It was fabulous. So glad we discovered you. Friendly caring staff, we loved the building and all its rooms. To stay in a place 100 years old we admired every aspect of the building and acknowledged the continual work in maintaining grounds and period building. Highlights were the bar, all the spaces for relaxing, comfy chairs, mood lighting. Dinner was exceptional in flavours. Staff made sure our stay was the best it could possibly be.

I had a little high tea celebration for my baby shower and the experience was just beautiful.
The location itself was gorgeous and grand - as it was raining, we were seated inside on some couches around a beautifully set table in front of the fireplace.
The staff were so warm and welcoming and the food was lovely.
Will definitely be returning!

We adored our experience! It was mine and my wedding party's accommodation the night before my wedding, and we basically had the hotel all to ourselves, which was awesome 😀 Quentin, the concierge was very helpful, and Angela who looked after us at breakfast, was wonderfully friendly and chatty. We are excited to see this grand old dame returned back to its former glory as the renovations take place, because it truly is a very special place! Thank you for making our stay a memorable experience 😊

I was impressed by the helpful, efficient staff and the character of the building and its location. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent with great service. The cooked breakfast was also very good. The conservatory is a beautiful setting to enjoy a meal, even on a rainy morning.
I had a room with shared bathroom. Very comfortable bed. The room could be improved with provision of a towel rail, luggage rack and some hooks. The communal bathrooms are in great need of upgrading and better ventilation but were clean, apart from some mould on some wall tiles and doors. I was told that renovations are scheduled?
Regarding the bar, it was disappointing that no non-alcoholic beer or cider was available.
I was concerned that there was no "Emergency/Fire Safety Evacuation Plan" on the back of the room door. I was able to see to fire safety equipment in the hallways and the fire escape but do not know where the emergency evacuation assembly area was.

We were lucky enough to have our wedding at this stunning venue. The hotel, be it a bit older, was the perfect backdrop for our Scottish themed wedding. The grounds made for the most unbelievable photos and the old time feel made for an exceptional day. The staff were very accommodating, with Luca being the standout for us. Thank you Luca for your patience with all of us and making ours a night to remember! We were also lucky enough to have the Grand Manor Suite for all three nights. Originally only for two and then we would have to move but a last minute cancellation saw the manager grant us an upgrade at no extra charge and allowed us to stay the extra night- this was the best birthday and wedding gift we could have received! Our favourite part of the hotel is the beautifully appointed "cigar lounge" with a stunning bar and wood fireplace. If this doesn't scream "sit by the fire, relax, unwind and drink whisky" nothing will! There are parts of the hotel that would welcome an upgrade and we understand that this is on the horizon but if you are looking for an amazing, quirky and Jane Austin type feel for a getaway or a wedding look no further than The Robertson Hotel.

Absolutely fantastic food! Grand but creepy old school hotel vibe, including rusty nails sticking out of the shower taps (probably illegal, actually). Walls are very thin, so be prepared to not fall asleep easily, but the bed and room itself are very nice. Very friendly staff! Nice grounds to walk around including cute ponies and talkative geese!
D. B.
Great place, awesome staff, food was top quality. Went for a wedding and stayed 2 nights. Very comfortable bed! Has some of the problems you would expect in a senior manor house that gets a lot of rain, but makes up for it with her charm and atmosphere. Loved the experience, will be coming back to explore again!

Great location, perfectly situated for a quiet gateway. Spacious and clean room. The hotel staff were able to accommodate us at very short notice. Good restaurant, quality food and wines. Luca and team were able to cater for us and nothing was too much of an ask. Slight improvement can be made to the bed, super squeaky. We will be back for sure.

Overnight stay with friends staying in one of the family wings. Service was wonderful, Dinner and breakfast were most enjoyable. So much nostalgia in the building. Rooms are clean, beds are 5 star, Bathrooms leave a bit to be desired, But she is an old charming building, however with renovations on the way, will be happy to go back.

It has been a fantastic two nights in the country hotel! This beautiful hotel will be having a special makeover and TLC this year , my only hope is it remains in character . Dee was a great help and support to us with her professional and friendly attitude . It was quite an experience when I had to contact Quintin to put the music off in the early hours of the morning . A good one I’ll never forget. Thank you all!
G. V.
Lovely location with wonderful character, ambience and history. The service was excellent and attentive throughout the meal. The five of us present ordered four different mains between us but sadly, we were all disappointed. Sides were needed for all mains making the meals reasonably expensive as were the wines.
It was an enjoyable evening because of the company and the character of the old building but I could not recommend the food to anyone when there are so many other quality restaurants in the Southern Highlands.
P. P.
I would like to be more enthusiastic but it is run down. Having said that, it is a lovely old building and the Southern Highlands are great. A walk around the grounds is great for letting go of our daily thoughts. I can also say I would return again one day.
J. M.
This place is stunning and so full of charm and character. The staff were brilliant and the food was amazing. Very comfortable and surrounded by natural beauty, great for adventure planning during the day
D. G.
What a great experience and location. If you crave a laid back break from it all with friendly staff, this is the place for you. If you want to hold an event, such as a wedding, this is the place for you as well. Within walking distance to the local Public House and craft shops in Robertson. Or just stay within the grounds among the extensive gardens, or take a swim in the pool. Up to you really?
C. L.
Service, professionalism always consistent. We have had high tea , lunch, spring bbq for large groups and nothing was a trouble. Beautiful high tea set up, wonderful bbq platters and great traditional italian flavors with salads
E. W.
Food was amazing and great value for money. The wine selection was expensive but very enjoyable. The girls had a fabulous time and the private room was ideal. The experience and ambiance was perfect and the venue highly recommended.
M. P.
Our stay at the Robertson was amazing, beautiful location, however a difficult drive due to severe fog/weather conditions. The service was excellent. The only issue was the lack of an elevator. Overall, great place, would definitely revisit.
m.
Took my seniors group for the high tea and they absolutely loved it! the staff was so easy to work with, the hotel is gorgeous and i cannot recommend it enough. Thank you
H. G.
A unique kind of accomodation, pretty basic but a comfortable room and clean. Staff was pleasant but service in general has a lot to improve from a quality assurance point of view (not sure if it was a post Covid issue of lack of experienced staff). Very average breakfast, high tea was overrated and far from what the picture shows and written, kitchen and bar was closed in the night , not ideal when there’s hardly any place to eat in Robertson it self .
J. B.
It is a long time since I have been to this venue, and not in it's present form. The new owners have done an excellent job restoring this grand old property and although we went to a locals dinner, the place was beautifully decorated for Christmas in July. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious and far exceeded any expectations that we may have had of a simple locals night out. They are doing a great job, long may it last!

The Robertson Hotel.
Filled with old fashioned charm. Staff are friendly and always smiling and the food is superb. Very reasonably priced and not stuffy. It is a lovely experience dining at The Robertson.
K. M.
I visited my folks and we went for the BBQ lunch. It was really lovely. Not a typical bbq. Beautiful meat, vegetarian and seafood and atmosphere. Wonderful service. Also really nice the buildings history as a monestary has been preserved inside elements.
B. G.
It's been ages since I ate out and savoured every mouthful. Our lunch was superb! Thank you to the chef and staff - impeccable food and service.
M. M.
Absolutely fabulous experience.
This old building is like a grand old dame!
So charming and majestic!
I came for a Winter Christmas 🎄
Thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas Dinner and
entertainment - it is such a beautiful event!
I stayed for 2 nights and I fell in love with all the old world charm of this grand old building from a bygone era.
The staff are all so welcoming - a special thank you to Quentin for going above and beyond in making sure that all my needs were met and thank you for sharing your knowledge of the history of this beautiful old establishment.
The Christmas 🎄 decorations are elegantly styled throughout the foyer, lounge, dinning and bar area and the the grand fireplaces 🔥 in every room create a most warm, wonderful ambience.
The charming manager Luca was there the whole time ensuring that everything was perfect! Amazing place with amazing staff!
I highly recommend the Winter 🎄 Christmas experience - I will definitely be back next year
to do it all again!
Merry 🎄 Christmas

we had high tea here. the food was amazing, the tea was a great quality. The service was fantastic and the staff were friendly. I would highly recommend the high tea.

Great food,. absolutely delightful staff. professional and friendly. Feels like you are more than just a number at a table.

As a visitor to Robertson for the weekend, i looked for somewhere really nice to have dinner. The Robertson Hotel was suggested and so off we went. Wow what an experience - the Hotel itself is just incredible. Entering the restaurant i was impressed, Simple but Classy. The food was delicious, and the staff were there at a glance to take any order or request. Definitely will be back. Thank you :)

Another lovely visit to the Robertson Hotel cafe. Wonderful, friendly staff, great food, relaxing setting and ambiance. The menu offered a good selection and provides good value. Our family visiting from Sydney loved it! We are looking forward to our next visit.

Another lovely visit at The Robertson, and again staff went over and above to ensure we had everything we needed to ensure a relaxing break. Look forward to seeing the upcoming renovations.

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. The mushroom risotto was fabulous & Luca really knows his wines & how to make guests feel special!! I’m sure there will be lots of new & exciting developments with this place. With such awesome scenery & location it makes sense to make the most of it. I will definitely be back. Thank you, Lisa

A family weekend away, 5 adults and 4 kids so we stayed in the family wing with 4 bedrooms which was good - bedrooms refurbished, good bedding. Our bathroom appeared to not have been touched since the hotel was built so very old and neglected (5 year olds said"gross!"). Some of us used the communal bathrooms down the hall - old but refurbished and attractive. We have stayed at the hotel before and had a good bathroom so this one must be on the list to be refurbished but it should be done before these rooms are used for accommodation. The rest of the Hotel is lovely - stepping back in time. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. great food and good service. Very good breakfasts (but get in early as it runs out for latecomers). Beautiful grounds and a nice pool, wandering geese and a lively communal lounge and bar. Lovely in winter with open fires and room heaters but no air con so rather warm in the heat. We enjoyed our stay as a family, the children loved exploring the Hotel and using the garden areas.

We were 9 adults and 4 kids and
We were there for 3 days and paid a little extra for the breakfast and it was well worth it.the food was so nice.
The chef has a true passion for cooking and serving with love.
The hotel manager is a very nice man,so helpful.
The girl serving the breakfast is so calm and patient..
Nathaniel on the front desk was also so nice..
From the day we arrived the whole staff tried their very best to accommodate us in every possible way. The dinner was great. The rooms , the bathroom everything is just perfect a little old but a true experience.. we are definately coming back.

The hotel and surrounding garden made me travel in time back to Europe. The garden is magical and very well-kept! The service was exquisite and the food delicious. The chef is Italian and the menu has an Italian touch (I truly recommend the seafood homemade pasta). They also have a varied wine menu and the cocktails were outstanding!!
We will definitely come back!!!

Sunday Easter lunch was booked in at the cafe on short notice and what a wonderful experience this turned out to be!!
Not only were we blown away by the age and beautiful of this beautiful 1920’s hotel but also the hospitality of its staff.
We would like to specially mention Luca who made our lunch experience so wonderful.
Looking forward to booking a stay at the hotel in the very near future and hopefully enjoying another wonderful meal 👍😊

It was an absolute delight to share with my family the Mother’s Day High Tea. The table settings looked so lovely and the high tea menu was delicious with a wonderful selection of both sweet and savoury. My daughter was especially delighted to be greeted by your resident duck dressed for the occasion with his dapper bow tie. Would definitely recommend and will be looking forward to our next visit to your lovely venue. Thank you
L. T.
A lot of good. The bar is lovely, fantastic breakfasts, and the decor in the public areas is perfect for photos. Downsides...bathrooms are really outdated, and the whole place could use a solid clean. Dust everywhere on chandeliers etc. Staff were generally good, but expressed no interest when we mentioned our toilet cistern was leaking, and nothing was done about it. A few touches like fridges in the rooms would be good. Comfortable beds, and reasonably quiet at night.
G. H.
Great 5 star meals complimented by exceptional service from the very friendly, courteous and professional staff. Thanks for a great night.
J. V.
We just had our wedding here and we couldn’t of had a better day. It was picture perfect and all our guests loved the hotel. Staff are lovely and the food was delicious. It also came at a great price! I would definitely recommend the Robertson if your looking at having you wedding.
E. S.
Simple, old-worldly hotel. Very simple and basic, but lots of charm and character. Although old, the bathroom could use a good scrub with some bleach. Bed was comfy. Surrounding grounds are lovely to explore and have a drink in on the evening. We had issues in the restaurant with receiving our main meal without the advertised sides and randomly replaced with 1.5 grilled tomatoes :-/ We received some extra random vegetables as a make good, but would have preferred a discount on the $42 main!

My husband and I held our wedding day at the Robertson Hotel and hand to heart it was an absolute fairytale. Kaity and the team at Robertson were so accommodating, the food was amazing the rooms were gorgeous and not only was it a perfect and beautiful wedding venue, but the Robertson Hotel provided the intimate setting of our guests being able to stay the night, creating a weekend full of memories for all of us. We had a black-tie winter wedding, and the atmosphere was cosy and glamourous with the amazing fireplaces, chandeliers and stunning gardens and grounds. A big thank you to the staff for looking after us!
M. J.
Charm of yesteryear and plenty of character. I found it the perfect base from which to explore the Southern Highlands. Shared bathrooms could use some updating, and parking can be tricky, but those niggles aside I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Room was comfortable and quiet, plenty of food options with cafe, lounge, bar and restaurant, staff friendly and professional. Bonus entertainment from the resident ducks!
P. P.
We were here for our honeymoon 30 years ago around this time (then called Ranlagh house) and this time we wanted to experience the magic here again and we were not disappointed. I'm glad the decor hasn't changed much (improvements and finishes were great) and the look and feel reminiscent of the time the beautiful place was built. The staff were friendly and helpful and made the stay memorable, again. Looking forward to visiting again sometime in the future.

The Robertson Hotel is sensational!
My daughter had her wedding & reception here after finding out 3 days before her big day the first venue had double booked for both the wedding & the reception.
The Robertson Hotel was contacted & they had free spots on the Saturday for both & took on the job.
I have nothing but praise for Kaity the hotels coordinator who managed to put on a wonderful event with such short notice (3 days).
Great food & plenty of it.
The staff are great.
Everything went to plan & grounds are absolutely beautiful for the wedding photos.
We also loved Uno the duck 🦆 who was walking around with a bow tie greeting all the guests as they arrived.
Thankyou so much for a wonderful day & reception.
I'm would recommend The Robertson Hotel to everyone!

It is a beautiful place to make memories.
Nathaniel welcomed us with warm heart.
Luca made us feel comfortable and welcomed.with his enthusiasm.
Josephine was great and served us breakfast with beautiful smile.
Chef cooked beautifully with his heart and presentation was awesome.
Robertson hotel is an excellent place.

We stayed for the Australia Day long weekend, lovely old world hotel, flowering gardens, bonus of a pool. The hotel is currently being renovated little by little Our room was huge - King Deluxe - located on the 2nd floor. Original bathroom so was very old. Staff were friendly and helpful, although not enough staff on. Food in cafe and dining room was excellent.
Hotel is not airconditioned so was quiet hot during early morning and late afternoon - heatwave conditions. Fans would be good.
L. D.
A wonderful afternoon at the Robertson Hotel for high tea. Was the perfect day for an open fire, glass of bubbly and a decadent three tier array of savoury and sweet delights. Having been a visitor in the Ranleagh House days it was great to see the house restored and is now even more warm and welcoming. The staff were fantastic and we will definately make this a regular coffee stop.
N. M.
A lovely historic hotel. The public areas are great, and the rooms very spacious, but the bathroom is a major letdown. When paying $200 a night you don't expect a shower curtain, nor a toilet that does not flush properly. You also could reasonably expect a hairdryer, and even basic space for your toiletries. We would have preferred to have been told that the dining room was not open, and breakfast was average at best. Even the most basic properties have tea and coffee facilities. Overall a lovely building, but don't expect the accommodation itself to be great.
G. T.
Stopped in to enjoy a hearty breakfast.
Wasn't disappointed.
The surrounding gardens are beautifully maintained and so inviting.
The grand entry to the Hotel is truly intoxicating. I was greeted by well dressed Staff who were well versed in COVID19 regulations & procedures which made me feel extremely confident & comfortable.
The grand decor and plush furnishings takes you back to the early 1920's. Comfortable seating & reading lounge chairs beckons you to sit and relax and take in the peaceful and tranquil views and ambience of both the garden and interior. I enjoyed eating my breakfast in the Library room overlooking the garden. Coffee was hot and breakfast was delicious and very reasonably priced. I wished I had time to stay for the weekend.
This is going to happen in the next quarter.
I would highly recommend anyone be it a couple or a family group to make a stop over and stay a night or two. It's close to surounding tourist attractions.
Enjoy.

What a beautiful place to stay. Went only for one night for our 34th wedding anniversary. A beautiful, old hotel, still with original features. Magnificent grounds. Food was absolutely delicious. (especially the mushroom enter). Staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Loved our stay. Thank you so much.
S. H.
Christmas in July was very well done. The place looks great, the service was enthusiastic and the harp player was a standout. Piping in Santa was a first and great fun
E. K.
We returned for our six year wedding anniversary and had dinner in the Grand Dining Room with our two little girls.
The ambiance was lovely and dinner was scrumptious.
Looking forward to going back 😊
T. R.
Lovely old world style hotel surrounded by lush leafy garden.
Breakfast is very generous and the 2 morning staff serving it are super friendly.
My area for improvement would be in the evening where the staff are not welcoming or friendly. Not sure of it was personality or the workload but the lady that checked us in was very off and disinterested.
Later when getting a drink in the bar she was the same.
At no point did she say hello or welcome or even smile.
S. M.
Stepped back in time for a High Tea to celebrate my friend’s 50th. The food, all home made by the resident Italian chef Danella.... who came and introduced himself. Food was amazing. My friend has high teaed around the world and said it was the best high tea she has ever had.
We did our very best to eliminate the 3 tiers of sweet and savoury delicacies. A large selection of tea and a beautiful bottle of SA Prosecco, went down a treat. The staff were friendly and very obliging. We shall return!!
C. B.
My husband and I just spent a lovely weekend at the Robertson Hotel. We had a lovely Devonshire tea, delicious dinner at the restaurant and a great breakfast included. Our room was beautiful, spacious, bright and clean. The stay was majorly let down by the bathroom though. We were surprised to see that the toilet was located essentially IN the shower, separated by a shower curtain. But very disappointed to find that the shower was not working. After reporting the issue three times we were told that nothing could be done, and we would have to use the shared bathroom on another floor. Disappointing to say the least when we had paid extra for a King Deluxe room with bathroom.
B. S.
My wife and I had our wedding (ceremony and reception) at the Robertson Hotel two weeks ago. We were absolutely thrilled with how the whole day went - the venue, service, food and accommodation were all impeccable, and all our guests had an amazing time. We would highly recommend Kaity (wedding manager) and the Robertson Hotel to anyone looking for a wedding venue in the Southern Highlands!
K. C.
We were lucky enough to stay here in a quiet time. The staff were lovely, we felt very welcomed and comfortable. Great to stay somewhere friendly.
L. G.
We had a terrific stay at the Robertson Hotel. The staff were lovely, the room was clean and very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. The surrounding grounds and gardens are stunning... our young kids loved exploring, and swimming in the pool.
M. o.
Such a beautiful hotel — felt like stepping into a time machine. Friendly staff, the guy at reception was very professional and helpful. The ducks and other animals were very cute. The breakfast was a bit slow. All in all, I would recommend this hotel.
G. B.
Luca made the entire lunch and after lunch experience memorable.
The Chef even went off menu as it was a birthday celebration. The ambience with fireplaces and the Xmas in July celebration was just great.
K. Z.
What a beautiful hidden gem in the Southern Highlands. Customer service was excellent and waiting staff were excellent to deal with. Everyone was extremely impressed with how the tables and chairs were set to the social distancing regulations and the high tea menu was superb!
D. P.
Fabulous stay for six of us for dinner, sleepover and breakfast.
It was obvious the hotel is in transistion with attention needed but you are all working on getting the issues sorted. For us everything from the friendly welcome at reception, the delicious dinner and delightful breakfast in that fantastic sunroom was appreciated.
No tea making facility in room was missed and was a fuss to get a cuppa.
Bathrooms are clean and awaiting renovation but I did like the original concrete cistern and pull chain. Comfortable bed with good linen.
Chesterfield lounge by open fire is great place for a drink before dinner.
The grandeur of the hotel brings immediate respect for it's exceptional architecture and you feel grand moving through it's hallways and majestic stairways.
I look forward to future stays.
V. M.
Such a lovely hotel with great staff. Set in picturesque gardens so provides nice walks as well as goid food and comfortable accommodation. Will certainly go back.
A. P.
Beautiful heritage building set in glorious Southern Highland setting. Maintained to reflect the history of the building. Just visited, did not stay in the hotel but thoroughly enjoyed the excellent service from the cafe, coffee and delicious cakes in front of a log fire. Loved the tame ducks and geese roaming around too!
M. E.
The Hotel and the surroundings are dreamy, feels like you are in a movie. All the staff is very professional and helpful from the front desk to the waiters. Couldn't spend a more beautiful weekend the first night as a husband and wife.
C. H.
As always a great spot to do some work in the quiet lounge, have coffee and cake or lunch in the Cafe, oh and the rooms are very comfy, beds are great. our favourite hotel in the area.
S. D.
Beautiful hotel, loved the old feel to it. Beautiful garden.Stayed in the King room on the 23rd and the 24th of November. Dinner was absolutely delicious. We had the crumbed mushrooms, Aranchini, Barra and the eye fillet, big shout out to the chef. Service was great. Cannot wait to revisit and stay at the Grand Manor.
F. V. (.
Stayed in the King Deluxe room. Very stylish and spacious room with an oldish, but quite authentic bathroom. Although the bathroom met our needs, it most certainly could be updated a bit and the toilet should be moved away from the shower area - there is space. The view from the room was very nice, looking out into the garden. Very comfortable bed, though it is extremely squeaky and wobbly and probably needs tightening up.
Would have loved room service, or a mini bar, or at the very least tea or coffee making facility in the room with some cookies and perhaps sparkling water provided gratis. Considering the cost of over $400 per night including breakfast, it really needs to add a little bit more in this way.
A lovely old building. Loved the sitting rooms with lit fireplaces. Great to lounge around, chill, have a drink and chat. The staff were all wonderful and did their best to look after us. Dining was nice with pretty good food and a nice dining room.
The grounds were well kept and pretty.
Overall had a very nice time there. Definitely worth the visit.

We stayed at the Robertson over the Easter weekend, the accomodation has a remarkable history.
Given it’s almost 100 years old, don’t have high expectations of a balcony, ensuite bathroom or air conditioning. This accomodation is not modern with the swanky Crown Resort facilities, so appreciate the history it holds, try not to be precious and be grateful to share this unique experience with a loved one.
I was highly impressed by the office manager on duty - Quinton . he demonstrated strong customers relationship skills which is pivotal in the hospitality & accomodation sector. Luca who was also the staff member on duty was exceptional and went above and beyond for my requests.
I highly recommend this venue if you’re travelling down south and please ensure to dine at their restaurant, it’s impeccable !
K. H.
What a cute place! The service was outstanding and the overall feel of the building was warm and welcoming. Don't expect a 4 star experience with the bathrooms but that would be my only negative takeaway.
V. C.
We stopped in here looking for lunch and were pleasantly surprised to find the beautiful garden and quaint cafe inside. A lovely, warm fireplace and jazz music made for a relaxing atmosphere. Staff were very accommodating. Very satisfied with the food.
A. M.
The Robertson hotel Christmas lunch was just so delicious and the atmosphere was excellent great service. We all enjoyed the day.
J. H.
What a find! A country hotel just like the olden days. Minor drawbacks such as no lift or in room fridge are more than made up for by the wonderful staff who bend over backwards to ensure your stay is a great experience.
G. L.
In providing a review for the Robertson Hotel, I find myself truly conflicted. You see, I really dislike the antique bathrooms with their old fittings, peeling paint and original water pressure (little). This said, I adore everything else about the place, especially the general ambience of yesteryear. The staff made us incredibly welcome, were proactive and attentive. The dinner here was superb. The breakfast excellent. Our room was warm even though we could hear the cold wind whistling beyond the windows. So the experience staying there was generally marvelous. As a result I rate the Robertson Hotel 5 stars despite the bathrooms - definitely coming back!.
D. G.
Attended Wine dinner, did not stay on this occasion but would definitely return another tie. The event was amazing including wine ,food, service. Just fantastic.
G. S.
This place is an experience. I stayed here 45 years ago, and stayed again last weekend. It hasn't changed.... but that's a good thing. This is 1920's style grand. Staff are friendly and food is good. I would definitely revisit this hotel.
R. S.
Michael and I had our wedding at the Robertson Hotel this year and we could not have imagined a more perfect day! The staff at the venue were amazing, all guests complimented the food, the venue itself was stunning and we highly recommend the Robertson Hotel! It was a dream day!
C. P.
We recently celebrated our wedding on 4/5/19 at the Robertson Hotel, and it was everything we had dreamed of. The staff were fantastic, food and wine was exquisite and the venue itself was 5 star. The beds are massive and extremely comfortable, and the breakfast which was included for us and all our guests was delicious. They really looked after us and met our every request. We will be going back time and time again to enjoy the ambiance of this beautiful venue. Thank you to Kaity, Megan and all of the staff for making our day perfect.
J. B.
Beautiful lunch in an amazing location. Highly recommend stopping here.
B. E.
EXCELLENT hotel - the staff was really professional and friendly. The atmosphere is relaxing and romantic. The building is beautiful - wish we could have stayed longer. We'll definitely be back! Thank you :)
S. B.
The Robertson Hotel was the most amazing venue for our wedding! From having the whole place exclusively for our guests, to the beautiful gardens and amazing service. All of our guests raved about how great the food was and how smoothly the wedding went to plan! Highly recommend!!
E. C.
We had our wedding here and it was absolutely fantastic! The staff (especially Kaity and Megan) were super helpful and solved any problem that arose. The food was fantastic, service sensational and accommodation spot on. All of our guests commented on the beauty of the hotel and the food! We couldn’t have asked for a better venue if we tried!
S. F.
Always have an excellent time staying here - the perfect place to get away from it all. Very relaxing, excellent and comfortable facilities and staff are excellent and friendly whilst not being intrusive. Beautiful old art deco vibes hidden away amongst the highlands yet excellent convenient location. Food wonderful too. Will be back!
L. J.
Such a beautiful hotel, staff were incredibly accommodating (nothing was a problem), and well situated to explore the Southern Highlands. We stayed 2 nights, and would recommend a 2 -3 night stay to appreciate the hotels beauty and surrounding areas.
Y. B.
I would give the hotel 3 stars. The ambience reminds me of the 1920s, however charm the is only good thing. We had a nice time but the hotel lacked attention to detail. The hotel is a little outdated and needs some repairs. The staff were really nice and helpful. We struggled to sleep when we were staying there as another guest was drunk and throwing up somewhere in the corridor (not a pleasant experience for myself and my husband). The breakfast was cold and not the best quility. I could deal with all of that but the drunk guy screaming and puking kind of put a damper on our night. Not sure if we will be back. The fireplace was really nice and we liked that as said before it carries a certain amount of charm, but needs an upgrade.
D. M.
Best Christmas ever. Staff were amazing. Beautiful building.
J. W.
Really lovely dinner in the restaurant. Salmon and chicken for main. The dessert was even better. Choc brownie with choc sauce and sticky date put with syrup sauce. So nice we just dove in and didn't have time to take a pic. Toasted almonds on the brownie were the best too.
X. T.
Absolutely beautiful! The staff are so friendly and nice, such a grand yet homely feeling. The cafe is delightful and there is so many interesting and lovely things to look at!
Will definitely be telling a few people and be heading back!
G. -.
Excellent hotel. Heritage feel. Wonderful food in cafe and restaurant. Best was the exemplary staff, very professional, very personable, you could feel that they enjoyed being there. Totally recommend the hotel.
A. B.
The Robertson Hotel is such a beautiful venue. We had our wedding on the top lawn which was just picturesque. The food was fantastic and Kaity the events manager was so professional, friendly and organsied. She did an amazing job ensuring that the wedding went as smoothly as possible. Five Stars

I attended my grandparents 50th Wedding Anniversary at The Robertson Hotel.
I must say that it is the most beautiful hotel that I have ever stayed in.
The gardens look like they belong among the pages of National Geographic and the history behind this property made it all the more magical.
The staff were amazing! They have a great team of professionals working together seamlessly and that was with a very recent change of ownership.
I cannot praise them enough, they were so attentive and so generous with their time and they were happy to organise anything we wanted or needed, even when it was not in their job description they still went above and beyond to make sure we were all looked after.
It really was a very special weekend and one I will never forget thanks to the amazing team.

Just MC'ed a wedding there and stayed the night. How awesome were the large rooms old with great character. Manager for the night was great. Always available, friendly and was on to requests straight away. Serving/bar staff friendly, helpful and things just seemed to magical happen which is a real skill. If they are half as good for you you will love it. Food awesome.🤣

The Robertson Hotel is in a picturesque highlands town with plenty of clean air, friendly locals and spectacular rolling hills. The hotel itself seems to be a hertiage style building with three or so floors. The cheapest rooms are small however still contain a large (maybe king size?) bed. The bathrooms are generally shared and due to their age are large but somewhat uncomfortable to use. If anything I'd say they were the low point of my visit. I attended for a wedding and the sunroom, dining room and ballroom were all exceptional for the purpose and I can only imagine also superb for standard use.

Nice period style hotel, nice location. No air con. The windows in our room did not open. No tea making facilities in the room, available at a station on the landing. You pay for the atmosphere. Staff extremely lovely.

Excellent service from staff. Old facilities very basic being gradually updated tastefully. Could do with a lift for elderly guests. Terrific swimming pool and great breakfast included. Ventilation in some rooms could be improved. Evening meal at $60 for 3 courses was terrific with attentive service by Brooke & Sandra. Best feature was the outstanding location with magnificent garden. Most enjoyable overnight stay.

If you're looking for a uppity high class hotel this probably isn't for you. The bathrooms are communal on some floors and only a few rooms have an ensuite.
Communal bathrooms are cold as they don't have heaters inside. But the place does have a homey vibe.
Highlight is the fire place with free marshmallows to toast with.
The staff are friendly and are very accommodating and very patient with drunk guests.
The breakfast had variety but keeping the food warm was difficult and you could end up with soggy tomatoes and dried up bacon if you wake up later.
Parking is also difficult as it has a small space to drive in. Most are parallel parking

Did not stay here went for dinner here food was amazing staff lovely

Do yourself a favour and spend a night or two at the majestic Robertson Hotel which was once considered the most luxurious hotel in the Commonwealth. My friends and I were given a very warm greeting by Peter and loved hearing about the history of the building. From the open fire places, stained glass windows, spectacular chandeliers and gorgeous furniture throughout (including super comfy beds) this is an experience not to be missed. The cooked breakfast the next morning was delicious and the grounds are gorgeous to walk through including the pool, guinea fowl, wombat, hens and statue of Mary.

Couldn't fault it. Lovely staff, great heritage room, and the fire places were making it feel warm and cosy. Probably just needed a bit of an air freshener in the shared bathroom to take away a bit of the smell. Highly recommended though, excellent value with yummy cooked breakfast included.

Avoid staying in Winter, otherwise a wonderful place. Fabulous old building and gardens. So much history and atmosphere. Even in Autumn and Spring it will be cold at night. Bath robes a must for separate bathrooms. Shower in the daytime. Remember it was once a Franciscan Monk's Seminary and Retreat. The solution: take your own heater , e.g. an oscillating heater for your bedroom. The fire in the lounge room is huge. You will need a woolen jumper, even occasionally in Summer, which is the best time to stay. A high altitude. Can snow in Winter.
I adore the ancient enormous trees, the magnificent views, the large sunny windows in the Lounge. The spooky railway platform in the mist. The Devon-shire teas still use hot silver teapots I hope. The window of St. Francis on the staircase and the Grotto in the garden are inspirational. The mirrored ballroom with chandeliers. The whole place still has beautiful feeling. Great for a conference or group seminar. Like stepping back in time. Be prepared for a different experience and you will love it. We still remember the three-day seminars we used to organize for there. It felt like a whole week of renewal. Wonderful memories of the older name, Ranelagh House, are special part of my life.

We enjoyed our meal at your hotel. Pleasant atmosphere, good social distancing. Have already recommended a visit to a few people.

I photographed a wedding here a month ago and loved the place. the grounds are stunning, the food was lovely and the staff were incredible, they were so friendly and accomodating. Highly recommend for a weekend get away or a wedding!

Not very clean, food left on seats/floor in the lounge. Mixed reviews on food, Ribs were good but the Schnitzel was quite flavourless
C. C.
Beautiful house! Very friendly staff!. Its not a super posh hotel but its elegant and very welcoming feel to the whole manor!!. Now I found it, this will be the first stay of many to come!! Really loved it!

This place does the absolute best meals ever. I came for christmas in july, absolutely delicious! Definitely recommend visting.

Just outside robertson's main town area, the hotel was very quiet at night. Like the rest of the interior, the dining hall was nicely decorated. Staff were courteous and attentive. Servings were reasonably portioned and priced

The Robertson Hotel, formerly and originally known as Ranleagh House, is a hidden gem in the Southern Highlands. Built in 1924 and located in the village of Robertson; this gorgeous hotel has had many faces (including being a monastery in the 60's) and gathered alot of history, all the while still gathering a character and personality of it's own. It operate's as a Hotel currently from Thursday to Sunday (check-out day Sunday for hotel guests, Mondays and Tuesdays are closed to all public) aswell as a local place to dine for lunch and dinner Thursday to Saturday. It is definately worth stopping in for Devonshire tea, Lunch, a stroll through the sprawling Gardens, or a trip down memory lane if you're not checking in as a hotel guest overnight. It is set upon acres of land with a broad range of flora and fauna, aswell as farmyard animals for kids of all ages to enjoy including chickens, ducks, shetland ponies, & alpacas.
Keep in mind this isnt the Hilton or the Shangri-La; The Robertson Hotel makes no apologies for its period charm and antique yet upkept and intouch furnishings, 5 open original fireplaces, multiple groundfloor rooms operating from breakfast and dining rooms to ballrooms and loungerooms, and 70+ rooms for overnight and weekend stays.
Whether you're visiting for the day or staying for a night or two, The Robertson Hotel is a memorable and a Must Have experience.

After decades of up and down fortunes, the property seems to be on track to be restored to its full potential. It will take many more years of investment - but it's well on the way. Classic Southern Highlands old world grandeur coming back from it's very faded elegance.

We stayed here for New Year’s Eve ! This is one of the prettiest hotels I have stayed at in a while ! Nature , warm county hospitality, delicious breakfast and they had a fabulous party with a DJ organised for hotel guest on the 31st ! Thanks to Megan, Darren and the team . We are in the process of booking our next stay as we have family visiting us from overseas and we would love them to experience a different era !
R. S.
The grandeur of a bygone era located in a majestic and beautiful location warrants a 10 star rating. The accommodation warrants a 2 at most, rickety old rooms with 1920's plumbing. The friendly staff and hearty breakfast are a 5 out of 5. It's important to make these distinctions because this place does not fit the mould of a conventional hotel.
We've been visiting periodically for 40 years when it was Ranelagh House, and there's always been talk of investor money being poured in to modernise it. If that happened, everyone would want to stay here and it would be triple the price. Do yourself a favour, go here at least once and try to look through the shortfalls and let your imagination take you to a bygone era.
While the hotel has no attractions or activities as such, the district has a lot on offer, enough to fill up a few weekends. Go and discover.

At our age a lift would have been appreciated.

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel. The staff are very friendly helpful and nice. The rooms are spotless and simply decorated. This is a Heritage listed property so it does not have a lift and air conditioned rooms their was also no power plugs in our en-suite. But in exchange you get classic beauty and comfort.
G. W.
High tea very overpriced for what you receive.
Lovely setting in the lounge room in front of the fire.
A Suggestion would be to get the scones jam, cream and tea for $15. Scones were nice.
