Never really been a gelato fan but Gelato Messina has officially changed my mind!! Staff recommended the pistachio flavour and it was so amazing. Their dulce de leche was decadent + not too sweet, which was perfect for me. It was the perfect sweet spot, will defs be dreaming about the pistachio gelato until my next trip back 🤤❤️

One of the best ice creams one would ever have. So many flavours to choose from. There also have sorbet style icreams too.. my favorites address anything with pistachios. And there are no gelatin in these icecreams either! Bit dangerous to be living nearby especially if you are a sweet tooth😜

Best Gelato in Melbourne. I’ve had this numerous times and each time it’s just as good. They have new flavours to try regularly so you’ll never be done with all of them. Favourite is the Macadamia Crunch. Usually nutty gelatos has very little nuts in them but this one has a truckload of them. Prices well, tasty, great service... recommended and will definitely return.

Gelato Messina is my favourite ice cream shop in Melbourne! The ice cream is delicious, the staff are very nice and friendly, located conveniently in Richmond, close to major roads and public transport this makes Gelato Messina a wonderful place to go. The ice cream or gelato is always fresh and on display and whenever I am there I love eating it. Even though I’ve never had any of the cakes they definitely look amazing. Overall Gelato Messina is defiantly a big recommendation and I hope you can also check it out soon!

Messina definitely is one of my favourites and sets the bar high for any other contender. The ever-changing rotation of over 40 artisan flavours and combinations. One of my favourites would have to be the Tiramisu gelato. Keep an eye out on their specials! A few tables inside and out to sit and have your icecream, they also do takeaway tubs. ⭐️ 5/5

One of my favourite place to celebrate with friends and family. The ice-cream is incredible! Honestly I love it so much. Unfortunately the store itself isn't much to look at, but that really isn't an issue. You can taste test all the ice creams for free before you buy a scoop or two, and the staff is friendly and respectful. I highly recommend the Pandan icecream 😁

I'm glad I've come. Have heard about this place for a while now so happy I finally got to try it. However, I won't go out of my way again to come here. Sure, if I'm in the area in the future, then I might grab something, but it certainly wasn't worth all the hype that comes with this place. I'd say the icecreams are ok. Not out of this world, but not bad, just ok. I did try a few they had and yeah I have had better at other places in the past. But then I have certainly had worse as well. Service....hmm, look, I know what it is like to have staff, so I can't penalise the place simply for having staff that look like they don't want to be working today, for all I know they could be great staff, but are just having a bad day. Although, I think no matter how bad your day is going a simple smile can go a long way. But hey, they are young so hopefully they will improve. Overall, I'd probably rate the whole experience 6.5 out of 10.

By far the best I’ve cream place in Melbourne. The hardest thing is to decide on which flavour to get. Lucky I live close and can go regularly. By far my favourite is the salted caramel with white chocolate bits. As well as the Dulce de Luce. So many new flavours all the time. Great work guys !!!

Hmmmm surprised about all the raving reviews. Sure, the gelato isn’t bad, but it doesn’t compare to gelato served in Italy. Maybe we weren’t lucky with the flavours?.. Dulce had a very strong butter aftertaste (couldn’t finish it) and pistachio flavour, as well as pistachio praline, was overwhelmingly sweet. We were really looking forward to having delicious gelato like we had in Italy but unfortunately it couldn’t compare. Great service.

Every lick is an explosion of flavor in your mouth and It's unbelievable how they capture some of the flavors that they do. This is one of my go-to places for that special treat after a dinner, after a movie or 'just because!' There is a fabulous selection of flavours from the typical chocolate and vanilla right through to a whole lot of other blends. The queue can be long during busy periods so be prepared to wait - it is worth it. Staff were extremely helpful and easy going. Kids welcome and they'll love it. Kid sized cones available. Prices are reasonable but not necessarily cheap. But heck, once you've had one it's hard not to go back for more. Wheelchair and disability friendly. Strollers and prams can fit. Parking isn't too bad but it is Swan Street so watch out for those parking inspectors.

OMGosh has it been soo long since my last visit? Noo lol. Anyway on my last visit I had some rich chocolate and passionfruit sorbet. The chocolate was rich and creamy and definitely not sweet. Just perfect. The passionfruit sorbet was a sour, whoa, lip smacking, face twisting delight. I’m pulling a face writing this now hahaha It was definitely delicious though and I was one happy camper! This place is still amazing and if you haven’t been here in a while, it’s time to go back lol. Enjoy. Previous review - March 2016 Just had some Lemon Sorbet and some Blood Orange Sorbet here. Very nice but it's a bit too sweet for my taste buds. I am trying not to eat cane sugar so I didn't try any of the other amazing flavours such as poached fig, or salted caramel and white chocolate! OMGosh they look soo good! Maybe I'll try them next time hahaha

They only take cash or app payment (not that I was able to find the app), so that was a little frustrating. Single scoop is $4.80 which is more than I like to spend in ice-cream but I had a craving so went for it any way. Heaps of interesting flavours, so being spoilt for choice I had to taste a few before making my decision. It's only a small store which is fine but there is very limited seating. Staff were very friendly and made the store feel more inviting.

Their flavours that are on special tend to be exciting and have a lot to offer but unfortunately their downfall are the classic flavours. Passion fruit gelato seems to be a bit bland. I would expect something a bit sour for a passion fruit gelato but the flavours don’t really excite me and it lacked that bite. Service is always as quick as it can be with the popularity but I think it’s a bit too on the pricey side.

We absolutely love Messina. As vegans, it's very hard to find good gelato around and Messina is definitely the best gelato brand in that area (and possibly in Australia). The staff is friendly, although one time the staff took longer to take orders because they were chatting in the back room lol. One criticism would be to perhaps stop the use of single-use plastic as I've noticed they use plastic spoons and cups. It's time to invest in compostable options. Anyways, do try it out and try the chocolate sorbet with mango-coconut, it's mindblowing!

The place must be good as it is very very popular with queues throughout the day and night. There's a very large variety of gelatis available within, which are very unique and creatively put together. I certainly don't dislike this establishment, but the salted caramel thickshake I had was a little too salty for my liking. The only other reason I haven't rated the establishment higher is because I don't like to wait in queues. (I totally understand that this is a personal opinion) I'm definitely going to revisit the place when it's not too busy to try out the other flavors, and I'm sure I'll review my rating. After all, it's very busy for a reason. My close friends rate it THE BEST IN VIC, so if you don't mind lining up, or if you love your gelati, go check it out as you'd probably rate it a 5 star. Don't let my 3 star fool you.

Messina always knows how to do just the right amount of flavours and add-ins without overdoing it. I've loved every scoop I've ever had from them, with the vegan pandan and the pannacotta with fig jam being two standouts. But today, I went for something far more decadent- a double scoop of two specials, one banana gelato with dulce de leche and caramelised peanuts, and the second chocolate gelato with fudge and chocolate nougatine. Let me tell you, I was expecting a terrible sugar rush and stomach ache, but ended up with neither. Guess that's what you get when you opt for desserts made with good ingredients. The first flavour didn't taste too strongly of banana, a flavour I love when natural but detest when artificial. The dulce de leche, a favourite childhood condiment of mine, was used just sparingly enough to compliment the mix without overpowering. In comparison to this flavour, the chocolate scoop was much more subdued, and it's subtle bitterness a welcome contrast to the saccharine counterpart. The nougatine was to die for, with the taste and texture of a toffee infused chocolate biscuit. Best part of all was that I got my cone for free via Liven. Love that app! Just one more reason to reaffirm my very high regard for Gelato Messina.

Went in there at quite a busy time, thought we were lining up in what looked to be the queue instead we ended up being the last people served after waiting a while.
