Their hot chocolate is very nice and thick. Ice chocolate is nice as well. And you have a try their desserts.
A. O.
Delicious hot fudge sauce. Delicious strawberry fondue. Delicious all round. Nice ambience with quiet peaceful surroundings. Polite customer service. Sticky date pudding isn’t warmed and is served cold which is disappointing if you order that, chocolate frogs are yummy. Service was pretty quick from order to food at table. Recommend for chocolate lovers.

There's two things that I admire in dessert, creativity and technique. Chokolait has this in spades.
This pastry chef / chocolatier has worked all over Asia and you can see that in his outputs, but he also knows his audience, which is at the Emporium, which has a high throughput of Asian customers.
I was invited to the launch of the rainbow pavlova. Ive never seen or had a rainbow pav before, so I was very curious. Each flavour was individually flavoured, but as a whole it was tasty. It was accompanied with a mango and berry semi freddo, stopped with white chocolate, chocolate gold balls and freeze dried berries. Technically brilliant, innovative, well done. A great take on an iconic Australian dessert.
The petit four cakes were particularly good too. Soft sponge, decent flavours and fillings - a plesant experience. The dark chocolate truffles were rich and decadent.
The interior is dark yet warm. It makes you forget that you are in a shopping mall. So if you want something sweet and you are in the CBD, you wouldn't do much wrong going into Chokolait.

The Turkish delight chocolates made by Ross are the best I have ever had. Also, the best hot chocolate I have had anywhere in the world it is to die for. The service and consistency of quality produced is amazing.
S. Z.
It’s such a nice cute little shop hides in the 3rd floor of Emporium. Came here with a friend and we have a great time. Cakes are decadent and of different flavour. Hot chocolates were thick and creamy. Sorbets were beyond delicious. Will certainly come back again in the future.
C. T.
A hidden gem. Cosy atmosphere with delicious drinks on menu, probably some of the best iced chocolate and strawberry smoothies we ever had in Melbourne :-)
K. V. (.
Great for when you need to take a break from shopping. Prices are reasonable given the location. The Dark hot chocolate is recommended as the texture is quite smooth and the taste well balanced and not bitter. Seating are limited so come before the lunch rush. Ask for a glass of water to clean your pallette if you want to get rid of the aftertaste.

Chocolate Pavlova made in heaven
It was a difficult decision to forego a nice healthy lunch for the intriguing combination of Pavlova and chocolate.
Despite being relatively quiet, I found the lady behind the counter a little abrupt but the young waitress was pleasant and friendly.
The hot chocolate was good but hardly spectacular.
The Pav however was exquisite, light and fluffy nicely balanced with a not too sweet dark chocolate that was smooth and creamy.
The additional 10,000 steps I did for the day was definitely worth the experience.
J. L.
Delicious Pavlova in Melbourne. The Matcha (Green tea) was a bit heavy but the original one was light, creamy and worth the $14.95. The environment felt elegant and sophisticated, feeling to European deserts. The staff were accomodating and polite. Will definitely eat here again.
M. D.
Not sure about customer service here being bad, I dealt with two people here and they were very polite and welcoming. The chocolate platter the coffee was great and the chocolate lava cake was one of the best I have had. My wife ordered a hot chocolate, that was a bit too sweet for my liking but other than that everything else was yummy.
F. P.
Desserts and chocolates are slightly too sweet for me but probably perfect for desserts lovers. Presentation was great and appetising.
The place itself was average.
J. L.
The waitress was really kind, and the dessert looks great and lovely. Also, the dessert is interesting but it's great for sweet tooth, personally, as someone who loves dark chocolate, it was too sweet for me. But it is a lovely place to go
F. G.
What a chocolate indulgence. Felt so wrong to enjoy such a hefty amount of sweet, rich, intense and dark chocolate. But, that was the point right? Tried the Choco Fondue and Iced Chocolate. Loved the little madeleines to be dipped in the melted chocolate syrup. Iced Chocolate was awesome. Sweet.
E. K. B.
Great experience: we came to try one of the best Pavlovas in Melbourne and were not disappointed - I loved a Chocolate version and my friend a Matcha one.
The dessert was perfect: super delicious but light.
The staff were polite and we were served quickly.
J. L.
The food justifies the price it commands. Elegant presentation with layers of flavours in the dessert. The chocolate is not overly sweet and you can taste the flavour of the cocoa that they used. Order their signature pavlova. You might have to wait for a bit, but it's worth it.
The only thing that brings down Chokolait's score ia the seemingly unrefined look of the place. There were out of place lamps that don't work anymore because maybe they made a mistake when choosing it so they decided just to use them. There's a table with boxes on it perhaps being prepared for a large order. Behind the counter it looks unorganized and hectic. If you're selling elegant and exquisitely crafted desserts, your decor and decorum should match that level of presentation.
There's a lot that can be improved here. I hope the owners take this into account.
c. f.
Chocolate tasted average, the dark hot chocolate did not have enough cocoa..and was too sweet.
Beautifully made and nice staff.
Not my favourite chocolate store...
L. S.
Chef's platter has a variety of delicious chocolate desserts. Iced chocolate was too strong for my liking. Friendly staff. Clean and sophisticated setting.
H. N.
It is overhyped. The Pavlova was not bad but a bit overpriced at $18. The matcha latte was a bit bitter, I was expecting something sweeter.
Y. Y.
Love it! I mentioned to their staff that I love the semi frozen raspberry mousse and then they gave another small one for me just because I like it!
M. A.
Definitely a must for those with a sweet tooth! The tasting platter has a wide variety to choose from so you can share or have it all for yourself.
A. A.
Great cozy place to stop for a cake and hot chocolate, it is located in the 3rd floor at Emporium
I enjoyed so much the Pavlova , it is really delicious , by the way the Pavlova was created in the 1920’s, to celebrate the visit of the famous Russian prima ballerina Anna Matveyevna Pavlova (1881-1931) to Australia
staff were lovely, and really care to give you the best produce and service.
Y. P.
Love all their desserts especially their traditional chocolate Pavlova. ♥️
C. M.
Deligthful place and friendly staff with beautifully presented sweet indulgences. Nice for gifts with their well presented boxes. Prices reasonable for an Emporium shop.
a.
Really nice atmosphere. Chocolate was rich. Service was non-invasive and nice. Presentation was amazing and speed pretty quick as well
S. S.
Amazing chocolate dishes - beautiful, rich, and smooth. Brilliant iced coffee. Good prices, friendly service, nice atmosphere.
Z. O.
Great location, Matcha ice-cream tastes really good, but the pavlova is a little bit greasy
B. M.
The quality of the product is amazing. Hot chocolate was delicious, iced chocolate was fantastic. But stars were lost on service. The staff member dealing with us felt rude the moment we entered the store. Everything felt like we were an inconvenience. From being seated to ordering. For such a sweet shop staff left a sour taste in our mouth
M. G.
Delicious Belgium chocolates! Would definitely recommend
M. F. P.
By far my favourite chocolate cafe of Melbourne! I've been a visitor since 2006 and my favourite on their menu from those days is the iced dark chocolate! I've enjoyed any dessert I've tried including their pavlova. Because they are local you get the sane sense of familiarity and community you might get at your favourite cafe which is part of this place's charm.
A. S.
Absolutely delightful. Had the Chef's Tasting Plate and was throughly pleased with the selection. Do yourself a favour and drop in and order it.
The service was prompt, attentive and friendly. We were carefully explained by the lovely host on what each cake was and what to expect.
The premises was clean and had a chilled atmosphere when we visited.
The prices are fair and reasonable and I felt it was money well spent. Thanks to everyone for their hospitality and wonderful tasting plate!
Try their hot chocolate!
L. M.
Trendy cafe in Emporium specialising in coffee, matcha and chocolate. Can be hard to get a table during busy times. Staff are polite and friendly.
D. M.
Favorite place to get my Pavlova fix, best yet in the city! Visit them at Shop 8/318-322 Little Collins St, Melbourne VIC 3000 as Emporium is temporarily closed. You won't be disappointed. ;)
C. R.
For those who love chocolate. This is the place in Melbourne. Cakes and drinks are all pretty good.
M. I.
We've got a tasting platter, a hot chocolate and a iced chocolate. For those who like cakes or sweet, these will be great! Some comments said, having chocolate drink with a tasting platter will be too sweet, but they were perfect for us. The only thing was the staff that took our order at the cashier wasn't friendly. She looked upset when we entered, gave us the wrong order and when we told her that's not what we ordered, she looked so annoyed. Most comments here said the staffs are friendly, I guess she was just having a bad day that time.
H.
I read many good reviews and i decided to get here for a hot chocolate , but unfortunately the weather was too hot and the air conditioner was also turned off so I wasn't the best time to have hot chocolate. So I had iced chocolate which was rich and delicious but not the best iced chocolate I've had, and I expected it too be colder! I also had pavlova which was also good and I recommend it.Overall, the quality was lower than what I expected but it worth a visit if you're a chocolate lover!
K. L.
All time favourite dessert place ! Nice and friendly staff, delicious cakes and desserts !!
D. P.
A fancier place for fancy dessert. Chocolate lava cake was creamy inside and soft on the outside. ❤
F. K.
Best matcha icecream!!! Service is a bit slow though.
V. D. E.
The matcha pavlova from my previous experience was amazing.
The tasting platter I got from scoopon was alright.
The chocolate mousse cake was soooo good!
The strawberry icecream is the best one I've ever had. You can fully taste the sweet and slightly tangy strawbery blend beautifully with the smooth cream, the best! Nothing compared to store bought strawberry icecreams in supermarkets.
The rest on the platter tasted just sweet. Even the matcha cake was disappointing.
The mini chocolates on the sides tasted stale, we took a bite and got disappointed.
The lady at the counter wears a smug face. She doesn't seem happy at all (you'd proly see her when you visit this place). Probably because most of the people visiting the cafe are from scoopon/groupon. The waitress serving the food is very welcoming and knows good customer service, kudos to the girls!
Would this experience make me go back again to this shop? No.
J. P.
The Belgian chocolate drinks and chocolate platter for 2 we received were truly decadent and of a high hand made quality. The raspberry sorbet is also very delicious and makes for a lovely refreshing change on the palate. Top service too. Highly recommend Chokolait and will definitely be returning for some more sweet indulgence! Thank you to the wonderful staff there too.
S. F.
Delicious, decadent cakes and drinks. The warm chocolate mud cake was the best, but iced chokolait and mouse cake were also amazing!
E. L.
This place was surprisingly good. While I love chocolate, I'm usually hesitant about places like this (either too sweet or too dry). Their lava cake was actually really good and sticky date pudding was fantastic. We'll come again.
J. B.
Their mint milk hot chocolate is the best hot chocolate I've ever had. It's rich, pleasantly minty, and made from real chocolate. Their chocolate truffle selection is quite good, but not unique to the store. Whilst I will often buy one or two truffles, the ones at Koko Black are a lot better. But for hot chocolate -- I go out of my way to get them from here. So good, especially in the cool months!
J. K.
I love chocolate so was excited to check this place out after I read reviews of the dark hot choc and chocolate pavlova. The staff were great, food well presented and everything tasted amazing! Definitely recommend!
W. K.
Being a chocolate lover, I have to say that the chocolate was scrumptious and delicious, but the price not so much to my taste.
The ice cream we ordered with strawberry cost $14.00, which was yummy!! It had strawberries of course and was nicely decorated with chocolate pieces and of course ice cream. It did not last long to finish and I wanted more. This is one spot I will stop by again if I was in Australia, especially since its inside the Royal Arcade tucked downstairs like some hidden treasure.
B. P.
Fast and accurate service, friendly but slightly abrupt staff, excellent quality of product. I purchased a dark hot chocolate, and it was in fact dark, hot and chocolatey. Not the greatest hot chocolate I've ever had - a little thick for my liking - but still a delicious drink, perfect for warming up on a cold and rainy day.
U. C.
Favourite rest stop when in Melbourne. The owners are lovely. Try the chocolate pav, its to die got
민.
I felt as if I were in heaven.
Hot milk chocolate was super super great!
C. W.
Staff very friendly and went out of their way to cater for mum. Platter of beautifully presented cakes, ice creams and chocolates. Family loved the iced chocolates and whole experience was like a personal high tea just high on Chocolate...
E. W.
I feel that chokolait enhances the flavour of chocolate unlike no other chocolatier I've been to. The options are quite limited in Perth and I feel as if a franchise opportunity there would be beneficial. A great experience and great variety. Rich flavours and worth the money. Great job.
A. L.
The matcha hot chocolate was delicious. Thick, rich and right amount of sweetness to balance the bitterness of the matcha.
The rainbow pavlova is nice but honestly it just tasted like any other pavlova. I tried so hard to taste each individual layer but I guess it's too subtle for my tastebuds lol nevertheless, the Pav is light and fluffy.
P. L.
Just a gorgeous place for a chocolate treat. Those hot chocolates are very photogenic, and also very filling. Here's what you should do if you want a drink and a cake. Go twice. Once for just hot chocolate, and once for cake, with water or a cup of tea. The sharing platters are terrific and generous.
B. P.
A nice atmosphere and the service was great... You can't fault the hot chocolate drinks - if you can believe it, it was too much chocolate for my six year old! Definitely worth dropping in for a decadent bite to eat and drink - the tea and coffee is also pretty good.
A. Q.
Chokolait is by far my favourite coffee down this end of Sydney road. Staff are lovely, atmosphere is inviting and the coffee and food is amazing!
The cafe also provides a community feeling offering a pay it forward coffee purchase
J. D.
The best hot chocolate in Melbourne. A big claim, sure, but I've tried all their big competitors, and Chokolait beats them all. Their jaffa hot chocolate is the highlight for me. Staff are lovely too, even when they're very busy, and the manager is a sweetheart.
S. “. 박.
Hot chocolate was sooo rich and strong!
J. R.
Most people would go to Chokolait for a hot chocolate, a cup of (lovely) Quists coffee, or a superb iced coffee. Over the years I've tried and enjoyed all those, but today it was a pot of English Breakfast tea. It really hit the spot following an afternoon of shopping. Highly recommended.
A. K.
I thought i would try something a little less mainstream and so i tried here. Firstly the service was average and i felt my order was a hassle. I continued my order and quickly picked a dark italian hot chocolate without looking at prices which in hindsight i wouldnt pay $7.50 for a small glass of thick oversweet sugarly sickness. To say i was disappointed is an understatement. The atmosphere was dark however i didn't mind the old time music they had playing. Next time i will stick to trusty Lindt or max brennan.
C. B.
The Pavlova is top notch. Probably the best I've had, ever. Service is a bit slow and ambiance is just ok, but the quality of deserts makes it worth while.
B. A.
They are extremely polite towards walk in customer who has NO clues of fine chocolate.
At Royal acade afternoon about 4pm, Christmas week.
The lady owner of the shop took patience to introduce the chocolate for my sister to indulge in. Off course, I was not so keen into the explanation at first but after a sip of the signature hot chocolate drink, I don mind paying AUD 10 for another smoothing chocolate drink. Because , it just taste much richer than any chocolate drinks I bought from Hypermarket which cost AUD 3+-. Apart from that, the vintage decor store along the royal acade alley is very easy to remember.
Is just near a shoe polish shop.
Me and sister appreicte the nice chocolate they have to offer.
P. B.
The Best thick hot chocolate I have ever had in all my life.
It was lacking in presentation but the taste definitely made up for it!
s. b.
Amazing food that is delicious. Lady that works there is really nice and skilled at what she does. I come pretty often and am never not impressed by the deserts they bring me!
L. C.
Amazing hot chocolate! Best I've had in Melbourne! Nice little chocolate shop as well for gifts and the staff are lovely. Chilli hot chocolate is definitely worth a try.
A. Y. J.
Nice place to sit and chillax. Desserts and drinks are ok
R.
Fast service. Quality desserts. Lovely ambiance.
F.
Im a regular customer and always order the same chocolate beverages... very happy with the ambience, taste and the hospitality of the staff,, but the manager always not friendly at all.. always give us sour face
A. E.
Never been there but heard good things about it.
M. K.
I can’t forget it. Cus I bited cover chocolate of outside glass. If you have a ice chochlate, you might be .... haha🤪
N. R.
When it comes to quality, nothing comes close to Chokolait.
Their hot chocolate is the best I've had in my life.
D. B.
Tasting plate with a drink was the perfect afternoon tea for two people. A large selection of delicious morsels to share. Quick service. Ckean surroundings.
A. T.
Excellent place for hot chocolate the way it should be made. Melted milk, dark or white chocolate with milk. Rich decadent flavour more than one is glutenous.
A. W.
Visited this month with friends. Great ambiance and music. Would always suggest Chokolait as a happening place!
Bartenders are friendly and feels good to be in this club.
O. o. T.
Iced chocolate is the top one in Mel, I am happy to pay more as they rent the one of the most expensive shop in Mel as well, lovely owner and ample seatings
B. C.
I am a chocolate lover! I have been here many times, staff work hard but less friendly. They should also provide water for customers as sometimes desserts can be quite sweet!
A. E.
Love the desserts. The gifts are great. Matcha pavalova is à must ! I'm here every Melbourne trip
K. R.
Yummy! A little over-priced and location in arcade is not conducive to people watching so I would only go if I am with someone. I would rather hang out at Ganache if on my own.
A. P.
Yummy chocolate dishes and drinks. Staff could use a little improvement in customer service skills, but otherwise with a visit for a sweet afternoon tea, or to buy a gift for a loved one!
S. T.
I used to go to this place before they moved to the current place. They're all sparkly and fancy now, hence the price. But I still visit every time I am in Melbourne.
J. S.
My favorite chocolate place in Melbourne. Hot dark chocolate is my must have when I visit Melbourne..
J. M.
Gorgeous chocolate shop, everything is really well done, lovely staff and service, but, it is so hard not to eat to much!

Simply the best chocolate cafe in Melbourne, the ambience in this specific location is warm and intimate.

Presentation: food is very well presented and the place is nice to have a rest
Food / Drinks: as a matcha lover, I ordered a matcha pavlova (first time I had this dessert) and a hot matcha chocolate. Overall it was fine but not that amazing, and even pretty disappointing! I actually didn't enjoy the drink as it was way too bitter for my taste. Plus, I barely felt the chocolate taste, although it was white chocolate (so mostly sugar than cocoa) so I was disappointed because I made sure when ordering that there was chocolate in the drink (I didn't want a pure matcha drink) but it didn't taste like it. About the pavlova, it tasted fine overall except for some strawberries that were actually so sour it made it difficult to eat them. The cream was good though but the matcha layering tasted too heavy at times.
Staff: they were nice but service was too slow. There were 2-4 people after me ordering, but I had to wait more than 15 minutes to get the pavlova and a few minutes more for the drink...
Conclusion: it is a nice experience but as a matcha lover, I was disappointed by the taste of the matcha, and given the price range, I would have expected more of the food & staff...
K. S.
The Pavlova is to die for. Seriously.
