D. J.This three star Hotel/Motel is near top shelf quality. I stayed here 19 days, and could not have been made feel more welcome. The staff here are very accommodating, and will help you out wherever they can.
Fridge, toaster, microwave, kettle, iron & ironing board, hair dryer, tea bags, coffee, milk and biscuits, all waiting in your room. On request you can get a coffee-plunger/french-press, clothes-airer, or some salt for your fish and chips.
A convenience store located 5min walk around the corner is open until 8pm... They have good meals and desserts, as well as groceries. Just across from the store is a full menu Italian gig with the best pizza I've had in ages, or ever.
I've been around the world and stayed in nicer three stars, but as for Mayfair on Cavell I'm leaving well satisfied. A comfortable, safe, and welcoming place to sleep and store your stuff whilst you explore Hobart and the many things around it. An Uber Comfort down to the CBD will cost you 9 bux, but it's all down hill...
If your accommodation budget is around a hundred bux a night then this place it's perfect. The only eyebrow puckering detail I can think of is the fact that when I looked under the beds during my idiot check, I saw a few months of dust... However, had I noticed and mentioned this to the staff during my stay I know they would have fixed that.
Another thing I'll remember is the nostalgic video night when we watched Harry Potter on my rooms VCR... That's right, VCR as in video cassette recorder!
K. L.We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay in apartment B. It was spacious, comfortable and felt like staying at grandma's house.
It was a great location, and very quiet, yet close to the City and Sandy Bay.
P. P.Sensible hospitality and warm livelihood that's what I liked most in a service dwelling.. however few factors need a scale up.. internet connectivity is poor and sometimes not available. Reception service timings are limited so please make sure you have the detailed communication if arriving late in the evening...typical conversation after office hrs are not entertained 😐😑😔

N. L.Our stay lasted 3 nights and we were pleased with the price and size of the room. The carpet was a bit old and probably needs a good shampoo, however we thought it was good value for money. If you do not have a vehicle it is possibly a little far from the centre of town to walk up an extremely steep hill.

F. M. P.The room was weirdly fascinating with carpeted walls, strange portraits, a 1930's functionning radio and a feel of entering the 80's.
We chose this place because they offered laundry service, and it was direly needed after a few days of camping. It was a mistake, DO NOT USE THE LAUNDRY SERVICE THERE!
The dryer does not work, we had to pay 6$ and afterwards our clothes weren't just damp, they were soaking, dripping wet! So we loaded them into the dryer again with a different setting, even did a small maintenance check on the machine to make sure everything was working fine, but when we came back to check on our stuff, someone had stopped the dryer and chucked all of our STILL SOAKING WET clothes into a basket and just left it there. (Note: this was after the front desk hours, on a quiet Monday night, so we know it wasn't the receptionist or any of the other tennants). As a last resort, we had to use every single surface in the room and crank the heat up to prevent the entirety of our clothes from becoming all moldy. Also, the old, retro fan looks cool and all, but it makes one hell of a racket.

Agree that the furniture is dated and Austar was not working in our room (but it probably could have been fixed if we asked - but have access to 'Foxtel Go' so have not bothered). Ideal better for visiting families to Hobart.

C. T.Stayed for 2 nights for 4. Typical hotel room kind of setting with a double bed, a single bed and an extra bed. There's a microwave available. Location is OK. Reception told us there's a convenient store accessible by foot just around the corner from the motel but we haven't been. We have a car and Salamanca place is about 10 mins drive away. The drive to the motel, you have to drive through a very steep slope and make a left turn in the middle of the slope. That's a tough drive up for not so skilled drivers. Service is excellent, the person who checked us in was really helpful and gave us a lot of information we needed. The only thing I was not really satisfied with is the parking (nothing really to do with the motel). There's exactly one spot for each room. If you have one idiot who can't park properly and somehow taking up a bit of your spot, it'll be difficult to park. There are always street parkings outside though.

V. C.10/10 would stay here again. Kind of as an ironic thing, but that's ok too right? The room could best be described as overwhelming. A cacophony of mismatched furnishings celebrates the eye. Borrow a VHS from the extensive library in the lobby and watch it in your room on your VCR for the full experience. Lovely views over Hobart town and the water from the bedroom, and of kunanyi/ Mount Wellington from the living area.
