Well unlike other reviews and the long waiting queues, the icecreams were a letdown. Within seconds of stepping out of the store, the scoops were melting and dripping down our arms (it was a warm day but not that bad too). Both the flavours, pistachio or salted caramel were more creamy than any pronounced flavours. Not on my go to for next time.
A. C.
Gelatos are absolute yum! Had watermelon, mojito (non alcoholic) and mango.
We also had dairy range flavours - peanut butter, Nutella and pistachio. They were nice too but a bit too creamy and milky.
Recommend the sorbet range more
M. K.
PLEASE CHECK THE REVIEW FOR NEW MENU
Nutella swirl, pistachio flavour ice creams are must try. If it’s a sunny-day plus weekend then you definitely have to wait it in queue for at least 20 mins
M. A.
When in Melbourne it's important to always pay a visit into your nearest pidapipo branch for some quality ice cream. With dairy and dairy free options there'll be a flavor to meet anyone's taste. Staff on today were flat out busy, hard working and never complained. Great experience for all their customers.

I think this is the best gelato shop in Melbourne... Friday night gelato made us through lockdown and all.
I always order pistacchio and baccio... Happy when the servings are big, I normally observe and select the good scooper girl...
D. L.
Yummy as I expected. I will definitely go there again to try other flavors.
A. S.
You don't get the status of Melbourne's best ice cream for no reason. It is indeed one of the best ice-cream/gelato. The textures, sweetness, flavours, abd service are all five star. There is usually a queue but it moves fairly quickly. My favourite flavours are: nuttela swirl, pistachio and coffee.
D. W.
Don't get turned off by the long lines, it's worth the wait! Staff are friendly and their ice cream is boss. Watch all the heroes rev their cars up and down lygon in their hektik street machines while you wait. Fior di Latte and salted caramel does it for me.
D. S.
I always wondered why there's always a queue here, so I decided to let my taste buds do the deciding. Now, I'm a very big ice cream fan, and my favourites were going to be hard to beat. Pidapipo didn't disappoint. The ice cream was so good that we went out of our way to go back again, and we brought others with us. The creamy texture is second to none, the flavours are amazing (if you can't decide, try the vanilla honeycomb) and the pricing is on point. I'm definitely going back.
N. N.
Super tasty creamy ice cream. Shop was packed and we were so lucky to get a seat inside the shop. Amazing ice cream flavors to choose from. We had the salted caramel, peanut butter and peaches and cream. Customer service was great and quick. Definitely something you much try if you are in this area.
A. B.
Love it!!! Definitely the best gelato I've ever had.. You can taste the real ingredients they are using, not some cheap stuff laced with artificial flavourings. Service was also on point. The lady served with smile and warmth. I always come here for my gelato fix and they never disappoint. Pistachio is always my favourite. Be aware of long queue, but it definitely worth the wait.
A. S.
Pidapipo usually has a line up our front and for good reason. I thought, just another over-hyped ice-cream place in Melbourne but boy was I wrong. Service is friendly, patient and fast. The flavours and options here are plentiful without being over the top and they get them all bang on! The menu rotates daily and they have cup and come options as well as take home tubs. Kid friendly and if you try only one ice-cream place in Carlton, this is the one!
I. M.
Ice cream is really creamy and portions are good. The ricotta, honey, and almond was superb, but the pistachio was a bit light on flavoring. Would love to seem them experiment more with new flavor combos. Complaint is that they don't make the cones themselves which surprised my for a high-end established foodie ice cream location.
S. C.
The ice cream is great, no denying it. The biggest issue about this place is the long queues. Came here on a balmy Thursday summer night and the line was easily over 50m long. Surely management can figure out a better way to serve customers quicker. The blood orange and pistachio are the pick of the bunch.
S.
My favourite gelato in Melbourne! 😊 I was served by the best staff today! 🤍
B. B.
Wow! Excellent gelato and queues to match. But great staff getting through the requests as well as they can. Can’t fault!
α. C.
Best ice cream in the city. The only have a few flavours, but all of them are very good
K.
How have you not tried Pidapipó already? They sell Gelato and let me tell you it’s the best authentic Italian style artisanal gelato in Melb. No idea how they nail the flavour but they the best in business. Few favs : Fior de latte, Bacio, Rose, pistachio 🤤
P.S - they have dairy free options.
S. M.
The ice creams are always great here.
One of the few shops in Melbourne that has a long queue at night
A. A.
Such an amazing gelato place. Very very tasty and always delicious. We tried different flavours but the one I found extremely amazing is the Bacio. You will have the “WOW” reaction once you try it. The pistachio flavour is also incredible so is the hazelnut.
The queue can be very long most of the times but it moves very quickly.
Service here is fantastic even during peak times as they are very patient with customers trying to taste while the place is very busy.
O. S.
The best ice-cream shop in Carlton. Their ice-cream is so creamy and milky that you believe it's really made of milk but not artificial creamers and sweeteners. When other gelaterias are empty this one is always full of people.
I did try a better ice-cream in Italy and China but this one is probably one of the best in Melbourne.
M. A.
This spot is to die for , it's worth it to put on a few pounds for this delicious snack. The lime up was around the door and onto the street, it's worth the wait. We chose the double scoop coconut and nutella , it was so yummy. I had to go with a cone , it adds so much more flavour. Maybe next time I will buythe gelato book they have for sale. The staff was French and super service oriented. Great guys
L. S.
Always love the gelato here. Variety of flavours, and you can even have mojito one yum!
H. Y.
If you ever pass by Lygon Street, I wouldn’t be surprised if you see a long line in front of this store. Being one of the most famous gelato place in Melbourne, Pidapipó has definitely won many’s tastebuds. My go-to flavours here are pistachio and salted caramel. To each their own but these two flavours blend perfectly well together to my own taste :) Would have given it 5-star but taking 1 away because the gelato texture is rather ‘runny’ even on a not-so-hot-day.
M. L.
The best gelato in town! Adding their hot Nutella to your ice cream is amazing 🤩
A. N.
What gelati shop doesn't do lemon, your lemon was the best in the area and has just disappeared and we have had to go elsewhere. We miss you, please bring back lemon.
D. C.
Delicious, amazing creamy icecream.👍
A bigger variety would be preferable.
I highly recommend it.
E. E.
A great artisan gelati place that definitely worth not only one visit but numerous of them! Not only crafting their gelati well, they use all natural fruits from the market. Upon entering the store you will have a great sniff on all these fresh fruit smell. Once you are close to the counter you can see the ice cream drum lids covering their mouthwatering gelati. Before closing in to the counter, you will have a clear view on the board where they display their currently available flavors. The flavours usually range from people's favorite like pistachio, salted caramel, or their own twist such as passinfruit and meringue.
All their flavours are well crafted and balanced, so any of your choice will not dissapoint. Your taste buds are in for a real treat!
M. T.
We had big expectations going here because people recommended it and the reviews were awesome. We also expected big and bold flavours, so were a bit disappointed when we found that the 8 or so flavours on offer were quite plain and simple - standard stuff you can find in any ice cream shop. So tasty ice cream, but nothing special
m. s.
Awesome gelato as always. Nice to pop by on a Sunday night after dinner.
D. S.
Having just returned from Italy - the home of gelato, this place was going to be out to the test. And it was. And I wasn’t disappointed. Great range of flavours as well as other delicious treats to be tried. Staff are lovely and very helpful letting you test a few flavours.
Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Parking - hey it’s Lygon Street.
K. M.
Creamy, delicious gelato. Love the flavours and taste. Have been to both locations one at Lygon street and thus new one in the middle of the city. Staff are very polite and patient and very curties. Love it🍨❤🍦!!!!All natural ingredients!
L. P.
This gelateria is just around the corner of Double Tree by Hilton Hotel.
The queue was unbelievable after we got our gelato and it is definitely worth it!!
Honestly this place should not be missed!
The best gelato.
I had my vanilla gelato, and yes you night say it’s basic but believe me this is softest and yummiest gelato!
I also tasted the hazelnut while I was there and it tasted delicious too.
B. S.
-Menu on last image- Expect a long queue because this Gelateria will blow your mind! 😂 With its wide selection of delicious flavor and they have non dairy options as well!
The customer service is great and nice warping skills tho. I got 1L tub of 2 different flavour ( pistachio and bacio). When I got home after 40min the icecream *barely melted* to a point it became milkshake.😂
So those who wanted to take home your very own pidapipó here's your chance
h.
From the long queue that I always see on weekends I decided I'll try it, but it doesn't worth the wait , its pretty ordinary you can have this gelato at many other places
M. B.
If you're looking for some awesome Gelato, look no further!!! Pidapipò has gelato that is absolutely amazing!!! This is my favourite spot in Melbourne for some gelato, they have some awesome flavours. The gelato isnt too sweet, the staff is always great. There is usually a line out the door here, but the wait is definitely worth it.
A. P.
If you are craving ice cream then this is the place to visit. The flavours are super tasty and the quantity they serve is huge. Must go!!!
A. S.
If you have never had the pleasure of standing in line for ice cream, then you're missing out. They absolutely nail all their flavours, and their ice cream is some of the smoothest I've ever eaten. Definitely something to check out if you haven't already.
F. H.
The queue is worth the wait. Freshly made delights - sorbets or ice creams. Like being back in the old country. And the vibes are oh so Italian, too. A great afternoon treat!
S. D. M.
I've been here twice now and am not sure what the excitement is all about. At the first visit I tried their banana gelato which was smooth but had the (fake) banana essence flavour - it was totally underwhelming. I gave it a second chance today and went for the Nutella swirl which a lot of people rave about. However, other than the fresh, crispy cone and the chocolate fudge as a free add on, the gelato itself was simply....ordinary.
I'm going against the grain here but my fave remains Casa Del Gelato a few blocks down.
M. M.
This is the best gelato I've ever had before in Melbourne!!
The taste was really thick and smooth.
My favorite one is pistachio!!
S.
In a word WOW. The icecream here was phenomenal, I had never heard of this place before, was looking for some dessert and found it on Google. I thought there was no way this place could have 2,000 positive reviews but I stand corrected, coming from Sydney where two scoops of icecream cost me $9 I was very pleased to find I could get 3 scoops at Pidapipo for the same price. And wow the flavours were much nicer! I got watermelon dairyfree which was definitely the best watermelon icecream I've ever tasted, Mascarpone with apricot jam which just as good and passionfruit vanilla slice which was still amazing but a little gritty for my taste. Either way wasn't displeased with anything, the cone was good too even though I could barely take two bites after finishing 3 scoops of icecream. Oh and I didn't mention the scoops are ginormous, I think definitely worth the money. There was a bit of a line while I was there but it moved quickly and the shop stays open late which is great. I think if you have only one day in Melbourne (like I did) make sure you visit here!
L. D.
Amazing proper Italian style ice cream and really generous portions! Lots of options - Nutella swirl was insane, cute shop too!
A. A.
Amazing flavours! The staff are efficient and friendly. The queue might be long but definitely worth it. Try to go in the evening/early on in the night to avoid the crowd. The salted caramel gelato is what I imagine heaven would serve up. Would re-visit 110%
T. E.
Amazing place to hang out. Outstanding taste for the buds. New flavours always
c.
Great selection of ice cream. Missing a good old plain vanilla. But the honeycomb vanilla was creamy and sweet, tasty. Their other mixed flavours are delicious too. Serving sizes are massive, especially for price! Only needed one scoop after dinner.
Worth the line up. And there will be a line up no matter what time you go because it's that good!
Y. Z.
This would be a fantastic gelateria if we were in small town Victoria. But in the midst of all the ice-cream competition in Metropolitan Melbourne, it lacks the wow factor.
R. N.
Can't deny that this is indeed one of the best or the best Gelato in Melbourne, Not too busy in the afternoon and price is great !!
Ordered Bacio, Pistacchio and Nutella Swirl and it was awesome.
Do visit this place if you are in the area and just order any flavour and guaranteed it will taste good.
T. D.
Possibly the best gelato in Melbourne and that is saying something. Pick a flavour any flavour and you’re guaranteed to be happy.
R. G.
One of the bests ice creams in VIC and probably whole Australia. In any time of a day, even at winter times you have to wait in a queue for 15 minutes, but it is worth to wait.
T. M.
Great icecream place lots of variety its hard to walk past
D. N.
I think I went in with such high expectations, but it wasn’t memorable or a place where I’d go out of my way for. The Nutella was good, but the vanilla had no complexity to it. This place is still better than Messina if you had to pick.
J. B.
9/10 times you are likely to arrive at Pidapipo with a reasonably long line. I have to say that though I hate waiting for my food, this gelato was worth the wait! Delicious and creamy - this gelato is great for a warm day. The Nutella Swirl, and Ricotta, Cinnamon, and Honey are two great flavours to try!
I. A.
One of the best gelattos in Melbourne. The texture is fantastic. They sell the non dairy based gelatto as well for those dairy product intolerant peeps. The flavour they sell is not as many as it is in website but it's still a great range of flavour
V. D.
Great ice cream with Italian tradition in Melbourne! Nice place, loud music! Nice people and excellent service.
S. F. L.
A great spot for some authentic real Italian gelato! Love the range of flavours which is decent and there are also daily/seasonal specials. It’s a good sign when there is a small queue outside, it really is bellissimo gelato! I had the fresh ginger and cookie one which was not too sweet, creamy and zingy with some crunch. 😊
J. L.
Lets start with the queue. The queue is present in front of the shop almost at all times of the day, irregardless rain or shine. Fortunately, the queue moves fairly quickly due to the efficient staffs that works here. Upon getting to the front of the line, you get to choose from an abundance of flavors. Some are bizarre and some are just magic, hence choose wisely.
For me, the queue was bearable. The options of flavors was awesome. The gelato could be magic or disaster depending on which flavors you mix them with.
T. H.
Great place to visit beautiful ice cream, really good range of flavours.
S. A.
I got the coffee and brownie and it was delicious!
The staff were really nice and friendly too :)
P. P.
I just loved the swirl nutella.. and even i tried rest of the flavors as well.. pistachio, rose flavor (sorry, i dnt remember the exact name of this) & bascio. Those were even nice. I would recommend to go and surely try. Specially nutella! I m excited to try more soon. And will surely share the experience.♡
S. H.
One of the best gelato places in Melbourne... be ready for a long wait in the queue to get a gelato 🍦
F. G.
Superb Gelato. Probably the best I've tried as for now. Had the eclectic choice of Ricotta, Lavender and Lemon Zest gelato. Really had a balanced flavor combination topped with Amarena Cherry that added sweet finish to the aromatic gelato.
E. T.
Amazing flavors! Best gelato on Lygon. bacio, pistachio and blood orange are winners for me.
K.
Amazing flavours of fresh getalo! Absolutely love this place and it's definitely a winner with many people! The line to get served speaks for itself.
Been here heaps of times and there's always a line. Definitely worth the wait! And make sure you get Nutella on top of your gelato! 😋😎
L. Y.
I got the egg nog + mojito..
Egg nog was a bit too odd lol And mojito was super sour. I think next time I'll stick to the popular flavors haha.
D. K.
This is the best gelato I've had in my life... And I've sought out frozen desserts all over the world
T. K.
Pros: Variety of flavours and quiet tasty and quick service. We bought Nutella Swirl and Passion fruit.
Cons: Huge queue outside the shop
Y. T.
Super friendly staff! Tried Pistachio ice cream on cone suggested by my friend(a big fan). Lovely texture and rich flavour, also gave me a full stomach 🤩Such a huge scoop😆 Definitely recommended!
E.
We came here at around 10:20, waited in line for about 30-40 mins and when we went in they closed the doors (after us) leaving over 30 people in line outside, saying it was closed. I personally found that very rude and wrongly handled (they could have gone outside and told the last person in line that they would be last), rather than closing the door without notice.
The ice cream was very tasty!
T. M.
Incredibly delicious ice cream. Well worth the wait in the queue.
M. N.
Not a lot of flavour options, but what they do, they do perfectly. Really creamy, authentic and delicious ice cream served by friendly staff. Recommend the coffee + brownie & coconut + Nutella. Very well priced too.
A. S.
Very busy, but worth the wait if you love ice cream!
Amazing flavors, served in chips or cones, by friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Authentic, and full of flavours, it beats any I've had elsewhere.
Reasonably priced, which makes the long queues worthwhile and doesn't leave a sour taste (pun intended!)
E. L.
Went there several times simply because it was good, like always.
His favorite was the lemon flavour with cream on top while mine are the coconut and bacio flavour.
C. Z.
The fresh fruit, the fresh taste and the unforgettably smooth texture.
All times favourite. One of the key reasons for a trip to the Lygon street.
G. S.
Nice ice cream but customer service also counts. 2PM on a Sunday, queue back to the corner, 30 minute wait, one person serving whole the other made ice cream. If yr pulling in numbers like this, treat yr customers and staff right and put more people on.
J. Q.
Long line cause it’s always so popular. But at least they’re open relatively late. There are a range of unique flavours! The staff are good at serving the gelato, and it tasted pretty good (but a little too sweet).
In terms of seating, it’s a bit difficult to find a seat cause the place is quite small. But there are a lot of places around / in the area to walk around while you eat. In terms of pricing, it is on the more expensive side, compared to other places, but the quality definitely doesn’t disappoint
M. K. B.
I tried watermelon ice cream since it said that their ice creams taste like fresh fruit. Usually I am more of a vanilla or chocolate kinda girl, basically not a fan of fruity flavoured ice creams but this one wasn't bad at all, in fact it was nice. So now I have to go back and try chocolate or something (my usual go to flavours)
H. T.
Consistently good. Everything is decent, especially the passion fruit flavour. The fruit was cut and prepared in front of us while we were there.
D. A.
Possibly the best icecream parlour on Lygon street. Long queues. But a must visit.
H. N.
Ordered 500ml of pistachio and hazelnut ice cream. They have the best pistachio gelato in town!
I. P.
One of the best gelaterias in Melbourne. It's not the most spacious, and you should expect lines during most days, but the gelato is just so good. Always come for the nutella swirl and opt for one of their fruit-based options made from fresh fruits. I salivate just writing this review.
J. M.
One of the best home made ice creams I have ever tasted !!!!
It was a bit of a wait but it was well and truly worth it highly recommended
S. L.
Friendly staff, lovely ice cream!
My favorate gelato shop in Melbourne.
Try plum gelato.... amazing taste, fruity!!
should be only in summer.
r.
Very delicious ice cream go buy from here it's too good
A. C.
One of the best gelato spots in Melbourne! There are always exciting flavours to pair with the core classics and they always get the texture on point. Come during peak times and you could be lining up for 20-30 minutes! 100% worth the wait though and will be a regular spot for an evening treat
Z. Z.
Love love love pidapipo icecream, it’s creamy and they have good sizes at a reasonable price. This is the 1 litre tub and what I love is how they always change their flavours so that there is always new things to try out - and new varieties so we won’t get bored. The icecream isn’t very sweet either so it’s refreshing and doesn’t make you feel sick
R. d. l. H.
A wonderful gelateria. If you're looking for an ice cream, this is not your place. But if you're looking for a proper gelato full of flavour, look no further and come here. Top 3 in Melbourne.
A. S. B.
Fior de latte and Nutella ice cream are the best flavours with other really good flavours too
F. M.
I love this gelato shop - it’s the best so far!
k. n.
Best quality ice with low price. Moreover they have different flavors and even vegan ice creams.
R. R.
Almost always a line till outside the store. Open till late which is awesome. The ice cream (gelato?) tastes so good esp the watermelon and honeycomb ones. Staffs are all friendly and really quick.
S. D.
The cones looked a bit small but boy did they pile the DELICIOUS gelato on. Generous scoops, great texture and durability (barely had to worry about drips, and I'm a slow eater).
B. L.
The most delicious icecream! Lots of wonderful flavours and even on a super hot day it was worth waiting in a short line (which moved quickly) to obtain a tasty, cooling treat!
K. B.
Deliciously served ice cream that gets mouth watering..🤩😋🤟🏻
M. N.
Wide range of different flavoured ice cream. Sometimes staff don't make the cones well ie. Ice cream can be quite unstable. Other than that, good quality ice cream.
H. N.
Had piña colada and lemon gelato, they taste pretty amazing. Went on NYE and waited about 10mins to order but definitely worth the wait.
G. H.
Blood Orange and Baci. Always smooth and delish gelato option. Favorite Gelato Store!!
I. N.
Tried the Bacio and several other flavours which were all very enjoyable despite the cold. Definitely worth the wait in the long queue.
K. K.
I've been to many gelato places and this is probably the best one. Great silky, creamy consistency with well-balanced flavour. There's a big variation of flavours to choose from too- my absolute favourite would be the salted caramel orange blossom and choc crumble! There's always a line at the store front, but the gelato is worth waiting for.
E. K.
All Time favourite Melbourne gelato. We popped in on a 30c December day and as expected there was a queue at the front. It moved quick and there are now QR codes on the windows to show you the menu as well as the blackboard inside. We tried the Christmas Pudding special which was delicious (think rum and raisin plus cinnamon).
M. A. M.
Beat ice cream I’ve ever had... loved the pistachio, Salted Caramel and passion Fruit....highly recommended...portions are bog though 1 scoop might be enough
Y. L. Z. (.
The best gelato place in town. Very comparable to the ones in Florence with more of a modern take on flavours. More refined and less sweet but smooth and delicious. My favourite is the rose and meringue. You can definitely taste the quality of the original ingredients in their gelato. Absolutely amazing pistachio and hazelnut flavours.
M. I.
Absolutely amazing! Great flavours and the best quality.
W.
Il Dolce Fredo is one of the pioneer gelato shops in Lygon street.
Nowadays many gelato shops have opened around Lygon street, but Il Dolce is still considered as the most favourite place in this suburb.
They offer variety of typical popular gelato flavours such as, chocolate, chocolate mint, tiramisu, cookies & cream, balleys and others.
Despite of all common gelato flavours, they offer a tropical flavours such as passion fruit, lychee, durian and others.
We understand that not everyone likes durian because of the strong smell but we do believe that everyone most likely loves ice cream.
If you're both ice cream and durian lover, Il Dolce is the perfect and only "go to" place.
It's pretty rare to have durian flavour in gelato shops especially in Melbourne, I'd say that this is the only gelato shop that has it.
We went with our friends who used to live in Melbourne around 10 years ago.
They specifically requested us to bring them to Il Dolce because they missed the authentic, rich and creamy taste of durian ice cream.
We ordered the extra small cup with two flavours (durian and durian) for $7.00.
They charged additional $0.50 because we ordered both durian flavours.
The taste was rich, fresh, delicious and absolutely fantastic.
We had a great time on every scoop of the creamy gelato that melts in our mouth.
Happy to recommend the gelato durian (The Best!!!)
Service: 3.5
Price: 3.5
Taste: 5.0
Speed: 4.0
Yay: gelato durian was a star!
Nay: little bit pricey compared other gelato shops.
M. T.
Me and my girlfriend tried the Nutella Swirl. It was yum! They topped it off with hot Nutella sauce too! Great gelato. Great value! 🍦
k. O.
My favourite late night winter snacks!
M. Y.
If you're after a sweet treat and manage to evade Brunetti's neon claws, Pidapipó should be next on your list.
With a range of base flavours, nothing too outlandish, your preference should be among the fray.
Peak wait times could dull the experience, but you shouldn't be deterred. Gelato wise, it's probably better than Brunetti...
J. A.
I had higher expectations from flavours but the Gelato was still yum. Staff was okay and service was quick. There are lines most times but they move quickly. Was it a memorable experience? No. Was the gelato out of this world? No.
B. S.
My partner and I would visit every Sunday during lockdown. A great selection of flavours, and the texture is always perfect. Personal faves are Nutella Swirl and Salted Caramel. There have always been long queues on a Friday or Saturday night (even in winter) but that's part of the atmosphere of Pidapipo and Lygon Street. We're always looking forward to our next visit.
M. V.
So good :) Love the salted caramel ice cream ❤
B. P. S.
One of not if the best ice cream I have ever tested and For me I ordered the salted caramel with chocolate and it’s just mind blowing delicious and for that I would love to eat that again
M. S.
Great ice cream, reasonably priced, huge variety and a very popular shop
J.
OMG!!! Ice cream thats to die for! The flavour rose and meringue was something we had to try and did not disappoint - the tastiest ice cream I've ever had!
a. a.
One of the best ice-creams in Melbourne. Ample variety and amazing flavours. For someone who likes ice-creams, they won't be disappointed by any random choice. Staff is friendly and I loved the Vibe of the place...would definitely visit again.
M. G.
Amazing ice cream - it reminded me of back home
C. S.
Today i went there and there was a new male worker. He was really nice. When i asked for nutella syrup after one bite of my ice cream i got , he gave it to me in a small container. And he gave me all serviettes as i got 3 scoops. Thanks a lot! Also u guys r the best!
P. W.
Yummy gelato. I always get their pistachio my absolute favourite flavour!
D. N.
Awesome gelati. Great staff. Worth the drive
A. P.
There was a Q but the Q was worth it. Ice cream is creamy and smooth! Not too sweet but it has a lot of flavours.
A. J.
Pidapipo is a must-visit for your ice-cream fix when you are in Carlton. Their serves are extremely generous, so when you get two scoops you really are in for a lot of ice-cream! they also have several dairy free flavours which are great for lactose intolerant and vegan people.
T. A.
Nutella was more like chocolate chip but peaches and cream was great. Also tried the fig and rose which was really nice as well as the honeycomb.
R. M.
The best icecream I have ever had!!
I loveeeeee this place so much that I have double or triple scoop everytime I visit them (and thats veryyyy frequent)
Thank you for serving such an amazing and delicious icecream!!
Pistachio, Hazlenut and Nutella Swirl are my favourites!!!
Try each of those!
N. T.
It's okay ice cream but a fair bit overhyped. I don't understand why people wait in long lines to get served here. There are loads if other options on Lygon St that are at least as good.
B.
Amazing and authentic gelato!
Wonderful flavours, it’s hard to decide. Cute little ice cream cart outside.
K. Y.
It offers good quality ice-cream at affordable price.
Y. K.
Oooohhh...... Nutella Swirl of this place, ooooooohhh heavenly.
Such rich thick pure milk ice-cream!! 😍😍
One should definitely try it!
B. A.
You can’t go to Carlton without going to Pidapipò. Get the nutella swirl. Their best flavor and everyone’s favorite. There’s usually a line depending on what time you go, but it moves pretty fast.
A. G.
Delicious creamy goodness for cheap. The place is great for an after dinner dessert and it's flavours are authentic. I recommend the bacio (chocolate and hazelnut).
D. S.
Hands down the best Pistachio flavour I have tasted outside of Italy, better than most I had in Italy also. Worth the wait in line.
D. E.
Love their vegan chocolate soy! Really tasty.. you can add honeycomb as your topping..
A. L.
Absolutely love the ice cream here! I think they rotate the flavours regularly. Queue is a major turn off but you can avoid it by heading there during non-peak hours. Servings are really generous. Try it to believe it!
P. S.
Some of the best gelato in Melbourne
J. Y.
Great gelato and always a wide variety of flavours
K. L.
Very good gelato and the hot Nutella was awesome. Could do with a better selection and some more creative flavours
A. C.
Been a while since I have been here but it's just as nice as I remember.
A. K.
Nice, didn't understand the hype and long lines but hey it was decent!
J. B.
Went with the vegan dairy free options of waterlemon (but I noticed later that I got lemon instead) and Pina colada. It was OK, but not very exciting.
H. L.
Absolutely delightful ice cream spot with some of the creamiest ice cream I've ever had. Super rich and wonderful on hot Melbourne days.
Went with a bunch of mate's after the uni semester ended, and we all enjoyed the respite from the afternoon heat.
J. L.
Had this twice in three days. Would be even better to have it everyday! Also recommend to read the story of Lisa and the shop while enjoying the gelato.
J. K.
Delicious gelato! Go here. The gelato was smooth, creamy, and a had a very good flavor. There was also a great selection of non-dairy flavors. We ordered pistachio, hazelnut, vanilla, and mango, every flavor was superb. The atmosphere and the care the workers put into the batches was authentic Italian. Also, check out the window in the front, the design was amazing.
R. K.
Delicious gelato. This time I tried pistachio and chocolate in a cup. Only negative aspect today was, the girl on counter didn’t even put full scoop of chocolate on top of pistachio. I noticed this when I got out of shop and started eating. I know Pidapipo serving and normally it’s very generous. I think even that girl didn’t notice it or they had less choc flavour.
M. S.
One of the best gelato 🍧 places in Melbourne.
Pistachio or salted caramel in a con filled with Nutella inside out is one of the best things you’ll taste for a while 🤓
R. s.
Our favourite gelato in Melbourne! Can't go wrong with any flavour really, pistachio still reigns high for our family
S. B.
Very good ice cream you must try
D. M.
I had a scoop of pink grapefruit, it was okay and not too sweet. Watch it for a long queue
A. C.
This is the BEST gelato shop in Melbourne. I cannot resist a gelato shop, but I can truly say that Pidapipo have the most delicious creamy and soft icecreams with the most intense flavours. If I can't get there in person, I order it on uber eats! If you are a fan of nuts, must try the Bacio and Pistachio!
W. C.
Best ice cream in Melbourne. Always long queue is the quality assurance.
S. P.
Best ice cream place with many delicious varieties.
Y. T.
Must try their passion fruit flavor gelato! Best ever, ever, EVER!
A. G.
Great gelati, traditional flavours and service. Had cinnamon, ricotta and honey with a dash of nutella!!
S. R.
This is one of the best ice cream places in Melbourne. They make everything fresh and it all tastes amazing. They also have dairy free options. My only negative comment would have to be there are often long lines of a night time but the staff are amazing at what they do and these lines always seem to move quickly. If you've lived here your whole life or just in Melbourne for a visit you have to try this place!
I. S.
Ice cream here is like poetry. The people who serve it or the ice cream will never disappoint you. Try bacio if you like hazelnut and chocolate.
S. S.
Just went here 10 mins before the store closed for the evening (fortunately no queue of 20 as per usual).
Was always keen to come here and when I was recommended the Ricotta and Pistachio by the lovely staff, I wasn't led down. Some of the best gelato ice cream I've ever had the pleasure of tasting.
Thanks to the kind and helpful staff too :)
J. A. S. C.
Perfect flavor!! I've got the mascarpone and apricot jam ice cream and I was to die for! There is not an standard size, i went with my girlfriend she got a smaller size and we order exactly the same. Anyway good option for summer days
R. C.
Easily the best ice cream store I've found in Melbourne. High quality, delicious flavours. The one down side is the secret has been out regarding this store for years and now expect a decent wait to place your order.
M. N.
Went their today, had to wait in line for 40 minutes as the queue was pretty long .Than when finally our turn came they didnt have any different flavours ..just the few regular ones were present .Although the staff was super nice but was nothing worth the wait ...
J. K.
Love the gelato, but the customer service side of things is really lacking. I buy Pidapipó from the Prahran shop at least once a month, and every time I go, the servers don’t even crack a smile. The person who served me last night did not even say “hello” or “thank you/have a nice night/goodbye” as I left. What happened to basic manners? This stems from management.
P. T.
Although the queue was long, but with friends waiting for this epic taste made it all fine. Had Majito and pistachio, wonderful wonderful
E. H. L.
Had banana milk and mango! It was good, not bad, but I’ve tasted better gelato.
D. M.
Great ice-creams, especially the strawberry one which is the benchmark for any ice-cream maker. The waitress was nice and the prices fine!
M. K.
A super delicious store which serves gelatinos and shakes..
J. T.
I'm gonna have to say it's probably one of my absolute favourite places to get ice cream in Melbourne so far... Delicious but there can be a bit of a wait. All ice cream made in house with changing flavours all the time. Would give more than 5 stars if I could.
K. L.
Despite the delicious ice cream already resting well into my duodenum, the ever expanding line as we were sitting down made the ice cream taste even better.
K. M.
Best ice cream ever 👌🏻🍦 A friend recommended me this place explaining it “has the best ice cream ever” and he was 100% correct. I finished it before I could grab a photo. The selection of flavours was so hard to choose from, so many delicious choices 🤤 Thank you for the kind service too, the workers were very approachable and kind.
T. T.
Sweet treat after dinner at Papa Gino's. We tried some flavours but ended up with the original chocolate ice cream. Texture is perfect - soft and not melting too quickly. You guys who have sensitive tongue towards sugar might find their ice cream bit too sweet. But it's worth trying guys!
A. O.
Probably not worth the wait. Was delicious but not 30min of a queue worth... reasonable priced though where I was surprised.
A. S.
Super tasty ice cream and great price for what you get. Went with my cousin on a Wednesday night and the line was out the door! Wasn't a long wait, definitely worth it, but shows just how great and popular this place is. Will be back!!
J. M.
Best ice cream in Victoria and possibly the whole world and maybe in entire history.
So smooth, so tasty so so good.
Just try it for yourself.
I. l. t. m. i.
There are about four icecream stores in the area but this one was the only one with a long queue of customers. I've just tried the coffee icecream and it was great!
L. C. C.
Icecream was absolutely delicious, but the staff was very nice. Had a question about the flavour and she wasn't very helpful.
S. H.
The price point was reasonable, not too expensive, the serving was generous no complaints there. However the taste was lacking. Ordered the pistachio and the nectarine (non dairy). The pistachio was bit bland, and didn't have the usual pistachio chunks nor flavour. The nectarine was glueey and tasted like sugar. Both were really really sweet, way too sweet. Combined with the serv8ng size it was hard to finish. I admit perhaps I tried the wrong flavours. But shouldn't all the flavours be hits?
T. C.
Really good gelato! I usually go for hazelnut and salted caramel. They have a lot of interesting flavours. It’s popular for their high quality, delicious gelato. It does get quite busy though, you would see a long line out the store, but it moves fairly quickly. A nice place for some dessert after your dinner on Lygon
Y.
Definitely overhyped. Tried many flavours and the icecream here is good, but not mindblowing. Certainly not worth making a special trip for, but great if you're already in the neighborhood. Rated 5 stars for great icecream for a reasonable price.
S. M.
You have to try it! I went with a group of three and every one of the two flavours we each got was phenomenal. Incredibly authentic flavours with a cream texture. The line was huge but the service was excellent and the staff worked really efficiently to get every one through. Please expand to Sydney!!
I. B.
Always worth the wait! The ice-cream and sorbet is delicious and smooth. They always have some amazing new flavour combinations to try.
D. M.
Offers a delicious and inventive range of flavours, most of which change regularly, and across many visits the staff have always been very friendly and helpful. One of my favourite gelaterias in Melbourne!
J. A.
I see why this place gets such high praise in Melbourne! All the flavors are smooth, fulfilling, and addicting! Also you can't go there and not see/try their hot Nutella topping; it's flowing non stop from the sink!! Prices are alright but I wish they had bigger scoops instead of paying for more scoops. FYI they do have dairy free options!
Try them out you won't be disappointed with the best ice cream in Melbourne! (Do take note the line gets longer as the night progresses but I found it still very fast and the beautiful Italian ladies were very friendly)
A. P.
Love Pidapipo. Their gelato isn't reliant on being overly sugary like you'll get with other places and they generally have beautiful flavours. From my many trips there, you may get a bland or fairly standard experience from time to time. 7 out of 10 times its worth it!
O. F.
Awesome little hip Ice-creamery shop in Lyon street. Open late with a bunch of unique and classic flavours. I went for a Mint and White Chocolate, while my friends, who happen to be vegan, also had the choice for dairy free ice creams such as Watermelon and Mango!
The small, yet definitely buzzing ice-cream shop has a sort of industrial-alleyway type of vibe going on that blends so well with the rest of the lygon st scene! Staff were kind, energetic and charismatic! Will eat here again :)
Y. D.
The best gelato in the world...the end. Seriously, we spent three weeks in Italy eating gelato daily and we still dreamt of getting back to Pidapipo for their amazing gelato!! We live in Sydney now and we miss this place so much :( all flavours are amazing, particularly the salted caramel. Please open a store in Sydney!!
J. P.
I've tried pistachio, bacio, milk, and chocolate flavour here. They all tasted great but their pistachio flavour was the best among all Italian gelaterias I've tried so far! It was so good that I went back to eat that flavour again during my holiday in Melbourne.
M. A. P.
The queue in peak hours doesn’t make sense. The gelato is good, maybe a little bit overrated.
G. K.
Mostly vanilla based, but amazing retention of flavour in each. The exact texture of soft serve but in a scoop. Very creamy and not too sweet, worth a visit for sure
N. F. A.
Love the gelato especially the Ricotta & Persimmon one.
F. F.
Great ice-cream that is very well priced. There's also a large range of flavours that changes daily depending on what is fresh.
Don't worry if you see a queue - it always moves quickly!
R. M.
The mark of any Gelateria for me is their Pistachio ice cream. You can almost always tell if the flavours are artificial or not. The pistachio flavour here is one of the best I've had and I've eaten lots of gelatos in Italy. Haven't tried other flavours but i will definitely go back again!
L.
Best gelatto in Australia
F. R.
Highly recommended. A place I always go to whenever I feel like getting an authentic gelato. There is always a long queue outside the store, but it's worthy to spend a few minutes queueing just for the tasty bites along with smooth texture. Sometime they would have seasonal flavours. I like persimmon flavored gelato the best as it's not over sweet and represents autumn.
T. U. C.
Add delicious icecream, great and efficient customer service and reasonable prices and it's pretty much the reason you'd be willing to line up outside and wait patiently for your turn.
A.
Small/quaint inside, reasonable prices, and even better...amazing tasting gelato!
E. N.
Huge variety of daily choices and competitive pricing. Will have to line up during the later hours and the staff definitely feel the pressure at times and can be a bit curt, but it's wonderful feel good ice cream. Don't expect anywhere to sit though, the seating is very limited!
v. s.
Favourite ice-cream in all of Melbourne at the moment! Best flavour ever was the cheese collaboration they did w local cheeses! The second favourite was the chocolate collaboration w local chocolate maker! And for Valentine's I had the popcorn scoop and misocaramel scoop and had the most amazing popcorn caramel ice-cream feeling :D delicious, fresh and great collaborations with other local producers!
S. V.
Loved the choices of flavours and the ice cream was yummy
H. L.
Excellent choices of non dairy ice-cream especially nectarines flavors taste great. Down side is - sometimes too busy, not very patient with Asians. And there may be foul smell from outside the shop.
I. B.
Omggg they are so kind. I got a double scoop and the card I had wouldn’t work so they offered the ice cream for free. Luckily I had a 5 solar bill in my purse, I was still short of 1.50. They were so understanding and the ice cream is AMAZING!! I definitely recommend it.
H. D.
Was waiting for 30min in the cue to get in the shop last Friday night. Strictly following distancing during Covid 19. Nice decored shop, warm employees and great, tasty icecream from Italy. I will come back next time when I am in Melbourne. Recommended for friends and families with children.
S. H.
Hands down the best gelato in Melbourne (sorry Messina). Their salted caramel and coconut is amazing, but so is everything else I've tried there. Manageable but diverse range of flavours - worth the wait!
J.
It's good gelato
M. A.
Ice cream flavours are just great. The creamy texture is delicious and the quantity is quite much to satisfy your appetite for a whole meal. Best ice cream in town!
k. m.
Must definitely try it. The most traditional gelato you can get in Melbourne. Must be in line most of the times. $Accepts cards$ doesn't have much space to sit. Definitely recomend pistachio and chocolate.
m. g.
For me, this is the best gelato in Melbourne, dare I say, in the world. Their flavours are always on point. My favourite flavour is pistachio and it is always amazing. Their salted caramel and Nutella swirl are also delicious. A visit here is never a bad decision!
M. Y.
Very famous among students for delicious and cheap ice cream. Mostly Italian flavours. One scoop is 4.80, two is 6.80
C. L.
The best ice cream in Australia
J. T.
Awesome Italian gelateria experience!
R. S.
Amazing icecream. Cheap icecream for the top quality. Authentic, and nice staff. Made on site. Melted Nutella is great.
Lines are crazy at night. With nearby competition that is nearly or just as good.
p. r.
Wow, I waited for almost 20mins in the queue at this place to eat the ice cream and it was totally worth it, the ice cream was so rich in flavour and was heavy for just 1 scope of ice cream. Totally worth the price
Ice cream. 5
Service. 5
Ambience. 5
Cost. $$
Overall. 5
G. F.
Deeeeelicious!!!! Vanilla with chunks of honeycomb.
K. N.
Got the pistachio (of course) 😍, and now also have a new favorite: the chocolate!
W. N.
My favourite gelato place in Melbourne. Always have really good flavours. Always experimenting with new flavours. Ultra high quality gelato. Ultra creamy. Ultra awesome. Currently in Carlton and Windsor.
J. R.
BEST Gelato in Melbourne! Definitley worth the wait.
A. L.
Queued for a bit but it moved fast and u r not gonna regret waiting. All flavors looks appealing and the staff recommended the blood plum and pistachio and they do taste super nice! Will definitely come back sometimes and try all other flavors.
b. s.
The gelato was outstanding. The staff members in general helpful but the latino girl who served us could not be any more this interested or grumpy. I get it people could have a bad day but we didnt do nothing to you, just trying to buy some flipping Icecream. A simple smile goes a long way. Her service gets 1 star at best.
D. C.
Best ice-cream in Australia!!! I’ve never had better ice-cream. Staff are so nice, just as nice as the ice-cream. There honestly isn’t anything bad to say about it! 😋😋😋🍦🍦🍦
J. C.
Best gelati in Melbourne. Flavours are so good and real. You don't get that weird chemical flavour in any of their gelati. It can be a bit of a wait most of the times and others also know how good the gelati is here.
P. R.
The line to grab gelato explains it all. Pidapipó is arguably Melbourne's most popular gelateria, and definitely a must visit when here.
K. A.
Absolutely yumm!!
The 1st highly anticipated visit to Pidapipo, tried the flavour bacio which is pretty popular. It has a nutty essence and perfectly smooth and silky texture with a lingering flavour on the tongue.
Looking forward to try more flavors.
B. B.
Omg! Every time I come here I love it!
Lining up for 10 min out the front is worth the wait because its the best you'll get.
The staff are run off their feet cause it soo busy, but they're always super friendly.
They've got amarena cherries and hot luscious nutella aswell just to get you even more addicted lol :)
If you havent heard of Pidapipo, or tried their gelato, then you simply havent lived!
P. P.
Definitely worth the wait in the queue. Quite long on a warm day. I tried the Nutella swirl and salted caramel. The salted caramel easy definitely my favorite!
D. S.
Love this trendy Italian gelato bar. Plenty of yummy flavours made in small batches on the premises. Always a queue that moves fairly quickly.
A. J.
One of the best gelati places in Melbourne, located right across the road from Cinema Nova and amongst a whole bunch of Italian bars and restaurants. What they lack in variety they make up in quality: their sorbets are especially delicious, and come in unusual flavours too (have a scoop of kiwi if you're around).
E.
Lots of flavours and it rotates. Many dairy free options. Gelato is tasty and smooth. Staff are friendly. If you want a taste of a flavour, just ask!
S. H.
This ice cream was honestly so good, I definitely understand why there was a consistent line out the door, even in the cold weather.
I got their Nutella Swirl ice cream. They give you an option to add extra Nutella on top, which I actually didn't opt for, but regardless it was absolutely delicious. The Ice cream was so creamy and the flavor was perfect. I was worried that the Nutella would be super overpowering, but it was just a perfect mix of the nutella flavor. I remember being so full from the dinner I had eaten just before the ice cream and I was probably too full to even have the ice cream in the first place, but I ate it all because it was that good.
definitely recommend!
K. A.
Delicious! Worth the short wait.
We left an awful Italian restaurant down the road, chasing a decent gelato to give us the real Lygon street experience. Pidapippo did not disappoint. Friendly staff and amazing flavours.
S. A.
One of the best ice creams I have had, that too, at a reasonable price. Be prepared to stand in the waiting for 20-30 mins. Will happily visit again if in the area. Cheers
J. R.
Don't hate me for saying the gelato here was better than in Italy (Euro trip 2017). Trust me, you should not miss this if you are on lygon street. Take my advice and go for one of their special flavours.
A. R.
One of the top 3 gelato places in Melbourne. Smooth, silky traditional gelato flavours alongwith few special flavours everyday. Also have dairy free, gluten free and few others to cater for icecream lovers with allergies.
A must visit for Italian Gelato lovers!
M. M.
Delicious ice cream, never too sweet and always with perfect flavours
T. K.
Yum! I wish I could eat their gelato every day but we live in Sydney which is a good thing or I would get really fat. We went to Pipapido's both days we were in Melbourne and tried the pistachio, Pina colada, blood plum, fior di latte, and watermelon. My personal favorite was the pistachio but all of the flavours were delicious!
S. A.
Pidapipo's gelato is very nice. Although there aren't a huge number of flavours, there is enough to satisfy most people! I have enjoyed all the flavours that I have tried.
My main gripe is the absolutely MINISCULE amount of Nutella that is given to you when you ask for Nutella on top. The amount that they put on the top is less than a teaspoon and definitely not worth the extra money. This was not just me as I saw them do it to about a dozen people before I was served. Really dissapointing, particularly as you go to somewhere like Zero Gradi and get an enormous amount on top! This is definitely something that needs to be improved.
K. E.
Yum! Nutella swirl with Nutella inside was awesome. Very sweet, some people could not like it but the icecream is mostly vanilla and counteracts it. Staff are nice, busy place!
R. D.
Discover this place accidentally & it is incredible!! Best gelato in Melbourne. Interesting flavours & a great variety. Can have cream or Nutella on top (I highly recommend the latter!)
L. S.
Best ice cream in Melbourne for me! Messina comes close but this place is just so good. Only 4 stars because the staff are always so surly! If I didn't love their ice cream so much the poor customer service would probably put me off returning.
L. L.
Really good ice cream but the service lets this place down; not an issue when you have long queues. Our server didn’t smile and barely spoke to us, clearly she hated her job. She snapped at my partner for questioning her as to why she gave a single use plastic spoon in her ice cream cone. That leads to another lost star, why do we need single use plastic spoons for an ice cream cone. We have enough plastics floating in the oceans no need to add more. Come her for ice cream just avoid the server with the nose ring and ask for no spoon.
G. V.
Excellent gelato--even better than many joints in Europe or even Italy. Fresh produce (a lady was peeling mangoes for the icecream in front of us, there was even fresh honey comb as a possible topping!!) and very friendly service. This place is a gem!
M. T.
One of the best ice cream place! High quality ice cream. Order two scoops for a cheaper pricing. Can consider getting a cone as it is the same price as a cup. Recommended!!
A. C.
One of the best gelato places around the whole of Melbourne! Prices are also fair. Only downside is that Lygon is a little further out of the main CBD area, and you'd need to take a tram out here to get your gelto fix. Personally like the Pistachio flavor, but do ask for the Nutella drip! Goes super well with the gelato served!
L. A.
Ice cream mainstay of Lygon street. Great place to go have dessert after a meal in the area, with creamy gelato with all the elements that make them an authentic Italian style gelateria. Expect a queue at the door.
k.
Name could be faded in photo but the quality in hand should delivers exact what yuh ask for ... delicious gelato in Lygon street where yuh can’t make ur self always with #Pistachio 😋 flavor that savor ..!
Warm greetings & Cold Gelato ... amazing guys
P.s :- Real picture so people never be fooled
R. L.
Fresh, delicious gelato made with wholesome ingredients, and a nice guy behind the counter. A bit up north in the CBD, but it's absolutely worth the venture. The best gelato I had in Melbourne, maybe all of Australia.
I. A.
Good ice cream but small serves. Once famous for hot nutella on tap but now it's just pathetic spattering from a cup that you'll still pay $1 for. Doesn't compare with alternatives like Messina
S. V.
Great ice cream! Quite different to what you'd usually get. The apple crumble my personal favourite! Must try, however slightly pricey
A. C.
It's always a pleasure to enjoy the fine gelatos and ince cream from Pidapipo. Today we returned to the Carlton store after visiting a friend who lives nearby and were instantly greeted on entry even though the server was clearly busy. Picking our favourite flavours and we were given our servings generously and quickly.
C. B.
It's ok... I think it has changed alot from when it started. My gelato had little ice bits as I was eating it.
김.
It's mint! I had strawberry gelato. It was real strawberry. Strong strawberry gelato! I love it!!!!
J. T.
Along Melbourne’s Lygon Street to the north of the CBD are plenty of gelateria. Yummy, creaming gelatos made for any day, summer or otherwise. Among the best gelato spots is Pidapipo, an artisanal gelato is flavours to die for. The traditional small batch goodness draw a good crowd during my visit and I’m just a sucker for ice-cream. All the good ones. Those creamy happiness in a scoop just pops up my day as bright as the colours of the strawberries and cream. My litmus test for a good gelato, is how good they make their strawberry flavour as it’s a delicate mix of sweet and sour as well as my favourite flavour, hazelnut and stracciatella. Pidapipo doesn’t disappoint.
G. C.
The best ice-cream in Carlton, the Nutella/vanilla combination is delicious. Don't be surprised if you have to wait in line though. Can be ordered online and delivered by uber if you don't want to leave the house!
R. S.
Worth the wait, every single time!! It’s not just the gelato that brings me back here over n over again but the vibe and the custserv peeps are champs here, very friendly and quick. One of the greatest gelato in town!!
e. b.
Ice creams not terrible, but almost not worth lining up for, especially if the weather's terrible. Overhyped and over priced considering they have Lavezzi across the road from them which is 1000% better, and the staff are so much friendlier.
M. S.
Best ice cream ever had. Give it a try you won't be disappointed
M. S.
BEST ICE CREAM EVER
M. H.
It's always a long que as it's very popular. I will go there more and more as I fell in love with their taste.
T. H.
So yummy ice cream, very soft ice and less sugar.
P.
I had an amazing experience at Pidapipo Gelateria. Although the line was long, the wait was well worth it. Best ice cream I've ever had. Absolutely loved the passion fruit flavour!
S. J. S.
The ice creams don't look that good but it's one of the best ice creams I've ever had. Highly recommended to anyone that comes to Melbourne.
J. N.
Superb taste, highly recommended .... I love the flavour 'Caramel with nutella on top', one of the best ice creams I have tasted in my life ....
A. G.
The staff were so nice very loving towards the customers. The ice-cream is probably the best i have ever had. 10/10 would recommend
J. C. C. C.
I think this was the best gelatto that I've ever had in Melbourne. The fruit flavours are stunning (it is like you are eating the fruit itself). Worth every dollar.
G. B.
Really great ice-cream shop, there will always be a queue waiting inline to get ice-cream but it moves pretty fast. The staff is quick and helpful and the ice-cream is delicious! Definitely worth a try
P. S.
There gelato is a bit pricey tbh, but it is the best I have ever had. Its very good, and the employees are very nice. I would recommend getting some gelato from here if you are ever on Lygon st, but I do sometimes go to lygon st. just to get some gelato, its that good.
P. H.
I cannot recommend Pidapipo enough. Best ice cream and gelato I've had in a while. Incredibly well priced and delicious taste. I had a double scoop with passionfruit and coconut (a great combo). You will not regret getting a cone here.
H. B.
If you can get past the crazy line up the ice cream is absolutely delicious!!! It’s a must after dinner experience as the weather warms up!! Love this place!!!
K. C.
Ice cream shops aplenty along Lygon Street, however there almost always a line outside Pidapipo after dinner, perhaps for good reason.
Worth the wait for high quality ice cream and good flavours. Plus the service is pretty quick, so the line is always moving.
Offers a variety of classic and non-traditional flavours, including Nutella swirl, mascarpone and raspberry, and peanut butter. Nutella or cream toppings for those feeling particularly decadent, and dairy-free and soy-based ice creams.
I.
Queue at the door if you come past after 8pm, worth the wait though!
A must try: Nutella ice cream with Nutella drizzle. Decently priced with one scoop more than enough for your sweet tooth!
Fantastic service and they also do delivery if you are ordering via Uber eats
A perfect place to have dessert after enjoying dinner at Lygon.
r. a.
Pretty good but not unforgettable ice cream
J. M.
Really great ice cream. Amazing range. Always a line (hence the 4 stars) but the whole experience is fun. Why aren't more people dancing to the music?
C. “. Z.
Interesting non milk based flavours yet not like normal sorbets. At least not called sorbet.
Properly done waffle cones.
Love the watermelon flavour.
Service was ok considering long cue outside.
G. R.
The best gelato! Sometimes there is a line but the service is fast and is worth a 5/10 minutes wait. The flavours changes from time to time so you can try something different every day.
V. S.
You can't go past this place for Gelato when on Lygon St. Seriously, why would you? Don't be scared off by the line-up, it moves quickly. Hint - get the Nutella topping!
D. D. B.
Awesome tastes, always something new to try along with classic flavours. Children especially love the liquid nutella fountain. Not just a summer place as coffee is also good.
D. C.
Yum, delishy, great texture and flavours are mostly really strong. Staff are a bit slow to serve (I feel like they play up the line rather than try to beat it) but these days it's moving a little faster. Definitely worth trying if you can wait.
M. M.
Pistachio Gelato is a must! Love the texture and the taste of the gelato.
V.
The best ice cream and gelato outside of Italy. Thank you Lisa for bringing back your Italian learned skills to Melbourne and creating such a beautiful product!!! The hazelnut is beyond belief sensational!!!
k.
Pidapipo's warm ambience is a nice combatant to Melbourne's arctic climate. There is always soothing music playing and the quality of the ice cream is top notch. My flavour recommendation is Bacio (Ferrero rocher). The level of customer service can improve slightly but I think the workers are doing the best they can in regards to the people they deal with.
S. R.
Three words to describe this. Delicious delicious and delicious.... It's a sin to waste a single spoon..... Amazing....
S. S.
These are my new favourite gelateria in Melbourne. Even on a Thursday night expect queues. The tastes are really truly awesome. They make my favourite lemon and mango gelati.
S. K.
My favourite ones are bacio, pistachio, and coconut.
+ great taste …
+ wide range of options ...
+ great vibe …
+ friendly staff …
+ reasonable price …
I highly recommend this place, these folks know their stuff!
Tip: it can get pretty busy, sometimes you need to wait for about half an hour or more But you can order on Uber Eats as well!!
H. H.
Judging by the queue out the door, I would have thought the gelati would be fantastic. I found it only very good. Perhaps my wife and I chose three not so great flavours. We will try again.
M. T.
One of the best pistachio gelato I've had in Melb. The peanut butter caramel also impressed. Would happily come back and try more flavours!
T. L.
Great quality, fair prices and some interesting/different flavour options as well as the classics. No wonder there was a line.
P. E. N.
Pidepapo has to be one of the best ice creams in Melbourne. Anyone who thinks that Messina is better than this place is dreaming - time to wake up you darn dingus, Pudapapi is here to claim the throne. A simple vanilla (Fior da late) or a chocolate (Bacheo) from Pepipopo is enough to send you into an ice cream flavoured heaven. Seriously, so darn good. Before his passing, my good friend Dirk used to tell me Papipupi was the best, and on his soul I can say he was correct.
M. H.
Amazing variety and delicious ice creams!
C.
my relationship was ruined because we couldnt tell the difference between nutela swirl and orange blossom. my girlfriend made me feel insane. thanks alot pida peoples. otherwise delicious icecream 10/10 ps. pistachio icecream tastes better than actual pistachios
D. -.
Absolutely mouthwatering! Amazing ice cream; some of the best ive had. Theres always a line, but it moves quickly and is worth the wait. I recommend the hazelnut, its so good.
J. S.
Had to wait in line but totally worth it. Ice-cream that tastes like the actual flavour (eg chocolate tastes like chocolate). They even have dairy free options
K. T.
My favourite ice cream place in Melbourne, the fior di latte, hazelnut and pistachio flavours are absolutely delicious. While I love Gelato Messina for the crazy flavours they come up with, I enjoy Pidapipo for the normal, simple flavours they have on offer, because their ice cream is so incredibly smooth and just melts on your tongue. Have dinner at a lovely Italian restaurant on Lygon and go for a short walk down to Pidapipo, you won't regret it. If you live in Carlton, ubereats it and eat it from the comfort of your home!
S. L.
I have never had such amazingly creamy ice-cream in my life. This is so delicious I will definitely be back again and again.
T. T.
One of the best icecream shops in Melbourne
C. L.
Love their salted caramel! Nice little gelato shop to hang out for a while, not a lot of outdoor seats and the tables are usualy dirty but it's my favourite place for gelato!
J. S.
This is hands down the best gelato in Melbourne! You must try the pistachio or salted caramel and for a special treat get the hot Nutella sauce drizzled on top!
S. S.
Gelato never disappoints!! I even had the ricotta with fig jam flavour and it was amazing. Definitely recommend getting the molten Nutella on top. Delicious
E. R.
Delicious ice cream! There is usually quite a long line at night, but it is worth it.
C. A.
Interesting flavours, generous servings and well priced. Be prepared to wait in line, but the gelato is definitely worth the wait.
D. R.
This Ice cream is amazing!
T. C.
Best service I have ever had at any venue, the young man who served me Alessandro was very helpful with excellent customer service. I recommend the pistachio but only if he serves it to you.
T. S.
Wonderful home made ice cream. Generous serves, good prices. Can pay with EFTPOS/Paypass even for small amounts. The pistachio flavour is my favourite.
Y.
Amazing ice cream! Very generous proportion. Staff are very friendly as well. Great dessert place.
G. T.
Very good gelato but be prepared to wait! Limited flavours but there will be something for everyone. Don't forget to add the toppings as well.
s. m.
One of the best Gelato in Melbourne. U must try, guys
M. Y.
Long queues. At first I was looking forward to their Fior De Latte thinking it was a coffee flavour but it turned out to be just plain vanilla ice cream. Better than average ice cream but not fantastic.
S. M.
OMG never tasted such delicious ice cream.
It blew my tastebuds apart. I ate 2 ice creams. Cant wait too go back. Highly recommended..
L. V.
Gelati made the authentic way. Had a nice range of flavours (pistacchio is a must!), priced at what you'd expect for artisan goods, but you may need to queue... though the line moves quickly
R. P.
Really nice ice creams and quick service
Think they can change up the flavours a bit more regularly though
S. R.
I don't like/eat ice creams normally but guys those one are sooooo tasty. 7.5 bucks for 2 scoops and I took a topping of hot nutella for just 1more dollar.
D. C.
Delicious gelato and sorbets. Highly recommended if you are in Lygon Street
S. W.
Such wow gelato. Nice flavours. Perfect sweetness.
So creamy and yumm.. no wonder they always have long queues
A. K.
Very little to say other than you need to try this. You can see the fresh ingredients scattered around the shop as the gelato is made on site.
Memorable!
J. L.
Fresh gelati and extended opening hours make this a popular choice for an after dinner treat. Long lines and limited seating will try to dissuade, but keep the Nutella fountain as a goal and stay the course.
H. W.
Always new flavours, consistency, creaminess, sweetness are just right.
J. M.
This place is worth the wait. The flavours are all amazing - even the weird sounding combinations always impress. Staff are friendly and are always making suggestions for what to try. Don’t be afraid of the line at night, it moves fairly quickly!
F. K.
Best Ice Cream I've tried so far in Melbourne. Loved it.
K. M.
They piled my gelato to the sky; it was structurally unsound. After a minute I had to go back and dump it into a cup. They need bigger cones for three scoops. Pretty tasty though.
A.
Great place. Creamy and amazing.
A. A.
Just beware that 'late' means milk, not coffee, and you will get vanilla! The long waits are so worth it... particularly for the mango and watermellon flavours, oh man!
M. G.
The single flavours here are always a winner, but the more flamboyant combinations are a real treat.
D. H.
One of the best gelato places. They always have a nice selection of both milk based and non milk based ice creams.
H. Z.
best Ice cream in Melbourne. you have to line up to get in even on cold days but i absolutelyloved it. the portions are very big too
S. W.
Ice creams is always delicious here. Recomend the salted caramel if your first time going there.
M. B.
Fast service, friendly and understanding staff, generous servings, ice cream not too sweet ✌️
R. A. A.
Pidapipo is a cafe located in Lygon Street, Carlton. The cafe sells delicious ice cream. The choices include hazelnuts, pistachio, banana milk, vanilla, blood orange, etc. I prefer pistachio the most. The price is reasonable. Pidapipo is also available in UberEats and it takes approximately 20 minutes for delivery. Do check me out on my instagram @ roshan_arjun for more feeds. Cheers!
A. L.
Easily the best ice cream I've ever had. They have lots of dairy free options too!
B. R.
Salted caramel and coconut on a waffle cone is heavenly!
G. B.
Always a queue, but they do make some really good ice cream. recommend the fruit flavors, they're really really flavorful!
J. T.
Creamy, luscious. Got the mint and white choc.
T. D.
Beautiful Italian ice-cream - always a satisfying visit when I'm on Lygon street. Highly recommend the Bacio flavor and the melted Nutella.
S. R.
Hands down the best gelato in Melbourne. Extremely addictive. Must try the Pistachio with Nutella. ♥️👌🏽
K. L.
Super smooth and great flavour - had the Coconut/Nutella flavour. A bit intense after awhile but a real good treat nonetheless!
L. R.
Saw a queue outside and joined it last summer. Good ice cream, but I probably not worth queuing for.
A. K.
It is one of the best ice-cream to have in Melbourne and I have never seen this place empty there is always a line in front of the shop on weekdays and weekends.
n. n. n.
the service was great
the serves were generous and the ice cream was delicious
K. A.
The best ice cream i have ever tried.
M. T.
Best ice-cream in Melbourne.
R. N.
Great variety of flavours!!! Highly recommend the Vanilla and honeycomb ! Worth waiting in the long queue :)
E. V.
This place is happening, it's fairly busy but that's because it's super good and everyone knows that it's super good. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the flavours are fantastic, and the portions are generous. Such a great treat!
J. T.
Good price for the great quality. I feel like they need more signs explaining the flavours. It is good icecream but a bit overrated
D. G.
Great Ice-cream and usually very busy. Service can be very hit or miss and the length of the queue is a good indication of how fast they are serving.
K. D.
When you take your first lick of a Pidapipo gelato for a moment you feel like you're on the streets of Bologna at the Castiglione Gelateria. It's an amazing feeling. I happily stand in a queue for 20 mins or so just to be served. Yummy yummy gelato. Do not be tempted to cross the road and go to Brunetti's. You will regret. Tough it out in the queue, it's worth it.
V. D.
They have some interesting flavours but it is a place I go to occasionally and I don't believe the big queues are justified. I prefer Casa del Gelato and Gelato Messina.
E. K.
Never regret the wait in line. Best icecream ever.
A. R.
do the people here speak only Italian. Didnt know. Walked in and told them I would take few minutes to decide and they talked amongst themselves in Italian. I decided the flavour and told them and even then they replied majorly in Italian and few words in english. Is it that it is a thing to speak in Italian there? Anyway the taste was good
A. B.
IMO is the best icecream in Melbourne. Like the 3 Michelin star - exceptional cuisine that is worth a special journey
I. F.
Favorite gelato in all of Melbourne, I am a regular and the new flavours keep on getting better all the time, do I really have to say it ..... I WILL BE BACK
R. G.
The ice cream flavors are creative and tasty. The gelato could be creamier. The music was so loud I'd have paid extra to leave.
T. D.
Great but get in early. Lines often out the door and down the street, even in the middle of winter. Definitely one of the better places in Melbourne
B. J.
My god their ice creams steep perfectly creamy and well balanced. Messina ha a huge selection but is mostly just decadence. Pidapipo is just _quality_
L. M.
Devine! I had the marscapone and raspberry jam gelato and it was so delightful. I tried my husbands lemon and sisters key lime and they were delicious too!
L. J.
Ice cream, is very flavourful. Had the Coconut and hazelnut. Excellent texture and taste!
S. M.
Great icecream even if there is a bit of a wait!
O. S.
In a great location, Lygon St, and very nice ice cream. The variety isn't huge but would be more than enough for serious ice cream lovers.
J. K.
Best gelato place I’ve seen in my life, they opened one in the city back in April (I think) and handed out free gelato, this place is incredible even the staff are nice. I give it 12/12 Ron Swansons.
G. R.
The best gelato I ever had. Hard to recommend a flavour, just pick one randomly and will be the right choice.
M. G.
Amazing ice cream. Best flavours in my opinion - Watermelon, Passionfuit, Coconut, Chocolate. Your choice of hot nutella or whipped cream on top. Mwah!
M. K.
Very nice place. Lived up to its expectations and the prices are very reasonable. Certainly worth giving it a go!
M. C.
This is the best icecream you're gonna get. Good rotations of new flavours but keeping the classics consistently good.
H. H.
Great place. Bit of a que though when we arrived on Sunday arvo
B. G.
Excellent gelato for reasonable prices, and fantastic flavours!
Expect a queue out the door although it does move quickly. Must have in Lygon St
B. P.
Late night dessert with 3 scoops on a waffle cone: pistachio (good), baccio (ho hum), nutella swirl (when is nutella not good?). Definitely one of the best gelato around town.
E. B.
Best gelato in Melbourne, great staff and super tasty flavours
J. C.
Smooth, delicious gelato flavours. Small downsides are the long queues in summer and crowded shop front, which means not many places to sit and eat.
V. D.
They got few flavors but are best in melbourne
e.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Delicious Italian icecream.. Italy experience. Staff..polite..best I have seen. Busy busy but worth that little wait. Must try. 😋😋😋😋
Y. P.
Absolutely incredible gelato. Now I know why the queue was long!
C. F.
The most delicious gelati. The summer stone fruit flavours are sublime. Chocolate is always solidly delicious. A+++
I. O.
Delicious and quality gelato that you can't stop eating... Yummy...
G. F.
Greatest Gelato I've yet to taste and I've tasted far and wide ! Only in Sicily can I honestly say I've had better 🌟
A. R.
Very good Gelato.. Had to get my money's worth. So I had the pistachio and the hazelnut. Thank you very much.
M. Q.
Gelato can't be better than this. On the minus side, that Nutella topping is highly addictive. Best gelato in Australia, period.
J. L.
The peanut butter tops it! All others are awesome as well.
L. S.
One of the best ice cream I ever tasted. Smooth, creamy with a well defined ingredients aroma.
O. R.
Very authentic Italian icecream. Amazing icecream.
S. M. A.
Great ice cream. Not sure about the staff, I know they are busy but a tiny smile now and then will help the costumers mood a lot (especially if they are queueing)
T. L.
Best pistachio ice cream I've ever had. Highly recommend. Won't let you down
N. S.
I LOVED IT! Chocolate and pistachio flavours were just amazing. It's a must try!
S. T.
Probably the best pistachio ice cream I've ever had!
J. S.
This is arguably the best gelato place in Melbourne. Just love it. Definitely try the Cardamom Pistachio.
D. H.
Amazing! This is the best ice cream I've ever had! The staff are so friendly too!
A. F.
Outstanding ice cream!!! Very kind staff.
H. Z.
The Bacio ice-cream is AMAZING!!!! Have had same flavour at other places. This was THE BEST EVER!
D. S. L.
I'm Italian and imho they have the best gelato in melbourne!!! Lovely staff, Delicious ice cream.. what can I ask more?
L. K.
Originally planned to try the hazelnut Nutella + biscuit but they ran out already. Tried the Nutella swirl instead, added some Nutella which perfects the gelato.
