Was sent away twice in checking in because room wasn't clean to be able to check in. We were offered coffee while waiting but never received anything. 1.5 hrs after check in time we were finally checked in. Nothing said or done to apologize for the great delay.

The staff are lovely and friendly hard working. The furniture needs updating very scatched and outdated. Tv has no Netflix or movie choices just free to air . Bed was comfortable and bathroom nice. Spa was not working and had no water in. Was very budget motel rooms dissatisfied for $300 a night for two people. Food in restaurant was nice but over priced steaks $56 up. Not family friendly prices. Restaurant area very nice environment. No bar fridge as advertised two small tea up no saucers as I said very low budget room. Breakfast was cold and no choice in eggs just scrambled disappointing again for price. Very disappointed as this was a treat for my mother who is elderly with chronic health conditions. Not even basics supplied

Our family just finished our stay and it was great. Beds were comfortable and the room was spacious. Food from the restaurant downstairs was great and reasonably priced. Staff were helpful with us having to end our stay early due to an emergency and gave us a refund on a night which was unexpected but definitely appreciated. We will return anytime we visit the ACT.

Stayed 5-7 Nov 2021, paid $164 per night for twin room due to a temporary promotion. 2 adults, 2 children under 5. Really enjoyed our stay. Hotel was very clean. Great value, really comfortable, enjoyed breakfast and dinner (which was particularly good), used the pool, all staff very helpful and friendly. Location good. The only thing that didn't work well was the tv, but not what we were there for. Would happily return and recommend.

Well located and comfortable. Out of peak time it is excellent value. Restaurant was closed but great options just down the road in Manuka shopping precinct.

Nice place to be in. It was a short period for me. 24/7 reception available. On drawback was the air-conditioning fan sounds which remained even when I switched off.

Have used Rydges Canberra regularly over the years and remember her in her heyday. Showing her age and needs a refurb. Stayed in room 286. Caulking peeling away in shower. Ceiling access cover damaged/incorrectly fitted. Ceramic bowl in kitchenette chipped and dirty. Paint chipping in many places on doors. Carpet needs steam cleaning. The conference and venue rooms on level 2 a bit too close and if you were a light sleeper the noise could be problematic. Food and drink to their usual great standard. Staff friendly and courteous as always. Will be back but hope she gets a facelift soon.

It is a great place to stay, great service, clean, love the architecture and the internal semi-public spaces. Great food but not dinner on Sundays nights.

The room itself was fine though, what I find odd is the inconsistancy of tech i the rooms. Some of the rooms have a modern TV but some of the rooms have a 8 year old TV!
The staff at the Reception was kind and welcoming but the staff at the restaurant seem a bit less welcoming (still fine though, maybe just having a bad day). The food at the restaurant was fine but a bit pricey (by not that much probably $8 more than a restaurant around the area)
We were supposed to have a "membership discount" but the person at the register said that we needed to go to the reseptionist to sort that out, but the person at the reseptionist said the same thing!
Ignoring those hiccups, overall it was a very nice experience everytime we've visited, nice neighbourhood, good rooms, kind staff, and many more! Would definetly recommend staying here!

We stayed at Rydges Friday and Saturday night last weekend. On check in we were given an upgrade to the dominion suite it was huge and so helpful as we were getting ready for my wedding on Saturday morning. I also am so grateful to Rydges events coordinator for helping us Saturday morning with our last minute ceremony venue change with them able to provide us with there function room it was perfect. As much as I want to give 5 stars there's just a few things about the dominion suite itself that was a downer, the lighting in there isn't the best there was also a blown light bulb, but the thing the most upsetting was actually the shower, there's no ventilation fans in the bathroom but also very poor drainage as the shower is one with no door with a lip to stop water flowing Into the bathroom it just doesn't work. The drain hole is too small and so is the lip. So when the shower is running the shower floor floods and leaks into the rest of the bathroom.
Besides the shower and lights our stay was fantastic and I can't thank the events coordinator enough for helping make our wedding perfect and rain free

Loved it clean sheets n towels, excessive toiletries, cooling rooms, free wifi, secured underground parking, nice breakfast and great customer service, see for yourself

Love staying here. Rooms are light, spacious and quiet but its disappointing that you have to pay an additional $15 a night to park your car
M. N.
Highly recommend for getting ready for all my brides. Saying that we waited for a chair that never came :-(
Other wise great location for brides to get ready will still recommend to my brides.

Room were decent, clean nothing spectacular, the TV not so much, nothing other than free TV. , also needed toothpaste in your selection of bathroom amenities. The Georges dinner selection was all that and for $40 budget per night the selection wasn't that great. Brekkie was standard fare. Most staff was helpful. Cleaning crew was great. I think the change restaurant could use an overhaul. Nice lounge though.

Good pool, good breakfast, nice staff, secure parking (spots are narrow), bed comfy & linen clean but not too starched, good location.

We booked an Embassy Suite on the third floor for a 2 night stay with our toddler and baby. The living space was spacious but very out dated. It came with two sofa bed couches which were very worn-looking. The king bed was very comfortable and the bathroom looked modern and renovated.
We visited the bar downstairs and found the surrounds very pleasant but we spent much of our time in line waiting to order our drinks.
Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating and the hotel was in a good location!
B. M.
very disappointed with our stay. paid premium for honeymoon suite 376. the room layout was odd to say the least. old and tatty sofa bed and matching filthy bucket seat. coffee table askew. cobwebs around the windows and skylight. air vents extremely dusty. bugs in the light fittings. finger prints on the door, desk and tv. no usb ports in the room and a cheap power adapter sitting on the desk. no dining set to sit at. QR codes for menus and hotel info either did not work or lacked actual info. Instant coffee and tea. with a cheap jug. long life milk pods in noisy bar fridge and not even a bottle of water. Spa bath had rusty pipes and distributed a lovey brown concoction to bath in. no way enough room for two. parking was $15 extra per night. Iron and ironing board were filthy. check in staff was helpful enough. check out staff did not bother to ask about our stay. would have to say with the available accommodation around the city. Definitely by pass this one.

The Hotel is ok. Rooms are good but missing basic things like a modern TV. The telly is almost 15 years old and takes 15 seconds to change channel. Massively understaffed. No one answering phones. We had to chase the cleaners to clean the rooms.
J.
They have obviously facelifted an older hotel. They foyer is nice but in the room there are reminders of the age of the building. Some of the furniture was even showing signs of wear. Beds were comfy. Breakfast was not bad. The pictures on the internet are really not the best representation of the hotel a little misguided I feel.

Stayed in this hotel in the exact same room (there is only one of its type) around 5-6 years ago. It was dated then, even more so now and very well used.
The bathroom renovation is nice and looks good. But...Shower doesn't drain though as the tiles are not sloped so you end up standing in a pool of cold water that laps the edge. If it overflowed it would go straight out to the bedroom/wardrobe area as the ground slopes down that way instead of into the bathroom as well.
Rest of room is in dire need of upgrade/renovation/new furniture. Lounge area has one modern couch and four of a much older style. They don't match (one is velvety dark grey and the others were golden yellow tweed) and look like a bit of an afterthought. Other wooden furniture is very early 90s. The coffee table had damage and looked really tacky. There was a random cabinet on the other side of the dining table that Im not sure what you would use it for, right in front of it was a huge mark and carpet missing.
The carpet in the bedroom had stains between the bed and tv.
There were spider webs on inside of bedroom windows. Soon as we opened the curtains you could see.
Bedroom lighting is very dull and hard to see at night in your suitcase. I couldn't find my clothes on the first night.
Wardrobe area has hair dryer, iron and board. No dressing gowns like other hotel suites we have stayed in. This would be a good addition and especially for the usual price charged.
No room servicing. Expected a change of towels and refreshing of the other items (shower gel etc). We left tag on door when we left at 830am, returned after 4pm to find room not touched (no change of towels etc).
Kitchen has a fan on 24/7 you can't turn off and have to close the two doors to try block it, but still hear it.
Breakfast finishes same time every day. No late option like other hotels on weekends so we missed it by 2 minutes.
The changes to the dining and bar are really good and make for a lovely atmosphere to have a drink.
Overall, wouldn't stay again unless it was an insanely low rate.Show less

This hotel is more than an upscale GHA Hotel. The reception staff was very nice and courteous. All GHA benefits were honoured. The only annoying thing was the light, which can't be turned off unless you block the sensor. Will come back next time.

Whenever I arrive at Rydges Canberra, It feels like I’m returning home. Awesome ambience, fantastic staff and a breakfast worth snapping. I usually order the Eggs Benny, but tried the George Breakfast yesterday - wow.
s.
Lovely hotel, nice and central. Super comfy beds and great service...the one thing that needs attention is clearance signage in the undercover parking. There needs to be a sign at the entrance with the clearance of the lower roof within the carpark itself as you need to be under that height to use the carpark exit. We had to be let out of the entrance gate by reception as we wouldn't fit under the roof to get out the exit.

My husband and I enjoyed a short break. We had a fabulous few days and could not fault the staff and service given from all members. The rooms were lovely and we faced into the centre. We enjoyed a few meals there no complaints fresh and again accomdating when we decided to share. We will be back again.

I had to be in Canberra for a fortnight and decided to do it here rather than at an airbnb or other hotel. What a great choice it turned out to be! The rooms have everything you'd expect from a 4 star hotel and none of the annoyances eg. there is a mini-fridge and it isn't stocked with a mini-bar, so you can use it! The bed is very comfortable and there are a range of different pillows - important if you have a bad neck. The bathroom is simple and well designed. The other facilities at the hotel are also great - relatively secure parking, a wonderful foyer and atrium with a bar, a nice pool-spa-gym area. And to top it off the staff have been highly competent (not always something you can assume these days) and very hospitable. I will stay again!
J. F.
Room let down by inadequate reading lights. With new technology available this is inexcusable
N. I.
Very clean, comfortable hotel located in the centre of Canberra.
D. O.
Could be so much better. If management put some thought into the place it would have so much potential. Unfortunately, everything is done on the cheap except external appearances and your paying a lot of money for a hotel, external appearances excepted, in much better than a roadside motel.
C.
Spacious and calm hotel. Very limited evening menu that could do with a few more healthy options. Brekkie was excellent. No bedside table on one side and no re-charging ports. Good parking.
C. J.
Nice hotel for the price. Conventionally located, lobby and restaurant area really nice. Friendly helpful staff. Just try to get a room that faces out rather than into the atrium.
J. c.
Check in staff was amazing and friendly. The common area and reception looks great- very modern. However the rooms are very tired and urgent need a renovation. The inhouse phones don't work as an example.
L. M.
I believe there has been a refurbishment completed recently & it looks great.
The breakfast service was great & the staff friendly & helpful.
It has many areas to sit (the chairs were very comfortable) & have coffee with a friend or for that informal business meeting.
I'll certainly be visiting again.
P. M.
Comfy beds, close to the vinicity of the city of Canberra.
Rydges has their own indoor pool, sauna and gym.
There is parking available onsite for $15 per night. If you didn't want to pay the fee, street parking is also available and is pretty close.

We stayed at Rydges Canberra a few years ago when visiting family and loved our stay, we rebooked for another family visit just last weekend not knowing that the hotel had just reopened after massive renovations. Wow! We were blown away with the atmosphere! We made dinner reservations in their new bar - delicious tuna tartare & the prime rib roll was the best thing I’ve ever eaten (I’m still thinking about it). Service was amazing in every area of the hotel. Everyone was so friendly and happy. We might have to visit family more often to stay here!
J. L.
Pleasant & attentive staff. However, not enough of them! Clean good size bathroom. Great water pressure.
Miserable milk & tea allocation in room.
Good sized pool.
A. J.
The positives at this hotel was the highly efficient housekeeping. We left our room late in the morning a couple of times and housekeeping still made sure our room was serviced. The happy hour at the hotel bar was great, we met some nice people over a couple of games of pool. When they get an opportunity the hotel needs to think about fixing or renewing the spa and making sure their in-room snacks are within their use by dates.

Rydges wonderful place to stay walking distance to Parliament House/s, National Art Gallery, Questron and many local restaurants. Rooms are large and clean. Staff friendly and helpful.

I went to this hotel with my family and it was so awesome. The staff were very friendly and the room was so clean. I really enjoyed staying here on my Canberra trip and I would like to suggest to everyone that this is an incredible hotel.
T. T.
Service: very friendly, quick and easy check-on. Asked for additional toothbrush and was given immediately.
Room: my room was 104, on the same floor with the reception near the end of the building on ground floor. Even though it was on the ground floor and was facing the street, it was fairly quiet. Bed was very springy and bouncy - not my kind of bed. Pillows selections were not overly excited and if you’re very particular, make sure you ask for new puffier pillow. Room was relatively clean and reasonably sized. Bathroom was also clean and looked like recently renovated. One thing, if you’re showering with full blown shower, it could wet the bathroom floor a little bit near the toilet
Breakfast: it was okay, selections were quite limited - cereals, savouries selections like bacon eggs etc, and pastries and bread, wouldn’t pay extra to include as there are plenty of nice places in Canberra.

Actually was a pleasant stay, had all the right facilities and especially liked the location. Good size pool and spa. Gym had a variety of equipment and not just treadmills or usual stuff. Food was good and reasonably priced. On site laundry was helpful. Lots of space and plants everywhere which makes it refreshing. Thought it was good value.

Stayed here for 5 nights, it was quite nice experience. The front desk staffs are friendly with patient, housekeeping and room services is fantastic. Our room is big and comfortable, view is wonderful and great location. Love the bathroom with organic toiletries, very considerate. Breakfast was ok but if there’s a chef cooking fresh food that would be better. The only let down is carpet and furniture, way too dark and old which make the whole hotel looks less attractive. They need to be updated to give customers a good impression. Over all, my family and I had a nice pleasant stay here, recommended for family with kids.
A.
Front reception was a luck of the draw on if you got a friendly and helpful person or a rude , blunt person.
We stayed with a newborn and the crib looks like it hasn't been changed in 20 years. It wasn't set up in our room even after requested and called to check 2 days prior to arrival. Then upon arrival they pulled out the folded bed and blamed us saying we requested a child.
Housekeeping were excellent very experienced and was training at the time and I was impressed by his instruction and safety mind set.
Staff at the cafe was excellent couldn't fault them. They went above and beyond.
Breakfast was $24 for continental and parking cost $12 a day. Something to be aware about.
Overall other than some bumps in the road it was a good stay.

Stayed here for a Conference.
The staff are extremely efficient, accommodating and friendly.
The rooms (and amenities within) are clean and the beds quite comfortable. The in room TVs could do with an upgrade though.
The conferencing facilities and the catering was pretty good.
Breakfast here was excellent.

First night done and concerned that we booked for three. Room was very very stuffy and hot whilst elsewhere in hotel is lovely temperature. Seems room temp is locked in - staff said forget about dial - doesn’t work. Having said that staff provided a standing fan initially and fixed the temperature by day 3. Much appreciated. Comfy bed and good range in bathroom products. Breakfast food a bit cold and average quality. Furniture run down with e.g. whole sections of laminate missing from sides of tables in dining area. Light on staff but staff were friendly and helpful.
K. B.
Great place to stay. The English lady on reception was amazing. Will be back. Spa and sauna were not working and gym needs an upgrade.
K. H.
From the time of booking the accommodation thru to check out we utterly enjoyed our experience.
The staff were all attentive and helpful. The rooms were exceptionally clean. The food was perfect, fresh and good portion sizes.
Buffet breakfast ticks all the box's. Lovely and warm inside.
A big thank you to Sonja who took our booking and ensured the entire process was faultless. Sonja showed a high level of customer service and is a asset to the Ridges team.
Thanks to all the staff that made our stay so relaxing.
E. H.
Room was clean and roomy. I especially loved the the indoor swimming pool and Jacuzzi. I thought it was ideal to have them indoors as it's noiseless towards surrounding rooms as sometimes people can tend to be loud, especially if going into them at night and it is also suitable for both the winter and summer weather. The reception needs more staff though as there was only one receptionist upon arrival and departure which took longer than expected to check in and out.
C. M.
room is clean and big. very comfortable bed. reception desk and hotel F&B department staff is very helpful and friendly. good service to their guest. Unfortunately, housekeeping forgot to give us toothbrush and toothpaste in our room. Good food but much better if they can offer variety of coffee choices such as latte, cappuccino and etc. overall stay was satisfactory and looking forward to stay again in the hotel on our future travel. thank you
K. C.
The hotel is somewhat dated but an impressive atrium & breakfast typical & good.
The room is rather retro & the unnecessary double steps in the room has the potential for serious injury to those less mobile or with sight problems.
It seems odd as the two levels serves no conceivable purpose.
The TV is near impossible to use as the channel select buttons don't work so it's laborious stepping up/down as it's incredibly slow to find channels.
Don't get me wrong it's an ideal place to stay though some distance from some locations (about 4.5km from Floriade but still walkable).
J. S.
Needed to attend a conference in Canberra in late 2015, and Rydges Capital Hill was the only hotel with disabled room booking able to be done online like all the able bodied guests. The service at the hotel is excellent. And I'd love to go back there.
P. B.
My friend and I had a really great stay at your hotel. Reception staff friendly and knowledgeable about the area advising us how to get to our destinations on foot and provided a map. The breakfast was great and room was perfect The pool was just great for my early morning swim. We would definitely stay again.
B. M.
With most attractions nearby and the Manuka and Kingston shopping precincts only a short walk and secure off street parking available, for me made the ideal location to stay.
Having stayed at the hotel many times in the past, it was a pleasure to be able to experience the revitalised gem (Rydges) in the heart of the nation's capital, having just undergone a multi-million dollar renovation to their public areas. (Reception, Bar, Lounge, Atrium)
It's been a while since i've stayed somewhere where the food and beverage outlet far out ways that on offer outside the hotel which had me preferring to catch up with people at the hotel bar over meeting somewhere else.
Your staff complemented the new facelift impeccably for what seemed to be a skeleton team. (assumed due to COVID and reopening). They provided world class 5 Star service - second to none and i would have no problems recommending the team here and hotel to anybody i speak with.
Well done RYDGES!! and Event Hospitality & Entertainment Limited (EVENT) on a fantastic revitalised property.

Had a weekend in Canberra and stayed here. Great front staff. Bar staff forgot a cocktail I ordered. Ended up getting refunded.

We liked this hotel a lot! Great breakfast, great service. The location of this hotel is close to everthing and most importantly, it has free car park! The room was good size, nice and clean. Happy aboutt the stay there. Would go back again next time! Highly recommended.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Rydges Capital Hill as part of a Treasures of Versailles package. We were very pleased with the value of the package and enjoyed our stay. It was a particularly pleasant surprise to see the size of the room provided as part of the package. Usually with these types of packages you get the basic room so we were really happy with the size of the room provided including the raised bed area and spa bathroom which was ideal for a couples getaway.
If we had to be picky I really don't know why the special French inspired meal couldn't have included all three courses rather than a selection of two out of three. This seemed to be a petty when you consider the overall experience.
The only other point which was a little annoying was the position of the TV in the room. It was neither directly in front of the lounge nor visible from the bed which made it a little bit awkward to view from either area.
These two matters are only minor in the context of the overall stay but they did strike us as being a little odd.
Staff were friendly and helpful in all areas and our stay was very enjoyable.
a. d.
nice hotel and cozy enough
the ac heater is really good its needed for winter season
but... plz ... the hotel should be pay more attention ... the long and two small pillows need to be wash regularly... it already been smelly. I've told to housekeeping when she made up my room... she told me that they will change those pillows tomorrow. But until I checked out after 3 days in the hotel, the pillows wasn't changed
C. J.
Pretty dated hotel. Bed is comfortable, but tv is old, air con controls pretty old. Apart from that, it's reasonably comfortable to stay in. Base rooms are pretty spacious as well. Staff were friendly and helpful (except for one lady).
Centrally located so close walking distance to Manuka Circle, and a short walk to Kingston foreshore.
B. M.
Big bed that's fairly comfortable, good shower pressure, nice food in the restaurant. Lost a star for charging guests $15 just to park our cars in the carpark.
s. b.
Can't open the window for fresh air, otherwise no probs with room
D. B.
Generously sized rooms. Very comfortable beds. Reception-level rooms have a nice courtyard view. The doors are not sound-proof on the 100-level, so you hear the "merry" guests passing in the hallway in the wee small hours.
S. H.
Our second time staying at this hotel; reception staff were polite and checked us in without fuss, however it took three hours for dental kits to be delivered to our room. Location wise close to major attractions and city, parking in underground lot is plentiful however spaces are tight. Beds are soft yet supportive, air-conditioning isn't loud, however the thermostat and on/off switch are in different places inside the room. TV is of the circa 2008 variety however this shouldn't be an issue for most travellers. Free Wi-Fi of decent speed. Breakfast buffet is standard hotel fare - eggs, bacon, snags and what have you, but of better quality. Coffee from the machine is atrocious.
L.
Our room was comfortable and clean. Kids loved the pool and spa. Gym was well equipped. Friendly staff. Great location - Coles and Cafes' close by. Will definitely stay again.
S. M.
Great location close to sports grounds and bars, a short drive to the city or shopping centres. 10 minute walk to some great restaurants at manuka. Rooms were spacious and clean with all the usual amenities. Breakfast buffet was included and had everything you could want. Staff were excellent.
S. K.
The blonde hair lady at the reception was very grumpy when i checked out in the morning (Fri 12/04/2019). She stared at her screen the whole time when she spoke to me impatiently - huge room for improvement. 1 Star for customer service.
The pool was absolutely amazing, and I was the only one using it at 6am in the morning. 5 Star for the pool.
The room was a little dated especially the bathroom. 3 Star.
H. F.
Service is very good, rooms are clean and up to date, location is in a quieter part of Canberra. Amazing beds though only simple free to air channels on TV and no DVD player was the only negative however this was only an issue as i was travelling with a child. All in all a really pleasant stay.
K. T.
Great room, very spacious and comfortable. Television and air conditioning is a bit old and unresponsive. Wish there were more variety to the breakfast menu. Overall I enjoyed my stay here
D. L.
The reception in and out very good. Bedroom cleaning very good. Breakfast on Tuesday was NOT good. Cooked food at 835 am was cool and over cooked. We could not find a clean table to sit at.We cleared dirty dishes off to get a table. There was only one man on duty and he was talking to a customer for over 10 minutes. We were there at breakfast for 30 minutes and NO table cleaning was done. As we were leaving another man came and started to clean.
Very bad. Two other couples arrived while we were there and they found a table tucked away.
We did not go back to the restaurant.

I have stayed at Rydes Canberra on may occasions when competing in events around the area. The staff at reception are always welcoming and friendly. They ensure all your needs are attended to. The rooms are always well maintained and everything is in working order. The bathroom is A1 and all amenities are of high quality. The pricing is reasonable for its size and facilities.
M. L.
Been here a couple of times with similar experiences.
++
Undercover pool/spa/gym is open all year round until 10pm.
Plenty of parking, often complimentary depending on booking.
Great deals through Groupon.
Buffet breakfast has a great variety. . Great location, only minutes away from main Canberra attractions.
--
Front service is OK, had to ask about parking, checkout, and facilities.
Thermostat in room was disfunctional.

Well situated and easily accessible. Shopping, bars and restaurants in the vicinity. There is a bar and a restaurant in the hotel as well as a florist. The food is good and well served. The staff is professional and helpful. Room is spacious and both the room and bathroom are well taken care of. Bed is comfortable. Carpet flooring is a bit outdated. The bar is welcoming and has a pool table. There is a gym with and a swimming pool. Different fitness machines and weights available, enough to keep you in shape. I think the accomodation and services provided as well as the location make it a good place to stay a few days in Canberra.

Out dated furniture ,Advertised large bath in Executive King room was in fact a small bath, Was looking forward to the stay but not up to par of other Rydges I have stayed in.

We were surprised with an unexpected upgrade which was lovely and appreciated very much. Our package included dinner and wine, the menu was not extensive but covered most options - hubby was quite satisfied with his salmon, and the Earth Bowl was delicious. Room service later arrived quickly. However, in room breakfast was a let down. Two bowls of cereal were ordered, along with toast, danish and tea, only one set of cutlery was on the tray and no sugar at all! I liberally sprinkled my cornflakes with salt by mistake! Only one small pot of tea and one cup were supplied. I had thought that two ticks on the order would be enough of a clue that two people wanted tea. We shared the cup but i had my black tea first so hubby could use the milk for his. Check in and check out was a breeze. Overall if we were to visit Canberra again we would definitely consider Rydges.
B. O.
Really enjoyed our stay at Rydges capital Hill, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very spacious and clean and the bed was quite comfortable.
The restaurant staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very filling with a good selection.
Will be staying again, in fact have just booked 2 more nights
C. M.
6 of us booked three rooms through Groupon. Rooms were well presented and clean. The atmosphere of the hotel appealed to us. It’s location was good. Unfortunately the dining room for dinner needs some work. We stayed 2 nights and both nights we waited over 90 minutes between courses. On each night one meal was either forgotten by the kitchen or served to another table. Thank god for NINA. This young woman saved the Rydges from a cranky complAint on both nights. She was a terrific waitress who tried her best to make a bad situation bearable. Rydges should try and keep her as she is great for customer service.
It seemed tha this hotel was understaffed for the long weekend. The room key system had issues that saw room keys expiring for no reason - frustrating when at the door of your room and locked out on multiple occasions. Issues with overheating in 277, 279 and 281 took a while to be addressed.and a broken remote in 279 just added to the frustration. Staff did their best but they were under the pump.
This was a shame - we are Rydges fans and in the priority guest program. This Rydges seemed to be more challenged than the other we have stayed in.
This review is offered not to criticise but hopefully assist.
Again we say - the staff were the saving grace - Nina is a great asst as is the young woman who ran the bar from 4 pm on Friday and Saturday night.
R. G.
The room (356) had plenty of natural light and was clean and well presented, but somewhat dated.
Shower over the bath is not my first choice from a safety perspective. The entry door was a bit hard to open - it catches bit.
The breakfast and bar facilities were good, but the check out was very slow - next time I will take the email checkout option.
R. L.
I had an enjoyable stay. I would recommend reviewing the type of televisions you use. I don't use the TV very much other than for some company in the morning. It was difficult and time consuming to find a free to air news station. Clearly a first world problem but a quicker and easier selection system would improve the experience. Loved the food at our meeting in the conference room. The conferencing facilities were very good as well.
G. W.
If you get a deal good value for money on accommodation. Breakfast $23 each, dinner average $36 both very good quality, bar was closed due to staff going sick so bar service was through the restaurant they did try and cover both. Overall very enjoyable experience.
M. B.
Clean and with good amenities. Check in team very friendly and professional. Would stay again. Great pool and sauna and there is a florist in the foyer in case you forget. Internet is free but you are charged $12 a day parking.

We were upgraded to honeymoon suite which sounded OK until we realised that the room adjacent to t he bed was open to the daylight and not able to be screened/curtained. So in the morning, quite early, the bedroom was light and therefore difficult to sleep.
Also the dining area and most of the reception area was very cool, about 18 Degree C. The dining room was in a draught from the open area and it was not very comfortable for a 4 star hotel. The air conditioning should have been on in this area.
The room was clean and the reception staff very good

My young family and I stayed over a weekend in July. We booked a twin room which was actually a huge king size bed and a pull out lounge. Not what we expected but it was fine. As others have mentioned, the place is rather old now and could use a revamp. Parking & Breakfast was included in our package deal (price was extremely competitive btw so worth the odd bed situation).
Having now stayed in several Canberra hotels, their breakfast buffet is def of the weakest as the selection is small and customer service is lacking. Wet scrambled eggs were the only egg option served in the buffet and we did not receive an alternative menu. Regardless, we asked for some poached eggs and the waiter was friendly and happily said yes to our request but unfort it took 40mins to receive them, which anyone with small kids will know, is beyond too late to have to wait.
We would stay again for the price but likely eat elsewhere.

Nice and clean hotel. Friendly staff. Good quiet location. Food from Figtree restaurant was delicious. Lovely bathroom in the embassy suite. Note: Room slippers, toothbrush and tooth paste not provided.
G. M.
As this was out first trip away in 18 years without our children we had a really enjoyable experience. The room (338) was nice and spacious for two people.
My suggestion would be with the milks for tea and coffee is that the long life milk not be the little tubs. The reason I suggest this is that the number of milks (4) would be suitable for those tiny cups but as Rydges supply decent size coffee mugs than the milk ratio may need to be looked at.
The ability to check in online was fantastic and check out was fantastic.
We did have breakfast the Sunday morning and found that it was value for money however the pancakes were cold.
The staff were fantastic from Checkin, breakfast and check out.
This was our second stay here and is our preferred hotel when we come to Canberra.
A. S.
Great comfortable stay. Comfy beds. Cosy simple rooms. Smooth check in / out. Great pool & spa. Delicious buffet breakfast. Friendly staff. Close to local amenities. Secure parking.
K. M.
Am pretty happy with the location which is very close in proximity to shops and restaurants. Very convenient especially with kids. Rooms were decent, would prefer to have somewhere to place/hang clothes whilst in the shower though. Would also suggest a safe to lock up things before heading out for the day. TV wasn't working which is annoying, we couldn't be bothered getting it fixed for our short stay. At least they had free Wi-Fi 😀 Nevertheless, we're satisfied customers.
B. W.
The Rydges Capital Hill is a good hotel, rooms are nice and clean, spacious and have a good desk for working from. The hotel had the facilities I needed and staff were friendly. Certainly would recommend and another hotel to add to my return to list.
P. M.
We really enjoyed our stay in Canberra Rydges Capital hill.
The staff were attentive however very busy. Our room was well presented and serviced each day, however we had an adjoining room door which was locked but meant that we could here the gentleman next door quite clearly coughing a lot during the night.
That being said the rest of the experience was great.
G. P.
My Superior Queen was a very comfortable room.
The staff were nice, kind and polite.
The bar is good for having a drink or something to eat, it's got a nice layout too.
P. S.
I was there when it opened in the late 80’s. It was 4 to 5 stars then. It’s looking a bit tired these days. An ok deal for the price I guess, but nothing to write home about. There was a general air of being a bit over it from some staff. The pool was untidy and lacked towels. The front door didn’t work. The whole thing needs some TLC. And I suspect that needs to come from the top. Wonder if Rydges management reads their reviews? On the upside, if you’re visiting Parliament House, the location is good.
T. M.
I have visited this Hotel quite a few times and generally speaking it is a pleasant experience. The motel is located within a short walk to local shops and restaurants if you want to get out. The room was nice, shower in the bathroom, balcony and very modern. Clean with standard room layout.
D. L.
Beautiful hotel. I go once a week and get stunned with the venue and the prompt service.
L. 3.
Well decorated lobby filled with greenery that actually made the room a disappointment once we got to it. Wasn't a fan of the bed, far too soft for my taste. Liked the bathroom jacuzzi. Reception staff were friendly but they were the only staff I met.
A. P.
Room is getting tired and needs a reno. Bed was a little soft for me but comfortable otherwise. Bathroom is very dated and had mold. Very poor for this style of hotel. Breakfast was good. Garden trees in the middle are nice to sit in etc
R. S.
We arrived late and were greeted by friendly staff. The room was lovely, clean and we slept really well. Location was great - we walked about in the morning and had a nice breakfast before heading on to Sydney.
M. M.
Beautiful, modern hotel except for the gym. It requires significant attention. Very old clapped out equipment.
A. S.
Our stay at Rydges hotel was wonderful. In particular, the staff were very accomodating and took the extra step to make our stay as great as possible. Alex and Neil were two staff that went above and beyond in this regard and we thank both of them for their kindness. Will definitely stay at the Rydges if we are ever back in Canberra
L. D.
Overall our stay at Rydges was comfortable and pleasant. The staff were willing to be helpfull and efficient. Our king/spa room, although looking a little tired and the spa not working, was adequate and pleasing. The air conditioning was appreciated as it was a very hot few days. The balcony was lovely, it would've been nice to have a couple of fold-up chairs accessible, maybe stored in the wardrobe? Our room was moderately priced and with only a little improvement could be worth its levy.
However I do have one huge complaint; the expensive food in the restaurant was terrible. Both our meals were tiny and not what the menu stated. My rib eye steak for $41, was a scotch fillet, tough, thin and overcooked, upsetting when I could do so much better myself. I used a "Good Food" gift card for a portion of our meal cost and am planning on contacting them with my complaint. This experience meant we did not consider breakfast or room service; usually a lovely treat when away from home.
I must say the proximity to Manuka Oval was great as our visit was mostly for Aust/India ODI.
G. W.
Very comfortable and functional. Great common space around bar and restaurant. Excellent location and quiet
L. C.
Since I was visiting family I only slept at the hotel therefore I did not use any of the hotel facilities other than to sleep and shower. The room was very nice, clean and well maintained. The reception staff were pleasant and efficient.
My only complaint was that when I checked out I was charged a fee for using my credit card. I find this practice by any business in todays cashless environment quite offensive. I believe businesses should build all costs associated with running a business into their charges. Imagine being told a price for your accommodation then told there is a surcharge for cleaning, an additional charge to cover power, extra fee to cover staff wages and so on. All these charges are included why not card fees. It is always perceived by guests to be a method of boosting revenue. All the goodwill built up by establishment during my stay was destroyed by this one action.
You ask the question below "Would I recommend this hotel" and because of the credit card fee I would not I am sorry to say.
V. D.
Rydges is good value for money. The first floor rooms facing National Circuit are the best pick - large with balconies. The couple of drawbacks are that there are NO Movie channels on the room TVs. The decor is dated but clean. It would be good if they would provide toast in the br/cafe along with their good coffee. There are large and plentiful seating areas in the lobby areas.
F. O.
Clean room ok big. Clean. Comfy beds. Nice bathroom. Morning buffet fine, there’l be something for most people. We had dinner at the hotel twice, salmon, pork belly and chicken. The chicken was the best. Quite large portions. Staff very friendly. A nice hotel to stay at. Very close to Parliment.
S. L.
Really nice hotel. Very fancy feel to it as soon as you walk into the foyer. Ate in the restaurant for dinner as well as breakfast. Food was good but breakfast buffet was smaller than other hotels although pricier. Indoor heated pool was beautiful, gym & spa also nice. Everything was clean. Really stupid shower design but otherwise i would highly recommend.
R. P.
This is an old hotel, and does hold some charm. The carpets are hard and must be due to be replaced. The twin room is large and comfortable. Food is very good. Breakfast buffet has some choice.
A. S.
Pretty good. Bed super comfy didnt get to try the resturant they were "too busy" . Brekkie not very awesome. Keep in mind if u want sofa beds made up they charge u extra $50 for sheets ! Parking is also extra. The manager on that nite (new yrs eve) was a lovely person. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank u
L. S.
This hotel is oldskool, I am sure it was modern in its day - the room features and the carpet in the lobby were an endless source of entertainment. Our bed was also very small, it felt like a double not sure if it was supposed to be but a touch on the cosy side.
The service and staff were excellent though and so it did what it said in the tin and we were happy.
Good location for the Australian Running Festival and walk to Manuka shops/ cafes.
R. L.
Great location for those working in the parliamentary triangle. But not walking distance to the CBD. Rooms are ok but rudimentary. Showers have great pressure but wets the entire bathroom because the divider is not long enough. Friendly and helpful staff.
D. J.
This is our second stay and we had another wonderful stay, everything from the greeting housekeeping standards, bar service especially the lovely and friendly Hannah who makes you feel right at home and welcomed. We spoilt ourselves again and stayed in one of the larger rooms well worth it if the budget can be stretched a little, you'll love it too.Breakfast service is very good with a variety of options for all tastes as is the evening menu, once again friendly and efficient staff.Lots to see in and around Canberra to keep you busy Do all the tourist things enjoy many large shopping centers or just relax at Rydges, we will be back again later in this year, already looking forward to it
H. W.
Good facilities including convenient carpark, pool, and spa. Gym was a bit dated however. Room was nice and bathroom modern. Service quality was great. Good deal for what you get. Pre booked breakfast was a refreshing change from the bad food experiences we otherwise had in Canberra and Thredbo.
S. P.
I went to Rydges Capital Hill restaurant, Figtree which was great. The menu selection although small was varied enough to suit the group I was with. The wine list was also decent. The restaurant felt a little cold, temperature wise but the layout and space was comfortable and welcoming. I'd go back again.
T. M.
***uka is a ten minute walk down the road. Breakfast buffet quite well done but all the hot food was in Le Creuset type dishes and so the lids were really heavy. The bed was getting on a bit and starting to sag in the middle but overall it was adequate.
L. T.
The location of the Rydges was perfect for us. Close to main roads to get us round Canberra but not busy. Large quiet rooms. Modern bathrooms. Very nice staff. Undercover parking with lifts straight to our floor. Very clean and tidy. Comfy beds. Close to plenty of cafes and restaurants in Manuka. Definitely on our stay list for next trip to Canberra
H. C. G.
We had a lovely stay at Rydges while we were visiting Canberra over the New Year. Well presented, comfy beds, friendly staff and at a reasonable cost. The pool, spa and sauna was excellent as well. The only disappointment we had is that the bar was not open for 2 of the 3 nights we were there. We would definitely stay here again.
T. M.
The hotel is well located a short walk from ***uka's restaurants and the lake. The tarpaulin style ceiling was Interesting and certainly a conversation piece, as it was dripping rain from outside and in on us. Breakfast particularly was difficult to fault. I don't think I would be happy paying full rate.
C. H.
Love the large room and comfy bed. Easy access from the carpark to the room. The room i was in was not very sound proof and could hear the elevator going up and down at night. I would recommend staying here again
M. P.
We had superb service from everyone we dealt with at Rydges Capital Hill, particularly Tali on the front desk. Together with our membership, that makes this hotel our choice for Canberra stays. Our single gripe would be that we would love the breakfast price to be more affordable, especially when amazing options like the Giles St cafes are so close.
M. M.
I stay at Rydges Capital Hill regularly as it is close to my parents unit. Being a member of the rewards program is an incentive for me as I usually get a room upgrade and often reasonable rates (by Canberra standards). I must say that Melissa who works in the reception is exceptional, always very friendly, courteous and genuinely willing to make stays as pleasant as possible. I know another family who stay at Rydges and have the same opinion through their experiences.
The food in the restaurant and bar is average and poor on Sundays.
Thank you
U. H. T.
Friendly staff, clean well appointed and spacious room. Good location near Manuka shops with lots of restaurants, about 800 meters away. Only issues are I could not turn up heating on cold Canberra night, extra blanket was bit thin, room service and restaurant selection was a bit limited and pricey but not an issue as mentioned numerous eating spots down the road. Would happily stay here again.
D. N.
Happy friendly staff. Enormous rooms. Egyptian cotton sheets with long pillows. Free wifi. On-site parking. All-you-can-eat breakfast: nobody stopped me on my 5th serving of eggs and hash browns,
A. A.
Comfortable rooms with a modern bathroom. Gym is a bit outdated. Parking area is a bit strange as it is circular in shape so the front end of every parking bay is cramped since parking bays are arranged in a circle. Restaurant downstairs provides a very good buffet breakfast, but probably not sure if I can do it twice in a row.
S. M.
Quality hotel that ticks every box. Comfy beds, Foxtel, good shower pressure & above average shampoo. Brekky buffet was a hit with a tasty selection on offer & the heated pool, spa, gym & sauna are all more than adequate. Undercover parking is $12 extra but overall Rydges is excellent value.
S. R.
As someone that travels to Canberra on a fortnightly basis, I always choose to stay at Rydges Capital Hill.
The staff are friendly and attentive, the buffet breakfast is always consistent and well-prepared - and the fish and chips on the Room Service menu is among the best I've had anywhere (I always make sure to order at least once in every stay).
What's more, as a member of the Preferred Guest Reward program, I absolutely enjoy the free room upgrades and late checkout benefits.
Conveniently located in the Parliamentary Triangle (and only a short walk to the National Press Club), I heartily recommend Rydges Capital Hill to any traveller coming to Canberra, for business or pleasure.
R. A. M.
Absolute happy with the quality of service that the hotel staff provide. Everyone was very accommodating. We felt appreciated during our entire stay at the place. A must-book hotel!
L. W.
The hotel is in quite a good location. However, it can be more prominent when viewed from the rear to allow potential clients to distinguish the business from residential buildings and community facilities such as nearby churches and shops.
S. R.
As someone that travels to Canberra on a fortnightly basis, I always choose to stay at Rydges Capital Hill. …
S. I.
Rooms are comfortable and clean, and well equipped. Stayed here while attended a conference which was also being held here. Conference facilities were sufficient. Lunch and morning/afternoon tea were all very decent.
C. M.
I like Rushes. Great location and very comfortable
M. A.
Stayed here for 5 nights, it was quite nice experience. The front desk staffs are friendly with patient, housekeeping and room services is fantastic. Our room is big and comfortable, view is wonderful and great location. Love the bathroom …
J. M.
Great meal, friendly staff
M. S.
Great place to stay. Lovely room. Would not recommend the restaurant although the bar at happy hour is a must
F.
The lobby is quite beautiful. So much greenery indoors really makes a difference. Staff were polite and rooms were nicely set up. Also really close to the parliament house
A. K.
Beautiful rooms at a great price. The restaurant was absolutely wonderful as well
M. Z.
I attended a few conferences and parties here. I also stayed for a couple of night. Really great place. Close to the lake and has a few parks around the place. Has paid parking available. Service is good. They have a resto and bar in the place. Really nice hotel.
M. F.
A very clean well kept hotel. Good service with a reasonable restraunt. Close to all attractions but then anywhere in Canberra is close to everything. Good do with a facelift as it seems to be dated.
L. q.
The hotel itself is fine and well situated for Parliament House. I gave it 3 stars because i found the staff less than friendly...but then I come from Fiji.
Edit on Dec 12th, 2020 after reading the Response from the owner; Bula from Fiji. I am so sorry you might have misunderstood what I meant when I said "but then I come from Fiji". I was referring to how we in Fiji, a country heavily reliant on tourism, always have our Bula smiles on. I was in no way inferring that I might have been treated differently because I am from Fiji. Vinaka.
T. M.
Based upon the service of the reception staff we will definitely come back. Attended the bar on a couple of occasions and the staff were very friendly. We got the room on a very special price, and it was clean and more than adequately sized for what we were after.
M. N.
Not a bad, pretty standard hotel. Buffet breakfast was average, water pressure in the shower was horrendous and the temperature wouldn't stay constant, resulting in swings between freezing and bloody hot.
R. A. M.
Absolute happy with the quality of service that the hotel staff provide. Everyone was very accommodating. We felt appreciated during our entire stay at the place. A must-book hotel!
M. S.
Located within minutes of Canberra's Parliament House, Rydges Capital Hill caters to those staying for business and pleasure. The conference rooms were spacious with great facilities, as well as a gym, restaurant and free wifi. Limited free parking with secure undercover parking at an additional daily cost. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable too.
T. H.
Great location, easy underground parking (although $12 a night), food was a bit expensive. Easy checkout at 5:30am. Some rooms are larger than others even though they're the same type (our friends booked same room as us but they had about half the amount of space.
V. M.
Spacious rooms Quiet inside. Wonderful pool area. Friendly staff.
I. F.
Very nice room. Friendly and helpful staff. Very much enjoyed the meal and drinks in the restaurant. All this for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend the Priority Rewards program.
P. L.
Hotel has well equipped rooms for functions and trainings.
Catering is of quality with varied food options.
For attendees of training underground parking is available for $12 per day.
P. B.
Very neat and comfortable hotel accommodation. The bar is a great place to catch an evening drink and quick meal at very good prices. Free WiFi was fast and reliable. The staff were very helpful and polite.
B. D.
Canberra is always interesting to visit, the road patterns seem illogical, so it is great to find somewhere so conveniently located to the major sights and a good food precinct nearby. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean, and the staff always friendly and helpful. A few more power points would be useful.
T. M.
The car spaces in the carpark are very small so be careful if travelling in a large vehicle. Fortunately this could be changed, but we couldn't understand why the rooming preference was ignored when we booked. Mould in corners. Easy walk to ***y Cafes and Restaurants or McDonalds for the kids for a breakfast or snack.
P. C.
I stayed at Rydges this time as I couldnt be bothered driving home after a late flight into Canberra.
Checking in was a breeze, thanks Chris - who has looked after me in the past. Our room was upgraded, thanks to being a PGR member. The room was big, clean and very comfortable.
Wasnt in the mood for dinner, got there about 9.30pm, but had a couple of relaxing drinks in great atmosphere of the bar.
Bed was so comfortable, didnt want to get out of it.
Checking out was a breeze.
Thanks again guys.
B.
Moderm hotel, family friendly, clean sheets and rooms. Kids had lots to explore with the indoor rainforest, ponds and fish. Great pool, gym, sauna, undercover parking, close to everything in city. Stayed here whilst visiting ski fields about 1.5hr drive away, but closer alternatives were old roadside motels twice the price.
I. S.
Stayed for one night recently. Rooms were clean good ameneties...however all the power points were flush against the floor which made it impossible for me to plug my phone charger in without sort of adapter /or to use kitchen or bathroom points....i had to leave early morning so they provided a breakfats pack to my room which was not very enticing.
B. Y.
The location is great. The rooms are neat and tidy with all the necessary amenities. All the staff, specially the people at the front desk were very pleasant and helpful.
J. M.
Room was worth the money. Went to Figtree Restaurant for dinner. The hostess looked like she didn't want to be there. Sat us down at our table and walked away. Two woman came in straight after us, the same hostess took their order for dinks and meal, while my husband, daughter and myself were sitting there still waiting to place our drinks order atleast. Caught her attention and placed order for everything. Food definitely not worth the money. Dark atmosphere, needs more lighting.
A. M.
Stayed for a conference. Room was pleasant, relatively spacious and with a nice view of the park and church. Breakfast was good, and the catered lunch and dinner was really good, much better than we expected.
R. W.
Checking was a big disappointment. It became clear that it was one staff member who let the others down in terms of customer service. Computer issues during our stay were also the blame for hiccups which impacted on quality of stay eg a sheet found to be torn & reported not replaced, loyalty status not available in restaurant. We would stay again as each issue could be seen to be potentially one else off's & overall hotel has a lot going for it
V. V.
Check in and check out absolutely seamless. Fitness facilities and pool are at a high standard for this type of hotel. Paid parking is undercover and secure. Room clean, comfortable (except for the doonas make it too too hot) and well serviced.
A. G.
Great Location. Hotel has been through a refurbishment. New Bar and Dining Area. New Bathrooms.
J. T.
It was a good location for what we wanted to do, not far to the NGA and Library, as well as close to Kingston and Manuka restaurants. The staff were fine. The bathroom, however, was a shocker. I've travelled a lot in Asia and India, so I know third world standards, and believe me you are struggling to meet them. The $10 shower head dripped continually, and when the water was turned on there was an extraordinary banging noise in the wall. Tiles were chipped and cracked and the grouting discoloured. The toilet bowl was stained.
The beds were fine and everything worked OK.
M. S. (.
Good
-Nice location which is near Manuka.
-Friendly staff. Especially housekeeping staffs are fantastic!
-Indoor swimming pool, spa, weight training facility, laundry and sauna.
-Beakfast is fantastic!!!
Bad
-Lift door open before it stops. Feels dangerous.
-Old building.
-Power outlets are located bottome of wall which is very annoying to use them.
-Renovated shower booth is total failure. Water everywhere......
S. H.
A quite nice, modern, full service hotel with 24/7 in room dining, internet access/television/movies, swimming pool/gym, and under cover secure parking ($12 for a one night stay, as at 2018). The location is close to the major attractions of Canberra such as Parliament House, although a car would still be required. There are no shops or cafes within walking distance, so come prepared, although there are some very nice cafe's within a few minutes drive. I enjoyed my stay and would come again.
ADDIT: In reply to enquiry - there was a $12 charge to use the covered secure carpark as at 2018. Please check directly with the hotel to enquire if this has changed.
K. H.
Excellent service, excellent rooms and a beautiful bar area enclosed by the rooms.
L. W.
The hotel is in quite a good location. However, it can be more prominent when viewed from the rear to allow potential clients to distinguish the business from residential buildings and community facilities such as nearby churches and shops.
K. C.
Very good hotel room with spa. Love the indoor foliage. Hate the carpark swipe post as can't seem to get my car in the right position without a few manoeuvres... It is in a hard spot to reach to but maybe the problem is also with my driving. :D
J. P.
We stayed in a king spa suite. The room was lovely and good sized. There was mildew on the bathroom ceiling though and the shower wasn't great. Lovely staff though and the food was good.
F. B.
Spacious room and bathroom. TV didn't show all available channels, remote needs replacing, check in and out very efficient. Comfortable place to stay.
J. Y.
Room was clean, otherwise the room was dim. The fig tree restraunt was dark and few people dined there. We also had breakfast there, the choices weren’t that much. Also,if you book the night before, it is $23 or if you book it on that day, it is $28.
B. F.
The staff and facilities were great. Only problem I had was after driving 5 hours my kids were tired and wanted to rest but had to wait over an hour for our room to be ready. And seems it wasn't just us most people were being told the same thing despite it being past 2pm
S. G.
Rooms are nice enough. Room cleaning seemed sporadic. Concierge was formal not friendly. Bar was closed for our stay but it was early January. Restaurant was under staffed but again it was early January. Food was over priced but their coffee was great.
R. S.
Nice place to stay. Very quiet. The breakfast was the issue. It was OK however not enough staff working to keep the food available.
J.
This was our 2nd stay at Capital Hill booked Embassy suite as it was our Daughters B'day. Very disappointed in room an extreme waste of space poorly laid out and could use a revamp looking worn. It would have been nice to have a small dining table & chairs it certainly had space for one however we crowed around the coffee table for out room sevice meal (great pizzas & fish n chips). Breakfast 1st morning was terrific home made hash browns delicious. 2ND night we had dinner in Figtree Restaurant Baby Squid entrée highly recommend scotch fillet from main was cooked well however, meat quality let it down. Dessert menu was extremely ordinary with only 3 choices one being cheese. Chose to go back to room & order the awesome Walnut & Maple ice cream we had the previous night only to be phoned 10mins after placing order to be told there was none only chocolate not even vanilla
:-(. 2nd morning breakfast definitely a chef change what a let down from the previous day. Scrambled eggs 1/2 cooked floating in raw uncooked liquid "ineatable" happy to make an omelette way too heavy handed with ham and cheese the bacon was fried then appeared to have been steamed /stewed it was falling apart trying to get it out of the serving dish &it was so salty was uneatable. We would stay again as love their dream beds, staff are very helpful and pleasant but would not waste extra money on Embassy Suite & think twice about Sunday morning breakfast. Do us all a favor Keep the Saturday chef on Sundays as well.
T. M.
The air circulation was a bit noisy and I couldn't make the climate control work. The location is very central to the parliamentary triangle and close to ***uka and a ten minute easy drive to the Canberra CBD. I highly recommend staying at Rydges Capital Hill when going to Canberra.
D. K.
Great place to stay
Just a quick stroll to the cafes of Manuka. Book an inward facing room and watch the inner ceiling change colour at night. Only down side is the buffet breakfast is a bit limited sometimes.
C. S.
It's nice to be acknowledged as a returning guest and of course we keep coming because the beds and pillows are so comfy. Just one or two things would make a world of difference though.. we need outlets to plug laptops into up off the floor (my MacBook charger will only plug into the bathroom or at the wetbar - not ideal .. so plugs at desk level would be great - also USB plugs at the desk. Hopefully you are planning this upgrade soon. We ate in at the Fig Tree Restaurant - the pork belly was disappointing...but the tuna sashimi was superb ! we just love Canberra Rydges .. great service from everyone !
R. d. S.
If you're working in the new Dept Finance building, 1 Canberra Avenue, directly across National Cct you will find the old Rydges hotel. You won't find accommodation any closer than this. The hotel has a 1980's feel. The room didn't appear to have been renovated during its longish existence
b. l.
Off-peak season, price was very affordable, swim pool with hot bubbled spa were excellent.
N. S.
Basic hotel for less price. Location is good. Its 5 min drive from parliament. Its not a luxury hotel.
Better getting deals from Groupon. You get complementry wine, wifi, parking and Breakfast.
C. F.
Good place to stay in Canberra. Room was so quiet and a great bed. Bar was good too
F.
The lobby is quite beautiful. So much greenery indoors really makes a difference. Staff were polite and rooms were nicely set up. Also really close to the parliament house
D. M.
Average hotel rooms. Breakfast buffet is well equipped with fruit, pancakes, eggs and other breakfast dishes. Hotel has a small gymnasium, swimming pool, hot tub and sauna facilitie.
D. T.
When I stay in Canberra I always check Rydges Capital Hill as it is close to Manuka Oval. That said there is always a good deal to be had and the rooms are amongst the most comfortable I have ever had the pleasure of staying in.
B. H.
The Queen rooms are very spacious. Breakfast is good, secure undercover parking. Easy 5 min walk to close by Manuka Shops
l.
Fairly typical large corporation type hotel, well run, clean, efficient staff but what frustrates me is that so much of their advertising borders on deceitful. Make sure any extras you are given aren't charged on top of original offers.
B. F.
Wonderful place, great for weddings. Offers some of the best after wedding reception in Canberra. Hotel rooms are amazing with nostalgia rooms have a very beautiful view
s.
Wonderful clean rooms, renovated bathroom. Friendly staff and Canberra's best breakfast. Always stay here and never had a bad night.
C. L.
Room was comfortable but a bit dated. The cabinets could use updating. Breakfast was ok. Bar was never open. Staff was friendly.
K. A.
Once again it was a great experience staying with you. Everything we needed your hotel had. We ate breakfast and dinner, the food was great. Looking forward to our next stay with you. 👍
j. h.
Excellent room. Room service very poor. Front desk service average. Breakfast too expensive. Other Rydges are about $20. Didn't accept Union Pay. All other Rydges do.

I do not recommend staying too long if you have dietary concerns, there is only one option for you for breakfast and it is what you will eat every day.
R. R.
Restaurant was good. Great food, beer and coffee. Temperature was too cold though. 19° outside.. no need for aircon
A. v. N.
Clean Room, friendly reception staff and very quick check in and out. Restaurant and bar open late. Good location. Would stay again.
K. D.
Breakfast is excellent. Location is good as you can walk to manuka shops. Free wifi. Embassy suite decor is a bit old but clean and comfortable.
W. S.
It is a good place to stay in Canberra, although I still prefer the QT. The food at the restaurant/bar - The Fig Tree - was fine, the but without many options from where to choose. See the pictures for more information.
G. M.
Fantastic spot, superb facilities, the pool and spa are just what you need to relax after a hard day sightseeing. Rooms are quiet and comfortable. I will be back
E. M.
Beautiful lobby, with a lot of plants indoor. Decor is a little late 90s/early 00s but beautiful nonetheless. Food was also quite nice
S. A.

The hotel is nice and good space. It does have a little bit of an old feel. Dinner was sensational and the staff are very friendly.
K. S.
Decent place to stay with kids. Staff are friendly except for the guy at reception. Not sure how you can be in hospitality business and dont smile at your guests😉
R. F.
Good location and spacious room. Limited vegetarian options in the restaurant though and one of the veg options wasn't available. Good service.
T.
Good for a few nights, nice and close to everything, got a room right next to the foyer and room was silent. Buffet breakfast was average but that’s my only complaint

Shower wouldnt hold temperature - hot, cold, hot, freezing. Very frustrating. Bed was comfortable and place was clean. Carpet very very dated.
M. T.
Nice foyer, good staff, buffet breakfast is nice. The lift is a little old and scary - it opens before it reaches the floor.
L. T.
This hotel would be the best to go to in terms of how close it is to all the main attractions of Canberra. The rooms are tidy, and kept extremely clean.
C. Z.

Good hotel. Howwever, it is showing it's age and needs a facelift. Parking is also to narrow and there are support posts everywhere so be careful when parking.
E. E.
I stayed for 2 nights. Room was very nice, restaurants and bars comfortable and pleasant.
M. O.
Good sized rooms. Great buffet breakfast, though a little expensive. Nice walking distance to Manuka and Capital Hill.
J. B.
The staff behind the front counter seem like they dont want to be here, we ordered a chicken and avacado club sandwich, and came with no avo (to the defence theybdid offer us drinks and dessert to compensate. It feels like who ever repainted the rooms did it very fast and can easily see the edges and colors bleeding into areas they are not supposed to be, even the fire sprinklers in the room have white paint on them
L. M.
Excellent hotel Away from the hustle and bustle but close to restaurants in Manuka and Kingston
J. T.
