We have stayed at the Hydro since the renovations a few years ago and the rooms are just first class. We don't think the current decor fits with the character of the building though.
On our regular visits to the Blue Mountains we usually stop by the Hydro for the view and the high tea. Both are exceptional.
Combined with very friendly and helpful staff the service is just first class. Nothing is too much trouble.
We will continue to stop by whenever we are in the vicinity.

Beautiful location for high tea. Price is reasonable. Service was great. Food and tea was tasty and made with good quality ingredients. My experience was very pleasant, relaxing and the scenery is just phenomenal.

A lovely Art Deco hotel with a beautiful ambience. I gave an extra star for James in reception as he was amazingly insightful about the facilities & surrounding tourist attractions. A very expensive stay for the quality of the room & the whole hotel requires a lot of refurbishment.

The decor , service and views were excellent. It is such a beautiful building We were a group of four ladies for a high tea. Generally enjoyed the day.The food was well presented and we enjoyed eating it.The only negatives were I was disappointed in the china.I was expecting fine bone china and although we ordered Gluten free one lady was immediately very unwell. We may have been served gluten free but there may have been some cross contamination.

Great place to stay. Fairly expensive but it is boutique and with Interesting decor and history quite different and novel compared to run of the mill motels. The restaurant is top notch great food prepared perfectly and with excellent wait staff. Nice rooms, ours was small but had a great view of the valley and there are excellent views from the restaurant and bars. 2nd photo shows Belgravia wing where our room was on the opposite side and 3rd photo shows view from the room.

Easily one of the best high teas. LOVE the wintergarden high tea. It is a selection of petite sandwiches, homemade pastries, scones, cream, jam and two rounds of your choice of tea or coffee. We had the earl grey and English breakfast, both very fragrant.
The scones were soft, warm and fluffy. Perfect whipped cream and strawberry jam. The sandwiches were fresh and had great flavours, especially the amazing curry and egg. The roast beef wrap was delicious. The charcoal pork mini slider was on the dry side, but still very tasty.
The petite cakes were amazing. Sweetness was subtle just the way I like it. It was our anniversary and we were given an extra small dessert to share!
Incredible views of the mountains. Service was very professional and friendly. Highly recommended.

Boutique, Historic Hotel that has been refurbished since 2015. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Great place to get away for a weekend, with a fantastic restaurant for dinner.
It is like you are stepping back in time when Hotels where a destination in themselves.

Relaxing. Good atmosphere. Old world charms with interesting history. Magnificent views over the Megalong Valley. Great coffee. Very comfortable rooms. It's over priced however.
L. R.
Lovely high tea, we had the Eastern just delicious.
Friendly staff, breathtaking views will revisit.
However, if you are mobility challenged this is an historic building without lifts.
C. S.
You go to the hydro for the experience. You pay for the experience not for the size of the rooms.
Didn't eat there so have no personal opinion on the food.
The views and the atmosphere is what puts this place on your bucket list as a place to stay in the Blue Mountains

Very pleasant food, however the overall experience was not as elegant as I expected. Service was good once seated but I believe queing up prior to entering needs to b improved. Also tables too close, people needed to get up to let people out & waiters could not serve in an elegant manner. Enjoyed but lots of room for improvement
G. W.
My wife loved it. They had gluten free food and a great atmosphere.
Not my sort of place but for people who like high tea, it's great.

Some technical details missing for food, dessert felt like it was mass plated, cremeaux was warm, tuilles were soft and fruit leather was terrible. The lamb on a whole was wildly underseasoned and more very rare than medium. Scallops for enteee were bang on. Sidecar as an off menu cocktail was terrible.... I dont know how you stuff up lemon juice, grand marnier and brandy. At times FOH felt like they were newbies from the BM hotel school. The lady w the house made bread was gorgeous and super friendly and the views were great.

Great service. Great food. Great value. It is a really nice place to take someone for a special occasion, especially if they are from out of town. Recommended!

Had our anniversary lunch in the wintergrardens and was absolutely spoilt, the high tea was delicious, the staff were all friendly and really lovely, they even wrote happy anniversary on our plate. We also took the tour with James while we were there and it was amazing to hear all the stories and history about the place, he was very informative and a great tour guide.

Due to the popularity of the High Tea Offerings this venue might recieve good reviews on a regular basis, however it was not our Experience. We believe the possible pre-prepared food which we found dry and not fresh at all attributed to the franchised style service given. On the plus side a great view looking over the Blue Mountains. Perhaps try and be a little more real and maybe stop pandering to the tourist demographic.

Staff members were spectacular in their helpfulness and service, hence the need to shout out to the highly exceptional team at HM (Pear, James, and Adam). There were others, but we couldn't remember everyone's names (from the breakfast team to cleaning services).
Pear went above and beyond in her kindess in helping my daughter and I. Pear made our final night exceptionally enjoyable and on a high note. Pear made a brilliant impression on my daughter with her kindness.
James was an absolute delight and was always very welcoming.
Adam made our Christmas day extremely memorable as his kindess and attention to detail in helping us was exceptional.
Thank you HM for your highly exceptional team of staff who greatly enabled us to have such an enjoyable time.

Although we love the place, staying there in May, and visiting separately for their High Tea, their communications are TERRIBLE. Our son and his new fiancee stayed there last weekend and we called to order a bottle of champagne to be delivered to their room. No-one answers the phone, paperwork to pay by credit card, could not choose the specific champagne (which was the most expensive) even though it was on their website, and ultimately it never got to their room- it was delivered to their dining table. Very disappointing and frustrating.

had the high tea and it was fabulous. excellent service great staff. beautiful location and easy to access via rail3

The Hydro Majestic Hotel is a heritage listed site which can be found in Medlow Bath, not far from Katoomba. It’s also conveniently opposite the train station. The hotel has sweeping views of the stunning Megalong Valley. The view can be enjoyed from the dining room, lounge bar and all valley view rooms.
The site was purchased by Mark Foy in 1902, believing the land had mineral springs. The section known as the Belgravia hotel was a health retreat. But the springs had dried up so Mr Foy rebranded it as a luxury hotel.
Over time the hotel became neglected and was refurbished in the 1990s and other refurbishments since. The Casino building is used for the lounge and lobby, the Belgravia is the accommodation wing and there is a restaurant called the Wintergarden. The Pavilion currently is a shop and cafe space.
The architecture and style is Art Deco, plenty of black and wine tones, chandeliers and velveteen chairs.
The check in process was a little slow, with mostly trainees on our day of check in. Despite emailing ahead of our stay about a ground floor room, we were on the upper floor, which was challenging with a baby and pram. However they did help us with our bags.
Our room was a valley view room, and a spectacular view. The room itself is very small, enough room for the bed and a small table. We managed to fit our porta cot in too. The room has a small bathroom tv, tea and coffee making facilities, fridge, iron and hairdryer.
We had a drink in the lounge bar, but the menu is very short. It could do with a better range of cocktails and food (maybe some of the dumplings found in the high tea menu).
The wintergarden is their restaurant which serves a fine dining lunch and dinner service of two or three courses. We had a high tea as part of our luxury escape package. This room has an elegant setting and calm ambience with incredible views of the valley.
The premium high tea is served to your table on a three-tiered stand and consists of petit finger sandwiches, sweets and freshly baked scones. It is accompanied by freshly brewed speciality tea. We pay an extra $22 for a glass of champagne to have with our high tea.
There’s also an eastern version of the high tea which we also try at an upgrade cost of $5. This came with a selection of steamed eastern dumplings, crab claw, prawn and vegetarian rice paper roll, bao with pork belly and a selection of eastern and western desserts and your choice of tea or coffee.
Overall the hotel is nice, with great scenery. Staff are friendly and try their best. We feel that there could be some aesthetic improvements with some further refurbishments. There’s not a lot to do at the hotel itself so we feel that a day spa would be a welcome addition. It would be worth a trip here for a relaxing getaway and certainly worth a visit for the high tea alone.

Afternoon tea was had, $6.00 a pot that had around 3 cups. Very good value and a beautiful setting (the hotel reception/bar) with a fantastic view out of the large windows.
H. M.
High Tea was great, food was delicious, very friendly staff and fantastic views. would high recommend it. Will be back again
B. B.
Beautifully renovated. Very friendly staff. Great views 👏 👌 👍

Wonderful Place. The food last night was Beautiful. We'll Definitely be coming back here again. 100%
R. J.
Had wonderful high tea with two friends. Service was attentive and food was amazing and fresh (being British I have plenty to compare to!). Had one friend who was gluten free and vegan and they said it was so good and there was no hassle in ordering (requested prior to day). As for the view, well, it speaks for itself. Worth a trip.
T. J.
The view is absolutely amazing. Beautiful and foggy down in the valley in the morning and beautiful at sunset too.
The Wintergarden restaurant is great. Delicious and well cooked food. Great buffet breakfast and friendly, professional service.
Only downside was thin walls in our room. We could hear talking from the couple in the room beside us. They were only talking at a normal level so it wasn't too annoying, until they got a bit more excited and we could hear them having sex. (Not just moaning, but slaps and heavy breathing too), 7am and 10pm, didn't matter to them. The walls are obviously very thin..
C. M.
Went for high tea with my sister in law. Absolutely amazing in every way possible! What an experience. The staff, the food, the decor, the architecture, it is just all amazing. Would definitely recommend. Would love to make a dinner booking one day too.
Can't wait to spend a night there one day!

Had the loveliest high tea at the Hydro Majestic, on the way to our mini honeymoon. The building itself is quite remarkable, the view is sensational and the food was so delicious. Hands down, the best high tea I've had, and I've had a few.
E. N.
We had the best time. Just perfect with sweet and savoury options. The food not only looked amazing, it also tasted amazing! You can see how much time and details they've put into created the different options on the plates!
Very nice staff and of cause the view it's hard to fault! Will definitely be back!!
Thank you The Hydro team! It was really Majestic :)
D. R.
We had a awesome night! The room was clean & bed very comfy. It was a valentines surprise for my girlfriend & the flowers were beautiful, chocolate comedy strawberries juicy & delicious, wine very nice Food at the restaurant was delicious & the staff were amazing! Beautiful & perfect night. Great atmosphere too. Thanks
G. S.
No over words but outstanding. Great Ambience and Superb location . From the moment we arrived at the WinterGarden restaurant for Hi- tea the staff were quick and very friendly as they provided us with the window seat . The staff specifically Tushar he went out of his way to explain about each and every dish served but also explained about the history of the hotel which was very Unique . In a very short span it felt like we made the best choice as it was worth the money spent . The food was amazing and bit too much for us in the end. Highly recommend the WinterGarden restaurant Hi tea , 10/10 for everything.
R. J.
Stayed here for the Ultra Trail Run we took part in. Such a lovely part of the world. Fabulous old hotel, comfy beds & stunning views. We had dinner at the Wintergarden restaurant and the food was stunning. Better than I anticipated. I'd love to come back!
T.
The sitting areas were quiet and comfortable. No noisy children around which made it peaceful. Beautifully appointed and decorated. Tranquil. I loved how they maintained the heritage of the hotel. The old building did mean a few creaky floorboards and you could hear plumbing but it did not really detract from our stay.
The high tea in the winter garden room was superb and a must if staying there.
Only complaint was that it was missing a swimming pool and spa on campus. Outdoor facilities are a bit limited.
No direct access to walks from the property.
No reasonably priced dinner options
S. R.
High tea has many options including gluten free and kids high tea and great views to match. You can walk through the hotel which reminds me a little of “the shining” but with no creepiness. It also has a nice gift shop! Worth trying
G. B.
Fabulous old world charm. The high tea was excellent. Great view , great staff.
D. M.
We were a party of 7 for high tea on Saturday the view was amazing BUT the service was lacking. I was contacted 8 days before our high tea date and advised that we would need to bring forward our booking by half an hour due to a wedding in the restaurant. I can’t understand why we were not notified of this at time of booking. When we arrived we were seated 10minutes late after being told not to arrive late for our booking. Before we had finished our high tea the waiter started to clear plates away by leaning over the guests and staff started to move furniture in preparation for the wedding. Staff then started to set up a dance floor which unfortunately took away from the occasion. Overall a very disappointing occasion and would not recommend this venue

We stayed at the property. High tea was great. Dinner was superb. Room was very nice. The bar area appears to be run by another hotel. Breakfast was average. Have had better in cheap chain hotels. Small selection and just a cheap feel. Full buffet breakfast was $35 at the door, or $29 if you prepay and provide card details. Why? Just makes it seem petty. Full buffet includes 1 coffee. You are charged for the second?? Petty. You also can’t put the pre-pay on your hotel bill, you have to give card details up front. Petty. The bar area has limited offerings and no cocktails. They won’t even bring you a cocktail from the dining room. In a hotel with $400+ rooms, it’s just crazy. I’ve stayed here before and the gorgeous old dining room is now off limits to guests for dinner. That’s only for functions. Sad. Insert cut and paste, disinterested hotel reply here...

Gorgeously renovated. Good food beautiful views and great atmosphere
L. S.
Wonderful stay in 'Yesteryear'....lovely staff and facilities..a gorgeous restoration. Just be prepared for the steps (no lifts due to heritage listing..not a problem if reasonably fit). Recommended for those who appreciate fine dining and reliving 'history.

Came here for High Tea for our anniversary and had a great experience! Lovely staff went out of their way to give me special savoury options (me being pregnant) and wrote us a sweet happy anniversary message on one of the plates. Great food and atmosphere, I recommend the jasmine & vanilla blossom tea!

Stunning !
We were here for high tea ! (Was more like a small lunch for me)
Our attended/waiter was kind, polite and service is always with a smile. Big shout out to Lakshay.
But the highlight of course we're the views. Absolutely marvelous. Will definitely visit again.

Beautiful historic hotel.great public seating areas with very comfortable chairs, ambiance and spectacular views . Nice buffet breakfast, and high tea. Warning though, this hotel has no lifts. Its a pain if you are on the 2nd floor.47 steps up and down 4 times a day.Worse with luggage. Bathrooms in need of a reno.

I had driven past this luxury hotel from when I was a child visiting bkackheath yearly with my family, to stay there was a bucket list for me, the interior was as expected and renovated well in the art decor period the room with a valley view was lovely. The disappointment was the 3 flights of stairs with our luggage, when you take in the price of our 2 day stay being over $800 It would have been expected that a staff person could have taken the bags up to the room for us , especially when the majority of people who stay at the hydro are in their 50s plus. The evening diner was delightful and very tasteful, the service by the staff in the restaurant was very good, an improvement on the lounge area which was a bit hit and miss, no clearing of glasses or waiter service when there was 3 behind the reception/bar area. The prices of the drinks were a bit over the top, and for the second night for tea there was no other choice but the restaurant menu again.
C. W.
Old historic hotel at Medlow Bath overlooking the national Park.
For those looking for nostalgia this fits the bill but too dated for me to recommend.
High Tea is worthwhile though and comes with many delights..available from $55.
P. L.
Went to Hydro Majestic to try out their famous high tea! I opted for the Eastern high tea and definitely was not disappointed. Doesn’t look like that much food but by the time I was done I was so full! Great that they also do proper coffees (proper ones not the usual filtered coffee) / chai lattes if you prefer it to tea. We went on a really foggy day so unfortunately did not get much of a view. Didn’t take away from the experience though!
N. W.
Amazing food. I was not expecting much when I dine in at a hotel restaurant, but the food is way higher than my expectation. Each dish was so thoughtfully prepared and nicely presented, especially the dessert. We had an amazing time dining there for my hubby’s birthday. Highly recommend!
L. T.
Fantastic views, super interesting buildings and history, delicious high tea and breakfast, great customer service!! Room was comfortable, clean and had great ambiance. We will definitely stay again!
H. S.
Enjoyed a really tasty High Tea here on a perfect afternoon. The views from the beautifully renovated dining room are awesome. Great service makes thus a must do.
D. L.
Two styles! High tea ^^ me and my partner were here before, just pass this hotel didn’t check in! Even that we still walked around in this beautiful hotel! High teas r good but the mountains beside us beyond that flavor! Highly recommended!
T. W. A.
Was here for my friends intimate 10 guests covid wedding.
Beautiful grounds and salons, the views from the restaurant are stunning and the service prompt and friendly. The vegan main was a bit of a let down if you are not into seaweed as it just tasted like seaweed. Hope next time they include some other vegan option but other than that, amazing place!
C. M.
I attended Brigitte Grant's book launch at the Hydro and I would just like to say how much I enjoyed it.
The food was yummy, the staff very friendly and helpful.
I highly recommend The Hydro for any function.
P. K.
Had a very enjoyable 3 night stay here, breakfast excellent had High Tea and the history tour. Rooms are small but clean and the view is to die for. Get a room with a view.
A. K.
I've visited here so many times passing thru over the years; today enjoyed a drink in the foyer of the beautifully renovated hotel. It's so completely different from the previous times I've dropped in and we were lucky to watch the sunset from a small balcony near the Salon Du The.

From the time we arrived at the Hydro Majestic we were looked after
Our room was spotless, roomy with a beautiful bathroom. The view of the mountain from our window was spectacular.
Breakfast and high tea were included in the price.
I was impressed with the COVID safe policy
The cleaning staff were fabulous checking to make sure we had everything we needed
Ellen, Anthony, Vivo and the catering team were fabulous nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious
We can’t wait to return

Came to hydro majestic hotel for the first time with family and kids. It was a very very Luxurious stay, this hotel is full of history and heritage. The staff was very polite and caring. High tea is highly recommended. The views from the hotel especially the rooms is fabulous. The manager of the hotel Robert is a very helpful and hospitable . Big thumbs up for Louies and Frencine. They were very helpful and caring. We will surely be back again.

This place was phenomenal. We only stayed one night and wished we had more time. The room was small but had everything we needed including stunning views over Megalong Valley and a big bath for a nice soak. The bar and restaurant was also wonderful - the food and service were real standouts.
E. P.
The high tea is amazing. Great views. Excellent service
B. T.
It's a good looking spot with some amazing views. With that in mind, you would think the meals would be quality especially given its price tag. While I enjoyed my scallop entree and the theatrics to start, I was disappointed when it had a sandy bite towards the end. It was definitely not done intentionally. The beef main was great and filling. The corn like dessert was a miss and had a strange lavender infused granita on the side which just didn't work to bring the dish together. Not quite sure I will be back again for dinner.
S. F.
This was our first time at Hydro Majestics enjoying our high tea over at the Wintergarden Restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed the grand entry, view from our table and atmosphere. We had a child who had a number of allergies and it was well accommodated.
Why did I give it 3 stars then?
- we were ordering a side of scones and the waiter said they were $20 each. The scones were ok but definitely not worth the $20
- in our high tea selection it noted hot drinks for the children's high tea. At the time of ordering we asked if we could swap this and it wasn't a problem.
- my husband ordered an eastern style high tea and ordered a cider, but again as it wasn't made clear to us we assumed we were able to replace the coffee with the cider.
Later when we paid the bill I realised that I was charged 3 drinks. Kids were charged the juices. I asked the waiter at the pay station and he said it was on the menu. I didn't bother challenging it as I didn't want to make a scene and it was Valentine's day. Note our bill was nearly $300, we would have been happy to pay but I think the wait staff should have mentioned something. So essentially we missed out on 3 hot drinks!
J. C.
Excellent views with immaculate service for the high tea. Recommend that you come during the day to enjoy the views during the 90mins high tea. There are several options available for high tea starting from $55 and up (weekday, higher on weekend and public holidays). I do recommend the wintergarden and eastern.
M. L.
We only came for a degustation dinner, so can't comment on the rooms or other amenities.
I can attest to the superb quality of the food and the beautiful views. The Hydro's restaurant is perfect for a romantic dinner or other special celebration - the vibe is quite lively. I'm sure we'll be back to pay a visit next time we're in the area.
K.
Had the $55 high tea. Was delicious and so pretty. Definitely a place to come enjoy the magical view and relax in their beautiful dining room.
E. M.
Great views, great food and drinks. The high tea is worth it
p. f.
This place is an institution up in the mountains! It is definitely worth a visit for whatever you want to do. Food and drinks options are plenty across the whole complex. There's a cafe, a few restaurants and also the chance to do the high tea - which is absolutely awesome! All of these come with a view and the same high quality service, level of attention and superb quality of food.
We went for the high tea which is a great experience (it's also expensive but hey, you're paying for an experience).
The complex itself is massive so it all depends on what you're in for and what you want out of it. Do your research, make a booking and enjoy the time you spent at this place. In my view, it's absolutely worth it.
Parking is free btw and the place is quite easy to find
.. It's massive!

We bought a luxury escapes special and we were treated like royalty. Everyone was so friendly, helpful and the tour guide who hosted the history tour was the best!.
I know this hotel has had some troubles lately but i can honestly say that this stay was my ALL time favourite Hotel stay. They handled the covid issues (breakfast being served by staff) very well and, I have to say, the patrons totally understood just why they had to do this and were very understanding. Not a frown on anyone.
Thank you Hydro..... Amazing history. Look it up for yourself and you'll enjoy your stay just that much more.
A. K.
Fabulous View. The High Tea was devine, the staff couldn't do enough for us. Complimentary Happy Birthday cake for my Daughter. The whole family be back again soon, Grandchildren can't wait.
History Tour was a must do. Thank you
M. F.
An absolutely fantastic place, its history and layout with breath taking views
Had an unforgetable short stay, staff are friendly and most helpful eg extended check out time at no extra cost. Food is delicious and beautifully presented
Highly recommended as a place to relax and enjoy, with other interesting places to go in the vicinity
E. R.
Very overpriced for what you get, the room was on the smaller size, had no views and was very dusty. The bar area had no atmosphere, no music and very average selection of drinks. ( we had to take the wine back as the glasses were smothered in lipstick! ) also the tables down there were layered in dust. And I couldn’t quite believe we got charged an extra $11 for coffee at breakfast after already paying $55. The staff definitely could of been more attentive.
A. B.
What this place is missing is foot traffic. I can see how special this place can be. Sadly with the pandemic and mid week, there are very few people. We are though delighted to see a sizeable patronage at the high tea but we were not delighted by the service. A high tea set of $60 and each of us ordered a glass of champagne for $39 you'd think we would be left alone to enjoy the view and have a slow burn kind of afternoon. No. We were asked to pay the bill 4 times by three different staff and reason being they have to close to set up for evening service. A bit lame.
Z. P.
Pretty to visit and look at wandering through, disappointing to stay at. Dining options can be very hit and miss as well as being overpriced. Beautiful views however so well worth coming for a visit and having a bite and a refreshing beverage.
K. C.
We went for High Tea at the Wintergarden are the view and atmosphere was beautiful.
Book in advance (weeks) and say it's for a special occasions If you'd like to get a window seat.
I gave a 4/5 as the Gluten Free set was a little dry but Gluten Free is always a bit tricky.
Overall great experience and service from staff!

Enjoyed a really beautiful High Tea celebrating our 40th Wedding Anniversary today. We stayed at the Hydro for our honeymoon. The service & food was exceptional & the view over the Valley was fantastic. Thanks for a lovely experience.
Cath & Blue Hines.
S. T.
We booked our high tea for my aunties 40th birthday. The customer service was excellent as was the food.
We all sat on the window and enjoyed spectacular views over the Blue Mountains.
The decor is wonderful throughout and the gift shop is very reasonably priced.
G. T.
Great experience. Incredible views. Beautifully decorated and maintained. Our room was tiny which did affect our comfort but it was clean and tidy.
M. H.
Went for high tea with the Mrs, great place top food and location
N. R.
Excellent Afternoon High Tea,beautiful clear weather to enjoy the stunning scenic views of the Blue Mountains and a very informative hour's tour of the Hotel, learning of its past. Would go again.
A. L.
We stayed here for two nights in one of the Executive suites.
The location and heritage vibe of the hotel were both fantastic. The hotel has completely unimpeded views of the Megalong valley and bush surroundings which allow one to just relax and unwind on a slow afternoon.
The room was sizeable with attractive and appropriate furnishings, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom sported a wonderful mix of heritage design and modern luxury which we partook in repeatedly.
Unfortunately, the room was a bit dusty. The balcony doors were sealed shut and there was a noticeable amount of dust in the air as well as across the sofas and pillows which caused some discomfort during the stay. Improving on this would aid in the comfort of future guests.
The Wintergarden restaurant was excellent with food and drink in line with its opulence.
The morning breakfast was somewhat debatable. Ongoing COVID restrictions meant that guests were forced to queue for a significant length of time before being served by staff at the buffet, and some English issues resulted in a degree of consternation. We opted to skip breakfast on subsequent mornings due to these issues.
Overall, the experience was very enjoyable. The location and feel of the hotel were top notch and served very nicely as a luxury base for exploration of various nearby Blue Mountains attractions. It was let down somewhat by the cleanliness of the room and the breakfast was nothing to write home about, but I could consider staying again at some point in the future.

From the moment of check-in (and even prior to that!) the staff were absolutely wonderful and extremely attentive. Our stay was fantastic and we really did forget about everything that was going on in the world. Spotless property, wonderful rooms with fantastic views and superb dining experiences at breakfast, lunch (the Boiler House) and high tea (thank you for seating us by the window :)). A special thanks to James, Daniel and Jim at reception who were so welcoming and hospitable. No request was too difficult for them. Also special thanks to the Maître D at the Boiler House and to Adrian at the Boiler House who had the best suggestions for lunch and the wonderful smiling faces of the staff at breakfast service, especially the Maître D and the wonderful Matilde. We will definitely be back soon!

Overall somewhat underwhelmed.
Beautiful historic building and lovely location, food in the Wintergarden restaurant was wonderful, but service and other aspects of the stay were pretty average.
Wedding couple; booked a Deluxe Valley View Suite for two nights, which was lovely, but for the rates they're charging we expected better service, particularly as the bride and groom!
Breakfast was average at best (would it kill you to make real pots of tea?)
Two glasses of wine offered free to celebrate our wedding (better than nothing but other hotels have given full bottles for much less!).
N. K.
I made the booking through their website but there was a glitch and they didn't have it on their system. Despite this they managed to get us a table almost immediately. The staff are all lovely. The sandwiches are obviously prepared fresh as the bread was cloud soft. The hotel itself is utterly gorgeous. Always have a great experience here.
G. C.
This is a wonderful experience for an old hotel that has been beautifully restored. It really throws you back to the 1920's with sumptuous dining rooms, exotic bars, fireplaces, halls, etc. We dressed up in vests, berets, coats, boots and the old feel it's magic. High Tea in the Wintergarden restaurants was great (See the photos). The staff were more friendly than I've experienced in a long time. It was so good to see these places open again after the lockdown. We saved a little on our room as we had a small room overlooking the carpark, but I know there are beautiful state rooms and suites overlooking the mountains and the valley. Will try one of these next time.

Beautiful place to stay. Nice big room with awesome views, Delicious meals, lovely friendly staff. The historic tour is a definite must!!
S. B.
This is a two or three star hotel in a five star building. Dining is limited to the expensive set meal in the dining room, they could not tell us if we were booked in as 1. their systems were down and 2. the receptionist could not talk! Looking at reviews he is a permanent fixture, he has my sympathies but the job of a receptionist is to communicate and the last thing you want in times of Covid is to have to lean in to hear a whisper. Covid precautions seem non-existent, no staff had masks, at breakfast the need to gather round in a tight corner to pass your order to unmasked staff who then got your (cold and basic) breakfast is a recipe for transmission. Boiled eggs came in a bowl - no egg cups? No room service at all. "Bar snacks" the only alternative food consists of a bag of nuts, a chocolate bar or a basic cheeze platter. Limited selection of drinks. Never saw anyone wiping down any surfaces, door handles etc. The renovation is superb and it may be worth it to sit in the "Cat's Gallery" but the rooms are tiny (this is a historical building). Make sure you get one with a (magnificent) view. The bathroom floor was dirty and the dirty window spoilt the view but we could not get room service in as the room was so small our stuff was everywhere. The dinner was OK, though for the price you might have expected something more special. This was the only place we got proper four star service. I don't think we will be back, I would recommend going for dinner or high tea to experience the place but not to stay. Bring your own mask!

We had the standard high tea here, and it was excellent. The quality and variety of food was wonderful and quite filling. The tea choices were also good, and everyone gets their own teapot.
The renovations and upgrades to the hotel are excellent and every area is beautifully appointed. The restoration work has been done with great care, and the views are incredible.
Pro tip: book ahead if you want a window seat for high tea, and dress up! The grandeur of the place really adds to your outing if you take the time to glam up.

Very Friendly Fast service
EXCELLENT food that melts in ur mouth

Very professional and friendly atmosphere. Visited Casino restaurant for High Tea. Sooo nice. We were casually asked what was our 'occasion'. One of the plates came with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate icing. A very beautiful and so unexpected gesture. And heartwarming. After our few days away we stopped at the Cafeteria and had a coffee and 'passionfruit cheescake' in a incredible memorabilia filled area. Absolutely perfect experience each time. We had been to the 'Boiler Room' on a previous trip. All the above restarted our 'romance' with the 'Hydro' after a 20 year absence. Will recommend highly to anyone. Thankyou again.

Love this place! Beautifully restored to original glory. My grandfather and father both worked here when they arrived in Australia. The rooms are not so quiet though, ( people / staff yapping in the hallway) 🙄
I had a Valley view room ( beautiful) don’t stay on the other side of the building as you will get road noise and train noise.
Breakfast was great, Gluten free High Tea was sadly a disappointment ( but wonderful view! ), but High Tea for non allergy people looked wonderful 😁Staff were lovely. Do the history tour 🙏💕
G. T.
Wonderful, Wonderful. Had morning tea at the Pavilion. I had the Reubin Toasted Sandwich washed down with an Almond flat white.
Yummy Yummy.. Highly recommend you visit. So much to see. I purchased some locally made gifts which I found very unique. They were eco friendly food wraps impregnated with bee's wax. This product replaces the need for plastic food wraps. And even more so: they are made by local Blue Mountain Beekeepers.
Make an effort to not only enjoy the beauty of the mountains but to maintain and support local businesses and our magnificent planet.
M. B.
Great hotel with awesome service. Very good food at the winter garden with heaps of places to sit back and relax by the fires or on a window seat with mountain views.
As for the downsides, the rooms are old and can be a bit loud if you are on the road side, you can sometimes hear people in the halls talking ect. But its not to much of a concern. As a young couple we did miss the lack of a pool and gym. It definitely is more of a sedated experience, with more sitting, drinking and eating, just being relaxed and peaceful.
C. P.
Fabulous place to stay. The continental breakfast is a dream. So much to choose from. The tour was very interesting and informative. The tour guide was entertaining and delightfully cheerful. The staff on the admission desk were so helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much to ask for.
A. J.
This is a beautiful hotel in a stunning location. We have stayed here, visited for an early evening drink and food, and has high tea all on seperate occasions. It is undeniably stunning but is let down by the pedestrian food and lack of facilities. The rooms are cramped because of the age of the hotel. If you want nothing more than a beautiful location with stunning artwork and surrounds then this will.do. For us there are better value propositions in the mountains.
C. P.
What a delightful treat, this mornings high tea was lovely, from the bite sized sandwiches to scones and small desserts all were really good well worth $55 ahead.
M. S.
Food was good. Staff were great but it is only really a 3 star hotel charging 5 star prices. I was expecting a lot more.
B. X.
Beautifully renovated and stunning location. We've been coming here for many years and its great to see a complete fit-out and refurbishment. We always take visitors here for Sunday tea. Highly recommend. Sometimes can be busy so may need bookings. Prices reflective of the high quality fit out.
I. P.
Really beautiful venue. Food was great, service was great and we had a blast at our friends wedding. All round a great evening.
K. M.
Stunning, beautifully restored and like stepping back in time. We stopped into the bar for a cool drink with a breathtaking view and with such friendly staff, I'm already planning my next trip here!
C. S.
Hi tea was delightful. Food was good and s eervice was good. Beautiful surroundings the hotel has been beautifully restored.

Went away with friends for the weekend and has the most exquisite experience staying at the hydro. The views ,atmosphere and staff were so awe inspiring that I will recommend this stay to anyone who will listen
B. A.
Brilliant! You're imagining what it will be like, and that's exactly what it IS like. Don't listen to the bad reviews, go and make up your own mind. ALL staff were nice, smiling, efficient. The food was great, both dinner and buffet breakfast. Room was heritage-style but modernised, just the right balance. Air con and radiator kept us toasty even though the temp outside dropped to below 0! The views are incredible. The hotel itself seems to stretch on forever. Had a tour for $10 with just the two of us and our knowledgable guide. Fascinating story behind this place, and the guide is really into his job which makes it so much more enjoyable. We only stayed 24 hours. I felt like I needed a week to really soak it in. We'll definitely be back.
R. T.
It is definitely majestic in its own right. The furnishings are warm and ooze confidence. The service friendly and graceful. The views are a amazing. My family enjoyed our High Tea and walk through the building.
P. M.
Was here today with my family for Mothers Day High Tee...this place is great and the food and tea was fantastic with prompt and friendly service...we loved coming here today from Sydney...will defiantly be visiting again.
R. H.
My wife and l had the most amazing overnight stay. Overnight accommodation with dinner in the Boiler House restaraunt and full buffet breakfast the next morning...Wow...the food and service was amazing. We couldn't fault anything about this magnificent hotel. Will definitely go back again and again.
D. M.
We were given a gourmet getaway voucher as a Xmas present. Stayed at the amazing Hydro Majestic last Thursday night. The staff were wonderful and went out of their way to help us with anything we asked of them. The winter garden dinner was great; topped off with brilliant views. Breakfast was enjoyable. Bed was comfy, and the history tour was conducted by a delightful guide( thanks Rebekah). Another thing ticked off my bucket list!!!!!!!!
L. P.
We loved it here.
Initially we were to come on a Sunday but the Wintergarden had been booked for a private function.
We eventually booked for a Monday. There were not a lot of people and the vibe was very relaxed. We opted for the menu which included a glass of bubbles for $70.
The food was lovely and well presented.I only had one coffee with my meal but wasn't aware that it was the only one on offer.I think that is odd given most High Teas do not limit your tea and coffee.
The only thing I noted were the carpets in the bathroom looked like they needed a good vacuum, and it wasn't from high traffic as I visited the bathroom before they opened at Midday.
I would return just for the spectacular view.
S. H.
History tour was very interesting and a good way to see the building. High tea was also a highlight. Oh and the view
S. S.
Simply awesome amazing place, huge, great views, exquisite fine dining, room very comfortable, salon du the is gorgeous. Breakfast delightful, and made to order if you want a hot one. Hotel includes fabulous historic stuff, even lovely olden day pictures in the bathrooms!!! 😊😊😊
a. a.
Amazing venue and the staff is great!
You will feel like in a Royal place, it was our first ever high tea experience and we enjoyed it a lot.
P. L.
An icon for all those travelling up through the top of the Blue Mountains. This place has been redone in white. Looks great but nothing is open on a Monday or Tuesday so not the best days to visit. A daily tour of the premises takes place at 11am for $10 each. Views across the relatively boring Megalong Valley are easy to see.

Being an executive pastry chef of fine dining and high tea, I'll admit, my expectations are always pretty high when trying other high tea venues.. I absolutely loved the look of the main dining area and foyer and the view from our table was beautiful, as we first got to our table and I pulled out my chair, it was covered in crumbs and food from a previous customer. So that was a bummer.. I love that they have a Western style traditional high tea and an Eastern style Asian inspired high tea. I had the tradition high tea and I have to say, I wish I hadn't when it came down to the petit fours. The presentation was lovely, but I found the sweets to be quite bland and used cheap ingredients. The rest of the high tea was great. The pork slaw sandwich was my favourite item on the whole stand. They do have gluten free and kid friendly menu option also, which is great. But the Eastern high tea definitely stole the show for its savoury items. The service was pretty good, however, it was a good hour or so after our high tea was done before anyone came around to the table to see how everything was and if we'd like anything else and we would've liked to have coffees before leaving.
T. L.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating to our circumstances. Overall we had a pleasant stay. The food was very nice - both at the wintergarden (dinner) and the lounge (breakfast). However, cleanliness of the room/toilet can be improved. There was hair on the walls of the toilet and in the shower curtain. That made it quite unpleasant to shower. There were also stains on the bathtub. Regardless, it was a decent experience overall.

Beautiful place.
Comfy atmosphere.
Unfortunately I had to keep going to find staff after ordering food because I didn't have cutlery and while waiting for staff to bring it, my food got cold. There was an item missing on my plate which he didnt bring so i went and asked bar staff and then the pork belly was hard as nails and smelt bad but the staff waiter tried to tell me it was fine...I sent it back but when I preferred my money back for that dish,, staff refused....
I was clearly not happy and going to make a complsint and then the staff member gave me a bottle of wine even though I don't drink that.
Bribery ?
My past experiences has always been good so this was dissapointing.
I probably won't be so excited to visit in future
D. W.
I took my nan here for the high tea and it was simply stunning! The atmosphere was lovely and someone was playing the grand piano which was beautiful. We were very full afterwards. Good value for money! The views are spectacular as well.
S. P.
This hotel is absolutely stunning. First time we stayed here and it was amazing. Staff are very accommodating and the breakfast was great aswell. Room was small but nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Unfortunately no room service which is a shame but a few lovely restaurants onsite and the bar offers light snacks and drinks until late that has a lovely seating area with breath taking views. The onsite cafe and gift shop is defiantly worth a stop in aswell. Had a lovely stay at this beautiful hotel.
E.
Very nice place to come and relax when in the blue mountains, if you can't get into any of the restaurants or high tea, go to the cafe at the East end or just have a drink at the bar and enjoy the view. The history your is also interesting.
S. G.
Wow what a view. Our room rate included a 3 course dinner and breakfast. Very tasty.
From check in to check out everything was wonderful.
S. C.
Loved the old world charm. The views from the lounge and restaurant were spectacular. Bed super comfortable.
D. M.
Beautiful food, beautiful location. Had dinner at the Wintergarden for our 10 year wedding anniversary. The food was amazing. My only reason for not giving 5 stars was that we sat on empty drinks for quite a while before being offered another. But other that that the staff, restaurant and food were great.
T. B.
Its expensive, but if you can afford it, well worth it. So many luxuries can be found here. The rooms are beautifully decorated. The views of the mountains are breath taking. Food, service, and everything about here is top shelf. Relax, sit back and just be in this beautiful place. Bush walking and sight seeing in the mountains is just on the door step.
V. K.
I love love love this place
Old world charm and full of both history and character. This old hotel has been fully refurbished and brought back from the dead several years ago and is now a preferred destination for many across the world
Located in the picturesque Katoomba, The Blue Mountains there is so much to see and do around here
From the Three Sisters Lookout at Echo Point to The Waterfalls you could spend a day here or a week
This place is amazing in summer and incredible during the winter months where you can enjoy a high tea for lunch overlooking the valley or charming dinner for two or a group of twenty two!
It has it all!
Rooms are s but pricy but beautiful. Large rooms with the most comfy beds and clean crisp linen. It’s quality all the way
Food served is of excellent world class quality. Their high tea is also terrific and reasonably priced
Service is exceptional and of world class.
The cafe next door is also part of the hotel and offers a great Pitt stop choice with great local and international food and giftware available for sale. Pricey but nice to just stroll through!
Enjoy your day out in this part of Australiana
Photos are all mine.

Went for my daughter’s birthday, view is amazing high tea was nice though the sandwiches for the kids were a little to old for them other than that enjoyed my time
J. O.
We had lunch at the boiler room, I was pleased we'd booked ahead (online so easy!). The service was pleasant and attentive, the food was tasty and prompt. The view was lovely but not quite as spectacular as I'd hoped given the restaurant does not look down into the valley. Still, a nice place for a casual sophisticated lunch.
R. T.
Beautiful venue with stunning views. The shop attached to the cafe had many nice things to look at.
L. L.
We had the high tea and it was so nice. The staff were amazing and the service was fantastic. Unfortunately we had booked ahead for a window table and the view was covered by fog because it was raining. When the fog started to lift the view was beautiful. The day was lovely and I will definitely go back.
M. B.
Lovely atmosphere and great service. Rooms bathroom not cleaned properly otherwise a great place to stay. Views are stunning. Made us delve into the history of the building and area.
Wandering arou d the building and grounds was very enjoyable.
Loved the breakfast👍
D. H.
The room was comfortable and complete as described. Felt frustrated at one point as walls were quite thin and the guests next door were very noisy. The dinner was delicious, but breakfast was slightly disappointing with the quality of the hot food. Overall good experience and beautiful view.
s. l.
Went to the winter garden for the high tea. Really enjoyed the high tea that's comes with 2 tea/coffee. Very unusual, but practical. The view is amazing and the food is great.
I. C.
Another bucket list item crossed off the list! We had always wanted to stay at the Hydro but were previously unable to aford to. Then it closed down and this was the first opportunity we've had to stay since the renovations. Midweek tariff is reasonable and the rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Staff are helpful and curteous. Dinner in the dining room was very special, the food is exceptional and wait staff very helpful. The ambiance in the main parlor, complete with open fire is fantastic as are the views down into the valley. It's well worth the extra few dollars to get one of the rooms at the rear which overlook the valley. Well worth the wait.

Went to the Hydro Majestic for high tea for a birthday treat. The upgrades to this beautiful building makes just as beautiful on the inside as the view on the outside which is breath taking. The food itself was delicious, honestly more food than you can eat. The traditional high tea had scones, sandwiches and then things go up a peg with the savoury pastries and then the top plate to die for. The Asian high tea was just as impressive. The only down side was the service. The staff though very friendly and a wish to be helpful were inexperienced and lacked the awareness of the comfort of the guests, something that really is required when a table has 3 high tea stands on it. All in all it was so good that we booked again for July 2017.
J. A.
Took a friend of mine who had never been there. It was amazing. Didn't stay overnight just had coffee and cake in the cafe. Walked around and looked through the building. Wonderful day.
M. D.
This place is amazing, the food is superb and the staff were all accomodating especially the Filipina staffs they all so friendly and helpful. Kudos to all the staff in the resto we love coming back here!
M. B.
Haven't stayed in the hotel but have seen some of the rooms. Lovely decor in tiny rooms but very comfortable. Some work needs to be done with the reading lights...very arty but quite impractical to use in bed. Have eaten in the main Wintergarden restaurant. Lovely selection of local and regional wines. Wonderful menu with beautifully crafted dishes...the duck was probably the best I've ever had. The Boiler House restaurant has an interesting menu. Above average pricing but substantial serves. Wide range of guest activities possible, with beautiful sweeping views of the Megalong Valley.
C. S.
Really nice venue its beginning to get a bit dated but that adds to the charm of an older style of heritage building.
We were there for a wedding and the views that were overlooking the national park were spectacular. The food at the reception was also probably the best wedding food I've had at a reception thus far and would recommend it to everyone.
The venue is rich with heritage and history and the adea is spectacular.
J. E.
We were blown away by the historical look of the hotel. The bar lounge is exceptional; a very relaxing and warm place to be. My only disappointment was the promise of views from their Hargravia View room, only to discover it was a square box view; larger windows to help take in the breathtaking landscape would make it a world class hotel. Otherwise, amazing experience.
F. C.
Very disappointed. Came to the Hydro for the afternoon high tea. As something that I have a lot of, across most of Sydney, I was excited about trying it here. I felt let down.
For the first time ever, I'm sure, we were presented with our high tea and the waiter promptly walked away. No explaining of what each thing was, which is part of a quintessential high tea, as they are all different.
More disappointment when I tried the sandwiches. Soggy. Obviously been sat there a while. A truth borne out when I walked past the kitchen and saw all the high teas laid out like a factory.
No sense of personal service. No sense of occasion. I felt like a commodity.
K. S.
High tea was fantastic. Service was on point and location was remarkable. We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the wintergardens, a special surprise was presented to us by the venue. We were so impressed. Thankyou for a great lunch.
M. P.
Such a great weekend! The hydro majestic was elegant, the staff we attentive and the food at the winter garden was incredible. I would highly recommend paying more to stay in the Belgravia rooms.
The only complaint I would make is that the "boiler room cafe" was not amazing. Beautiful views everywhere though.
R. B.
Weekend romantic getaway, bit of a letdown, small room, evening meal food was very good, but then given a bill for the side dishes for the main course. Staff were helpful, and did their best, but overall needs more polish to be the full package.
C. V.
The staff were not friendly when we arrived & high tea was not good on service as well.
Room, well could have been cleaner.
Had to keep asking for top up on tea & coffee in your room.
We stayed 3 nights in an expensive room, so thought we'd have better service.
There was more, but that's life.
S. C.
We stayed for two nights, Friday and Saturday nights for our Wedding Anniversay. Magnificant building beautifully decorated. t Be aware no lifts.only stairs and lots of them. The staff are marvelous and as far as I am concerned the greatest asset for the Hotel. Warm, friendly the staff went out of there way to make us feel special. Food was really great.💗🍾🥂😊
H. S.
Very nice atmosphere and views while having high tea. Advised at booking that we are strict vegetarian, but when food arrived we had to prompt the waitress to check if there was gelatine in the desserts which of course there was. A replacement was brought out, but disappointing. Scones, teas and sandwiches were nice. Staff communication was hit and miss
A. N.
I went to the Hydro Majestic Hotel with my girlfriend's as we heard it was a really good high tea place. I think they charged us $65 per head (the cheapest option on a Saturday), they had a good range of cakes, tea and sandwiches with breathtaking views of the mountains. I really enjoyed my time here and I think it is worth the 1.5 hour trip.
Y. H.
Amazing venue! With spectacular views. Interesting historical building! Really enjoyed the high tea, was delicious
J. E.
Great Hotel, fantastic service. High Tea Delicious a must do is the Hotel tour with James, so interesting and James is a wealth of knowledge.
S. M.
We went for high tea at the Hydro on a nice sunny day and enjoyed great views and great food. Staff was very efficient and friendly.
J. H.
A complex of different buildings. Pavilion- Cafe, Bar, Overpriced gift Shop Supermarket w/ historic memorabilia & pictures. Boiler Room - is an Art gallery & Cafe. Beers start at $8.50.

We were looking forward to staying in this iconic hotel, but it wasn't quite the full experience we were expecting. Firstly, when we checked in it was at the bar/coffee bar, which doubles as reception. Secondly, no-one helped with our luggage, but gave us instructions as to how to reach our rooms. The layout of the hotel is a little confusing and after a bit of confusion, we finally found the entrance to our accommodation, which was through a door off a corridor, which accessed 2 flights of stairs (past a kitchen!) to our floor. The rooms were smaller than expected for the price, but very nicely decorated and furnished. The beds were comfortable, with beautifully soft sheets and pillows. There were no spare towels though, just the bare essentials (ie one hand towel and one bath towel each, as well as the usual flannel and bath mat). The shower was nice and powerful but the hot tap did make a rattle when it was running. The buffet breakfast (which cost extra) was well done - a large assortment of different breakfast dishes: cheeses, cold meats, pastries, breads, spreads, eggs, bacon, sausages, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms, tea and coffee and various juices. However, no-one cleared our plates as they started to mount up (there were 4 of us) and I would have expected better table service from such an expensive hotel. I think most people go there for the dining (as well as the spas) - they have an excellent reputation for fine dining there, with 2 inhouse restaurants that look out onto the spectacular Megalong Valley. It was fun, but not quite the 4-5* (I forget which one it is) experience.
A. G. W.
I visited for a high tea birthday celebration, and the hotel was beautiful post renovation. The interior was elegant, the view was beautiful, and the food was nice and more filling than expected. It was quite pricy, though I suppose that's the norm with high tea, so overall I'd say it was a positive experience for a special occasion.
D. C.
This hotel has so much history and such a beautiful place to see. Every room is detailed and has its own quirks. Our overnight stay was great. Fine dining at their in-house restaurant was very delightful. Lunch was also fantastic. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and a funny character. Highly recommend checking out this hotel!
M. A. S.
We booked a package with train trip from Sydney with High Tea. The food was fantastic but the tea was really disgusting. It was brought out in a large metal jug, identical to a water jug in a hospital, and was used to serve the whole table of 10. The tea was extremely weak and cold. I would have thought that High Tea would have included a choice of teas, and hot water. Even just offering a choice of tea bags would have been better. Everyone on our table was disappointed. However, I could not fault the food or the service.
N. M.
The classiest place in the mountains to watch the spectacular Megalong Valley sunset.
You don't even have to be a guest of the hotel to visit their boutique bar. Just order your favourite (our is Henessey) and a cheese platter and find your most comfortable viewpoint.
M. H.
Always beautiful. Great food and fantastic service. We've never had any problems here. 💜 The tea is something else. ☕
J. D.
Staff were friendly and attentive. The building itself is fabulous and the room was basically what I expected with both my wife and myself happy with a very comfortable bed.
Views were great. The only real disappointment was the food in the restaurant
J. B.
Visiting the Hydro Majestic to check out the panoramic view over Megalong Valley has been on my bucketlist for years. I knew I'd be driving past today so I had a look at their website to see what times the restaurant was open. Turns out there are a couple of restaurants to choose from but they were all overpriced and required bookings. Despite this we stopped off here anyway, luckily, because what their website fails to mention is that there is fairly inexpensive walk in cafe. Sandwiches, pies, sausage rolls, cakes, slices, soft drink, milkshakes, tea and coffee. Food is okay but the view is beautiful. Definitely worth dropping in for a pit stop and quick photo op.
S. E.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful dinner and high tea and relaxing and has great atmosphere
m. b.
This place was a great place to sit down and have a drink or two or three.very old style modern Deco. Love to return again visiting from Melbourne Vic.over night stay a bit pricey..... 🥂🥂🍻🍻
A. M.
Lots of great history and an amazing view of the valley! Cafe is top notch with great tea, coffee and cake options. Great place to stop in for a casual bite to eat or a more formal dinner/high tea. Boiler room has a great casual dining menu
J. C.
Good experience. Food (had the gourmet package) was good and the ambience great. Room (with the view) was different to what was advertised, feeling more cramped and less modern. Walls filled with generic (repeating) photos of the hotel. Would like to have had more an immersive experience with the history/culture
I. I.
my partner and i drove from Sydney to this hotel for the weekend. beautiful reception, the deco is luxurious and sophisticated and very relaxing but enticing music playlist. Though the room was nicely setup, they are quite small and not enough space to move around. the view from the room of the blue mountain terrain was to die for. i don't know how some people could not find the hotel reception when it clearly states which building is which in bold. I would definitely recommend this place and my partner and i will definitely go back
D. M.
Nicely restored, old world, Blue Mountains Hotel. Rooms can be quite small but are well appointed and comfortable. Plenty of cosy places to curl up with a book, a friend, a drink or just the stunning views itself. The vibe is very subdued so if you like to rage others might appeal more, but for a quiet getaway in the Blue Mountains it is hard to go past.
L. W.
Great history at your browsing disposal just by walking round the place.
Has a unique feel in the amount of events packed into the many areas of the place. There is a lot on offer for free but I strongly suggest a beverage wile enjoying the view.
For a place that has an upmarket history and structure, I was not snubbed of excluded from anything, very welcoming, due to the staff I think.
Very worth a stop when visiting the blue mountains.
A. B.
Great views. Very nice coffee and scones.. Staff need a kick in the bum.. Especially the consierge.. Asked if we could book a table beside the window. Rudely told no.. You are seated whereever. We must have not looked rich enough.
m. a.
Very disappointing....not the seating that was requested, front of door person quite aloof and dismissed my request to be reseated. Sommelier, after wine was rejected was very apologetic. High Tea was ok, no wow factor. View, however, was spectacular if only we had uninterrupted view as requested when booked!!
B. B. B. C. A.
Had high tea here. Desserts were fantastic and solid tea range. Highlight is the view if you can be seated near the window!
S. L.
The Hydro was easy to find and is located high up in the mountains, which made for a gorgeous view. The food felt a little cafeteria-y, but the service, views, and quality of the tea was absolutely incredible. Would be worth the $75pp if you had a little bit of spare cash, but youre definitely paying for the view and not the food.
D. S.
Lovely old heritage building, we stayed in the Belgravia Deluxe Room, well presented and plenty of room. High tea was nice, staff friendly and attentive.
M. G.
My wife and I had High Tea for two and it was absolutely beautiful. We've been a couple of times, the hotel and surrounds are gorgeous and the High Tea itself is always extremely well done. A lovely treat and a recommended visit for anyone travelling to the Blue Mountains.
D. L. 松.
The beautiful view of Blue Mountains from the hotel balcony is amazing! However it is a pity that the original historic photographs on the corridor wall and the hydro bath that I saw in the hotel corridor have disappeared!
Moreover a piano has been put in the lobby and another one inside the restaurant. I remember once in a restaurant ferry in Darling Harbour in which also provided a piano to let the customer to play songs. I suggest the hotel put a sign on the piano that welcome the people to play a song. This will make the people more interested in visiting this place.
A. J.
What can you say but … fantastic. Perhaps it's the memories of running up and down the long corridors as a kid, but I love the place; and that's especially true after the painstaking renovations. Every nook and cranny is both elegant and ornate, and the view is spectacular. Highly recommended for both a stay and a drop-in on your way over the mountains.
B. D.
I visited the Hydro Majestic Hotel when passing through on my way to Blackheath, I often stop here to look at the view and to visit the cafe shop, as they roast their coffee on site and have a great selection of other drinks such as Chai latte and delicious hot chocolate. The food they sell is both savoury and sweet. They even have fancy icecream. I've never stayed overnight at the hotel part yet it looks like a lovely place to stay. The high tea offering was about $200 and had a delicious range of food, and the teas available enhanced the experience even further. Service was top notch and so was the view from the cliff top. Great choice for a fancy outing or when you need to impress.
T. M.
As we dined somewhere else I can't comment on the main dining room although it did look very opulent when we looked in from the entry room. The service was top notch and the staff were decked out in the sorts of uniforms that herald back to …
J. T.
Beautiful hotel, with lots of history and an incredible view. Unfortunately I didn't get time for high tea in the restaurant but it looks unreal. I was a bit let down with the cafe' food was not very appealing and felt it could be really amazing if it was a more appetising menu. Coffee was average at best and I was a bit confused by the old chairs hanging from the roof.
T. L.
What can you say about this place. Classic style. I loved the old Hydro. I wish I was born earlier.
Brilliant😉🙂🥰👍
You have to visit this beautiful hotel🙂💙👍
G. P.
A very enjoyable stay in this historic hotel that has been refurbished to reflect its former beauty. Our room was quiet & the staff friendly & always helpful. A walk through the corridor was pleasant with a mix of old time glory & the feeling of contemporary elegance.

Its one of the more expensive places you can stay up here in the mountains but well worth it. Its got amazing views and the place is very well kept. What you would expect of a hotel of this price. Only reason I don't give it five stars is expensive hotels are not my thing, otherwise the five star reviews are well deserved.

Lovely old hotel, rooms are very clean, current and modern, bed was very comfortable,, bathrooms a bit small and no elevators so hauling your luggage up multiple flights of stairs is not fun. Restaurants had good food, would stay again!
A. H.
We stayed in a Belgravia Suite on our wedding night, the room was spacious, the spa was a lovely ending to a perfect day and the bed was amazingly comfortable. In the morning we stayed for the breakfast buffet and although it was a little pricey, the food was delicious and there was a huge range to choose from.
I probably won't stay here again as I live in Sydney but it was perfect for a special occasion.

A magnificent old hotel with breathtaking views of the Megalon Valley. It has a gift shop in a separate building that serves wonderful coffee and pastries. The pies are made on the premises and are the best meat pies you can buy.
Definitely worth a stop for a look around and a coffee and a pie.

We live in Katoomba and have been planning to go to High Tea for ages, especially due to gluten free choice, for one if us! We took our visitors from Sweden and they really enjoyed the experience. The decor impressed us all so much! took us back to a beautiful bygone era. Vivi enhanced and entranced the younger (9 yr old) and treated her like a little princess. We were all made feel very special by her gorgeous demeanour, she explained everything in a graceful detailed style and answered any other questions. My hubby is still raving about his GF delights! Mine was the best I've ever had! and I have enjoyed many!! Another lady we spoke to re location of the 'ladies' was also lovely, and also a sweet smiling beautiful face. We will be returning with friends👌

The Hydro Majestic was a very welcome stop on our way from Sydney out to Orange. The room is beautifully laid out with remarkable artefacts and items for sale. The food was delicious and fresh and they also have a wonderful selection of local wines and beers.
M. H.
Taken out for my birthday, best table with an amazing view, beautiful food, excellent service and 2 anazing friends
R. I.
I didn't stay in the actual hotel but have been to the cafe many times. The food is very nice and everything is very clean. The gift shop has a lot of nice items available for purchase. The only issue I have is that the gift shop / cafe area seems a little cluttered and is a bit of a maze to get around but it's still very nice though.
J. M.
An excellent high tea, with a beautiful view and attentive staff. The sandwiches and cakes were delicous. My only suggestion is to add gluten free scones to the gluten free high tea. I have been to other high teas that have served gluten free scones, and when they are relatively simple to make, for the Hydro not to have them is a bit disappointing.
J. W.
It is a magnificent building with breathtaking views. Its service and management really lets it down.
They have a parking lot which always seems to be full of cars from passers by and they make guests park on the highway.
The man on concierge was arrogant and snubed suggestions that there were adjoining rooms in the hotel which we new there was from our prevoius stay.
The bar is ridiculously expensive.
The food was great but lacked options for children.
J. P.
The hotel was a lovely experience and the view really is gorgeous. The hotel has been nicely refurbished but I was a tad disappointed that the large white bath towels were about as absorbent as a car chamois.
Surprised that vegetarian options for inhouse dinners were paltry. Fortunately there are other restaurants in nearby towns which had great vege and vegan selections. Two which provided great choices and delicious food were Fumo and Pins on Lurline.
E. T.
My husband and I stayed here back in 2015 in summer.
No airconditioner or ceiling fan in room. Food was ordinary and service was poor.
My preferred accommodation is normally at Lilianfels Blue Mountains but this visit we agreed to try Hydro Majestic.
My rating of 3 is purely based on the period features, the rich history and amazing views.
My recommendation would be to enjoy the surroundings and the history of this gorgeous place and lower your expectations on service and dining.
R. F.
Oasis on a hot summer day! Haven't slept over, but used the other amenities on-site - fit for a weary traveler. The gift shop/coffee shop is well stocked and the drinks and treats delicious.
N. P.
High tea was sumptuous and views to soothe the soul.
J. A.
Wonderful!, we did the history tour followed by a high tea
Had a great afternoon

Whilst the refurbishment is a blessing, unfortunately there are still issues with the rooms. The decor is lovely and the large lounge chairs in the suites are superb.
But the old acoustics remain. We as in my wife and I could hear everything in the room above including walking and talking. Not to mention the pipes in the amenities. That brings me onto the toilet in our room. A very tall person could not use it as their knees would hit the wall in front of them! Did the Hydro management not think of this? Also, no tissue box in the room. Such a simple thing yet missing.
It is quite expensive and frankly not worth the money. We would definitely not stay here again or recommend it. Three stars are given because of the lovely ambience. However, they have seriously overlooked some finer points in the upgrade of rooms.

We (group of 4) attended high tea at the Wintergarden restaurant. The venue is stunning but the food was nothing special (we had both the standard Wintergarden and Eastern options). The quality of tea was quite good though. The is a strange cancellation policy where they reserve the right to charge AUD 75 per head for a cancellation within 48hrs of the reservation (booked via OpenTable).
Y. R.
We we’re there yesterday Saturday, 5th of December 2020 for a high tea booked for 11.15am allowed us to enjoy our food, company and the great panoramic spectacular view of the mountains overlooking the huge window of the restaurant with my family and we just love it and lots of guests as well and they doing the COVIDSafe policies scanning and all that...food are yummy great in nice presentation each & every food in the plates served...very friendly staffs, again spectacular view of the Montains all around the restaurant and nice Christmas 🎄 decorations and nice all rounder everywhere🥰😱😜😊🙏

Went to the Hydro majestic for a high tea for my mum's 60th. The view was fantastic and so relaxing. The service was great kept our water topped up and as many hot chocolates as we wanted. The food was good but the scones were abit hard and they don't give you enough jam or cream.
D. B.
Amazing place, they have really done well to preserve it's history and heritage. I recommend spending the time reading about its history or watching the well presented documentary thats playing in your room as you arrive. Then go explore and enjoy this wonderful place and make sure you pull up at the end of the day to enjoy the sun set over the mountains while sipping on a nice wine either in the restaurant, lobby or out your very own window in one of the valley view rooms.
G. J.
I am rating this as a 4 due to the excessive accommodation pricing. We had a brilliant weekend and happy to have done this once, but due to the pricing we won't be returning unless we can find a great special.
M. O.
The Hydro has been restored very well. It's not a complete modernised renovation where the rooms look exactly the same as any modern city hotel - the rooms are small, there were signs of age in the rooms and in the bathroom fittings. But that adds to the experience - I was glad the rooms were not just some anonymous rooms like all the others around. The restoration has kept the spirit of the bygone Hydro - it is a spectacular building with outstanding views onto the Megalong Valley - getting a room with a view of that is a must - waking up to the cloud valley is a highlight. The eating spaces are also excellent and the character has been kept along the corridors. The food was also excellent.
A. P.
Absolutely stunning view for high tea with 2 types to choose from. Food was delicious but service was a bit clumsy but they tried their best. Very impressed with how majestic the hotel really is.
D. C.
Only went to look at the fantastic building with beautiful old world but with modern touches. You can walk all the way through the building on th cliff side
R. A.
We had a wintergarden high tea which was for 2 people. The scones were delightful. The other sweets were fairly ordinary. Definately not worth $65 p.p.Whilst the venue itself was absolutely stunning I just cant justify paying $130 for an afternoon tea
K. M.
I just want to say a big thank you for your amazing hotel. We felt so special as soon as we walked in for our 25th wedding anniversary . The food in the Winter Garden restaurant wads amazing we ate there 2 nights in a row.
C. M.
Outstanding venue. We were fortunate to stay and enjoy dinner and the beautiful bar. There are many other places nearby to eat if the hotel doesnt work for you. The bar is however a must for a drink! Just wonderful! 5*****
S. G.
This place is a must visit in the Blue Mountains. Neat and clean with stunning views and mouthwatering eateries at the high tea. Remember to carry your camera for.some.tunning pics.

Where little expense has been spared to give you the impression that no expense has been spared (apologies to D. Adams).
This property, with its amazing history, and its fantastic location and vistas, has a real potential to become "the place to visit and stay at", but it seems to be missing the point.
The recent renovation is a masterpiece - almost. There are a few bits that have missed the mark, and the corners that were cut in the process are now sticking out like dog's b**ls. For example, the peeling paint in the bathroom and the ambiguous big-screen TV in the very small room.
There is such potential for this place to enjoy its former glory once again, but not as a "hotel in Medlow Bath". It needs to be both a Destination, and a staging point, like it once was. There is absolutely nothing in Medlow Bath, and guests need to go elsewhere to do anything but enjoy the views, and the really good food and service.
Why not provide connections with tourist services, or provide those services yourself? I would happily base myself at the hotel for a number of days, if all I had to do was roll out of bed, have breakfast, and let you take care of my day.
We travelled to the hotel by train, and that was good.
N. K.
My partner and I went here to celebrate our anniversary. It was super luxurious! I loved the fact that there were several different areas to explore, for example the Cats Alley, Belgravia Wing, Wintergarden Restaurant and others.
Our hotel room was clean with a touch of heritage and offered awesome views of the Blue Mountains Escarpment. We were given some luxury bathroom supplies.
The Wintergarden Restaurant has a great menu with lovely staff! Not to mention beautiful panoramic views of the escarpment. We went for dinner TWICE!
The Hydro Majestic is located conveniently so we were able to visit many places given our short stay.
Even if you don't stay overnight here, I would still recommend to come here and check out the Pavilion. Here you can grab coffee and enjoy the amazing view.
T. L. N.
We went with the family for high tea, we had 3 kids under 3 with us. The staff were very accommodating and welcoming providing the kids with crayons and paper. The view from our table was beautiful.
M. R.
We had afternoon tea at the Pavilion. The service was great, very quick and the staff were very obliging. The coffee was very tasty and there was a good range of pastries. The ambiance of the Pavilion was interesting with a historical theme.
P. B.
It has views to die for...lovely old building transformed into a Palacial hotel.
The ambience inside was good, however the music in the coffee room was allover the place.
Reception was hopeless as most outstation Australian hotels are and couldn't show us a room. Staff attention was OK. Hospitality was OK.
M.
Nice high tea. Nice atmosphere. A little expensive although the experience was nice
K. C.
Went there for high tea, the food is seasonal I believe based on three times I have been there. 55 dollars per person is rather pricey in my opinion so making the most of coffee/tea is thr way to go. Window seating is a must to enjoy the view of the valley however I suggest bringing a pair of sunnies because last time the glare from the sun was abit too much.
T. M.
All facets of our stay was nothing short of amazing and we cannot wait to return. I don't think so, it's a beautiful room with a view. I would recommend arriving earlier at the hotel to explore the cafes/bars/restaurants and then checking in at 3pm to see your room.
R. S.
Very comfortable (but small) room. It is quite difficult to find reception so i entered the restaurant by mistake. The young staff member on duty was obviously frustrated at repeated hotel arrivals entering in the wrong place and was quite short with me in poor English. Heads turned toward us. Not the best start to my visit. However the young man at check in and young woman on check out were faultless. I might only suggest an arrow sign indicating reception outside?
T. N.
Gorgeous views. Came here for a friends birthday party. Such a great location. Never knew about this place but coming back for sure. Check out their tea selection and they have a souvenir shop next door which is a bit touristy but still nice.
T. M.
A lovely stay at the Hydro Majestic, ***y great things about this lovely property but ***y things are missing. In a beautiful setting like the Hydro Majestic it's disappointing that the staff don't know what they're doing. The hotel should …
M. G.
Nice place to visit and have a walk around. Great views out over the mountain's and it truly is a majestic building that is well presented. We had a coffee in the red room that didn't match the grandeur of the place but a pleasant experience nonetheless.
A. C.
Large grand building overlooking a breathtaking valley. Perfect for taking photos. Plenty of items to look through in the gift shop and the cafe serves delicious food. Plenty of parking both onsite or on the road.
C. L.
Great location, wonderful view from my (view) room. Room was very small buy had everything I needed, didn't need any more. Nice decor, friendly staff, but odd hours for serving food at the many cafes/restaurants.
T. M.
On arrival we were impressed with the renovation that has taken place. I would have thought this would have all been immaculately clean before reopening. Limited access to extra power sockets for charging of phones/cameras etc. Having said …

Absolutely amazing venue with fantastic views.
Multiple ballrooms, conference rooms, offices & amazing gardens throughout the complex.
B. W.
Had high tea Beautiful views. Service excellent. Food average
J. S.
Myself and my partner booked a High-Tea here over a weekend and it was not exceptionally busy (It should be stated that the restaurant was only serving high tea options at the time).
Whilst the setting of the hotel is very good and the view from the Wintergarden is amazing, the experience was not particularly good.
I come from a high level (five star / luxury) service and Hospitality background and what was provided was definitely sub-par against what the establishment claims it to be.
We were ignored by the concierge and then seated on a just cleared table, despite there being several set and ready to use tables around us. There was a wait for cutlery, a longer than necessary wait to order, and water was not poured until just before food arrived when traditionally this should be done by the staff member seating patrons.
Food wise, again this was unfortunately average, with cold scones (although the waitress stated they were warm), and pre-made tart shells being used for the pastries provided.
The goats cheese tart was missing another element to balance out the flavour of the cheese, whilst the proportions of some elements in the sweet pastries being slightly off; such as too much meringue in the lemon meringue tart causing it to not be set properly and almost overpower the lemon curd.
The finger sandwich's were perhaps the best part, though lacking in that quintessential high-tea item: the cucumber sandwich; which was slightly disappointing.
Whilst the view made up for the sub-par service, I would recommend another option in the area for your High-Tea. Or possibly trying the Eastern high tea option to see if that has any merit over the traditional version.
J. B.
The hydro majestic have really improved their service since opening. We have stayed here a few times.... but recently I have noticed a significant improvement. The building, decor and views are breathtaking. The food was sensational. Well done.
H. S.
Wow! It is so refreshing to see such a well restored iconic building in Australia. This has to be one of the best restorations. No expense appears to have been spared. The furniture is just exquisite and the attention is really incredible. I loved this peacock feather drapes and artwork in Cats Alley. This is a must see for anyone travelling in Australia. The restaurant was fabulous with a very high standard that is most certainly fine dining. Pam Seaborn gave me a lovely tour. Thank you to the owners for putting so much effort into what will always be an inconic building in Australia thanks to them.
E. R.
I went here for their Christmas in July banquet. Very expensive. I wish you got at least limited options in what you eat but sadly no. Definitely not a good choice for fussy eaters. Service was average and a bit slow. It took over two hours to receive all the food. I think it was OK but I'm giving 4 stars because I have to admit it's not my scene.
S. D.
This iconic hotel is absolutely stunning! ... from the moment you arrive to the time you leave, it is a journey through time that should not be missed !!
After a fair bit of a drive from Newie we finally arrived early afternoon. What a 'sight for sore eyes' ... wow, what an amazing complex !! We had enough time, before dinner, to grab a few drinks in the Wintergarden and take in the afternoon sunset over the Megalong Valley and the glorious views over the Blue Mountains.
You have to take your time and walk the 1.25Km through the sixteen individual attached buildings to appreciate the enormousness of the property... it will blow your mind !! every space tells its own story...exquisite little tea rooms and lots of mini restaurants, cafe's and function rooms.. The Wintergarden is absolutely magnificent... so much history.
Even though it was very cold outside most spaces were kept at a very comfortable temperature indoors. Most areas had large open type fire places.
The room renovation was nice and comfortable and there was still a feeling of the old world. In saying that, i still found our bathroom rather cold in the middle of the night...
All in all it was a great stay and a experience but when you imagine the amount of money that has been invested into the renovations its no surprise that the prices are high as a result. Recommended not to be missed.... Great for a short relaxing break.
T. M.
What a great night. Our favourite area in the Majestic was definatly Salon deThé and The Cats Alley, and we enjoyed pre and post dinner drinks in The Cats Alley. Has had a $35m face lift and it shows, gone is the daggy restuarant and a very well, designed and stylish dining room in its place.
T. R.
I took some overseas friends for a quick walk late one afternoon last week. Matthew at reception introduced himself and proceeded to discuss the history and unique features of the Hotel as he walked with us for ten minutes. Exceptional service and most interesting . Greatly appreciated
L. P.
Wasn't feeling very hungry so went to the Salon Du The for some drinks and snacks and got the most beautiful presented cocktail that I've had for a long time. The dimsum basket was great as a snack. Plus weather was good so we got a table out on the terrace with unbelievable view to the Megalong Valley. Definitely enjoyed.
B. R.
Good allround on the expensive side for drinks ect
J. B.
Our room was of a good size, compared to my parents room who had a room half the size. During the night a gate came unlatched and in the wind continued to open and bang shut for several hours. We only stayed here because we were attending a wedding, otherwise would not have spent the money.
C. T.
The high tea was nice, we were lucky to visit on a relatively quiet day so got a window seat and had good service.
m. p.
We booked 3 nights accommodation arriving on the first day accommodation was available - 23 December. On checking in ten minutes before the 3pm official check-in time the receptionist said she would check to see if our room was ready - first night, no previous night guests! Ten minutes later we were shown to our room - Belgravia Heritage Valley View (one of the most expensive). Beautiful décor and view. No luggage rack, clock or radio - basic hotel/motel room pre-requisites. Our toilet seat was broken. The next day our room was not serviced until 4pm after a visit to reception - the phone for housekeeping, guest services and reception did not work.
We had booked in for Xmas lunch in the Wintergarden. We arrived at the appointed time of 12pm and waited whilst staff finished setting up and vacuuming. We were let in at about 12.15pm. It was buffet and I started with turkey and ham which was lukewarm with no traditional accompaniments even though they were mentioned in the menu. Service was poor and whilst drinks were included in the price of $189 per person a lady was charged for a bottle of mineral water whilst I was not charged for orange juice. My husband said the seafood was good. The view was spectacular, the food was ordinary. Not worth $189.
The hotel opened before it was ready so, hopefully, in six months the hotel will live up to the view. The public rooms are beautiful with attention to detail which is missing in the hotel. The manager told us they are aiming at entry level 4 star status but they have a way to go.
If you want to stay at the Hydro wait for a while until the "knicks" have been worked out.
D. L.
With an unobstructed view over looking the mountains, and the internal decor to match, it is a beautiful place to enjoy the high Tea. Whilst the scenery is breathtaking, the quality/variety of food needs improvement to match its 5 stars status
D. C.
Great views and terrific staff. Garden restaurant was beautiful. Had the scallops for entree and the duck for main and both were amazing and our waiter was lovely.
R. C.
Wonderful high tea experience. Went last weekend for an anniversary and it was perfect. Great service and amazing food. The view from the restaurant is incredible too!
J. N.
What an amazing hotel. Majestic is an understatement. Comfortable well appointed rooms. Gorgeous bathroom.products.
Beautiful views. Peaceful. Lush gardens. Friendly staff.
Highly recommended.
B. H.
You will go back in time in this over 100 years old 4 star hotel. The view from certain rooms and places are breathtaking. Nearly every part in the hotel is in a different style, just marveling. The prices of about 250 AUD for a room is on the top of the range in the area of Sydney.
R. J.
Had my wife's 60th birthday with 33 family and friends, absolutely beautiful having the High Tea party
P. R. (.
First visit. Really enjoyed it. Views are awesome, the restaurant was fantastic. Only gripe i have is the water pressure in the bathroom and variety of drinks. Very minor stuff. Will come back
D. H.
This big old Hotel has been through some changes over the years. This trip I found the food and service was outstanding. They also had very modern conference facilities in the ballroom. Overall it was a very good experience.
S. M.
Very welcoming & attentive staff.
Delicious dinner & great service.
Very comfortable accommodation with very clean room & ensuite with great products.
Substantial & tasty breakfast. Would return without a doubt.
T. M.
Bathroom incredibly small so the towels are stored in the closet in the room. We checked into the smallest room that we have ever stayed in. We had Devonshire Tea overlooking the expanse of the valley and mountains. We had dinner in the main restaurant which was ok for a hotel restaurant.
B. R.
Love love loved staying here and will definitely be back! Such a beautiful old world charm and history to the place that has been honoured in its most recent renovations. Spectacular views, lush decor and friendly helpful staff. What an experience 😍
G. K.
The high tea was overpriced for what was a mediocre afternoon tea. The drinks cafe down the other end of the hotel seemed to have the same cakes. You are paying for the renovations.
C. B.
Restored to it former glory, maybe better. A stunning view down into a magnificent valley, sunrise or sunset, not to be missed. Stop and look. Easy parking. There is a good coffee shop.
P. D.
Wonderful views....pretty good rooms and food. But you go there for the views..mid week best..otherwise those views can be expensive! Breakfast..like all hotel breakfasts is expensive..but if you prefer to go out for breakfast..or for other meals..lots of choice locally..one very good one within walking distance!
S. H.
Wintergarden restraunt is well set with beautiful views of the valley. Service was perfect and food was first class.
G. E.
With spectacular views from the cliff top dining room overlooking the Megalong Valley we enjoyed the Sunday afternoon Wintergarden High Tea. Whilst the cost is above average this is made up for by the views, service and atmosphere. The jazz band and pianist added to the occasion.
J. A.
This place is really pretty and whimsical. We have been plenty of times to the cafe for a great coffee and view however went last week to the Winter garden high tea and it was just stunning.
B. H.
Our Probus Club of Coorparoo Brisbane had the pleasure of High Tea at the Hydro Majestic Hotel. From the moment we arrived the staff were efficient and bent over backwards to make our occasion a " Bucket List". We had one of our members who is allergic to seafood, and a special serving was organised for her. The High Tea was a show stopper and delicious, the surrounding and views awesome, and our guided tour through the hotel, very interesting.
H. A.
I haven't stayed at the hotel but have tried coffee from the cafe. It was alright. The views from the cafe are beautiful. There is usually plenty of parking available if you want to stop over for a coffee break.
s. h.
Our favourite place for High Tea. The food is always amazing, service impeccable, and nothing can beat that stunning view! Highly recommend this place.
J. W.
Very nice place, high tea was good! It was quiet so they started vacuuming while we were still there, we'd only been eating 1hr 15 mins. Disappointed with that
T. M.
The staff are friendly though and do try to accommodate your needs. Towels are on a shelf in the wardrobe at your room door All amenities are good but EAR PLUGS NEEDED especially if you are staying in a room overlooking the station and road. The Hydro Majestic is an ideal place for a quiet weekend, a function or small conference.
V. D.
Iconic and historic Blue Mountains venue which recently undewent a multi-million dollar refurbishment. Highlights include the Wintergarden Room, Boiler House Cafe and the retail pavilion. Overnight accommodation is comfortable but the rooms are very small with the addition of ensuites during the refurb. The morning breakfast is superb for overnight guests.
Z. M.
Great service experience and rooms! Hotel design is gorgeous, although a little more planning could of gone into the design of hallways, as navigation through the hotel was a little clunky. Room to die for- with a stunning view over the valley.
T. M.
We had planned a relaxing weekend away from Sydney at the Hydro Majestic and booked to stay in the Hargravia Valley View room. The layout of the hotel is very unusual in that it is narrow and follows the cliff face offering uninterrupted …
K. W.
I have been here for high Tea about 10 times now and it's absolutely amazing every time I go. The staff, the food and the views! The live piano is also a nice touch!
I. W.
I like the atmosphere here so just dropped in for a coffee in the main hotel section.
Did not disappoint. Views over the Megalong? Valley. Godd brekky available for guests.
P. K.
The boiler room is a lovely way to see the view, and it and the pavilion give the passer by fascinating glimpses of the history of the hydro. The boiler room menu is not the best value, but it's a good experience.
T. C.
Very nice modern food, very friendly and welcoming service. And the price is high too.
a. l.
Awesome views, enjoyed the wintergarden high tea with friends and family
A. C.
Enjoyed a beautiful dinner here for a special occasion. Decor is outstanding, food and service were outstanding.
B. W.
The service and food were good, but they need better heating in the Boiler Room restaurant - was there for a wedding and everyone was freezing.
P. O.
I worked there on the first renovation in the 90,s , we done the ballroom, cats ally , main restaurant area viewing area and the room s next too pool area , my father also stayed there during ww2 as a officer in the Royal Air Force with the Americans , before going to the pacific.
A. C.
Really enjoyed the eastern high tea. The food was great, service great. Only 2 things let it down - 1 dumpling was under cooked (which they replaced with 4 others) and it was hard to find the entrance from the car park.
S. C.
Boutique hotel style but manages to retain the historical elements of the location. Very small rooms, which is ok as you'll want to be spending your time in the various interesting hotel spaces gazing out at the amazing view.
i. g.
The view is spectacular in the main lounge & the hot chocolate & coffee is great😀
K. C.
Still very nice & flamboyant. The food was excellent but you have to search the plate to find it as with all high priced restaurants. What is it about the hospitality industry don't Australians like working in it.
j. i.
Superb new decor but sadly the area can't really be appreciated as much since the huge refurb. If the rooms, facilities and views are what they seem to promise I'd love to stay.
A. L.
An imposing and grand old hotel that makes the most of its beautiful natural surroundings with windows and outdoor spaces facing out onto the Megalong Valley. Rooms are small but well decorated and blending some of the original design of the hotel with neat and elegant modern touches. The Wintergarden restaurant has a well defined style and the service from the staff is warm and helpful.
A. H.
One of the very best high tea experiences you will have. Outstanding views in this historically beautiful hotel. Friendly and accommodating staff.
T. M.
There were no decorations in the hotel at all that I could see bar a couple of (non-premium) bonbons on the table and a piano player who wasn't contributing anything much to the ambiance. The room is so small the bed takes up the whole space. Not good value for money.
T. M.
I love the art deco and Cat Alley is a must to see. Views are fantastic and this is an icon of the Blue Mountains BUT you can't rely on just that So you park your car and struggle over gravel to get to the entrance. Make sure you do the historical tour of the property most informative and conducted perfectly by Patrick.
M. D.
The façade is a bit deceptive, but ignore that and stay for an amazing afternoon tea. Note that the tea room usually needs reservations. It's also quite warm. Staff are friendly though, and worth a stop if up in the Blue Mountains.
M.
We only ate at the cafe. The staff were great, they were happy to accommodate my dietary needs and were absolute gems. The view from the balcony outside is worth stopping for alone.
D. F.
The hotel and staff are lovely. The food was sadly disappointing but the view made up for it. The hotel has so much history and the high tea has great reviews. Will definitely be back!
