Comments of Moonah Hotel and Cellars

Great venue. Spacious, contemporary feel. Very airy and summery. Meals are well priced and delicious. My steak was perfectly cooked. Excellent selection of beers too. And just round the corner from our house!

The Moonah hotel has been cleverly done up. Don't expect a new layout, but great lighting, fresh paint, smart bar and loads of attentive staff is an impressive upgrade. The food, albeit pricey for some menu items, was delicious from what I got to taste. Yummy wine list and beers that you won't find on tap elsewhere.

Cool menu, good vino list, grilled lettuce: mwah!We liked sitting on the street front with open window of bottle shop, ('hash tag' covid safe energy.) And you can buy their pet nat and drink on premises, which was cool.
We felt the hotel part had yet to find it's identity, beyond being a nice grey lilac colour. Like the previous pub, that I never went to but had a solid identity (hence my never going there, but I appreciate them being them if ykwim)😅 So I hope they do find their 'vibe'! Will return x

Still finding it’s feet. Went with a party of 5 for Friday a night meal Atmosphere was welcoming but a little loud. Burger was tasty but overpriced for what you got, but the Chicken Schnitzel looked better value. Note to proprietor toilets could be cleaned more regularly. Will probably give it another visit in a couple of months.

Good food, easy access for toddler and pram, high chair for baby.
Steak was well cooked (med rare) and chips were tasty. Husband had fish and chips which were also good although the mushy peas were served cold, which was a bit odd. Baby carrots were yummy!
Only issue was with the enamel plates, every time I tried to cut my steak my plate spun around! I imagine this will only get worse with time.

We had a meal for 5 people on a Saturday night. They were (only just) able to make a table for us as it was full and we didn't book. The menu was a little limited (and no specials offered). Service was good (order at counter). Good parts: Meals generally good. Parmy was a large size and well executed, steaks were cooked to perfection, and sides of beans and carrots were great, chips were good. Less good parts: kids burger was too small, steaks were a little too salty, and no "side of veg" instead of chips&salad without buying the sides ($8 each).
The renovation is very welcome (much better than the days of "the pot"). Could do with some sound abdorbant panels and soft furnishings for a warmer ambience.
Would certainly come again but a few areas to improve.

Overall a great experience and I'd go back.
Good range of beers on tap, missing some alcohol you'd expect: aperol, pimms. Most of the food was really tasty, chips done so well, I'd recommend the calamari and grilled sausage dishes. Green beans were no good, the almonds on them were soggy and the sauce/lemon dressing wasn't right.
There's a range seating like couches and high bar tables. The look of the reno has been done well.
Service was good, could be better, some staff in uniform others random clothes.

Great refurb of the old pub. Great range of tap beer, variety of beer, soft drinks and wines from the fridge. The food menu is varied with meals of all sizes, a smaller snack menu and all at good prices. There is plenty of seating but mainly at taller tables and the beer garden area is opening soon.

The former mustard pot has been transformed into a stylish hotel/restaurant. The menu has the traditional chicken parmi's. Food was tasty and theres a good variety of quality beers and wines.

I had really been looking forward to going to the “new” Moonah Hotel. The renovations are wonderful. Unfortunately the menu is quite limited and most items are extremely heavy, i.e.schnitzels, burgers, fish, all with chips. I had the battered fish and chips and the fish was nice and juicy but the accompanying mushy peas added nothing to the meal and the accompanying salad was tiny and the cucumber quite limp.
Despite that, I would be happy to visit again in the hope some lighter meals may appear on the menu.
The Moonah Hotel may become a very popular haunt in Moonah.

Good range of pub meal style food and beverages at a reasonable price. The Moonah Hotel and Cellars offer up a high-standard experience for the area, which is nothing short of heartening for us here in the northern suburbs.

Quick to get meal and staff polite, only two choices of gravy , salad was lettuce and onion only, ad chips had skin on and were fatty. Didn't quite match up with price but wasn't the worst meal . Steak was cooked well

great food beers were good but no smoking area and banned from bar service for skulling one beer unless drinking water

I would highly recommend going to the Moonah hotel, the eggplant parmas are delicious and a generous size, coming with great chips and salad. They also have a really good wine list!

Lunch, beautiful steak cooked just right, horrible chips.
Great staff, offered to go up street & get coffee which she did.
Big shock with price of a glass of wine
M. R.
Great pub meals, comfortable, contemporary dining and a brilliant selection of beers and wines to sample. AA++ from me.

Great cheeseburger, fish n chips, schnit and parmy. However:
*Annoying enamel plates that spin on the table when you are trying to cut your food.
*Dining area clattery and loud, could do with some sound deadening measures.
*Beer was great, my wife's white was "tepid", also not much Tas wine on the list.
A 900% improvement on the Mustard Pot.

A beautifully restored historical hotel. Staff are always friendly. A lovely, warm and welcoming environment. The food in the new restaurant is amazing. I was recently lucky enough to use the function room for my engagement party. This area was perfect, big and open. The appetisers we were served were to die for. I would definitely recommend this space for your next function.

Revamped as Jimmy D the pub has a whole new feel, bistro food was excellent with exceptional service. Will definitely be back.

Great little pub, with great cafe style meals. Very reasonably priced, staff were very friendly. I had the fully loaded dog ($17.50), it tasted great, washed down with a few cold beers.
