K. J.Such a lovely small & homely hostel, I have stayed here many times on my visits to Sydney. Always super clean, and I love the modern bathrooms, a lovely surprise compared to many hostel bathrooms. The location is 10/10, right next to Victoria Park & Broadway shopping centre, and a 10 minute walk to Newtown - the best suburb Sydney has!!
M. F.By far the best city hostel that I’ve stayed in. Rooms are very clean, have lockers, beds barely make noises and the AC works very good. The kitchen is perfectly equipped and the free breakfast is a great plus! Showers are really great and clean as well. They even have hair dryers and an iron & iron board.

Kerry was a friendly face to see on my way in and out of the hostel and she was so helpful when I needed more information about things to do and see around Sydney. You could tell she genuinely enjoyed chatting and no problem was too big or small whether it was to do with bedding or room bookings or using the facilities. It’s awesome when the people at reception are nice and have good customer service and Kerry was great! Would definitely come back if I needed to and will recommend to others

+ The location is good: not right in front of the Central Station but easy to get by walking or bus. Across the street is a big shopping mall with a big supermarket. There are also tons of restaurants around with reasonable price.
+ The free breakfast is simply but plenty.
+ There are four shared gym passes to use a nearby gym, that's pretty cool.
+ Locker, a reading light and electricity socket for every one in the room.
- There is little common space given the size of the hostel. Basically just the dinner room, which is often packed and loud especially in the evenings.
T. A.Nice hostel, friendly staff, great atmosphere and easy to make new friends. Showers and toilets look modern but some mistakes were made while installing them so some would not lock. Not enough space around the sinks for your stuff if you're looking to freshen up a bit. Space in the kitchen was a bit too small for the amount of people. Still, definitely recommend staying here.

S. Z.I stayed in a 6-bed dorm at Mad Monkeys. Bed was comfy, and each bed has a power plug and light. It´s close to the city centre with good connection to public transport and shops are just across the street. Bathrooms are modern and very clean. I really enjoyed the free breakfast and there are events every night, some of them including free food, that make it a lot easier to meet other travellers. Would highly recommend!

Wonderful breakfast and nightly events that is put on by an amazing staff. Hannah was wonderful and helped us out the entire time. Also Across the street from a large park, we had lunch there a few times during our stay.
H. D.It's a really nice hostel with a good location right next to the beautiful Victoria Park and the Broadway shopping center. You can meet a lot of people but it's not too big so you get stressed out. The kitchen is small but you get used to it very fast. The staff is amazing and everything is really clean (shower/bathrooms/kitchen/rooms). The showers are modern and you have unisex toilets as well as toilets for men and women separatly.
I saw a lot of people coming back here from the hotsel they booked afterwards because most of those were apparently not as good as Mad Monkey.
Would definitely recommend it!
m. l.I was unlucky in that there was a very loud (drunk)group in my room for the majority of the night so I slept terrible, it wasn't the hostels fault but there is definitely more 'party' people than in some other hostels. The room are very small but it wasn't really a problem. The Air-conditioning in the rooms was amazing, I was actually cold during the night. The bathroom was just renovated it looked like, the showers were one of the best I've ever seen, but they constantly changed their temperature, so you would set it and it got colder and warmer during the shower. A bad thing was that the stalls were small and had no room to put your stuff. Kitchen is tiny. One of the worst points for this hostel. Being in the kitchen with 5 people would make it crowded,imagine being there during breakfast. There also weren't enough spoons available? So half the people were staying their cereal with a fork. Overall a small and busy ( not always in the good way) place, personally would not return but if you like the more loud and party lifestyle it probably a good hostel.
E. D.The staff is really what sets this place apart from any other hostel I've stayed at in Australia! From the moment we walked in with out late check in they were so friendly and willing to help out. We got shown around the hostel and had plenty of recommendations for what to do with our two days in Sydney. The reception staff went above and beyond and helped me to forward a letter that I sent to the hostel cane a day after I checked out. The hostel had a homey feel to it and was well located. Cannot recommend this place more!

c. w.Right in the heart of the CBD. Brand new bathrooms and nice large beds. Large kitchen. There is a park across the street where they have a free BBQ once a week. Staff is lovely! Hannah is so sweet and helped us out the entire time we were there. Highly recommend this hostel, if you are looking for a nice hostel with a great experience.

Staff are happy to help with any enquiries, there's a friendly atmosphere and it's always super clean. It's small enough that you get to know people, but big enough that there's a good vibe and stuff to do.
Location is great, the hostel is walking distance to Central Station and there's a shopping centre across the road with everything you need.
A. R.The place has a very laid back and homely vibe. The beds are comfortable and clean enough however expect little to no privacy if you are sleeping in a dorm room. The breakfast was alright and the only thing I didn't like were the noisy guests in the hallway at night.
R.Had the best time here, the hostel is really modern and clean, it's in a central location close to lots of transport. It's really sociable and it was super easy to make friends which was great as I was travelling alone! Hannah made me feel so welcome and helped with all my questions about Australia! J. W.Stayed here two times with 5 months in between. Over all decent hostel. Pretty small, feels more homey than the big hostels. Kitchen is small but sufficient. Location is ok-ish, you'll want to take a bus into the city unless you want to walk for half an hour.
My only complaint is that it's pretty pricey.

G. D.Decent location near central station (15min walk) and opposite Victoria Park, plenty of nearby cafes and a mall. Kitchen and common area is small for the number of guests, very cramped. Breakfast is simple hot drinks, cereal and toast (toasted/flattened in a sandwich toaster). Rooms are basic but beds are comfy and huge lockers to go with key cards for the rooms. Good number of showers that are also a good size. Clean throughout. Not great value for money bearing in mind how expensive it is (beds are old, tiny common area), after travelling for over 6 months it's definitely not a flashpacker place as their website eludes to. Good social side, organise predominantly drink related activities in the evening most days - enjoyed the free toasties night. Decent overall but don't expect something polished.
W. M.Clean, very tidy Hostel with nightly events. Everything varying from a free dinner to film nights and taco and beer for 5 bucks. Air conditioned rooms with very comfortable beds. Free access to Netflix at anytime with an unlimited supply of tea, coffee and biscuits in the common roo. Well equipped kitchen with community spices, salt, oil etc. Will definitely use again when I return to Sydney.

M. J.Not ashamed to say I have spent a majority of my year and a half in Australia staying here. When I first arrived scared and lost they were the most helpful friendly people imaginable who helped me find my way in a bustling city.
And now, returning a year later with new management the exact same feel has percevered. Great staff, respectful guests (Due to respectful staff) and a cosy place to both work and play. Working in a suited office job is no issue as I have always been placed in a room with similar minded people with similar working patterns.
Highly recommended if you want to make the most of Sydney. I have been to many other hostels in Sydney where there is a constant turnover of first time Sydney'ers who just want to get drunk and do nothing. Whereas at Mad Monkeys people like to stay long term with the option for the party lifestyle if they choose. Located close to Central station & all the bars/clubs you would want in both newtown and the CBD this is somewhere you could call home happily whilst in Sydney.

It looks like a normal hostel with no special interests, but it is safe and well cleaned with frequent cleaning, no cannabis smells, WiFi is strong, breakfast is served, there is an oven, a personal light, a personal outlet. there is. It is very rare and thankful that all the above conditions are met in this price range.
Personally, I liked that I had a hairdryer and a curling iron.

何軒もバックパッカーズホステルを渡り歩いてきましたが、ここのホステルが1番良かったです。
特に面白みはない普通のホステルのように見えますが、治安も良くこまめな清掃がゆきとどいていて、大麻臭くなく、WiFiは強力で、朝食が出て、オーブンがあり、個人の光、個人のコンセントがあります。この価格帯で上の条件が全て揃っているのはとても珍しく、有難いです。
個人的にはドライヤーとヘアアイロンが着いていることが気に入っていました。

Great address in a super cute part of Sydney. In the area you can find everything you need (supermarket, post office, pharmacy, etc.) as well as many cute cafes and bars. The hostel is very clean and the newly made showers are fantastic! Almost only volunteers work in the hostel, which makes the atmosphere very familiar. Especially if you are traveling alone, you will not have any problems making connections here quickly! A big plus on top is of course the free breakfast and the activities that the hostel offers every day such as free toasties or BBQ in the evening as well as sangria and nacho night!

Super Adresse in einem super süßen Stadtteil von Sydney. In der Umgebung findet man alles was man braucht (Supermarkt, Post, Apotheke, etc.) sowie viele süße Cafés und Bars. Das Hostel ist sehr sauber und die neu gemachten Duschen fantastisch! Im Hostel arbeiten fast nur Volunteers, wodurch die Atmosphäre sehr familiär wirkt. Vor allem wenn man alleine unterwegs ist, hat man hier keine Probleme schnell Anschluss zu finden! Ein großes Plus on top ist natürlich das kostenlose Frühstück und die Aktivitäten, die das Hostel jeden Tag anbietet wie kostenlose Toasties oder BBQ am Abend sowie Sangria und Nacho Night!
