The kitchen is good just a little bit small. The Village Surry Hills need more housekeeping staff because the girl was alone working 😢 The place is safe and quiet. It is ok for the price
s.Decently cheap, cute atmosphere very cozy looking. Minimal human contact while checking in and out.
Close to CBD and visible from street so wasnt hard to find.
Room had no towels, air con wasnt working and the next morning, the place smelt like marijuana was being smoked from the window.
Good for a one night stay at a decent price, but not sure if id stay longer than necessary. 3/5 stars from me. You get what you pay for, literally.

M. B.Good hostel with a great location. Clean rooms and everything but the only thing that lets it down is the people that are staying there. Kitchen was always a complete dump because no one would wash up. There's was 3 forks in the whole kitchen and the bathrooms were always left in such a state. Would be a good hostel but the others staying let it down
J. T.Alright for the price. Room & bathroom was pretty good. The kitchen was chaos. Not enough fridge space we're cooking space for the amount of people.
The place could be much cleaner. The staff are making an effort but a lot of the people staying there are working against them.
Staff should be much more strict and people should do their part and clean up after themselves.
F. H.The location is perfect it's so close to the central station and a very nice and huge park is directly on the opposite side of the road. Everyone who's working there is very friendly and helped me a lot. The rooms are getting cleaned every day so it was always very clean! The receptionist Ridd is the best btw she was always there for me and will help everyone!! I made so many friends in this hostel and it was definitely really nice to stay here. And I know what I am talking about cause I stayed quiet long (5 months). cheers francieeee
J. A.One of the dirtier hostels I've stayed in. Stayed in a twin private room with shared bathroom, but the bathroom was just one room with one toilet and shower for everyone on the floor. Also you couldn't lift the toilet seat, so you know how that looked like after a busy day. The kitchen was cleaned in the morning, but it doesn't take long for it to be filthy again. Wouldn't stay here again.
b.Hostel pricing is on the cheaper side of the usual but in a nice area. The hostel rooms are tiny and there's hardly any room to store your luggage let alone get to your bed. The toilets / showers are fine though.. but they're on a timer so make sure you press it in before you get in else you're in the dark. Hostel I'd say isn't a very social one if youre travelling by yourself. 4* for cleanliness, service and air con.
H. Y.it's a very good backpackers for the older person travelling on a budget if you obey the golden rule and stay in smaller dorms. Which in this case are literally only a couple of dollars more than the larger ones. And the four bed dorms are recently refurbished with contemporary surfaces and fittings, or at least the one I stayed in was, as well as a bar fridge, which is pretty good for a backpackers. A bit rowdy as pretty much all backpackers in Sydney are party hostels, but at least at this one, the party maniacs respected the 11pm curfew on Saturday and stopped laughing and screeching on the dot of 11, pretty much and took their revelling to the pubs and clubs. Customer service was very good too, nice, friendly staff.

Kitchen is ok, good equipment but not that clean. They make you buy useless bags for the fridge or they throw out your food. Ridiculous.

L. R.You definitely shouldn't expect much when you're paying roughly $20 AUD, but there were certain aspects of the place that were a let down. My sheets had a lot of dried blood on them, which I kinda get. It happens a lot, but they could have been bleached at least. Bathrooms were also a bit grim. Compared to some other hostels of this price range, it was definitely dirtier. With that said, the desk staff were quite friendly. So I would never say I regretted going here. And no weird insects either.
S. O.Overall pretty clean. The staff was rather friendly. It was weird that they closed all open areas at 10pm or midnight. With shared rooms you don’t have a place to hang out with people or be on the computer. Internet was slow and not working in the room. Would be nice to fix the doors and lights in the bathrooms. Could do much better!
k. s.Good place with vintage look. Great for backpackers. Kitchen available. Short walk from nearest metro station. Check in and check out was easy and hassle free. Maddie at the reception was very sweet and answered all my questions about getting around in Sydney. Luggage storage area available. Free wifi. Refrigerator available in each room.

A whole bunch of us were up in Sydney for a conference and these guys were really accommodating with our all over the place check ins and check outs, had great communal areas to hang out in and generally let us do our own thing! Really central to buses and USyd - would recommend for any large group!
A. H.Kitchen is awfully dirty even if housekeepers come twice a day. Overall pretty clean. Rooms are ok. No elevator so hard to get to the 3rd floor with a big suitcase. Not too noisy. Well located. You have to buy from them a bag to go on the fridges. Very stupid. Only 2 or 3 plates and mug for the whole backpack ...
c.Hostel's location is good, which has become my favourite place to stay whenever I visit the city. It's less than 1km away from central train station - away from the most of the trafic near a park. Beds are very comfortable. The room where I stayed was fairly big but there were no shelves or anything where you could put your stuff on, so all people's gear was basicly all over the place. Staff are always friendly. I got nothing much to complain about the hostel. Only "big" minus is that there's no freezers... Also the price as this hostel is the most expensive where I've been but prices are probably high everywhere in Sydney's CBD area.
After all, I recommend this place for sure.
K. S.Best hostel I've ever stayed in! Really comfortable beds, clean and tidy kitchens and bathrooms throughout my stay, plus the rooms have air con so you can keep nice and cool in the summer months. Great showers, free breakfast and situated in a lovely area - this is a quiet place and not a party hostel at all but it's an easy 5 minute walk across the park to Central station for bars and restaurants or Glebe is a 10 minute walk away. Will definitely stay here again :)
B. S.The Village is a backpackers in Sydney extremely centrally located in the heart of Sydney. It is about a 15 minute walk to Central Train station. There is a park across the road with open fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, the works! The Backpackers itseld is just as you would expect for the price. I was in a 4 person dorm with private bathroom and I would probably recommend that over anything with more people. Staff were friendly when I spoke to them too.

L. A.I stayed at VLA for 7 months.. A long time, I know. It was not expected but I fell in love with Sydney and with VLA. The location was perfect, close to the city but not too close so it's rammed.
Alfred park is just in front. The view of the city is better than what it looks like in pictures. You can sit on he benches at the top of the hill.
Central station is a 5 minute walk away.
The beds were comfy but squeaky. Bathrooms were cleaned every day. Rooms were cleaned regularly. Breakfast was standard toast, coffee, cereal ect. The cleaner Won was hilarious but very hard working. Harry (the owner) is a really down to earth guy and very reasonable.
All in all, it was a perfect little hostel that felt like home in then end.
If I come back to Australia, I will be going back there!
E. B.The hostel was really nice, the bathroom we had looked brand new, nice staff that was helpful as well as good kitchen, nice eating area and TV room. We had some loud guests but that can't be helped.

J. K.As far as I can tell there are 2 different parts to the village in 2 buildings. Staying in the newer one, nicely sized rooms, en suite shower and toilet. Free breakfast in the mornings and nice clean and big kitchen.

c. s.(Translated) The internet just does not go to the 3rd floor, I'm in room 41 and when I go up the stairs the signal gets lost which is very frustrating since it's supposed to be included. The soundproofing is really not good. In the kitchen, it lacks equipment (ustenciles, cups, bowls), the knives are not faded so do not cut, it lacks storage space and fridge and often there is no more dish soap . Aside from all that, my stay is nice, the staff is great and the bathrooms are clean.

L'internet ne se rend tout simplement pas au 3e étage, Je suis dans la chambre 41 et lorsque je montes les escaliers le signal se perd ce qui est très frustrant étant donné que c'est supposé être inclus. L'insonorisation n'est vraiment pas bonne. Dans la cuisine, il manque d'équipement(ustenciles, tasses, bols), les couteaux ne sont pas éguisé donc ne coupent pas, il manque d'espace de rangement et de frigo et souvent il n'y a plus de savon à vaisselle. Mis à part tout ça, mon séjour est agréable, le personnel est super et les salles de bain sont propre.

Jak na wiele obiektów, które widziałem w Sydney, obiekt wyróżnia się pozytywnie na tle konkurencji. Jest czysto, w pokojach klimatyzacja, łazienki ok. Internet z dziennym limitem jest darmowy (0,5Gb). Bardzo dobra lokalizacja, stacja kolejowa Central kilka minut na pieszo. Przed hostelem jest park i ładny widok na city. Stosunek ceny do jakości w porównaniu do konkurencji bardzo dobry.
