🇭🇰 hong kong street desserts
🍫 ‘old time buddies’ dark choc softserve
🍪 choc & larrie w/ choc macadamia cookie
🧋 happy ghost with youtiao
🍵 matcha softserve & egg waffle
🥥 pandan coconut

📍: Franklin St, CBD
Cute little store on Franklin Street selling a range of fusion Hong Kong desserts and delicious softserves.
Personally felt like it used to be better. Egg waffles were too dense, and soft serve too sweet for my taste. The Chinese donuts (youtiao) were also quite stale—you can kind of smell that it’s not that fresh.
Wouldn’t recommend the Pandan Coconut flavor. Dark chocolate one was the best.

Great ice cream and the waffle on top was delicious. It was just the right amount of sweetness! The aesthetic is of the store is also great and the neon lights really give you HK vibes! 🇭🇰🍦

We've been eyeing this place for so long but never got the chance to visit ... until last night. And we've chosen a cold night (out of all nights) to visit. Who doesn't love ice cream all year round?
The vibes here are awesome - awesome tunes on the background, an interesting menu and a cool hippy setting.
We tried three out of the six options - we had to. We tried the Bobby Brown - which is a sphere of a chocolate ice cream with almond ganache, the Happy Ghost (pandan flavour) and the Choc & Larrie (dark soft serve with choc and madacamia cookie).
We were not mad about the Bobby Brown - we found that it lacked that element that would make you go back for more. Also, we thought that it should be kept at a lower temperature freezer as it was too frozen for us to enjoy and we didn't have the instructions that we had to wait before eating it.
Our favourite was the pandan Happy Ghost - it was simply delish and we didn't expect to like this one the most. The palm sugar caramel is to die for coupled with the savoury HK donuts is simply genius. The HK donuts though needed to be a bit fresher.
The Choc & Larrie has great potential - but again, one of those that's missing something to wow you - maybe sea salt or something zingy - or even a lemon cookie - not sure. A couple of spoonfuls later, it becomes a bit repetitive. Also, the choc ganache little syringe didn’t come out :-(
We will definitely come back for the rest of the ice creams on the menu and we'll update accordingly.
Until then, keep eating,

Pretty cool place with great desserts selections. We ordered the Wondermelon and it was nice and refreshing.
Will come back next time to try their other menu.

This small shop sells insta-worthy desserts. They have a number of options to suit your taste ranging from fruity to the sweet. We tried the signature HongKong Boi and are really happy with it. The mix of the milk tea flavoured ice cream and the donuts are sublime. There aren't many seats so expect to take your dessert on the go.

Have tried various different flavours with my favourite being choco larie and the pandan one. Would love to visit again but sadly they are closed temporarily (unsure of when they would open again)

Just happened to stumble upon this dessert shop by accident but it was absolutely delicious! The ice creams were true to their flavour names and were so addictive, the eggettes were beautifully crispy and went perfectly with the ice cream, and there was a little crumble at the bottom of the ice cream cups that blew my mind. We shared two ice cream cups between three people and it was more than enough. The staff were also very friendly and the decor was cute. I would recommend it for groups wanting to share some great dessert!

This place has a great assortment of creative ice cream desserts. The quality of the soft serve was quite good. However, I wish the ingredients were prices a la carte. The premade creations can be quite big, but only the sort serve and waffle are priced individually.

Nice place for dessert with interesting menu. When we went they were super busy and there were only 2 people working. The service was so slow. We had to wait around 20 mins or more for our 1 order. They need a better system so they can serve the customers quicker. Other than that love the place and the dessert

Lovely place with interesting deserts.
The place is dimly lit at night and not too conducive for staying too long, but the desserts are wonderful!
Excellent taste, good service!

I was so happy with the Hong Kong Boi milk tea icecream as it really hit the spot for me! Staff were also friendly and helpful to my friends and I and even replaced one of the icecreams we dropped! (Sorry and thank you so much🥰)

Feel like a HK egg waffle? Here's a place for you!
Go get it.

Not bad actually! Happy Ghost was quite tasty although I never thought one would eat youtiao with pandan ice cream.

I'm glad I came here this time around during my trip in Melbourne as they were only just opened not long ago. We ordered their Pistachio soft serve. Variety, flavour, presentation, texture, they have it all. It left me speechless and mystified by how they did it. Their gelato is simply amazing and addictive. Strong flavours that leave you wanting more.

A great after dinner dessert, and open late on a Sunday. Would go again.

Nice Hong Kong ambience and unique ice cream flavors. Prices are reasonable compared to elsewhere. Have tried a few flavours before. Wonder melon and HK milk tea remain my all time favorites. A place in my mind for their ice cream whenever in city.

Inconspicuous location along Franklin St. Got to try their pandan coconut and happy ghost ice cream! Both of the desserts were really creamy with distinct tastes. Love how they incorporated the youtiao into one of the desserts which portrays a sense of home for some Asians. Would definitely recommend.

Both Old Time Buddies and Pistachio Matchachio are to die for - both well made with layers of perfect combination of flavours and textures, however egg waffles could have been softer inside with a crunchier shell and also matcha one does not taste matcha enough. Wondermelon is another innovative treat that celebrates the taste of watermelon in three different sensations. This is a place for any big fan of soft serve ice cream, as these are thick, smooth and flavorful, even though watermelon sorbet or in general all sorbet are much lighter and more watery than Italian sorbet/gelato. Friendly staff is a plus. Definitely overpriced but this is probably due to lack of competition.

I have been wanting to try HKBoi for ages, and finally, after lots of convincing to get my partner to go with me, I succeeded. We had the Wondermelon, Hongkongboi and a special of the day which was a tiramisu-ish egg waffle.
Loved the Wondermelon, a wonder indeed. The watermelon sorbet was so refreshing and light on the palate, and offset the sweetness of the macaron.
The HKBoi I liked too. A delicious boi this was. The HK milk tea ice cream was on point, and those crumbles did the trick. The bun was a bit stale though.
The egg waffles weren't the light and airy ones you'll find in HK, but if taste is what you're after, it will keep you happy. Couldn't fault the flavour combination, and the bold coffee kick shone through.
No issue with waiting times as we were the only customers at that time but with only one staff working then, I could see a bit of a wait if they got busy.

Excellent soft serve. Ive tried all the soft serves in the area, this one is the real deal. Not too sweet and extra creamy and thick. No icicles. Bonus are the Hong Kong inspired flavours and added textures and fun presentation.

My wife and I shared the old time buddies and....
Woooowwww!!! It was simply amazing.
The chocolate hazelnut ice cream was sensational, perfect combo with the chocolate chip egg waffle, the little banana pieces with some crunchy bits under the ice cream were a pleasant surprise.
Soo good. Hong Kong Boi. Loved it. One cool little dessert bar with great desserts.
Absolute perfection.

Had HK Milk tea soft serve during my trip to Melbourne and boi, it was sooooo damn good!!! My friend had a Pistachio which tasted great as well. The staff was very nice and let us tried a big spoonful of Pandan Coconut which was also great. All the flavours were on point!
The shop was a little too dark thou. At first I thought it was close.

Yum yum yum! Just had a delicious dessert from Hong Kong Boi. I had the "Pistachio Matchachio" parfait, with matcha egg waffle, pistachio soft serve, buttery crumble, yuzu creme anglaise and raspberry crisps! 😋 Service was on point - we met the friendly owners, they're so lovely. Definitely worth a visit!

The presentation of the food was fantastic; perhaps it was us, however the flavours were quite rich and not as expected. I would certainly return to try more of the menu items - perhaps with some staff recommendations (who were great during our visit). Will be back!

Great dessert shop
Great dessert shop with unique decor and interesting range of desserts. I agree with other reviewers who also stated that they store is not conducive for lingering around but for a quick sugar fix after eating in the area, it really hits the spot.

Unique and delicious desert place with a nice atmosphere. Nice little cafe to visit, would highly recommend.

Delicious ice cream

Nice Korean ice desserts. Had to wait a while for a table and the order took a while to arrive as they seemed to be doing a lot of delivery orders. But very nice and made a change from the usual ice cream.
