H. K.Staff is flexible and easy to help out. Rooms are tidy for the price. Compared to one i stay earlier at an expensive rate this one rates 10 x for lower price.. therefore I extended my stay twice so far..cant get any better than this..very conveniently located 20 minutes walk to city centre as well..
K. C.Big room but the carpet stink. Rarely see a hotel with fan. I like it because air-conditioning is dry for me. Nice located at Northbridge which Asian can easily have food here. Little China town.
T. C.This really is a great little hotel and is very affordable. Friendly and helpful staff, clean and modern rooms. The room i stayed in I have paid twice the price before for half the quality. The only 2 faults I could find was the bed was a little hard and the hotel restaurant does mainly asian food which I can’t eat due to allergies. I didn’t eat there but I would have if there had been more western options that I could have eaten. That said when you are paying $80 per night, you really can’t gripe because they really do deliver
H. N.Staff are always polite and friendly, but the last 2-3 times we've stayed here, the room smells really bad, last time we went prepared with a bottle of Glen to spray everywhere. We only stay here because of the rates. The room seems clean for the most part, so I don't know where the bad smell comes from.

We stayed at room 54 on 5/7/21. The aircon didn't work at all so had to sleep on freezing cold. No soundproof at all people staying on next room where shouting all night. Not sure if there were bedbugs too. Me and my partner had skin rashes all over the body next morning. Worst spend, wish I could give a negative rating.

Booked a room, which cost $86..
We were placed in room 214.. right by the carpark entrance which was so small, we had to shimmy sideways, with our back against the wall to get around the bed to go to the bathroom!
*No soap
*No shampoo or conditioner
*No hand towel
*Half a used toilet paper roll
The room was absolutely ridiculous! It was so confined, with NO ventilation, NO exhaust fan in bathroom, which made it condensated and damp! We had to go and ask for toiletries and a toilet roll..
The skylight made the room bright all night, along with the hall/entrance light outside our room, along with the blue (do not disturb) light fixed to the room wall
The TV remote didn't work when trying to change channels.
Because the front of outside our room was a tiled passage way, all we heard from 7am were roller wheels from luggage trolleys or suitcases coming in and out of the car park entrance door! And doors slamming and people coming in and out most of the night
We wanted a night away from our 4 children, and were horribly disappointed by what we paid for, plus $15 EXTRA on top for parking.
So we paid $101 for the most budget room ever..
We have had better at a $60 motel/hotel.
The Indian Manager was also very unprofessional to deal with!
We definitely NOT recommend and would appreciate some correspondence from the venue ASAP!

S. S.Was asked to leave in 5 mins after an incident where the cleaner proceeded to come into the room with the " Do Not Disturb" sign clearly on. There is no way to secure the door either as the locking latch on the door is missing - they wondered why I got upset as I was in bed resting from a bad migraine - I thought there were thieves coming in. The police were called and I was asked to leave.
In all the years of travelling around Australia and the World I have never had a problem with my motel accommodation until today.
Has left a very bitter taste in my mouth.

Over many stays at this hotel for many various reasons, I've had the pleasure of staying in every type of room that they have. I can't recommend one type of room over another, they are all so nice! The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. They really try everything they can to make you feel welcomed, safe and at home! Nothing is ever too much for them, they're full of knowledge about the city and any queries you may have. Parking is secured and safe!!!! During the later evening, without your room key you can't enter the building. I stay here instead of other bigger name hotels because for an affordable hotel, I don't feel this well looked after in 4 or 5 star places

E. B.Had no expectations when booking due to price but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. Very clean rooms decent bed. coffee and tea facilities. Restaurant has great food served all day. Soon as I stepped outside straight into a plethora of Asian cuisine Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese food everywhere as well as all the bars and cafes of Northbridge. I’ll be staying again.
T.Room was clean and modern (we had one of the renovated rooms), pillows were very comfy and I loved the shower. Only real downfall is parking, the secured parking is tight and only several parking bays, we were lucky that someone was leaving as we arrived otherwise we wouldn't of got a parking spot. Overall great value for money will be a returning customer.

However, when we booked the room, we were told that we didn't need to book the onsite parking, but when we got here, we were told sorry it's all full. Very disappointed that I then had to park my car out the street side, nowhere near the hotel. They need to make it so you can book a parking space, and not as we were told when we arrived, "Sorry, but its first in first served"! Very little care factor given!

F.6 day stay extra $15 a day to park your car there is a guest laundry which you must also pay $10 to use queen bed is 2 sngles pushed together so basicly a single first 3 days my room was cleaned i bought it to thier attention on day 4 and 5 that they hadnt serviced my room and they came in sprayed smelly stuff changed towels and pulled sheets up on bed but did not change them the reception did what was neccasary but no more i get that its a budget hotel but with all the extras its over $100 a night i wouldnt recommend it to friends or family

M. P.Loved the art deco style. Rooms were just what I expected for the price. Hated the paper thin walls and being next to a couple who TALKED ALL NIGHT LONG. I'm not kidding, we got there at 11pm. Had to get up at 5am. They talked nonstop, just loud enough to almost hear everything but not enough to hear all the details. Who goes to a hotel to just talk incessantly. Obviously not the hotels fault, just very frustrating for us who needed the sleep before flying out
M.Good hotel for the price. Stayed there a few times and the quality of the room varies a lot, some are better and quieter than others. The breakfast is ok for what you pay. Great customer service and well located. They have car park but it’s payed per night.

Rooms are ok, they were clean and organised, the only point here is how the noise spread easily with almost no blockage from the walls so you can hear people discussing, in the corridor, watching tv.

J. O.The worst experience I've had at a hotel. Hottest part of the year in the hottest country in the world and they had no air con. Not even a window, vent or fan in the room. Complained several times and was told the air con was 'fixed' it was not. I've actually been physically I'll after my stay - due to heat exhaustion. Also, I rang ahead and asked if I could pay for parking and was told to pay on arrival. On arrival I was told there was no parking. I had to park a long distance from the hotel and set alarms to walk to my car and re purchase tickets etc when necessary. Very inconvenient and added to the heat dilemma. I genuinely considered the two hour drive home at 1am to avoid sleeping in my room (which was also well below expectations). Definitely wont be staying again.

D. W.Three stars because it is a three star hotel. It's not in the most pleasant area of Perth CBD but its not too bad walking distance to explore the city. Lots of Asian foodie area which was a plus for myself. The room is very basic and outdated but otherwise good value for the price of each room. The budget rooms however are very dusty and if you suffer from allergens it can really flare up at this place. It's not dirty but just dust.
j. l.Cheap double accommodation $65 the hotel caters for all up to premium close to the city but not situated in the best area. Id recomend a cab into the city for this reason.
Secure car park is available but its first in best dressed. Room was above average for the price id say 4 star at 3 star prices.

C. M.I originally booked the cheapest possible room at this hotel but had to upgrade once I got there and realised that the room didn’t have a window. I think this should have been made explicit in the room description. The upgrade to a room with a window cost me an extra AUD100 but was worth it.
The street the hotel is on can be quite noisy. In fact I called the police at 2am one night because a couple was having a loud and aggressive argument in a parked car on the road outside my window.
Restaurants nearby are almost entirely Asian themed. I had to walk an extra couple kilometers into the centre of town to find greater variety.
The hotel is centrally located and I was able to catch the bus I needed to get to the University of Western Australia. I also did some day tours with various companies on the weekend and they were happy to collect me and drop me off at the hotel.
Overall the hotel was comfortable, clean and affordable with a good location.

M. B.I've been here for 4 days, the hotel is adequately appointed, clean, well managed, very good food. Everything works well. Staff are good, on the ball and helpful, parking very secure. I would definitely return. Ok it's really 3* but with a pool it would make 4* .

B.Booked a room with free breakfast however told it was only for 1 and would have to pay for the other which was our mistake because my partner had accidentally only clicked that the room was for 1 but it was free to begin with and would have been free for 2 had he just clicked a different button but they weren't able to help rectify it. Room was sold as no windows and sunlight - and was the poorest excuse of a sunlight, off in the bathroom. Blankest were just like a throw that you would put on for decoration. Can hear every possible noise going on in and around the hotel. Was woken up at 5.20am by a very loud banging that sounded almost like a door or hatch being blown in the wind. Has the potential to be a nice hotel but our experience wasn't a very nice one.

J.Stayed here with my boyfriend as we are in a long distance relationship, I absolutely loved the inn vibe the hotel has, The staff were lovely and allowed us to have the same room that I rebooked again on the night,, parking was brilliant, pricing was equally as brilliant,, the bathroom is lovely as well as the rooms! Sadily the beds were a let down as two singles into one which was uncomfortable also the taps to the shower were in a dodgy position but over all will definitely come back to here!!
S. H.I read those review saying the reception was fantastic, however not to us. During the check in, we wasnt been greet, the lady in the front desk tried to avoid eye contact with us. The next morning we woke up and we saw the corridor covered with a cloth and realised it was painting going on without notice. After we had our breakie and went back to our room realised the room card had no access. We went down to approach the reception and they just simply asked what's your last name ? Not even a manners of greeeting or apologise for the fault. And asked us was it spending 2 nights. Well have to give them some credit on the spotless room.
m. h.I was a bit concerned traveling the back streets to get there late at night, but this place is fantastic. The value for money is great. Being a former resident of Perth I had not realised how vibrant the Asian quarter of Perth is. Very pleasant walk into the CBD.

The room had one double & one single bed (although we did not request that), mini fridge, iron, TV (no channel). Bathroom was clean & tidy. I checked 3Hrs late & for that i was charged 10$/hr. No free wifi. The room is perfect if u need good bed rest.

N.When I first stayed here almost 2 years ago I would have give. It a 5 star rating HOWEVER the last 3 times I've been a guest here the customer service or lack there off was appalling! The way the receptionist yelled my room charges to me through the foyer was just one of the many poor forms of communication I received whilst on my stay. I will never stay here again.

D.For me, this hotel is amazing for the price, I’ve stayed in many budget hotels in perth and this one is fantastic, the rooms are great and the customer service from all the staff is exceptional!
C.Two stars goes to the friendly and polite staff. The rooms were absolutely filthy. The purple painted walls had white stains above the bed head, one guess what that was! Light fittings hanging out of the ceiling and off the walls. The bedding was covered with stains. The view outside the 70's green opaque curtains was very scary. Graffiti plus plus. Clientele was very poor, looked like ladies of the night hanging around out front and in the foyer. Upgrades happening everywhere, smell of paint. A guy with his shoeless heavenly pregnant partner was making a scene and arguing with staff. Drunks with their life belongings camping out front.
Counted our losses and moved on to the Travelodge, clean, comfy and safe!!
I wouldn't let my dog stay at The Great Southern in Perth!!
G. S.One of the best hotels in Perth its in my top five. Great spacious clean rooms, friendly staff, awesome restaurant with very cheap $12 buffet breakfast which was delicious I've stayed here 30+ times and it never disappoints
B. P.Nice clean rooms, great service staff, very reasonable prices and fairly central in Northbridge. Rooms are basic but have everything needed and have been recently refurbished. Parking area is a little difficult to navigate in a larger vehicle.

The couple next door to me were shouting and having a domestic dispute both nights that lasted into the early hours.
The photos show what looks to be blood spatter on the walls and ceiling, the bedding was literally non existent and seemed very old, the complete presentation of the room was extremely poor with wall paintings missing and generally dirty.

D. C.To be honest... You get what you paid for. Clean rooms yes. But thin walls. Centrally located was a large part of why we chose this hotel. They make their money from the expensive wifi and $15 a day paid parking...
S. B.Reception allowed early check-in. Parking was an issue as several bays were full of builders materials. We paid for secure parking upon check-in. However after going out and then returning to park the car only to find all bays full. Was advised by the gentleman at reception they had just sold the last bay. This was clearly over-sold. Then said our only option was to park on the street. Not very happy with that as the secure parking was one of the main factors we booked this hotel.
T. A.Nice hotel in Northridge, close to good Asian Restaurants and a couple of bars. Rooms excellent although the one I'm in looks like it's just had a full refurb. Tea/Coffee making facilities, Microwave and Fridge in room. Iron and Ironing Board and large screen flat tv.

a. m.Bloody cheap for what you get, also a layover hotel for airlines, heaps of hot hosties to chat up, would recommend to any bloke. Wi-Fi is $10 for 24 hrs and is quick enough, will definitely stay again at this hotel.

It was a last minute interstate trip to check on my mum. I wasnt financially prepared for all the hassles with room deposits etc and was quite visibly shaken due to personal reasons - and this room deposit.
They threatened that id have to leave entirely if i didnt calm down.

w. b.Three stars for the reception and management . Ive stayed here nearly 2 weeks now due to work push back . Very cheap price yeah its run down but doing renos and will look nice . Down fall. Fri sat sun it is dead set a brothel everyone is banging all night except me.

H. R.Worst place to stay ever!!! Hidden costs and fees. Wifi was ridiculously pricey! It felt very 50 years ago. Nothing was convenient-EVERY thing came with extra cost: hotel parking, wifi, luggage storage, housekeeping. The staff barged into our room without being invited in to "check" the phones. I was in my pajamas and not dressed! The bedding was dirty. The blankets were very worn. The TV small with a horrible picture. The walls were paper thin and the staff was rude and unhelpful. There felt like there was illegal things going on in the hotel like drug trafficking. Every thing was dodgy about this place! So there is my warning. We found a much much better hotel in downtown Perth called The Pensione. Free wifi, clean, updated decor and cozy duvets. The price was amazingly great!!

Checked in with my 7 year old Son after flying in from up North for a specalist appointment!!
Staff took ages to check us in but where friendly enough had to pay a extra $15 a day for parking..
was booked for 5 nights so become pricey..
First 2 nights no sleep what so ever.. had noisy guests next door that keep us up all night!! Called reception at 4am after not sleeping all night as they where still making a noise.. spoke with reception at 8am to see if we could be moved and was told they had checked out so I was happy enough with that..
The next night they put a group of people next to us.. even noiser then the night before! Had rang reception for ear plugs yes in paid accomadation!!!!
She advised me that we would be moved the next day into a ungraded suit on the otherside of hotel where it was quiter.. so finally was able to sleep!!
Ended having everything cleared at the specialist for my Son and was able to check out and fly home a day earlier...
No refund of parking or room rate.. excuse being I booked online altho they had the power to give me a refund refused which I thought was poor considering the first 2 nights where awful..
Never will go back and will be telling everyone what a crapy place it was..
B. S.Boxing day ...Overnight stay good staff great room good secure parking...1 major problem I had to pay a $50 bond which was fine. I was informed the bond would be returned in about 3 days. It has not been refunded into my bank account as promised . I rang 12th January about problem and after giving details I was disconnected so recalled and repeated my problem and again disconnected while waiting for reply from staff member to check why so rang for a third time and immediately received a automatic no number tone after several more attempts after Now its 17th January now I find this very unprofessional and inappropriate behavior from The Great Southern Hotel Perth

T. M.Rooms are out dated but currently being renovated but this starts at 7am in the morning , and doesn't stop even if you complain! No regard for guests or the fact most don't like being woken up by a drill, hammers or workers swearing! not somewhere to relax!!! Air con didn't work. The list goes on!
J. P.I had 3 nights in the Great Southern Perth. Location is good, cleanliness is just ok in general. Anyway I would stay there again as the price was very good compared to other hotels in Perth.

K. B.Booked this room as I was just passing the area to pinnacles so needed a place to sleep after my flight got in at 12.15 am. Unfortunately sleep is not what I got, the walls are super thin and I could literally hear what the people next door were saying. Also was woken up at 4 am as there was a cuffufle in the room next door. Also the bathroom showers floor were sticky.
N. P.Very affordable and comfortable hotel rooms. Very nice area that is within walking distance to bars, restaurants and public transport. Secured off street parking.

S. c.I had a horrible experience, in terms of customer service. I made a booking for a check in on the 25th of August, at 12am. The system altered the time to 2pm on the 25th, without my knowledge, and I didn't find out after arriving at the hotel. As soon as I got there, I was greeted rudely by the receptionist. The door has a security system where only a worker can open it. He sighed over dramatically, indicating that he was aggravated by me (even though it's his job). I was carrying extremely heavy luggage, and he offered no help, and there were only steps where I had to lift up my suitcase. Having no where to stay, I began to grow worried, and the staff member showed no signs of empathy, and had a smug smile on his face, simply shrugging his shoulders and saying "that's none of my business", and did a shooing gesture, when I asked him if he knew any other nearby hotels where I could stay the night in, as they were full. I began to panick, realising my phone was flat. I asked him if I could charge my phone anywhere, he sighed again, vaguely pointing to the back of the room. I walked over to look for the PowerPoint, but couldn't find it. It was only then, he decided to stand up to help me, of course not forgetting to sigh in aggravation, and making a "it's over here. Can't you see? Open your eyes" comment. Not very happy. I was also charged the full $65 for the room, even though I did not stay.
J. F.Was a room however discovering the next morning that i was stung 15 bucks 2 park my car the next morning left me less than enthused. However the restaurant was a great feed.
S. B.Five stars IF the constructions side in the hotel is finished. But not yet. Make sure, that you don't need so much sleep when you stay there at the moment. The rest is excellent.
