M. K. T. C.Room was clean, staff was friendly enough, but the facilities were not great as the building was not well maintained. Only 2 of the 3 floors had bathrooms which only had one toilet and 2 showers (one of which was out of order my entire stay). There was also never any hand soap in the bathroom, and the shower water constantly oscillated between hot and cold. Kitchen was small and always full, with majority of kitchen items being greasy from not being properly washed by others. It's an okay place if all you need is a bed for a night or two.
S. S.I’m now at another hostel in a different city that was around the same price, and I’m realizing how clean, warm and welcoming Nate’s in Melbourne was. Super friendly and helpful staff, free breakfast, a really nice kitchen and rooftop space. My friend and I booked two beds in a four bed room, and the front desk associate even said that he would avoid booking the remainder of our room if he could manage it. We had good luck! The shower has hot water, there were separate women’s and men’s shower rooms (I say this because our current hostel doesn’t offer that. Just bathrooms and separate stalls for showers). Nate’s is a callback to the friendly and social vibes of a traditional European style hostel a la pancake breakfasts and themed dinners. The place I’m staying now feels like an unkempt Frat House that smells like bleach and eggs and sweaty laundry. I feel like I took Nate for granted. Tonight when I try to sleep I’ll imagine I’m at Nate’s. Also the pub downstairs is pretty good too.
J. G.I had an excellent stay here. The people were at very friendly and made me fell like family from the beginning of my stay, the staff are top notch and the room was very comfortable to sleep in. Wonderful hostel and close to city, train station and supermarket. Highly recommended.
A. C.Cleanest hotel in CBD. Love to cook and eat at their rooftop kitchen. They often host dinner or BBQ party, at least I can get free dinner twice a week. Best for you who want to make new friends .

Albeit, the building is a bit run down and at the time it had a few plumbing issues.
However the rooms and hostel is kept clean, free wifi, free breakfast, plenty of events and free food during the week!
For me what made this hostel great was the staff and the atmosphere. With such a great rooftop and common area it really brings people together from all over the world. Such good vibes.
I had some of my best times in Australia in this hostel! Definitely give it a try.
M. P.Almost all of the showers didn't work and there was a lot of noise at night. Tiny rooms as well. Got a free upgrade which was nice but the hostel itself was mediocre.
J. M.I'm sitting here in another hostel really missing Nate's. We didn't realize how good we had it and how we really blew it coming back to Sydney.
The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We were two females and he managed to keep our room for just the two of us. He even offered us pancakes for breakfast, I'm sure they were delicious.
As I sit here looking piles of garbage, all I can smell is fermenting clothes, rotten eggs and bleach. I don't remember how Nate's smelled and that's a good thing.
Light, bright and airy is how I would describe Nates. Damp, concrete dungeon is where I am now.
At Nate's I spoke to a really nice French woman over a cigarette. I even miss her. Such a lovely terrace.
Downstairs you can get a damn good parma, and don't sleep on the onion rings. Spencer is a legend

B. S.Seriously the best backpackers I have stayed in for a while the room was clean the environment was nice the people there where all friendly I had a comfortable sleep. I would defo recommend this place the kitchen for a backpackers was sparkling clean big tv in the tv room bar downstairs close to everything you need really and the price you could not complain about all in all defo a 5/5 for me

The location is good, close to Melbourne's Free Tram Zone. The lockers are large, the toilets and showers are satisfactory. Bad points: The kitchen closes at 10:30 pm and the reception, if I'm not mistaken, closes at 8pm. All too soon!

Gostei bastante deste hostel. A limpeza era muito boa. A todo momento havia algum funcionário nos corredores cuidando disso. A cozinha é ampla e bem equipada. A localização é boa, perto da Free Tram Zone de Melbourne. Os lockers são grandes, os sanitários e chuveiros são satisfatórios. Pontos ruins: a cozinha fecha às 22h30 e a recepção, se não me engano, fecha às 20h. Tudo muito cedo!
