We stopped here a while back but always meant to do a review. Great position and many rooms have lovely views. Easy walking to most place - especially the marina - some good restaurants. Flew down so no idea about parking etc. But Hobart is a walking town. The markets were one thing we loved.

Every time I go to Tasmania, I stay at cheaper hotels. This time I decided to spend a little bit more money, and stay here. I can't go back to cheaper hotels.
The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was clean and roomy.
It was within walking distance of pretty much everything I wanted.
I'll always stay here from now on.

Had great experience staying here!
Was best in class experience comparing to many other hotels in Australia
Hotel & Rooms are very clean
Staff are extremely professional
Facilities are just amazing and spacious
Breakfast is also very good with lots of variety and fresh juice !
The coffee in the lounge was the best !

Very good hotel to stay. Clean, modern with all amenities and very well located. Staff was welcoming and friendly. A bit expensive but will recommend.

Wow 🤩
What a great experience, I think this the best place to stay in Hobart. Love it . Will be back for sure.
Spectacular harbour view, specially on new year, fireworks were front of our room.

I have stayed at HGC many times and never cease to be surprised at just how good an hotel it is. These days I am booked in my own name and I'm greeted as a regular, with courtesy and attention to detail. I've never had to remind them of my special requirements and nothing is too much trouble. The bar in the foyer is both relaxing and convenient for a snack and drinks plus great people watching in the heart of the Dock area. Convenient to everywhere, a great place to stay in Hobart.

I stayed here for 3 nights during my Hobart visit. The hotel is in perfect location and has an amazing view. I replay enjoyed seeing the view. The rooms are spacious, tidy and comfortable. They offer wide range of pillows options for the comfort of guests, which I really enjoyed. I have attached few photos of view from the hotel.
I liked the option and concept of “Let’s go Green” which will definitely help to preserve the environment. The staff were very friendly and professional. The breakfast options in the hotel is amazing too. I enjoyed their breakfast every morning. The breakfast has really good menu options and is a buffet breakfast. It tasted amazing and I enjoyed the freshly pressed juice. The hotel is in a decent location and is very easy to catch taxis to airport or any other destinations. The hotel has small minibar options in the room with few options of drinks and snacks available, I liked this concept 😊.
I would definitely choose Grand Chancellor for my next visits too and this hotel will be the hotel of my choice for Hobart forever. Highly recommended this hotel if you are seeing for better hotel options in Hobart to make your trip memorable. Thanks to the amazing team members for such positive experience and warm hospitality 🙏

Stayed here last night and it was enjoyable & warm.
Reception staff were friendly.
Everything was clean and comfortable.
The pool and gym were both amazing and everything you need was very close within reach.
I would recommend staying here again.

What a great hotel. The views were amazing from our room on 17th floor with harbour views. The staff were proffesional and friendly . We had breakfast each day in the restaurant well worth it. Other the pool was great. So close to eveything will definately stay there again

You definitely want to stay here. Great room views. Complimentary drinks from the hotel. Big swimming area , sauna and Gym. Good staffs. Comfortable parking space and valet service. Highly recommended.

What a fantastic hotel experience! The staff here are absolutely wonderful. Professional, supportive, excellent service.
Highlights:
1. The view over the harbour/the River Derwent. There was a pedestal on our floor pointing out all different landmarks around Hobart. It's worth it to get the view.
2. The pillow menu: there is a menu of numerous pillow types that you can order to your room in unlimited quantities. Want to build a pillow fort? No worries. The friendly staff can bring you some firm pillows, perfect for pillow construction. The choice of pillows (LOTS of choices) also help for those of us who need a certain kind of pillow to sleep soundly. Don't worry. They definitely have your Cinderella fit pillow option here. You might even discover that your ultimate perfect pillow match is a pillow style you didn't even know about before. Get into it! Try them all!
3. Comfy thick towels: you can't fake comfy thick towels. These are the best. Soft, thick, and comfy. They really should be more celebrated in this hotel's advertising.
4. TV: the TV in our room was very large and modern.
5. Toilet brush delivery: we asked for a toilet brush and they happily delivered it. I recommend this. If you're having a romantic weekend - or any kind of weekend - in a hotel you really don't want to accidentally have poo stains and not be able to scrub them off. Very much a mood killer when that happens.😁💩
6. Fancy curtains: The windows in our room were gigantic and really celebrated the view. Sometimes you don't want the full view effect though. It might be too sunny, or you might want to soften things a little. There are balck out curtains and sheer curtains that you can use independently. I love the sheer ones for the day time. They look great in photos backgrounds, like the screens people often have in when shooting a film (I'm clearly not a film person, but I think this is a thing people do).
7. Robes: everyone gets a fresh looking and feeling robe when they arrive. It helps you relax.
8. Location: best location. Very central. It's where you want to be. Also quite close to the hospital if you're visiting someone there (obviously hoping you're not, but you never know and it's good to be comfy when you are).
Other great features: blow dryer, mini bar, nice kettle, comfy mattress, dimmable lights, climate control, modern marble, glamorous bathroom interior, pretty good shower pressure, $5 room service charge and pretty good 24hr menu. Also a great hotel gym and pool!
Areas for Development: Tub is a bit small. Rooms could benefit from having a microwave in them so guests can heat up leftovers from all the room service they order. 😉

Very clean, comfortable and friendly. Able to walk to local restaurants and local tourist spots. 10 minute walk to Salamanca. Would definitely recommend

I never leave a review but I couldn't not ,the staff here have been the nicest ,friendliest and happy people ,I have my 3 year old daughter with me and they have been amazing with her making her feel like a little queen going out of there way to help and chat to her it's been a very enjoyable stay it will be my go to from now on ☺️

Fantastic stay, great staff, very friendly and helpful, room was clean and bed very comfortable, $10 parking underneath a night, very secure, walking distance to everything we needed
A. S.
Fantastic location with 180c view to the harbour .
Very spacious room and clean. The best coffee in Hobart. Staff were nice polite and friendly. $10 a day guest parking on the basement, easy access. Very much enjoy my stayed.
C. S.
A great location, lovely views and bed were very comfortable with a nice selection of pillows. I'd definitely stay again. When I booked I enquired about parking advised I was advised it is available however not advised of fees that apply. Other than this I found it a nice stay.
L. R.
Great position on the waterfront. Beds very comfy, room heating adjustable and the valet service excellent. Also breakfast in our room was a very relaxed start to our day. Would love to have stayed longer.
C. D.
Fantastic location and views across the harbour. Rooms were spacious and beds very comfortable (even with the option of choosing your favourite type of pillow). The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.

Awesome hotel, staff were wonderful welcoming and very kind. Location is perfect. Exploring Hobart from here was fantastic. This hotel was perfect in every way.
T. R. F.
Went a couple of years back and was strangely unforgettable. The staff were so friendly, not to mention they would clean the room and make your beds while your out during the day! Everything was clean and kept sanitary. The buffet was amazing too, definitely the best hotel I’ve ever been to. Highly recommend
k. m.
Wow amazing place to stay. Central to shopping, Salamanca, restaurant with amazing views. Pool to relax and gym to workout with mountain views. Love the way they put you first. Try the breakfast menu nothing better than starting the day being served delicious food.
J. M.
We took my grandchildren to high tea today in the Atrium. It was wonderful. There were 2 adults, 13, 12, 11, 2 yo. They did not charge for the 2 year old but gave her great service and a baby cappa. It was a great experience, food wonderful, service and setting was great. The cost was better than other high teas and more choice. The waitress was so nice and thoughtful. I would definately recommend this to anyone. Thank you staff at the Grand Chancellor Hobart.
J. C.
Great location, right on Constitution Dock. Very friendly and professional staff. Super comfortable and well appointed room. great spot for our two days in Hobart exploring. Close to everything. High Speed Wi-Fi. Nice meal in the Atrium bar with the amazing view over the harbour. We hope to stay with you again.

I have just completed a 16 day stay at the hotel and couldn’t be happier. The hotel is in a great location with beautiful views of the harbour. Rooms are clean and spacious, great facilities and friendly, professional and super accomodating staff. Would highly recommend Hotel Grand Chancellor for your stay in Hobart.

Loved our recent stay at Hobart Grand Chancellor. Staff, the room and the facilities were all of a very high standard.
The buffet breakfast was scrumptious and it was so nice to be back at a buffet after the restrictions during COVID-19. Everything ran very smoothly with the highest standards of hygiene being expected of us while we filled our plates with goodies.
We loved our stay so much that, following our circuit of Tassie, we have cancelled our booking at another hotel and rebooked the Grand Chancellor. Can't give better feedback than that!!!
A.
Excellent for buffet breakfast and rooms are great, fabulous pool and small gym, undercover parking with a few 6 steps down to carpark, room service is amazing and worth the small cost.
Fast checkout and reception are very friendly and helpful with any requests, my favourite place to stay
B. G.
Had a great stay at the Hotel Grand Chancellor. Location is A1 with plenty of restaurants, bars and Salamanca Markets within easy walking distance. Staff were very friendly, lovely clean hotel
D. H.
It was a lovely night away from home. The bed was huge and very comfortable. We didn't get to try the restraunt or Cafe. Staff were friendly and polite. Will definitely return.
Y. A.
Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart will now be our hotel of choice whenever we visit Hobart - we really enjoyed our stay there! Great location, excellent room - spacious with plenty of powerpoints, comfy bed.
s. t.
Great location, good sized, well presented rooms, wharf views are spectacular.
K. P.
Good hotel conveniently located within walking distance to the CBD. Plus the views are amazing if your room is facing the harbour where you can capture the sunrise.
N. B.
Most comfortable bed, great pool, the service was excellent at the late night bar, nice harbour view, pity in the morning there was a quick knock and instantly an attendant walked right in without notice to fill mini bar at 10am, lucky we were fully clothed just watching tv.
P. S.
Very good service. Sauna and gym facilities available. The bar in the downstairs lobby is also good. Highly recommended.
V. M.
Fantastic Place. Neat, clean and hygiene. Gym facility added bonus. Close to cafes. Awesome staff and great views.
M.
Stayed here for a few nights. Room was clean, spacious, made up nicely by the cleaners. Really liked having the pillow menu option, even though we didn’t need to use it! Bed was very comfortable and felt like a home away from home.
Heated pool was nice. Would have a great view during the day.
Also, every staff member we came across was absolutely lovely and so helpful.

Amazing buffet breakfast & spacious rooms. Amazing staff, highly recommend.
M. W.
Room and service very good parking good as well but music was playing until late but then the views made up for that.
A. l.
Lovely Experience, rooms incredibly clean, great facilities. This is the first time staying here but we will definitely be back.
C. M.
Above and beyond customer service when you first arrive at reception. Everything was perfect and the room was amazing with a fantastic view of Hobart harbour!!! I'll definitely be back again:)
K. L.
Great location and very comfortable rooms. No hesitation in staying again.
M. M.
Great location with wonderful views. I love their pillows - sleeping came easily after a busy holiday.
A. O.
We stayed one night here and it was fabulous. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for accommodation in the city of Hobart. It is very central and in walking distance of some of the best restaurants in the city. The room was large and spacious, very clean and had a magnificent view over the water. The customer service was excellent. The car park easy and safe. Getting to the hotel is tricky as it is a one way street and you are at the entry driveway quickly. The bed was so comfortable as were the pillows. A great place to stay.
J. C.
Love having coffee or high tea with friends in the afternoon in the glass atrium of this Hobart landmark on the waterfront. Highly recommend!
m. m.
Good staff, good rooms, excellent views of the harbour, close to everything.
A. W.
Fantastic family stay, easily within walking distance of many of Hobarts treasures, including the Salamanca market. Can't wait to stay again.
H. L.
Very nice hotel. Great meals, car parking available and great staff
B. G.
A brilliant hotel in the most convenient location. The only place to stay in Hobart. Our second stay and we will be back!

Wow this hotel is amazing right across the road from the harbour the staff are so accommodating house keeping is spectacular nothing is to much trouble.
J. R.
The location is fabulous, the room clean and beautifully presented and the view to die for. Staff were friendly, available and thoughtful. Food at the restaurant was delicious. Lounge areas were more than comfortable and parking available at a very reasonable rate. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
S. K. M.
Ambience and fantastic helpful staff. The atrium is a great place to meet for coffee or cocktails!
D. O.
A hotel that has had its day. Well located but not worth the $500 a night charged during Syd Hobart period, the value is simply not there.
A. M.
Nice room with very comfortable king bed, huge TV, amazing room service meals.
s. r. s.
great service, friendly staff, even with an issue it was resolved asap and beautiful location near lots of dinner places. will stay here again(:

Hotel Grand Chancellor hands down THE MUST stay place when you're in Hobart. They were very accommodating to all our needs no matter how demanding/'nit-picky' our requests were. All the staff were so lovely and always eager to help. Their beds, pillows are comfortable and their breakfast buffet has such good food ! Their heated pool was so nice to swim in even when it was cold outside, and their sauna just adds such a perfect touch. Shout out to Tom who arranged rooms for us to suit our needs and the Chef during the breakfast buffet who cooks such perfect omelettes!
E. O.
The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We were forced to isolate due to being a casual contact of a COVID case in the airport on the way to Hobart. They really made us feel cared for. The stay was helped by the great view and very comfortable room. The location is fantastic as you have great restaurants and attractions nearby.
J. P.
Can't recommend this place enough. Jemimah (hopefully I spelt her name correctly) went above and beyond to making our stay memorable. Best location, hotel has amazing views of the marina and close to everything!!!
L. M.
Nice rooms, couldn't get a room with a view so that was disappointing. Bed was not great, bath tiny - could barely fit and I'm only 5' 3". Shower over bath too tight even for smaller builds like me. Staff very helpful and professional. Rooms quiet. Cocktail bar - nice setting but some staff had no clue on drinks. Tasman bar for breakfast was good apart from all the oldies standing around talking at the top of their lungs (maybe they're deaf)
From Salamanca and downtown a flat 5-10 min walk.
G. M.
Amazing staff - arrived and the man said let me take your luggage to your room since their are stairs. Beautiful room with complementary biscuits and mentos. Pretty view! Amazing heated pool great for winter 💗💗 This hotel is just beautiful 💖💖💖💖💖💖
V. D.
Great spot, close to everything, hotel room was very comfortable and staff helpful and friendly.
M. H.
Friendly helpful staff. Fabulous location. Excellent gym facilities.
Going back on a week, loved the closeness to town and harbour.

Above and beyond.
Staff are beautiful. An excellent gentleman looked after us (Jameil ? ) Permitted us to do an early check in. Offered to hold our bags on check out without being prompted. Location is perfect. Rooms are well maintained and clean. Every time I stay here, I leave happy.
D. H.
Amazing hotel, central to Hobart and right across from the wharf with lots of dining options. Harry was our customer service agent, he was amazing. He gave us lots of great restaurant/bar venues to try and was so courteous. Overall, a great hotel and hope to come back for a 3rd time.
M. A.
We had an excellent stay at the Grand Chancellor Hobart. Staff was super friendly and very helpful. It had everything you would need. And the view on the harbour was breathtaking!
Thanks guys for this amazing stay.
R.
Great place to stay, Walking distance to everything. The staff go above and beyond to be very helpful. The rooms are really spacious and have everything you need to have an enjoyable stay. Free on site parking is also available
A. D.
Great location, staff are great. We got a dud room next to screaming children early in the morning. When we complained they handled it extremely well, found us a new room and moved everything for us while we were out. Great service. The bar and restaurant are good too.
S. O.
The location is so convenient, and we had an amazing view overlooking the harbour, the city and mountains from a far. The staff were very professional, Jason and Thomas(from the reception) were very helpful and went out of their way to attend to our needs, the full breakfast option was very diverse and i personally enjoyed every thing from the menu. I will definitely stay here again and again.
M. P.
Professional service, fantastic rooms with a view
D. A.
It’s nice. For $300 per night you sort of expect something a bit more special, but it’s as nice as anywhere else in Hobart I guess.
Very amenable view of the Harbour.
T. G.
Stayed here two nights, first night was on the 14th floor, room was large but way too much road noise/close to the hospital and plenty of sirens so we asked to be moved to a higher floor. Still noisy on the 20th. Staff were lovely and very professional, big thanks to the guy who took our bags to the room (twice).
M. A.
Had great experience with this hotel!
Rooms were clean and spacious with water views. Staff was polite and helpful. Superb location! Can't go wrong with this one!
J. K.
We stayed here for 4 nights. Location is fabulous walking distance to the city centre, salamanca and good restaurants. We had a harbour view room ,the view was lovely, the staff were friendly and helpful and the car parking was so easy. Would definitely recommend staying here.
M. B.
lovely hotel, great breakfast but liasing re more accomadating wheelchair accesability

Stayed two nights here as part of the cycling tour in Tasmania by All Trails. The room was very comfortable and spcious enough for good rest before stage 2 of the tour began. Comfy bed which was perfect for recovery. Food at the Tasman restaurant were excellent and nourishing after a long day on the saddle.
H. P.
We were a group of 5 ladies travelling together to celebrate our 50th birthdays. Our stay was exceptional in every way! From the friendly and very helpful Natalie on reception to James in concierge, the staff were always smiling, happy to book restaurants for us and impart all their local knowledge on where to go and what to do. We had such a wonderful time due to their recommendations. The rooms were well equipped, beds very comfortable and we enjoyed the various lounges where we could meet and have pre dinner drinks together. We also used the pool and gym facilities and found them clean and well equipped with fresh towels and equipment. We're not waiting another 10 years for our 60ths! Will be back as soon as we can.
V. Y.
Was there for the graduation but it is a great place for brunch or coffee as well.
J. L.
I stayed here with a tour group. We started our tour here with two nights in the beautiful Harbpur view rooms. We also had our last night there. What a great team they have here from the check-in staff, the room attendants, restaurant staff, bar staff and the boys in the lobby. Every department was very efficient. I had trouble with my television and had a young man in my room within minutes to fix the problem.
Cannot praise the staff here highly enough.
h.
Great place to stay. So close to city centre only few walks from shops
A. V.
beautiful! got a free room upgrade and some free sparkling apple juice as a complimentary birthday gift from them! even got a cute lil birthday card!! super super helpful and friendly staff, i cannot stress enough on how much i love this hotel.
S. M.
One of the best located Hotels in Hobart! Close to the key Tourist Sites and close to great restaurants; markets and shopping.
L. M.
Good room, fairly spacious, good views from the window and close to the city and wharf. However, we asked for a quiet room, they put in a family and kids in the room above us and they just ran around making banging noises Ionnour ceiling for the 4 days we stayed. Really loud and annoying. Complained and were told they would move us if it were a problem, so we just had to put up with the noise. Not a pleasant stay. Then noise from the traffic outside was bad enough, but those kids thumping around were unbearable.
W.
Such a wonderful experience at this hotel lovely room, comfortable beds, nice and clean and a beautiful breakfast buffet! Stunning views and kind and friendly staff! Highly recommended
T. S.
Great location river view room was very good except for overhead shower in bath. Not user friendly and certainly dangerous for the elderly or someone with disabilities. Excellent friendly staff in the lounge area. Parking on site easy and inexpensive.
N. P.
Excellent customer service, great room, perfect view and fantastic position.
G. D.
Ok this was our second stay at the grand chancellor Hobart. The room was clean and tidy, the view of constitution dock was excellent. The breakfast in the morning in the restraunt was all very good. The staff as before were all very polite, helpful, and pleasant to deal with, all very good job.
L. N. (.
Best place to stay in Hobart. Well priced. Beautiful harbour views and easy walking to everything. Lovely staff at front desk.
A. D.
Fantastic views, awesome room, great facilities, food and services and helpful, friendly staff. Our special treat of sparkling upon check-in was a lovely surprise.
M. R.
Location is amazing for this hotel, right on the waterfront. Staff are helpful and friendly.
The rooms are a good space and well furnished however it was surprising not to have a safe in the room for your valuables.
Breakfast selection is decent with a variety of healthy and not so healthy options.
The fitness area is not really suited for this size of hotel with only 5 cardio machines available.
C. B.
Loved this hotel! Right on the waterfront with beautiful sunrise views in the morning and views of the sailing in the evening. I stayed for a conference and the staff were absolutely amazing and the whole hotel vibe was casual elegance. Touches like the beautiful local art and fantastic room service added to the experience. I also loved the relaxing spots dotted around the hotel and the indoor pool . Would definitely stay here again.
W. Y.
Brilliant location and view, great service. highly recommended
T. b.
Lovely location. Beautiful views over constitution dock. Very friendly helpful staff. The only down side is the traffic is a little noisy on a weekday. Would definitely stay here again.
O. F.
Staff are amazing! Such great customer service. Rooms are nice with great water views! Nice heated pool. The restaurant has delicious food. I am always happy everytime I come and stay here.. Never let down.
N. K.
We had 3 nights here after a long time flying. We booked the marina view room which didn't disappoint. Terrific to look out over the boats, great position to visit the bars and restaurants. Hotel breakfast was a great start to the day, still leaving room for that coffee and muffin after walking.
P. K.
This lovely hotel is situated across the road from Victoria Doc with beautiful views of the ocean and Hills on one side and Mountains and city on the other. We were here for 4 nights for a work conference. The staff are very friendly and the service was excellent. The venue itself catered very well for the functions held. The buffet breakfast was very well catered and included an egg station and free pot tea and percolated coffee. With the option of charging a latte, flat white or cappuccino to the room. The rooms themselves were clean and well maintained. I would recommend this hotel if staying in Hobart.
S. Z.
We wanted to stay here over Easter but it was all booked out however we decided to visit the hotel on our stay in Hobart. Harry gave us a tour of the hotel facilities & my partner & I were very impressed. Look forward to staying here next time.
K. E.
Spacious rooms with great views. Clean and comfortable accomodation with everything we needed. The pool was a big hit with my 9 year old.
D. M.
A great place to stay with friendly and helpful staff :)
B.
Wow, nice, got a cheap room ($150) and I was well rested, room was clean with a nice super king bed with great big pillows, oh yes it was nice with amazing views. I don't normally drink, but I thought I'd try some cocktails in the bar area, lesson learnt not to mix milk based with citrus based, the cocktails were done very nice and cost around $20-$30 each. Swimming pool, gym, sauna I enjoyed, I should have spend more time there but I was already to tipsey. The downside, room service food a average selection, ended up buying the cheese burger, didn't like it and milkshake yuk, don't waste your money on those. Overall, I'd go back.
C. G.
Very nice accommodation.
Staff very helpful and pleasant.
Restaurant food very good.
Would definately stay again...

Awesome location, beautiful views and great service.. can't fault anything..Truly value for your money. They even wished us with a champagne and greeting card being our 10th anniversary.. Thanks. We will be back again.
P. T.
Came here for our wedding anniversary. Got complimentary champagne when we arrived. Amazing concierge and friendly and very professional and always greets you. They have a heated pool, gym and a sauna. Rooms are all kept tidy with an amazing view of the harbour right across the road. If I could... I'll rate this hotel a 6 star. Highly recommended.
M. C.
Lovely outlook if your lucky enough to get a harbour view. Nice bar area as well and the staff were very efficient and friendly. Only point of mention was that after booking and paying for the room the room prices dropped. After mentioning this we were advised they couldn't discount the room but would upgrade us. We booked directly with the hotel as well and not through a booking service to ensure the hotel didn't need to pay any fees but alas on receiving our keys there was no upgrade with a room overlooking Hobart Hospital at the rear. Therefore our return night 3 days later was spent at the Mac q across the road.
J. Z.
Love this place , so friendly, amazing location, a lovely feel to the whole place!!!!! Wouldn't stay anywhere else!!!!!!!
S. B.
Fabulous hotel - great rooms, awesome facilities, super comfortable beds, beautiful views, perfect position, reasonably priced. The staff are absolutely wonderful. When we checked in, I told the lovely receptionist that my mother and I had come down from Sydney for my mother’s birthday and when we returned from our day’s adventures there was a delicious bottle of sparkling wine and a card in her room. A very thoughtful touch that made our trip even more special. Definitely recommended. Thank you for having us!
M. H.
Lovely accommodation. Not a bad thing to say about the hotel. It was clean, comfortable and all staff were very friendly.
O.
Stunning location and views. Beautiful, clean rooms held to a high standard. Delicious food. Friendly staff.
J. R.
Beautiful and clean hotel. Staff are super friendly and helpful and the views are absolutely stunning!! I was upset when it was time to go home and I'm a true home body!!
J. K.
The staff are amazing. Polite and go the extra mile. The rooms are spacious. Pillow selection available. Room service menu has a great selection. Bar area on ground floor beautifully set out. And breakfast was excellent, the bacon cooked just right. We will be staying again...
S. R.
Lovely hotel right next to constitution dock
G. P.
Great location and lovely hotel. But 1. Informed we were honeymooners but no acknowledgment perhaps it's old fashioned to expect that now days, 2. Requested a little later check out with adverse response. I know this is not always possible as they have other guests to check in get the room ready etc but it could have been handled better without the flat "no" felt like I was disrupting their day for asking. It's okay to say it's not possible but politely. Otherwise the breakfast was amazing and so too generally the staff. Don't let my little negatives stop you from booking because you should. It's a really fine hotel that has many wonderfull aspects.
D. G.
Location! Great Views! Spectacular Food. Wonderful room. Great Service! Thankyou we look forward to seeing you again!
A. S.
Some of the most friendly service in Tasmania. Great staff. See Felix for the best Toblerone cocktail in Tasmania...awesome. Restaurant was brilliant....food and service set the benchmark for what others should strive for.

Fantastic Rooms And Excellent Services
D. B.
Excellent place to stay. Staff were friendly on arrival and we were offered an upgrade for $20. The room was nice and comfortable with a great view. We ordered room service just after 10pm and the staff managed to provide meals on the day menu. Checkout staff were lovely offering assistance take gear to car and offering sightseeing ideas. Overall its nice hotel with wonderful staff and I would recommend staying here.
B. W.
I have only been to the cocktail bar in recent times, but it has lovely open glass providing a lovely outlook over Hobarts waterfront 👌
L. M.
This hotel has great views of the marina and harbour. Staff are super helpful and professional. I liked the indoor pool and sauna too. However, the rooms are very outdated and the bathrooms are small, badly designed and uncomfortable. The downstairs bar is brightly lit and has no charm or character. Which is a shame because the bar staff are brilliant.
C. B.
Lovely place to stay in Hobart...
Highly recommend...
F. K.
Great location, we hired a car however we only used it once! All of our activities were within a 10 minute walk away. The hotel itself is quite nice. We were offered a free upgrade upon arrival and the rooms are quite sizeable. The bathrooms do seem a little outdated and the shower/bath is small. Overall I had a good experience here and would come again.
A. I.
The star of this hotel is the that offers a well equiped gym with brand new equipment and variety of machinery to do a full body workout. Sauna and pool are great. The restaurant offers very good quality food
D. M.
Comfortable and plush. Good size rooms. Attentive staff. Great spot. Highly recommended.
T. B.
Very friendly staff on check in and check out. My room had a wonderful city view and was very clean and quite. Bathroom was modern and very clean.
Right across the road is the main Wharf with lots of cheap and expensive food options. Very short and easy walk up in to the CBD. Highty recommend.

good price the package. very nice and warm welcome from receptionist as I walk in. after checking the room we reserved earlier we didnt get enough view from the hotel, so I walk back down to change the room. another receptionist served me with a smile and over me some discount to upgrade my room. stay there for 2 night with amazing harbour view. they also have fresh cook breakfast.
F. F.
Wow, the room was gorgeous, quiet & breakfast buffet was definitely on point! We are vegan & the Chef had no problem frying us a selection of all vegetables with no cheese or egg. It was delicious on some toasted bread!! The gym had excellent facilities (including free weights), heated pool & sauna was clean. Staff from check in, concierge & buffet were ALL lovey and friendly!! This stay exceeded our expectations. THANKYOU!
M. L.
Loved it! Very helpful staff, very clean facilities, the rooms felt a little due for a spruce up but very accommodating. We have a toddler and they offered a crib, it was raining and they offered free umbrellas. 5 mins walk to anything you need in Hobart.

I have been lucky enough to spend two splendid weeks at Hotel Grand Chancellor. I got plenty of time to inspect all corners of my room (#quarantine, #covid) and can guarantee the room is of high standard (Thanks heaps Tas Gov). Sadly, I can't say much about outside of my room. The staff has always been very helpful and caring with me, it would have been a pleasure to meet them though instead of talking via phone... oh well... not their fault... next time! Special mention to the security staff who always managed to keep me in my room. I highly recommend this Hotel to anyone, especially outside covid times.
T. J.
Beautiful iconic hotel, on top of that, staff is very nice with smile and friendly, absolutely visit again in the future, let me save more money first 😂
T. M.
excellent location, very friendly staff with helpful attitude. Environment is very nice and relaxing. Very convenience location with ***y nice resturant just opposite. Supermarket can be within 15 mins walking distance, very easy to walk to …
T. M.
The free conference wifi didn't extend to the rooms but the conference facilities were good. We sat in our room with sunglasses on every morning from sunrise with spectacular colours in the sky. Great way to get around and this option really added value to my stay there. Great views too and location is fabulous.
a. c.
Room was decent size, everything provided. Staff appear to go above and beyond to meet your needs.
Hotel accomodated for my large 4x4 and gave me a side parking space so that I would not scratch my car or ruin there pipes.
Shower had a bit of smell coming from plug hole when first used, but soon dissipated. Joined grand chancellor club for FREE and will definitely stay again in any grand chancellor.
A. L.
Comfortable and spacious rooms. Good shower pressure but rain shower-head position wasn’t done well - water will splash out of the shower-over-bath onto the tiled floor; which is dangerous when slippery! So you’ll have good use of the extra towels..
Unfortunately mountain-view rooms on 12th floor means facing apartment blocks (not mountains). Location is great - just on the waterfront. Parking is not complimentary -$9 for overnight park.
T. R.
Excellent hotel. Great service from Kieran who allowed us to check in at 10.30am, even though we were over four hours early. Terrific view of harbour from our room. Great indoor swimming pool, an sauna. Comfy room.
C. V.
Fabulous location right on the waterfront - while a harbor view room cost more it was definitely worth it for the spectacular day and evening views. The amenities were modern and clean and the king size bed had both a comfortable mattress and pillows. Highly recommended.
H. J.
First time at the Grand Chancellor in Hobart and our dining experience was extremely good. The range of food on the menu easily catered for our group of six and the food was great and well presented. Service was excellent and the restaurant was comfortable. However, beware of sitting next to the windows in winter as it did get cold for two of our group. The hotel's location near the waterfront offers some great views during daylight hours. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and happy to recommend it to others.
A. C.
Nice clean rooms. Lovely service. Most comfortable bed ever!! Highly recommended
m.
My room at the Grand Chancellor was very comfortable and I enjoyed my stay there. It is a good location for sightseeing if you only have a few hours per day to get out. Nearby restaurants and coffee shops make up for a lack of variety at the in-house restaurant.
T. M.
Best location with the best harbour view.Walking distance to Sala***ca market and harbour. Hotel pickup for most day tour. Nice suite with big window facing the harbour... Sunrise view is amazing. Staff is very friendly. Room nice and clean.
J. B.
Beautiful atmosphere. Amazing food. Friendly, helpful, happy and attentive staff.
Thank you for catering to our special diet guests. It was a very special afternoon.
P. H.
Staff were courteous, attentive and assisted us with our conference so it ran smoothly. Rooms were beautiful, food fantastic. This is the second time we have stayed here, not looking anywhere else when we return.
J. M.
Used the hotel for 3 days. Love the gym and the pool although it is not big. Competitive rate. Beautiful view especially you are at higher level. It will be perfect if the gym temperature can be a little lower.
T. M.
The rooms had been undergoing an upgrade a few months ago but we stayed in an older room. The shower recess was small with no door so water seemed to go everywhere. The town is a short walk from the hotel. Staff pleasant and tried to help. …
l.
The ideal location and view of the harbour was what made this Hotel a five for me. All our activities were just a short walking distance away. The Salamanca markets (which is definitely worth having a look), ferry, museum, local restaurants, pubs, shops were all close by which saved us a lot of travel time. The hotel itself was relatively nice, facilities were decent and the staff were informative. My only comment would be the bathroom design could have flowed better, I felt a bit cornered with how the door was placed, otherwise a pleasant stay.
D. R.
Excellent central city location. Spacious, clean, well appointed rooms with views from every window. Friendly & obliging staff. Wonderful restaurant festuring local produce. Great bar staffed by skilled bartenders. Easy car parking. Worth it in every way!
R. L.
Very good hotel that meet at least 4star standard. Good breakfast with variety of choice. Modern rooms clean and tidy. Gym and heated pool available. Excellent location opposite the harbour and walkable distance to Salamanca Place.
P. G.
Great view of harbour. Really friendly staff,
P. G.
Adrian made our stay here fantastic. Great service. Rooms are a bit out if date but well kept. We brought some local cheese at the markets - beware no cutlery or plates in the rooms. Also the shower / short bath combos may be restrictive to some people. Staff in general are very helpful. The attached Tasman restaurant is not amazing, the food around the waterfront / salamanca is much more pleasing.
E. #.
Right on the historic Constitution Dock and within easy walking distance to the Salamander Market. The Hotel is clean and my room was spacious with fantastic views of the dock area. Highly recommend.
S. A.
Every aspect of our stay from check in to check out was great!
Every one of the staff members we came in contact with were lovely, polite and accommodating!
What an amazing experience we had here and made our time in Hobart so much more enjoyable!
Thanks so much all, we will be back in the future!
P. N.
This is a great hotel , with great service in a great location in a great town. But a poor night’s sleep cost them a star. Don’t book room 1015 or anything close by. Hotel lobby music blared all night through our room door on a “set timing” as i was informed at 5am by the night concierge. I will definitely return to this hotel, but will insist on a room on the other side of the building. Can I suggest to management to at least play a couple of lullabies?
G. M.
A great hotel in a prime location, easily accessible to the CBD and directly opposite the waterfront precinct.
A good sized room, clean, comfortable beds and well appointed.
Excellent breakfast.
The view over the waterfront precinct was spectacular.
Onsite parking is available (at additional cost) - with Hobart's love of one-way streets just check how to access the car park at the rear of the Hotel from Macquarie St.
D. Y.
Very modern hotel but parking is expensive.
T. M.
I booked our Harbour View room with the hotel directly and the young *** I spoke to could not have been more helpful. My husband is getting into sailing again and we loved looking at the twilight yacht race from our room. The staff at the …
T. M.
A very convenient location for business and access to Constitution Dock. Did get to go to MONA on the ferry which was excellent. Service exceptional in hotel and throughout Hobart. Booked directly with the hotel on the phone and got a good rate. I would highly recommend this place and cant wait to come back.
G. H.
Upgraded me to waterfront view, appreciated :)
Double charged for mini bar without my knowledge onto credit card... they have now reversed but more care should be taken before just charging peoples cards once they have left...
New staff member was very slow to complete checkout, but very apologetic as it was her first evening on her own.
Nice rooms, convenient location, would recommend
S.
Fantastic hotel, sophisticated and great atmosphere overlooming the waterfront. Xmas time and during the Taste of Tassie and Sydney to Hobart yacht race is magical. The staff so kind, friendly and professional. First class service. Love this hotel a credit to the staff and team.
T. M.
The room price was around $250.00 per night which I thought was fantastic value considering the position and presentation of the hotel. The conference facilities are very good. Unfortunately I had the same girl on checkout with the same 'I am too good to be serving you' attitude as I had on previous occasions.
E. H.
The view was wonderful. The staff and rooms were first class. The hotel is right in the middle of everything.
C. W.
Had a wonderful time here, great customer service from the front desk staff to the restaurant staff. Stayed in the king suite room overlooking the harbour. Would definitely recommend. It was also our anniversary they sent up a bottle of champagne to our room .
T. R.
Comfortable hotel but a bit dated and lacks flair. Great pool but a missed opportunity to make the pool area more exciting
K. Z.
Highly recommended hotel if you are visiting Hobart. The staffs are so nice and helpful. The rooms are spacious and definitely worth the money, not to mention the great view from the hotel. Prime location, everything in walking distance. Also offers overnight parking at a very reasonable rate for travellers renting a car.
H. B.
Had high tea here today, which was extremely delicious, very comfortable and inexpensive. The service that we received from our host Tim was excellent. He was attentitive but not intrusive at all. We will definitely be back!
T. M.
A very good experience with my mum here - well presented, easy to navigate and nice views. The pool being heated is an awesome idea since tasmania is so cold most of the time.
The breakfast is phenomenal.
T. M.
Small size rooms. The room appeared to be very clean but we did discover a lot of dust as we were packing up which explained our sniffles. Cheaper and more convenient than relying on taxis. I would definitely stay again but would ask for a room on a higher floor.
U. F.
Stayed at the Hotel Grand Chancellor for a quick weekend away, facilities were great and staff very helpful. Close to all the major attractions around Hobart and would recommend this Hotel to others. After a busy day enjoyed the fantastic food in the restaurant and drinks by the fire .
F. W.
We absolutely loved our stay, the pool is great and the gym looks great. Food is amazingThe staff are very friendly and so helpful, it's so close to the restaurants & markets we are going back at the end of our holiday.l will tell all my friends to come to visit.
D. C.
Great location, very clean and modern, decent gym and lovely pool. The bed and pillows were absolutely amazing, like sleeping on a cloud. Best room service I've ever had.
L. M.
Presentation and atmosphere of the venue was very good. Friendly staff and very generous service. Good location overlooking bay. Only drawback would have to be the food: Meals were quite ordinary and improper knives were given for steak.
s.
The staff could not have helped us anymore. I have never experienced such high levels of service in the hotel industry. We had a trailer that was too big for the underground car park and the concierge came to the rescue - problem solved.
The shower - amazing !
View - spectacular
Location - wow
Staff - simply the best .
We will be making a point of staying here again.
E. C.
Our stay here was absolutely amazing, the staff were so helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and a great size. Stayed here with my family and we will definitely stay here again when in Hobart next.
A.
Attended a large corporate function at the Hotel Grand Chancellor the other day. Gone are the days when this venue was outdated and tacky. A vast renovation has taken place aimed at bringing this venue up to date. The function rooms are looking tidy and have all received new paintwork which compliments the decade we're in rather than a bygone era as many of their past renovations once reflected. The Atrium bar is looking amazing with its own renovation and the service is now top notch. The accommodation rooms have also received a much needed upgrade to right the wrongs of the past management's so called upgrades. This establishment is definitely back on track and looking amazing!
G. W.
Service and the room was fantastic would have been nicer to have been offered the waterfront room instead of the cranes the major problem with my son with special needs room service denied reheating his dietary food for his diabetes their excuse was health and safety. In other words we didn't buy the food from them and that direction came from the manager of the hotel he offered us a microwave at the end of the conversation but it seemed to much trouble even for him. The bottom line, if u have a child with special needs the is NOT the hotel for you.
K. F.
Great location. Worth paying the extra for the king rooms. Restaurant is very good for a meal and breakfast.
P. M.
Stayed for 4 nights. Buffet breakfast fantastic, sometimes hard to find clean table or to get a pot of tea. But in all fairness we were in a group of 150 people. All staff in all facets were helpful and couldnt do enough for you.
T. D.
Fantastic Hobart Harbour views. Fine dining in Tasman Restaurant. Great pool and fitness centre. Helpful, friendly staff.
F. L.
Loved it. Excellent service. Rooms were neat. Location was very centric to places we visited in the city and all in walking distance. Highly recommend this Hotel.
J. J.
Fancy. Excellent and friendly service. Happy to forgoe fine dining as long as the staff are genuinely friendly and they were. There was also fine dining. Beautiful location, stunning views!!!
A.
The location is fantastic. It is close to Salamanca and the city. The hotel is modern. It has 24 hours room service. The rooms are modern and comfortable. My room had a great view.
L. S.
I attended a conference my work puts on every year. This year it was being held in Hobart at The Hotel Grand Chancellor. I'm not sure how to accurately describe how amazing the experience was. The attentiveness and professionalism the staff showed towards us was above and beyond their positions. The rooms were clean, large and always serviced, I had a view of the mountain which was great to wake to every day. The conference ran so smoothly in part to the dedication of the hotel and staff in every department. I can't wait to come back to Hobart on personal vacation and stay again.
K.
The hotel staff were really nice from the reception to the cleaners. The hotel is in a good spot very central to the piers and a close walk to Salamanca markets. The room was really nice with comfortable beds and pillows. The only downside was a shower on bath which I personally don't like and that TV is super old. It doesn't have a tv guide on it and you can't cast your device or anything like that. Though the tv should be a small priority when travelling. The traffic noise can also be a bit annoying in the mornings.
P. W.
Ugly exterior belies the spacious modern lobby, bar and restaurant. Good value accommodation and unbeatable location.
D. C.
Clean, close to the main Hobart attractions, with a function gym and access to waterfront. Restaurant seemed good though I didn't peruse it. Room was big, clean and had some great views of city and Mt Wellington. Would stay again.
D. M.
Stunning views great staff and spacious rooms! Immaculate housekeeping, everything is as expected by a large hotel chain.
Our room was facing the docks, a must to view the harbour. Traffic noise was barely noticeable. TIP - get the $9 a day parking downstairs.
The only downside was that sometimes the parking can get a bit full - you can park anywhere but patrons and public that visit the Tasman restaurant share the same carpark area.
And...... No lift to the carpark, we made the mistake of hauling 2 large suitcases up 2 flights of stairs to the lobby... 😂
M. P.
The room was very suitable, bed was really comfortable but the most amazing service was from the desk staff and porters. William, Thomas and Eddy were very helpful with all my requests and enquiry. Unfortunately the female desk staff were not very friendly or helpful.
C. M.
love this hotel great location staff super helpful Jason is a fantastic concierge/receptionist/porter extraordinaire. pool is perfect temperature.
A. F.
Servings were way to small, ended up having a second dinner when I got home and I was charged for sparkling water without being told which annoyed me because they should have said it was charged but they didn't, they said tap or sparkling so I assumed it was in the free category... and it was $6.00 for a glass. Other than that the service was pretty good (food came quickly) the waitress wasn't friendly or helpful at all, but rather awkward and abrupt, almost rude. The food tasted great though and the view was beautiful and it was fairly quiet. We used the entertainment book and they didn't scratch the back off meaning we could use it again which was really nice. It was a 50/50 experience. Some good some bad.
L. M.
The staff couldnt do enough 2 help.
Welcoming & polite, nothing was any trouble for them.
Lovely, clean, spacious hotel.
The breakfast was superb, so fresh & lots of variety.
We were looked after each morning ny the same waitress.
Her name was Tarnia, she went over & beyond with her customer service.
She greated us with a smile everyday, delightful.
Would return again & again.

An excellent hotel located steps from the famous Hobart harbour. The rooms were very large. The bathroom well laid out. The TV was a bit tricky to use for some reason with the volume set not to go higher than what one could barley hear. The restaurant in the hotel looked good and had a tempting menu, unfortunately we had other plans for the evenings. We did however stroll across the street from the hotel to the barges moored along the harbour peer which had interesting food offerings. We patronized the gelato ice cream barge every evening for a delicious gelato and walk about. The hotel had some interesting gift shops. We spotted an item one morning before we went out but the store was closed. It was also going to close before we returned. Staff at the hotel reached out to the owner of the store. When we got back to our room that evening there was a letter from a staff member with the business card of the store owner and a note that he would come back and open the store for us. We called the owner and he was fortunately still in the store though it was closed so we went down and did our shopping. If your in Hobart, this is the place to stay. Its also a very short walk to the high street shopping area.
A. R.
Service was excellent but the fixtures have aged a bit now and I would expect due for a bit of a refresh. The bed was great, by far my favorite bed on the trip and you can select what type of pillow you prefer which is a massive bonus, the internet provided was also excellent. That being said the air conditioning didn't heat the room up while we were there one night, and the TV in the room is relatively old and cheap by today's standards. Given that they're asking for some $30 to access their movie library on there it seems a little odd. The picture quality is terrible. We couldn't see the AFL scores as the picture hadn't been adjusted correctly. But if you're not going to use it much then it won't bother you much. The fundamentals are very good. Service, bed and cleanliness was all there.
K. D.
We had Christmas Lunch. Couldn't fault a thing. Setting was beautiful. Food was faultless. Replenished efficiently. Staff professional, friendly and accommodating. Best Christmas we have EVER had. Thank you to all Staff and Chef. So classy.
S. O.
Great hotel
Vwry friendly staff
L. L.
Aside from location, the rooms are still using prehistoric air conditioning systems in the room which do not regulate the temperature so well. Tried turning lower but would not move below 25/26°. Will recommend to try another hotel before the Chancellor.
Room service was 1.5 hrs late so got it for free.
P. M.
Terrific place to stay. Excellent location with beautiful views.
Excellent amenities and brilliant staff that go out of their way to ensure you have a relaxing stay.
M. F.
Great place to stay always. Great time with my family ang fantastic staff
T. M.
I chose the Grand Chancellor due to its convenient location to the CBD. Had a city view room on the 20th floor. Great service, very clean. The hotel was ok for the price we paid for it, but if I returned to Hobart, I'd probably stay somewhere newer.
A. Y.
It was a pleasant surprise indeed! To us, it felt like a 5 star hotel. Great view from the room. And we loved the buffet breakfast at the restaurant. Fresh yummy food.
W. L.
My wife and I stayed here for our 1st wedding anniversary. Upon our late arrival we found that we had a room upgrade and a bottle of champagne waiting for us to consume. We had a magnificent stay and would highly recommend.
T. M.
My wife and I recently stayed in Hobart at the Grand Chancellor hotel very nice view from our room of the marina. I asked for a room fairly high up so we could see over the harbour and was delighted when we were given a top floor room. Can't wait to return.
A. F.
Hotel and rooms are nice enough. Windows facing the waterfront let a lot of of street noise through. Beds are comfortable enough but very bouncy, so if your partner moves you feel like you're moving too. Buffet breakfast is ok but not great.
R. 4. A.
Attended a conference here and it was fantastic! The catering staff were outstanding and very professional. The Manager (Mark) was also very helpful in giving us packing tape, cutting blade to tape up our banners and to open boxes at the end of the day. I couldn’t believe this as I have attending quite a few of these and when I asked at other conferences “do you have any tape or knife to open boxes”? I was given a flat no! The whole set up was great and the staff 10/10 I would definitely recommend having more venues here😊 Oh,and thank you for the box of gloves! Keep Smilling Tasmania I’m going to miss you 😘🇦🇺👍🏽
G. W.
Great room, clean and comfortable awesome service! I own a 4x4 and it was too tall for their indoor carpark so my ute stayed at the front door for me!
T. P.
Great Place to stay, close to everything and the staff are all friendly and helpfull. The room was great and had a fantastic view of the Harbour. The only downside would be that the breakfast was expensive so go for a walk across the road. Will definately stay here again.
D. L.
Room's are slightly on the older side but in no way grubby (read: very clean), staff are friendly. Didn't get a chance to try the restaurant but presume it is good. The views facing the harbour are amazing
C. D.
Stayed at the Hobart Grand Chancellor in April 2017 and loved it! Fantastic views from the Atrium bar and the rooms facing the harbour. Handy location to explore beautiful Hobart. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the room was very comfy. Highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay there again!
T. M.
I have stayed here a few times, most recently last weekend on a business and pleasure trip. Great location overlooking the harbor and is a quick walk to the jetties and Sala***ca area. We were in Tassie for a week and the staff were the friendliest we came across on our trip.
R. K.
Excellent hotel, with an exceptional view ahead, great service, great care, I’m living here due to isolation restriction of 14 days but actually this place has taken my heart 💓 I love it and these days will be the most memorable for me ☺️Thanks Grand Chancellor all staff 👍
M. C.
Very close location to central Hobart
Service was amazing
Parking on site for $10 underneath
Nice view if you can get overlooking the harbor
Very clean and good price for an overnight visit
M. A.
Perfect location with easy access to all the main sights. Nice, clean room with great harbour views. There is some road noise and the hotel hasn't been updated recently, but definitely a recommended place to stay in Hobart.
R. M. P.
Stopped by HGC for a coffee after visiting TMAG ... good coffee, tasty cakes and nice view over the waterfront.
K. S.
Great view of the marina, decent sized rooms, clean and comfortable. Everything works and top quality. Buffet brekky was fresh and a bit different to the usual (in a good way!).
C. J.
Nice place. Friendly staff. Spacious rooms, very clean. Great location for a weekend trip and close to many restaurants and eateries, museums, and other tourist places. Wouldn't risk staying elsewhere in Hobart.
T. M.
There was actually a balcony door to go out onto the pebbles, but to what end I do not know. Quiet overcrowded and running low on food regularly at breakfast due to the volume so I suggest allowing at least 30-40min to eat your business …
C. P.
The staff were amazing. They let me check in early as I was unwell after the flight. They gave me directions to the market and handed out umbrellas to loan when it rained. The breakfast was incredible and the views spectacular. The room even had a spare blanket - a rare find for those of us who feel the cold.
S. F.
Absolutley love this place, well presented and great atmosphere. ive been here twice for high tea and its been incredible both times and really cheap for what it is! $31.00 for adults and $16.50 for kids and available everyday which is very convenient for me.
L. R.
Superb site on Hobart's Harbour. Superb service, superb food, superb views. Close to CBD, close to harbour historic sites
L. S.
Lovely hotel and room and service BUT.... there are choices of harbour view and mountain view rooms and I had a mountain view room - which backs on to the main street through Hobart and the hospital is also just behind you. If your a light sleeper this is not good as the sounds is not covered. So unless you like traffic noise and a siren or two in the night - choose harbour view room.
T. M.
The Grand Chancellor Hotel occupies a prime position on the waterfront overlooking Constitution Dock in Hobart. On the harbour side you get fantastic water views across Constitution Dock and towards Sala***ca, Sandy Bay etc. Room was very …
M. S.
Staying on the 14th floor near the lifts and it's fine. Rooms and lobby are clean. Great customer service, the hotel is in a great location, walking distance to everything. Also traffic and parking is easy. Only negitive would be the in room tv system is average and expensive for on demand movies.
S. T.
Stayed here for a short break in Hobart. The room was a good size, clean and amazing shower!! Hotel is perfect walking distance to all the main sights in the city, staff at the bar and restaurant provided first class service and were very accommodating. The only thing that let it down for me was the noise in the room from the highway (although we were quite high up), I struggled with the noise - no double glazing. Make sure you get a room at the front so you have the harbour views too.
T.
Wonderful view and room service, combine with easy access to the city and museum+ a gym, pool and sauna. Wonderful place, will come again.
K. M.
comfortable bed, amazing watefront views and great service - a special thanks to Emmalise for organising a bottle of wine for my birthday! We will definitely come back. Thanks so much for making our first visit in Hobart awesome and memorable.
S. T.
Concierge forgot us and left my partner standing outside with bags whilst assisting others that arrived after us. Water in shower flows out into bathroom and makes a large puddle, which indicates the floor waste in the shower isn't working correctly. The people carry themselves like this is an extremely high class place. It's nice, but, there's no need to do that in a proper high class place because, it just is without that carry on. Location is good. Carpark is underground, which is good. To me, generally the place lacks some character, but I'd stay again for the location.
B. M.
This was a top end hotel with a lovely view over Launceston. The food was amazing with a wide choice of wines.
B. R.
Had a job interview in one of the lower level rooms. The facilities are great. Everything is clean and looks nice. Only problem I had was that we had food come out during the event and I don't particularly enjoy it.
G. K.
Well appointed room, friendly staff, great food in their restaurant and be sure to book a South facing room for a spectacular view.
J. J.
A nice enough place to stay in the CBD with nice harbour views on the superior rooms.
The room is fairly spacious with a desk and lounge seating and the king bed is comfortable enough but old and needs replacing, it's one of the older spring style with plastic support on the rim.
Bathroom is spacious with a roof mounted over head rain shower but no hand held option for those who dont want to wash there hair everyday.
The only issueI've faced is the traffic noise. Even from the high floors it's quite easy to hear a truck or loud car driving by on all sides.
K. S.
fantastic staff, they heard it was our honeymoon and sent us up a bottle of wine. the room was very nice with a modern look, and the hotel is located in a great part of the city. would stay again for sure
R. L.
Very nice hotel with great views and helpful staff. The front desk gave us recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. All were excellent. The waterfront location is beautiful.
S. D.
Great location for exploring Hobart. However we found our room to very noisey at night. Our room was on the 18th floor and howling winds rattle our windows throughout the night. The bathroom was also small and shower drain nearly blocked. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful on arrival.
C. O. (.
Work Xmas dinner... Its a lot nicer inside than outside... Great looking, nice and spacious... Good food and drinks, although beers are a little on the expensive side... Awesome views of the harbour... Had a great night 😊
M. A.
Love this place due to the views and location! Food has improved too compared to our last stay here. My only criticism is the noise no matter how high we were at! So my tip is bring ear plugs!
L. D.
Really loved my stay here - the room was bigger than I expected and even though I opted for the city view to save money the view was amazing. Staff were always helpful - I left my baggage in storage for several hours before and after I checked in and out and the staff even checked me in early because I was there.
L. M.
We will be telling everyone about this wonderful hotel. They were totally committed to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. We can't recommend it enough.
D. D.
Centrally located in Hobart. Friendly staff. Rooms very clean and fantastic views. Very enjoyable stay. Great conference venue.
D. L.
In the context of Hobart, this hotel is relatively modern and upmarket. Room Decor is slightly dated, but very clean. Staff are friendly and helpful.
W. G.
Lovely views. Comfy bed. Very helpful staff. Would book again for sure.
E.
Good hotel with good service. Rooms are nice and big, if you have a harbour view room you get awesome views of the harbour. Rooms are kept very clean and cleaned daily. Location wise it is about a 10mins walk to the cbd and to Salamanca Place.
I. W.
WAS THE BEES KNEES OF ACCOMMODATION IN ITS DAY BUT NOW A BIT DATED
The Grand Chancellor was "the" place to stay in Hobart a few decades ago but a lot has changed in that time and there are now some very good alternatives.
Still - it's a quality hotel and well located
r. h.
Fantastic service, with a beautiful room. Made good use of the immaculate pool and gym! Great view from the room as well!!
S. H.
When we arrived to check in, Roma at reception was very helpful and friendly. We had travelled down from Melbourne to stay at the Hotel and celebrate our 9th Wedding anniversary.
A few minutes after getting to our room, we heard a knock at the door, a staff member presented to us a complimentary bottle of Champaign and two flute glasses. When asked the staff member said "this is to help celebrate your anniversary". It was a complete suprise and a very special treat.
Roma reccommended a great resturant nearby for dinner and made the reservation for us. The meals where fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Would highly recommend the Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart
B. A.
Excellent facilities and convenient location. I was a bit disappointed about parking not being included in the room cost. The bed was good and the provision of different pillows for different sleepers was nice.
R. W.
Exceptional location and the staff are very helpful and kind. Enjoyed my one night stay here this week. Would recommend a visit!
P. D.
Friendly and professional staff coupled with great facilities from a very decent gym and pool to the downstairs bar and restaurant. Love staying here when I’m in Hobart. Keep up the great work
J. R. M.
Buffett breakfast Anzac Day... excellent, staff attentive and very polite. Chef happy to cook you your specific order. Popular place for tourists and locals.
Coffee great and Chai tea too.
Booking is advised as seats fill quickly. Fresh diverse produce even squeeze your own juice 😎 $31 Buffett breakfast yum!
Amenities excellent but you would expect that! Provide newspapers too!

Was there for Ballets Delight Conference with over 1,000 of us there, they made everything happen so easily and quickly. Great food also was served which just made the wool experience even better. Thank you to all the staff who worked hard. :)
B. P.
Great service from their staff. Rooms are spacious and we'll kept. Ours in particular had great views of the harbour. Will stay next time in Hobart.
Y. S.
Can not fault, great hotel, room, location and the breakfasts are awesome 👏
J. C.
Harbour view room is best
T. W.
Another wonderful stay at this high class Hotel, this time I stayed for a week and the staff are exceptional from Leah on Reception, William the Porter,Michelle H with House keeping and Naomi and Tania made my day with their bright bubbly nature in the Tasman Restaurant. The cleanliness of the Hotel is most impressive.
J. F.
We were there for Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra performance, with time to spare for a drink before going in. Stunning place, not enough seating, but the barmen could not make a Mojito. It took 25mins and when it finally arrived it was still wrong. My 70+ mother was disappointed that she had to rush and leave her drink, as we had to leave our drinks for the show. Disabled ♿ access is fine getting into hotel lobby but I could not see a route that wasn't stairs to access the bar. With any seating for ♿ up behind the bar! 5/10 ♿ rating.
J. S.
Very nice hotel room. We paid a discounted rate of $140 USD a night which made it a great value. Don't think I would pay the $400 AUD rack rate. Wireless is free for a 2 mbps connection. Parking costs extra but we found a free spot on street over night. Walking distance to wharf and Salamanca Place.
R. B.
Lovely facility, warm welcome
G. P.
Attended a 3 day conference at the Hotel. Staff and facilities were absolutely brilliant however did not stay at the venue due to the price being a tad exorberent. Places a few hundred metres away were 700 dollars cheaper.
N. T.
Fantastic service! As I have a broken foot, all of the staff have been very helpful and accommodating. Food is amazing, hotel is very clean. Would definitely recommend to friends and family!
R. d. V.
High tea was ok and nice. Scones over cooked and our sweets were a little too sweet for our taste. Sandwiches were good and atmosphere is pleasant.
W. A.
Great location, right by the harbour, close to the city centre and the Saturday market, walking distance to the botanical gardens. Excellent service, very good room. The hotel is in a busy street, though, so there's traffic noise; it does quiet down at night, Hobart is not a terribly busy city.
I. K.
Great hotel and great staffs who were very friendly but very professional and helpful.
Made us very happy staying in Tasmania
And has nice food and good room service with reasonable price
We will definitely come back here when we re-visit Hobart
*. D. X. *.
The staff were so helpful, friendly and polite, the location was perfect and the facility was very well maintained. We look forward to staying at the Hotel Grand Chancellor on our next visit to Hobart.
P. J.
just a lovely spot. we were upgraded to a top floor the room was big and a great view of the harbour. Central to lots of resturants
H. F.
An amazing hotel which is clean, neat, affordable and filled with happy, welcoming and informational staff members who are always willing to help or even just chat!
S. L.
The hotel room has brilliant view! Tasman restaurant has good housemade food selection which is quite impressive. Staff is friendly and helpful.
A. B.
Last minute booking because we needed to extend our stay. Great customer service, great view, clean. The TV made a bit of a weird buzz which was annoying and we had to pay for parking.
A. M.
The staff are very attentive. Reasonably priced accomodation, with one of the key locations of Hobart. Our room 1101 was exceptionally large and cosy. Looks as if it was recently updated. The shower was a rock star. 9.5/10.
Well done Grand Chancellor...
A. M.
This was our 5th stay and it was Quality as usual. Note: there is a cost for parking, which we were not told about on check in.
J. n. E. J.
Great views and friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are comfortable.
L. G.
Hotel Grand Chancellor has comfortable, clean rooms, and friendly service. Well worth an overnight stay when visiting Hobart.
E. D.
Centrally located close to great restaurants, bars and CBD attractions. Make sure to go across the street for dinner at the Drunken Sailor and check out the museum in the opposite direction. Room was clean and spacious.
D. B.
We stayed in a double suite on the 16th floor with fantastic views of the Hobart waterfront. We had a 7 year old with us so a trundle bed was supplied in the second room which had it's own toilet. The main room had a king size bed and a bath and shower ensuite. It's a very easy walk to all waterfront attractions and Salamanca. Basement parking available for extra 9
dollars a day and car can be left parked for the whole book out day although Hotel bookout is 11AM.
V. H.
The hotel staff have been absolutely wonderful and the food is excellent and new rooms are fantastic thank you so much grand chancellor
A. B.
Great location on the waterfront. Close to a range of Hobarts top restaurants. Short walk to Salamanca and Mona ferry. Very friendly service. Nice bar and restaurant in the lobby.
M. L.
Great service and accommodation
J. L.
Great accommodation. Facilities are fantastic. Restaurant is upper class and the menu gets quite dull after 3 nights dining. Staff are polite and fantastic
j. b.
Couldnt be sny better. Beautiful view, friendly staff, super comfy bed, close to Salamanca markets and right in the centre of everything
K. M.
Very nice hotel, as you would expect. Beds a bit hard and you get soaked turning the shower on but these are minor issues. Very clean and friendly
K. R.
Great stay and the Harbour view is amazing.
Z. C.
Beautiful hotel and view. GREAT buffet breakfast with lovely staff. Small family room, no notification that pool closed so kids a little disappointed. Lovely hotel through.
K. B.
I was attending a graduation at the Federatuin Concert Hall. The food was fine, the staff cleaned dirty dishes and glasses but they left the used napkins on table and floor. I wasn't expecting that from a 4 star service.
D. B.
Perfect location. Close to restaurants and grocery stores. Room was clean and excellent view of the harbour. Staff were extremely professional and friendly and very helpful. Excellent stay.
M.
The rooms are big clean with comfy beds
Exceptional and quick services
Clean linen and clean towels
Washroom is clean and fancy
Staff is very polite and always helpful
K. H.
Nothing has changed. Great meals, service with a smile. Lounge area very comfortable. Check to see if seafood buffet is still on once a week!
J. B.
Service was great, taxis out the front, airport shuttle around the side. Complimentary newspaper everyday. Good in room food, cheerful staff. 8/10 would go back
J. M.
Hotel is perfectly located in the heart of the waterfront district of Hobart and CBD. Has the best views in Hobart looking over Constitution Dock and Sullivans Cove and right down the Derwent River. Close to a wide range of Restaurants eateries and other tourist attractions. Hotel was built some years ago but remains current. The rooms and hotel are impeccably clean and tidy. A good full breakfast In the Tasman Restaurant . Staff very friendly and helpful.
B. C.
My mum and I had a girls weekend away in Hobart and chose to stay in a twin mountain view room. We had lots of space to spread out and the beds were comfortable. The bathrooms were modern and the toiletries smelled decine. They worked really well too. We had easy to access parking onsite as well. The hotel lobby makes excellent cocktails and snacks on request and the views beautiful from there as well. Salamanca markets were a 15 min walk away and Mures seafood was just across the road. This is a perfect base to explore Hobart from. The Mawson museum was a 10 min walk away too.
J. S.
Nice location on the Hobart waterfront. Nice hotel and conference centre. Crowded with several events at Christmas time but still enough staff to make everything run smoothly.
W. K.
Really a grand hotel with major events every night. Excellent location just steps away from the pier. Really nice staff but the room facilities are pretty old. Also Wifi is limited.
S. L.
Service very friendly and professional. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Most things were walking distance add internet was included.
H. D.
Very comfortable & right on the water & within easy walking distance of restaurants & shopping. Good harbour views from all the front rooms. A bar & restaurant on site.
M. C.
Location is good, price and service are fair... But... the entrance and parking are hard to find, and worst of all when i got up at 9am to have a sauna it had not been turned on yet. I'm my books that is a big no no.
B. H.
Love this hotel. We paid for harbor view on 2 stays and well worth it. View is gorgeous. Rooms very nice. Would definitely stay there agajn.
M. F.
Great service great food great coffee. Harbour views from my room was Great! Good size rooms to with very comfy beds.
J. C.
Located just near the Hobart waterfront, the Hotel Grand Chancellor is a good place to hold functions for the masses. Friendly staff, a range of food options to feed even the most fussy (me), and the pleasing interior provides a good atmosphere for any occasion.
J. B.
Had breakfast/brunch for Father's Day and it was excellent as usual. Food was very good as was service and everyone was left happy. Very good value for money.
T. P.
Modern rooms and excellent maintenance. Room service food actually tasted amazing. Staff were always rushing to help us with our bags.
M. L.
Went to the Grand Chancellor for a brief work meeting /coffee. Service and coffee on Friday morning was great. Love the view of the harbour, being new to Hobart I couldn't take my eyes of it.
C. T.
Beautiful view from a harbourside room, and from other parts of the hotel. Close to many Hobart attractions. Cark parking in secure car park cost extra but made things very easy.
T.
Excellent location, nice rooms and very professional service.
r. b.
Great function rooms with excellent service. Beautiful food... 200 meals all come out at same time and all were superb.
j. G.
Excellent! Highly recommended.
T. R. P.
Best hotel I have ever been to staff was amazing and the service was fantastic
D. H.
Comfortable hotel with friendly service. Gym is very good for a hotel. All the equipment you need include kettlebells, dumbbells and free bench.
Y. A.
Good hotel with indoor pool. Nice high tea. Not the best cleaning, found a pair of used undies under the bed table.
J. L.
Conference facilities are great, staff are attentive and polite. For the 3 days we were there, the conference ran without problem- food was devine and air conditioning was perfect!
M. H.
My favourite Hotel in Hobart so far (but, I have not stayed at Henry Jones yet). Perfect location and all the 5-star amenities.
I. M.
This is a good quality hotel with good facilities. Only complaint is that their wifi internet policy is what I would have expected 10 years ago - only a ridiculously small free wifi offering. Not having good quality wifi included at these prices is just not good enough today.
K. S.
Great rooms, awesome views, excellent gym. Only slight drawback is the price of meals inhouse, the quality is fantastic though so worth the extra money
A. S.
Great hotel with top notch breakfast and friendly staff. The gym/pool changing areas and public toilets on the ground floor are in need of refurbishment otherwise highly recommended.
D. L.
Visited for a conference, and staff were very attentive, polite and neat. Everything ran without a hitch. Food served was great with a healthy variety and options.
S.
Bathroom wasn't easy to get around. Door was keeping swing close. Room its self was comfortable and roomie. Food was good.
L. P.

A. F.
Attended a free media seminar. Had a lovely lunch of mixed sandwiches. Morning tea was tasty biscuits, and handmade colouful chocolates with lovely centers, 2 with liquid centers.
E. M.
Clean, spacious and friendly staff. Lounge bar view, staff and menu excellent. Big downside: no table service!
T. C.
Great clean place with nice views and good service. Location was convenient, especially with the water and the market right in front of you!
S. F.
Attended a conference here. The conference facilities, especially the main auditorium are high quality, however the conference location spills out into the public area. Also, doors close very loudly, which interrupts conference sessions.
N. Y.
Superior hotel conveniently located with a beautiful harbour view, friendly staff, good amenities.
K. K.
I was at G C 2 nite for TSO concert. What a great night. Wonderful concert and so great to be back in the concert hall
M. M.
Always a pleasant stay. Room was clean, if a belittle outdated. Staff were professional, but are never particularly polite.
G. W.
Service and the room was fantastic would have been nicer to have been offered the waterfront room instead of the cranes the major problem with my son with special needs room service denied reheating his dietary food for his diabetes their …
L. C.
Friendly staff great location in near the Marina and a 5 min walk to the main centre of Hobart.
D. H.
There for a convention. Nice conference rooms and friendly staff but the catering could have been better quality. Great location though.
A. F.
Attended a free media seminar. Had a lovely lunch of mixed sandwiches. Morning tea was tasty biscuits, and handmade colouful chocolates with lovely centers, 2 with liquid centers.

Classy hotel at excellent location. Parking was an issue they need to address.
K. G.
River view, watching sunrises & sunsets. What a fab place to stay. Will be back for sure
T. M.
I chose the Grand Chancellor due to its convenient location to the CBD. Had a city view room on the 20th floor. Great service, very clean. The hotel was ok for the price we paid for it, but if I returned to Hobart, I'd probably stay somewhere newer.
M. N.
Well run, comfortable, hotel in exactly the right location. Rooms are well appointed and modern. Enjoyed our stay.
B. P.

S. C.
Comfortable clean spacious rooms with great views, Tasman Restaurant was excellent for dinner!
K. M.
Lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff. Well located and appointed. Relaxing and enjoyable
A. R.
Nice rooms right on the harbor. Great pool. They do some weird stuff with the names of floors, floor 4 is called 10 and so on. Makes it sound like a bigger building I guess.
p. s.
Basically a nice place to visit, have a drink and observe the view, long time favourite
F. 2.
Great view and nice room, but, the beds we're a bit uncomfortable and that made me get only 7 hours of sleep
D. K.
Really nice accomodation. Shame on the disgusting sewer smell in the carpark.
A. H.
Probably your best accommodation for the money in Hobart. The parking is cheap as well. If you can get a view of the bay it's worth it.
M. L.
Just dropped in to meet my cousin, beautiful place
V. K.
Enjoyed our stay. Great service, fantastic view, relaxing time at swimming pool and sauna. Our kids loved it.
K. K.
I have stayed here a few times and have really enjoyed it. The room was ok and the facilities were great.
F. T.
The events space was simple. Toilets were clean but clashed with the rest of the hotel asthetically. Service was pleasant.
E. G.
I had a high tea with a friend. This was our 2nd high tea there and the staff were friendly and helpful both times. The food was delicious and the perfect amount.
A. C.
Just the best view. It’s an excellent hotel. I’d luv to be able to stay there very frequently.

Really nice hotel and rooms, but extremely noisy rooms with road noise. Would love to stay there again but unfortantaly will need to find a more quieter location.
A. M.
Attended both a symphony and pianist event in the Concert Hall, acoustics were good however it was not clear nor close by to purchase drinks and parking also.
A. G.
Great place to stay!!
R. S.
Pretty good, no complaints except that the noise from the locked connecting doors to the room next door passed through a lot of noise and I could hear all their conversations which I didn't want to hear about.
C. W.
Hotel was comfy got upgraded as it was our 15th wedding anniversary and enjoyed my experience..
G. B.
Top spot a bit expensive but you are in the middle of the city eating spots, rooms very comfortable, service very good.
B. N.
Great hotel. Really enjoyable. The service is excellent and the location is ideal. Really enjoyed staying here.
C. G.
Always recommend for great views and easy access to all main attractions in town! Rooms always clean and well maintained.
J. L.
Great location! The room I stayed in was starting to look a little tired however it was not dirty or falling apart by any stretch.
J. M.
Great buffet breakfast, clean, great location and nice staff.
K.
Great atrium where you can sit in and relax, enjoy the best High Tea in Hobart (pre-order), warm yourself beside a cosy fireplace, have a drink or snack, read the free newspapers, and best of all, enjoy the waterfront views of the fishing boats and heritage buildings.
R. S.
Nice place. Smart location. Spectacular view of the town on the one side and the pier on the other. Overall, great money value.
D. G.
My wife and I stayed here as part of our 28th anniversary celebrations and the staff were so kind to help us celebrate. Thank you .

Nice place to stay. Clean and spacious rooms, great indoor pool and friendly staff.

H. a. H.

C. J.
Great service, extremely clean, great location right on the wster, pillow menu and extremely well priced for the amenities you have access to such as gym, WiFi and heated pool!

Very nice ambiance and the room is amazing. Definitely the best place to stay in while you are in tassie.
J. S.
Great pool. Breakfast buffet was also excellent. Location was fantastic. View was picturesque
M. H.
I visited to attend the TSO. The upstairs area was littered with an arrangement of tables and other items from some earlier event. Unfortunately the hotel can often look like the aftermath of an Amway conference...
