K. R.This old style hotel which has been renovated was a great venue for our daughter and her friends 21st birthday here. The accommodation was booked for 35 exclusively for Friday / Saturday night. The rooms which revamped were clean, beds were comfortable and rooms were good. Offers share bathrooms which worked well for this group and also small kitchenette with fridge available. Ideal for a weekend getaway in the Hunter Valley. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and accommodating, the beer garden ideal for a function and everyone had a great weekend. Thanks again to Jade and the staff at Abermain Hotel. We would thoroughly recommend as a venue and it was ideal for small functions.
R. P.Tucked away in a quiet quarter, the Abermain Hotel proudly declares itself as the oldest commercial building in this once thirsty mining town. Jade Smith, licensee, is typical of the energy and enthusiasm it takes to uphold such a title.
Affectionately known as Griffo’s, the local has been preserved in federation free style featuring an impressive lead-light window at the top of the cedar staircase and a lookout tower.
We booked a family room in early autumn only to find we had the whole place to ourselves. At $179 a night, it is certainly good value for money.
There is plenty of room around the tiled hearths on winter nights or out in the pleasant beer garden on sunny days. Why not not pull up a stool in the public bar alongside loyal patrons past and present and soak up the fine selection of regional beers, ciders and vintages.

P. K.Great old pub. Heaps of history. Food from cafe was average at best. Taste ok but served cold and undercooked. Not good for a 25dollar big breakfast.
M. M.Nice little pub. Staff are friendly, the weekly food vans offer a nice change to the regular pub meals offered everywhere else. The beer garden is also quite lovely with the lights on.
S. M.Our family friends had a baby shower last Saturday and it was just beautiful. We drove up from Sydney and were not expecting the place to be so nice. Best pub hotel rooms my partner and I have ever stayed in. The food was so good and the staff are amazing. The beer garden is a hidden gem. Will be back again in the summer for sure.

The rooms and amenities upstairs are beautiful also been fully renovated leaving all the original features including an amazing period fireplace. Sheets were fresh and clean and the room was spotless
This hotel is a gem and we will definitely book here again the next time we come up to the hunter valley
S. S.This 115 year old hotel has been lovingly restored to its former glory . It offers a bar area with TAB facilities and Keno and its very clean and tidy . There is a cafe which serves some very nice food which is reasonably priced . There are also rooms available to stay in that are very cheap and basic ' but spotlessly clean .They also have different food trucks on the weekends .
G. C.Great pub! The staff are all super friendly and the food is great too. The garden at the back is a really cool place to chill out and have a few quiet beers. The rooms are super comfortable too. Looking forward to staying there again.
D. B.Visited here after a trip to the hunter valley. The staff were amazing and friendly. We took part in the pub quiz which was really fun and even won ourselves some meat! Facilities very clean and always every drink was served with a smile!
M. O.Loved this place, just what I needed. Coming from Ireland I do fancy a good old fashioned pub and this place was it. I was in The hunter for a weekend and this pub was just great. Recently restored from what we could see, it had everything we needed, a bar, restaurant and great location not far from the wineries.
Enjoyed it very much and would definitely stay again.
G. D.Pretty good pub. Just started making pizzas for the first time today, (01 Nov 2019) you really need to try....yummy. Chef will look after you and any special needs. Beds comfortable. Only 4 stars as no aircon in rooms. Fan supplied. Also accomodation is on second floor so unfortunately not wheelchair friendly. Nice place to get away from the rat race. Close to the wine growing region.

L. I.Screaming kids in small dinning room was horrible but meal was good, felt over priced for what you got and chips and salad are extra on meals which is a first. Wouldn't be first choice on next outing.
S. C.We recently spent the weekend here fir a concert in the Hunter Valley. It was such place to stay and very cosy and super clean as I was told it was just recently renovated. The beer garden out the back was beautiful and just perfect for us to start our day before going to the concert. The staff were very helpful and the location is very close to all the wineries. I would definitely recommend the Abermain to anyone who wants a nice weekend away.
S. V.A few friends and I went up to the hunter valley for the weekend. The hotel is so lovely. The rooms are stunning, the food is really nice and staff are super friendly. Spent the day out at the wineries and it was only 15 mins away which is really handy. Will definately be back.
