B. W.Nice, clean place to stay at good price!! Kitchen and common areas are good places to just chill out. Staff are friendly, only downside is a bit of street noise at night but it was a Saturday night! Would definitely stay again.

The only issue might be the light in the shower room, which is automatically turned on and off, so at night if you need to take some time in the toilet/shower room, the light might turn off when you're not even done. If you're afraid of the dark, it can be quite scary. But overall, I have no issue. Will recommend this place to my friend :)

The staff is very helpful and friendly and a fully functional shared kitchen with fridges, toaster, sink, stove and cutlery was very handy.
Highly suggest staying here and hope to do so again myself!
K. S.Great location just outside of the shopping erea but just a 5 min walk to the center. The staff where very quick and friendly. The room was just big enough for the both of us but thats what we know and payed for. We could hear our neigbours from time to time but had the feeling the walls wheren't thin at all. The bed slept really good, nice matras and it made no sound what so ever. The bathroom looked very clean. The room also had a heater. The shared kitchen didn't look that clean unfortunately and was a bit cluttered. All in all we had a great stay here and would recommend it to anyone.
T. M.A quiet, family friendly hostel for all ages. We stayed in a double room which was a good size. There was a strict no noise policy after 10pm which we really appreciated and was respected by the guests. The location of the hostel is nice, not far from the center. Value for money.
G. H.Was seriously impressed by the quality of this backpackers. Stayed in the double room with private ensuite, which was not modern or stylish but was spotless and the bed was more comfortable than most hotels I've stayed in. It was small, but functional and the shower was good. Kitchen facilities were great and there are signs up asking guests to be considerate and keep the noise down. The weather was lovely so I'm not sure how it would go if it was very hot or very cold. This is definitely not your normal party town backpackers. I would absolutely stay here again. They also provided labels and pens to mark your food.
T. M.I stayed with my 6yo during a busy time and felt very welcome and safe. The room was clean and tidy. The curtains in the room I was staying in blocked out almost all light making for a good nights sleep. The people working there were really friendly and helpful. E. P.The location was excellent; just far out enough that you avoided all the traffic and noise but not too far out that you had to walk for miles or drive everywhere. The owner was friendly and accommodating, and was very approachable the couple of times we dealt with him. The room was small but that was to be expected from a hostel. The room didn't get any signal for the free WiFi, which was an inconvenience. The toilet seat was a little dicky and as such moved around while in use. The shower cut in and out making it difficult and unpleasant to use. The room wasn't cleaned very well; the sheets smelt like old lady perfume, there was used soap with other people's hair on it in the shower, there was dust and dirt under the bed, and the small heater smelt when on due to the dust caked on it. There was a lovely skylight which was the only source of natural light in the room but the blinds covering it didn't shut properly so let in the early morning light. There was no parking at the hostel so I had to pay for street parking, which got a bit expensive. For a private double bed room with tiny bathroom I was charged $64, which after experiencing the hostel is too expensive for the quality of the room. There was an option when booking to request a quiet room, however I didn't sleep much due to the people in the room next to us making noise throughout the night and early hours of the morning. Overall I wasn't very impressed with the hostel itself. There is much room for improvement.
J. E.I'll be honest, I was pretty skeptical of this place at first...but it was all misplaced. This place is great!! It's sooo much better than all it's competitors for a private room at this price.
Tony (the host) is amazing. So helpful, polite, and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable, the kitchen was well supplied, and the common space was lovely, clean, and well maintained. The whole place is quiet and comfortable. I would highly recommend this place.
P.Very friendly management who go out of their way to help you if you need it. Clean rooms, spotless and large kitchen. Very well priced for an ensuite room. Its also close to the center of the city. I’d strongly recommend this hostel for a stay in Hobart.
C. F.The private rooms with ensuite are reasonably priced for a weekend away. Rooms are quite cold but once the radiator heater was up and running the room was warm (we did leave it on all day whilst we were out and about). The host is friendly and accommodating

This hostel was a breath of fresh air after having some, let's say, disappointing experiences with two other hostels in Hobart.
The owners are really lovely and we were looked after very well during our stay. Highly recommended.

Excellent ***agement keeps the rooms (dorms and singles as well), common spaces, bathrooms, and kitchen in lovely shape and extends gracious good wishes and assistance to travelers. Only the location is good.
T. M.The kitchen has enough utensils for cooking. Conveniently located in the heart of Hobart. Perfect for couples and mature travelers on a budget. It's been quiet at night (in a good way) and they have signs up threatening to kick noisy people out instantly which is the perfect hostel in my book.

It is a place for people who want quietness and quality. Definitely not for young ones who want loud and party, they can go round the corner at the Green Frog! Denise
T. M.The hostel is a quiet and clean place to stay in a great location with Hobart city. I stayed in a private room with a bathroom attached and it was great value. I have seen a lot of the world but nothing comes close to this stunning island with the friendliest people ever.
T. M.The hostel was not that central, it's about 15 minutes walking to the city center. Staff were helpful and will store bags while you are on tour or after checking out on your final day before heading off. The rooms were very clean as were the communal bathroom and our ensuite.
T. M.I have recently returned from a weeks stay at the hostel and thought it was a good hostel. We were able to stow our extra luggage there whilst on a week long hike. Minutes walk to the harbour made this hostel a good base for heading to MONA and the Sala***ca Market.
T. M.Keeps the place clean of grease regularly is to avoid the fire hazards, a fact ***y people tend to overlook. The hostel has rules about noise after 10pm which is great for people who have early morning tours and activities. The location is not too far from the centre of town.
J. D.Stayed in a queen room with ensuite. Room was excellent. Bed was comfortable and the room had everything we needed. I loved the large window facing the bed.
All facilities were made available to us, but we didn't use any of them. Would stay here again. Good value for money.

M.The location is convenient for the airport shuttle bus and a short walk to the pub and city centre for buying food etc. Mum kept raving on how clean it was and I loved the bright and cheery decor. My daughter was reading quietly and I was sleeping at 12am but the young *** from the reception just bang at our door and shouted at us.

T. G.Pretty central location. Dorm was clean, pretty basic (someone snored, but obviously not the hostel's fault). Prices were fairly expensive as we were here during a busy time of the year.

I was a bit disappointed to hear this because of the good reviews. I think perhaps greater attention to details could be given in this area. Wifi was not too hot either!

I. L.I'm an Aussie traveling around Australia and stayed at this lovely Hostel for a week when I first arrived in Hobart on the 2nd of April 2014.
Owners / Staff - All very nice and friendly giving advice where possible.
Dorms - 10 bed, 8 bed, 6 bed to hotel room style (ensuites) as well as offering mixed or Female only. There are options to suit. It is an old building. They are kept clean and sanitized daily.
Bathrooms... although some use a light sensor to turn on can be a bit of a challenge if you don't move around enough keep the lights on.
Toilets - Very clean also cleaned daily there is a good number of toilets available throughout the Hostel.
Showers - Also very clean you don't feel the need to wear thongs when using them. Cleaned daily and steady supply of hot water.
Kitchen - Very generous and the facilities (appliances) available, with ample fridge space.
Common areas - Inviting and a pleasure to use when dinning, surfing the net, watching TV, or even playing guitar (I play guitar).
Internet - Still on ADSL however that is not their choice. This Hostel appears to have the most reliable internet available. The network is set up very well to accommodate BYO devices or free use of the 2 desktops. You can also plug in or use Wi-Fi. It does become limited once upstairs but speaking from an IT Professional this is good quality.
Conclusion - If you travel to Hobart this should be your first choice or only choice in short term accommodation.
K. R.My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nonconsecutive nights. It was exceptional. On the first night we made seared snapper with broad beans, and mashed potatoes. Delicious! At first I was nervous that the skin of the fish had stuck to the pan and would be ruined, but I let it continue to cook over medium heat without disturbing it and it released its self and was perfectly crispy. On the second night we had a huge bowl of spaghetti with red sauce and garlic toast. It was way too much food for the both of us but we ate all if it anyway. We accompanied it with a bottle of local unoaked Chardonnay. It was pretty good. Drinkable.

M. H.Best backpacker's is probably the best in Hobart, in that the Italian owner is very nice and genuine, it is not like a typical backpackers where it is loud all the time on the opposite note it was very quiet and I really had a good experience there.
T. M.Location: Hobart hostel is located just 10 minute walk from the city centre and Sala***ca market. Honestly it's not a party hostel, I think most of the people staying here are up early for tours ect so expect a good nights sleep. We could not even sleep because of the noise.

Um 10 ist es wirklich sehr ruhig, die Küche ist recht sauber, die Zimmer sind etwas klein, aber ausreichend Ablage- und Stellfläche für Taschen, Backpacks und Kleidung.
Dusche und WC sind sehr sauber, kann ich empfehlen :)
