If you're looking for a 4.5 star hotel a short drive from Sydney, then look no further than The Anchorage at Port Stephens. Forget that official 4 star rating, this one deserves at minimum another 1/2 star. My wife and I recently stayed in a beautiful "loft apartment" overlooking the marina. Our room was extremely comfortable with a king bed, two large screen 4K televisions, and a full supply of spare towels in the bathroom. I have always thought that two of the most important items in a hotel are, the bed and the shower. Well I am pleased to say that they were fabulous. There is an excellent culture among the staff and they were very helpful at all times. There was a delicious breakfast buffet selection which catered for all tastes. Lunch could be taken either indoors or outside, and for dinner there was an additional "Fine Dining" section for those who appreciated outstanding cuisine. Another excellent feature was the fact that they have two seperate swimming pools. One for families, and one for adults. All in all, it's a great place for a weekend, or longer if you can..............

Room- the room is small. Very small. The bathroom isn’t entirely practical with a very small shower screen water always ended up all over the bathroom. However it was very clean which I loved. We were in the room that was closest to the kids park and the beach, however be warned if you are staying on that side then be prepared for parties on the beach/fireworks youth being youth. Not ideal if you have a baby so just be prepared, just ask for a room on the other side of the resort if you are concerned.
Food- the food was good not amazing but I would say good. Lunch doesn’t start til 12 dinner not til 6. Breakfast buffet was standard. Would be good if they could incorporate local produce/seafood into the galley restaurant given the amount of amazing seafood available locally
Staff- this is one that I think Waa really hit and miss depending on who your had. I think that both wait staff and patrons should have respect for one another. Most staff were absolutely lovely however there was one mature lady who had previously been mentioned in a review who I really felt I was walking on eggshells around at breakfast on the 3rd day we were barked at for not giving our room number when we had never been asked before. I don’t mind doing whatever but was but there is a way to speak to people.
Location- incredible

From the time we walked into reception area to the time we checked out the service was impeccable. My husband and I were there for our 10 year wedding anniversary and when we checked into our room the staff had left a complimentary bottle of wine congratulating us. The staff were friendly, professional and the entire place was clean, the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable , could not recommend this place highly enough. Great escape from the hustle and bustle of life. Thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The lovely lady making coffees at the restaurant is an asset to the resort always friendly and it didn’t feel forced like in some places. The resort also has an adult only pool area as well as a family poor area. Will definitely be back

This review should be closer to 3.5*
Location and amenities are great, especially 2 pools and proximity to the park and nice beach. Excellent sunset and sunrise from the marina.
The part, which is subpar is the staff.
-20 minute wait for the beer at the pool, when there was less than 10 people around to serve
-Found a couple of the hotel staff smoking and sitting on the bonnet of our car !!! in the underground parking, smoking! After notifying the reception of the incident, they've nonchalantly said they'll pass on the feedback and they've left it at that.
-20 minute wait for a morning coffee, around 7:45am. Again when there was only 5 tables to serve at that time. When the coffee finally arrived towards the end of our breakfast, waitress dumped the coffees down on our table (all in the same spot and not next to each plate. Most important is convenience of the staff not the customer, right?!) 2 coffees were already spilled and leaking on the outside of the cup. The waitress was totally unfazed.
+ for introducing some pool towel policy which seemed to help a bit with deckchair 'towel hogging' at the pool in the past.
Overall still good place for holidays, if you manage to stay away from the incompetent and rude staff.

Every moment felt luxurious. The front staff were welcoming and helpful. The bar tender Ellis gave an incredible explanation on gin and was friendly and experienced. All staff were professional and the room was magnificent. Clean and beautiful. Will be back

Perfect escape from busy Sydney to experience a slice of tranquility and luxury. First time stay and definitely hope to return again. We booked a 2 bed loft (there’s only two of them), and it was magnificent. We loved just looking out the large bedroom windows to see the panoramic marina below us. Even the loft room upstairs was very comfortable and we enjoyed every minute of it. In terms of the setting, you just can’t beat it- the boat life is so nice to take in and the restaurant was very good too. One note about the staff- service quality is first class. Everyone from the waitors, reception, bar to cleanings staff were so friendly, we felt very much at ease here. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Anchorage room was really underwhelming. Would recommend upgrading to a better room (if you’re keen to pay for it). Also, the hotel really needs to separate families with small kids from couples and honeymooners. It’s sold as a luxury hotel but not too luxurious when you have screaming kids (and screaming mothers) next door. We had a family of 6 next to us and it really killed the luxurious, romantic vibe we were hoping for. I had high hopes for this hotel but overall was a bit disappointed.
D. B.
Beautiful setting, furnishings and overall feel. Nice touches in the room, such as free water, chocolates and a dyson hairdryer! The staff are friendly. Adult only pool option…we had a really lovely stay.
M. P.
Great location. Rooms are nicely appointed and very comfortable. Separate family friendly and adult only pools, the best of both world's. Relax with a quiet drink or catch up with friends at Moby's. The restaurant has a fabulous view and good food with friendly staff. Definitely recommend a relaxing stay at the Anchorage.

Absolutely the best place we have stayed at in years! We visited for my husband’s milestone birthday and the welcome champagne was a great way to start the weekend. Joel at reception was so helpful and gave such wonderful customer service. We were upgraded and there was complimentary champagne when we got to the room. So we enjoyed sitting on the balcony overlooking the bay and marina while passing the time before dinner.
When we got to dinner in the galley kitchen (we were told it was the more casual dining venue) but the food was soo good it was anything but casual, so fresh and delicious! The surprise at desert just topped it off!
Thank you for such a wonderful weekend. The location, privacy, great food, wonderful staff all made for a memorable time.

I stayed at The Anchorage for the first time this weekend. From the moment we arrived I knew it was going to be a great stay. A beautiful location with excellent staff. In particular, the staff in Reception and the Restaurants were great - a big shout out to Benny, Leah and Angela for taking such great care of all their guests.
A. D.
Excellent location, would highly recommend. Fantastic adult infinity pool with poolside service between 12 and 5. Shout out to Shanay who upgraded our room and made sure we were looked after.
d.
From the moment we arrived till the end of our stay was an absolute memorable experience! The rooms, the food and customer service is second to none! Big shout out to Ali, Benny, Carlos, Alex, Jan, Mariah, Catherine and allllll the staff at The Anchorage!
Can't wait to come back again xxx
P.s I recommend everyone should try the Grilled Spanish Mackerel @ The Galley Kitchen 😋
C. T.
The hotel is self is lovely! Lovely feel! Great decor, lovely pool great beach, great location. Lots to do! Room size ok. However the staff were questionable. Some things seemed hard, or an effort and annoying to multiple mature age female staff. Our suggestion is get more bubble, happy, staff that like their jobs. That want to offer outstanding service to match the lovely setting.
K. w.
Great place, kids friendly with family pool And playground. Even quite expensive for us it is good experience of enjoy. Garden view room is nice but no tissue in room thats unexpected.
M. D.
We stayed here last month and honestly the best Service and Accomodation in the area! So happy, so relaxed, dinning at The Wild Herring was amazing! Definitely have to try the oysters!
E.
Would come again. Room is in excellent condition.
Would be good to have Asian variety breakfast buffet
M. L.
Food rooms breakfast very relaxing place staff very welcoming and I just fall in love with the place the moment I walk in
C. E.
The rooms, the grounds, service and staff were all amazing. Perfect location and views. A special mention to Rodney who made sure you started each day with a smile and a laugh at breakfast. He went above and beyond with everyone who entered the doors.
B. H.
The Anchorage was just stunning! The whole place was so picturesque. Rodney from
The Galley Kitchen was just amazing each morning we had breakfast there he was so accommodating and went out of his way to ensure you had everything you needed. We will definitely be back!
A. G.
Beautiful room. Superb staff. Beautiful location. Below average bathrooms.
C. B.
Our first stay here, even though we’ve been coming to the area for over thirty years. We have loved every minute here. Service has been great, with some nice touches which meant a lot. Watermelon handed out in the pool area- cute!
Food was lovely, spa treatments professional and relaxing.
Very happy with our stay. 😊
S. J.
Good food, great location and a first-rate waitress really made our lunch truly memorable. Take a bow Angela - you're GOLD!

A beautiful property right on the water - most rooms have stunning views of water & the marina. Recently refurbished, rooms are large, bright and contain all the mod-cons one expects in a 5 star establishment. Beds and linens are super comfortable. Bathrooms are a little basic (no bathtub in our room) but toiletries used are top quality. The area is well landscaped and the sunset viewing deck is a great place to enjoy the stunning sunsets. My only critique is the use of plastic faux grass in some areas of the property - IMO if carpet grass is hard to upkeep, wooden decking or something natural would lend more to a upmarket ambience. It’s good that there is a separate adults only pool in a quieter area.
Breakfast is included & is delicious and generous - we skipped lunch on the 3 days we stayed. From Thursday to Saturday nights - their specialty Seafood restaurant Wild Herring is open and it is well deserving of all the accolades and awards received. Our 3 course meal was simply outstanding - delicious fresh seafood cooked in modern and refreshing styles. Definitely make it a point to dine here.
Overall we had a great stay, service is professional and helpful - highly recommend a few days to take in the delights of the Port Stephens area.
J.
Beautiful location and rooms but the customer service was absolutely terrible. I would not return or recommend for this reason.
D. &. T. A.
our experience was absolutely terrible!
1, We arrived early 11:30am, we were told the room was not ready, the receptionist took our details and said,” I will ring you when your room is ready’. Well this did not happen.
We arrived back at the hotel at 1:30pm and we were informed the room was ready, we did all the paperwork and we were given the door keys.
We were not welcomed, we were NOT offered the champagne on arrival as stated on our booking. we did end up getting the champagne after I had asked for it, very embarrassing and disappointed at the same time.
2, The room 107, the toilet seat was broken, I.e. not on the hinges, this was not noticed until I sat on the toilet seat. I did fix this myself. I do not understand on how this is possible as the room was just cleaned?
3, Carpet was wet in front of the fridge, it looks as though it was there to clean a stain. This was only noticed when I noticed my jeans were wet after kneeling down to use the fridge.
4, The internet, did not work 23rd- 25th May 21. This also meant that the TV did not work either. This was mentioned to the receptionist numerous times without any positive result. We were constantly given conflicting stories, depending on who we spoke too.
I did write you a small note on check out, I gave it to the lady who looks after the reception area, hopefully it will be passed on to you.
On two occasions I did ask if you could contact me during our stay so I could talk to you personally, each time I was informed, ‘ I don’t know where he is, oh, he is not in today’.
My wife and I have stayed at your resort many times previously without any issues, on the occasion it was a disaster, it was a surprise for my wife’s 50th birthday, what a surprise! My wife was so embarrassed, she would not even come to the reception to checkout.
I do hope you look into this as it should not have occurred in a resort with the status of The Anchorage
P. Y.
The place itself is beautifully situated as are the views . We have stayed here 3 times but requested in writing AND verbally before arriving, NOT to be put in rooms with the buildings MAIN aircon outside the room.
We had a bad experience with this taking UK visitors, early last year. Then they were given a replacement room, it was beginning of Covid so we were very welcomed.🤔
Our requests on our 3rd visit was totally ignored and complaints hit a brick wall with the MAIN RECEPTIONIST(black suit) not main desk!
Only when we refused to accept the room and was told no refund would be given and that there were NO other rooms free, did we insist on speaking to THE Manager(who did not have the courtesy to come out and face us) did they magically find us another room!
Not the greatest room by any means but at least no horrific air con noise.
The breakfast staff are what makes this place enjoyable along with its location.
WARNING DO NOT ACCEPT rooms ending in -: 16/18 .
w.
The tall lady in black suit at the reception was very rude. The room furniture was different from the photo in the hotel’s website. The restaurant food and service were good. Nice water view. The beautiful young lady in white shirt at the reception was very friendly and made us feeling welcomed. However, the rude behaviour of the lady in black suit destroyed everything.
Y. L.
Awesome rooms here with amazing views of the marina. Very relaxed posh feel to the whole place. Definitely recommended if you want a more refined experience.
We tried their restaurant however and was quite disappointed. The wild herring is an almost fine dining experience but unfortunately without the proper culinary expertise. Pretty much all our dishes suffered in terms of the sauces and the flavouring.
S. S.
The hotel, decor and facilities are comfortable and classy. The view from the balcony in the Anchorage Rooms are beautiful and worth staying here for! Also loved the fireplace in the lounge area.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the delicious sparkling wine served when we checked in. Breakfast was a la carte due to covid restrictions but still given a good quantity of varied items. Breakfast meal was good, but could be improved with more flavour. Pizza we ordered at the bar one night was great. Dinner at The Galley Restaurant was disappointing - small portions, average taste/quality, very limited variety on the plate.. certainly not worth the high price!
Highly recommend the hotel, we'd love to stay here again.
D. P.
I have stayed 6 times. One of the best hotels ever...
E. S.
We had a wonderful stay here. The environment is quiet and relaxing. The room is fab and sparkling clean. No expectation for the quality of free breakfast, but it did surprise me. Reception service could be improved though. Other than that, everything is so perfect!
J. C.
We stayed there for my birthday over the weekend and had a beautiful and relaxing time. The scenery is amazing and we were actually able to spot both the sunrise and sunset from our window. The rooms were cozy and great size for a couple's stay.
However, I can't give it a full 5 stars because we found the cleaning staff really noisy outside our room the next morning. We wanted to sleep in a bit but by 8am the cleaning staff were vacuuming, shouting across the rooms, and just making alot of unnecessary noise just outside our hallway... It was quite unpleasant.
h. s.
We are currently staying here and everything has been great.Read a few reviews on trip advisor and was going to cancel as there was so many negative reviews. However the place has been great the reception statf were very friendly even though so many reviews said they weren't. The rooms are very nice and the breakfast has a huge variety and very tasty and quick service. The spa is very nice ! Only complaints are pool is not heated even on 26 degree day the pool is too cold to swim. The room walls are thin and you can hear the showers running and kids screaming etc babys crying.
T. C.
Place was lovely friendly staff. Was overpriced but cheaper rooms available. Views were amazing breakfast was 5 star happy to revisit.
J. D.
The anchorage is just beautiful, they accommodate for families and couples.
The view is one you must see!
The rooms are fairly priced for the location and rooms are beautifully presented.
We went for a quick honeymoon get away with our infant son, they accommodated for him a portacot with blankets.
There is an outdoor pool which doesn't seem to be heated for the families but there is also a adults only pool.
You must take a wander throughout the anchorage it's just stunning.
The staff are polite, professional and helpful.
Thank you for our fabulous stay, can't wait to stay again.
J. F.
My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights in early Dec 2020. Lovely spot, nice views, comfortable rooms. Service here is 3 stars, similar to a Holiday Inn, but with an added superiority complex.
A. R.
Locations and the place itself was nice. I sent an email complaining about some of the services in the room and still haven't heard back 3 days later...
There was also a long list of complaints on the reception desk so seems they are resolving these issues.
On a positive Rodney at breakfast made our stay that much better. He went above and beyond to make our experience not only at the anchorage but at Port Stephen.
D. v. d. M.
Rooms were clean, breakfast was amazing. Only criticism is advertising King beds is two singles joined together. I know many places do the same, but still...
G. Y.
Excellent spa service - completely relaxed my husband and I, we both had the restore package. We were under the impression that it was a couples massage but we were put in separate rooms. Other than that, it was fabulous!
s. c.
Stunning place, great rooms, the grounds are absolutely beautiful. The accommodation is set right on the water, couldnt be better andvthe staff and restaurants were beyond awesome.
B. C.
We had a lovely stay and enjoyed the vibe, food in multiple restaurants and friendly staff. Nice rooms and bathroom amenities. Unfortunately our room had paper thin walls and we could hear neighbours on each side talking and watching tv. Will return and ask for a different room away from where we stayed.
S. N.
Beautiful Hampton style rooms, perfect location and breakfast was always delicious! Rodney also made our stay extra wonderful, he is an absolute gem! We will definitely be back again!
A. Y.
Excellent spot for a weekend getaway. Great buffet breakfast has everything and friendly staff are always helpful.
Pool area was very clean and well kept, view of the marina is very relaxing. The rooms are also spacious and in great condition, very convenient parking right outside buildings too so you can park right near your room.
Highly recommend this to anyone traveling to the Port Stephens area!
P. D.
Food was Chef’s Hat standard, Michael Jenkins is an excellent chef, in the restaurant or room service. Everything is done to a quality, tasteful standard.
Friendly welcome with champagne on arrival sets a luxurious tone for the stay.
Ordered the best of everything but the bill was only about $1000 for 3 days, good value.

The spa experience was excellent! Taking the romanticise treatment with the Lami massage was a great choice. The team were welcoming and friendly, the facilities were clean, modern and oh so relaxing. The massage was divine. A wonderful experience.
T. B.
Reception service was slow, drinks were constantly empty, small meal sized however food was tasty. Much room for improvement. 4 stars was for location and views.
l. w.
Had an amazing stay here with my Husband and Son, all the staff were lovely, had a slight issue with the room we booked as we booked for 3 people and we got given a room for 2 people but as soon as i contacted the hotal the issue was resolved right away. Would 100% return and also would highly recommend to friends and family.
Thank yous very much.
S. R.
Great hotel with amazing views! We stayed in the master suite. We loved the chateaubriand for dinner and the breakfast (I loved the breakfast bruschetta).
Reason for 4 stars over 5: the walls are thin so you can hear other guests, we pre ordered a cheese platter and chocolate covered strawberries and never received them (they did refund us but only after we asked at checkout), and we had emailed and received confirmation to reserve a dinner slot however the staff did not have this when we arrived (at least there was spots available).
R. G.
We had a delicious 2 course dinner and enjoyed every mouthful. We also appreciated the prompt and friendly service until it was time to get the bill. The restaurant was a bit busier by then and it took a while to get our bill and then waited ages to pay it. Overall all a lovely dinner.
K.
Wow... I can’t believe the negative ratings... maybe it’s the way people approach it.... any issue we have had has always been addressed promptly and we have stayed many times... it’s our go to resort. Ali the manager welcomes feedback... and toss in Rodney, Angela and staff at breakfast we consider it one of the most enjoyable resorts in the world... going back in May .... our 4 night stay was sooo enjoyable!!!!!!
K. L.
Fantastic resort, beautiful rooms and balcony to relax. Great range for breakfast and the staff couldn't be more accommodating. Rodney was of great service as was the chef who remembered our eggs and omelettes just the way we like them - 5 stars to them. The office manager Abdallah ensured our stay was amazing. Beautiful resort, great facilities, impeccable service.
H. C.
Set next to the wharf it is a beautiful resort
- Located close to the waters of Port Stephens, this resort is an artistic place of stay with old quarters & new amenities
- Staff is very good & helps you well
- The breakfast spread has all options for travelers from around the world. Try their seafood its good
- Rooms have large french windows which offer the views of the water
Stay here if you like the water & want to experience the pristine views
L. T.
A very beautiful and classy accommodation, inside and outside, that transports you to a movie scene. The room was impeccably clean, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Food in The Galley during dinner is hit and miss. Great variety of healthy selection at breakfast. Service was polite at the front desk of the hotel and at the restaurant. They could do with more real warmth. But some of the service waitstaffs were amazing - - helpful and more genuine. Overall, a wonderful experience! Will be back during warmer season.

The Anchorage is my favourite hotel. I stay in hotels very frequently, probably 10 or 12 times a year, and often enjoy a lovely weekend away. Usually, I will never re-book but I would stay at the Anchorage time and time again and have already stayed three times. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful, we found ourselves chatting with the bartenders and waiters by the pool on more than one occasion. Buffet breakfast is vast and delicious. The rooms are large and spacious and the decor is beautiful, everything is wonderfully kept and decorated and adds the best touch to the stay and the atmosphere. You feel like you're in the Hamptons. Every room has an incredible view. No other hotel comes close, and even though there is not much to do in Port Stephens, the hotel IS the attraction, and worth travelling for. My only piece of criticism would be that there was no porter for our luggage. I will be a returning customer for years and years to come.
W. K.
My partner and I stayed here for our 1 year anniversary and can I just say what an absolute GEM of a Resort.
We were firstly greeted by a lovely lady at the front desk who offered us a glass of champagne on arrival. NO WHERE and I mean no where my partner and I have been have been offered champagne on arrival and it was amazing.
The room was amazing and cosy. With doors opening up onto the marina. Just absolutely breathtaking.
They have a pool here but we did not try it because of the temperature.
The Restaurants they have are amazing but ill write a review on the fine dinning one another time.
We also had breakfest each day. This would be the only sore point of this trip as the breakfest options and quality were not great.
However overall just an amazing, beautiful place to stay and we will definitely be back in the future.
M. V.
We had one of the best lunches ever. From the wonderfully friendly staff, to the bayside setting, to the fantastic food, we were thoroughly looked after the whole time we were there. Staff members Carmen and Angela went the extra mile to help celebrate my birthday. Totally recommend this wonderful venue - no hesitation.
S. S.
Lovely exclusive hotel in Port Stephens! The service was fantastic, lovely facilities. Rooms were clean and tidy with beautiful views over the marina. Dinner in the Galley was wonderful with lots of flavour. The adults only pool is also a nice addition but was busy! Overall a lovely hotel to stay in NSW I would highly recommend.
A. F.
Attention to detail was ever present here, whether it was the cleanliness of the room, the facilities available, the dining options, the extensive bar selection, and particularly the customer service was of the highest standard.
By far this is the best place I've stayed in, in port Stephens. And if you're sensitive to noise around you then you will love this place for its quiet ambiance. Can't wait to come back again.
P. C.
Lots of eateries and cafes. Pleasant outlook.
D. B.
Visited the hotel using a luxury escapes deal and we were not disappointed. The hotel was warm bright and inviting and the staff were very informative. On opening the hotel room door there was definitely a "wow" factor! Room was comfortable and well presented.
Walking around the hotel and surrounds it was relaxing and inviting and it was so peaceful it really felt like a getaway.
The only negative was the restaurant at night, there was some confusion as to which one we were in as the more casual restaurant sort of hugs the other. It felt more like a corridor. The food was very nice and it was reasonably priced.
Z. P.
My partner and I had the best time at Anchorage. One of the best hotels! If you wanna have a romantic time away or just to visit with kids it’s perfect destination. Beautiful pool for adults with amazing views. Plus staff is really lovely too. Highly recommend
N. N.
I attended a work function and stayed for 3 days. The resort itself was beautiful and regularly maintained. The rooms and facilities were clean. The staff were professional and polite. The location was quiet yet close to many activities. The range of food and canapes served here were delicious. I would highly recommend for both holiday and work functions.
C. K.
What a beautiful hotel, our room overlooking the Marina was lovely. We had a superb dinner in the restaurant and our breakfast was a tasty buffet style, which was included in our nights rate. Would come back again!
J. “. H.
Beautiful hotel, really nicely decorated rooms, super clean. Very friendly staff - had complimentary champagne on arrival. The location is fantastic and the breakfast is the best I’ve had anywhere in the world. 11/10!
R. S.
Great place with amazing views and outlook across the marina.

We had our wedding at The Anchorage, Port Stephens on Friday 15/11/19. The venue really is a hidden gem. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect location.
I used the executive boardroom for myself and my bridesmaids to get ready in and throughout the day was able to order food and drinks. This was located directly across from our bridal suite, so convenient once were able to move our belongings there. The suite was part of our wedding package as we had more the 60 guests.
Our ceremony was held on the sunset terrace with a beautiful bay backdrop. This was followed by a sensational charcuterie grazing station served on the terrace next to the reception room.
Breanna was our wedding coordinator, she made the whole process smooth and easy and she accommodated our last minute changes. She was wonderful. I really can't thank her enough.
The reception space worked well for our 78 guests and the food was outstanding. The staff were amazing. Thank you Rhys (sorry if I've spelt this incorrectly) for taking care of our bridal table, you were awesome!
The bridal suit itself was beautiful, it had a balcony with stunning views of the marina. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was quite a big size with plenty of great bathroom necessities. There was a mini bar fridge which we enjoyed. The space was more than enough for two people.
We finished the next day with a buffet breakfast, absolutely delicious with a great selection. We didn't use the pool but I'm sure it would have been refreshing.
Finally as part of our wedding package (more than 60 guests) we also received a $200 spa lucca voucher which we used for a full body massage a few days before the wedding. It was just what we needed to feel relaxed and refreshed before the big day.
Highly recommend The Anchorage, we certainly will be going back for our anniversary.

Absolutely love this place. Stayed in an Anchorage Room which had a beautiful balcony to watch the sunrise over the ocean each morning. The buffet breakfast was lovely and we had dinner one night there as well by a large fireplace. Will definitely return!
S. G.
Loved the atmosphere at the hotel, large rooms and wonderful bar. Had a wonderful stay for my honeymoon.
T. M.
My husband and I stayed at the hotel before starting our big adventure. The area generally is delightful and would have no hesitation in recommending. The location can't be beat, it's fantastic. The traffic is easy to navigate. Thank you …
F. L.
Best hotel in Port Stephens ….
Can’t wait to visit again.
B. L.
It is a great place to stay. We took our boat there for three days and just stayed put. The kids enjoyed the pool and the spa (so did we). We all enjoyed the restaurant and the games room overlooking the harbour. The facilities were clean and spacious. For the price of a Berth, you get a resort holiday. The marina staff know boats and are eager to help. They even provide a small lounge with coffee machine for free. We'll be back.
R. S.
It was decent. The Thai beef salad was good. The oysters were delicious but we're lacking lemon. Service was average, took a very long time to get water. For the premium price I would expect this to be more on point.
G. J.
Great place. Have been twice. Avoid room 101.
Make sure you get one of the nice rooms with views.
Breakfast is amazing and the dinner at the restaurant is good.
Spa was very relaxing.
Will be back but not room 101.
A. W.
Im only writing a review to the miserable people who think its ok to wake up and ruin everyone else's day by writing bad reviews about people trying to work hard for a living looking after you. Stay home don't go out we don't need you in our life. If you don't like noise stay home if you didn't get your coffee stop crying, stay home, you people are annoying. 5 star to the Anchorage for all services given . Keep up the good work guys. Thank you for the great service and food.
Y. N.
one of the best stays ive had , food, service and comfort is unmatched- definately coming back.
S. H.
Lovely place to stay, the rooms are clean, the views are fantastic, the food is amazing. Recommend to anyone wanting to get away from it all. One of the best places to stay in Port Stephen’s.
G. W.
Great place, large comfortable rooms, friendly staff and right on the waterfront.
P. J.
Just perfect!!! from the room, food, service, just so friendly ..Thanks Rodney for the champers🍾🥂👏🏻
M. S.
A great weekend getaway but in a highly competitive travel market feels a little dated. If not for the fantastic people who work there (especially in the restuarant) it might not even be a four when considered on a value four money basis
T. M.
Stayed here for a ro***tic weekend with the hubby, and all expectations were exceeded. The room size is very good. The surroundings of the hotel is just superb. Rooms were lovely, I believe our Loft suite was recently refurbished. Only ate at the buffet breakfast and it was excellent.
A. P.
Spacious rooms but a bit dusty near beds. Bathrooms had a great selection of nicely scented toiletries and had a lot of spare towels. The hotel's restaurant had a wide selection of hot and cold breakfast stuff.
M. O.
What a fantastic place for a relaxing weekend away. Gorgeous setting, clean and spacious rooms and beautiful food.
Staff are very helpful with a good sense of humour.
We will be back,Thankyou.

Had a weekend away with my family - very pleasant experience. Would definitely recommend and come back!
I love that they had separate pools for children/adults and an adults only - great if you want to enjoy the serenity away from screaming children.
A. D.
My partner and I came here as his father had bought us an overnight stay for Christmas. The place is quite luxurious - although I haven't been to the Hamptons, I'd imagine it would be fairly similar to this place. The decorations and furnishings in the rooms are quite sophisticated and comfortable, although the toilet in our bathroom kept running. There are two pools - a family one and an infinity style adult one. There are restaurants and bars there (Happy Hour between 4-6), however we prefered to go into town to eat to explore the area. In the morning there was a buffet breakfast with heaps of hot and cold and gluten-free options (breaky was included in the price for us). It's a very scenic spot, right on the water and not far from other places. The staff were alright - some were friendly while others were quite brusque and inattentive.
I feel like the place is very much suited to wealthy baby boomers as it is very posh and luxurious - one of the spa treatments will set you back $445! But if you can afford it and want somewhere romantic and luxurious, then The Anchorage is the place for you
A. K.
It was a very pleasant stay at Anchorage. Loved the place and the friendly staff. We had our wedding anniversary dinner at the Galley Kitchen which was fabulous! Will definitely come back for longer holiday.
A. E.
It's our favorite place in the Nelson Bay area. We always have such a relaxing, peaceful stay when we go there. Almost a private beach out front, always the only people on it. We can watch the dolphins play from our balcony, and we love the nautical theme of the place. Cant wait to go back soon!
A. x.
I have come to the Anchorage 3 years in a row for my partner and i Anniversary and my Birthday.
Great service at the buffet breakfast always welcoming with a hello or a good morning, asking if we need a hand or anything.
Rooms are very clean with robes to wear and slippers to take or wear through out your stay.
Definitely will be coming back for the forth time ☺️

The Anchorage is one of the best resorts we have ever stayed at.Everything was 5 star .Staff were so friendly .They couldn't do enough for you.Rooms were beautiful and immaculately clean .Breakfast is fantastic. The Galley restaurant is a must . Would recommend to anyone wanting a getaway .
A. S.
Stayed here a few weekends ago and it was a fantastic getaway. The service was impeccable and the rooms were just divine with a view of the water. They were in the middle of construction, adding rooms and other facilities but we didn't even notice. If you're looking for a getaway family or your partner this place should definitely be an option.

Excellent quality. It has been a long time since I have found a hotel with clean and modern amenities with fresh and inviting service in Australia (apart from a few in the city). This is top quality. Small bay just within walking distance. Great walks also and pillows are comfy. The place is completely renovated and layout is ideal as it is quite spacious. We booked with buffet breakfast included too. Cups and cutlery were spotless in the room too. We ate at the restaurant and it was so fresh and tasty... linguine with prawn, kingfish fillet and smashed kipfler potatoes.
C. “. W.
Great location and excellent food for any kind of event or overnight stay. The view is spectacular and the foreshore is awesome to walk around. Certainly can't wait until the pool is finished and will definitely recommend the Anchorage to any business or family looking to get away and experience Port Stephens.

Poor pictures, but this is what I’ve got folks!
Had a beautiful experience here; too beautiful to spend too much time, in taking pictures. However, I’ve got chance to take some drone cinematic shoot. But I may keep that for myself.
Really nice place, but, the most important thing to me, it’s the service, the rest it’s just, stuff, buildings, things...
Service: 6*
Best welcome ever; not because we had champagne (we spent enough money to deserve it, actually lol).
The ladies at te reception were beautiful and smiling, and, we had a really professional well serviced check-in.
We tried to break the check-in rules, asking, if we can get it in advance.
They didn’t say yes, but most important, they didn’t say “no”, which it’s more important.
Every company has a policy, and this is my favourite one; when they keep satisfying the guests, still doing their job, and giving them the “sensation” to be, grant! I know it’s hard to understand my point of view but, I love to review, giving a whole point of view.
Ps: is this a continental breakfast, or a “last day’s of your life request”? I never seen something, that big and various. Thank you guys: I never been that happy to feel stuffed.
J. H.
A magnificent location, very comfortable accommodation, quiet and peaceful, with helpful, pleasant staff. The food was delicious and plentiful. The beautiful weather may have affected my opinion, but it would still a wonderful place to stay inside, when the weather was less accommodating.
J. D.
This is my favourite place to stay in NSW. The decor is a classic take on nautical shieke, combined with the luxe hamptons take, so many beautiful pieces which are perfectly suited to the location and lifestyle.
The food, location, services and staff were top notch throughout each and every stay. Not to mention the spa, which is incredibly relaxing and the scents are tailored to your needs with a massage.
I can't wait to return again.
M. M.
We had an apartment and it was OK, but very dated and a bit shabby in places. Lovely balcony, but covered in dust and filth. Sofa in lounge room was awful. Sit on it, sorry I mean IN IT!! And you can't get out. The seat has all collapsed.
M. Y.
Magnificent location on a wonderful marina. Dolphins everywhere! Very large comfortable rooms with views. Award-winning restaurant. Check out the sunsets.
M. F.
The refurbishment is excellent, and overall, possibly the best small resort on the East Coast. Overall a great place, our 5th time there. As always improvements can be made. The wait staff are ypong and could be improved with a few more experienced crew. Needs a dedicated Kayak/ SUP launch area. The Hampton’s look is awesome, rooms are awesome.
T. F.
Good value for money, service excellent, location superb, stayed in Captains Suite.
lost one star due to poor maintenance of gardens and surrounds. Have rebooked for September. If you want a great venue to just chill out & enjoy great food, accomodation and view The Anchorage should be consided for your next stay.
r. e.
Amazing place for any get away needs, excellent service, rooms are roomy and very comfortable and most rooms have an incredible view!.
Breakfast of a morning vast variety of different foods for all consumers and waiter service is above and beyond by the great rodney and food is fresh and delicious.
E. P.
It's prime location along the water's edge leaves you speechless at the marvelous views when waking up in the morning. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was exceptional and the presence of a Chef to make your OWN omlette is delightful. The rooms are quite modern and are fitted with the latest TV's as well as safes. The general crowd here are also humble and the various activities just near Anchorage itself such as biking, kayaking etc, make staying here an enjoyable experience. Definitely will visit again !
M. G.
My wife and I had the best weekend getaway here and it was wonderful. Immaculate rooms, fantastic and attentive staff, great food (Try the coconut chicken salad by the pool) and georgeous location. Abdallah from front of house was incredibly helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We will be back!
M. C.
We stayed the night, after a wedding reception at the resort. Location, attractions, rooms & amenities were excellent. Reception and staff were welcoming, friendly & professional.
c. r.
Wow!! Breathtaking views and attention to detail. Great location and great value for money. Service is very easy going for such a classy hotel. Looking forward to returning very soon.
J. C.
We were given a voucher by our family for our 50th Wedding Anniversary. We were delighted with the Resort, food and courteous dining staff.
The only disappointment was the attitude of one of the male staff at the reception desk, when we answered a phone call at 10.15am to request us to vacate the room. We were under the misapprehension that check-out was 11.00am. We thought the way this was handled was rather rude. Fortunately we were ready to leave when we received the call. A little bit of PR wouldn't have gone astray. We have stayed at many resorts , here and overseas and have never encountered this before.
T. M.
Our experience in the restaurant exceeded our expectations. I found the entire hotel to be very clean. The staff at this hotel are really helpful and very polite and respectful. The location was perfect for what we were looking for. Nice little pool area and a stroll down little beach.
L. P.
Great location. Air con was too cold on arrival. Great room interior. Pool area was very relaxing. Breakfast buffet amazing!! Disapointing made coffees were not included.
C. K.
Won’t ever stay anywhere else ever ever again when in Port Stephens. This place is a real 5 star haven with service that matches. You can’t hear a pin drop, the boats creak occasionally against the marina bays - you’ll just have to put up with that! No young ones serving (no offence, don’t want Maccas staff) only mature aged, amazing service. Best on ground - Rhiannon, Angela and Shelley!
T. K.
Beautiful location nestled around the marina/harbor. Stayed in an anchorage room with nice views. Staff were friendly and attentive. Restaurant was good,n though would recommend booking as they were turning people away.
L.
In short the room was nice and breakfast was good, our dinner was also nice except we didnt get the correct pizza, however the sour point of our stay was THE VILLA where we stayed had NO PRIVACY whatsoever as they claim on their website, we couldnt use ANY of the outside amenities as all the other rooms look into your so call called private courtyard and for the premium price we paid you would expect a little privacy, we had four construction workers pretty much looking into where the spa was all day and we couldnt even get to use it. THERE IS NOTHING PRIVATE ABOUT THIS ROOM !!!!. Finally we requested a midday check in and had to wait a couple of hours until the room was ready which was frustrating considering we drove up from sydney and to add insult to injury we asked for a 30 min late check out and they wouldnt even give this to us because wait for it.... They had somebody checking in at midday....the nerve of these people....for $1500 per night you would expect better service..... My recommendation... go to Armana Hotel just around the corner
T. M.
We were in a very fine location. Service excellent from check in to check out. These rooms without doubt will be the best hotel room we are ever likely to stay in. We have been staying here for years & are most impressed by the changes implemented in the last year.
M. F.
We went to The Anchorage for a girl`s afternoon out. We had the most amazing high tea. The setting was very pretty and we were served so much food we packed some for later :). We enjoyed a glass of sparkling wine, an abundance of food and pots of specialty tea. All seven of us can highly recommend an afternoon at The Anchorage.
G. B.
Very relaxing, strawberry Gin around the pool was a lovely way to spend the afternoon, meals were nice.
V. B.
The location is superb and the restaurant "Flying Herring" is outstanding. It compares with meals I had at Aria in Sydney. A little gem!! On the other hand, the "Galley Kitchen" is very average and expensive for the food you get. The view is magnificent and the waiting staff is very friendly.
z. Z.
The restaurant staff totally mixed up our eating experience by mixing us up with another couple near us. Giving us the dessert menu when we had just ordered our mains, and that other couple were waiting for the dessert menu, complete chaos.
D. C.
Top notch. Restaurant has fine dining. Accommodation is luxurious. Well staffed. Definitely the top place to stay in Port Stephens.
M. T.
Cannot fault this place. Been here a few times now and just cannot fault it. Rooms are very clean, classy and comfy, the food is perfect and the staff are out of this world helpful.
J. M.
.....Ok, so, after you have been to Tilba, it's time to visit "The Anchorage" at Port Stephens for a very Romantic get away..........
Actually, a girls or boys weekend would be great there too!.
Do you appreciate good service? - of course you do - I can not fault the service at The Anchorage - every single staff member was amazingly friendly and helpful.
The rooms are beautiful - Hampton's style - the beds are super comfortable.
We stayed in a Loft Apartment and it was incredibly spacious - well worth a few extra $$ to spread out.
The bath tub was massive and the toiletries, well, yes, I took them home, I have to find out where to get more - my husband used them first and I was weak in the knees when he got out of the bath!!.......
Breakfast in the Restaurant - Merritt's - exactly what you are hoping for........the works!! and plenty of it.... no need to stare down the man in front of you as he scoops up the last of the bacon!! Someone will run out and fill it up instantly!.....
All rooms/apartments sit on the waterfront, you will always get a stunning water view which is a huge bonus.
Sip a cup of tea or glass of Champagne on your private balcony overlooking the water - there really is nowhere like it........
We will definitely be back xxxx
a. y.
Breathtakingly beautiful. Must go for holiday destinations. Fishing, whale watching, cafe, bar ,splash park everything us there.
C. A.
Wow, wow, wow! Fabulous! The staff were simply amazing! We were treated like V.I.P's, the gentleman in the Hemmingway bar was great and made us feel special! The waiter and waitress were fantastic Jye and Tayla, were amazing! They went out of their way to present my girlfriend a beautiful birthday platter, which was soo unexpected, what a beautiful thought! And also brought us fresh bread to our table, which apparently wasnt on the menu, thankyou Jye! Highly recommend the Anchorage to my friends and family, we both loved the whole experience at the Anchorage!! 🙂😎🤗😏
S. I.
To Ali & the Anchorage team ,
Just wanted to thank you Ali and your team for the exceptional service My wife & I received during our visit.
We have had the pleasure of staying at the anchorage on several occasions and each time the team delivered over & beyond our expectations.
The service is always prompt , professional & genuine. Room presentation & staff mannerism was impeccable!
Thank you for surprising us with the cheese platter & champagne upon our arrival.
Look forward to our next stay!
Once again Thank you & God bless.
Evette & Steve

Great place.. Lovely harbours and great options for activities.. Also nice and quiet around this time of year which is a bonus
J. g.
I love this place so much. The best accommodation in Port Stephens and getting better. We visit every 2 years & have noticed recent improvements. Hard to imagine a great place getting better. I will always recommend this place
A. J.
Beautiful location. Well maintained. Perfect for a wedding. Great pool facilities and friendly staff.
J. R.
Beautiful location and the low-rise, comfortable and well appointed accommodation matches. Good restaurants, the breakfast is excellent, and bars. Two good pools and spa services. A terrific place to relax.
D. L.
Went to Spa Lucca at Anchorage for a couples massage. The service was fantastic, the staff were professional and welcoming, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Fantastic value for money, worth every cent! We will definitely be coming back next time we are in Port Stephens!!
S. P.
Amazing place. Quality all the way. The best breakfast ever. And the day spa is world class
A. O.
The sunset cruise was fabulous! Very romantic! The view was breath taking and the owners of the sail boat were very welcoming . Would high recommend it!
D. V.
Great views, great rooms, clean and well kept. Staff are friendly and food is good. Came here for a work function, so cannot comment about price.
A. D.
We stayed here for 4 nights with our 1 year old and 3 year old sons, The location is just amazing for families with an beach and Park just an short walk from your room, The service from Robbie/Rodney & Gabriella was outstanding always going out of there way to accomodate our family needs at the breakfast buffet, Room service was extremely efficient and quick! My husband and I had the couples massage at Spa Lucca which was an amazing experience! The recommended Baby sitter Karen was great also (First time ever we have used an baby sitters service so we were unsure at first but she was fantastic!) the adults pool is an great addition since the last time we stayed here, only disadvantage I would say is if you are staying here with young children and need to warm an milk bottle up only option was to boil the kettle and fill an ice bucket to heat up, There is no microwave or kitchen sink in the rooms in saying this only an small disadvantage in comparison to all the positives staying here, Would definitely recommend 🙂
T. M.
Ideal location to walk or hire a boat for game fishing. The staff are friendly & helpful. The 1st lady appeared embarrased by that and offered us a place to store our luggage and assured us that all facilities would be available to us after checking out if we couldn't depart immediately.
L.
Absolutely beautiful accommodation, great outlook looking straight up the bay. The Anchorage is in a great position. Food was awesome. But the food and alcohol were a bit pricey.
L.
The best hotel in Port Stephens. Restaurant staff at breakfast are kind and present the best service I've experienced. Angela is great! Rooms are of the best I've seen in hotels.
7.
Gorgeous loft getaway highly recommended...room service food is delicious too ... we will be back
J.
Lovely atmosphere with friendly staff
Immaculate housekeeping
Sadly unable to get into restaurant first night as private function (pitty not let know this during early part of day).....we were happy to have a more casual dinner in Hemingway's bar....great bar staff member had also looked after a group of us in anoon for drinks....sadly the pizza was absolutely pathetic.....what on earth is the kitchen staff doing ....we were one of several people disappointed and didn't bother finishing eating nor enjoy what was served after an extensive wait ...I probably least enjoyed the attached burnt baking paper in my pizza crunching in my mouth....pick up your game and we will happily eat here.
Debating if we will bother dining in restaurant tonight as planned as I presume same cooking staff...we will see.
Good views....come on match it with your dining.
A. O.
The sunset cruise was fabulous! Very romantic! The view was breath taking and the owners of the sail boat were very welcoming . Would high recommend it!
T. E.
Stayed for two nights over the long weekend. clean rooms and great service so close to Nelson Bay. Another patron or visitor parked in our spot, but it was a busy weekend, so not really too surprised.
E.
Lovely and relaxing place to stay with fantastic views, the food is amazing and the service impeccable! The best place to stay in Port Stephen’s
P. L.
Hidden away in a glorious location on the water , The Anchorage is a 5 star resort. The service is first class, the food is magnificent , located right on the marina.
J. g.
I love this place so much. The best accommodation in Port Stephens and getting better. We visit every 2 years & have noticed recent improvements. Hard to imagine a great place getting better. I will always recommend this place
m. h.
Well this place is divine it’s tucked away on the corner of Corlette and it’s one of Nelsons Bay will best kept secrets when you first arrive and you walk into the lobby the words are wow how nice is this when you look out over the water The views are spectacular I would highly recommend this place When you stay at the Anchorage you feel like a millionaire and you’re treated like one as well it doesn’t matter if you’re wearing shorts and T-shirt or a full suit the staff treat you the same and you will really enjoy your stay from MWH
L. G.
Beautiful getaway accommodation and services. Staff were amazing and helpful
R. P.
The location is great, with fantastic views over the marina and bay, with well appointed rooms and friendly service. Some more vegetarian meal options would be good though.
J. H.
Went here for a friend's wedding, it looked great the food was great, Easy 10/10
M. b.
What a great place to relax and dine at anytime of the year... Unfortunately, we felt the lack of privacy by staying in the room as no curtain blinds have been installed for the windows, and they can’t reduce the lights coming from outside when sleeping!
R. R.
Attended a wedding / reception recently. Great facilities and staff. Definitely a 5 star resort. Paying a premium for views is acceptable however bar overpriced.
A. L.
Clean and tidy room, Great spa experience and awesome service at breakfast.
Q. Q.
Friendly stuff, nice laid out and view. However in room we stayed in, there were some sort of machine noise and rattles at night, keep turn on and off, lost a lot of sleep.
B. K.
First time visit, wonderful place and a great time. Have booked for a longer stay in January.
M. L.
Beautiful hotel with beautiful views. Rooms were nice, though too pricey in my opinion. Buffet had a good selection.
A. J.
The pick of Nelson. No better surrounds, facilities or customer service. The food is amazing and the accommodation is modern and charming. Highly recommended.
E. T.
Beautiful venue. Friendly service, delicious menu, suites are lovely and stunning views.
Attended a few weddings and leisurely weekends.
A. w.
Great spot,
Beautiful interiors,
food great!
Service however was very average (except for Angela who should be promoted to manager immediately!!)
Get the basics right guys and you will nail it!!
J. G.
What a gorgeous resort in a beautiful location! Very kid friendly and lovely accomodation with beautiful touches of luxury
P. O.
I'm staying in the wheelchair accessible room and although it meets most the criteria they insist in putting the clothes hangers and hooks in very high positions on the backs of the door. On the whole I think that this is a nice place it is a shame though that they are still doing some construction works
O. O.
A bit expensive. You will need to book early if you want to get a seat in their restaurant. Very comfortable rooms good breakfast. Go for packages as these offer the best value.
R. H.
Amazing 2 night stay here, the staff are exceptionally friendly and the food is top shelf.
l. m.

Place is new and looks like ur in the Bahamas, but seems a bit stiff. There was also some hiccups with our booking and a small cockroach on my bed which ruined the experience somewhat.
