The Hostel in ok, large kitchen but many broken fridge The down part is there is carpet in the rooms, and I guess the carpet hadn’t been deep cleaned for a while so my allergies came out Also I really appreciate there is a lot of sofa in the hostel but all of them are very dirty, please deep clean it

Stayed here awhile ago great location very close to everything but 3 of the staff where extremely aggressive the kiwi girl reckoned she’ll get me black listed for nor reason and she reckoned that she’ll lie to management to get her own way the maintenance guy is a complete sleazy as he was trying to pick up the young people here if they didn’t go with him he would steal there things while they were out.

I love this hostel. Great for backpackers and students. My favourite in Sydney. Big shout out to Poly, Adam, Damon & Nic !! The staff are friendly, funny and genuinely helpful. They have really good common areas with a lot of space, including a TV room, a terrace (nice to hang out in the evenings or to catch some sun) and a very big lounge area. It's in the city, but it's tucked away behind Adina and a little carpark so you feel like you're not at the forefront of the busy lanes unlike some hostels on main roads. Clean hostel, good showers. Old manager was great but so is the new one! Very special hostel with a unique vibe.

BEST hostel I've ever walked into! Cleanest, kindest, friendliest, comfiest, so "central" and even with the added value of heritage-listed!! Soon-to-be integrated into a tall timber tower......... and relocated.... Get in before it's toooo late to see these train carriages and heritage-listed mail-sorting centre, connected to Platform One of Central Station, Sydney! Such lovely staff...!! Great conversations! Stayed here for around 4 nights. Amazing staff and service. I stayed here on my first visit to Australia and they helped me in every possible way! The rooms are clean and neat. Close to the central railway station and have many restaurants around. Prices are fairly cheap and a good value for money.

My stay wasn’t bad. The toilet and shower were big and clean, but the room was small and hot with no air-conditioning. No luggage storage. But before my stay, the lady on the phone was very rude. I booked a non refundable one through booking.com but something went wrong with my work unexpectedly, so I couldn’t make it on the day I scheduled to check in but still needed to pay the full price. So I politely explained the situation and asked her if there’s anything she could do for me and she said “If you book a non refundable room that means you need to think before you book.” I’ve been working in hospitality for quite a long time as well, can’t believe she spoke like that to her future customer.

Not very much but some VERY good things to say about this place. Clean rooms. Clean bathrooms WITH HEATED FLOORING FOR TGE WINTER, large and luscious dining/sitting area with TV Room and a wonderfully large kitchen area for all kinds of cooks and chefs. Great staff and facilities and right next to central station. The only downside is you can hear the train announcements and sometimes the passing of trains bit it honestly isn't so much of a trouble when you go wider all you have that goes with it! 8/10

This is a good and comfortable place to stay. I stayed for a week here at the first time I cone to Australia. This hostel super clean, have large and many bathroom. If you want to wash your clothes, you could go upstairs and you'll find laundry machine. If you want to cook your own meal, they offers large kitchen full of home appliances that you need. You can buy some vegetables in the grocery near the hostel. They offers free breakfast (bread and tea or coffee). Also, you can fill your tumbler with fresh water. You'll get cheaper if you book in a couple days.

Nice big place in the middle of Sydney city to stay long term if needed, durning the lockdown is nice and relax hostel. 🇦🇺👍😎

The railway carriage is simply great. It has the feel of living in a train platform. I love the rather clean room. I had a rather restful sleep in one of the railway carriages. I did not get to talk to others as they seem to be in groups, and I am busy with my own commitments. I feel safe in the hostel. If you need a more peaceful rest, sleep in the regular rooms :)

Location is good for the price if you're wanting close to the Harbour, and excellent of you're wanting close to the train station. Overall, very supervised and well kept. Facilities for cooking are very well organized and stocked. This hostel seems to attract groups, so it's a bit hard to find connection if you're traveling alone. Internet and air conditioning were acceptable, although noise from trains may be a problem for light sleepers.

Was a mixed bag experience for me. Our room and bedding was clean but our ensuite was grubby, the shower in particular needed a good scrub. Staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. Location was perfect - close to transport, shopping and food. A good, centrally-located hostel that abuts the train tracks of Sydney Central Station. In fact, some of the rooms are styled to look like train carriages and sit behind a glass wall adjacent to the real tracks of the station. This means, though, that in the morning you may wake up hearing departure announcements for the first trains of the day.

This place is so centrally located that you can take any form of public transport to and fro at any time of the day. The staff are quite friendly and the weekly plan that includes breakfast gets you real value for money. The rooms and facilities are clean, the WiFi is easy and free to access, the kitchen is spacious and well maintained. Ultra friendly, courteous, helpful people who were able to help me out, although i am far from being a youth anymore, when i found myself having to stay over night in Sydney before catching a train. Their sister YHA directed me there, after a quick phonecall, when they were unable to help me. Loved the fact my room was actually an old "red rattler" with 2 sets of bunks setup like a dorm room & right next to platform 1 but it was still quiet & clean with bathroom facilities a short walk from room and very, very reasonably priced considering other places close by were charging way more for virtually the same thing. The YHA is very clean and modern. The carriage rooms back onto the upper platforms at central. The sound does permeate into the rooms of a night, particularly the announcements, but the sound of the air conditioner mostly muffles it out. The plugs beside the beds are USB type A inlets only, which is suitable for most people but was unsuitable for me to charge my phone. I would stay here again but if you're an especially light sleeper you may want to consider a room further from the station, ear plugs or the YHA across the road.

Also right next to central station so easy access to everywhere. Walk through china town to darling harbour in around 20mins or down to the botanical gardens and opera house in 30. Would highly recommend.

it was the most expensive backpackers I have ever been in Australia. however I felt it had beyond excellent facilities for backpackers. It was clean which I liked the most, I felt safe with Key Card(You have to tap the door to enter any doors), One thing which was a little bit uncomfortable was the squeaky bed. Communal area's very clean. The free shuttle bus is a good way to get to circular quay without walking for 30 minutes. The hostel was centrally located being only a very short walk from some of Sydney's mains streets and attractions. Staff very friendly and helpful when needed to answer questions we had.

I stayed for around 8 days. I stayed in railway carriage. The place is really good if you are looking for budget place to stay. Staff was friendly and polite. You usually get breakfast for 5 or 7 AUD and dinner for around 10-12 AUD. The food quantity is good. You have Xbox and open area to sit and enjoy. Also you have kitchen area to use. The only downside or minor set back was the train sound coming from the railway station which is just nearby.

I have stayed in this hostel for 3 months now and have to say it is one of the best in Sydney. Everything is clean and tidy, staff are very helpful and friendly and the atmosphere is very chilled. Perfect if you actually want a good night sleep rather than being woke up by a load of drunks. Also provide breakfast if you pay a weekly rate!

You do pay a premium to stay at YHAs, but in this case, it's worth it. The Railway Square YHA is a great little place to put one's head for a few nights. The location is very convenient to trains and buses, if a bit less convenient for groceries and sightseeing (not bad though). The rooms are reasonably sized and clean, the bathrooms plentiful and fairly modern. The kitchen is spacious, with plenty of room for food and cooking. It's a bit pricey, but you do get a lot for your money here.

The place has its unique loctaion, that's undisputed. Part of the hostel is renovated train carriages that are located on part of the old platform right next to the working platforms of central station. Free breakfast on the weekly rate which is a bonus. Highly recommended Sydney CBD hostel.
