We stayed for 1 night and then decided to come back after seeing friends and stayed for another 3 nights. We booked before we left. On returning we had been upgraded to a 2 bedroom room on the ground floor with a washing machine and dryer 😊. Then with Darwin in lockout day by day we kept staying. This place will not let you down There is nothing to complain about. If you want a neat and tidy place to stay with great service and staff, this is the place to come.☺️☺️

I would recommend staying here at the staff and grounds are pleasant and enjoyable.
The only thing I can think of is if you are mobility impaired or have a lot of baggage there is no lift for second floor and above.
We had a lovely time and thanks to everyone for being so accommodating.
We stayed with our three year old and everyone was pleasant, friendly and kind.

Beautiful place !
The only bad point is the noise. despite being in a hotel on vacation, it is difficult to sleep in the morning (noise from a drill between 9:00 and 10:30, 3 times a week or a maintenance agent who uses a blower for the leaves at 9 a.m. etc ...) too bad.
The housekeepers and reception staff are lovely, patients & always smiling. Nice late acces to the pool with a cute waterfall & lights.

Went to the Nepalese restaurant in these apartments, not 5 star but friendly family restaurant with tasty food at reasonable prices and byo with no charge!! Easy parking friendly staff, give it a go, Momo's are great!

Dolly was so obliging over phone , room clean and convenient to city would definitely recommend it

Just arrived but seems a pleasant hotel. Nepalese restaurant on site. Shell service station across the road with Coles Express. Cellarbrations bottle shop 2 minute walk.

Absolutely great place to stay - clean tidy and friendly staff! The swimming pool was well kept and the mini breakfast cafe is a great idea (for a $5 fee)! Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to travellers like myself or even young families who are looking for a central place in Darwin!
D. B.
Stay here every other week! Good location, big rooms, many facilities and a pool! Really great! Slightly disappointed when I choose stay elsewhere..
Thank you!

Not much to look at but very clean and spacious rooms. Microwave, kettle, toaster, cutlery and crockery, washing machine and drier provided. Nice pool. Lovely friendly, helpful staff. Good cheap breakfast. Good price if you are on a budget

This property was much larger than expected. We got a 3 bedroom apartment for the family which has builtins, a loungeroom, cooking facilities and cooking tools.
The room was in fact 2 seperate apartments linked with adjoining lockable door. The rooms are very spacious, clean, air conditioners in each room and overall we were pleasantly surprised and satisfied.
There is a communal pool with a small flowing fountain. There is a thai restaurant named green chillies as part of the property and they also offer small continental breakfast i believe.
We walked to woolworths about 15min walk to pick up food for breakfast and dinner.
The checkin process was easy and quick and they had a simple after hours solution as we arrived late.

The location is good, being only a short walk to the centre of town. Some rooms are for per***ent stays(workers) but in general it was quiet. Good for tourist who wants to save on credit card charges and have excess cash in hand to spend. I feel I can recommend this place if you want to cater for yourself and don't mind simple furniture.

Small and basic. Rather dated layout overall with old tiles and sink. Yet it comes with updated beddings and sofa. Good pricing for what we can get though with the kitchen facilities plus a semi-new washing machine and dryer inside the unit located in the bathroom, toilet and laundry combined.

Nice little two bedroom apartment in a motel set up. Set on the fringe of the CBD its near the Botanical Gardens and Mindl Beach and Darwin Casino. Walk to Mitchell Street and The Esplanade. Great tropical pool. Good value for the price and included a free light breakfast as we booked directly on the web site. Room was nice. Freshly painted and had a decent size fridge, washer and dryer were very handy as we were 4 adults and a newborn baby. No road noise at night and room was dark. Only downside was the very low couches, bathroom could have been abit cleaner and blind in the lounge in room 207 was very stiff to pull up. No lift but Not too much of a problem. Free car space. Staff were all very helpful and friendly.

Very clean, neat and tidy. At 8am we were surprised by a knock on the door. Very basic accomodation but to a degree you get what you pay for. The location is a 510 mins walk to the city and the famous Mindil beach for sunset viewing. Great stay thankyou.

Very friendly and helpful staff, 24hr Coles express just over road which is very convenient, a few minor issues that were easily sorted by Dolly and the team

So much value for your money! At least in the low season it is. We paid $66 per night and had a private room with very well equipped kitchenette. A washer and dryer in the appartment for free. Bathroom of course. Access to the pool and bbq. Smack in the middle of Darwin City so it is easy to walk everywhere. Whether you want to go to the waterfront or cullen bay. The service was great. Free parking too!
B. M.
For the price, this place is great. It is extremely clean and the service is great. Pool is also wonderful for those hot Darwin days and there is air con in all rooms which is amazing. Whilst the building itself is quite tired and old, the staff maintain the cleanliness very well so it doesnt really matter, especially for the price you are paying. It is in walking distance to the CBD so the location is good as well. It doesn't deserve the bad reviews in my opinion and I would definitely stay again as it is very affordable and clean! Couches were quite uncomfy though for late night TV watching...!

Reception staff member was very friendly and helpful with a small issue in the room.
This review option need a multi star system.
5 stars to the staff
3 stars to parking
3 stars for cleanliness
0 stars for internet, it’s slow and 500mb is not enough, let me pay for more and I’ll up to 2 stars cause it was very slow.
1 star for general room quality
5 stars for value.
5 stars for room facilities
For the staff I would like to thank you, you did everything you could and were very understanding.
For this I am greatful.

Very helpful and friendly at the Alatai. Rooms large and all have air conditioning. While it is a little dated, it provided so much more in facilities. like own washing machine, dryer etc. Price and location spot on. Thanks Alatai, we enjoyed our time and thanks you for being so helpful.

Comfortable reasonably priced and a short walk to the centre of town very friendly staff

Beautiful place to stay at. I am back for holiday again and I have met some real nice people. The staff are warm and friendly. I haven't met a William throughout my stays so I am assuming there are new owners. My husband and I are so privileged to stay here. Going to miss you Alatai staff and Darwin. Going home to Aotearoa.

Its old but its clean. The pool is beautiful and clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. Restraunt on premises. And it is right in the middle of everything.
T. M.
Loved the massive lagoon pool in the centre of the buildings that you look down on from your room. We made good use of the pool on most days and the air conditioning and fan kept the room comfortable. We had a kitchenette in our apartment too which is handy if you are trying to save money whilst travelling.

Very impressed with the Alatai Apartments. The apartment was spotlessly clean. The shape of the complex, with the internal walkways and stairways and shared balconies coupled with very little in the way of sound insulation meant that sound …

I was very happy with the initial service & apartment. However, I was very unhappy that my credit card was deducted without my permission 1 day after check out!!! This was with regard to the "refundable" deposit which I did have refunded to me - however, someone took the opportunity to deduct $50 from my card anyway so I am reluctant to use my Credit card with them or rebook them & recommend to others. I am a local so I won't be sending business their way. I know its not a lot of $ to some people perhaps but its the principle of trust that has been broken in my experience.

The decor isn't out-of-date in our apartment. The kitchen is well equipped with pots, pans, cutlery and crockery. There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer. The staff are very helpful. The property is a 15 min walk to the supermarket and the esplanade.
M. W.
Very close to the CBD area. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The housemaids work continuously throughout the morning sometimes into the late afternoon. We love it here. We have met lot's of people and the pool area is primo. Good stuff Alatai staff.
T. M.
Decor was very tired and there were not even bedside lights so you had to get out of bed to turn light off. I believe the ***agement is not interested in the safety of its guests. Darein' accommodation prices are very high in the dry season JuneAugust. The location was very convenient.
T. M.
Quiet spot away from main city centre but close enough for easy walking around CBD. Staff helpful and friendly and cannot be held responsible for the nightly influx of indigenous locals who gather to drink in the vicinity of the apartments. Over-all, i had a good stay and definitely will come back.
N. D.
Room was ok very spacious. The bathroom requires an upgrade, we had previous cigarette burn marks on the main sink .
Breakfast was a shame

For a short stay recommended, as it is not expensive. You get what you pay for, a bit worn down rooms. Location is good. Close to Mindil beach, ca. 15 mins walk, towards waterfront ca. 30 mins walk. Friendly staff!

Great value for money. Professional and courteous staff. Highly recommended to any family looking for a 2 bedroom holiday apartment, with all amenities including a pool.
J. L.
Price matched the stay. Had no problems except the didn't make the room for 3 days in a row got a little sweaty in the sheets. Disappointed I didn't see any prostitute like a a previous guest stated.
T. M.
I stay in a lot of motels as I need self catering for special diet reasons. Easy walking into town although if you are going to attempt to carry your shopping back it may be a little far. There is a bottle shop and Coles express over the road which was handy.

Stayed there while travelling for work. Had everything I needed. People must remember this is Darwin after all. It's all very laid back up here. So any bad reviews are in my opinion just expecting too much. This is more like something you would find out in the pacific or some of the more touristy parts of SE asia. Still has everything you need and a lot of space but you may not get a welcome mint on your pillow. Not a honeymooners paradise by any means but good enough for what I was doing up there. Thanks for having us Alatai. Chris

Staff lovely rooms a lot bigger than some very reasonable price washing machine and dryer also in our room on-site restaurant is really nice as well all rooms have balcony or courtyard nice pool area
T. M.
We enjoyed our holiday in Darwin staying at the Alatai Apartments. It's well located, within walking distance of most of what Darwin city has to offer. I would recommend these apartments if you are staying with family or in a large group. The city centre is within walking distance.
T. M.
Stayed here for a week in June and probably wouldn't choose it again, unless there are some repairs done. Very few people were there at the time and we had the swimming pool to ourselves at lunchtime and in the evening. Nothing was overlookedwe had clean towels/bathmat every single day.

Quiet space and spacious parking!

Every thing is fine but that night we couldn't sleep due to the people walking and taking the entire night. It felt like the people there never sleep.

(Translated) For Australia and the standard price unbeatable. You live in a studio with balcony, kitchenette (and equipment), a bed, desk and a small sofa. The room is a good size and clean. The bath as well, shower is hot and has good pressure (not always like that in Australia). There is free coffee, tea and milk and drinking water in the fridge, this is also refilled during the cleaning. There is also a small but nice pool area with BBQ.
Another plus is that you can use the washing machine and dryer free of charge. We had booked 3 nights and extended to 7 nights. In the city you walk about 15 minutes.
The breakfast costs 8 AUD per day, but I did not use it.
Conclusion: If you want to spend a cheap night in Darwin, you get a lot for little money here.
