Very good hostel especially in price/quality ratio. The double rooms are spacious and have their own mini fridge a sink and a table. The staff was amazingly helpful especially Joe! They provide you an Airport pick up for free witch is something worth some dollars. The only negative thing i can recall was the guy that kept making pressure on everyone to leave the kitchen as he always started to clean and store things away even before the breakfast closing hour.

Jolly swagman is an amazing place to stay due to its colourful atmosphere and friendly staff like nabel and sam who notify backpackers of any work available as they have a Facebook page with work available from local businesses so u will have work available if u want it. Rooms are spacious with some having fridges and tv's and sinks to wash hands which is a definite plus for those who prefer to stay indoors. As I stayed in a couple of YHA hostels and unlike them jolly swags doesn't tolerate troublemakers and will kick out people following day which is good as it feels more safer here.

The jolly swagman Backpackers was by far the best backpackers that I stayed in during my 6 weeks in Australia. It is actually really clean (way better than any other hostel), everything is well organized and they put thought into all the operations. The staff care about the customers and even ask for ideas and feedback on how to improve the hostel. I was impressed at first, but even more so after going to other hostels that pale into comparison.

The Jolly is an amazing hostel. I came here by myself and i made so many good friends that i will have for a long time. Everybody that stays here is so friendly. It is also in a perfect location in the heart of kings cross. The staff are great with helping people find work and the transport from Kings cross is very good to travel around the city. The entertainment is excellent in the hostel we go out every night and get free in to clubs and free drink witch is good for backpackers travelling on a small budget.

Stayed in a private room mostly, which was a good price compared to a lot of other places we checked Staff were incredibly friendly, always nice to chat to Dated decor but was always kept really clean by staff Kitchen was always kept immaculate and hostel rules kept it running perfectly Showers were good When we did stay in a dorm for a few nights, in March, and it was unbearably hot. There's no way we could've stayed there in the dead of summer, even this was too much. Moved to a twin room when one became available and still it was too hot. Eventually got a double room near the front of the building and it was a lot cooler and became okay at this point. Air con would go a long way in the rooms People staying there were easy to get along with, could go out for drinks a few days in the week which is always good A good hostel overall

I stayed here 2 nights and got a room to myself. Staff are friendly, my room was clean . It wasn't loud at night (i was fully expecting to wear earplugs) and honestly the bunk beds are so comfortable. I swear they have higher thread count sheets than i do at home.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful during the entire stay and I met some wonderful people during my 1.5wks here. The place is located quite close to kings Cross station and is quite a short and safe walk considering the location. However, the rooms are unfortunately not air conditioned nor do they have appropriate ventilation - hence the rooms do get quite hot during the summer. The laundry is also quite expensive to run - it may be cheaper to just use a laundromat. Overall you do get what you pay for and if all you're looking for is a place to spend the night short term this place isn't half bad :).

This hostel is brilliant, the staff are friendly and always around to help. Kitchen/ bathrooms/ dorms are clean everyday and the common room has a Tv with great movies. Met loads of great people and the evening events gets everyone involved. Fab place to come whether you're travelling solo or with friends.

Coming in the hostel feels like joining a family. I stayed here several times in the past 8 months, sometimes for a couple months. I have seen a lot of improvements along the way. Staff is nice, rooms are good and clean, shower is goood, common room is equipped with enough seating places (enough means that you always have a place to sit, but you need to be social), a large tv with Foxtel and Netflix.

I had a wonderful time here. We didn't use the kitchen as it looked messy and breakfast didn't look appealing to us but there are plenty of cafés around. The location is pretty good, 30 min walking for the CBD by the Botanic Garden. The rooftop is cool but everytime drunkpeople look at us strangely.

We happened to check-in this place at latenight around 1am. Unbelievably, there was someone at the reception at that point of time to help us. Great job! Room was so tidy and cozy for a backpacking accommodation has to offer. Had a relaxed hot shower in the morning in their common bathroom. It was so refreshing to start the long day ahead. While in check out, the person at the help desk willingly guided us with map and directions to the nearby attractions as we were new for the city. Loved this place. Will definitely go back when get a chance.

Not easy for me to climb up my bed. The shower and most toilets were on another floor. Very slow WiFi or you pay for a faster one. Quite early check out time at 9am. But there was breakfast in the morning.

It was okay. A little rowdy and cold at night but it's a hostel not a hotel. You just can't expect the same kind of perks. The guys working the desk were helpful with questions and things I needed so no complaints there. There is 4 floors and no elevator so yeah, bummer. Overall the location had a lot of food options nearby and to get around wasn't that hard. Price is in par with what you get.

My family spent the weekend with four other families. ***ager/ service crew greet us at the door to welcome us at 9pm. The cleanliness of the hotel was great. There was plenty to do around the hotel. I guess you get what you pay for. Jolly Swag*** is a great place to go.

Everything seems to be clean everyday. We booked here for the free shuttle and as it advertised as being a backpacker place that helps you find work. The location of this hotel is excellent and very strategic. Staff is really friendly and they organise bbq or kind of pub crawl.

Stayed there for a week in a double private room and it was nice. Room was tidy and not very noisy over the weekends. The staff were friendly. Free WiFi drops connection frequently during the peak hours (5pm to 11pm) which was understandable. During non peak hours it was very fast. Had a mishap on the first day. A cockroach flew into the room as I had left the window open because it was very hot. The staff apologised but anyway I took care of it. Didn't have any other incidents after. Overall its nice secure place and value for money over other backpackers in the locality. Will stay there if I visit Sydney again.

Great location next to King's Cross meaning you can get to and from the airport and various parts of Sydney. We were lucky to have a fan and a balcony as it was very warm even coming into the Aussie winter. Lots of people love here which creates a family atmosphere. I stayed at the Jolly last summer and my experience was AMAZING! It was my first time as a backpacker and they make me feel comfortable and welcome straight away. The staff was very friendly and they have entertainment stuff organised every day. Great location and the cleanest hostel around!

Best Hostel in Kings cross, period, reception is extremely helpful, responsible. Free breakfast, basic but fits the purpose unless if you are a cooking fan or a veggie. be sure to grab their weekly offer. Compared laundry and facilities to other hostels (i stayed in over 7 places). The swag man is 6$ in total, for washing and drying, yet, washing is 30 mins+, others had 15-20! for double the price! many subtle differences.

An endless array of fun!!! the swag man ticks all the boxes in your hostel needs with comfortable sleeping, 24hr security, local amenities and the hostel provides you with entertainment from Poker nights, movie nights, free BBQ's to going out and having a few jars with your new best friends! the staff are really friendly and make it feel like a homely environment! i met some friends for life here in my travels and i would say to anyone that this is the best place in my eyes for meeting new people, having fun and loving life!

Good service and location, however pretty dirty. Linen not washed and cockroaches in the showers. Room was very small but as expected from a hostel. A plus is that the hostel is locked for outsiders during the night, so it's pretty quiet and no party place, which is good if you just use it to spend the night.

The staff are amazing, they will do practically anything for you and were very helpfull. The location is great, close to everything you need and the places you want to see, plus very close to the train station, you can get anywhere you want. The people you meet are friendly and you will usually end up with a couple new friends by the end of your trip. I highly recommend this hostel to everyone wanting to travel to Sydney.

I've met some absolutely incredible people at this place, and after 2.5 months, I'm incredibly bummed to be leaving. Pros: The other travelers (all down to drink/party, chill out and watch a movie, or adventure to the Blue Mountains, Shark Point, Manly etc.), the staff (can't say enough good things about Sam and Joe, and the cleaner Bahrat), the location (kings cross is a hell of a place to be a backpacker), the room size (I think an 8 person room is the biggest they come, but most are 4 person, and all for the same price). Cons: The wifi (it's 'free', but really not all that usful), the neighbors (don't hangout in the park beside the hostel into the night. Even just chatting you will get yelled at). Overall, I'd recommend to one of my friends to stay at this place. You're going to be hard pressed to not have a good time.

The free wifi works fine, but there is also the $5 premium internet for 24hours which is perfect for streaming. I can recommend this hostel for everyone.

The room we were assigned to was just perfect for our stay. People will go out of your way for you. The staff are so friendly and eager to help in any way. To be plunged into the young backpacker scene in the middle of King's Cross was really quite fun.

Located 1 min walk from the main street in kings cross so we were close to the shops and bars but then stayed in a quiet area. 2 min walk to kings cross train station which will get you to the city in less than 10 minutes. overall it was a great experience and will hope to get back again

To start this particular hostel is my prefered hostel due to three main reasons. The first is Jolly Swagman is clean and also is cleaned regularly. The kitchen is large and is kept clean as well. The second is nightlife/entertainment which is not just good but great. Nearly every night there is food either discounted for the hostel or free. After the food, the nightlife is good. The hostel, as a group, goes out and has discounted entry which makes the choice to go out easy. Lastly, the atmosphere at Jollys gives you a small town feeling meaning the people are friendly, polite and are not afraid to help new people around the hostel. Jolly Swagman is a Great hostel and I give it full marks all the way around.

My stay at Jolly was really joyful. I have met so many nice people from all over the world. I stayed at this hostel for tree weeks before i went to the eastcoast. The staff is service minded and are tere for you 24/7. The dorms are also very clean and the free breakfast is a plus. The location of the hostel is also good its easy to walk to the main tourist spots and close to the train station aswell. In the evenings they arranged activities and took you to the bars and clubs. I really recomend this hostel and especially if your travelling alone!

One of the best Hostels I have stayed in and I have stayed in alot. The staff was wonderful and got me out of the house so to speak and got active. Always had things for me to do and look around town. Night and day there were people there to help in every fashion that I needed. I recommended this place to anyone visiting Sydney. Had maps that helped me out alot. It was close to everything also as you can walk to Sydney Opera House in 20 minutes.

I've been in Australia for a while and stayed in loads of different hostels but the Jolly is definitely one of the best! The location is great with everything you need on the doorstep; the train station is 2 minutes away, there are 2 supermarkets and lots of different places to go drinking! The atmosphere here is awesome, if you want to go out there's an organised night out for every night of the week with free entry and a free drink, but as there are also a lot of long termers who are working there's always the option of a quiet one on the beanbags in the TV room. There are also regular organised day trips out to the beach or whatever which is a great way to meet people if you're travelling by yourself. There's also cheap (or free!) dinners every night, this is great if you're on a budget or just can't be bothered to cook. I would definitely recommend staying here during your time in Sydney, the dorms are clean and cosy, the staff are always friendly and helpful and the other guests are awesome! :)

The Jollyswagman hostel was my first destination in Sydney having arrived from Asia for the start of my working holiday, friendly staff helped get me set up with my Aussie phone, where to go to get my Tax file number and all of the usual life admin stuff. The hostel itself has a homely feel with a combination of people staying on while working and those passing through on their travels. There is always a fun night out to be had at the Jolly with the entertainment team leading the hostel out to local nightspots with free entry and cheap drinks deals. The facilities are pretty good with a kitchen to cook your own meals although it does get busy at dinner time but apart from that the showers and dorms are clean and comfy. Good location for nights out and a short walk through the botanical gardens into the CBD. Would definitely recommend a stay at the Jollyswagman if you are ever in Sydney.

I have stayed in MANY Kings cross, Bondi backpackers. The Jolly swagman is the best. Simply speaking, the place is well managed and is laid back. The management tries always to help, they even help newcomers find a job really easily! reception CARES about issues. lots of stuff and services are included in your booking. Good luck saving a 10$ a week to have a bed in a 12 man, items getting stolen, being forced to inhale weed or just in the shower beside couples having sex.

The jolly is in a great location, close to the train station, the cross main street where the bars, cafes and supermarkets are .However It is set back off the main strip so it is fairly quiet. It has a great atmosphere, its not party party party but if you want to, the hostel takes you out every evening to the backpackers bars etc. Its like a family as people have been here long term including me (Aug 13). its well organised, bathrooms cleaned everyday, rooms every other day and theres always someone at reception to help you. Jolly Swagman is a very nice hostel located in the heart og Kings Cross. It is close to many bars and restaurants. They have happenings every evening like BBQ, movie night or a free entrence to one of the nightclub in the Kings Cross. The staff is very friendly and nice and the hostel is clean. It has a big kitchen where you can prepare all your food and there is also free breakfast included. I will definately go back!

Por otra parte el servicio de limpieza se pasa la intimidad por ahí abajo, por las mañanas va una mujer habitación x habitación pasando la aspiradora y le da igual si estás en pelotas, si estás durmiendo junto a los compañeros, o le da igual lo que estés haciendo. El desayuno que se supone que es gratis lo es porque solo hay leche, cereales y una tostada. Aparte, yo pague para la reserva 28 dólares de los cuales me dijeron que al dejar el hotel me los devolverían, de los cuales sólo vi 20. Eso del servicio de transporte gratis mejor búscate la vida porque yo recién llegado al aeropuerto ahí no había ni dios, y tienes que lidiar con una agencia de transportes que duda de que te vayas a quedar en ese backpacker que supuestamente tiene contratado ese servicio de transporte
