There are plenty of dessert places at Southbank, but this is the place to be for ice cream and waffles. Their freshly made waffle always smells so good from a distance, making it impossible not to walk into the store. Their Jamaican chocolate & the Cappuccino ice cream with the warm classic waffle are simply the perfect combination. We definitely will be back to try other waffle and ice cream flavours at Gelare.

Delicious!!!! Best waffle ever! We ordered the lotus biscoff croffle, ferraro rocher waffle, iced black and a cookies and cream frappe. Great service and amazing food. Would highly recommend!

I quite enjoyed the gelare waffle batter. Along with their ice cream selection makes this an indulgent post-dinner treat. I appreciate a place that specialises in one thing, and they very much do waffles well. Worth a try if you are a waffle fan.

First visit to Gelare Southbank. Neat and tidy very well presented. Covid safe check in on entry. A large selection of waffles and pancakes as well as coffee. Staff very polite and friendly. Nice and fast turn around on food and coffee. Had the waffle breakfast and Banana Nutella pancakes. Priced very well. Would not hesitate to visit again.

a nice spacious area to have dessert!!! quite nice staff~ spacious seating area in the line of south bank restaurants, gelare is one of the shops near the end of the line so it’s more quiet~ ordered a small strawberries and cream waffle and a hot fudge basket~ both alright for their price~ strawberries were quite fresh, asked for extra cream but i don’t think they remembered but that’s alright~ waffle was beautifullll!!! such a airy and delicious waffle~ i personally like more softer waffles so if you like crisper waffles possibly ask them to cook it a tad longer?~ hot fudge basket was yummmyyyy!! waffle is freshly made or at least freshly made today because it was nice and crisp!!! overall a lovely experience~!

Very lovely staff. Beautifully presented, the freshness off all the products combined are to die for. I paid $18.40 (custom made). The price is on the higher side but worth it for a cheat day treat. I will be coming again!.

I thought their breakfast and ice cream was of a pretty good quality. The funny part about my visit was accidentally scaring the staff member by pointing out a lizard that died in among the ice cream section. The waffles and pancakes were pretty good quality. They also have quite a nice range of ice cream to choose from but it is rather small portions and quite expensive compared to other places I have been to, I do like the shape of them though, a little different but still not the best value for money out there.

Fairly expensive for the small servings - definitely much smaller than other places. Attached photos are of 2 scoops in a cup. Compare the size of the small spoon to the size of the cup. On a positive note, they do have a significant organic vegan selection.

Underrated and a hidden gem in South Bank, shakes are thick and tasty, waffles are hot and chewy gooey. Pricing is fair and staff are amazing, I hope people would come here and try the desserts they offer, it's comforting and good.

Not so great. Pricy, small serving size. Tried the sundae and there was only 1 small scoop of ice cream. They filled the bottom of the glass with whipped cream. The cream also didn’t taste fresh. They do have a range of flavours for ice cream including matcha.

One night we wanted something cold and refreshing for dessert and ended up here in a queue. Despite the busy-ness they indulged me with my custom made sundae in a waffle basket with strawberry sauce and a cherry on top, which I really appreciated. Good range of ice cream flavours and a few sorbets too. I saw on a sign that they serve breakfast as well.

We visited this gelato bar numerous times over our weekend stay in Brisbane. Each time, we were welcomed, accommodated, and enjoyed our experience and delicious desserts! Jake was exceptional and assisted us with a welcoming greeting and friendly smile. (Some of our bizarre needs included bandaids, and a dessert of just cream and strawberries!) Thank-you for the top quality service and divine dessert. We will return on future trips to Brisbane!

Considering the flavors of ice cream from other shops in the nearby area, this place is okay. I did not find anything special about it. Oh well, at least I can say i tried it but am disappointed that when you order a Ferrero Rochelle waffle, you onky get one Ferrero Rochelle on the waffle. As far as the ice coffee...way too much whipping cream. Just ruined the coffee.

Honestly love this place. It’s in south bank and seems so underrated. It has THE best waffles I’ve ever tasted. Idk why it seems empty at times. The prices are pretty good. And they have a Tuesday half price deal which is awesome. Anyone at SB wanting a nice snack should go.

Lovely staff. But the cups are too small and the gelato is basically liquid. I didn't even make it 15 metres from the shop and the gelato was running down my arm. I hate to give bad reviews where nice people work, but I didn't hand over $9 to lose a third of it on the ground and down my arm. Also...plastic spoons.

By far one of the best places to enjoy waffles with ice cream. Affogato is also one of our favourites and it is recommended for coffee lovers. There is pram or wheelchair access and indoor or outdoor sits. Customer service is good.

Been to few places for waffles, however Gelare is far the best place to go and I have been going here for almost 10 years now. It gets quite busy on Saturdays and with difficult parking, best to go on Tuesdays when Gelare has half price waffles :)

I have dietary requirements (dairy free, low FODMAP) and the staff member who served me was very knowledgeable in which products to avoid due to the dairy. I tried the coconut double chocolate ice cream and it was delicious! You can barely tell it's dairy free and it didn't give me any symptoms so I am assuming it was low FODMAP too. Great experience and I will definitely visit again.

For the Sweet tooth, you can’t go wrong! Had the waffles with syrup and cream. Simple and classic! The waffle was soooo fluffy and just.. heaven. Amazing!! I’d wake up in the middle of the night to eat this. 🥰😍😍😍

We found this place during the partial lock-down of the Corona pandemic and were so happy that they still offered take-away. They only had one staff member working, and she was working very hard to serve all the customers quickly who were waiting in line. I love their banana split which I have now had twice, and which is hard to find in Brisbane. We will be back for sure!

The reason for 3stars is the price, unfortunately >$9 for a scoop and cone is a little pricey from my point. Other then that it was a grand experience!!!

OMG you must go here, even if it's just to get one scoop of ice-cream. I have not yet come across ice-cream that was so silky smooth and devine very unique. We shared a waffle and I'm glad we did as it was a monster. Pricing is quite high, but definitely an experience.

Visited here for the first time and had the waffles and ice cream, which were amazing! Going back for more. Friendly and quick service. Seating is ok but you could be left going somewhere else to seat during busy periods as the store is an ok size. Not a bad thing as you’re in the heart of Southbank so you could go seat by the river and enjoy the view.
