourite ACT accommodation. Beautiful rooms, perfect service, great ammenities and location.
T. j.
A bit pricey but great food and the fire pit provides welcome warmth for the cold winter mornings.
R. C.
Go for the great hotel rooms, don't go for the lazy aloofness of the restaurant staff that they seem to think is necessary to fulfill a stereotypical simulation of an urban hipster from a capital city. Head out for dinner haha
D. P.
This is what a hotel should be. Impeccable service without being overbearing and right in the heart of Canberra. Highly recommended.
S. C.
Hotel hotel has a pretty cool fitout.. good service food was ok. Very central and easy to access.
