K. M.I absolutely love this place, I stayed here in 2003 for two months it was that good!! I actually worked in the attached bar next door and we had the best time ever, the location is amazing as it’s close to the Crown Casino and all that has to offer! The rooms and beds were just what you need in a hostel! It’s also a great place to find work if you’re looking for some. The trains are close and all the bars and restaurants you need are a short walk away! Love it unfcknblvble 😉
K. M.Excellent hostel, clean beds and good kitchen area. The staff are lovely and very welcoming. Dan at reception made sure to show me to my room and show me where everything was located. He even gave some advice about where to go in Melbourne! The hostel is also good if you want to party or have a chilled night. Overall had a very good experience in this hostel :)
M. A. M.Cheap stay! Friendly staff! Free pasta rice coffee and tea. Spacious room and common areas. I ended up staying there for few months because I made great friends and had fun at the bar next door :) staffs are very attentive with the guests and they always making your stay comfortable. Definitely recommend this awesome hostel!

My party and I stayed in a female bedroom this October. Nice and clean bedroom and comfy beds. The bathrooms were very nice (one of the showers is huge, very cool!), but there weren´t many :S, at least in our floor. The bar downstairs is pretty cool, the staff is very nice and the drinks are not expensive (or at least not as expensive as the rest of Australia). The kitchen area is kind of small but it is very decent and clean.
The pancakes breakfast is limited: two per person, even though there werent people at all, they didnt allow my friend to eat an extra one, so stingy.
Very cool area, super close to the trolley and many amenities. Melbourne is a dope city so you´re going yo have a very good time.
Overall I will come back

K. M.All Nations is a very warm and welcoming hostel as soon as you walk through the door! All staff are very friendly and up for conversation, which made me feel right at home. They are also willing to go that extra mile to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Dan at the front desk helped me change my room quickly and efficiently because I wanted to move from a 4-bed to something bigger!
The facilities at the hostel are good! Free tea/coffee and pasta/rice up for grabs as well as a big sitting area and room to chill in the TV room. There’s events on in the hostel’s bar next door which are fun and good to socialise as well!
I would highly recommend staying with this hostel!

Reception staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. UBAR, the bar next door was the best! Something different happening every night of the week with fab drinks offers and super cool bartenders! Will certainly be back next time I'm in Melbourne!
D. H.A decent hostel. The rooms are old and miss proper air conditioning. The rooms are at least. The breakfast that's included is hard to enjoy due the fact that you probably have to wait for 30 min to get a decent amount of food (pancakes). Not the best hostel I've been staying at, but still not bad.
G. J. H.Stayed here while down in Melbourne for a conference. I was very happy with my experience here - the rooms were clean and the beds were real comfortable. The bar next door was terrific and the people were all so friendly and easy to talk too. Definately recommend and will be staying here again.
G.The staff are friendly and welcoming. Free pancakes and the Cinema room are definitely my highlights of this hostel.
Unfortunately the building itself is very out-dated which I'm aware can't be helped. The room we stayed in (a 10 bed-dorm) was cold and uncomfortable.I feel that this can be resolved by adding more heaters or providing portable ones on demand.
Overall I enjoyed what this hostel has to be offer and I hope it continues to improve whatever way it can.

F. P.It's a typical backpacker hostel. The Location was good for me cause is close to the southern cross station. It is not 2 stars cause there are no crazy parties there and is not 4 stars cause my food has been stolen regularly, the reception don't care much about it and they don't let you keep the food the room either, that's comprehensible. No problem for my personal stuff in the room thou. The price is high and it changes daily. It's not dirty, except the dusts field under the bed. There are better hostels for the same price not so far. Cheers
F. A.The hostel is very well centralised in Melbourne, you easy can reach any place, the staff is amazing! Especially Joe, Amanda and Juan.. very helpful in any of my request...
However the cleanness is very bad.. the toilets are very dirty and the rooms as well doesn’t look like HK makes a great job.
The breakfast honestly you can get better options somewhere else, it’s only one pancake per person... instead I’ve been in other hostels where you can get something more

L. K.The Hostel was in a great location of the city- just five minutes away from the station of the Airport shuttle (skybus). And close to all the pick up locations of the tourbusses. Sadly it was also close to a trainstation, which was a little bit loud (not too bad with closed window and earplugs). Our room was a 10bed room, which had 10 lockers (for which you need your own lock). The bathrooms on my floor were all locked and couldn't be used. They had plenty of bathrooms on the other floors, toilets were clean. The rooms were not too clean and had nearly no airflow- the room smelled like someone would have thrown up, luckily my nose was plugged anyways. Every morning you could get free pancakes which were really good and big as well, but you had to wait really long for them, so I only ate them once. The people in the hostel weren't too motivated to meet up. If you just want to stay for some days and stay alone or at least not meet new people, it is definitely a good location :)

Beds are good and decent, cleanliness of the room is not the best.
They do come in every day to vacuum, but you can still find big pieces of dust everywhere in the rooms.
S. R.Disclaimer: This is the first hostel I stayed a in Australia, so I have no reference.
This hostel is such a bargain! For around 29 dollars per night you get to stay in reasonable clean rooms with big lockers and comfortable beds. The staff are young and always there to help you out, if you approach them with a humble attidtude (they will not co-operate if you are rude, which is fair) . The kitchen and fridges are my biggest complaints, the kitchen is very small and not very well ventilated and the fridges are always super crowded.
This is definately a party-oriented hostel, but i must say that the other reviews about loud music and drunk room mates are exaggerated, only during one of the 19 nights I stayed here was I annoyed by people from the bar associated with the Hostel.
All in all, I loved my stay here, much thanks to the lovely staff (Margo in the reception in particular!)

L. D.What a hostel! Unreal atmosphere with everything you could possibly want - fab location right in the city centre, great facilities to cook and the staff are super friendly! The hostel bar (UBAR) is a top drinking spot too with decently priced drinks and all sorts of different events on each night! Would deffo recommend :)
P. C.If you are looking for the bare essentials, a good location and a really good price, this is the place for you. Honestly, I find it a bit rickity, a bit old school, but nothing that holds you back other than the 3 levels of stairs you have to lug your bags up. Staff are nice and helpful and a handy app called tipi is a good sidekick on your phone to unlock your door and to let you know what's happening on the day.

C. B.For a place to lay your head, it does alright. Unfortunately everything else was a bit lacking. Sure, the staff was nice, but I remember going to take a shower the first morning and the water coming out of just about every other pipe. The toilets and showers are co-ed, just something to keep in mind. I've definitely seen better kitchens out of a hostel. The free wifi is limited to a few common areas, and was definitely struggling to keep up. I didn't have a chance to visit the bar or the travel desk, so no comment there.

U. K.Good choice for its position on the tram lines to where I wanted to go in St Kilda and South Melbourne. Reasonably priced, friendly staff, very clean, quite spacious, enough air flow in my 12 bed dorm, shower was hotter than in some other hostels, locker was large and working well, free pancakes for breakfast. It's a great choice if you're not bothered by tram and traffic noise, which I am not, thankfully.

Enjoyed every second of it, rooms come with lockers, BYO lock. Beds are comfortable, may need your own sheets + better pillow if you're a needy sleeper like me.

E. B.I stayed in this hostel for four days over the Grand Prix weekend. All the staff were very friendly and the kitchen was well equipped and had a welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast, in the form of pancakes and coffee/tea, and free pasta and rice were also provided free of charge.
I stayed in a 14-bed dorm and there was tons of space and plenty of electricity sockets through which you could charge your electronic devices. Bathrooms and showers were nearby and also in a good condition.
The only downside was that I got eaten alive by bed bugs. Would have given a 5* had this not had happened! But definitely recommend staying here if you want to stay in the Melbourne CBD.

D. L.It's an alright hostel. It's close to the train and tram lines so you get some noise in the early morning. No outlets near the beds and no lockers. Luggage storage is free though. Free pancakes are great. Mixed gender bathrooms!
C. M.Room cleaning is quite ok, unfortunately with cables around the floor, in room 102, tripping is pretty easy, expecially after a long night shift.
Unfortunately there's some spare plug located in the wrong place, so to charge electronic devices I recommend to buy a long cable if you plan a long stay.
The bathroom are ok and the location is really good if you are not a light sleeper; in that case I suggest you to ask for a room with windows away from the street.
There's free wifi and the backpackers are really nice.
There's free pancakes in the morning, free tea and coffee all the day and free pasta and rice.
The hostel counts a bit less than 300 beds (as the receptionist told me during my check in).
I appreciate the wood parquet on the floor, istead of the moquette (that unfortunately looks pretty common in Australia) that lower the hygiene ratio, expecially couse usually vacuumed with improper vaccum cleaners.
The only thing that really concern me is the fire safety, probably due my professional hazard, the knowledge I achieved by my study in Europe, I think that a fire risk, due to the situation of all these cables on the floors you can see in the picture, the parquet and the fire doors located to the stairs (made of wood) I'm really scared thinking how all these risks can rise a fire hazard in this hostel.
D. U.For a budget backpacker, it's a great place to start! The beds were extremely comfy, and the staff at the reception and bar were faultless. It is in need of updating, especially the tiny kitchen. Also the lack of a working lift, and several flights of stairs was a particular nuisance.
L. N.Customer service is good, you could store your bags prior your check in time if you have no other choice. The fees are fair enough to save a significant amount of budget. What I like most is the location where the access to different targets is so easy and free wifi at the foyer😍 Thanks for your help during my stay in Melbourne!
K.The best location, cheap rates, friendly atmosphere, clean rooms, clean bathrooms and a big kitchen. Definitely not the fanciest hostel, but has everything you would want/need traveling on a budget. Being a 2 minute walk from Southern Cross station is awesome, with trains to everywhere and the airport bus.
V. B.I spend time in that hostel 3 times now. It's close to the Southern Cross Station where you can find Coles, Pharmacy,... There's a 7/11 just next door and several places to get food are around. UBAR is just downstairs with a different program every day (Trivia, Karaoke, ...) and Drink specials.
The hostel is in an old building but all the rooms get renovated one after another at the moment. There's a big eating area where you can sit and work, eat,... The rooms I was in were clean and I always had enough space for my things, but some lockers would be great! I appreciated free WiFi from 7 to 7, free pancakes in the morning, free pasta, rice, sugar, coffee and tea, as I was at the end of my travels and didn't have much money left.
The staff was always friendly and could help with every question I had. I'd definitely book another bed in this hostel, whenever I'll come back. Live-in positions are available, to make some money.

There are free pancakes every morning, which I personally can do without. I'd rather have actual free and well-functioning Wi-Fi in every room and not just in the main room from 7am to 7pm. Of course, there's the option that you can pay for more internet access… But if you advertise free wi-fi on your homepage, you might actually offer exactly that.
P. “. C.Location is the best pro, especially for people flying in and out MLB. It's 500m from railway and sky bus(airportbus). Reception 24/7 was friendly and helpful. Room I got was full so had to do a swap and got free upgrade to smaller (less bunk beds) room. Toilets were reasonably clean and modern. Good value for money. The cons were the noise during the night, both in a room and from outside so light sleepers should grab ear plugs; and lockers on my room were not lockable but nothing dissapeared so all good👍.
S. A.It's a really cheap alternative to hotels (you can get as low as $159/week inc. unlimited internet), but you do have to sacrifice some things such as privacy (share rooms with up to 11 other people) and general quality.
A few positives, other than low cost, is they also help you get a job and offer travel discounts.
If you aren't very fussy and would rather spend your money on going out rather than high quality accommodation, then this place makes a really good temporary home.

K. M. C.The placement of the hostel is pretty good, but not the best. The hostel itself was decent, I missed a good place to chill out, as there were no such place. The kitchen is a bit small, so it gets crowded pretty quick at dinner time.
V. H.Is great to stay here, everyone is so nice, especially staff, they are sweet and nice! Bathroom is clean, sometimes might not but still acceptable. Great stay, and definitely will come back if back to Melbourne.
K. M.If you book in advance, then the price value ratio is really good (paid 20 $ per night in a 12 room mixed dorm) but when I booked another night while there, it was 35$ and not worth it.
Location is great, right by southern cross station and by the free tram line. Supermarkets relatively close by. Staff is friendly and helpful. There's a free food shelf which is great, but don't rely on this completely, it'll only add some rice and pasta to your meals.
Isn't the cleanest place, definitely not in the kitchen and corners. Might want to bring flipflops for the shower areas, the floors can be a bit slimey. Only thing that genuinely bothered me was that the fridge was leaking - everything around it and in it was wet. But as a I said, for the price it is easily doable. Just best to book in advance!
An improvement I'd suggest to the hostel is to either fix the leaking taps and showers or take down the "save water" stickers. Found this pretty funny and ironic.
P. V.great staff! Really helpfull in any situation that could come up in the hostel. Location is perfect in the cbd close to trams, trains and buses. Finally, the pancakes give a special touch in the morning ;)

It wasn't as updated as other hostels I've stayed in when in Melbourne but the staff was friendly and attentive. I've stayed in nicer hostels for the same price closer to downtown that I would stay in over Nomads if I was to come to Melbourne again but if those places were full, I would stay here again.

J. M. A.A little bit noisy and smelly but pretty good afterwards. We had troubles with a noisy and freaky roommate but the recepcionist hadn't got any problem to move us to an other much better room. Breacky is included (pancakes).
P. C.Been here before, and for long time. Just got back last week after two years away and I feel like I'm back home. Coffee and tea FREE all day. Free breakfast with PANCAKESSSS. (the kitchen could do with some new pans and pots tho) but overall is my sweet Hostel. Big thanks to Vivian ( Im sure I spelled it wrong ) down in reception. Always smiling and happy to help.

B.Room was clean and modern, bathrooms reasonably so, although definitely needed an update and general fixing (no door on one toilet cubicle, several showers out of order in the ladies) hot water worked fine though. Kitchen also could do with more frequent cleaning, although I think this issue was due to the guests just not caring and not tidying up after themselves. No full length mirror anywhere on the second floor, and had to visit the first floor to find one. No mirrors in the rooms, one at headheight or a full length one would have been a nice addition. Room was decent sized, however very limited airflow which meant it stank on entering almost every time, and was basically a sweatbox. Window was opposite railway bridge which was ridiculously noisy everytime a train went by. Pillows were pretty much rocks. No shelves/storage boxes or lockers in the room which meant everything had to be kept on the floor. Free WiFi is only from 7am - 7pm and pass code changes daily which meant I could pretty much never use it, so no comments on the quality. Biggest complaint though, was there was one single power point in the whole room for 6 people. And it was just under the light switch by the door. That is ridiculous. Luckily one of the people in the room had bought an extension cord from home, and everyone staying there was British. One plug socket for 6 people is genuinely ridiculous though. 3 stars because it was clean enough and didn't encounter any rats/cockroaches/ants, and I could just about sleep (ridiculous heat wasn't really their fault) - however would NOT stay here again, and would probably find it worthwhile spending the extra ~10$ a night for a better hostel next time I visit.

But you cannot eat peacefully because of ONE French guy, one employee. If you have to improve something, fire him. Pancakes should begin at 8am, but he was speaking with his friend, he stayed on the phone during 20 minutes, saying "I have to work". Pancakes were only serve at 8:30. And then he started playing his own music very loud while everyone tryed to eat peacefully...
P. W.Three stars is pretty awesome for a cheap inner city backpackers. It is what it is. I'd stay again for sure. Free pancake breakfast each morning makes it even better value. Sandwiched on the corner of Flinders and Spencer St there's no shortage of noise. Earplugs recommended.
M. H.Really loud. had to use ear plugs. but that's ok, just bring them. Perfect location. SO CENTRAL. LOVED that. Strange smell on level two. Really basic for the twin share (which was fine for us too - because great value for money). No hooks on the back of shower doors, so you had to put all your clothes on the floor which is just ridiculous. Please fix that. Numerous times no toilet paper. Needs a better cleaning regime. Looks like a really fun place to stay tho to meet people. If i wasnt on business I would've met a lot of travellers. Peace
T. C.It is a backpackers, but is exactly what you want. The bed was comfortable and showers excellent (better than a lot of hotels I have stayed at). There are lockers and a secure storage area. the communal area is spacious and kitchen has all you need.

D. S.Excellent backpacker bar that caters for all ages and locals alike. Friday nights are awesome for a couple of cheeky Bev's after the footy, with an amazing live looping musician. Sax, guitar, awesome drinks and amazing staff. Definitely a great place for pre, during, or post drinks!
J. W.it was a nice clean place, I was staying in 4 female shared room, yet there was only one charge plug which is not close to any beds. The reception wasn't friendly enough, they didn't introduce any facility or service unless you ask them question, and the day I needed to check out the girl was on the phone chatting for ages.... so the enviroment and location are perfect but if you want to feel at home, the reception here might not be the best choice. By the way, you need to pay for WiFi if you want to use, its 4 aud for 24 hours, apparently no free wifi as it said.

S. W.Over all I was pretty happy, although; I have a few little picky things I would like to mention. Very dusty rooms all the architraves were covered in filthy dust and under the beds were filthy. The bathrooms are ok but could do with a more regular clean. And they play music in the hallways quite loudly from 6am till about 11pm, very annoying. No blinds on the windows. Apart from that it was pretty ok.

S.Everyone here is really friendly. Came with a pretty big group of 26 people but the staff were really patient and handled everything that was needed to make our stay a smooth one. The rundown setting gives it a slightly homey feel which anyone can truly appreciate. Only downside is that it is a little far off from the city BUT it is near Crown Casino... soo... yeah
K. C.Giving it a 3star because I had the whole room to myself. Room 201 a 12 shared room is a nice room apart from its directly under the upstairs bathroom and you can hear (loudly) when someone is showering, or flushing the toilet every time.... I woke up once or twice thinking the ceiling had caved in and water was gushing through the ceiling to find it was just someone flushing. The hostel itself is ok very basic no atmosphere and could do with a paint job but for 25 a night you cant really ask for much.
J. B.Never had a problem with All Nations. Staff are friendly, welcoming and easy to accommodate. I've been here since early March and I don't think I'll look at another hostel in Melbourne.
s. 1.I've stayed at this joint a couple of times. Arrived at around midnight on both occasions and immediately received a couple of free beers at the bar next door. Also had a dorm almost exclusively to myself on the first stay.

C.I had a great experience with Nomads on Spencer Street in Melbourne City, firstly good value for money and the staff are very accommodating, we were a group of 5 and booked in for one week in a 6 bed dorm we asked could we pay for the extra bed so that we didn't have a stranger sharing with us and they told us no need to pay for the extra bed they aren't fully booked so they can put guests in other rooms without having to put anyone else in our room.
On the first day or our arrival there when we checked into a room a man had left his stuff behind he had apparently been sneaking in and sleeping in any spare bed he could find, the staff moved his stuff out that day and we moved in. That night we went out and left all our belongings and valuables in the room (as know one else was sharing with us we thought they would be safe) when we returned we found our room had been robbed 2 ipads money and a ipod, we told reception and they were horrified. They called the police and took statements from us they checked back on their CCTV and found a picture of the guy who had robbed our stuff, that had some suspicions of who it was anyway as rumours had been going round that he was booking into a room for one night then celotaping the lock and sneaking back in to stay for more nights. The Nomads staff sent out the picture in an alert to all other hostels in the area, they checked in with us every hour keeping us updated on what the police were saying etc then eventually just a few hours later they had tracked down the guy who robbed us he was staying in another hostel nearby, the manager took us to that hostel in his car so that we could identify our stuff, which was all there. So we got back both out ipads and the ipod, we were delighted as we never thought for a second we would get them back.
It was all down to how prompt and efficient the Nomads staff were, you could see that they were genuinely concerned and wanted to help. Apparently it hasn't happened before and we were just unlucky but be careful in future when staying at a hostel that if you haven't purchased a locker check there is no celotape on the lock of your door as this prevents it from locking when you close it.

Ein Hostel mit einer nahezu perfekten Anbindung an die Öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel und ausreichend möglichkeiten zum Einkaufen.
Ein 7eleven als Nachbar zu haben ist sehr hilfreich wenn man doch einmal etwas vergessen hat. Der andere Nachbar ist die UBar, welche zum als Pub zum treffen von Freunden einlädt, abends aber als Club fungiert und mit vielen tagesspezifischen Angeboten spaß und freude in jeden Abend bringt. Vor der Haustür gibt es auch drei Straßenbahnhaltestellen welche in Verbindung mit “Free tram zone“ eine oftmals kostenlose Fahrt in viele Teile der Innenstadt ermöglicht.
Freundliches und aufgeschlossenes Personal rundet das ganze ab. Ein Problem werden Personen die einen leichten schlaf haben jedoch entdecken. Denn über die Kreuzung vor dem Hostel verläuft eine Zugstrecke welche nachts weniger befahren wird aber trotzdem den einen oder anderen aus dem schlaf reißen kann.
Alles in allem kann ich das Hostel jedoch nur weiter empfehlen.
